I've heard that Liverpool enquired about Scott Parker again and were shot down. We are also looking at the posibility of bringing Xavi Martinez from Athletic Bilbao to Anfield in the summer instead of the overpriced Charlie Adam.

Honda will not be going to AM, they are financially unable to bring anyone in at this current time!

When it became known that Arda would probably not be available until the summer, Atletico turned their attention to Keisuke Honda. Lucas has been left out and states due to injury but he is having a medical with Florentina tomorrow prior to a 5.5million move.
No moves in as the owners are trying to hold on to money until the summer and using they won't be bullied into paying high fees as a smoke screen to fans to pretend they willing to buy players when there are trying to balance the books.

Ajax have set a deadline of Saturday, just so that they can get in a replacement if needed. All this talk of deal off, he is going for this much or not for that much is all spouting from the mouth of the press and of fans. Sit back relax enjoy the game and let the people at the club who ARE in the know do what they are paid and employed to do. Firstly if as reported that liverool have pulled out of deals for Suarez and Adam, i for one applaud their decision the owners are clearly calling the other clubs bluff. . On another point i heard that they have a plan B this includes Arda Turan, Honda and possiby Benzema on loan contact already been made. .I'm not pretending this will happen just what i heard from good source . . soon find out i guess

Yes I agree with what you are saying, but new player are required, what is so annoying is why has it take until the last week for them to put in an offer, negotiations and a prelim offer should have gone in early in the transfer window. Then if thing went flat we could have moved on especially with the Adams purchase. With Suarez are they thinking Ajax needs money so eventually they will sell at a lower price, if so it seems to be to me a bit of a gamble especially in the position we are now. Your thoughts ed?

I figured Lille would be willing to trade the player and bring someone in now rather than lose both Gervinho and Hazard in the summer (which they will most likely do), and need a major rebuilding job. Now it looks like Gervinho will be a summer target for the club. A move now would have overcome all of these Suarez issues, but it seems that Lille are not prepared to sell him.}

As for Benzema, I personally don't think too much of the player - but I do think he might prove to be a good fit with Torres. He may well be available and so I would not be surprised to see a move for the player.}

Ed, regarding a previous comment you made about us having reps talking with Honda's agent as we speak. If we were serious about signing him shouldn't the talks have taken place before the asia cup?
The way I see it, last minute deals can go either way. Yes we could save a little bit of money, but leaving everything till the death also allows rival bidders to enter the race to sign the player, causing a bidding war (which no doubt we'll lose).
Before this transfer window opened I was one of the posters trying to remain sensible regarding the stature/ type of player we would be looking to buy, but as the window has gone on I've, got caught up with all the hype and stories on here and in the media, and at the moment am feeling more than a little deflated.
So stop messing about about Ed, get on the phone to KK and DC and tell em to sort it out!

Athletic just turned down Chelski bid for Kun at $39m. I think OUR chances of getting him ever are very slim.
ED would i be right in thinking this bid was turned down by aguero himself and not the club. if a bid comes in that matches his release clause then the bid is automaticaly accepted and its up to the player if he wants to move? not sure if i am right or wrong, can someone help?

I'm sick of hearing some of these stupid rumours like Aguero to Liverpool, and Benzema. Get real people why would the likes of aguero and benzema play at Liverpool when there are clubs who are willing to offer a better wage (Chelsea, Man United) and offer champions league football. What do Liverpool have to offer? Europa and a lower wage. Honestly, we won't be making massive signings like that for a while.

I agree with you that Kenny's position currently looks strong.
He's got the team playing better, playing in a formation that suits them (not rigid 4-4-2) and morale seems to be improving
Obviously there's plenty of time for things to take a wrong turn, but aside from a major injury crisis that outcome seems less likely now than at any time previous this season.
So I hope you're right, but wouldn't put it past NESV to be bl00dy-minded enough to make a change if he doesn't match their potentially narrow vision
Comolli however has yet to impress, and perhaps we won't see the best of whatever it is he has to offer until the summer.
Prior to the window all we heard was how the economic situation was probably going to throw up a whole lot of "distressed buying opportunties".
Only it doesn't seem to have, with - if we decide to believe the press reports, so pinch of salt at the ready - both Ajax and Blackpool taking a fairly aggressive negotiating stance.
As said before, I think there's less to these deals than meets the eye, and Oyston is clearly full of cr@p ("I hate people who negotiate through the press. He's yours for £12m")
This time next week we may all be lauding Comolli's brinkmanship, but I'm not holding my breath.
But what I really don't like is the way that both bids have been so public.
I know that sometimes its a necessity (and I like a bit of gossip as much as anyone on this site) but to me its never been the LFC way, and these much publicised deals often fail to match the hype.

Hello Ed great job you are doing. I want to ask a question, many people here are going on and on about how we need a strike partner for torres and he'll be pissed if we couldn't get one. Now correct me if I'm wrong but when has torres played well for spain when he is playing right alongside villa, who is world class himself. Torres is at his best when someone plays in the hole taking defenders off him and then provide link up play, what gerrard did in 08-09 season. We have loads of players who can play there gerrard, cole, pacheco, kuyt, meireles and if he is given the chance suso as well. What we need is width, desperately, as we can see that even a winger like riera can make a difference. And on a side note i am beginning to think comolli is a tool, plz post your thoughts ed. .

Liverpool can't find the 25m to spend on Suarez, how can they find the 45m+ to spend on Aguero after a 52m bid was rejected for him and Godin. He can be a life long fan of Liverpool but until Liverpool either sell Torres or sell the rest of their squad together, 45m is out of their reach and that's a huge if on the price being only 45m, it could be higher.

We currently have a squad with over 700 top flight goals between them (source, vague adding up on wikipedia). Perhaps new signings are not nearly as important as getting us working as a team, we're already playing better football and moving in the right direction. We should not be held to ransom and pay over the odds, we are not desperate (even if everyone on this forum seems to be).

Macca has got alot of stuff right and does not post bs rumors. I think he was 3-4day early on the dalglish thing said he would be in before united, and he posts reasonable stuff not messi signing for us tomorrow and ronaldo on Friday. He has most likely got other things right but i just don't remember but the Dalglish thing he said first and his was not a dumb rumor or a joke post.

Just a few questions EDITORS. . . If we have sold Babel for just over half what we paid for him(wasn't really given a good run or used, nurtured correctly.) and the possible sale of Jovanovic(if what got something back would be a bonus, as he came on a free.) then surely we must be in the market for players (replacements?) Both can play on the wing and up front. Its kinda weakening our squad! Which isn't the best as it is. . . NESV have stated when they took over that WE didn't need to sell, and that they had money to improve the squad, but not a bottomless pit. Yet we are selling players? The wrong ones in some cases, when we have the likes of Poulsen and Konchesky on our books. No disrespect to them, but they ain't Liverpool quality. I understand the three club rule, but does that include loans?? I understand that Babel and Jovanovic may not be Liverpool quality, but weakening the squad where it needs strengthening doesn't make sense, unless we are bringing in better replacements?? I've bigged up Arda Turan since the Euro's in 2008. . And after hearing Dalglish is a fan i trust my judgement. Small, stocky, skillfull, 23years old, robust enough to play in the Prem. The Turkish league is tough like ours, not the same quality but he rides the tackles. Suarez is similar(obviously a forward tho) seem Tevez like. I don't see the pair struggling to settle in, just like Torres did. Left back is a must. There ain't that many quality left backs around. Hence Johnson currently filling the spot. I agree with most that Johnson would be good deployed as a right winger with Kelly at right back. . . If the Adam deal goes through, can you see him deplacing Gerrard, Lucas or Meireles, even Cole? Cole needs time, he'll come good. As i've told people of Meireles just need to settle in. Adam may have had a good 6months in the Prem with a team over acheiving, but would he be consistant? (we all know how fans turn on players) I for one backed Lucas and Insua (aswell as Kelly, N'Gog and Pacheco). All have been thrown in at the deep end. Too soon due to the lack of squad members, BUT the likes of Lucas, Kelly and N'Gog are improving ain't the finished articles but age is on their side. . . The majority of names linked with us i presume is just paper talk. . and after the Meireles deal i'll wait till its done and dusted(player, shirt, manager photo). . . . . Overall, a quality striker, two out and out wingers and a left back are a must. . . . Even if just loan deals to prove they have what it takes. . . Its better than nothing. . Arsenal are preparing a £7mil bid for David N'gog. Liverpool will probably accept it and add it to the Babel money to push through moves for Charlie Adam and Stephen Warnock. A striker will be signed, whether it is Suarez remains to be seen. There is still definate interest in Ashley Young but like most of these reported transfers Liverpool are way short of any of the clubs valuations. I'm all for hard negotiating to get the best deal, but to offer £13 million pound for a world class striker like Suarez who has over two years left on his contract is taking the serious mickey! Just offer £20mil and be done with it! Liverpool will end up with no-one this window unless they start putting their hands in their pockets!

There's nothing in these rumours. It comes from people reading too much into Fergie's post match comments tonight. He said that ManUre couldn't handle Charlie Adam, and that his set pieces were worth £10M alone. Why would Fergie talk up the value of one of his transfer targets? He is just mischief making, sticking his big red nose into the transfer dealings of rival clubs.

The main problem with all these 6m + a player/ loan for Charlie Adam is that Blackpool flat out refuse to pay more than £10,000 for a players wage including any bonuses. Blackpool are also not big fans on giving anything more than f* k all to agents.
This serious restricts the players that can be offloaded in this transfer (no-one likes a pay cut), unless Liverpool are willing to subsidise the deal (as Leeds did with God, paying him for the rest of his Leeds contract just to get him off the books).
The reason why teams loan out players is not just for first team exp, it's to lower wage bill. Blackpool aren't gonna do that.

In response to an earlier question; no, the scum do not want to sign Charlie Adam. Mr. Alex is doing what he does best; manipulating the media to work in his favour. There is nothing he would love more than to wake up on the 1st of Feb to find that we haven't signed Charlie Adam.
He honestly wants to make sure that we either a) pay more that we are willing to, or b.) fail to sign the player at all. What he is doing is cunning and very unsportsmanlike. Can you imagine if any other manager did the same thing to a player THEY were pursuing? Mr. Alex would probably insult them publicly, and no one would bat an eyelid.
We will surely get one over the scum if, sorry WHEN, we sign Charlie Adam.
Oh, and Andy Gray is an imbecile. .I hope to never see/ hear him EVER again.

Clubs always have someone approach the players reps and sound them out about a move before speaking to the club. The last I heard was that Adam was going to force his way out to join us, but that was when the only interest was us, Brum and Villa. If United have joined the chase, that could shake things up a lot.}

I've have it from a good source that Luis Suarez will hand in a formal transfer request to Ajax tomorrow. Apparently he is willing to accept any offer Liverpool throw at him that is within reason (personal terms wise) and wait for Comolli and Ajax to sort out the fee.
Expect this to be all over internet sites and the newspapers tomorrow.

I'm sick of hearing some of these stupid rumours like Aguero to Liverpool, and Benzema. Get real people why would the likes of aguero and benzema play at Liverpool when there are clubs who are willing to offer a better wage (Chelsea, Man United) and offer champions league football. I have it from a pretty reliable source that Liverpool will 100% get a striker (may not be saurez) possibly hear from the club around lunchtime b4 the fulham match. Also the adam deal shud also go through this wk. Im been told that Ngog may also leave the club before the window closes.
