Hi ed's, I live in Blackpool and share friends with Charlie Adams and I can tell you Liverpool is his third choice (thank god) Manchester United is the club he supports and spurs is his fianc s favoured destination. We don't need him he ain't good enough for the mighty reds let the dirty reds or spurs have him.

We should give them toffees 15 mil for baines

Charlie Adam News: A family friend who's an everton fan is formally of the Blackpool backroom staff keeps in touch with the club's groundsman and he has apparently told him that his move to Liverpool is most definately in the bag as personal terms and such have been agreed only the fee hasn't as Oyston is being an ignorant d**khead.
Stop the worryin though and get down the bookies to see what price you get, Adam is on his way & to those doubting him just look at him at Blackpool last season, some of his passes are sublime and with somebody like suarez making runs then no doubt he will be doing the same thing for us. In KK we trust YNWA

Just got the news from a source in Sevilla, Spain that we are linked with winger Jesus Navas, hes quality and Sevilla are letting him go at 25 euros

Wow, seems like scoop of the millenium to me. Heck, for 25 euros, I'd even pack his bags :-)

23 Jun 2011 22:55:59
Liverpool will sign Gael clichy he is the number 1 target and arsenal will sell for the right price term will be agreed easily as Gael wants the move because of the chance of silver were at Liverpool compared to arsenal JG

Man utd now target Mata after getting Young. Whats going on here? Are Man utd going to try sign every player LFC target.
You would think they would be satisified after signing Young.

My sources from Spain have infromed me that the Mata deal has stalled and the Valencia friendly has been organised for Ever Banega. Whats your take on this Eds? {Ed009's Note - I have heard nothing of the sort I'm afraid.}

23 Jun 2011 22:30:44
Hi ed, heard a few rumours some time ago about us being interested in Afellay because of him not getting as much regular football as he'd like at Barca, is there any chance we could sign him or has this interest cooled if it was in fact interest at all?

Cheers {Ed009's Note - he is one of these players who we have always been linked with for years without actually showing any concrete interest in. He is definitely available for the right price though and would make a good signing. More likely is that he will move to Arsenal as a makeweight for the potential Cesc transfer.}

23 Jun 2011 22:05:27
Hey Ed, what are the chances out of 10 for these players to sign:

Juan Mata
Stewart Downing
Dimitri Payet
Charlie Adam
Gael Clichy
Scott Dann
Connor Wickham
Arda Turan
Marc Albrighton ? {Ed009's Note - 4, 6, 4, 7, 2, 4, 5, 4, 1.}

Maya deal looking doubtful. Spanish paper/website Marca reporting Barca have switched priorities to Rossi and Mata now that Sanchez deal has stalled (Jeffren won't play in Italy but may go to Villareal as part of Rossi deal)

Ed do you know what fee Atleti were gonna pay for Turan? I would love to see him in a red shirt.

Kop Chris {Ed002's Note - I don't actually, it never gets mentioned but if Atletico can afford him I am sure Liverpool can. It has to be lack of interest.}

Whomever started this di maria rumour is sorely mistaken. Di marias gripe is that he wants more money he does not want to leave and madrid do not want to let him go. Mourinho is a fan of di maria.

As I've said lots of times madrid will consider offers for....

Diarra, kaka, benzema, albiol and alonso. In that order.

can you tell me why mata would want to join up with other big clubs looking him who can offer him champions league, even the uefa, what can we offer him when the team is in transition, tough player like thats why i think downing, enrique are the players we will get, they might not be the best but they are far better than what we have.

23 Jun 2011 21:31:20
Hi Eds, or in fact any others who may have the answer to this question...
Does anyone know what is currently happening with insua? I always thought he had potential, and whilst he currently isn't as good as clichy, enrique and the rest, surely he has the potential to become their equal given time, or perhaps I'm missing something, does he have a bad attitude, poor training ethic, etc?
It just seems odd to me that he's totally forgotten.

Arda Turan to liverpool.He wants to play for us, we need a player for that position and for £10-£13 million it seems like a good bit of business.

I'm a life long Liverpool supporter from Australia and it makes me sick to read about some of the players we are linked with. While we are supposedly tryin' to buy players like Downing, Adam & Roux, teams like scum united, chelsea, arsenal and man city are buying expensive but quality players. By doing this we will never make ground on them. We should be buying players like Sanchez, Pastore & Mata coz we actually need them!

---------------------------------------------------

Supporters support, they don't demand. Neither do the majority of the posters here know better than the Liverpool management. However, we are involved in trying to sign several high profile players at the moment. Whether we sign them or not depends on several key factors, not least of all what the player actually wants. As much as you might like a player they may not want to play for us and if that's the case we'd be better off not spending the money.

I feel I need to add a rumour...

We may well sign someone from Spain, but the way things are panning out it might not be who you'd expect.

We also may have some pleasant surprises instore regarding the backroom staff.

Hi guys, I wrote a post last night stating that I was worried we were losing momentum in the transfer market and that the end of season excitement for me had waned. However, I am a little more upbeat after being informed that Dalglish has spoken to McCleish today again regarding Downing, a fee is close to being agreed. Also a tip off that Cole may be going to Villa Park, this would be a great move if true.

Dear Ed.

Do you think it's better to sign players who are passionate about the club like Turan & Dann or players who are maybe better, but not fans, like Mata & Sakho?

My opinion is that the players who love the club will always do their very best and may well improve by 10-20% because off this, rather than players who are maybe only thinking of themselves, of course they are professionals and may well fall in love with the club, but..?

dmedly {Ed002's Note - Sadly it is all rather more complex than that. Having a player that supports the club is a great bonus, the key word being bonus. But the amount of money involved in transfers makes it big business at the higher end of the market. A Chesterfield supporting player would likely still go to Liverpool should the opportunity arrive.}

Hope this is true.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is keeping a close eye on the situation at Real Madrid with regards to the future of winger Angel Di Maria.

Di Maria enjoyed a successful debut season at the Bernabeu, however according to reports in Marca, he has infuriated Real Madrid bosses by going public about wanting a pay rise at the club.

The 23-year-old who is currently on duty with the Argentina national side ahead of the Copa America tournament, was heavily linked with a move to the Premiership last summer with Manchester United, but he decided to join Jose Mourhino at Real Madrid for £20million.

Whilst on international duty, Di Maria said: "I'm anxiously waiting for the renewal. I was told upon arrival that if I did well in the first year, I was going to improve my contract. I am nervous about waiting for this."

It is believed the Spanish giants will listen to offers for Di Maria if they are able to sign Brazilian star Neymar, who is on the verge of agreeing at deal in the Spanish capital.

That has opened the door for Reds manager Dalglish to make an offer. Liverpool are desperate to acquire a natural winger, having lost out to rivals Manchester United for the signature of Ashley Young.

Both Dalglish and Liverpool's director of football Damien Comoilli feel Di Maria will be the perfect solution in their quest to find some natural width, and feel he will be able to create chances for strikers Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, as well as chipping in with goals himself.

During his first season at Real Madrid, Di Maria made 53 appearances in all competitions and scored nine goals while proving 20 assists.

I for one hope it is not true. Yes he is a good player, but it is all about money for Di Maria. We want people to play for the shirt, not because we offer ridiculous wages. I also can't see Di Maria 'digging in' on a cold, wet January night, where as those who play for the shirt will undoubtably do so. Get Turan in as his commitment to LFC is well publicised!

ed what do u think (out of ten are the chances of us signing the following)... downing wickham di maria clichy {Ed009's Note - 6, 4, 1, 2.}

Ed, just wondering why so low for Wickham, seems higher than that to me, but would appreciate your opinion, sorry if you have stated it before, just seems low {Ed002's Note - I have not contemplated a score but rather think he could be heading to Sunderland myself. But what do I know.}

23 Jun 2011 20:34:39
Hey ED how much did it cost for real madrid to take ANGEL DI MARIA to the bernabeu?cause i fink it highly unlighty that we would go for him with the transfer fee it would cost plus his wages!!
Alternatives to ANGEL DI MARIA and that would be
ERIK LAMELA LOL

I have posted a number of times with regular updates on player situations due to some well placed sources. I last suggested the signings of Adam and Wickham would be likely to be completed in the next two weeks with possibility Downing to sign.

The latest update I have received suggests that talks are at an advanced stage for both Adam and Downing with some progress to be made in the Wickham deal.

We are close to agreeing a fee for Adam with the likelihood of a cash advance on a fee of £8.5m with add-ons taking it to £10.5m. There was a suggestion this could be agreed at some point during the weekend with medical likely to take place next week.

We are in talks with Villa about Downing but have not agreed a fee as yet. We have offered £15m and they want £20m with a comprimise likely at £15m +3m add-ons based on performance. My source suggested there is still a lot of negotiation to be done and that Villa are not keen to lose both Young and Downing in the same window. Although Downing has made it clear he wishes to move to Anfield. He will wait for a comprimise to be met by the clubs but will hand in a transfer request if the clubs can't agree a fee.

Ipswich are still trying to auction Wickham and thus Liverpool have made the offer of £6m plus player loan which was rejected. Liverpool are biding their time, waiting for Ipswich to come back to them with a more suitable valuation. Wickham has also indicated to Ipswich that he is keen on a move to Anfield.

I will try to keep everyone updated but a lot of deals can change quickly and not all information can be released (so not to jeopardise transfers).

p.s. My source suggested there is a really big transfer in the pipline for Liverpool with a potential fee in excess of £35m. His name has been mentioned before.

In Europe, I am a Liverpool supporter, so if I go to play in Europe, I would like to play for them." said by Arda Turan {Ed009's Note - if we signed Arda I'd be overjoyed. Casting aside his undeniable ability, he wants to play for Liverpool almost as much as I do. For that reason alone I'd buy the player's shirt. I just feel Kenny is questioning his ability to adapt physically, but I hope he can look past it more than anything.}

Hello Ed's

thought id share what ive heard today about Mr Meireles. Tottenham could be set to make a suprise move for the midfielder if they miss out on Scott Parker. There wont be any exchange of players it would simply be a cash with possible installments involved. Newcastle may also show their hand regarding a transfer for Joe Cole, 'might' be somethign to keep your eye on over the next few weeks. Also i hear these names being branded about with Adam and Downing the most familiar. I got a feeling we are working on players which havent been published as often. I still think there is a chance with Arda Turan to be honest guys. Aparently the move has stalled or something.. am i correct ed's or..? Well anyways, i think to expect the unexpected is a fair evaluation on how the tranbsfer window coudl pan out for us.

Happy rumouring,

Adzii {Ed009's Note - the move with Atletico looked definite for a long time, but it has dragged on incredibly, which leads to the natural conclusion that there may be some more legs in the transfer. I don't doubt he would love a move to us and may well be holding out for a transfer attempt, which I believe we would be foolish not to make. The chances increase by the day.}

23 Jun 2011 18:43:38
Ok ed's what are the chances of Juan Mata signing for LFC, and also I don't know if your allowed to answer this, but where do you get your info from? please post and answer {Ed009's Note - the editors all have different sources, and we can't tell you these things if we want to receive any more information in the future. I would give Mata a 4/10 - his father is impressed with our ambition and has consistently emphasised that Mata doesn't care about immediate Champions League football. At the same time there is an awful lot of competition and fine performances at the U-21's won't have helped us one bit.}

23 Jun 2011 18:29:33
Liverpool have just faxed their final offer to Blackpool for Charlie Adam, it's a £9mil money upfront cash offer. With no Add ons. I believe we are the only club willing to pay all cash upfront, so hopefully this will be enought to ensure this deal actually happens. My friend is one of many secretarys within Liverpool football club and is on good speaking terms with a couple of first team players. I've just been speaking to him for the past half hour on the phone and the stuff he has told me makes for a bright future. He reckons Wickham deal will be tied up soon and that Liverpool will make another attempt to sign Pedro Leon.

Buddy love

ed has arda turan agreed a move to madrid yet or is there the slighest possiblity we could get him if kennys kept it hush hush so to speak.DORSET RED {Ed009's Note - Turan's transfer to Atletico has been oddly protracted, and he seems to be holding back from the move somewhat. I'd imagine he still wants the move here and whilst it seems unlikely Kenny could of course be making an effort in secret to sign the player.}

With respect to everyone but I can't imagine Pepe Reina agreeing to stay if Kenny and Damian Commoli said we would be signing Henderson, Dann, Wickham, Adam and Downing during the summer. I can only see something quite big happening before September 1. If not I just hope we are not in a situation in the final week of August where Reina looks to move like our former number 9 did in the final days of January meaning we had to pay over the odds to get a replacement.
------------------------------------------
Reina believes in the club and Dalglish Torres was glory hungry but Reina will know that Kenny is just thinking of the club and club alone.
-------------------------------------------
I still believe something big may happen in July and August.

Love the site thanks eds. I haven't submitted a post in a long while but could not help myself this time. To all those giving Downing jip, he was villas player of the season, he may not be the quickest, but can find a half yard and stick the ball on carrolls head. This type of player is the exact type we need. With kk at the helm last year we had the second best form in the league behind chelsea. So we have a decent team in need of a bit of strength. The international window opens 1st, lets see what we do. I for one am optimistic for the coming season.

Liverpool want Angel Di Maria He Has Spoken That He Wants A Pay Rise And That Has Alerted Kenny Dalglish As Him And Damien Comolli See Him As A Perfect Soultion To Our Winger Problem (Source Sportsvibe)If We Are Paying Jovanovic 120,000 a week That Is What Di Maria Is On Then Surely We Could Give Di Maria His Pay Rise

Forgive me if this sounds stupid but are we actually paying jova 120,000 a week? After the U21s I'm starting to wonder why Henderson was worth the £16-20 mil we paid but after hearing that about jovas wages its making me think we are lacking some business brains at our beloved club. We seem to be linked with a lot of rubbish that we dont need and out of all the rumours this summer I'd only like to see Clichy and Mata sign and maybe Dann. we seem to be risking a lot of players that have potential rather than solid talent.

There has got to be a big signing because we definately need one and I hope to god its Mata the lad is class. the valencia friendly seems to point to this as well.

Question for ed 002.

Heard earlier tonight that both milan clubs had been asked by chelsea if they were interested in torres as villas boas is looking to replace torres with falcao. My source is pretty well connected in milan but this seems crazy to me.

Dear LFC Fans
From following this site every day for the past year it brightens up my day with some really funny comments about players and their sources, this website should be used for what it is a rumours site and to have a good old laugh at instead of slating people for using their imaginations.

My Ins this summer are:-

Adam, Downing, Dann, Clichy and i wouldnt be suprised if we had a look at Forlan. What do you think eds?
Also outs will be Cole, Jova, konchesky and probably some loan deals for Pacheco and Shelvey who both still have a great future at the club. Steveo

23 Jun 2011 17:03:15
Just rumours that are being reported today...
Raul Merieles is leaving to Inter Milan, as long as we get a profit on the 12/14million we spent
Joe Cole is probz gonna go to Fulham as Martin Jol is looking for some experience..
And Aquaman to Roma
aswell as the fringe players such as Jovanavic, Maxi etc
This should raise enough money for the King and the frog to go and buy some "quality" players....the term quality is relative to our clubs current position, so the likes of Downing and Adam, maybe all we can get this summer, hopefully this "marquee" signing everyone is talking about will end up coming but that cant be confirmed. The future looks bright, and the aim should be top 4, bcos without that it is harder to get the top players without giving them other incentives such as BIG BIG WAGES.
Just my thoughts on whats going around atm
please post

Transfer potentials...

GK: Doni - 1.5m (Havent heard a lot about this recently)
LB: Clichy - 7-8m (Wants move, could happen within next week)
CB: Zapata or Dann 14m, 12m respectively (Both heavily linked, could see one of these happening)
RW & LW: Downing and Cazorla - Both 15m (Downing wants move, Reina trying to convince Cazorla to join, both likely candidates)
ST: Wickham - 10m (Wants to join, could happen very soon)

Why do you ed's keep defending our mighty club buying Downing!!! He's sh@£e he makes kuyt look like yousain bolt. I thought the idea of bringing new players in where to help us challenge for a top 4 spot, can you imagine downing getting into any of the teams who finished above us last season? If we've got a limited budget for gods sake spend big and spend wisely on our weekness's and stop thinking of squad strengthening our kids can help out if we get injurys it's notblike we've got European football.

Buy a world class left back, right winger, left winger and that'll do for me.

ED whats the latest on Aquilani? All of a sudden everything has gone quiet with him i personally think why waste 10mil on Adam, give Aquaman another go, i was watching 'goal rush 2010' on LFCTV before and i didnt realise the amount of goals he had an involvment in! Surly hes worth another shot, hes done well to keep fit for Juve this season and got a call up to the Italy squad cause of it, save 10mil from Adam, use Aquilani and put that 10mil to better use, say to buy Mata or Adam Johnson!
Also do you know when the team is due back from pre season training to start? I was watching the U17 match last night (england v canada) really hope Sterling is taken over to Asia and given a chance he looks something special recon he could break through this season? {Ed002's Note - I don't know about pre-season, but Liverpool continue to try and unload Aquilani via his agent doing the leg work.}

Hi Ed's, love the site. Just a quick question regarding a few rumours I came across on this site y'day, Theo Walcott coming to Liverpool?
As much as I think he would be great down our right, i'm assuming this is just pure speculation as I can't see Arsene letting him go?

Ed, it's obvious ngog can cut the mustard and will be shipped out - you think we will go for 1 more (wickham) and kuyt. Assuming we get some first choice wingers!

Have you heard anymore about micah Richards after our interest in Jan?? Personally think he would br awesome - bloke can play the ball on the deck and fearless in aerial contests.

Just heard from a good source that KK's top targets were Downing and Adam, but since Man U signed Jones and now Young who were also both prime targets. They have turned their
attentions to Shaqiri and Mata, who they see as more influential players. They are trying to prolong talks with Downing, Adam and other targets until they know the outcome after U21's tournament.

Liverpool appear set to miss out on Lucas Marcelinho after the player's staggering release fee was revealed. The Sao Paulo starlet has been earning rave reviews in south America over the past year, earning senior international recognition new manager Mano Menezes.

Kenny Dalglish has reportedly had scouts tracking the 18-year-old's progress at the Morumbi Stadium, with Brazilian website Lance!Net claiming Liverpool were preparing a 9 million offer for the player.

However, a 79 million buyout clause in the player's contact, according to Live4Liverpool, has all but ended the interest of Liverpool in the player.

Sao Paulo are unwilling to let another youngster leave the club club this summer following the exit of Lucas Piazon to Chelsea, ending the chances of other suitors such as AC Milan, Inter Milan and Villarreal, unless they meet the huge fee of course.

Dalglish is believed to be in the market for an attacking midfielder at Anfield this summer, with a left back, winger and striker also thought to be on the Liverpool agenda.

After securing the services of Jordan Henderson for a reported £20 million a fortnight ago, the Scot has clearly set his sights on young talent in an effort to build a Liverpool team for the future.

Alongside Damien Comolli, director of football at Liverpool, the pair have been working together in bringing targets to Merseyside, although Marcelinho will not be joining the other new signings at the club this summer.

re:wingers, whoever comes in will always be compared to heighway, barnes, mcmanaman. There is nobody as good as any of these three, unless you pay top dollar e.g. 30 mil plus, the only one who is proven in the premiership and at international level is Robben and he aint leaving Bayern anytime soon. A winger needs to be a game changer as well as a team player and Robben can play off either wing. The closest thing here is Adam Johnson and i would rather the money being earmarked for Downing used in an effort to get him especially as city are now sniffing around Sanchez. DC needs to do whatever he can to de-stabilise his relationship at city and make lfc a more attractive proposition. He would slot straight into the first team either on the wings of a 4-4-2 or on the left side of a fluid 4-3-3.

I am afraid City is not selling A.Johnson.

At the moment Liverpool are not matching the asking price but hopefully that will change.

Another day in the Liverpool rumour page and here in the wilderness Notice what this fan does here
1/ he says Ed will not know this, thats right the person with the connections has less of an idea than the fat bloke at a computer.
2/ Liverpool have made an approach, Indicating not only does he know more but that he knows details of an approach
3/ He then says Liverpool are not matching the asking price and Basle dont want to sell,
Indicating Liverpool must have already made a bid not near the asking price but before it was only an approach and also Basle dont want to sell so why give an asking price?

King Kenny should be absolutely ashamed of himself for not recognising your evidently world class scouting ability. I'm sure it s only a matter of time before you get the call and are initiated into the backroom staff at Anfield, an then we, the Real Fans can look forward to you putting your knowledge and experience to good use and bringing in some world beaters ..Who knows, you might even be able to coax Steve Lomas, Julian Joachim and Les Ferdinand out of retirement and sign them up for a few seasons. no need for a right winger kelly johnson can cover that side.

Perhaps they are looking for someone who can cross the ball to feed the £35,000,000 striker we brought in January! Its about building a team around a few star players and not filling the squad with over inflated ego's! Downing would add to the squad like him or not.

Sunderland are baulking at the personal demands of Liverpool striker David Ngog.

The Journal says the Frenchman was due to receive a hefty pay hike if he stayed at Liverpool this season and Sunderland are unwilling to match that sum.

Given the size of his pay rise, it is little wonder Liverpool have agreed to sell him as part of the £20m deal that took Jordan Henderson to Merseyside.

But the deal could collapse unless Liverpool are willing to help with the cost of his wages or reduce the fee so the striker can be given a lump sum up front to persuade him to accept the terms on offer on Wearside.

Talks are set to continue in the coming days, although the Sunderland hierarchy are confident the 22-year-old will sign for them by the start of pre-season training next month.

Payet looks good on You Tube (I know, I know..) anybody know anything about the kid? From what I've researched, he playes for a club with a good tradition and is a full French international. From what I can see it's surprising more teams arent after him, so I'm a bit suspicious. Any skeletons in the closet? One note of caution from looking at him on You Tube, although there's a lot of amazing looking stuff, I don't see too much crossing of the ball - I hate wingers who can't cross especially with our Big Geordie waiting in the box.... {Ed002's Note - If you search through the files here you will see that there has been much discussion about Payet in the past.}

I can only assume it is a moneyball thing. Whilst the Moneyball ethos wont really translate fully to football, wingers are one position where it could. All you really need from a winger is to get a good cross into the box. Speed will help him do that, as will trickery, but they arent essential. Beckham never beat a man, but his crossing was exemplary. Downing is that kind of player - underrated, but statistically better than given credit for. Bit like Lucas. Bit like Henderson, in fact.

Chances are, our business this summer will consist of young players with great potential, and also of less-than-inspiring players who have a specific quality. Bit like Downing. Bit like Adam.

If it helps us win, then I dont really care how big the players reputation is.

I am struggling to understand all of the negativity flooding this site over the last couple of weeks.

Why does everyone expect every transfer to be done and dusted within 5 minutes, its never happened that way and it never will. Our competitors haven't signed 7 players each so why should we have.

All the moaning that we haven't gotten rid of the deadwood yet as well. July transfer window works 2 ways, 1. we can buy from abroad, 2. We can sell to abroad.

Insua, Darby, Degan, Aqualani, Jovanovic, N'Gog, El Zhar, Poulsen, Rodriguez and if rumours are correct and Meireles does go, we are going to earn more money by selling these players to European teams, to European leagues where they will look like good players as opposed to the average or poor players in the premiership (apart from Meireles who has had a good season). Some of these players are still respected in the leagues they were originally in so to accept £1m for say Jovanovic from QPR when a team from the belgian league remember how good he was at Standard Liege and bid £6m for him.

The only 2 players that are more than likely to be offloaded to british teams is Konchesky and Cole and their have been teams linked with both of these already so I don't think its time to panic yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cole maybe go abroad mind. I think maybe LA galaxy or Qatar or somewhere like that, as they would pay the wage he is looking for, he says he wants to go back to London but if that was the case and he had such strong feelings about going back home, a wage cut wouldn't bother him in the slightest. So maybe Konchesky will be the only player to move to another English team.

Anyway, we will continue to guess who's coming in, continue to guess who we are selling to who, and continue to be incorrect and suitably impressed when King Kenny does what he's paid to do, sign the right players and bring in number 19 next season.

As always ed's, great site, knowing how busy you are at the moment, more than impressed that you find the time to reply to some of the more trying posts shall we say.

WE ARE NOT GETTING MATA. END OF.

23 Jun 2011 12:14:42
Why o why r Liverpool going 4 downing for approx 17 m when they can get Charles nzogbia for about 10m he can beat players at will downing hasn't dribbled past anyone in about 5 years he ain't fast he doesn't score I am just baffled why Liverpool fc are going for such a mediocre player if I can see the difference as a fan why the he'll can't the scouts

This is what there are saying in the mirror

Liverpool are targeting wing pair Stewart Downing and Dimitri Payet - but are miles away from matching their asking prices.

Contrary to some reports, the Reds want both the Aston Villa star and Saint Etienne's French international.

But Liverpool are thought to be £3m off Alex McLeish's £18m valuation for Downing and £5m out on the £11m the Ligue 1 club want for Payet.

Eds do you think both could arrive {Ed002's Note - Maybe.}

23 Jun 2011 12:12:45
ed why dont we go in for Argentine left back Christian Asnaldi.........guy is class and can prove new Coentrao.......wats ur say........he will come in cheap also and a gr8 addittion......

JAZZ ARORA {Ed002's Note - He is very close to a Benfica move with a couple of Italian sides and Anzhi Makhachkal making late moves.}

E.D.

Do you believe Liverpool have a chance of signing Juan Mata??
would love the man to join us but we would be battling against top sides for his signature

Also this myt sound left field but do you know of any interest in Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona, he has shone in the Euro 21 championships and could be a fantastic signing

Im probably being more desperate then actually believing he is a viable target

Looking forward to your response

LFC'S MANGO {Ed002's Note - Sure, There is a small chance of Mata.}

23 Jun 2011 11:45:19
Ed do we still have any interest is Ruiz from Twente? Imo he would be fantastic for us. If we sign Downing do you think that we will drop interest in Mata? I'd rather have Mata but was reading downing had one of the best cross statistics in prem. What are your thoughts on this? Also my mate was telling me we watched someone called Farfan the Peru winger. Have you heared anything about it?

TIZER RED {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that Bryan Ruiz will likely move to Porto - or just possibly Benfica. I don't know of any interest in Farfan from Liverpool, but it is not out of the question.}

Morning all
just been on the liverpool website fourums
and some fella claims that man city have asked us about andy carroll i for one dont belive it
have any of the eds or anyome else heard of this

23 Jun 2011 11:32:39
Hi ed, i think that if mancity get Sanchez then Barcelona would go for mata and if Barcelona get Sanchez then Mata would go to Mancity, which means we only have a small chance of singning him. But then again if Mancity get Mata then we would have a good chance of signing Adam Johnson, what do you think ed? And who are the other wingers we are interested in aside from Payet and Downing? Thanks ed, much help!

FilipinoRED
YNWA {Ed002's Note - For now I would focus on the confirmed targets rather than get wrapped up with what may or may not happen with Sanchez. There has been inteerest in plenty of wingers over recent weeks, confirmed interest in a lot less of course, but certainly Downing appears very much a target right now.}

This gave me a good laugh:-Liverpool are making a shock move for Manchester United defender John O Shea.

The Irish Independent says Liverpool are one of five clubs chasing the signature of O Shea, who looks set to turn down Sunderland.

But there is plenty of interest elsewhere, with Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa all interested in the 6m (£5.3m)- rated Ireland defender.

SOURCE: The Irish Independent.
And I thought their were some crazy rumours on here but this guy takes the cake lol.

Wenger will not pay £90 grand a week for Joe Cole.

23 Jun 2011 10:41:45
Morning all, I've heard this morning that interest in Xabi Prieto is increasing. I had heard that we had been linked with him but I thought it was only talk. Do you know if we've been seriously linked Ed?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - we have certainly got an interest in him, it would make sense to move for him, Sociedad are skint and we have very good relations with them dating from Toshack's time in particular.}

Prieto will be 28 at the end of August so he doesn't really fit in with the transfer criteria, but hey Xabi Alonso is even older and we are looking at him according to the rumours on here, so who knows?

23 Jun 2011 10:40:46
Atletico Madrid say striker Diego Forlan is likely to return to England after they made him available for transfer. - Reunite with his good pal Suarez?

23 Jun 2011 10:40:10
i know its only paper talk but a few are saying that chelsea would sell ryan bertrand for 5 million. after seeing him a few times i actually think hes one of the better left backs in the premier league and he has just never got a chance as he is understudy to ashley cole (IMO the best left back in the league) its kinda like the reina and spain situation. ED would you take him because i personally think he is already better then clichy?
Red GJ. {Ed002's Note - Bertrand is a good player but perhaps needs one more year of experience before a first team role in teh EPL.}

23 Jun 2011 10:38:20
I still think Davide Santon is the best option for a LB or RB.

I know we were interested but what happened ED's? {Ed002's Note - Could be available at the right price. May go on loan in Italy.}

23 Jun 2011 10:36:47
realistically the only thing Downing has over the others is he knows how the Premiership works, I just still dont believe he is whats needed. I would sooner welcome Wilshere, Gamst-Pederson, Zhirkov, Nani or Malouda.

Personally I reckon they would suit alot better

23 Jun 2011 10:36:30
ed- in your honest opinion do you think downing would be a good buy or bad buy, if we did get him of course? {Ed002's Note - Different Ed's have different opinions. He is a decent player, but in my view there are much better out there.}

23 Jun 2011 10:31:32
{Ed009's Note - Lucas won't be joining Liverpool this window.}

Y are all you eds so convinced he is not joining. And remember january when every ed kept saying that Suarez has no chance of joining. keep the faith reds...

me14 {Ed002's Note - The buy out clause quoted for Lucas when Chelsea, Benfica, BArcelona and others enquired is $130M. He will not be joining Liverpool.}

23 Jun 2011 10:26:32
Ed what are the chances of getting Pato or Jeffren {Ed002's Note - 0, 4}

23 Jun 2011 10:18:51
Said it before and will say it again. LFC not getting adam, mata, dann. only way we get downing is to pay over the odds and that is typical of lfc in the transfer market. paying huge money for average players. Like Carroll. He will not prove 35m worth. I guarantee it.

23 Jun 2011 10:16:32
connor wickham, mata and adams to sign in july

23 Jun 2011 10:14:10
My "gut" feeling on players we may sign:
Enrique (Newcastle)
Mata (Valencia)
Sissoko (Toulouse)
Adam (Blackpool)
Sakho (PSG)
Downing (Villa)
Just my thoughts not unrealistic either and with these we would be well capable to challenge for the title (irishred)

23 Jun 2011 10:09:32
mata to join for £17 million next week

23 Jun 2011 10:06:47
Aston Villa can not afford Joe Coles wages, so the cash plus player deal for downing will not happen, its going to be very hard to get Cole off the wage bill, teams that have the money to cover his wages do not need him, he wants to return to the capital, but only Fulham or QPR may show interrest, and still his wages will be a stumbling block, it looks more and more likely that he will still be a Liverpool player next season, and unless there is a massive injury crisis at the club I can not see him getting a game, so maybe a loan deal with a 50-50 split on his wages is the only option on cutting his wage bill.

23 Jun 2011 10:01:24
Guys I am gonna do some rumours based on what I have read and heard in the last month.
Adam: Quite likely for around about 10m. However transfer could take a few weeks.
Zapata: Seems keen for the move and fits the bill as a defender at the price of 8-12m
Mata: Has the same amount of chance as Suarez did. Remember how everyone was saying no Suarez. A great player at about 22m
Downing: A good crosser who can pitch in a few goals. Overpriced at 19m but very likely to sign.
Clichy: Average defender who, in MY opinion is past his prime. Good price at 5m but AW is unlikely to sell.
Flagship Signing?: between 25-35m. I think this is quite likely but I have no idea who.
Again these are just a few thoughts.
GOD

23 Jun 2011 09:32:19
According to the Mirror, Roma have bid 7m for Clichy and LFC have bid 5m. Both have been rejected, but Clichy wants to join the Reds and will insist on the move going through.

23 Jun 2011 09:25:13
Is there any truth that clichy would prefer liverpool ed?
on the other side if he went to Roma thats Riise out of the 1st team so bring him back haha {Ed002's Note - Obviously I have no idea what an individual player prefers - but I rather thought Clichy and Menez would be involved in a player exchange.}

23 Jun 2011 09:15:50
what do you think personally if we do sign stewart downing ?. good signing, bad signing etc, ?

23 Jun 2011 09:14:56
Eds, a big if I know but if we get Mata for the left would you prefer Downing or Payet for the right? I think Mata would be a huge signing and make us genuine title challengers but if we are going for Connor Wickham then it is very unlikely Mata will join. It sounds like we are looking to bring in two wide men and another striker. Considering Mata can play up front and we are going for Wickham I am not hopeful.
Redofded {Ed002's Note - My preference would be for Dmitri Payet.}

"ashley young to manchester united for 17 million - the liverpool rumour here is downing to liverpool for 19 million - im sure youll agree eds that downing is not worth more than young ! {Ed001's Note - nope, I don't rate Young at all.}

i agree with ed, , , i dont rate young either, downing i dont rate but he was much better than young the season jus gone"

And remember Young has only got a year left on his contract - Downing two. Makes a big difference.

23 Jun 2011 08:48:45
Downing deal fee is argeed. At 13.5 plus 2.5 mill add on if we qualify for champs league. Its a very similar deal to henderson. I personally feel thats not a bad deal.

We have to trust kenny if this goes through. For all we know mata could of said he doesn't want to come to us and thats why we have had to go for downing.

23 Jun 2011 07:11:28

So ed.. Downings move to us seems closer and with gael clichy wanting a move to us are we likely to see these moves happen? {Ed009's Note - I think we could well see Downing make the move but I doubt Clichy will join unless Wenger has a severe change of heart.}

23 Jun 2011 05:40:46
It's not a rumour ba i was wonderin' y don't we go in for south korea's shoot stopper...........i think he wud be a gud back up for pepe reina...........what do u think ed {Ed009's Note - If you refer to Lee Woon-Jae, their keeper at the WC then, whilst he was excellent, he has since retired from international football and at 38 would be a very short term option. If you refer to their new keeper Sung-Ryong then he only just joined his new club on a 5 year deal last January.}

Stewart Downing has moved a step closer to joining Liverpool after being told he can leave Aston Villa as long as the Anfield club meet a £19m asking price.

Villa boss Alex McLeish does not want to lose Downing but with the winger stalling on contract talks Villa are ready to cash in.

McLeish has made it clear he will not deny Downing a move to Liverpool and is planning to use the proceeds of a sale to lure Charles N'Zogbia from Wigan.

Downing has his heart set on Anfield but a stumbling block could be the transfer fee.

Liverpool have been looking at alternatives with St Etienne's
Dimitri Payet considered a possible target.

Liverpool are closely watching highly rated Swede Alexander Milosevic from AIK.

The centre back is regarded as one of the top prospects in Sweden and has a host of top European teams monitoring his progress.

A report in 'Sport Bladet' claims that LFC have had Milosevic watched recently and could make a move for the player.

The 19 year old has established himself in the Swedish U21 set-up as well as in the AIK team.

Milosevic is a big powerful (6ft 3) centre back and could be seen as a long term replacement for Sotirios Kyrgiakos.

someone posted earlier that Meireles will be sold to fund the Rodwell move. I was sceptical myself but now it has been confirmed that Meireles is being offered to an Italian side, maybe there is some truth in the Rodwell to Liverpool story.

Also Kenny wants to have an English spine for liverpool so i believe Rodwell could be on his way

Adam 10 Mil + 2 Mil in add ons if we get into the champions league next season and he makes 50 appearances overall for the club.

Downing 15 Mil + 3 Mil add ons, same criteria as Adam.

Konchesky going for 2.5 Mil, Extra 1.5 Mil if Wolves stay up next season (gets him off the wage bill).

Haggling for Dann. Looking likely 12 Mil fee with 3 Mil add ons. Birmingham want 15 Mil with add ons but are looking likely to accept if Arsenal don't outbid us.

Nothing is guaranteed until it happens but this is what you should hear happening soon (I can't put a time frame on it sorry).
