Gerrard is to quit England after euro 2012. Announcement soon...............

It's no shock is it?.. He will be 32 by the time the Euros start and he will want to prolong his LFC career!

Wot an miss a possible last world cup in 2 years maybe he retire after the 2014 world cup
leelfc

I hope this is true....He needs to prolong his career, it makes perfect sense and i reckon the euros will be his last in an england kit.

Rubbish. Stevie has already stated he loves playing for England and would never choose to retire like others have. That will come through time by itself.

Ed.
Do you think that Keisuke Honda is a possible target in January if Charlie Adam doesn't improve? {Ed001's Note - I don't think Adam's performances will have any bearing on any interest in Honda.}

But do you think it's a possibility?

Honda deserves to be in a great team like Liverpool!

Adam has only done ok give him a chance

Adam is way to slow, the guy gives the ball away way to often, occasionally makes an outstanding pass, no pace, cannot tackle. got caught out against spurs when the pace was frantic.

Hes been a good buy so please leave him alone....dont forget its a team and he is trying hard to impress and when he settles down he will be awesome.....remeber Alonso wasnt at his best the first season

Speedy

Agreed. He's done ok. Often happens when new arrivals are desperate to impress - felt sorry for Joe Cole... And Alonso had a great last season, but was slow and had a dreadful tackle. Paul Scholes was the worst tackler I've seen, wasn't too quick either, but he did alright. Trevor Brooking could barely break into a trot... Give Charlie a chance - Steven will soon rein him in...

Honda is a Winger very fast and fantastic Finisher of freekick. C. Adam is a Defansive Midfielder. I think adam must lose 3/4 kg of his weight then he can be more fast

If adam dont improve???adam has done great apart from the last game person my word some lfc fans really r idiots

Talking about adam being slow what about kuyt he is a slow ass snail....adam is good leave him alone honda should replace kuyt imo yeah kuyt runs like headless chicken and gets some crucial goals but 70% of the time hes useless and all his runnin amount to nothing

Right leave adam alone hes unreal and the fella who said kuyt is useless get a life u person kuyt cud run for days the two of them are unreal heres some advice stop listening to sir alex ferguson u idiot

Ed previously you have confirmed that we are interested in lucas from sao paolo. When u say that we won't buy him cos of the price i am suprised because he would always cost 20m+? Do you think we won't buy him cos of the price then or for other reasons? {Ed002's Note - Lucas was enquired about by Liverpool amongst numerous teams and the quoted price was $130M. He may eventually be sold for much less but way more than any English side will pay for an unproven teenager. There is, in my view, no chance of him moving to England or to Liverpool. If pushed, Roma or one of the Milan clubs could attract him away from a move to Portugal, but I doubt he will leave Brazil for at least two or three years.}

So ed you think that no clubs from england will sign him but one of the milan clubs or Roma could?

Dunno what to make of that, Man city and Chelsea and even us now are starting to spend crazy amounts on players. If he is that expensive and talented, I would bet on either City, Chelsea, Madrid or maybe even Malaga and PSG(as they now have rich owners).

You seem certain that we wont sign Lucas, I too doubt we will but after Carroll surely anything is possible?? {Ed002's Note - As I said, I don't see him moving soon. The player must want to move and Sao Paulo must want to sell before any move happens and at the moment the player has made it clear that he is happy and Sao Paulo have priced him out of any sale. If and when the time comes they may be tempted by a fee of about $50M. Quite frankly Liverpool do not have anything like that a mount of money to spend on such a player regardless of how much money some of the fans think that the owners have to throw about. In my opinion, as an alternative to a move to Portugal (say with Porto) the most likely move is to Roma with a chance of interest from the Milan clubs. In any case, I very much expect that it would be a third party ownership deal or partial ownership deal to keep the fee down - and that rules out any chance of a move to England.}

Also you say unproven, but I seen Lucas play in the same Brazil team as Neymar and he outshone Neymar bigtime, so if Neymar can have all this hype surrounding him surely Lucas is a top talent, what exactly do you mean by unproven? {Ed002's Note - There is no doubt about Lucas' talent. I am not sure way you see the need to try and compare a midfield player to a forward who has had considerably more exposure. So you have seen him play in the same Brazil side for a few games, fine, but that does not make him proven to be suitable to play in England. Plus he does not want to move right now, Sao Paulo do not want to sell him right now, and (like Neymar) he will not be moving to Liverpool in January.}

Why is every one attacking the ed. he has stated his reasons over and over again. it takes 5 mins to scroll down the page

hi Eds just heard a rumour that if arsenal poor performance continue Robin Van persie may well quit Arsenal.Any chance of lfc on that. {Ed002's Note - It seems very unlikely.}

Why? It would be like leaving McDonalds to work for Wimpy.

Sydney ;)

If you dont try,you dont get

You'd know Sydney

Why would he leave a club in turmoil, to join another in turmoil.

Liverpool are a team on the up not in turmoil

If he quits arsenal it will be for a team in amongst the trophies every end of season and i cant really see that being liverpool for a good few seasons yet we are still a fair way behind the mancs.

Hey Ed's just wondering, the past couple of days rumours are starting to pop up again. Names like Vertonghen and Giovinco have caught my ears so I was wondering is there actually anybody we are looking at, obviously I know we may not bid for the player but is there a real connection? {Ed002's Note - Clubs do not stop looking in the close season but I am guessing the likes of Giovinco (who if memory serves is subject to third party ownership) make little or no sense. Generally it will be rumour mongering but the club will certainly be on the look out for the up and coming players.}

Very unlikely Liverpool will sign a big name in January but expect a few youngsters to be added to the squad.

I have heard M'Baye Niang (9mil) is out top January target. I've watched him play a few times so if anyone's interested, I can tell you what king of player he is.

Positionally, he is like Balotelli. He is an advanced centre forward but can also play on either wing and cut in.

He is only 16 but has a goal record of 3 in 7 for Caen.

His main attributes are pace and movement.

I know this isn't exactly detailed, but I though I'd share it anyway :)

AZ {Ed002's Note - He would need to wait until he is 18 to actually move unless the club are going to bring his family over.}

Yeah sorry ed, forgot to mention that bit. I think if it were to actually happen, he would stay with Caen for the rest of the season, and his family would move over next summer.

AZ {Ed002's Note - I have to say that I would not hold your breath over this one.}

Yeah no me neither. It looks like City, Arsenal, Madrid and well, every top team are after him. All i wanted to say is that I've heard he is our top target. Because aside from a 32 year old Bellamy, we have no striker with out and out pace to get in behind defenses as well as have a good physical presence about him

AZ

Suarez has pace

Irish Red

Suarez has decent pace, like Downing and Gerrard. Not raw pace like Bellamy and Babel

Ed, u keep saying the spending is done so I have started to get a worried a bit. Do you mean that it's done for the foreseeable future(January) or overally for the next year(s). Won't ask you for any specific names cuz it's pointless at this stage of the season but what is the general plan of LFC. If we get into the Champions league are there any 'marquee' signings coming in the summer. Thanks for the answer in advance. Y.N.W.A {Ed002's Note - What said was "I have given my view that unless there are injuries, someone decides to leave or obvious short-comings, then the January transfer window will be quiet for Liverpool." It is pretty explicit that we are talking about January - it was mentioned in the question and the answer. As for what happens next summer, nobody knows right now and as you suggest much will depend on Champions League qualification.}

Given the upheavels that the squad hass gone through over the last 6 months I would be very surprised if we sign anyone in January unless we have a major injury crisis. If anything we will be trying to off-load a few more. Just because you can buy players doesn't mean you must. I think they will review any weaknesses and general improvements during next summer on - for the senior squad - a very much 'one in, one out' basis RED LENIN

Do you think Kenny has a list of transfer targets now for next summer regardless of form and injuries throughout the year? and if so, do youbelieve that Ed has been given access to this document? that was a tricky question....even for Ed

Ed with details of Lavezzis contract clause being made public could you see the reds making enquiries for this guy to see if we can sign him in January?

I know Napoli are still in the CL but could well be out by then (even though I think they could be dark horses). This guy is a quality player and if we are challenging for a top four place come jan, I think we may well be a viable option to him.

The Italian league is rife with match fixing and scandal so could see him being interested. I know others would also be interested but the chance to play alongside Saurez may interest him too. {Ed002's Note - I really don't see it, sorry. I have given my view that unless there are injuries, someone decides to leave or obvious short-comings, then the January transfer window will be quiet for Liverpool. Comolli has gone further and said spending is done.}

After the last couple of results though if we have aspirations to finish in the top four then a couple of signings is a must in my opinion. For one we now know we need another centre back ideally this will be Cahill or Vertonghen.

Lavezzi would be the preferred striker And one of Affelay or A Johnson for right side.

We need more strength in depth Ed so I can see us trying to sign at least one of the above five.

We still have to replace Meirelles also. I can see two of the above coming in and my preferred two would be Affelay and Vertonghen. Wouldn't you agree Ed? {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

So Ed are you saying none of these are a viable signing or that you would prefer different players?

I disagree with you on at least the fact we need a midfielder as Meirelles went so late in the window.

I know we enquired for Johnson on deadline day so why do you think we wouldn't go back or at least go for Affelay?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained on many occasions my view on what will happen in Januaray - and it has again been explained this morning. It seems Comolli has an even stronger view on the subject. There is little point entering a debate to say the same thing over and over again.}

For me We may have a £20m Buget for January. and sure liverpool dont want use that only for a player. people saying Kenny use £100m. but they Forgot more then £70m is coming from player sale.
