Hi eds lots of posts about luke de yong ed you said you think the fee will be 12.65m thats an unusual figure as an estimated fee would i be wrong to think its maybe a done deal? Come on redmen steviep48 {Ed001's Note - you would be wrong, nothing is done yet.}

The fee is probably in which explains why £12.65M seems an odd, and not rounded figure.

Ed, do you regret ever mentioning the name Luuk De Jong? lol

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - I regret ever telling everyone how soft you skin is, and that girl called Alison. Nothing else.}

I do use Oil of Olay, Ed. I am a modern man with nothing to hide, but wants to. lol

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96
{Ed001's Note - is modern man another way of saying you are a big girl's blouse with a man bag?}

Have to move with the times Ed, i'm 64 this year and no spring chicken. The man bag is just for 'work' purposes and contains my anti-wrinkle cream.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - I hate man bags, they are the most hateful invention ever. Anyone who needs a bag to carry around stuff in, has too much stuff. I would suggest a mass cull of the man bag carriers as they obviously are herding far too much of the earth's precious resources to themselves. Most of it in those stupid bags!}

Hey Ed(s),

I heard that De Jong signed a 3 year contract, with the option of an additional year in the summer of '09. Did they take the option up and do you think he will be cheaper, with him having only 1 year left on his contract?

Cheers, MansfieldRED {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware his contract runs until 2014.}

Ed how much do you think the fee could be for de jong? estimate fee would be appreciated thanks.

Corkpoolred {Ed002's Note - My estimate remains the same as the other day - £12.65M.}

I like it ed.very specific price

danny

Very specific estimate Ed should be worth keeping an eye on this one.
Ed quick question has Macca retired cos I have not seen anything in a while?

Lurgan Red {Ed001's Note - no, he has just not posted for a while.}

Thanks Ed! Sorry, I didn't know question was asked already. You don't do estimates lol!

ed, do you think that there is interest from Liverpool in bringing Alexander Milosevic (AIK), as it is being stated that we are ahead of others in race. Thanks alot. {Ed001's Note - we are having him scouted at the moment, I don't know any more than that.}

I work in Sweden and have seen him play - he's got no pace in a slow league. Not good enough for the Reds in my opinion

Hello Eds. Wonderful site. Just wondering what was the story with Moussa Sisoko? Did LFC reject him or...? Is he still a viable option for january/summer? {Ed001's Note - we didn't reject him, just never actually made a bid for him. He is still very much on the radar for the future though.}

Ed, will we need to sell players before we buy in January?

Is there a defined, fixed budget or will be flexible?

Are there any big names lined up or are we most likely to pursue up and coming players such as Du Jong

Thanks

AK {Ed001's Note - the budget is always flexible, it has to be. We don't need to sell to buy, but there will be players going to make space for new ones, you can't just keep adding wages and players to a squad! There is no real intent to pursue big names in Jan as far as I am aware.}

How come Ed surely FSG understand we will need some fantastic signings if we wanna compete for the title

MJ {Ed002's Note - The owners have invested a lot of money in players already. They will be looking for a return on that investment and they sure as hell are not in a position to keep throwing endless amounts of money at a business which is losing money big time. The intention is that the investment already made will get Champions League football back at the end of this season and then they will no doubt feel more comfortable about perhaps investing further to build on that. Until then, unless there is a sudden influx of income from a player or players leaving, expect investment to be kept at a lower level. It is simply not viable to keep adding players - there is not the money available to support such an approach.}

ED could you see us bringing in a striker and a attacking mid/winger in jan, not just luuk de jong to cover both positions? I think we need more than just de jong in jan if fwe want top 4, need someone like ramirez/kagawa as well {Ed001's Note - it is possible, impossible to say right now as a lot depends on the players who are being targeted. If they are available for the right price, or someone else moves in for them, then January will be the time to get them. Injuries, loss of form etc could see the plans disrupted completely by January though.}

Hey ed so do you know what targets we have in mind for January or in general apart from De Jong ? {Ed002's Note - As I have said previously I suspect anyone arriving in January will primarily be the result of players leaving (and I don't know that any will), players being injured (let's hope not) and any deficiencies identified by the management team (e.g. Luuk De Young arriving to provide additional striking options.}

Ed do you think there is any chance we could go for pato in jan or summer? I know you said before that milan were willing to sell {Ed001's Note - no, I don't.}

ayy ed with this finishing problem where having is there any chance of us signing Seydou Doumbia of CSKA Moscow? {Ed002's Note - Unlikely. There has been an enquiry from Newcastle and it is likely if there is another team interested they will be from North London.}

Arsenal or tottenham ed {Ed002's Note - Could be either, but not Barnet. I suspect Spurs is the most likely (by some distance) but I have no confirmation of this.}

hi Ed, i am a devoted liverpool fan and although i agree that our midfield looks to need one more arrival in january to add dynamism to it, i think a centre-back should be of higher priority as, skrtel is not good enough, agger is injury prone and carragher is nearing retirement. which CB could you see us signing in january? regards mick {Ed002's Note - I am not so sure a centre back is a priority for January.}

Although he's hardly featured so far, I think Coates will be eased into the team between now and then.

Ed defense wins championships. With the current squad, poor run of clean sheets is testament that we r in a dire need of bolstering our back four. {Ed002's Note - So Kelly emerging and Coates being bought did not help. Flanagan emerging and Enrique being added did not help? What would you suggest in terms of outs and ins?}

You keep talking about De Jong Ed, are we in talks with his club to buy him, in January?

Thanks...

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - we have been looking closely at him and registered our interest with his club, the intention was to bring him in next summer. Recent events, ie his goal glut, has led to a change in plans, it seems likely, all being well, he will be a target for January before someone else beats us to the punch.}

So, ed are u suggesting that we are more likely to buy him in January even if no one leaves like maxi or kuyt. Thanks

Abhi {Ed001's Note - yes, right now it seems very likely. Though it is only October and we could have a rash of injuries or anything could change before Jan. I hope not though, I have invested a lot of time watching games with him playing ready for January!!}

So Ed what are his Pros and Cons, and does he have that something..?

Cheers

dmedly {Ed001's Note - he is big, quick and strong, he looks ideal for the English league to be honest, well at least he looks it compared to the other players. He does have something, you know when you watch some players and you just think he is too good for the team he is playing with and the opposition? He gives me that feeling, he just seems to be too good for the Eredivisie, and he already speaks English!}

English is one thing, Scouse is another :-)

dmedly {Ed001's Note - good point, I have to speak completely differently round here, they just stare at you blankly if you don't. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for a foreigner, who will have learnt proper English, to understand it. Luuk is a young lad though, he will soon be speaking like Molby, now that's a proper Scouse accent that is!}

Ed.
Do you think that Christian Eriksen is seen as a target for January/Summer window?
He is completely class! {Ed001's Note - we tried to get him last January, if there is a chance to get him I am sure we would take it, just unlikely to happen.}
