Don't know how much use this is but Aaron lennon was nailed on for a move to lfc in january for 18 mil the deal was agreed and everything only for spurs to turn around and say they want 22 mil and Liverpool said no as it was on the 30th just had it confirmed today is it still on for summer who knows

Why would we want Lennon for that sort of money? He only averages half the season for Spurs, speak to any Spurs fan and all they say is great player but nowhere near consistent enough. No chance.

Get Real

I like Lennon but he's not worth that much and this is bull.

25 May 2012 22:49:16
Thiago of barcelona, could we get him?

No he is literally the next best thing according to guardiola

I wish

25 May 2012 22:26:50
berbatov 10 mil.

heard it here first.

Geo

He's too old and FSG will be looking for younger players with potential.

They won't sell to us and we don't have a manager

Ha ha! .... Someone was bored!

To Liverpool? - No.

To another club than Liverpool? - Yes.

Cheerio

Yes, i hear alot of stupid things here first, mainly from idiots like you.
Tom

**** off, not happening, besides he'll hasn't frozen over!!

One small point we don't deal with Manchester United, do you not remember when Rafa tried to sign Heinze and Fergie did everything to stop it, the clubs don't deal with one and other plus he is too old and a poor player.

I think Berba is perfect for you

Pardoe

Hes on a free transfer

I am no conspirator, but with Suarez starting the evra issue talk again, you have to think he wants to leave. Assuming the report is accurate (Russian paper). I am sure what he said got cut and pasted out of context, but surely the owners have told him to never speak of it again. I really wish he would just let it die. Ofcourse, I wasn't the one accused of racism inappropriately. But I am also not making millions and have fans that were hoping for more.....he should really let it go, if he wants what's best for LFC. I bet Kenny never speaks on it again....

Canada Red

Clearly you have not read it , it a very honest and polite response that doesn't implicate anyone .

I think many people, due to the media, overestimate the amount anyone at LFC cares about this.....

Sounds to me he's just doing all he can to engineer a move!

Jman

Suarez feels strongly about it and was stitched up. Can you not see that?

You are talking garbage. Suarez is one of the best players in the world. He doesn't need to engineer a move by talking crap. The guy was convicted by a kangaroo court with no evidence at all. You do the math dummy.

Whats the big deal?

Man feels injustice and expresses frustration.

Fair play Luis.

Did you hear or see a transcript of the interview that Evra gave to bbcradio a few hours after Kenny got sacked? Who is opening it up again here?Why should Kenny comment on the matter again, he is not the one who got accused and he no longer works for Liverpool why should he mention it unless he is asked.Yeah he could have said no comment to the question he is being asked. I wouldn't if I was in his shoes.

ChinUp

Put it this way, if you were the defendant and there was absolutely no form of evidence against you to get you convicted. Wouldn't you want justice? Would you not fight at all? Think before you speak, it's common sense

What this guy ^ said.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I think the owners would prefer the whole issue would go away. Don't you all agree? As I said, I can see Suarez's point, but the issue is what will it achieve? We already know his side of things. Why would he try and orchestrate a move this way? Hmmm, perhaps because he can get a transfer that was mandated by the owners, and he gets what he wants without the fans hating him. Torres tried to do the same, in the aftermath. Far less effective tactic however.

Canada Red

Also, to the guy who called me dummy, I thought we were all fans of the same club? Is this not a banter site? I bet you were a bully in highschool. Are you still in highschool?

Get your facts right. evra the other week brought it back up, just to remind everyone hes queeky clean. and a poor victim of his own abuse.
dream on mate

The reason he didnt shake his hand is cos he felt he never did anything wrong...that's between him and evra...i suspect we'll never know the truth

I wouldnt trust evra as far as i can throw him by the way
just sayin'

Its a russian newspaper? It could of been said just after the ban, and been re-released! He his saying all that matters is the people of liverpool fc, and his country! He knows we stuck by him, and he will want and has said he will help liverpool achieve the main goals! Until he or anything has been done (transfered) , just trust and believe he wants to stay! Its not or gloom and doom at anfield, fsg r making big and new exciting decicisions (spell), have faith guys/girls! {Ed002's Note - It is a new interview.}

Why give the press amo and idea's, canada red

I have read the article, and im sorry, but Im very annoyed with Suarez.

Our good name has been dragged through the mud this past 6 months for various reasons, none more-so than the racism row. Our reputation needs rebuilding, and incidents like this should be left well alone now.

There are better ways to "get your own back" if you feel an injustice has befallen you. Beating Man U in the league, for example. Yet more whining in the press does not help anyone and only serves to keep this sorry affair fresh whilst continuing to damage both his and the clubs reputation {Ed002's Note - I rather think that the owners will share your view of this.}

He hardly 'reignited the racism row' as the so caleed 'news' papers in the UK have tried to make out. He merely answered a question in a very measured way, saying nothing personal towards Evra or Man Utd. You have to understand that Man Utd and the UK press are in cahoots and anything they can do to make them look superior in any way they will. We never stood a chance in the whole affair from the moment it kicked off. We were always going to be hung out to dry by the Press regardless of how the club/ Kenny handled the matter.
The best thing to do is not read the press, I'm pretty sure Suarez doesn't.

Our Man Suarez is most likely disgusted with the way KK was treated, I presonally wouldn't blame him if he did engineer a way out of a once great club.

I have read the full FA report, it seems like some of you haven't. I can totally understand his frustration as there was no evidence of him saying or doing anything wrong. People can question him but i genuinely believe he is not a racist (black grandad) and from previous cry wolf incidents involving Evra, i would feel frustrated that he can have his say, but every time Suarez opens his mouth he is shouted down.

25 May 2012 20:57:20
if martinez gets the job i will put my house on the fact victor moses will follow him from wigan .
and just a shout ed but what about yakubu from blackburn to help get the goals next season from blackburn cheap option and will allow us to spend big on winger and playmaker {Ed002's Note - I somehow doubt Yakubu will be heading to Anfield.}

Hopefully hed be able to part a few defences ;)

Why oh why would we want Yakubu? Well past it.

Gaz1975.

Unbelievable how some peoples minds work.

Yakubu??? i realy realy hope you never go into management ude ave djimi traore up front! an ave joey barton commanding ya midfield!

Yakubu to Liverpool fc. Is that the same fat lazy fella who has been knocking about for years. That rumour should be on the banter page

Only the yak can do this

You just lost your house

Corr your aiming high.

25 May 2012 20:50:47
Ed just checking whats the deal with the transfer window opening times? Is it july 1st till 31st of august? Thanks {Ed002's Note - Right.}

Think the british transfer window is open now as well

25 May 2012 20:42:13
Juventus manager Antonio Conte and his assistant Algelo Alessio are at the Uruguay v Russia game, Hopefully they are not there to see Suarez (who has just scored)

They probably are there to watch him as they want him. Suarez is happy at Liverpool and has stated that several times. The only way he will leave is if FSG want to sell him?

After them screwing us on Aquilani, we shouldn't deal with them again.

Nobody forced us to buy Aquilani

Gaston Ramirez, Cavani etcc

Think he means them taking him on loan, saying they'd sign him, then pulling out. Much like Milan did this season.

25 May 2012 20:31:40
although it is very early to tell in my opinion these are our most likely;
Rasmus Elm
Luuk De Jong
Ryan Boudebouz
Gaston Ramirez

We will not get a single one of them, and miss out on great chances like we do every year

We haven't even got a manager or DoF...who would buy them?

Not with a clown manager

Whilst the opening post does seem fanciful and pointless the replies are moronic. Why are so many so called fans so bloody miserable and negative minded ?

Gaston and ryan play in similar roles just different playing styles.

those lot would cost
£8m for Elm
£13m for Luuk
£13m for Ryan
£16m for Gaston
=£50m

I'd also like us to get AM/FWD/Winger Lodeiro on a Free and someone for left back cover.

Elm is quality! Should definitely get him!

25 May 2012 20:00:51
Pep could be on his way !!

On his way to Chelski

I have a feeling about that too!

Not when martinez has been offered job

Good one.............

Why don't we agree the new manager will be Spanish? Lol
Bazzaa

He is a bit young to manage then.

Mighty reds

Now that is funny

Its not impossible

Hmm dont think so! can only wish though, that we dont get martinez and get pep or AVB instead!

He'd. Get the job take 1 training session realise how s**t our squad is an be on the 1st flight back to Spain he would want 10m a year an £100m to spend no chuffin chance you are deluded if you think otherwise

Worth the 10mil an kenny spent over 100 mil, he would attract more players young and europian cheep... Tello ect
Compared to downing, hendo and Carroll just think who he could bring in... Paying the extra for him would be worth every penny if you ask me

OxRED

Why would he want to manage a club where the owners don't even turn up to all/most of the matches...how could they know the truth about the season?

Maybe pep-berto martinez

25 May 2012 18:19:48
Hello Ed002,
is Kuyt on a move to Hamburg? thanks {Ed002's Note - He has options and Hamburg is certainly one.}

25 May 2012 17:47:05
Ryad Boudebouz : "Liverpool are a big club and there has been contact..I still have a two year contract,but I want to leave"

Is there a chance he could join us ed's? I think he's got the potential to be very good.

matt wollacott

He has very quick feet and has impressive skills and tricks.

It would be moving forward if Liverpool were to sign players of this type of quality. Hopefully Wenger doesn't try and steal a march on us.

Boudebouz would be a positive signing for Liverpool F.C

25 May 2012 17:34:24
The Gremio FC official website has reported that Fabio Aurelio has agreed a deal with the Brazilian outfit.

With the Brazilian's Anfield contract due to expire, the left-back is set to bring an end to life on Merseyside.

A statement on Gremio's website says: "Gremio confirm agreement with the left-back Fabio Aurelio Rodrigues. The player's contract extends to December 31, 2013.

"The player, developed at Sao Paulo, has been with Liverpool in England since 2006 and also served for six years at Valencia in Spain."

Aurelio became the first Brazilian to sign for the Reds in July 2006 when he joined Liverpool on a Bosman.

He went on to make 134 appearances in a red shirt, netting six goals including a never to be forgotten free-kick in the 4-1 win v Manchester United at Old Trafford.

His last appearance in a red shirt was against Fulham at Anfield back on May 1.

Mark the Red

I liked his free kick against chelsea in champions league quarter final when we lost.
huddz red

I wish hime the best of luck. He scored some great goals in big games including his free kicks against the Mancs. Injuries and age should probably not have seen him get a new contract from Roy.

Good footballer and great lad.

And what about the same free kick against Chelsea

25 May 2012 15:39:40
If vertonghen wants to go to tottenham who have no ucl but they are unwilling to pay 15 million is it so crazy for us to try and sign him?

They have said they can't afford him

If he doesn't go to Spurs he'll go to Arsenal. Both teams will be looking more attractive than Liverpool right now.

He support's them and want's to go to them so if they want him then yes it's pointless even trying!

Let him go there

He's a great defender. I've been banging on for god knows how long that we should go for him, along with Affelay.

Jonesred

We are not getting into the Champions League anytime soon. We have midtable owners with no ambitions, a relagation battler for a manager and when put players start leaving we can be sure we wont have any hope of getting any where soon. We have gone from the Champion League to being lucky to be in the Europa and by the time FSG and their vision of Martinez are done with us we will be lucky if we even get a carling cup run. Sad sad days for all Liverpool fans and also a sad day for FSG as they are about to loose millions.

Of course they can afford him thats rediculous to say anything other, the player has a year left on his contract ajax want silly money, expect the fee to be around £9 million

25 May 2012 15:12:45
Sterling, SUSO & Toni Silva to get new long term contracts as all three of their contracts are due to expire the summer of 2013.

Also expect Pacheco to come back and fill in for Maxi. And Aquilani is touch and go but most likely to go maybe to Palermo, Fiorentina, Genoa or Udinese

Pacheco is not a winger, and does not want to stay at Liverpool.

Thats it I'm affraid for now youngsters and 2nd rate player

forget the CL for years to come lets hope someone can buy out FSG

What a load of rubbish some folks write.Call yourselves supporters !
What you are saying is that the only way back to top 4 is by having a Russian Billionaire or an oil rich Arab feeding us cash.
With regard to original post, pure guess work.

Maxi isn't a winger he is a attacking midfielder.

Pacheco is a fwd but for Spain u20 he plays as left winger/attacking midfielder.

and we that is just the youngsters that the club is committing to. We will buy 3-5 players depending on the caliber of players we get.

I assure you that toni silva is getting sold and not getting a new contract!! his attitude and ill discipline is not liked at the academy! scousedel

Lets hope some one buys out FSG, what are you pre pubescent or just stupid? They are looking to stabilise a sinking ship. They have experience in world brand management and also sports franchises. How about you carry on playing FM and stop contributing your opinions

If martinez is manager i think he would get best out of pacheco like he has with moses.

ACHILLES.

With regards to toni silva that would be for the new manager to decide if it is Martinez he would defo have plans for Toni Silva and Pacheco "the two with attitude problems" who are by the way are our best reserve players.

25 May 2012 13:45:51
eds are we really close to getting Diame? we aint even got a manager

Matt Wollacott. {Ed002's Note - Not close, no.}

Have we got intrest in him then Ed, or will it depend on if Martinez wants him?

Thanks

Burnsy {Ed002's Note - I suspect he will move to Malaga.}

This is genuine by the way I live round the corner from him in warrington! I keep forgetting to try and find out off him but when I got out later I'll at least check if his house is for sale as that may give us some clues ;)

CHickey.

Maybe
However Diame is awful

25 May 2012 13:31:53
Ed Sky say David Amoo released and joining Preston, has anyone else been released?

Barry 1243 {Ed002's Note - Aurelio.}

Great pace but no end product should off had a lot more experience out on loan 17 onwards Liverpool wait too long to send players out on loan the reverse aren't a good enough level to walk str8 into the 1st team they need game time at a good level

25 May 2012 13:04:34
hey eds was micheal owen released by man u. thanks and please post {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Any chance of owen joining liverpool once we have a manager in place?......RED INDIAN {Ed001's Note - no.}

The two faced traitor should of been released from a catapult

Yes, he's been released and so what. Boy Wonder has been nothing of note for years.

Owen back, r u a manc? joining man who is unforgiveable

He's supposed to be going across stanley park I heard

Poster.... was
google too much of a hard task for you, I really don't think its necessary asking such a question on here

25 May 2012 11:56:11
If we are genuinely looking for a long term replacement for reina then we should snap up bogdan from bolton before someone else does. Bolton may have been relegated but he had an outstanding season. we could even loan him back for a season or two.. MonaghanRed

I'd get ter stegen from borussia mogendblach. He's gonna be really big soon, and he's only about 19, so could be 20 years left in him.

Bogdan is so bad, might aswell get dudek back he would be a lot better.

Good call

Really!! Have you seen some of the goals he has let in!! Positioning is awful. Wake up. Agree ter Stegen looks good.

Bogdan is only 5 years younger than Pepe

Martin

No way we can't have ginge in the team! that will spoil the team photo ;-p

I take it u didn't watch the stoke game

Wavertree red

I asked the eds about ter stegan and kapino previously and neither would be here to as second choice..

I agree with the first poster, Ter Stegen looks set to explode onto the scene soon enough - probably give him a bit longer by loaning him back out though if we got him.

Insightful Red

Go for Ter Stegen! He's great. Would try to sign him and loan him back to Gladbach

You cannot be serious, you clearly don't watch enough football or you are bogdan looking for a move. Seriously get a grip we are a team in some serious redevelopment for the good not the other way...

Haha what are you on. Bogdan is awfull!!

Bogdan is at best average - and he is not often at his best.

BJH YNWA

Think alot of people has abit high toughts of ou r club... To think ter stegen would be intressted in beeing backup , u need to be mental....

Get vorm

Jack Butland or Marc Anders Ter Stegen

25 May 2012 11:34:07
Expect bids for James McCarthy, Matt Phillips & Luuk De Jong this summer. Perhaps a free transfer like Mohamed Diame too.

I wouldn't get your hopes up thinking Muniain or Soldado will join, the money required to land players like that just isn't available until we CL football.

Please not Matt Phillips.....not good and poor finishing!

Bit of a vicous circle then, becasue the squad we have now and the new additons suggested will be far from achieving a top 4 finish. I would be suprised if the owners brough a new manager and told they ecpect champions league football or at least progression towards bu dont give them a bit of money to invest. Obviously there not going to outlay like they did last year but I dont think any new manager coming in is going to beleive that the players we signed last year are good enough and that it was just bad spell in each of there careers that just unfortunatley happened to all the players we payed big money for.

I have no clue who Mat Phillip sis and I usually know the decent players so that worries me. McCarthy is good. The striker is not the 20 goal a season type but decent. Soldado is not out of the price range i'd say even if he would be the most expensive signing, more to the point is the fact we don't have CL football.
Cheers,
Tommy

We don't even know who the new manager is yet so how on earth can you say we'll which players??? Complete guesswork and probably complete rubbish!!

Just expect this then? Without a manager or director of football, I believe you

All made up!

Phil

I would be P!ssed if we go for McCarthy we have Henderson and Shelvey don't need him we need a DM replacement for spearing. like as you say diame

Matt Phillips don't really mind, his game is the same as babels so that is good we'd have a direct player who will take players on and test them something that downing has not done for LFC EVER.

Would be happy with Luuk De Jong any day, and also Lodeiro he's shown promise and has played for Uruguay. still young 23 i believe, free and would make Suarez happier than he already is.

So how do we achieve champions league spot if we do not get top players?

Martinez is king

When will you guys wake up.
FSG didnt spend big overall outlay around £25Million, in todays age that small fry.
Outgoings took acre of the rest, but no one remembers outgoings...

We are one sad club now forget CL
2nd rate managers get 2nd rate players, FSG are getting 2nd rate advice...
KK - YNWA

I'd have James McCarthy but not sure about other two

Test of strength for the new manager: get rid of local boy Spearing.

Tough decision to make but it needs to be done. He does that, I believe he knows what he's doing.

Clearly have no idea that he a decent player and will grow upto be a good player have you not heard about letting players grow example lucas

JJ

I agree, playing him cost daglish the fa cup and ultimately his job, he looked like a kid compared to the opposition, and he doesnt really have the skills to make up for the lack of stature

And maybe naming a new captain

"Test of strength for the new manager: get rid of lthe Brazilian lad Lucas.

Tough decision to make but it needs to be done. He does that, I believe he knows what he's doing."

Heard this stuff before from impatient fans...

Maybe..but at least he is an honest player. The first name on my list (well, excluding Aurellio who has now gone) would be downing. Sell him while he still has some value and get somebody who will actually put a shift in for us and do complicated stuff, like beat a man and put in a decent cross...maybe even spoil with the odd goal or two. If there are no takes id swap him will N'Zogbia who had a dreadful season at villa but is still a useful player with a lot left in his locker...in my opinion.

I think it'd be best for club to let him go. He has turned in to a decent player. Works hard but perhaps, he is too in-consistent. And we've many better youngsters than him. YNWA Trustme

Jay Spearing... As much use as feet on a fish. GET RID !

Hes already had time to grow up, he'll be 25 next season. We would see it by now if he was going to be quality. I'd say loan him to lower legue and see if he manages to become great. then decide what to do next year.

Manno

Why do people try and stand by Spearing he's atrocious, his passing is okay back or sideways, he has no drive, shot, vision, he just runs to the ball like a stray puppy, he won't grow into a good player he's already 23 going on 24 and any decent player can play round him with complete ease. What other Premiership team would he get in exactly, Holden and Reo-Coker are better than him and they've both just been relegated

Doesn't matter if he's local or not. He's just not good enough

Jay does fall a bit below the required standard but Lucas was poor until well into last season and may not return as good as he was so I don't think a new manager will rush into that decision.
Re new captain. What sort of person are you ? A Manc? Bet you want Suarez out as well.

I don't believe Spearing is another Lucas. I agree he needs to go. Sloppy passes time and time again have cost us.

At last people are coping on...he is rubbish...and as another poster posted a new captain to be installed Stevie is not a patch of what he used to be (Skertle)

Comparing Spearing to Lucas is stupid. We might as well compare every player at Liverpool who's been naff and is under 22 to Lucas shall we?

Lucas showed promise, he was a leader for his old team - we signed a Bola de Ouro winner (the previous 3 winners being Tevez, Robinho and Kaka)

Spearing hasn't shown them qualities, he couldn't shine at Leicester two years ago, and has hardly played a decent game in 50 for Liverpool.

We signed Lucas at 20 from the other side of the world, he learnt a new position and different culture of the game, by 23 he was immense and look at him now.

Jay spearing has been at Liverpool for 14 years (since he was a little boy) and still can't function well in the midfield, he's had 5 seasons since his debut and still looks like a headless chicken, he asks for every ball going, only to pass it to the nearest defender and then does the same again every time we build up play (fair play it gets his passing stats up!), he tries a "Gerrard" shot every game and once in 10 he gets close (never actually on target, unless it's a weak hit.)

This season was his chance and he's all but blown it, he looks out of his depth, I don't think he'll make it in the Premier league with a top 10 side any time soon. He'll turn 24 before the end of this year and he's not shown glimses of promise, if he wasn't Scouse he'd have a lot more calls to go from the fans. Fair play he tries, but he's just cack.

Dan

Spearing doesn't have the stuff. Look it took Dalglish to fire Sammy Lee

Agreed Spearing shouldn't be playing so regularly, a back up to the back up is really all. He gives everything but lack of talent is obvious. Despite his relative non-existance for much of last season you can tell Henderson has more talent even.
Bommy

Agreed he needs to go terrible player

Such short memories! Lucas was the worst player in the world at one point...now hes one of our most important players! Face it, its gonna be a while till we are a champs league team again so just enjoy watching the players grow because in another 2 years or so you are the fellers that will be jumping on the bandwaggon! Stop moaning!

Phil

JJ - You have not got a clue if you think spearing is a good player. If we do decide to sell him (Which will make my opinion on the new manager increase enormously) we will see what teams will be interested, he will be lucky if a championship team makes an offer. Doubt we would even offload him on a free. As for the other comment about him being honest, who cares, Im a honest person that does not give me the right to wear our shirt. I agree with getting rid of Downing though but to swap him for N'Zogbia? he is as lazy as Downing.

Agreed, I like the lad but he's had long enough to prove himself. Good players have just about hit their peak by 25. Not a player to take liverpool to the next level and not good enough to cover for Lucas

The big test will be sidelining Carragher actually

Fadi

Well said Dan comparing Spearing to Lucas is just stupid...he needs to go

Yes carragher needs to move into the coaching staff... again daglish much as i love him i think played him out of sentimentality at times, most notably in the back three in the final

Why is it such a stupid comparison? Lucas just demonstrates how people can improve, simple as that!

Agree that comparing Lucas to Spearing is plain stupid.

BJH YNWA

Bit tight slagging jay off like that people... He's a championship player yes but you don't need to rip him to shreds.. will you all be ripping in to Martinez when he takes over??

Wake up already,spearing is no where near good enough if you want only scousers go an support afc liverpool.an exactly when is spearing going to grow into a good player? pension day?

Spearing is absolutely awful not Liverpool standard at all get rid move on simple

Ryan

Spearing should not be sold

We all said the same about Lucas! How many times!! Everyone needs to give it a rest!

Phil

Better young players have been sold. not a bad sub, but will never be half the player gerrad was his age

Totally agree. No disrespect to Jay but he certainly isn't of the quality of a central midfield player for LFC. I would've preferred to have had Jonjo playing as much last season instead of Jay!
Village

I wont be too harsh to jay who is honest. i also agree downing shud be sold asap.

Sorry but Spearing has to go. A very poor midfielder, who would struggle to get a berth in any Premiership team.

What I struggle with is that we've had Masc, Alonso, Sissoko, Aqual & even Plessis (remember the Arsenal away match) and somehow ended up with Spearing. It is a sad reflection of where we are!!

Hey ed- if we need a new keeper to replace Doni do you think Liverpool would consider Matt Ryan from CCM in the A-League. I know it is a far cry from the EPL but he is only 19, and was the best player in one of the top teams. He is part of the Australian squad for upcoming qualifiers. He would likely not cost a lot but would be a real investment in the future- what do you think?

ps Great site {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of him but a work permit may be an issue.}

As an Aussie id love to see it, but I dunno if he up to it? Maybe he needs to try league 1 or 2 first?

I think you consider getting rid of Rienna, getting too slow alot of goals were his fault

Need someone with more experience than that.

Maybe get him and loan him out hope is not like Dean Bouzanis was mean't to be the next big thing, a million pounds later in wages he is playing for Oldham Athletic

Ed 002 any chance of liverpool getting one of Marc-André ter Stegen or Stefanos kapinos as backup to reina as both doni & jones may leave? both rated very highly and looks to have a bright future ahead.. {Ed002's Note - ter Stegan would not want to sit on the bench. Kapinos I don't know but he has been linked to other EPL clubs.}

I live in australia and have watched him play and he is an outstanding young goal keeper

A work permit might be a sticking point, but if hes selected in the international squad it makes it more likely, even if we had to get it on appeal. You can appeal on the grounds that he is an outstanding talent if hes international. {Ed002's Note - It is rather more complicated than that.}

Seem to recall Doni mentioned he doesn't intend to leave.

He is seriously a sound keeper!

Matt Ryan has already said his spending a few more years in the A-League. Great goalkepper though, is Australia's number one in the future......should snap him up now as he will make the grade in the EPL! But, he is only 19 and needs some years to develop, as an Australian I'm excitied about this kid.

By the Way his alot better goalkepper than Dean Bouzanis, twice the kepper already and his only 19.

We need someone to push Reina, someone who wont just sit on the bench like Cavalieri, Itanje, Doni, Jones, and others, ter Stegen would push Reina, and has the quality to replace him. Look at Chelsea, Lampard has only got back to his best sinse being pushed by Ramirez and Meireles, people he knows ave the quality to knock him out of the squad.
Basically theres no point signing a bench warmer, because Reina knows hes better and it doesnt put pressure on him, he needs a young gun or someone determined to unseat him as the no.1

Anfield Andy

The A-league is poor. Similar to Div 2 in UK. I don't see us buying from there

You will find Rafa said Dean Bouzanis was the best keeper in the world for his age. Bye way Im sure you never saw Dean Bouzanis play so you cant really compare them.

I dont think there is any point in trying to link players to us yet because we dont have a manager to make the decisions do you agree eds?

Cheers JJ

At last, someone makes a sensible comment!

The manager wont be making the transfer decisions .it will be the d.o.f and we dont have one of them either !

Just like Chavski who don't know who their manager is next season but have signed Marin?

By Chavski i assume you mean chelsea which if you know if known as 'Chelski' not 'Chavski' and I dont know were you have heard that from i certainly havent heard i dont if the eds have? Plus Chelsea are in a different situation to us were they have Di Matteo as there possible manager who most likely to get the job liverpool dont they have no one. As for the comment above that managers do make the descions as you saw with Dalglish he came out and said he made the transfers and managers quiet obviously make the descions otherwise they could get bad players and therefore they wouldnt play them and its a waste of money

Cheers JJ

Im pretty sure everyone knows chelsea have signed marin mate

Ok maybe they have i dont know i havent been on here for a while but im saying there in a different situation to us and i think there more focus on getting a manager than any signings so people suggesting signings that is going to happen is non sense

JJ

Stop Making Sense. One for the older heads on here. ;)

Hi eds, please post!
Now can we say that Martinez is our manager?
Also, will the new manager look at Luuk de Jong and Ryad Boudebouz?

great site!
Cheers
RED Varun {Ed002's Note - I would not be surprised if both were targets this summer.}

Liverpool signs deal with Plymouth-born defender Lloyd Jones, 16

Jones, a 6ft 3in centre-back, was part of Plymouth Argyle's thriving centre of excellence when he was snapped up by Liverpool last summer.

They paid £20,000 for Jones during a time when the Pilgrims were in administration after their financial collapse.

Jones moved to Merseyside to complete his school education and was set to start a two-year apprentice contract in July.

But the Wales youth international broke into Liverpool's under-18s squad towards the end of this season, making his debut in a game against Newcastle United.

Jones has now signed a deal which will see him complete 12 months as an apprentice followed by two years as a professional at Anfield.

The defender, who also attended Manadon Vale Primary School, joined Argyle at the age of 11.

He was spotted by the Pilgrims playing for Plymouth Schools under-11s.

Jones benefited tremendously from the quality of coaching and support provided by Argyle's youth staff.

His younger brother, Owen, will be part of the Pilgrims' under-15 squad next season.

Jones is eligible to play international football for Wales because his father, Gareth, was born there.

The teenage centre-back was capped four times at under-16 level and played seven times for the under-17s.

Jones was invited for a four-day trial by Liverpool last May and the Premier League club then made their move for him.

He has spent the past year at school in Liverpool while living with a 'host family'.

Kenny Dalglish took a close interest in the Reds' academy, including the development of Jones, while he was the manager at Liverpool, until his recent dismissal.

There is still a lot of hard work ahead of Jones as there is fierce competition in Liverpool's academy, with young players recruited from across the world.

But the Reds clearly rate him highly, having offered him a two-year professional contract at the age of only 16.

Went to same school as him for 4 years, good player!

Well done Argyle -such a shame about the position they are in now . might be a few of these boys who have to take jobs on the barbican instead of fulfilling there dream .

I used to coach this lad when I was at uni. His dad Gareth was one of my lecturers. Great lad and I hope he goes all the way.

As a liverpool fan, I would like to welcome u and your. Family to the anfieldd family. May your wishes come true! Y..N..W..A!

Redkenyan;

Alonso put in a transfer request because Rafa tried to sell him the summer before for pittance to Juventus. Barry is woeful and anyone who rates him higher than Alonso is a fool.

Aqualani never wanted to be here in the first place.

Torres may have been injured, but why replace him with a defender (was it Aurelio?, I can't remember)?

One thing the whole kenny saga has shown I that going backwards is not the way forward.

davethebutcher

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once Xabi knew Madrid were in for him he wanted out! don't blame Rafa for him going!
------------------------------
Davethebutcher,
"why replace torres with a defender?" I'm not pretending to be a football expert but it was not necessarily a defensive move.
e.g. Man City Vs. Newcastle in April 2012. City desperately needed a goal. Mancini subbed off Nasri and brought in De Jong. City fans were booing because they thought it was a defensive substitution. De Jong coming in meant Yaya was pushed forward and he ended up scoring a vital goal.

redkenyan

How the hell can you not blame the waiter for trying to sell him to Juventus? Basically telling him he wasn't wanted at Liverpool - the man was a fool in the transfer market - any person could buy Torres, Mascherano - but it takes a special person to put Jovanovic on 90k a week, - every manager makes good signings and bad signings, he made both - with a massive slant towards bad.

Bit harsh to call barry woefull, not xabi standard but he was the most consistant and picked out field player for the winners of the prem

The sun doesn't shine out of Xabi's behind. Fact #1 he was one of the first players complaining about the taxes going up for high earners, pointing out that footballers will think about going elsewhere, google it. Fact #2 he was not fantastic during his entire spell at Liverpool, there was a time when I couldn't blame Rafa for looking elsewhere. In the new year when the pitches started to cut up he often looked poor.

Rafa tried to sell a player who's form had gone downhill, the player stayed, improved and wanted to leave for big money elsewhere. That is pretty much it.

We can clearly blame Rafa for signing Milan Jonanovic on wages of approx 100k per week.

End of

Em, do people not recall that Alonso had a couple of poor seasons after this shoulder injury? I remember that you could tell after ten minutes whether or not he should be left on the field. Remember too that nobody wanted to buy Alonso for the £10M Rafa made him available for?

As it turned out, trying to sell Alonso was the kick in the backside he needed (good management? probably more accidental good management) and he was then outstanding the following season where Real came in with the £30M+ offer.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Rafa is a good man manager and I don't want him back but I don't think he was wrong at that particular point in time to try to replace the under-performing and inconsistent Alonso for the over-performing and consistent Barry.

Rafa saw Barry as someone who could play a vital role in a title winning side.

Have a look what happened to Barry last season.

He is a very good player and a totally different player to Alonso. To compare them is silly.

Mate you have this all wrong. None of what you are saying is true, so go away united fan

Rafa had two options sell Mascherano or Xabi Alonso as the owners at the time needed to pay interest on the substantial loan. Of the two players it was potentially easier to replace a player maker rather than a defensive midfielder. Based on stats available at the time Alonso did not perform to the same standard he did in his last season. At the end of that season he was offered a new contract and rejected it. In essence hindsight is a wonderful thing but the decision was correct in trying to also fulfil the home grown quota.

At least we got decent cash for Xabi. Masc forced through his move and we let him go below his true value.

I would never have sold Alonso. Even at his worst i rate him higher than barry. However, i rate Xabi extremely highly. Therefore I think it would have been disappointing for Rafa to sell him and get Barry in, but I would have been confident that barry was solid and could hold the midfield well. We wouldn't have gone backwards too much. But HE DIDN'T GET BARRY! that was Rafa's biggest failing (and also i rate rafa highly aswell so this isnt an anti-rafa rant) If we'd have got barry in rather than aquilani who never wanted to leave Roma, then we could have stayed in the top 4, and rafa may not have gotten sacked, and we could have started building towards another title challenge.
Not getting barry was the failure, not losing Xabi (who i love)

Dave the butcher how can you call somebody who doesnt agree with you a united fan .and to call rafa the waiter is a dissgrace you might not want him as the manager but to dissrespect the man you should go and support somebody else.
soul man

Yes not getting Barry was a failure but can you be SURE it was Rafas fault? maybe he was promised the funds and then didn't get them. With those two cowboys in charge, we don't know for sure. Rafa even said that he got an email from Hicks saying: "my son is in charge of transfers". How can any sane person work under such conditions?

redkenyan

Is everyone forgeting rafa led us to second in prem won us the champions league and donated huge amounts of money to hillsborough if u want him as manager or not the man should be shown respect

Rafa won the champions league and knew what he was doing in europe I'll give him that. He also knew how to change the game (at the beginning when he had a half decent squad), however the bloke was useless in the transfer market and I'm sure if you gave my missus the money he had to spend she'd too buy a few quality players aswell as aload of rubbish.
Am I thankful for what Rafa did? Yes
Do i want him back? God No! he's part of the reason we're in the mess that we are in. If you can't see that i suggest you take up following another sport as football isn't for you

Pegleg {Ed002's Note -

Alonsos seasons in my opinion where like this

2004-2005 good
2005-2006 good
2006-2007 average
2007-2008 poor Rafa had to sell to buy
2008-2009 excellent

gee man

Rafa wanted Barry and alonso. Finances wouldn't allow it and alonso, who had had a poor season by his standards was offered out. If you are gonna blame anyone, blame the yanks.

Please confirm the amount of money rafa apparently bled from the club as he refused to resign ?

Why are you lot still arguing about this. Its gone..leave it. Rafa is not coming back, thank god...why oh why do people forget the dross we played and the money wasted on a lot of average players (not just one or two but lots).

I agree but don't defend benitez he made many mistakes at anfield. he singed so many flops for huge money

Of all the chelski players being released, do you think there is any interest from us for any of them? Essien is a total g#t but quality when fit. What you reckon?

Howcouldheplay {Ed002's Note - Essien may be made available but will not be released from his contract.}

25 May 2012 08:48:54
hey eds, is there any interest in andre schurrle guy looks very good for bayern leverkusen and is only 21 scored a lot of very good goals this season. On another note it was reported our wage bill was 130 million last year who is getting paid that much money? {Ed002's Note - Schurrle is available at the right price but what interest there has been does not include Liverpool at this time.}

Schurrle could be a good option for the kuyt Role wide forward.

Ed 2
no one knows whether or not there is an interest because there is no manager or dof to have an interest {Ed002's Note - Sorry, what was wrong with what I wrote?}

No Manager, No new palyers

FSG - No idea!

Kick out the Yanks

Kick out the yonks? Shut up muppet , kick out the planks like u! These guys have been here. Not even 2 years, and have improved us as a club 10 ffold, they are planning a structure on what they think his best, they give kenny the job after the 1st 6 months he transformed us into what we all thought was a top team, with the same players roy had, then when he got the job full time, and bought the players in the summer, it went pete tong, we stopped playing kuyt and maxi, plus sold merelies, remember the game away against fulham, when maxi got a hatrick, what happened was he statrted to be more scared to lose, then go to win! Always be a legend, but something went wrong since the end of the season b4, to the start of last season!

25 May 2012 06:52:31
hey eds, do you think we could get matt jarvis. thanks {Ed002's Note - I really don't know if the interest is there.}

25 May 2012 03:00:37
Eds,
We are in the market for right winger, correct? Any interest lfc have on milos krasic, eduardo salvio, or ryad boudebouz? I think since owner will not give much fund, Krasic would be a good choice.

Gtigz'lfc {Ed002's Note - Boudebouz will leave Sochaux and will perhaps interest Liverpool. Salvio may go to Porto as part payment on the remaining Falcao debt. Juventus will be open to offers for Krasic and Joksimovic has been trying to get as many clubs as possible interested including Lazio, Liverpool and Spurs - and he has had success in gaining interest from Spurs. Lazio, Borussia Dortmund, Villarreal, Sevilla, Zenit St Petersburg, Fenerbahce and Anzhi Makhachkala have a confirmed interest in the player although I suspect Dortmund will drop their interest. There is at least one very influential person at Chelsea who very much likes the player and wishes to revisit earlier interest. Krasic has declared his interest in Manchester United and it is not completely out of the question that they may be interested in him. Fenerbahce strike me as the most likely destination for him right now.}

25 May 2012 06:54:03
hey eds think kalou will join. thanks {Ed002's Note - I would doubt it.}

He is shocking , y would we want him ?

Why oh why would LFC be interested in Kalou? He is garbage!!

25 May 2012 03:38:47
What is the deal with Nathaniel Clyne eds? He has won numerous young player awards for years now, yet he hasn't been picked up. Any EPL clubs interested in him? {Ed002's Note - Newcastle and Reading have certainly enquired about Clyne but interest from Manchester United will see a move to Old Trafford the likely conclusion.

25 May 2012 02:44:04
Sorry to see Fabio Aurelio leave. I always thought he was quality but injuries and his age have gone against him. Good luck at Gremio YNWA

cozinoz

As maybe but he shouldnt have had contract renewed.Always been a sicknote

I disagree....Im delighted to see the back of him. Why romanticise a chap who spent five years in the treatment room picking up rediculous wages and was extreemly average when he did play. He is actually the sort that needs to be bombed out of the club and replaced with somebody younger and hungrier. I will remeber him fondly for the free kick goal at OT but thats about it..

@ second poster
I thought he was on a pay as you go contract so wages wouldn't have been a problem.

Hardly his fault to be injured and getting paid - whats he supposed to do......give up his wages? Should Gerrard be giving a refund too? And Kewell? Give an ex-player some respect and wish him the best ffs

25 May 2012 00:18:56
hi eds any chance of getting david villa sice barca play pedro on left and sanchez on right

and what about victor moses since hes on free transfer

junior hoilett hes young got pace and hes got to be better than downing

Young Red {Ed002's Note - Villa's age and fee may be an issue. Moses and Hoilett will be moving this summer and have been dealt with previously.}

They don't play pedro

David Villa broke his leg at the start of the season, that's why he hasn't been playing, once he is fit Barcelona wont let him go.

24 May 2012 23:55:42
Ed 016, has denial clouded your vision? thats clearly henry. Martinez is our man, deal with it pal.

Ben the red {Ed016's Note - I realize that now, I'm more worried about the stick he is going to get after losing 2 in a row and having to deal with the hate)

Yeah i hear ya. I beg wigan isnt our opening day of season.

At the end of the day, every manager has to start somewhere, hes plied his trade at swansea and wigan.

People say swansea are only decent because of the foundation he planted.

Urmmm if there is a highly mature and experienced guy as the dof, then he can show him the way.

Ben the red

I think martinez is a good choice. i prefer manages who started managing at a club with no real chances at anything and see what style they play. his teams always tried to play the right way and that gives me hope. other managers manage at huge clubs with huge funds and are considered brilliant but i often wonder how they would perform if they had to start out in the lower leagues and slowly work their way up.

martinez for me is a very decent manager who has potential to be a great manager. he articulates well and doesnt antagonize or says controversial things to the press. and on top of all of that he is young which means he is hungry as well. AVB did not impress me at all at chelsea and inherited the strongest team in portugal. i say give martinez a chance. i think he may surprise the crap out of us.

Come on everybody if Martinez is to be our next manager we need to be looking at a minimum of a 5 year plan....he has inherited a decentish squad that with a few good recruits could be ok however he needs to put his stamp on the style of play which could take time. His teams play a great style of football (you never know he may not play 3 holding midfielders at Anfield!) The press love him which will help!! Dalglish I'm afraid became a characature of himself and became increasingly embarrassing infront of the press. If he's our man then give him a chance....if he loses 2 on the trot big deal! Look at the long term! Fereguson was about to be sacked but got a lucky break in the cup and he didn't do badly! All neutrals think it's a great appointment....it's only the few deluded LFC fans who still think in the past that have a problem....look at the league table and give the man a chance (long term!)

24 May 2012 23:37:06
Any interest in marchisio? Not a lot of chance, but hey why not! And what about lisandro López? Worth a shot.

Interest from who?????have u not noticed the gap in the hierachy of our club from steve clark pretty much all the way up to john henry. who is there to identify targets, talk to players or negotiate deals?
joehoho

He's apart of the Juve team. home grown etc etc

There must have been a "list" before Kenny left. Maybe they were on it. So i'll rephrase the question: could they be summer targets for us?

24 May 2012 23:34:49
Liverpool could be in with a chance of signing Arjen Robben after he was booed by our own fans hope this is not true.

Are you a bayerrn fan?personaly i think he would be more of a problem than a team player.

Haha get real
