Hello Ed002. Getting away from all the uncertainty surrounding Rodgers and the disappointment prevalent over LFC, I was hoping to pick your brain on the talented young players coming along in world football. Who are the young players in Europe or in South America who are well thought of and big things expected off them? Thanks in advance for any answer you can provide.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Off the top of my head, In South America the highest profile youngsters attracting the attention of major European sides are Gabriel (Santos), Emanuel Mammana and Balanta (both of River Plate), Douglas Coutinho (Atletico Paranaese) and Martin Astina & Joaquin Ibanez (both Lanus).

In Europe, Chelsea has Manea, Nathan, Kenedy, Boga and Traore. Monaco have snapped up Gabriel Boschilia from Sao Paulo, Spurs the well thought of Dele Alli, Real Madrid both Lucas Silva and Odegaard, and Barcelona Lee (although he cost them a transfer ban). The old Eastern Bloc countries are being scoured for players right now with certain sides building working relationships with clubs out there. Chelsea has already taken Manea from Viitorul Constanta in Romania. Ante Coric (of Dinamo Zagreb) is attracting a lot of attention. In Italy Franck Kessie, Simone Scuffet, Giuseppe Scalera, Valmir Berisha and Giuseppe Pezzella are building reputations for themselves. In Spain, Santi Mina and Marcos Asenio are expected to make it at the highest level. Ajax and PSV have a number of youngsters who will move on to bigger and better things. In Portugal Talisca and Neves remain very well thought of. In France Marquinos looks to be heading for success.

A special mention goes to Mosquito (who has screwed up a promising career and rebuilding it in Spain with Llagostera - but something is going on in the backgound with another club).

Thanks for the excellent response Ed002. I remember some of them from the international youth tournaments. Balanta, Gabigol, Nathan, Kenedy, Alli, Berisah, Scuffet, Scalera, Mosquito, Talisca and Marquinos all I have heard off or seen.

Even though he maybe a little older, Joao Mario at Sporting looks an excellent player.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Actually Sporting priced Joao Mario out of a move to Napoli in the summer.

And I forgot Neves who also plays in Portugal - he could potentially make a move to England in January.}

Is the other Barcelona youngest they signed still well thought of, halilovic? Can't remember if it was him or odegaard I read was quite arrogant and disruptive in one of the b teams?

Mosquito, what a name for a song and headline writers, buy him.

Halilovic plays for Barcelona, while Odegaard plays for Real. Angel Correa looks a top talent, and it is nice to see him coming back from that operation and now starting t play in the La Liga. I agree that Gabigol looks a special player too.

Hey Ed, a break from the BR saga.

Is there interest in Demerai gray of Birmingham? I read he has some clause and Liverpool are waiting to snap, you know that sort of thing. Figured I'd check with you first. I know nothing of the kid.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Bournemouth have been trying to buy Birmingham's Demarai Gray since January 2015 and have several bids rejected. They will return before January to try again. Leicester, Arsenal and Liverpool have also enquired after the player.}

According to Graham Beecroft, TalkSh.te's Merseyside football correspondent, Rogers is gone. He understands the decision was made before the game last night and the only thing that will stop it happening now is if their No. 1 target (he thinks Ancelotti) says no.
Don't shoot the messenger. .

What does the Eds make of Mr Beehives comments please?,

{Ed023's Note - Easy publicity for his radio station to exploit the Liverpool fans who are desperate to hear that kind of rumour. I'm not saying he's wrong but best to take it with a pinch of salt}

Me too Pete. I don't look forward to going the match these days. No spark, no excitement, no decent football, no atmosphere, no grit, no passion, no system, nothing/nada/zilch. .
I'll support this club until my dying breath as I always have but we are no further forward than we were when he arrived masked only by one season of King Luis dragging us to dizzy heights. .

Even if Liverpool didn't land Ancelotti, You'd think Rodgers would just resign? Why continue on when your boss is trying to kick you out? What's the point? Regardless of money, that would be massively demotivating.

Nick, you said it right there in your last sentence "regardless of money". Unfortunately, in the game these days, most people can't disregard money - I'm sure Rodgers will get more money if he's sacked than if he resigns.

Rodgers resign. !!! Not in a million years! The same man watched his second in command and first team coach get the elbow and still had the nerve to stay. I honestly believe he thinks he's the right man!! He's a charlatan and every painful game that goes by just proves it more. Sorry for the rant.

BR is clearly hanging around for his substantial payoff. 8/9 million! YNWA

Agree4 Disagree0

24 Sep 2015 15:58:42
Would be the best 8-9 million we've spent in 3 years. Coutinho comes close but for me, Rodgers pay off would take the crown.

24 Sep 2015 19:32:19
If he resigns he loses his pay off and everyone will know his hand was forced anyway, he will probably have to be released

Well you've got a point.

Should have payed him off and be shot of him in the summer instead of prolonging the inevitable and keeping him, which has led to useless uncertainty

If rumours are true or not, don't expect any talk from FSG. Red Sox are in their 'business side' of the season.

Actually the Sox aren't making the playoffs and free agency doesn't start for awhile. If they were smart ( I believe they are) then their attention is on LFC

25 Sep 2015 02:40:28
He said FSG are patient, using their faith in the manager of a struggling Sox team as an example. that same manager won them a world series 2 years ago in a much more competitive league. Of course they're patient. FSG's work at Red Sox is very impressive.

25 Sep 2015 08:16:53
They've also been pretty brutal in changing managers at The Sox; I think this is their 4th in their time?

Gary Mac sent out by BR to do the post-match presser. I don't think that you hide away from the press if you're confident about your future.
