rumour has it that Liverpool would be happy to off load mignolet as they believe is doesn't cut the mustard, they made a mistake buying him.
I hope this is true, I believe he doesn't fill our back 4 with confidence like a top keeper should.
I would love us to bring in Begovic - which would also give young english Butland a chance to play.

heard a similar thing don't be surprised to see Reina challenge anyone know how well he did at napoli?
Mignolet has good and bad moments, he is young though so maybe he can be trained up. But one year of training hasn't done it!
What happened to the Mexican keeper in the World Cup - Ochoa I think. He is a free agent in the French league, has he been signed up? What about Casillas? Ospina?
So fellow reds, any other realistic keepers you would like?
Don't see it personally myself, I think you'll see a whole new mignolet this season.
He did make some howlers but also like you say with defence not having confidence in him, he also may not have confidence in the men in front of him.
He was left exposed a lot last season by the defence.
And another kick in the gonads for a Liverpool player, I've said in the past keep the faith in him he will become an excellent keeper.
Mignolet is a good keeper no doubt but early into last season it was apparent that he wasn't particularly comfortable with the ball at his feet nor with his distribution.
Back then it seemed odd that Brendan would buy a keeper who didn't fit the way his team plays from the back and with the rumours going around some have mentioned that he (and even Sakho) may have been committee signings.
Personally I like Simon, a great shot stopper, has age on his side but maybe that works against him too seeing as he doesn't command his area that well. His distribution though annoys me constantly. I doubt he will be sold this window. Last season he was a positive upgrade on Reina and this upcoming season he could be better - there's room for improvement.
Migs is 26 in terms of GK that is still very young. Neuer is 28.
I can't think of many keepers younger than him who are any better, even Begovic is 27.
I say give him one more season. With two massive commanding CBs in front of him in Sakho and Lovren he could massively improve this year. If not then we look again next season.
And if Reina does stay then if anything that will spur Migs on to better things. Nothing like the threat of losing your place to spur on the best players.
I'm not sure they want rid of him but they do want some serious competition for him.
I don't believe that, you will see our defence much stronger this season, and yes with Mig in goal .
I am 100% with the original poster. Mignolet is a decent shot stopper but not an organiser and does not inspire confidence.
Reina is all of these things. I really hope that there is nothing personal with him and BR and Pepe gets a fair crack at the starting spot. If not then we absolutely need a new keeper (can anybody think of a keeper that we could sign that would be better than Pepe?)
Begovic please.
Can't believe the short term memory of those calling for reina between the sticks. Sure mignolet made mistakes last year but the guys a toddler in terms of goalkeepers and the team still finished second. Compare that to Pepe's mistakes in his last season when they didn't even qualify then he tries to engineer a move away. Sorry but I'd rather a relatively inexperienced keeper in between the stick's than an experienced keeper who's not willing to take responsibility for his own performance and is prepared to sit on his backside an pick up 100k a week wages.
Still think we perhaps should be looking at a new GK coach. Not convinced with the job Achterberg has done with either Reina or Mignolet.
We need to pretend that Mig shortcomings are down to his young age. How old is Courtois?
The issue with Mig is his aerial game, his distribution and his ability to direct and command his area. Mig has been an issue for Liverpool last season. And I am not convinced that he has what it takes to remedy those weaknesses
Agree with the last post. Achterberg has done a terrible job at Liverpool.
The problem is Achterberg, personally I think a new Gk coach is needed, maybe look at Brad fRiedel in as Gk coach and cover the bench

That is not the case. We're trying to offload Reina, and if we can do that we will try to get another gk in (like Given last yr), but that would be a backup/challenger, not a 1st choice. Mignolet will be our 1st choice this season.
Dont you remember his mistakes around xmas and the man city game where he let the ball fall out of his hands and into our goal making it 2 - 1 to city and also 3 points to them, maybe it was the mistake that lost us the prem, but hey he is a good shot stopper, his own mistakes cost us very dear last season, his mistakes were not the defences mistakes, they never dropped the ball into our net, there is a few german keepers that we should get, or looked at,
I think it's harsh criticizing mignolet he did make a couple of mistakes last season but people quickly forget about the first few games of the season that he helped us out big time, remember our 1-0 win against stoke first game of the season when he saved a penalty late on, we end up going on a little run who knows maybe if that had have went in the league would have be different for us completely
Ha, mickey! I remember his mistakes, but do you remember his fantastic saves? For example - his double save (penalty) against Stoke in 90'?
Absolutely agree that Mignolet is terrible in distribution and bad in commanding area, but he has made some brilliant saves that led us to many games won by 1 goal margin. Moreover, I can say that we would be outside top 3 without him. He may not be a completed keeper, but he has done a great job last season, despite some bad mistakes.
To the guys who talk about the majesty of Reina - come on! Did you forget the games we lost with 1 opportunity for the opponent? Every single shot on target ended with goal. Reina is the worst of the high-paid keepers. Yes, he was good many years ago, but so was Torres! Now we need to look ahead.
Personally, I would like us to sell Reina and Mignolet. Then bring two keepers in, an obvious no1, such as begovic (he would be my no1 choice all day). Also, a second who who be less of a financial burden on the club.
this way we get rid of reina who we all know wants to go back to spain and has high wages. Plus, we get rid of Mignolet (Im assuming his wages are quite high too?), as we havn't got time to wait for him to become a complete keeper, our defence is getting a reshuffle, this should include the keeper. Begovic would fill likes of Lovren and Sakho with confidence behind them, hopefully resulting in a much better defensive record for the up an coming season. This is a must, as let's admit it, we will not score as many goals next season with suarez gone. Therefore, the difference needs sorting to give us a chance of the premier league.
Lancelot
your right but that game was not against our nearest rivals for the prem and but it never happend just once, he did it a few times, people learn from mistakes, even if they make them again, but he is not for me, just because he is a good shot stopper does not make up for all his mistakes, we need a keep who is good at most things like something what they done all their life and that is distribution, he does not fill me with confidence, imagine how the defenders feel
That's fair enough it's a matter of opinions, I couldn't ever see the point signing mignolet in the first place because he wasn't comfortable with the ball at his feet, but he's better than a lot of keepers at other things, personally I'd like reina back I honestly think he's up there with the best, I like begovic too but it's the same thing with distribution he has spent so many years kicking it long that he might not be comfortable playing the little short passes either
If you think that goal against man city was migs mistake, you have a lot to learn about football mickey
