Any truth to our interest in Winston Reid? From what I've read Firmino wouldn't command a huge fee, why is it some youngsters cost so much more than others? Firmino is Brazilian which usually mean you have to pay mad money. Is it just the clubs they're at or something to do with contracts?

Immobile top scorer in Italy for Torino from mid table, any prem teams looking at him eds?

Believable2 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - no idea sorry.}

Hi Ed 1,
In a previous reply you stated Lallana was not interested in LFC. Do you happen to know why? Is it the Club, money or not interested in moving?
Thanks

Believable2 Unbelievable10

{Ed001's Note - not looking to move and he is an Evertonian, so not keen on joining us.}

Is that not very unprofessional? It would be a great move for his career. J.C was an Evertonian look at the career he had with us.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - why is it unprofessional? What is wrong with everyone? The lad is happy where he is and choosing to stay, rather than join a team he has no interest in. Nothing unprofessional about that, just loyal and lacking in the kind of mercenary values I wouldn't want at the club anyway.}

26 Mar 2014 08:05:44
Not that I disagree with you Ed, but does Lallanas 'I want to play champions league football' comment not open the door to a move? Or was he saying he wanted to play it with Soton and journos twisted his words?

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you about him not wanting to move - it's nice to see some loyalty, even in the Premier League. However I don't agree with your point that he wouldn't join Liverpool because he is an Evertonian. He, like any ambitious player might jump at the opportunity to play for any club playing in the Champions League. Let's see what happens in the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Rogers had a chat with him like a sit down and focus chat about his ambitious maybe it could change but there's plenty a fish in the sea

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm interested in this blonde down the road-but that won't happen either!
Lallana has been at Saints since he was about 11, so how is he an Evertonian?

He does not want to move anywhere and is happy to wait another season to get Champions League at Saints-as is Shaw (yes, the one who "wants" to join Chelsea who turned him down as a kid and so he joined Saints-also around 11- and is now about to check his ticket for Brazil.) Maybe both had a picture of another club on their nursery wall but NEITHER have indicated they want to move to ANY club and BOTH have repeatedly stated they are happy to stay at Saints so it MAY JUST be there are a few media types who support your club or Chelsea who are paid to produce a story and are short of ideas.

Just wondering about a few players Ed's if you can shed some light it'd be appreciated. Do you see either of Lars/Sven Bender moving and would you expect us to be interested? Also if Suarez was to leave would you think Sanchez would be attainable? Or would he simply be out of our reach?

Believable16 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - Lars Bender is an option and we have been watching him. It is whether we could persuade them to sell and if he would be interested in moving to England. Sanchez does not get on with Messi, he is attainable, but his price would probably be too much for us.}

Cheers Ed.

I was thinking Sanchez purely as an option if the worst was to happen with Suarez I know you can't guess but I'd like to think we'd seek a quality replacement and be willing to reinvest a lot of the money in that scenario.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - maybe in that scenario it would be possible.}

Any1 else we watched lars bender would be grate

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it true eds that Messi is an ego maniac?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes. He is not a nice lad at all, despite the image. He is even choosing the manager at Barca these days. He regularly verbally abuses anyone who doesn't pass him the ball immediately they can, even if they then go on to score or create for someone else. He even told Sanchez his role in the team is to give him the ball, while telling him that he was **** and not good enough to be in the same team as him.}

Ed, is Ronaldo any better personality wise?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes, to be fair to him. He is still arrogant, but he is not as nasty as Messi, just cocky and confident. He certainly wouldn't abuse his team mates on the pitch like Messi has done. The dislike between him and the Spanish players was not over nastiness, but over the fact that he was the blue eyed boy of the team and the Spanish players were jealous.}

Is that really true about messi?! how do you know? eye opener haha

cheers mate

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - players talk mate, Sanchez has discussed incidents with people when deciding whether or not to stay at Barca or look for a move. I think he deserves a lot of credit for staying and fighting for his place, when he is being treated the way he is. If it was any other workplace, it would be considered bullying and action taken. No way Barcelona are ever going to punish Messi though, and he knows it. So to stay and stand up to it shows a real strength of character, though it did clearly affect his game badly at times.}

He's apprently made Tello cry in the dressing room about 2 years ago.The reports on Messi's behaviour have been around for quite a few years now, I;d have thought it common knowledge.
I find it funny that a lot of his accusations about racial abuse get buried pretty deep and never reported on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol even the best player in the world has short man syndrome

Agree0 Disagree0

Woah had no idea, always preferred CR anyway! Could you see Lars Bender as a SG replacement eds? It's what I did on Football Manager :D

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Bayern Leverkusen's Lars Bender has been a player watched by Arsenal and others, including Manchester United, for some time. He recently signed a new contract - but I do think that a bid will be made by Arsenal before the summer.}

Is messi not liked by all the players or is it just Sanchez and a few players he does not get along with.

the spanish contingent constantly sing his praises, is he asking them for a weekly update?

no one is perfect and the success he enjoys on the pitch obviously enables him to hide his defects. and players of his calibre would be a major pain in the backside for those of lesser talent, they call it the genius syndrome, I can recall michael jordan who would constantly bully his team mates, even kobe in the latter decade, so its not something unheard of. but it was always a odd player here and there, compared to an entire team disliking the star player.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is the odd player, but then most play for him and are happy to do so as it is all they know. It is when someone new comes in and tries to play differently that it causes issues. Though there is friction at times, that happens everywhere, in the main they all seem to get on very well. Either that or they are all damn good liars!}

Wow, that's really shocking about Messi. He comes across as very humble when you watch him playing!

The Spanish players would hate to be overshadowed by a Portuguese so I can see why there was friction with Ronaldo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Watching the barca v celta game yest, the commentator went on to say a group of 5 barca players went to watch beyonce after the madrid game, naming cesc, messi and alexis, surely if sanchez has some beef with messi he won't be going to concerts with him. he did not name the other 2 players.

something is not right. i'm not saying the midget does not have the napoleon complex, but it may just be a work issue rather than a personality issue.

Ed, 001 With Liverpool almost in the champions league & obviously strengthening the squad this summer who would you expect/want to be the most likely additions in the positions of LB, FWD, CB, CDM & probably backup GK?
Any interest on Kevin Volland & Gundogan from Liverpool?

Believable7 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't expect that much to be honest. Most likely a LB and a forward, maybe a CM or GK if money will stretch that far. A lot depends on outs obviously. I certainly would not expect a CB unless we sell two or more as we have loads of them.
None that I am aware of.}

Alex McCarthy = GK
Luke Shaw or Fabio Coentrao = LB
Diame = CDM
Shaqiri or Yarmenlanko = LW/RW

Loan returns:

Fabio Borini
Suso
Jordan Ibe
Andre Wisdom
Assiadi

Will strengthen the squad

Agree0 Disagree1

Ed001 you did say not long ago we was looking at 3 players from Hoffenheim one of them was volland, great player

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes but his price has gone up since then mate, so we have moved on. I agree though, would like him myself.}

25 Mar 2014 14:26:47
Eds what's your thoughts on Balazs Dzsudzsak? Is he good enough and what are the chances that we could look at him in the summer please?

Believable1 Unbelievable14

{Ed001's Note - potentially good enough, with the right coaching, which we seem to have right now, he can be a good addition. We are certainly looking at him, but I am not sure if we will make a bid or if we are just trying to get the price down on other players.}

Thanks for reply Ed. Appreciate it.he looks a decent unit having youtubed him.

Sorry how do you mean using him to try and get price down on other players Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - well often a club will ask for more than they expect to get, so you look elsewhere when you know the player is looking for a move, knowing that the player you want will push for a move, so lowering the price.}

How long does he have left? I can't imagine Borussia wanting to let any one go? Their entire squad is slowly looking at being picked apart

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he plays in Russia mate, either Dynamo or Spartak Moskva, I forget which.}

Oh sorry yes ed001 I was getting him mixed up with Błaszczykowski

Brain fart.

Eds what are the chances we could look at Yann Mvila in the summer? I no his name always crops up and he has attitude problems but is he a viable option for us at all or would we be well stocked in his department?

Believable3 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - it is highly unlikely.}

Hi Eds,
Haven't posted on this site for a while. Just wondering any truth in the Winston Reid rumours? Or any interest from other clubs in him?

As a Kiwi I would love it if he were to join, or to just leave West Ham for a decent team!

You are dong a great Job Eds,

Believable8 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - Newcastle are the only team I know of interested in him. They have tried to sign him 3 times now.}

Cheers for the reply.

Hi Ed's,

Forgive me, I haven't visited the site since January. Though in my defense I have been visiting the site since 2006.

Anyway!

Is there any interest in Lallana? Personally I think he looks like the type of player that would suit our style of play.

And what's going on with Moses? Clearly talented but there must be a reason he's not playing. Lazy?

Cheers.

Believable3 Unbelievable8

{Ed001's Note - Lallana is not interested in joining us. Moses just hasn't been as good as our other options.}

I'm sure Lallana could be persuaded by Champions League football. There's not much prospect of him plying his trade at the highest level at St Mary's. It would demonstrate a lack of ambition should he turn down a move to a CL side.

Agree6 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - or perhaps a different kind of ambition? He is playing for a side that is building for the future, which is with the intent to be in the Champions League. There is no lack of ambition, the lad has already come all the way up from League 1 with this team, why on earth should he leave now? Good to see a loyal player if you ask me.}

Couldn't you say the same for Gerrard? Had many opportunities to go and win the league elsewhere, yet stayed loyal to us and helped us rebuild to the team we are now.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - well said.}

25 Mar 2014 07:48:40
Any interest in Sergi Roberto?

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona need to raise some funds through sales as they are still looking to strengthen in several areas and will also be bringing players through (like Tello) that have been getting experience in the B team. They do accept some of the B side (e.g. Deulofeu and Roberto) have attracted interest from elsewhere and could be let go but many would be reluctant to move on without an assurance of first team football. Like Deulofeu who is on loan at Everton, Roberto has been of interest to English sides including Spurs and Chelsea after being offered around. Barcelona proposed a deal to Chelsea regarding using Roberto in part exchange for another player last summer although it looks a very unlikely proposition. I am not aware of Liverpool making any approach for the player, although it is not something that could be ruled out entirely. There is sustained interest from Inter Milan.}

25 Mar 2014 09:17:24
Ed02, if I may? Isn't this the type of player we should avoid buying? I mean, we have Alberto, Teixeira and Suso to come back.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I simply said that it can't be rules out entirely - there has been no interest shown by Liverpool.}

Got it. I was thinking from an LFC point of view. I just think there are way too many players in that position currently and even more coming through the academy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers Ed.

The real AG, yes I agree, I wasnt saying that we should go for him I was just simply asking because I was curious!
