Do away goals count now or in extra time, squeeky bum time for me x.

Believable0 Unbelievable21

{Ed002's Note - Now.}

26 Feb 2016 13:26:16
Can anyone actually explain the reasoning behind the League Cup only counting away goals after extra time?

It just seems like madness. It gives the away team in the second leg an extra 30minutes to score an away goal.

Hi Ed002,

are we going to go for a GK in the summer.

Believable3 Unbelievable21

{Ed002's Note - Yes. Bogdan will be going in the summer and they club will look for someone who can perhaps push Mignolet.}

25 Feb 2016 15:07:43
I'll push him!

On to the Megabus bound for Stranraer.

Hi Ed002 thank you for your reply, what do you think will happen with Ward, i thought he was brought back to give migs a push which in a way he has done because i think migs has upped his game since ward came back, would like to see ward play for our 1st team but i sont think he will get a game unless migs gets injured.

Agree2 Disagree20

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what will happen with Ward - right now at best he will be third choice at Liverpool. Bringing him back was a mistake - and that has been covered.}

25 Feb 2016 16:18:50
It was not a mistake to recall him we had too because Bogdan was not good enough to even be a backup keeper.

25 Feb 2016 16:43:45
Genius Ron! But Stranrear is too close too Anfield he might come back!

Agree1 Disagree23

{Ed001's Note - just put a ball in front of the gates and he will miss them every time...}

25 Feb 2016 17:59:53
We all know migs won't be first choice next year .

I honestly think the criticism of mings is a bit unfair yeah he's a bit rash and a bit scared but very few team have great goal keepers.

Agree1 Disagree34

25 Feb 2016 21:07:00
Kloppo it was a mistake to recall ward because now instead of him playing competitive football week in week out, and gaining much needed experience and confidence, he's been left to sit on a bench knowing he's not going to get a game unless klopp HAS to play him, how do you think ward himself feels about this.

25 Feb 2016 21:46:50
Priceless from Boot Room Boys
Nothing personal obviously but when you describe our keeper as " rash and scared" but still want to defend him you must be one hell of a lawyer team. Defending the undefendable.

Agree12 Disagree11

26 Feb 2016 02:13:39
Boot, its true. Only winners have good keepers, lol.

Agree4 Disagree21

25 Feb 2016 22:52:47
I don't think it's defending the indefensible but can u name me a world class goal keeper that's available or even a good pl player that's available to take his place at the minute. There's a lot of goal keepers that's far better than him but there the ones that (a) we can't afford or (b) won't come to us.

BRB - sorry but I totally disagree. I don't like putting down players who are playing for us but we have aspirations of being a top 4 team so we ought to expect our 'keepers to be amongst the top 4 in the league. At the moment there's Cech, de Gea, Lloris, Hart, Schmeichel, butland and Begovic who I rate higher than Mings in this league alone. Off the top of my head I can't think of how much each cost, but I don't think many would have been more expensive to their clubs than Mings was to us. He's not solely to blame for all of the defensive blunders (centrebacks need to take a share of the blame too) but i think we need someone who is happy to communicate and marshall the whole defence. I'm not suggesting that we go out and get one of those 'keepers, just making the point that with good scouting there are good players out there who'd be happy to play for us.

Better keeprs than Mings in the PL - Cech, Ospina, Guzan, Boruc, Courtois, Begovic, Hennessey, McCarthy, Howard, Robles, Schmeichel, Schwarzer, Hart, Caballero, De Gea, Romero, Krul, Skekelenburg, Forster, Lloris, Vorm, Butland, Mannone, Fabianski, + Foster, Adrian. That is the PL alone. I think at least one of them could have been available.

26 Feb 2016 14:02:07
@hjikle, would you be happy if we targeted any of the following - Guzan, Boruc, Henessey, McCarthy, Howard (seriously? ), Schwarzer, Romero, Krul, Steklenburg, Mannone?

That's 10 of your list I'd personally be very disappointed to be chasing.

Agree15 Disagree1

26 Feb 2016 22:44:26
@hjikle, behave. All you've done is list almost every goal keeper in the league there. Mignolet is no A-grade but he's certainly a lot better than at least half of your list, as Sean Ireland rightly points out.

Agree11 Disagree1

27 Feb 2016 04:04:58
I agree, migs has got to be in the bottom three keepers in the league. Many teams have numbers 2's better than him. I do think the likes of boruc, mannone, Hennessy are better I don't think they're a step up enough to be actually worth buying. If we have aspirations of top 4 we need to be targeting better than those. What are peoples thoughts on Adrian at west ham? Every time I see him play he seems to have blinders but does seem prone to the odd error. How about navas? Doesn't seem to be getting a great deal of game time at Madrid.

Hi Eds, Marko Marin to LFC? Good player, hopefully good price. What are the chances?

Believable0 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - Measured how? He will leave in the summer but Liverpool has not shown any interest in him and certainly have not approached Chelsea at this time.}

25 Feb 2016 16:03:31
another player that always get linked to lfc. no chance of him signing for Liverpool imo.

Agree1 Disagree12

25 Feb 2016 23:37:11
I meant, he is known to Klopp, is a winger/ creative midfielder and could be available at reasonable price not stupid money. He is wasted at Chelsea and I think is a better option than Milner.

Agree0 Disagree8

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about. Firstly I am not sure how Klopp would know him (aside from any other manager "knowing" a player, and secondly he never fitted in at Chelsea and has been gone from there for three years - albeit still on the books. If Liverpool want him they know what they need to do. I am certain that Chelsea will facilitate it happening.}

26 Feb 2016 01:02:52
Marin? Seriously? Is he still playing?

Agree10 Disagree1

26 Feb 2016 04:44:31
Marko Marin was thought of as the German Messi once. Hahahaha look where have that gone to.

He is German, so is our manager. must be nailed on!

24 Feb 2016 23:14:17
Ed002, do you have any info on these supposed claims that sturridge may want to leave?

Various people seem to think there's something in it and i believe you have said in the past he could leave, unless i am mistaken.

Believable2 Unbelievable24

{Ed002's Note - I am pretty sure he doesn't want to leave. He will want to prove himself to be fit and be a regular starter.}

25 Feb 2016 08:09:37
I genuinely thought mountains were being made out of molehills by this entire situation. People were looking for updates when there was no update to give. I'm fairly certain Klopp came out at one stage during it and said studge needs a 'pre season' of sorts before he could play which made sense in my mind because it was breaking the perpetual cycle of injury > recover > thrown back in straight away > inevitable break down
Only time will tell if the cycle has been broken so fingers crossed.

Agree4 Disagree10

{Ed002's Note - Sturridge was, quite correctly, eased back in. If he picks up an injury now because too much is being asked too soon then the finger will point directly at the coaching staff.}

25 Feb 2016 08:18:21
I agree it's a difficult balancing act for Klopp and co. Play him too much and he will most certainly break down again, don't play him enough and you'll have certain sections of the media/ supporters blasting management for not playing our best player and will come out with ridiculous rumours and theories. Common sense rarely prevails!

Agree3 Disagree10

25 Feb 2016 11:50:19
Eds and Reds would I be right in saying that the majority of his injuries have come in training rather than a competitive match? Not sure where I'm going with this, but perhaps he needs the Ledley King treatment?

Agree4 Disagree10

25 Feb 2016 12:16:24
I'll take the Ed's word on this, paper talk is generally made sensationalism. With any luck he can put this all behind him, Studge is a top class finisher and a tremendous player, so I am glad to see him back.
