Liverpool look likely to sign Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Gael Clichy while Juan Mata, Moussa Sissoko, Scott Dann Christian Zapata and a striker maybe Alexandre Pato, Ezequeil Lavezzi or Korean sensation Park Chu Young could be on the Liverpool FC Radar.

Has liverpool been linked with falcao or aguero and how close are we to signing mata

27 Jun 2011 23:25:16
I am a hardcore fan and think we have missed a quality dribbled/winger since mcmanoman/barnes so I thinkaby 2 from Lennon, downing, nzogbia and mata would be a huge step forward We already have the creativity in midfield with the usual suspects and Suarez can create from nothing from anywere. Adam I think is a good solid left footed midfielder and likened to alonso because of alonso and his class 2 footed passing accuracy, Adam will provide the ticking engine of a player in-between a Gerrard and a mascherano type mould. I feel that if we sighn wickham also it would represent a quality summer of purchasing Fromm KK and comolli as youth and hunger KK motivates on. Nobody knows what KK tactics will be not even himself will know as KK has mainly selected players on FORM unlike his predesessors houllier and Benitez. Simple if your playing good you will stay in the team. With the new guidelines for finance in clubs in place having the right manager will matter more than having the best players in the near future and furgy knows this I believe carra and Gerrard deserve a winners medal and it will come soon but with 4/6 of these players this summer we will be heading in the right direction for the first time since KK actually left:- (your thoughts people?)

Lennon, nzogbia, downing and Mata
Adam

For all the people asking for opinions from the Ed's :
1) Don't ask if your gonna slate the Ed's for something you asked for, an opinion is the Ed's thoughts on something not the necessarily the truth.
2) The Ed's are the most 'in the know' people on this site and they try to keep us updated with all the info they have but some people just don't appreciate that. Those who don't should be ashamed
3) The Ed's don't have to do this for us They spend their time on this site to let us Liverpool fans know what's going on at the club and if they don't know something don't slate them.
4) And lastly, I love the Ed's and the work they do. I will never be against the Ed's as I respect them for their work and effort as this site would not be here without them. Ed's, you guys deserve a pat on the back, well done

just been speaking to my mate who's step cousins with gary taylor-fletcher. his facebook profile picture is of him taylor-fletcher and coleman after the play off final last year.
he told me adam is looking for a house in london. he's agreed terms with spurs and it should be announced on july 5th. this is the honest truth.

Hi eds been following the site for about 2 years now but first time posting just wondered what are your thoughts of Micky Maynard of Bristol city he fits into our transfer policy and has bags of potential please post would like to hear your thoughts. {Ed002's Note - I am sorry but the player is unknown to me. Maybe another poster could assist.}

Just got the inside scoop from my source at Anfield, we will make a 25m bid for Mata by Wednesday. P.S This is Andy Carroll money so in reality this sum will be 72m

Melwood has been on lock down for the weekend.
Everyone knows Liverpool do deals behind closed doors and always have, and never give information out without confirmation of a signing. Expect to see alot of activity from July 1st.
......................................................................

I live there, In West Derby - It's locked every weekend

27 Jun 2011 23:04:36
According to 'Caught Off Side' Liverpool will confirm the deals of Charlie Adam and Stewert Downing in the next 24 hours

27 Jun 2011 22:54:56
An enquiry from the Reds in respect of Everton's Ross Barkley has been dismissed by the blues, saying he is not for sale. They are determined to resist all interest, particularly from us, but there is a feeling that he will be headed to either City or Man Utd in 12 to 18 months time. It remains to be seen if our interest is followed up in the circumstances.
With regards to talks with Arsenal, apart from the previously reported interest in Gael Clichy, we have also expressed a strong interest in Aaron Ramsey.
Finally, Christian Ericksen is currently the Reds primary target for next Summer, i.e. 2012.

Hi Eds - Just wanted to chip in my pennorth on today's signing-your-rumour / dodgy rumours debate ('skirmish'...?)

For me, it's the peerless blend of authentic-looking, in-the-know-style rumours, humorous asides, and obvious mental ward fantasy that makes this site so special and, more importantly, so compellingly addictive.

If it were to become formalised with registration, etc., it would become a pale imitation of its former self, and you'd lose some of the magic, IMHO.

Plus I imagine the eds perform a certain amount of discretionary censorship already - they can't possibly be publishing every uncle's cleaner's cousin's rumour that comes through.

Anyhow, for what it's worth, here's my sig: Keep the good work up, Eds

Dr. S. Atire.

27 Jun 2011 22:16:14
eds, do you know if there was any truth in the rumour that liverpool were interested in xherdan shaqiri? looks to be a top young player {Ed009's Note - I have never heard of any interest in a player who, apart from moments of magic, is inconsistent and selfish.}

Liverpool will be bidding 12 mill for Turan .. Just waiting for confirmaton.... It will all be in the papers....

I heard a rumour about someone high up in the club has targeted Everton's young striker Hallam Hope. He's viewed in very high regard and will probaly make his first team debut this season.

27 Jun 2011 21:59:38
I posted this earlier but hasn, t come on the site for some reason. I, ve spoke to my mate the other day, he, s a Blackpool fan and also his son, s godfather is Charlie Adam. He told me that he wants to come to l, pool, but the hold up is B, pools chairman is holding out for as much money as possible because of the cuts in the transfer fee. Adam gets 20% Glasgow Rangers get 15% and Ian Holloway gets 5% and the rest to the club. He also told me the only other way the transfer might not happen is if Man Utd come in for him.

27 Jun 2011 21:55:27
Hi ed please post this mate, ive just heard from a reliable source that a bid had been accepted for adam. It involves 6.9 mil and shelvey. Also the signing of Downing will not happen as villa or liverpool will not budge on there value of the player. Mata also will not be coming to anfield as a bid from arsenal has been accepted. We have turned interest in pato from milan which will go public in the next week. Also turan deal might happen as he does not want to go to chelsea and KK admires how much he would like to play for us. And the aaron lennon rumour is true but nothing has come on yet. Also there will be a big signing this window so watch ths space

27 Jun 2011 21:52:08
Ed as a Liverpool fan you think very little of us.Kenny said that he won't bring in players that aren't better than the ones we have. Every day we get diferent names that we have never heard of.I suspect big names to come in once the the window opens in july. Hazzard Carzola Gomez Mata Pastore have all been linked for a reason. Frome the names mentioned atleast 2 to join mark my words and Meireles not to be sold. Kenny will wait. Commoli is the one who wants too sell him.

27 Jun 2011 21:39:33
Ed's if we was to disregard Mata as a potential player, who do you think would be next in line as a "Marquee" signingg? Squishylfc {Ed009's Note - I'm not sure that this marquee signing is something the board will be considering - players will be rated on their quality and value, not how astounding they will be - but if you refer to a truly quality player, I would suggest there is a chance Aly Cissokho could be that player as, although not glamorous as 'just a left back', he is a fantastic player; one that would be interested in joining us.}

27 Jun 2011 21:37:08
Evening all,

I am hearing that Comolli and Oysten talks went well over the weekend and deal has been agreed in principal, Liverpool just need to make an official offer for the deal to go through - this will involve a cash lump sum and a " few" players going to Blackpool on season long loan = Eds so you know of anything about this?

Thanks as always

Jamie {Ed009's Note - I don't know of any specific deal, but I think it is likely the fee is widely known to both parties - it will probably be about 10 million - and players may move on loan to sweeten the deal.}

27 Jun 2011 21:31:20
Is there any truth in the Turan to Chelsea rumours guys. Cheers. Toxteth red {Ed002's Note - It was a proposal made by Galatasaray - not Chelsea. Drogba will not go unless he asks to. Chelesea have been interested in Turan in the past and gala in Kalou. Perhaps something will happen but don't hold your breath.}

27 Jun 2011 21:24:57
My uncles a chef in italy and its a quality restaurant where footballers dine in milan and he spoke to cassano apparently he said that liverpool are interested in pato and there is going to be an official enquiery next week. watch this space. pato to liverpool

27 Jun 2011 21:06:26
I can't believe , that we are not going for Turan, he is the type of Player we need, he has such low center of Gravity fast feet, Loads of tricks for tight situations, displays fast vision as well something we lack, since Alonso, I know using you tube is not the best way to judge a player but there is something about him that makes me think we will regret not buying him

take a look, not his best game but will cause many opponents problems

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs1Qgql_pmM

what's your thoughts on the player Ed's, and other Liverpool Fans
from Dan H {Ed002's Note - I think my views on Arda are well enough published for today. I will post them again tomorrow in order to upset the pestulent vegetable.}

27 Jun 2011 21:06:10
hi gents
just wondered why people keep linking downing with the rw spot when he's naturally a left footer? i know he's played there for villa but surely thats just gonna completely go against the whole point of buying a winger as he's just gonna cut inside.

to me it looks like we're gonna be playing 4-3-3 generally so why the great need for out and out wingers? i know we need flexability and depth but why not look at players like lavezzi, zarate, gervinho who can play anywhere across the top including as wingers and they've all got more pace and skill than downing and co yet they'd be similar sort of prices apart from lavezzi who would be about 20m.

just my view anyway

Talks**te are claiming that Liverpool are not going in for Mata. That radio station is s**te.

27 Jun 2011 21:00:43
Adam to sign by thursday at the latest with downing just after as a fee is still to be agreed. Im afraid to say Mata may not be on his way to Liverpool, even though he says CL isnt a priority for this season, it will still be a bonus for him, so may end up at barca or arsenal. I'm being told Dimitri Payet will be our main focus if Mata doesnt come, with Comoli being a huge admirer of Payet's, this looks like it may be the more likely transfer. Lastly, expect Connor Wickham to be coming within the next week or two. He's a boyhood Liverpool fan and eager to push the move through, so its only a matter of time.

Liverpool wants Beram Kayal from Celtic

27 Jun 2011 20:54:56
we are in the market for DM, why don't we put a 20million pound bid for Feillani to everton. IMO he would be a good signing.

27 Jun 2011 20:49:07
I can officially say marek hamsik will be a Barclays premier league player next season I have a dj friend from slovakia who has connections he told me about skrtel deal and arshavin although he's not from Slovakia. He's not quite sure who he will be with? Possibly liverpool I suggest skrtel should go an speak to him he would be an excellent addition to the squad. Come on reds XUXReds

27 Jun 2011 20:45:29

is doni still coming as reina back up all are we looking elsewhere.

with kyriagos signing a new 1 year contract would i be right in saying this was because we lost out on jones and is dann are main defence target as kenny will wait to get price down knowing dann is holding out for are move.

why have we not made a solid move for a left-back yet the more i think about it the more it seems we already have are left-back from abroad sown up as im sure this will have been the first transfer work completed.

if as expected adam sighns this week and with henderson as well it looks like aqualani and meireles are on there way, has a deal for mccarthy been sorted or have we lost interest.

sissoko could be arriving surely spearing will go out on loan

with kuyt and henderson as cover for right will liverpool just look at the one right winger with maybe a bid for chamberlain for future, hope its not lennon the only guy i want is johnson city will sale but only if they bring someone in.

downing looks to want to come and if he puts in transfer request it will happen and please pepe get on the phone to mata and convince him to come.

up front can see us going back in for wickham but nobody else.

MYSTIC RED

27 Jun 2011 20:42:46
Ed do you think we could actually get xabi alonso back or is it just bulls***? As is wife is from liverpool. And do u have any players in mind that u think we mite get? Thanks.
Stew {Ed002's Note - Alonso may come back one day, but I doubt it will eb this summer.}

27 Jun 2011 20:38:49
Ed, do you think we have a good chance of signing sissoko? There's reports that we're interested but is that just paper talk (sorry if this has already been asked) thanks :) {Ed002's Note - I did answer it earlier and we do have one complete vegetable of a poster who will complain that I should not be answering you, but here goes. He is a good player who I think can get better. He is also attracting interest from from Lyon, Genoa, Juventus, Liverpool and probably Napoli. Arsenal and Milan's interest appears on the wane. Damien Comolli has already let Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool see his man as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard. Right now Lyon appear to have the edge over Liverpool and I am told are pushing for discussions. Liverpool will know what they need to be doing and I would suggest that they may well be doing that this week.}

27 Jun 2011 20:31:39
Apology Ed if you've been asked this mate, but do you know if we are even interested in Cissokho (LB)?

Blair Mayne YNWA {Ed002's Note - Nothing confirmed Blair. Cissokho will probably not be leaving Lyon this summer unless a high fee is paid. Although Manchester City may be willing to oblige.}

27 Jun 2011 20:29:25
we should put a bid in for nani

27 Jun 2011 20:28:56
ed can i just have your opinion on this,
why do you think we are trying to sign sissoko and adam when we already have gerrard, lucas, henderson and spearing?
i know and agree we need strength in depth and competition for places, but do we need 5 centre mids who will want to play every week? and t add to that, meireles is not a certain departure and we cant find a suitor for aquilani. its a bit of a strange one in my opinion. i would have thought we would be adressing other positions after we got henderson.
your thoughts would be appreciated ed.

thanks,

LFC-IRE {Ed002's Note - Sissoko is seen as the long term replacement for Gerrard. Adam, I have no idea why Liverpool want to sign him, sorry.}

27 Jun 2011 20:07:52
ed wat u think of bastos for the left super attacking player losts of pace an of course hes brazilian i think 25 mill would tempt lyon to sell, and wat are our chances of signing cissoko, adam, downing, diego, mata, dann, {Ed002's Note - Bastos is on his way to Juventus. The others were all addressed earlier.}

27 Jun 2011 19:56:16
Arsenal have agreed to let Fabregas leave for Barcelona providing they come back with an expected improved offer on an offer in writing they've just rejected. If they come back with an expected improved offer then we'll then if its enough then yes i expect to sell said a club source. Wonder if thats took any wind out of the Arsenals fans sail's re Mata . Does any of the Eds think this will have any bearing at all where Mata may end up. A team full of French speakers on the decline, or a team half full of Spansih speakers and a great friend in Reina on the up and up.Source BBC teletext. Jonson6 {Ed002's Note - No, I don't expect it to make a difference.}

27 Jun 2011 19:50:24
Hi Ed in response to your last reply, fair enough i understand Just can get a bit annoying see such rubbish at times Hover there was a deal i heard that i forgot to mention. Its regarding a deal for Jesus Navas. This could happen if the Mata deal doesn't come off which is coming increasingly likely as i've heard if Sanchez doesnt go to Barca then Mata will.

27 Jun 2011 19:46:52
If Scott Danns signs for Stoke then i've heard Liverpool are considering a bid for Steven Taylor at Newcastle. This would be for a fee of around 5 million, very reliable source

27 Jun 2011 19:46:46
Just read on BBC teletext that Arsenal are willing to let Fabregas leave for Barcelona. They've already said no to a bid in writing but when asked if the club expected an improved offer, the source said 'Possibly yes, and then if its enough we'll have to sell.

Hi eds i was wondering (i know its none of my business) that to improve the website and gain credibility you could make a members page where only members can post so we know valid transfer rumours and reputation actually counts for something because there is alot of unsigned bulls**t and for all we know this could be genuine. (please post in rumours ed so everyone can see) Great work

Rebel_Red {Ed002's Note - In theory the rule has kicked in but the first three years will see some latitude. three years will see some latitude. Many clubs will abuse the rules for at least this year knowing that the first word against them will be a slapped wrist in a few years time. FSG will not want to spend money for the sake of it, they will expect the club to be self financing and for that European football is paramount.} that European football is paramount.}
----------

I thought the rule was with more regard to wages, and was that your wage bill cannot exceed a certain % of net income? Could be wrong though. It also says that clubs can no longer receive cash injections from owners as an interest free long term loan.

Mr E

{Ed002's Note - It is way more complex that that I am afraid. There is not really space here for me to explain, sorry.}

Liverpool are to offer £20mil plus Raul Meireles for Porto's Star Winger/Striker Hulk. Liverpool acting quickly just incasee Chelsea or Man City make a more attractive offer. RM's agents have contacted Porto about a possible return.

Mata will become lpool player in next 2 weeks wen he returns from holidays, deal has been done with clubs weeks ago, he will join 4 a fee of 20mil and Valencia will also get the gate from friendly in anfield

27 Jun 2011 19:16:22
I hate to reveal this news but I have to because just been informed of it. Charlie Adam will be signing for £8.4m with Jonjo Shelvey going on a season long Loan to Blackpool. The only thing holding up the deal is Jonjo agreeing to the loan deal which he is expected to do. The back up is Daniel Pacheco will be going on loan if Jonjo agrees not to go. Both will still be reassured about their futures at the club however as this will be part of their development. There is also an agreement that Blackpool must play the player over 30 times in the season in all competitions unless injuries prevent otherwise.

I won't put a date on the deal but it is soon. I don't really like Adam but supposed going to have to get used to him being a Liverpool player.

Donnypool

PS: Eds could you stop allowing posts without a signature on the site because it is so annoying with all the random bulls**t posts being put on that make no sense. These people need to be stopped so we can identify the trouble makers who are just posting utter nonsense. Thanks {Ed009's Note - I'm afraid there is no way we can do that, as the majority of posts are unsigned. We can however promote the signing of posts, as this one is doing.}

27 Jun 2011 19:07:28
Adams and Downing to become LFC players by the end of the week. With Connor Wickham following soon after. Regarding the Matta rumours LFC will pull out all the stops to get his signature but according to my source he is keeping his options open. Enrique is still KK's prefered choice for the LB position. The club will also make a move for the Japanese star Honda. EDS I have a question what do you think of the LB who played for England U 21s, Beartram (spelling) I thought he looked class apparently he's being touted around with a price tag of 5 to 6 million got to be worth a punt. I have a freind who is a Forrest fan says they had him on loan from Chelsea and he was fantastic.

YNWA
Elmo 96 {Ed009's Note - I thought he was a good attacking player, but one of England's main problems in that tournament was their full backs inability to defend - it left the wingers needing to track back and a huge hole between defence and attack.}

27 Jun 2011 19:06:01
hi eds what do think the chance of adam signing.do you think he will?do you think he could be first team?and finally if you could buy a player in our budget who would you buy thanks {Ed009's Note - Yes I think the player will sign, and I think he will make many appearances next term as there isn't a first team as such anymore. If I had our budget, and realistically our current appeal to players, I'd sign Juan Mata without a doubt. But it doesn't really Mata because I'm not in charge...}

27 Jun 2011 18:54:12
Hi guys,

From what I have heard yesterday, Liverpool and Arsenal are in deep negotiations at the moment over 3 players swapping clubs. Arsenal really need a center back and have Agger as there first priority (They tried to sign him the last 2 seasons), Liverpool really need a left back, hence all this talk of Clichey but Liverpool also want Walcott to wear our number 10 as a Owen type of forward with pace.

This is where it is all getting a bit complicated as Agger is injury prone so a fee is being haggled between the 2 clubs to take this into consideration but Walcott is injury prone as well so that fee is being taken into consideration on top of that you have Clichey with one year left on his contract so there is a dispute between that fee

I have heard that the whole thing is turning out to be a bit of a nightmare for all concerned BUT that all parties are willing to do business and then there is Mata who both clubs want that is also a sticking point just to add the icing on the cake.

This may have something to do with everything taking so long, has anyone heard the same? Eds can you shed any light?

Tobey {Ed009's Note - I'm afraid it was seemingly impossible to find out anymore than that the two clubs were in negotiations, as both of them keep their cards very close to their chests. Clichy seems the likely bet I suppose, but I don't personally believe the player will sign.}

27 Jun 2011 18:53:46
If arsenal convince Mata to join them KK will turn to Manuel Jorado, and vice versa so I'm told

i still stand by my baines romour, an is our best option. ed do you think anythink will come from the diego romours? an do you think RM will leave?
also think sturrige is worth a shout defo if the bids goin in for him are around 6m {Ed002's Note - The situation with Diego is that his agent has been approaching clubs, not the other way round. As for Sturridge, Chelsea are not going to sell him for £6M.}

27 Jun 2011 19:10:58
Ed I asked earlier about the chances of lamela signin and u said maybe not due to english shady ownership... Could u explain? Thanks. Friday can't come sooner then we will start to find out who kenny wants to buy. Do you know who has the final say on transfers... Kk or dc? {Ed002's Note - You misread it. It is nothing to do with "English". The issue is Lamela has som unknown third party owners. He will not be moving to Liverpool, or indeed England, whilst this is the case.}

27 Jun 2011 19:05:36
I'm sorry but if there plan is to bring in young English talent, the first player they should be thinking about is Jack Wilshere, even just to enquire about him, he is the hottest English talent around at the moment 10 times the player Henderson was last season.

Mata to Arsenal is a done deal, but he is not going there to replace Cesc, he is the direct replacement for Nasri, who is coming to Anfield along with Clichy.

27 Jun 2011 18:26:26
Does anyone fink we need more midfielders?I know we are only linked to him but this sissoko guy from toulouses
why dont we get rid of the s---t we have already like JOVANOVICH, POULSEN, COLE and as much as i dont want to say this even tho he was amazing towards the end of the season MAXI and make room for inbound players.

27 Jun 2011 18:25:29
i posted that Meireles was away to juve last week( 22 Jun 2011 17:44:32) and everyone joked yet now every paper has Meireles off to juve i also said that Rodwell would be coming in if Meireles was sold expect to hear news soon of Rodwell aswell

27 Jun 2011 18:18:39
Ed, whats the latest you know about Turan. Rumours have it he may be off to Chelsea.
Thanks

Wheeler92 {Ed002's Note - Arda Turan will move this summer and looked Atletico Madrid bound, perhaps the move is awaiting Aguero to be sold so that funds are available, but now things appear to be changing. Dortmund, apparently, remain interested but Villarreal and Spurs appear have dropped any interest that they had. I suspect Valencia and Chelsea are keeping a watchful eye on matters but to try and persuade Chelsea to let go of Drogba, Galatasaray have rather surprisingly offered up Arda as part of the deal. I have no idea why Liverpool have not followed up the interest they previously had in the player.}

I know eveybody is sick of the mata rumour but have just been told by a friend that never gets these things wrong that he is going to be in Liverpool tomorrow to sign a pre contract before he goes on his holiday. Fee has apparently been agreed 2 weeks ago but Mata was at the Euros. If he gets this one right he definitely has some top source. If it ends up being through I'll beat it out of him. Called Torres leaving for chelsea by end of transfer window before any site had it. he did call suarez except I did see it before he said it. Called all hodgsons signing to a tee except he said Toivenan would also come and he didn't.

Ed when I asked you on lavezzi earlier you gave him a 4 and others like benzema a 2. Does this mean that liverpool are looking at possibly getting another striker? I think we need one as kuyt does not normally play there and wickham(if we get him) is only a kid. If we want to challenge were need another foward. Do you think we may get one ed? {Ed002's Note - I suspect there are other strikers who stand way more chance of making the move. Wickham, Park Chu-Young, Moukandjo. Keep in mind that Liverpool's interest in Lavezzi pre-dates the January window. He has an agent in Frederic Guerra who does a really good job of talking up his players without being pushy; and a fabulous technique where he denies interest in his players from major clubs thereby attracting attention to them. It is also possible that he will stay at Napoli - who do say he is not for sale.}

Hi Eds. I know you are weary of answering questions regarding Downing and Adam, but here is a question from a different angle that may help everyone understand what's going on with these particular transfers. In your experience, can you say what kinds of things might delay a transfer at this stage of negotiations? I'm sure most people were expecting the Adam deal at least to be sealed by now, and so are wondering what the hold up could be. Hoping your answer will prevent many more people asking the same question later on. Cheers.

Spartan {Ed002's Note - Agreeing price with his club, agreeing terms with the club (sell on clauses etc.), agreeing terms with the player. But to be fair, there is nothing whatsoever to say that there is a delay.}

Spam signed 3 players for over 50M. Only one will be guaranteed a starting job. Phil Jones and Average Young won't start too many games IMO. They need 2 CM and haven't solved that problem yet. There's another 30M (for 2). Giggs is done and needs replacing. We will get Clichy, Adam and Downing. A marquee signing will happen(probably Mata) KK just back from holidays. The plan is in place and we will be closer than many think to competing for a title. Have faith Redmen.

People stop dreaming Mata is not coming. If we get Downing it will be great success.

27 Jun 2011 17:26:53
Do you fink DIEGO maybe coming in for the soon departed RAUL MEIRELES?O ye we should buy erik lamela now that riverplate have been relegated lol

TEAM LAMELA. {Ed009's Note - Perhaps. We have made an enquiry for the player - who is available for a comparatively meagre 10 million euros - and do seem to be interested. It is no more than that at this time though.}

27 Jun 2011 17:22:47
Ed how sure would you say you are of us getting downing? I don't think he is good enough and it wouldn't suprise me if we have other options eg adam johnson or turan that we may be looking at as well but more privately so not many people know. what are you thoughts ed? {Ed009's Note - I think we can be as sure as is ever possible in football that we will get Downing. Liverpool are trying their upmost to complete the deals for him and Adam and all is in hand at the moment. Then again you only need to look at the Marveaux deal to see everything doesn't always work out.}

27 Jun 2011 17:32:05
Ed, you say that downing and adam are on there way. How close do you think they are? Thanks JBLFC {Ed002's Note - There is no way to tell. We know efforts are being made to bring them in. It would be complete guesswork to say what time they will sign.}

27 Jun 2011 17:30:51
Ed's what is your honest opinion Mouassa Sissoko. I personally think he is a fantastic player. And also what do you think of our chances of signing him? {Ed002's Note - He is a good player who I think can get better. He is also attracting interest from from Lyon, Genoa, Juventus, Liverpool and probably Napoli. Arsenal and Milan's interest appears on the wane. Damien Comolli has already let Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool see his man as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard. Right now Lyon appear to have the edge over Liverpool and I am told are pushing for discussions. Liverpool will know what they need to be doing and I would suggest that they may well be doing that this week.}

27 Jun 2011 17:21:07
Ed what chance have we got of signing the following, lavezzi, benzema, higuin, turan or aguero? {Ed002's Note - Not terribly good - 4, 2, 2, 1. Things may change, but that is how it looks right now.}

27 Jun 2011 17:01:38
ed's if mata does decide to leave valencia where do you think his most likely destination will be. i've heard arsenal put in a bid for him, do you expect us to bid for him or not. {Ed002's Note - Please refer to earlier answers.}

Hi Eds
As Lfc fan, I'm left hungry and disappointed the way transfer dealings are going on and the pace at which our club are moving to acquire targets.Well, my expectations may be a bit too high but when I find ManU getting their targets so easily, I'm left wondering if we'll be able to get ours.
What I mean is that it was known well before what the primary targets for ManU were and they've got Phil Jones, Ashley Young and now De Gea. Probably, we Lfc fans also knew of main players who have been hinted to join our club but unlike our rival, we are standing still with only Henderson as the last acquisition.
ManU are the reigning champions.From their League winning team, Van der sar and Scholes only have departed(retired).still they've bought 3 good players.We have to improve our squad to compete with ManU for the title but from what I can see, we are as at now not in the same league as them. My eyes are getting sore reading about Adam, Downing, Mata etc everyday but till yet nothing concrete. we must be having our prime targets as well but again nothing has happened till yet unlike ManU.
I try to take it this way--we are still lagging behind in the transfer window coz we are not in the champions league and coz we've got lots of deadwood to get rid of.
Sorry for my long post.that's my view.hope the Eds will elaborate on that.Thx. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have Henderson already and Adam and Downing on the way by all accounts. So how is that lagging behind? How many have Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Manchester City signed so far?}

27 Jun 2011 16:47:31
Sky Bet have us odds on to sign Mata, but eds if you had to hazard a guess as to his destination after the window closes, I would be interested to know :D

RedBean {Ed002's Note - I am not going to guess where he will end up but Liverpool is a possibility - as are many of the other clubs that have been discussed.}

From Sky Sports

Jose Reina has moved quickly to distance himself from the number one position at Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish outfit are set to find themselves shorn of their first-choice goalkeeper once David de Gea completes his proposed move to Manchester United.

The youngster arrived in England on Monday to undergo a medical and is close to putting the finishing touches to a big-money transfer.

Speculation has already begun to circulate regarding who may be drafted in by Atletico as his replacement.

Liverpool shot-stopper Reina has been touted as a possible candidate, after spending the last six years away from his homeland.

"I know Atletico are looking for a goalkeeper, but I won't be changing colours."
Jose Reina Quotes of the week
Happy

The Reds ace has given short shrift to the rumours, though, by insisting that he remains fully committed to the Anfield cause.

He told La Gaceta: "I know Atletico are looking for a goalkeeper, but I won't be changing colours.

"I have a five-year contract and I'm happy at Liverpool."

Reina will come into direct competition with De Gea next season and he believes the 20-year-old will be a resounding success at Old Trafford.

He said: "I very much welcome this news because David is a great keeper.

"When it becomes official he is going to start working to prove in the Premier League what a good goalkeeper he is."

This may be stating the obvious but here goes:

Downing will join within the next 2 weeks. I have no doubt about that.

Adam deal is hit and miss, we don't want to pay as much as Blackpool want. If we miss out on him, we will look elsewhere and sign another CM.

Clichy will sign but it could cost up to £10m.

A striker will be signed but it will be a young and preferably English striker: Wickham, someone who will play between 10-20 games in his first season. No big name striker will be signed.

I don't believe we will be signing a CB as we already have 4/5 plus Martin Kelly will be used more as a CB which is his natural position.

There will be no other signings UNLESS we can agree a fee for Mata. He will be our only "big name" signing this Summer.

Konchesky will be sold, the most we will get is £3m.

Aquillani will be sold but not until late on in the transfer window, it will be to some Italian club for around £10m.

Poulsen, Cole and N'gog are all for sale so to speak but if no offer comes in, they will be Liverpool players next season.

Other dead wood such as Insua, Degen and Jovanovic will be shipped off but we'll only get peanuts for them.

Shelvey and Wilson to go out on loan.

And finally, unfortunately, Meireles will probably be leaving either to an Italian club or maybe even as part of the Mata deal.

Ed, do you think this sounds faesible? I have no sources just my own common sense. {Ed002's Note - It is all possible.}

a look at things in the mata debate:

man city-positives-champions league his mate silva is there more money. negative-not guaranteed start too many egos and usless style of play.

arsenal:positives being in champions league will start all the time similar style to what he plays. negatives fabregas wants to go as does clichy and possibly other stars.language barrier as not many speak spanish.

man utd:positives being champions league and fellow spaniard de gea. negatives being too much competition for places to much rotation.

chelsea: positives being young coach allow him to play his way starting most of the time fellow spaniard torres also champions league. negative too many egos will manager be there more than 2 years.

barcelona: postives being best team in the world fellow spanish teammates will settle quick.champions league used to style of play. negative being rotation as such a good squad.

LIVERPOOL:positives great man manager.new team project style of play will suit him.will start every game and played where he likes.gets on well with pepe reina and fellow spanish speakers in suarez and maxi.fans already love him even though not signed and shown they want him so much. negative no champions league.

so to sum up if all teams match his valuation its a tough choice and i hope he makes the best one.also his dad said champions league isnt important now aslong as they will be in it.so just because they have europe doesnt guarantee his signature.he also wants first team footie so i would say liverpool arsenal and chelsea would be front runners.DORSET RED

Ed just a question, despite talk of hazard staying at Lille, would it by be worth making an offer fr his services which would be to good fr Lille to refuse? Chances are he's gonna have an another incredible season, inflating his price more and attaching top teams further? Cheers mate Pinion would b appreciated Ps, would it actually be frowned upon to wear the new Liverpool away kit? I don't mind it {Ed002's Note - Hazard is not interested in a move to Liverpool so it seems rather pointless to make an offer. What message would that send to other targets? And by all means slip on the away kit.}

27 Jun 2011 15:57:41
hey ed, do you think we need to act fast and sign quality players in the transfer window after rivals Man Utd have signed 3 good players in Jones, Young, De Gea. I think we need to sign Mata for definatley, a left back and possibly another striker. Please reply {Ed002's Note - Liverpool are doing what they can to complete deals for Adam and Downing. So everything is well in hand.}

LFC will bid 30m for Baines and Rodwell this week .

Kenny dropped his interest in Scott Dann when he discovered that Rodwell will be available , he see him as future top class CB .

Kenny has great relationship with Everton and he is confident that Everton at least will listen to the offer .

27 Jun 2011 15:10:41
Hi fellow Reds. Was talking to my friend in the academy (MN) and he admitted that all players know nothing. He has said that the big rumour amongst the lads is that a big bid has been put in for Hazard. I really hope its true. Do not shoot the messenger by the way. Its only a rumour but he did say it.

27 Jun 2011 15:08:11
Meireles will leave for no less than GBP 12.m. His replacement is Mata who will mainly occupy the position behind the striker and is a better and younger player. Mata has confirmed that Liverpool FC is his destination of choice due to their eagerness to sign him, its tradition, Spanish speakers and project the club has to offer.

Downing will occupy the left wing role with Suarez on the right or vice-versa. Maxi and Henderson will be back up for the wings.

Carroll will be the main striker with Wickham being eased in accordingly.

Kuyt will play in any of the forward positions when called upon and if his good form from end of last season n continues he may well keep a starting place.

Lucas will play alongside Stevie in centre mid. Adam, Sissoko and Spearing acting as back up for the central positions.

New first choice left back to be signed, but NO new centre back this window.

1)c.adam deal is done. just no official statement frm both clubs being made.
2) Downing..lfc only will pay up to 16m..SD need to submit transfer request..
3) Dejan lovren is 2nd choice CB. But might become 1st choice if more money spend on winger and striker.
4)Chu-yong, wickham, lavezzi, cavani all under consideration as LFC target top 4. So need proven backup striker.
5)Juan Mata is keen to move to LFC. Expect to hear bid frm LFC nxt week. Looks like LFC willing to match 22m valued by Valencia.
6)Clichy also want LFC move. 7m is expected to be tabled by DC. Jose Enrique also want LFC move. if Clichy deal fail, enrique will be 1st choice.
7)Moussa Sissoko also to be consider but LFC will not make a move until 2 wingers signed by LFC.

ed what are the chances of getting lavezzi ? a front 3 of carrol suarez and lavezzi would be beyond frightening to any opposition team ? also imo i think if we sign adam and sissoko it will serious hinder the development of spearing and shelvey both of which have bright futures and under KK spearing especially showed what he was capable of. do you agree this may be a poor move to sign both ? thanks Dan Dawson {Ed002's Note - I think there is a possibility, but keep in mind that Liverpool's interest in Lavezzi pre-dates the January window. People will be shocked with the two player liverpool are after one from Italy and one from Spain we are in talks but nothing solid. One of them should sign but I am not mentioning names as only a few people in the media know about these moves and within the club. A bid may only be put in for one, I expect it to break in the media around the second week of july.

would well rather have any of the following players over downing: nzogbia, mata, turan, carzola, elia, hazard, payet, perotti.

eds what are the chances of gettin any of them over downing? {Ed002's Note - Most are possible, but you have to then think about which the club are interested in. The first choice right now appears to be Downing. One or two on the list have little or no chance of making the move.}

27 Jun 2011 14:00:26
Liverpool will show there intent to challenge for honours this season with a big signing. As to who its going to be remains to be seen. possible signings include Bale, Bojan, Pato, Hazard, Defour. A £30 million + bid will be made for at least one of these players within the next 10 days.

I know i am going to get slated for saying this, but i'm starting to get worried with KK and DC. Adam, downing, dann etc are not good signings. Carroll for 35m was dodgy business at best. If you can get David Villa for 27m then we are wasting a hell of a lot of money on someone who will be no shearer lets be honest. Buying young players is all good and well but we could be buying guys like sissoko, mata, sakho, hazard etc who are all young but also established. Selling Meirieles is also a mistake. For the love of god forget these british over rated players and use the money to get the european creme of the crop. I know alot of fans will disagree but also think there are a growing number like myself who are beginning to question 'The King'. Hopefully its all a smoke screen and we are going after the top players.

Hi All,
Dont normally input transfer rumours as not really got to many contacts, but I live in Kirkby in Liverpool were the academy is. A friend of mine who is a boxer and trains on occasion at the David LLoyds Leisure Centre next to the academy knows a member of the LFC coaching staff(who is also from Kirkby, if eds need me to give a clue to back up what has been suggested to me). There were no new names mentioned just that Adam, Downing and Clichy are all but done and that KK is willing to play a waiting game to get the targets he considers imperative for the rebuilding job underway.
I have no reason to doubt this information and as I said its nothing new just kinda backs up what others have been saying I suppose

I just can't get my head round the fact that we are chasing S.Downing when Arda Turan is available and would be in all probability cheaper and he is a self confessed Liverpool fan and it appears Arsenal have entered the race for another little gem in Juan Mata.C'mon Damien sort it out.Turan would give blood, sweat and tears to play for LFC.

Morning Eds and Liverpool family,

River plate relegated - let the Lamela bidding war commence, I simply hope LFC are in there for this bright young talent.

Reports of interest in Adebeyor I hope are just simply press rubbish, don't want the sulky old man who can't score goals anymore

Mata - we have been in negotiations for some time, no agreement yet, now Arsenal interest - this must have been predicted post U21 tournament anyway. Mats clearly stated he will not consider anything until after tournament - let the negotiations really start now.

Mouassa Sissoko - wants to join a sporting project, offer the cash and he is ours if this is true as that is exactly what we are.

Any comments are welcome, thanks for reading.

please please please just sign mata, ed's do u think we will sign him. thiago will not be sold by barca after the euro so i dun think they would need mata and arsenal have bid but everyone has said mata would prefer a move to liverpool, has he actually come out and said this??

Cheers

ps u think we could get a fantasy football league running next year with all the liverpool fans from this site(using premierleague fantasy football perhaps?) {Ed002's Note - There is certainly interest from Liverpool in Juan Mata, and Valencia are preparing for next season without the player. However, I suspect he may end up elsewhere as interest is also being shown by Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United. Barcelona may well also become interested at some point and if they do show their hand I feel he could move there. Manchester City were reportedly heading the queue but had an offer rejected and Arsenal appear to be preparing an offer themselves. It would not be entirely out of the question that Liverpool could push for the player and make a concerted effort to match any other offer; and then there is a chance Mata could join. In order to get the best deal, Valencia wanted to wait (a) to see if Barcelona show an interest; (b) until after the Under 21 Championships where he could well put in a very good performance. A player exchange for David Villa if Barcelona sign Alexis Sanchez is not out of the question in my view.}

Looking at who is available , Turan And Mata are the two i would go all out for . Both of these players bring more to the table than just being wingers. I cant understand why we are so determined to bring in Downing , When these two are so readily available .. I dont see any better on the market at present and that includes Alexis Sanchez ( Remamber Gonzalez Anyone) . Hopefully all the media speculation about other targets is just that , with very little truth about them. ( Ed, Have you heard anything else regarding Turan? {Ed002's Note - Arda Turan will move this summer and looked Atletico Madrid bound, perhaps the move is awaiting Aguero to be sold so that funds are available, but now things appear to be changing. Dortmund, apparently, remain interested but Villarreal and Spurs appear have dropped any interest that they had. I suspect Valencia and Chelsea are keeping a watchful eye on matters but to try and persuade Chelsea to let go of Drogba, Galatasaray have rather surprisingly offered up Arda as part of the deal. I have no idea why Liverpool have not followed up the interest they previously had in the player.}

Downing will not be signing any time in the next few days.
The player wants to come and LFC have made it known that they would like to take him.
Liverpools valuation is 12 - 14m. McLeish wants to hold out for 17 - 19m.
It will be a long drawn out affair but I'm confident an agreement will be reached. McLeish will not want a player who doesn't want to be there but will hold out for as much money as possible.
I'm still confident that Clichy will happen (first posted on 3rd May).
Same situation as Downing, he wants to come and we want him. But he's giving Wenger the respect of listening to what he wants to say. I'm pretty sure he won't change his mind though.

Hey ed, in regards to Sissoko, do you know if our link to him has reached the stage of a bid being submitted, or are we still merely just showing an 'interest'?

DownUnderRed. {Ed002's Note - There has been confirmed interest for many weeks. No bid has been submitted to Toulouse. Moussa Sissoko is attracting interest from from Lyon, Genoa, Juventus, Liverpool and probably Napoli. Arsenal and Milan's interest appears on the wane. Damien Comolli has already let Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool see his man as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard. Right now Lyon appear to have the edge over Liverpool and I am told are pushing for discussions.}

Hearing like all of you that Arsenal will bid 20.56 million for Juan Mata. The player ideally would want to join Liverpool, but with the club stalling over a move, Arsenal have taken pole position in the race to sign the wing wizard. Should Liverpool match or better Arsenal's bid expect him to arrive at Anfield - but if we keep delaying our bid expect him to move to Arsenal or even Barcelona

Adam and Downing deals will be completed by Thursday or Friday - ideally the club wants them done by Wednesday, so that we can concentrate on getting our International targets

On the left-back front i expect to see a player not yet linked with the club join - i hear that the player is attracting interest from Utd, City and an unnamed Italian side

Thats all for now folks

Arsenal just made a bid for Mata

We need Arda Turan, he is a player with terrific amounts of skill and most of all he wants to play for us.I seriously do not want to see him in a chelsea shirt

to transfers:

Adam deal very close.Sources all over the net reporting he is on the verge of signing.So there should be some truth to it.

Arsenal have made an 18 million pound bid for mata but wont ever get him at that price lol , he is easily valued at least 21 million pounds.So no worries there however barca are the biggest threat to his signature.

p.s love the site, i check it everyday , TWICE want to say thank you to the edsKeep it up

Lets hope king kenny is an admirer of his site and reads this LOL.

Fellow reds and eds
PS: forgot to finish my earlier post
the two players that my source said we were going to make a real effort to sign are Bale and Aguero in the next summer window

Another players we've been looking at and have had on some list for over 3 years (?? i didn't think a list could be that old :S) is Lacina Traore who had replaced Lukaku as our target... but since Carrol signed who knows

Charlie Adam will become a Liverpool player, but this will not be done today as many expect. The Blackpool chairman is still playing a bit of hard-ball and is demanding a bit more cash plus young Jonjo on loan. I am just guessing and reckon that it will be announced on wednesday with Downing in by friday. Just my opinion.

Ed -
What's happening as far as you know with Scott Dann? A few weeks ago we seemed nailed on to get him due to the fact he was a season-ticket holder at Anfield in his youth.
Now, Arsenal, Stoke & Villa and being linked to him daily and we seem not to be being mentioned anymore
Has the club's interest in the player cooled?
Is the price Birmingham want too high?
Has KK decided he doesn't need anymore CDs?
What do you think is happening?

Great site - keep up the good work {Ed002's Note - As previously explained, Dann is still recovering from injury. I doubt much will happen before he is fully fit.}

27 Jun 2011 11:02:19
Hi Eds Fellow Reds everyone keep up the good work thoroughly entertaining stuff.
Just like to say the Liverpool Daily Post list our targets as Adam, Downing, Wickham, Chamberlain and don't mention anybody else at all? T

Press reports are emerging that we are about to sign Charlie Adam for £8m plus Steven Darby with Shelvey being loaned for a season. Sounds like a fair compromise. Reality Red

Hey fellow reds and eds..
a few months ago i posted a couple of times and mentioned two different lists of players that i had heard about from more than one source... you might remember the list as it contained certain names no one has mentioned... until more recently
these were Moussa Sissoko, Coentrao, Pato, Santon, Javier Pastore and Alexis as well as Neymar and Hulk

Well i can confirm that we are, indeed, looking at Moussa and i can tell you, compared to him adam is worth less than the lases on his own boots. Plus his club want to cash in because Real, Barca and a lot of clubs have been watching him for a while. Now, apparently, we are in the driver's seat again. He was initially watched by Rafa during his last two seasons and kenny liked him then too - lets hope [i kinda believe this]

I have also mentioned Pato, [which i a name that people have begun finally picking up... what do you think?]

I can also mention two other names
but remember - all the above and the two i will mention now are RUMORS that i and you all can only speculate on... but these do come from a person who is often right about interest in players (they may or may not sign later...he never speculates on whether transfers will go through)

The two new names in the wind are; Llorente and Wilshere.
Next transfer window will see us pull out all the stops for TWO players

Plus contrary to popular belief, i heard that - "LFC did NOT make a Ramos inquiry - simply put we cannot afford him" {Ed002's Note - Everyone is well aware of the interest in Sissoko and what Comolli has said about him. The chances of the restof your list moving to Liverpool are as follows:

Coentrao = 0, Pato = 0, Santon = 3, Javier Pastore = 0, Alexis Sanchez = 0, Neymar = 0, Hulk = 0.

I suspect their will not be too much speculation on Wilshere.}

27 Jun 2011 10:57:06
Eds so the interest in sissoko looks serious. So do you think this is instead of adam? If not i can only see that there is going to be a change to our midfielders. Can you see Raul, Poulson, Aqualani and one other going? Bearing in mind that would leave us with gerrard, henderson, lucas, adam, sissoko, shelvey and spearing? all that can play in the CM. I believe that henderson will play CM as we are looking at downing and other wingers to play right so i cant see us paying over 13mill on a player to sit on the bench. Would love your opinion?

P.S who would you rather sissoko or adam? {Ed002's Note - Sissoko would be in addition to Adam. I can see Meireles, Aquilani, Shelvey (perhaps on loan) and Poulsen leaving.}

Hi eds,
Just wondering if a swap deal of aqua for Vargas would be possible? I haven't seen much of fiorentina this year so I don't know if they have much talent in centre mid. I think it would be a great bit of business - a high earner off the wage bill in exchange for a player who can cover the whole left flank and weigh in with a few goals a season. Thanks for all your great work eds,
Matlock. {Ed002's Note - His agent will be doing what he can to find him a new club. If such an option existed it would be looked at.}

27 Jun 2011 10:47:18
ed espn are reporting that charlie adam is widely expected to sign for us today. Do you think that they are right or do you think there's a bit more to run in this one?
thanks Eoghan {Ed002's Note - We know that an effort is being made to strike a deal - why does it matter when it happens?}

From Sky Sports:

Liverpool and Newcastle are in negotiations with Moussa Sissoko, according to the Toulouse midfielder's agent.

The 21-year-old has previously admitted that he is ready to move on and his club are reported to be prepared to listen to offers in the region of £13million.

Liverpool have long been linked with Sissoko, but there is said to be rivalry from Premier League competitors Newcastle and European heavyweights Inter Milan.

According to the powerful central midfielder's representative, Bacary Sanogo, Lyon are also hopeful of securing a deal in what is developing into at least a four-way battle.

"The link with Lyon is serious, but it is not the only one, " Sanogo said in the Liverpool Echo.

"There are also negotiations with Liverpool, Newcastle and Inter. Things should seriously move next week.

"His priority is a club with a major sporting project."

Have read on Sky Sports that us, Newcastle, Inter Milan and Lyon are racing for Moussa Sissoko. However, what's struck me is what his agent has said at the end of the article:
"His priority is a club with a major sporting project"
Now I may be reading a bit into this, but Inter are pretty much a finished article and would unlikely get a game with Cambiasso and Motta to compete with, Lyon are the same really, easily one of the best teams in France, not much of a project. Newcastle are a project, but Europe looks 2-3 seasons off and even then I doubt their chances with Pardew in charge, so that leaves us. The Liverpool project is massive, maybe we're his first choice? Eds? {Ed002's Note - Interest in Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko from both Juventus and Milan is on the rise. Liverpool will be looking to tie up a deal for the player. Damien Comolli has already let Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool see his man as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard. Aside from strong interest from Juventus and AC Milan, Genoa and probably Napoli are also interested. Arsenal's interest is transient at best.}

Sochaux sensation Boudebouz admits to having talks with Liverpool :

Liverpool target Ryad Boudebouz confirmed he has been in talks with the Anfield club, but claimed he is no rush to quit Ligue 1 side Sochaux.

Attacking midfielder Boudebouz, 21, had an outstanding season for the French club, helping them to finish fifth and qualify for the Europa League.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is keen to add youth and depth to his squad and Boudebouz is high on his list of targets.
'Liverpool are a big club and there has been contact, ' the attacking midfielder told L Est R publicain. 'But I have to take my time, see the [Sochaux] president, discuss things through.

'I plan on being at pre-season training on Wednesday. If there s a big money offer, perhaps it will be impossible to say no. I don t want, at all costs, to leave Sochaux, but if there s an offer, I ll think about it.'

Boudebouz starred for Algeria in last year's World Cup, featuring in the 0-0 draw against England. He switched allegiances to the country of his parents birth having represented France at youth level.

The left-footed sensation is considered one of the hottest young properties in Europe.

These will be the only other additions in the summer:
A.Johnson 18m
J.Mata 23m
G.Cahill 16m
G.Clichy 6m
C.Adam 9m

If either Johnson/Mata don't move, then downing is back up option.

The statement of intent, is to deal with selling some players to show new players there place in the squad, I never mentioned marquee signings, but if places are available in the squad, it shows your chances of getting game time. {Ed002's Note - My experience is that incoming players don't need such statements of intent. Clearly discussions must have happened about those players the club will be looking to release if they cannot be sold, and those the club will be looking to sell. With the market as it is and Liverpool locked in to some difficult contracts (e.g. El Zhar's £30k plus per week), this could prove an expensive summer for "clearing the decks".}

27 Jun 2011 09:45:58
There are rumours that Liverpool officials have met with their Tottenham counterparts. The assumption that discussions are regarding Lennon or Cole are apparently wrong however. Supposedly, we are in talks over Assou-Ekotto provided we get nowhere with Clichy. A pinch of salt may just be required with this one however, as the rumour comes from that well-known spring of truth... Twitter.

Id just like to say to eveyone bitching and moaning about missing out on this player and that player and wanting this and that. The second half of the season we finished second in the table and this was with alot of injurys playing with youngester etc. So even if we didnt sign anyone i would be confident of having a good season next season. Now with everyone having a proper pre-season together under KK and everyone back fit, I think we'll be just fine. We will no doubt sign players and I trust in KK to bring in the player we need, maybe not glamour signings but missing piece's. Remember you don't need a team of superstars to win things (istanbul being testiment to this) just a team that plays together. And for everyone bitching a moaning, remember where we were this time last season, grow up and support your team and have faith as the people running the show know far more about football than the lot of you put together and if you dont like it there's the door.

Voice of Reason {Ed009's Note - post of the week. Everybody on here needs to remember: this isn't Rafael Benitez, it isn't Roy Hodgson or Gerard Houllier at the helm - its Kenny Dalglish. Trust in the King, and trust in what he's building, because there is simply no point in doing any different.}

27 Jun 2011 09:30:50
Lennon is a non starter, KK not interested. There is lots of tak about Downing but has been no contact between either club, the player or his agent, looks like alot of paper talk to me I have heard that Odemwingie, Parker, Etherington, Jenas and Defoe have all been offered to us by their respective agents, apparently there is an interest on our part in two of them. {Ed002's Note - There is without doubt interest in Downing - like it or not.}

27 Jun 2011 09:26:22
We could get 2 world class wingers (Turan and Mata) for the price of 1 Andy Carroll more or less... If Kenny bought them he could buy as much dodgy 'English' talent as he likes - those 2 would do the business. (And we could pay them the same as Jovanovic & Cole) What do you reckon Ed? {Ed002's Note - You need to take it up with the management team. Both players are available but the winger who is closest right now is Downing.}

27 Jun 2011 09:07:21
Source close to KK is that clichy deal a done deal and that 4-5 other deals to come

27 Jun 2011 05:55:09
Just read in todays media that if Downing does not come then Kenny will go after lennon for 20M??
Is it true ED please confirm from your sources.
Should by the looks of these signings we all reads prepare for another poor season where we are out of title race after 5 weeks.

liverpool to bid for mata to beat off arsenal to sign the winger YNWA lfc liquid

27 Jun 2011 05:40:24
So below are the rumors from todays papers.
1. Man U want thiago alacentra for 15M (Spelling).
2. Man U want Izzuguairre for 7M (Spelling).
3. Chelsea want Turan for 18M
4. Arsenal want Mata for 18M

And we off course are after world class players such as Downing and Adam plus have signed Hendo for 16M.
Now call me any names my fellow reds but I am not happy if you believe even a 16M hendo is better then thiago lets say at 20M then you are drunk and as I say your Judgment is shrouded by blind faith.
ED I was so depressed after reading mornings papers can you cheer us up please say Liverpool will sign Messi for 50M thats the only thing which will revive me.
Regards
Red Indian {Ed002's Note - All I can say RI is that as the International transfer window has not opened there is a long way to go. We know, for example, that Mata has been enquired after by Liverpool, no if the club wish to take it further a package has to be put together. I very much doubt Chelsea will accept the offer put forward by Gala for Arda, so there is a chance to leap in there as they are hawking him around the market, meaning a deal with Atletico has probably not happened.}

Pablo Piatti
'La Liga's Hidden Jewel' is what they call him. Standing at only 1.63 m (5 ft 4 in) tall, the 22-year-old sheds a slight resemblance with Barcelona's sensation Lionel Messi (seriously). Piatti's had quite a decent campaign last season, with 8 goals and 4 assists from a total of 35 appearances for Almeria in Spain's top division. Almeria may only be a tiny club located on the historical and geographical periphery of the Spanish game, but Piatti is certainly a player who demands a great deal of attention.

Like Lionel Messi, Pablo Piatti has pure intelligence in ball control and also precision in front of goal, a deadly finisher.
What do you recon ed's? any of you rate this guy ?

BRIXTONRED {Ed002's Note - Piatti may well head to Benfica Atletico Madrid, Udinese or even Valencia. In England, Wigan, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Spurs have shown an interest. Benfica and Udinese have their noses out in front right now.}

27 Jun 2011 04:00:18
hi eds
who are the most likely to buy mata,
us.arsenal or man city .

thankyou eds and you are all doing a great job {Ed002's Note - It is impossible to say until bids are made. Manchester City have made a bid and it has been rejected. Arsenal are reported to be preparing a bid. Liverpool, we know, have made enquiries. I would not discount Barcelona either.}

Aaron Lennon has joined the long list of players Liverpool are hoping to sign, with the Reds rumoured to be planning a £20m bid for the Spurs winger.

From metro.

Eds....i'm just thinking this could be more than just a rumour, and I could almost certainly see a swap deal; With Meireles going the opposite way to replace Modric.

A win-win for both parties.

PS: Yes, some people will be disappointed with the departure of Meireles but Adam is a better player for me. Better passing, movement and scores more goals.

Chipkin9 {Ed009's Note - I would agree with the Adam over Meireles thing - half the price and half the wages too - but I just don't think Lennon is anything like good enough.}

Liverpool are renewing interest in Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez as the club look to add more quality for their next Premiership campaign.

The Anfield side were originally interested in Gomez prior to purchasing Andy Carrol and Luis Suarez in January however it is believed the Liverpool board wish to add one further top striker to provide goals and competition for places. Although from Germany, the player is deemed young enough at 25 years to be one for the future of Anfield and although Bayern Munich will not be happy to see the player leave they are preparing themselves for a bid of around 35m.

Gomez has struck the net 38 times for the Bundesliga giants in 61 league appearances and has scored 19 times in 46 international appearances. Liverpool have already signed Jordan Henderson for around £20m this summer however the board have claimed that Henderson was just the first of many high quality players that Liverpool had planned on bringing to the club this summer.
