regards Jorginho - is that a rumour that has been verified?

Regards any type of player coming in to play that role in midfield. ACE! and honestly, I don't think it would matter who that player is. Anyone who is a little bit more tactically aware and can pass a decent ball will do wonders for the balance of our midfield allowing Hendo, Keita, gini etc to be the legs in the midfield. so whoever that player is, get him in! heck, bring lucas back to play that role!

Faithinworks, we are looking to move forward with our progression towards trophies, bringing Lucas back in a starting role will hinder that. I trust whoever Klopp picks for midfield will be a great choice, his track record for signings is pretty impressive, he seems to know the exact type of player that suits his system!

Hi Ed in your opinion who do you think we are really interested in filling the midfield. There have been links with Rodriquez, Jorginho, Zielinski, lemar, pulisic, Cellabos etc. I imagine most are rubbish and agent led but with your insight. who do you think are the real no.1 targets and most realistic of joining, as celleaos seems keen.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained there is interest in Ceballos.}

26 Feb 2018 18:10:23
For me I think we have genuine interest in

Lemar ( but could be deemed too expensive ) .

Pulisic ( again could be deemed too pricey )

Ceballos. I think this is a good chance of happening.

Brandt. ( interest remains but same issues as summer ) .

Jorginho. I’d say he’s number one target but he mY not be interested.

26 Feb 2018 20:02:55
We are definitely interested in Lemar and I think that will happen in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - "if theres any justice in the world" it will cobra.. :)

26 Feb 2018 20:31:41
Certainly feel we have a better than 50/ 50 chance of him signing.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Feb 2018 22:34:37
So that would be Lemar. Cellabos and Allison as our (Ideal) targeted summer business. Then rodriquez zielinski butland jordinho is media guff.

27 Feb 2018 07:07:52
Jorginho links come from Paul Joyce who is pretty reliable concerning Liverpool stuff so I wouldn't really call it media guff.

He also said we were going to sign mahrez.

27 Feb 2018 12:26:08
I'd argue any of napolis midfield would improve ours, they play a similar style but have more technical ability and typically move the ball quicker! I'd happily take Jorginho, Allan or Zielinksi!

Eds long time lurker first time poster. Thanks for all the insight you provide.

I maybe over thinking this but I see the premier league homegrown rule having an influence on our summer transfer dealings or we need to accept a smaller squad of senior players.

Some of the homegrown players are on the periphery and not getting game time
Sturridge
Flanagan
Ward
Clyne
So if they leave I assume we just won't replace. Ward may be the exception unless one of the young keepers could be third choice.
But if Milner or Lallana leave it may not be as simple as getting a non-homegrown replacement.

Are we looking at any homegrown qualified players currently?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - welcome GR. the club is constrained to having 17 non home grown players over 21 and the club won’t be looking to replace players who are not in the first team plans - so Flanagan will not be replaced. Clyne is apparently clear of injury but far from match fit, if he were to leave he might need replacing but the club may feel they have sufficient cover. One would expect a youngster to perhaps replace Sturridge but givens DS and DI don’t get much time perhaps they will get more of a look in. If Ward moves common sense would be to replace him with an older experienced player - HG would be a onus. But in general clubs will keep an eye on HG players - but I rather doubt the key additions this summer will be HG.

26 Feb 2018 15:31:01
Thanks Ed I missed Danny Ings. I would be happy with quality over quantity and could not think of any HG players except perhaps Butland that would be available and improve the squad.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I don’t think Butland is at the top of the list, but we will see.}

26 Feb 2018 16:12:34
I think we will still be well stocked on the HG front -

Woodburn
TAA
Gomez
Ojo
Hendo
Milner (Possible)
Robertson (Does he count pre and post brexit? )
Lallana
OX
Solanke
Wilson (Prob be sold)

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Robertson is not HG.}

26 Feb 2018 23:29:34
Why not ed, not questioning you just interested?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Because he did not spend three years playing in England between 16 and 21.}

27 Feb 2018 08:44:36
Karius is homegrown, I think.

Hi eds is it true that we're in negotiations to give Firmino a new contract?

Believable8 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no idea. The lad wants to stay so there is no worry or rush either way. It is just a matter of agreeing terms.}

26 Feb 2018 13:01:04
Good to hear mate thanks.

26 Feb 2018 13:10:38
Awesome news that he wants to stay, more of that please!

26 Feb 2018 13:22:07
with the amount of goals he's assisting and scoring im sure he's ecstatic with his current contract.

Phew ed! u gave me the best news this year! I would b cool wid swapping 2 with fourth if it means Bobby staying. but now while we r at it y not give it a whole try? by the way ed01 what do u xpect from match btn us and utd?

Agree5 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - Bobby loves it at Liverpool and told Couts he was mad to want to leave. As for the games, I don't do predictions, they are bad luck.}

26 Feb 2018 16:12:53
Lifetime deal ala Iniesta.

26 Feb 2018 21:12:35
You have to love Bobby Firmino. Was excited when we signed him and he just keeps getting better. I reckon he’ll get 20 league goals this year.

26 Feb 2018 21:26:43
I had Bobby on 20 goals for all competitions. Needless to say very happy for the feller and long may it continue.

"no rush" is toxic for liverpool negotiations.

26 Feb 2018 09:59:21
Hi Ed’s, I wondered a while back before his move to zenit we showed interest in Emanuel Mammana he looks a perfect fit for a Klopp team he’s quick good with ball at his feet and a can pass like a beast, watching him play I could easily see him in defence or midfield, question is are we still looking at him? I’ve also heard that Milner is keen to go back to Leeds should they by some miracle get promoted.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - interest went from the English sides when he moved last summer. There is no interest andheisnot for sale at this time,}

26 Feb 2018 16:14:23
He has played 14 league games and 7 European games to date.

26 Feb 2018 09:13:21
Is there any interest in Lewis Cook or is it just a silly rumour?

Believable1 Unbelievable8

26 Feb 2018 16:18:52
Seen the rumour could be a good addition has potential and is English don't see the harm for the 20 million rumoured.

A question for Ed001 if I may,

do you know what's the plan for Milner this coming summer? Is he expected to move on or is it still too early to say?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he would like to go somewhere he can play regularly though Klopp would like to keep him.}

26 Feb 2018 07:15:18
Thanks for the reply Ed, much appreciated.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate, be interesting to see what happens with him in the summer as he really does not want to be a utility back up any more.}

26 Feb 2018 07:22:03
I have a feeling he will be able to move on with Klopp's blessing in the summer with Ox replacing him as the utility back up. Just to have a rough idea, which teams are interested in Milner Ed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know off the top of my head. Well I know Moyes would take him in a heartbeat, but, other than that, not sure.}

26 Feb 2018 07:58:04
I do hope he stays. Having started the last 2 games and played brilliantly, including building a fantastic combo with Robbo and Mané on our left side, I'd consider him first choice for that midfield slot. A good run of games including plenty of starts will hopefully see him continue this great form and choose to continue at the highest level for one more season at least, instead of dropping down to mid-table or a relegation battle.

Agree7 Disagree2

26 Feb 2018 08:44:28
I fully assumed the idea of buying Ox was to replace Milner. I don't like a lot about what Milner brings but you cannot help but respect his attitude and his love of the game - a lot of players could have had much better careers than they ever got by following his examples and moving to where the games across his career.

Agree8 Disagree0

26 Feb 2018 09:42:28
Milner deserves lots of praise at the moment. We had just lost back to back games and Milner was recalled for the game agains't Huddesfield. Over the 5 games since the defeats he has been just about our best player. He has covered Robertson, he has created chances, tracked runners and given 100%.

5 games though is not a season, he simply isn't good enough to play in midfield for Liverpool over a season. He is on a massive wage and should be sold in the summer, he will have many takers. I do not look forward to Milner playing in midfield agains't the better teams, the best players make him look like a statue.

Agree5 Disagree1

26 Feb 2018 09:56:53
Milner has played 32 this season albeit some as a sub but i can't see him playing much more at another club and certainly not a top club. If i was him i would be more than happy to stay in the hope he might pick up a medal or two before he retires. I think there is space for an experienced old pro or two at the club.

Agree7 Disagree0

26 Feb 2018 10:31:39
Agree with Irish Rover above, but perhaps Milner will have an eye on who comes and goes in Summer.
Keita goes straight into the first team, Hendo, and then it's A. N. Other for the third place.
Milner could be looking at considerably less game time next season?

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Feb 2018 15:05:24
Doesn't matter if the ox was bought to replace milner if that was indeed the case.

If Milner playing well (which he is) then no reason to let him go in my opinion. He is a leader, winner and experienced role model which is most definitely good to have in and around the team.

Compliments the youth in the squad nicely.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Feb 2018 16:03:35
Be a shame as Milly has been class of late and is always a great professional would be a loss to the squad that one, I hope we retain him but can understand his desire to play.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Feb 2018 17:17:53
Would we let him leave for free or demand a fee, if we do let him leave for free my bet would be Leeds to finish his playing days at his boyhood club.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Feb 2018 17:19:34
I would think Allardyce, Moyes, Pardew, Pulis, Lambert etc will love him.
