Hey eds, I haven't heard anything about goalies froa while, is it still the same interest with Mignolet and Ochoa or has anyone else come in? And I hear that there all these interested parties around Dede. The likes of juventus, manchester united and much more. Do you think any will make an offer and even if we are interested, do we even have a chance? Thanks {Ed002's Note - Mignolet is the player there seems to be interest in. The Liverpool interest predates Rodgers and goes back to last summer and the players Caniggia was looking at. There might be renewed interest and I will see what I can find out. Manchester United, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Fiorentina, Liverpool, Benfica and Roma have shown an interest in Vasco's Dede over the past couple of years. Recently AC Milan, Barcelona, Juventus, Anzhi, Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been keeping a watching brief on the player in the months leading up to the end of the Brazilian season. A bid has been made by Corinthians although I understand it is not a destination the player would consider right now and another by AC Milan in January - but they were told firmly that he was not for sale in January. Benfica and Anzhi have both spoken with Vasco since January to see if a deal could be struck in the summer and it seems that is very likely with the long-term interest of Manchester United may be seen once more but their focus is now on Garay.}

Would there be any chance or interest of either Matuidi, Dzsudzak or Strootman? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool tried for Dzsudzak on loan in January. I expect they will continue to look for a wide palyer. The others no.}

I may be a loan voice but I still think Coates could go on to be a great centre back and would love to see him stay (looks unlikely).
Either to partner him or replace him I would certainly be looking at either of the 2 Schalke centre backs {Ed002's Note - That is not going to happen neither Papadopoulos nor Howedes will be moving to Liverpool this summer.}

Personally I don't think he can make it in the Premier League as he seriously lacks the pace and mobility required. Other players have managed to overcome this with their reading of the game but when you have a young centre back like Coates pace has to be a pre requisite. I think a return to South America or a slower tempo league in Europe would be the best solution for the club and the player.

I was actually thinking of Matip ;)

Matip his heavily linked with arsenal and spurs!

Chris I agree with you about coates, I watched him on his debut for uraguay and thought who is this guy, I hope Liverpool sign him, we did and he has not been used, he is better than agger and skertal, he is young and has not played much or on a consistant basis for us, instead BR wants rid of him without giving him a chance, I just hope he gets his chance and BR changes his mind, his interception rate is up there with the best, all the Liverpool players have found it difficut to adjust to BRs new system, the same will go for coates, I say give the lad a chance or send him out on loan but don't sell him because I believe he will become a top defender and to lose him would be criminal

Ed02 has mentioned that Liverpool have spoken to Andreas Weimann's agent about a move.
I personally think if Villa were relegated it could prove a shrewd bit of business especially since his contract ends in 2014.
He could certainly play RW if we require someone more attack minded than Downing.
Just my thoughts.
Thanks

Couldn't agree more Puzzled Red.
Weimenn could potentially replace Downing and then go & get a first choice winger one of Sanchez or Ben Arfa would be great. {Ed002's Note - If Liverpool buy Weimann then I think that will be it for forwards unless Suarez leaves. The focus is very clearly on the defence.}

Is he going to get us champions league? Are sterling and ibe going to be better? No and probably yes. There are better options such mertens Ben arfa etc.

But Ed couldn't it be such that Downing is sold and Weimenn replaces him for virtually the same money (say 5 mil) and then from the Carroll money we get Ben Arfa (if we are lucky).
But really think if what u say is true and Barca may reluctantly accept Inter's loan to buy offer for Sanchez we should try to do the same. Surely its the fee that is causing us problems and not Sanchez's wages? {Ed002's Note - Transfers really don't work like that. I don't see any link between interest in Weimann and what happens to Downing. I don't see any interest from Ben Arfa in moving to Liverpool. Liverpool are not going to look to strike any sort of deal for Sanchez simply because Inter has an interest.}

I have had high hopes for Andreas Weimann at Aston Villa, believing him to be a great prospect for them, and good luck to them.

But, I haven't seen Weimann show a clinical edge to his game at all this season, I do not think he would improve our squad to be honest, he might just be another body we do not really need.

This post shows how far our expectations have been dragged down, are there better players than this player out there. yes ther is and plenty of our fans have fell for the low expectations of the owners and BR, I remember when we were up there with the best and nearly every player would have come to us, besides the ownership problems and the manager problems, we should still expect better players, than weimann, downing and carrol what's happend to the expectations of good players for our club no matter who the manager is or the owners are

Hi Eds,

any interest in Mauro Icardi from us?

thanks {Ed002's Note - Sampdoria's Mauro Icardi has been subject to interest from Monaco, Chelsea, Napoli, Fluminense, Liverpool and Manchester City. However, it looks like the player's preferred move to Inter beckons for the summer if they can put a proposal together that suits Sampdoria - and that will include some part ownership type transactions. Perhaps Napoli will push again.}

Hey eds, do we actually have any interest in Weimann? Cheers. {Ed002's Note - Putting aside from an offer from Young Boys that was turned down in the summer, there has been a little recent interest in Andreas Weimann from Dortmund Inter Milan who see him as a cheaper alternative to their planned loan-to-buy deal for Sanchez. Both Liverpool and Hamburg have spoken to his agent regarding his availability. Aston Villa will continue to seek a new deal.}

24 Mar 2013 14:28:47
Ed002 do you know the response Liverpool and hamburg got over his availability? {Ed002's Note - I don't but given that his client has not agreed a new deal at Aston Villa just yet, I would very much expect the agent to encourage the clubs to make an approach to Aston Villa.}

Hey eds, Any interest in Garay or Sakho? {Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Barcelona have made interest known in Garay following Chelsea holding talks about the player. I understand any move will be influenced by cost, and interestingly what happens with another player.

Arsenal and Lyon have sustained interest in Sakho and there is growing interest from Newcastle, Inter Milan, Manchester City and possible interest lingering interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. PSG are not keen on selling but I think there is a good chance of a summer move as we move toward some significant changes at a number of clubs.}

Dear Eds
Can I just clarify something, to the best of your substantial collective knowedge has LFC any pre contract agreements with anyone?
Therefore everything discussed is speculation/rumour/paper talk/bull**it.
TBH I'm trying to pace myself, there is a long way to go until the end of August.

JFT96 {Ed002's Note - There are no pre-contract agreements at this time.}

What do the club think about what Luis Suarez has said? Why have Branchini, Caceres, Cavani and Lugano all spoken to the press about Luis Suarez? Why did the Ed say that Pavel Nedved was involved? Luis Suarez said that the press twisted his words and that should be good enough for us.

Guildford Red {Ed002's Note - (1) I would imagine the club thinks the same as they always do when Suarez comes out with dumb ass comments in the press - which will be why can't he do what he been told to do on numerous occasions and not discuss such matters. (2) Branchini is an entirely separate matter to what the players have said - and it seems likely that they would have been encouraged by a third party to say what they have to the press given that between them they manage to discuss three other clubs and imply he will leave at the end of next season if Liverpool fail to make the Champions League. (3) Like Branchini, the situation with Nedved is a separate issue.}

I would hate to see him go, but having said that, if he does go, I trust Rodgers to use the money in a good way. We are not a one men team, let's not act like one.
Aldo

It's a bit naive to believe all you read in the press and even more naive to believe that the Luis Suarez you see on the pitch has anything to do with the Luis Suarez you see off the pitch.
Mohammed Ali one of my all time heroes was two different people, the one in the ring and the one out of the ring.
Luis Suarez is more intelligent than the average footballer and most definitely British footballers.

24 Mar 2013 16:11:04
so kid is he even more intelligent than beckham lol

Dont worry man if he goes we will get 40-50 mill and we will re invest.

We are not a one man team and no player is bigger than the club.

He is a class act though and when I saw what he did when he left Ajax he is a good guy, on the pitch with a microphone thanking the fans and signing footballS kicking them into the crowd, it is on youtube I hope he will do the same here. Torres should of done this. YNWA.
