Federico Chiesa is taking English lessons.

Make of it what you will but the last time I posted this it was about coutinho about 6 months before we signed him.

Definitely going to Chelsea then - if he was really committed he’d be learning Scouse!

Would love to see Chiesa in a Liverpool shirt. He is extremely mature as a player considering he's only 21. Scored a hat trick against Roma this season. Reminds me a lot of Sterling at the same age. It's only a matter of time before he starts scoring 20 goals a season.

Heard a lot about this fella MK but never watched him play. Other than the sterling similarities do you know much else about him? I know he's very well thought of.

Istanbul I've only seen him a when I've been watching Roma play Fiorentina. He has a low centre of gravity, protects the ball well at pace, and is pretty handy on either foot. He's predominantly a right footed right winger though. Very composed on the ball and in front of goal. He needs to work on his crossing and his one touch passing from what I've seen but he's such a superb talent. Those deficiencies can hold him back though as if a defender just stands off him he doesn't have the quality to deliver from deeper areas or the one touch passing brain to consistently play around them with a one-two. They rate him massively in Italy though and his potential is there for all to see. Klopp would get the best from him for sure.

{Ed002's Note - As a replacement for Salah then?}

Question Ed002,

at what stage do the players we sign stop becoming replacements and start becoinmg additions to the squad. If we want a team to compete on all fronts without straining positions shouldn't we be looking to add more quality depth?

Obviously on the right its different with Shaqiri being there unless he was moved more central.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The expectations of many of the fans are completely unrealistic with them thinking numerous £100M players will be added to give the squad depth. Liverpool are not in the position to make such purchases at all. Squad depth comes from having players who are content to come in and play when required and not players who demand playing time. Liverpool need decent cover for certain positions, not the “marquee” signings many of the fans expects the change in stance to try and buy the league cannot go on much longer.}

C'mon Ed002 don't burst, we are only asking for Dybala, Chiesa, Icardi, Werner, Fekir, Depay, it is all doable. My uncle's mate's mechanic is in the know. Because his mailman's dog groomer once cut the arse hair of the gatekeeper's leopard at Melwood.

27 Mar 2019 16:17:04
Ed002, I didn't think Chiesa would have been a big Marquee signing, however I've just seen his €70 asking price. *gulp* I miss the days when you could get players like Torres for 24m.

Thanks Eds.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I did not realise they dropped the price so far - a higher price was told to at least two sides who have held discussions with Fiji about him. Another side is looking for discussions as soon as they can - I will be able to find out what they are asked as well.}

27 Mar 2019 16:40:50
Maybe Ed002. If someone comes in with a huge offer and Salah wants to go, we'd be silly to force him to stay. Chiesa would be an ideal replacement. He's played 96% of Fiorentina's games according to Transfermarkt so I doubt he'd be interested in anything other than being an automatic starter. 12 goals before we're even in April is a good return considering he plays for a mid table team.

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath about a move to Liverpool. Last week Dybala was @nailed on@.}

27 Mar 2019 16:49:10
Yeah of course Ed, I've already got Dybala 7 on the back of my replica shirt 😉.

I don't think he is going to Chelsea they bought Pulisic.
He is a really Good in fm 2019! I bought him for Inter de Milan and Won the Serie A and Italy Cup.

No reason not to keep tabs on the likes of Chiesa, Werner, Sancho, etc.

Not because we should spend 100m on backups, but because players' agents are talking to other clubs all the time (that's their job), and any sensible club will stay on top of the transfer market in case they need to find a replacement for any player at any time.

And yes, I'm talking specifically about our number 11.

After Torres, Suarez, Coutinho, etc I'm sure none of us are naive about how the football world works.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - What are you talking about ‘keep tabs on’ - how would the club do that?

28 Mar 2019 20:42:11
ed002, ever heard of a clubs scouting system, bit unfair all this sarcasm to genuine posters. blue nose getting a bit snotty?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about - you clearly have little understanding about the entire business which is perhaps why you have registered a new account to bitch and whine like this. Perhaps just an ignorant red nosed glifnard?}

28 Mar 2019 21:29:42
I think what everyone means is we were close to buying Fekir for a 50-60 million fee. I know Shaqiri has come in since but he could very well be sold next window as well, which would free up a space.

There’s no doubt we need to strengthen we all know that. However I can see a 50 million player arriving next window, it’s just how the windows are now.

To be honest I’m hoping for someone like Brandt, would be ideal for us and would slot into system easily.

Hi Ed's

Any insight into what Keepers we have interest in please? With Mignolet no doubt ready to move on in the summer do we have any main targets?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest being decalared in goalkeepers.}

26 Mar 2019 19:41:33
Really hope Grabara is given a chance to be back up to Allison.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You mean not to play any longer?}

26 Mar 2019 19:51:04
2nd choice goalkeepers get so few minutes, especially at lfc currently, that I think it makes sense to promote someone like Grabara to number 2. If we get some lucky draws in the cup competition then perhaps he can get some early games against lesser teams where there will be less pressure anyway.

We can then bring in a 3rd choice who is perhaps a much older player on a free who had a lot of experience and would act almost as an additional goalkeeping coach.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Mar 2019 20:34:45
Given that Alisson is only 26 and presumably has at least 10 years playing at the top level Grabara would not want to waste his career sitting on the bench.

Give him the domestic cups and any dead rubber games in the champs League group stage. That could be anything up to double figures even. At 20 for one of the best sides in the world i think he'd be happyt wiith that. Very good young goalie, made a worldie save against england u21's last week and has been very impressive since he came to the club.

Hi Ed's, not a rumour, or shall I say qualified rumour. Someone suggested to me we are looking at Memphis Depay after both VVD and Gini recommended him.
Say it ain't so?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea whether the players recommended him but Liverpool has watched Lyon this season but I am not aware of interest in Depay.}

26 Mar 2019 14:28:16
Didn't we try and buy him before he went to United?

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

26 Mar 2019 14:39:27
He chose United because his father figure Louis Van Loss went there. By chance Ed's can you share who we were watching?

Agree5 Disagree0

26 Mar 2019 13:55:32
Do you no or can you say who we might of been looking at Ed please or not?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It will simply have been general scouting perhaps looking again at Felix. Lyon will not want to be screwed around by Liverpool again and Liverpool has no interest in any of their players.}

26 Mar 2019 14:24:16
Hola! would you know who it is Liverpool has been watching at Lyon Ed002? There are a few players there that could add quality to the squad IMO.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I would not expect any Lyon players to be moving to Liverpool this summer.}

26 Mar 2019 17:40:52
Thanks as always Eds.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Mar 2019 19:13:20
Ed002, when you say it might have been Felix, you mean Liverpool had scouts at the Benfica - Lyon game back i august?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - it was autocorrect for Fekir. Felix is of no interest to Liverpool and won’t be moving to Liverpool.}

26 Mar 2019 11:09:11
I have to ask, ed002 any truth in the Moreno rumours to Barca. Good luck to him if it's true!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware, Barcelona are already discussing bringing in one first team starter at LB an one for the future at LB.}

26 Mar 2019 15:35:09
Looks like Lazio could be his next destination.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Mar 2019 10:27:08
Hi Ed's

Is it likely Moreno will leave this summer? Aware he has an offer from us of a new contract but seems Lazio and Barcelona are interested and the lad needs to be playing games.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Lazio have been talking to him about a contract - he will leave in the summer.}
