Hi Eds,

With Milan seemingly back away from Kaka, is there any chance we could look to loan him in? Madrid must be desperate and we need experience in our team!

knightza AU {Ed002's Note - No.}

Why have we no experience gerrard carra reina agger skertyl glen downing enrique and suarez.......think that's enough till the summer.

Why would Madrid be desperate ?

Well this is in response to Mourinho's comment that he'd prefer to loan Kaka out to find his best form as he doesn't have it at the moment in Madrid.

knightza AU

If the wages are not a problem the loan off Kaka would be a excellent deal for Liverpool IMHO.
Bozrog McGurk

The Kaka thing has come up for the last 3 transfer windows and of course the wages are the problem [ even if we had an interest in Kaka which I don't believe we do ] so it won't happen.

hey eds,
What will happen when Andy Caroll comes back from west ham? Does West ham have a loan to buy deal? If so how much would we get if west ham decided to buy him with the loan to buy deal?

YNWA Zach {Ed002's Note - It is a loan-to-buy deal but I do not know the provisions of it.}

We'll probably let him leave on loan again next season, then the season after too, eventually selling him for next to nothing........

As far as I know, what was said at the time. 2m loan fee, West Ham paying 100% wages & 17m in summer to sign permanently.

Best we can hope for is Carroll has a much better second half of the season, keeps fit, score some goals and drums up as much interest in him as possible, some team will take him for that money, hopefully Newcastle are left in desperate measures and throw the 17m at it in the summer :-))

Have you been on a different planet this season, the deal is well documented, loan to buy if they stay up 17 million.
Paul the red

I wouldn't be so sure if that, Paul.

West ham have the 1st option to buy for 17 million providing they stay up ...
secondly that have to reach an agreement over wage/ bonuses etc this is where west ham will be able to get out of buying a/c personel terms won't be agreed .. so far 1 goal out of 12 games 80/90k a week as a west ham fan i'd say no he aren't worth 17 mill 5/10 max

The terms of the loan (from a lawyer who works for WH are as such):

2m Loan fee
17m tabled offer to buy in the event that WH do not get relegated (+1m performance related bonus that looks frankly unlikely at this point, if not already impossible).

An agreed wage offer of 80k for Carroll.

However, Carroll agreeing to the loan has not pre-determined that this deal goes through. Carroll retains the right to refuse the contract. It is far from inconceivable therefore that WH will make it clear when they table the agreed offer that they don't really want Carroll, who will consequently refuse to sign. Equally, there is an option for Liverpool to reject the deal, as they are not tied into accepting the offer. It seems unlikely that this will happen though.

Eds, are there currently any loan offers on the table or currently being worked on for any of our players? Youth or first team that you know of.. I keep seeing Coates a lot obviously. BR said about one youngster going out in his conference but was that Ngoo? Any answers would be great.

Cheers AlBie {Ed001's Note - Coates is the most likely to go out on loan, nothing done yet that I know of, but I wouldn't rule out him getting a loan move. Any other players are more likely to go in the loan window to the Football League, which means it will be sorted out after this transfer window closes.}

26 Jan 2013 21:55:51
Michael ngoo is on Ioan at hearts along with wilson, scored today and a final to look forward to, well done young Michael. jIr63

How many more players will Liverpool sign this month eds,

William Weir {Ed002's Note - Unless someone leaves, probably just one.}

Sorry to ask ed002 but can you clarify if by one you mean you think coutinho or do you mean one after coutinho, as in ince too?
Jason {Ed002's Note - After Coutinho.}

Thank you ed002, hava great weekend mate.
Jason {Ed002's Note - And you Jason.}

Skyitalia= inter manager has just been interviewed to confirm the transfer of coutinho.
Personal terms also agreed with Liverpool.
He said that lfc have to tie up the last strings (obviously the work permit) but he thinks that its a done deal.
He said the club will use the money to complete acurrent deal. rubbish that southampton have made him more expensive for us..... but looking at some videos of him, he's going to be a kop favorite........ he takes the piss betterthan saurez !!

Stokesy

When the Coutinho rumours started they mentioned that Liverpool had bid low but were expecting to have to pay 8m. Almost all media reports are now saying the fee will be 8.5m. I'm not convinced that Southampton affected the price as it seems the player had his sights set on LFC.
This deal + Sturridge = good signs that FSG are learning how to find value in the transfer maerket, especially when you compare it to Utd paying 17 for Zaha.

26 Jan 2013 19:39:14
I hope i'm wrong, but i'm not convinced by couthino, we've already got suso is he really any better ? Like I say I hope i'm wrong and he sets the perm alight and he'll have my full support if he signs

Redgaz

I've gt a really bad feeling he's gna be suarezs replacement... They probably bort him so he gna adapt till summer

"I've gt a bad feeling"! Guaranga when we don't sign a player people moan we're now a little club that can't compete and when we do buy it turns out we're only buying so we can sell our star forward. I'll bet if you won the lottery you'd moan that you had to share the top prize with another guy.

New no.17 looks good !

I was slating our trasfer policies last few days, but I am happy now and congratulate The managent pn makong a good deal. Hope he does not get 10 the last three players who got number 10 are cole, jova and vronin. Nuri Sahin got same number of Aqua and we have seen what happened ;)

Would like to say aquilani was a great player, one of our worst decisions was playing adam ahead of him under KK, if you ever watch any matcches he played in the serie a he was great, orif you watched Liverpools pre seasons

Man utd spending 15 million on Zaha who has not really did much in championship. Tom Ince has more goals this season than Zaha's whole career and cost twice as less.

Man Utd paid over the odds, worth 8,000,000 at most. Palace laughing all the way to the bank.

Twice as less or half as much? think zaha price tag went up because of england cap and he only got that so he would pick england over ivory coast but agree with you ince better and cheaper

Don't get too hung up on stats, look where that landed us last season. Whiskey breaths no mug, Zaha's strong and got pace. A bit of ine tuning and he will become a great player.

Ozone

Don't underestimate Zaha just because he's gone to the mancs.
I think Ince will be a more effective player in the PL in terms of winning games, but Zaha is no slouch- he has a lot of strength and talent- his main issue seems to be that his end product is pretty inconsistent though?
Maybe Fergie thinks he can develop him to be more consistent, but its a expensive gamble to take.

Thing that gets me about whiskey nose is that 2 weeks ago he was`spouting off that Sturridge was a big gamble for us at 12m, even though he has international and prem experience, yet zaha is apparantly a good buy coz he played well at palace!

What's the point in criticising when we originally let him leave for peanuts?

United paid slightly over the odds for a young portugese kid a few years back and look what happened then!...he was developed into a 80 million player

People keep saying this Zaha kid is strong, but he weights in at 5'11" 66kg. Does he has spider strength or something?

Sterling is 3kg heavier, Coutinho is 6kg heavier and both are 3" shorter at 5'8".

Yeah and United bought RVP for 22m and missed out on Andy Carrol for 35m!

Gav

Twice as less??

As far as i'm aware, clubs don't buy young players on what they've done already. More what they see them being able to do in the future.

27 Jan 2013 12:21:32
@Gav - there's a dead horse in the corner that you continue giving a good kicking too while you're comparing those apples and oranges.

SpudRed

Yep. SAF got it wrong as allways.

I watch ince a wee bit this year living on the gold coast an all (haha) he is not the player that everyone thinks he is bit of pace good skill an eye for goal all at championship level and he's not the best bpool have got - believes in his own hype a tad too much also so hope you don't expect too much as for 8mill better players available-abroad.

26 Jan 2013 18:00:50
Paul Ince was on Football Focus early on and he said that he doesn't think his son should join us because he won't get any game time, he said Tom is enjoying his football at Blackpool and getting game time.

Luckily, Tom Ince is his own man and he's grown past the age where he does what his daddy tells him.

let the lad make his own decisions paul, AFTER ALL YOU DID !

Tel 1949

Tom would get games. he would replace downing. I can't see him staying if we get a half decent price
he's been better, yes, but not exactly what we need
and does he really need to talk to the media ALL the time. do your talking on the pitch red men

I must have watched a different version of the program, he said it was not only Liverpool who had made bids for him, plus he did not say he would not be joining us because he would not play enough games.He did suggest that his son stayed at blackpool to get more experience, I would say that if he does not join this month he will in the summer.

Downing is better than Ince.

26 Jan 2013 17:47:44
Hi ed002
In your opinion what are the chances of us getting a work permit for coutinho?
Thanks
Campbell {Ed002's Note - I would think it will be fine but is not always - Slobodan Rajkovic was refused a WP for four years eventually being sold.}

Didnt seb leto also get refused work permit so we had to sell him if memory serves me well.

Leto didn't get a WP. Very good player and he is curently a free player. PAO let him go after a injury. Great player.

26 Jan 2013 17:28:16
Will coutinho be cup tied in uefa cup?? {Ed002's Note - If he has played for Inter in Europe already.}

Coutinho played in group stages vs rubin kazan

26 Jan 2013 17:12:37
Are the stories running on tv with regards fee agreed true? 8.5m, if so why is there nothing on LFC website to confirm these stories? HAve we agreed the fee eds?thanks

Simon {Ed002's Note - I rather suspect that the listed fee is incorrect and that Liverpool matched Southamptons offer of 13M and then that has been accepted. This would be a little over £11M.}

Whats your opinion ed, have we paid to much, not my money so I don't mind i'm just happy to see him come to Liverpool {Ed002's Note - I don't want to get in to that, sorry.}

26 Jan 2013 16:54:02
How long and complicated is it for Coutinho to get his work permit? {Ed002's Note - A few days. Liverpool has to make a case for an exception as he does not meet the criteria for a work permit.}

Do you know how long he has till he is back from injury also Ed {Ed002's Note - The injury is trivial.}

Can you see the permit being a problem or should it go through pretty easy Ed? {Ed002's Note - It will not be easy as he does not qualify automatically.}

Do you think such an appeal would be approved? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - I would think it will be fine but is not always - Slobodan Rajkovic was refused a WP for four years eventually being sold.}

Oh okey cheers, fingers crossed it all works out :) Scouserseb

If the player signed for a certain club down the East Lancs then they would apply on the grounds of him being an 'exceptional talent' and the permit would be granted no questions ...If the player does sign, whilst we will certainly apply on the same basis I bet it won't be plain sailing.

If Coutinho is denied a work permit it is a travesty. The guy is obviously an exceptional young talent. United got away with getting those two Serbs in who cost scandalous money and did nothing. We had permit issues with Sebastian Leto, and had to send him out. IMO this was a big part of "Rafa's rant", the work permit issue with Leto vs. the two Serb kids. If this permit is not put through keep that in mind, how the Mancs get preferential treatment.

Perhaps the interest from other clubs will prove to be helpful in this instance. If he's seen as an exceptional talent, he'll be fine. The fact other clubs see that, may help us.

26 Jan 2013 16:31:00
This just appeared on the tv live FA cup commentary 15mins ago

BREAKING TRANSFER NEWS
Liverpool have agreed an £8.5m deal for Inter Milan's Brazilian midfielder, Philipe Coutinho. The 20-year-old is expected to travel to Merseyside early next week for a medical and Liverpool will need to apply for a work permit before the deal can be completed.

SheetMedia

26 Jan 2013 16:55:28
Did it really?? Which channel was that??

So its not nailed on as he needs a work permit, Eds does he qualify? {Ed002's Note - Not automatically - Liverpool need to make a case for an exception to be granted.}

BBC reporting the same. Looks like it's happened.

Redjinal

Its great news, now it would be great if we got ince as well would be a great jan window if we did.
Eam

I think he would count as an exceptional talent .

Our front line of Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho is quite brilliant and having Sterling, Borini, Suso and Downing in reserve is a great option.

It was the tv I got the source from, both online and via final score on the tv, the online text came first bout 4:15 then the pundits confirmed it after the final whistles had gone.

Hey eds, With coutinho edging closer do you still think we will go for ince?

Just reading into your comments and seeing that Sanchez is lurking up and down a couple of times. As you have stated he is almost certain to leave barca in the summer. In my opinion he is a quality player and lightning fast which is a brilliant asset to have and especially in the epl, plus quite a clinical striker. What would you say the chances are of us picking him up then? I know the summer if a long way away. But I'm curious what is likely with us getting hold of him, and would Lfc be willing to pay the amount for him, as he won't come cheap. Would say it rely's on if Suarez leaves or not?
Scottylfc {Ed002's Note - Much will depend on Juventus attracting one of their three targets and what happens with Suarez.}

Ed,
I reckon Juve will sign Jovetic.
What do you expect to happen with Sanchez then ?
I reckon Mancity will get him, I heard they were closing on him before Barca got him. {Ed002's Note - I really don't want to speculate - I explained that there are dependencies and the sumemr is some way off still.}

Doesn't mean much as footballers change their minds all the time but his camp came out not so long ago stating that Suarez wants to stay for at least the next two seasons to repay the fans for all the support he has been given. Also that he believes in the current goals ands wants to fight to get us into the champions league.

Hi eds any truth in the Shane long rumours? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any.}

26 Jan 2013 15:36:59

Hearing here in Middlesbrough from a friend who plays for boro academy that Liverpool have put in a offer of 2m fr George friend is this true Eds ? {Ed002's Note - I don't know but a journalist got a shrug from Stevie Clarke when he was asked about West Brom's interest in friend a few days ago.}

With Friend's former manager at Exeter, Alex Inglethorpe, now at Liverpool, there's certainly a link. But I think it's someone putting two and two together and coming up with five, if I'm honest.

26 Jan 2013 17:24:57
He's pretty too, maybe it's a ploy by FSG to increase our female / gay following! Haha!

He got married last summer, so lots of disappointed girls (and boys!)

26 Jan 2013 15:24:56
I hear Coutinho will be in the no.10 shirt, despite what Sky Italia are saying. Also Ince deal nearly there, with him loaned back to Blackpool until the Summer.

26 Jan 2013 15:19:58
hye eds..
what happened to alexis sanchez at barca?is there any interest in him from Liverpool or any other clubs?
thanks eds.. {Ed002's Note - Sanchez will almost certainly leave Barcelona in the summer. He is one of the three forwards Juventus are considering for the second striker role - so much will depend on who they get.}

Ed.. I think juventus are dreaming if they think they can get suarez.. BM is a different story though.. If they have the money then I'd say he could end up there {Ed002's Note - Bayern Munich has a very significant budget already assigned for the summer.}

26 Jan 2013 15:15:49
Hello eds,
Do you think Coutinho is going to sign? seems likely now to me. Also, anything on Draxler? heard that we may look at him instead of Ince? probably nothing. Thanks
YNWA {Ed002's Note - I would not expect Draxler to be moving to Liverpool this month.}

26 Jan 2013 15:15:46
Hi eds,
According to Graham Beacroft of the deal for Coutinho has been done. He will sign.

Cheers
Mr T

Oh dear, I was looking forward to getting Coutinho but if he says its happening there's every chance that it won't

26 Jan 2013 15:08:27
Eds, reports suggest insua is about to sign for Athletico. Can you confirm Liverpool have a 33% sell on clause. Also, is Dani Pacheco in talks with an unnamed championship side? Finally with Wilsons contract out in the summer would we be due compensation if he signs for a British or is it just an English side {Ed002's Note - (1) There is indeed a sell on clause. (2) I don't know. (3) Wilson's youth career was at Rangers so I would doubt it.}

26 Jan 2013 14:41:28
Liverpool have made an offer for Goalkeeper Jack Butland, if successful he will be loaned back to the Championship side for the rest of the season.

If we buy can we loan him back for 20 years? He is terrible

26 Jan 2013 14:37:06
Hy Ed.
You guys done a fantastic job. Keep it up.
I hav 2 questions for u.
1. Do you expect any more signing after coutinio and ince. If yes then who it will be.
2. Do you expect any marquee signing will be made any epl club in this window.
Thanx.
Plz do reply. {Ed002's Note - (1) If a player leaves then I think there is a good chance. (2) You would have to give me a list of "marquee! players in order to say.}

Messi

Woooney
RVP

Out of 10?

Nobody has signed a deal in a tent yet this window as far as I'm aware. Hope that helps clear that up Eds.

26 Jan 2013 14:24:33
Ed has a bid actually been accepted for coutinho {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that Liverpool has made an offer but Inter are waiting on Southampton to increase their bid. If they don't then I think the offer will likely be accepted.}

26 Jan 2013 13:31:28
Can you confirm that a fee has been agreed for Coutinho ed002 mate? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - I do not believe agreement has yet been reached but I expect that over the weekend the matter will be resolved.}

Cheers mate! So Southampton are out of the running? Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - No, they have the opportunity to reconsider their offer.}

Ok, with reports about Coutinho not wanting a move to them, who do you think is most likely to land him? Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - I would think Liverpool is best placed right now.}

Cheers mate, your opinion is always appreciated! Scouserseb

26 Jan 2013 13:46:21
Hearing that Pepe Reina will be used as a makeweight for Alexis Sanchez next window.

If we get a decent keeper replacement, that could be a great deal.

Sanchez in net for Liverpool next season

I wouldn't complain if this was true.

SB96

Shame barça aren' after him. Source- ed2.

I'm more concern about who will between the post then.

Eds, I may have this wrong, but Liverpool have NOT lost a game with Brad Jones in goal? I don't recall any losses anyway but my memory isn't the greatest tool lol

I would happily take this swap any day and give Jones all the experience he needs

Dont forget, DONI HAS BEEN FOUND ALIVE!! so we have backup xD

Phil-Diablo

Stoke keeper could be bought, he looks very good, would be a good deal. If a Spaniard is wanted by Barca, it'll be impossible to keep him, best having a plan in place. I'm guessing this will be in the summer!!

Jones useless. Reina is leaving. We need a keeper!!!

26 Jan 2013 12:55:10
Hi eds,

If we got Coutinho and Ince, which is likely right now, would we still be in the market for two other loans? Or does our business finish here?

knightza AU {Ed002's Note - I would not expect two loans but if anyone were to leave I suspect another player would arrive.}

26 Jan 2013 12:37:51
Liverpool to sign both Butland and Redmond or joint fee of £2.5m and loan them back to Birmingham for rest of season paying both there wages (the reason for low fee) due to blues financial problems

Absolute balderdash, still too low a fee

They would get more selling to another championship club than 2.5 no matter how much they need the money they wouldn't go that low
giblet

26 Jan 2013 12:47:05
Very impressed if we get Ince and Coutinho, now that we have so much depth going forward hopefully in Summer I hope we can focus on suring up our defence signing a young CB, who has the potential but also ability to challenge for a starting spot. Maybe possible a LB. Finally playing hardball has payed off! HullRED

As a fan I couldn't care less who we sign as long as they contribute to us playing well and winning games and give everything for the shirt
Davross

What about coates and robinson?

26 Jan 2013 15:30:39
What about Martin Kelly.

Why would Liverpool want a LB we have cover there, think we better start looking for a new keeper

26 Jan 2013 12:32:26

What has Terry Venables to do with Liverpool?

26 Jan 2013 10:56:28
Hi eds, just wondering if there is any interest in Ashley Williams? Am hearing a lot of people saying we're in for him. {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach to Swansea for him but perhaps if either Agger or Skrtel are sold there would be interest.}

I hope we don't sign him, I've seen him play many times for Wales and thought he's really poor at a higher level, yes he's ok for swansea

Hey i'm out here in milan on holidays and its inter milan fans out side the stadium shouting throwing things with courtinho and I noticed that one fan ad a Liverpool top with courtinho on it and they burnt it..
So I should expect that the news should be over in britain within 2 or 3days he will sign and its reported that he loves Liverpool whoch he have since a kid and he willing to spend his career at there which he will sign his first contract will last up to 6 and half years..
And world football news out here saying that paul inces boy tom ince is on his way on monday to have a medical at Liverpool and maybe mirin coming in also but lfc are finding to argee terms with his club hard so they may hold out till the summer..
Ynwa

Well of course he's a Liverpool fan aren't they all when they sign. I hope they let the fella take the top off before they burnt it, then again I suppose absolute bollox can't rely hurt you... Carry on!

Lmao aw please !

26 Jan 2013 10:28:47
Ha ha ha. Yeh because coutinho's that good that they don't want to lose him. He's been a bench warmer for most of the season so why would they care. I still can't believe what peoe write on here. Ed's why do people come on here and pretend that they have reliable sources inside the club etc? Very frustrating to read.

Lol, in the age of the internet and social media it's going to take 2-3 days for news to travel from Italy to Britain. I could drive the news here faster :)

Gav

Hah hah hah. This must be true because "Courtinho" is a living Inter legend.

Keep 'em coming mate

Apparently Coutinho moving to Liverpool is seen as worse than if Gerrard moved to utd. He has now gone into hiding and won't be allowed out of the witness protection programme until the end of the window. It's ok though as Owen is with him preparing him for life as a judas.

Surely it'd be better for them to go for a player that played in the same positions if they were to miss out?

Ince deal will be done but he will stay with Blackpool until the summer

So we'll pay for him but not get the use of him? Who pays his wages while he remains as a player at Blackpool? Makes no sense to me! If we're to pay say 6 to 8 million for a player we need to have him in our squad now.

The Plank

To The Plank this doesn't sound in reasonable and could get us a better deal on Ince also if your not aware of what happened yesterday, did United not buy Zaha and immediately loan him back to Palace!

So we pay to sign him now and let him stay at Blackpool till the end of the season when he is out of contract and will more than likely be cheaper as we were the team that trained him as youth player in compensation?? Does that sound good business sense can't see that happening myself
