I was on Twitter last night (I know I know, but hear me out)
Apparently Liverpool made a £60million bid for VVD according to this source. (I'd appreciate it if any one else has saw it and can remember his name)

I know Liverpool can't bid officially because of the circus in the summer.
So they have to wait for other parties to get involved to then make an official bid without looking like the bad guy (again)?
So this guy his "leaked" we've made a bid, cause a social media storm to instise City to bid?
But VVD has to wait for us to then bid as he said he only wants us?

I may be clutching at straws and I apologise if this sort if stuff annoys you.
I'm happy either way if we strengthen the keeper. Even if that's the only signing and then wait till the summer with couts in toe, then let me go in the summer and Lamar come in with Kieta.

{Ed002's Note - Plenty of transfers have already been agreed. Liverpool fans tell me about tales of the club already making a dozen or so signings this winter. It is going to be a blast as the side thrusts toward the top of the table in the coming months. It doesn’t annoy me but a quick check of the search engine should give you the answer you want.}

My apologies Ed.
I browsed the Liverpool pages and city pages last night but couldn't find anything suggesting which team he'll most liekly end up. I'll double check. Thanks again. Merry Christmas.

I honestly cannot see him moving in January, City do not need a centre half and can wait to pick whoever impresses at the world cup like Chelsea and Man U. I can see him moving on next summer at a much lower fee with the likes of us, Arsenal or Spurs being interested. Nothing to see here this transfer window.

City will off £60m up front in one go, which Southampton will accept.

Mr Dennis - City will win the EPL this season with or without VVD - the question is what do they need to win the CL? VVD is not the answer IMHO and 60m on him would mean Pep is an idiot which he is not.

They are in the market for a centre half, they are well known to have watched van Dijk and they have the money. We ballsed it up in the summer and when he turns out for them in January we have ourselves to blame. We still need a centre back and it’s important that we don’t waste money on below average players like Gibson, Mee Etc.

Telegraph reporting city are in discussion with saints over VVD.

We did balls up in the summer an we only have ourselves to blame for that. Unfortunately with the current stupid prices being asking for we will have to pay over the odds for a decent proven centre half an other clubs know we will pay because we are desperate.

I think it is naive of us to think of the current market as containing stupid prices. They haven't just being created out of nothing. The money in the game now means that it is unlikely that we will ever see the prices of yesteryear. Transfer fees for the likes of Figo, Zidane, Buffon and Crespo were all considered ridiculous but now that money gets you Raheem Sterling. Football is changing in England and we have to adapt to kick on from where we have got ourselves. 5 english teams in the Champions league knockout phase is ridiculous but its only the beginning. Don't be surprised if we see a period of english dominance in Europe for years to come. (Excluding the national side, they will be forever hopeless)

If Van dijk upgrades our defence i don't care how much he will costs the problem is signing someone who doesn't improve our defence no matter his cost.

eds thank you for all your hard work and all the best. Also we have a Brazilian boy called Allan who keeps going out on loan because of work permits. Do you think he will be good enough to play for LFC or just another lost cause. Plus you keep telling people to try the search engine for players. Tell this old timer how.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I very much doubt he has a future with Liverpool I am afraid.}

25 Dec 2017 20:34:47
Is that cos of ability or work permit.

{Ed002's Note - He would need a case for an exemption to be agreed for a WP, and I very much doubt he is in the plans.}

It's late and I understand if you don't want to answer Ed2. But I have a question and it's been bugging me for some time now, why is it, hardly none of our youngsters get their chance? I don;t understand it, we have had some top quality youngsters the past few years and we still do yet the vast majority of them don't seem to get their chances with us? I don't understand why, I'd love to know your opinion about why they aren't getting their chances?

Agree2 Disagree4

{Ed002's Note - It is not a Liverpool thing. Thing of a pyramid of Ferrero Rocher and the one at the top is the first team and the layer at the bottom is the Under 16s or whatever. Year on year the number that are “potentials” first team squad players diminishes, there are always a bunch of players but the “cream” of those is numerically reducing and some will be let go and have good careers with other sides, some will even make it with PL sides - and some will like the other Ed’s end up as humble chimney sweeps and florists. This is true at the highest tiers of football across Europe, even considering the great youth set ups at Ajax and the like. Not a Liverpool problem but perhaps a constraint - as the club are yet to create a system that facilitates the most likely of the youngsters to have the club produce a development plan toward making it at the highest level. At Liverpool a few make it through to get their shot at the first team. Less so at some sides and more so at others. A fix is needed long term. Great question. Thanks.}

We are friends with a family in Madrid whose son started with the Real Madrid academy aged 6 and he's still there aged 14. So he's doing well but as they say the photo of the kids who started together gets smaller each year.

Ultimately though isn't that the natural process of an academy. You start with who shows potential at 7 or 8. Then some of those will prove to not be as good as first seemed. You follow that through the ages some will have attitude weaknesses, some will have been early developers physically who look better to start with, you'll find other kids who are later developers who come through then. Plus in order to run a team in each age group you need a full squad, but that doesn't mean they are all up to scratch just that they are the best you can find to support the few really good ones. Ultimately why would you want to have a load of players come through each year. That would mean constant change and disruption. I would guess most clubs would settles for 1 or 2 from each batch being up to squad standard and making a bit of money back on a few others. I would think or hope that a lot of the coaches who have worked with them would just be happy to see the lads they rate have a career somewhere. Being paid to play at any level is still on the top 5% or so. the one that frustrates me is when a manager comes in from abroad and starts stacking the proper academy, the 16-18 level, with kids from their own country or one they have worked in a lot and give the impression they haven't been in the door 5 seconds and were always planning on doing it. Anyway that's just my opinion.

Ed002 reports about vvd in papers and Internet sites that we putting in a payment structure for him to come to liverpool please tell me it's all rubbish or is there anything in it.

Its been said a few times over the last few days mate. Not sure were the rumours came from but I would take little notice of them. Ed002 hasn't confirmed it either, And I am sure he would be aware by now if there was something in it.

Hang on a minute you were all in favour of Vvd in the summer he was the best thing since Warburton sliced bread an now he's a waste of space. Did you watch loveren against spurs?
Vvd doesn't want to be at Southampton hence his drop in form I really think he'd do well for us especially at the set piece.

Yeah not good enough for Liverpool but good enough for mancity or Chelsea? lads get a grip, our cbs are atrocious, capable of doing well for a while but let you down when needed, sooner their gone the better,

I think people are looking at style, systems and existing players not just who else is interested. Who said anything about Chelsea wanting him by the way? Good enough fir Cuty who were prepared to consider a united reject is hardly a ringing endorsement. And most of this is almost certainly lazy journos trying to stir up a but of transfer speculation with rehashed stories that no one can prove or disprove so that they can sell more copies. It will get worse over the bext 5 weeks.
