Gianluca Di Marzio ‏@dimarzio 1m
Update #salah: @chelseafc now is close, discussing again with @FC_Basel: new offer is €15M plus bonus

hope the powers at be are happy pissing about let's hope the lad plays it safe with first team football over cash and trophies he won't help win on the bench

Believable16 Unbelievable55

I hope LFC start negotiating for players now because it will can them 4 months to get any deal done.

Agree0 Disagree0

We all know how this is going to end.

Salah goes to Chelsea. We still have the rather awful Victor Moses on loan to provide the abject uselessness that only Stewart Downing could rival and we end up outside the top four because the management fiddled while Rome burned.

If that's how Mourinho wants it then I'd be happy to let Moses rot in the reserves and train with the kids till the end of the season and not let him near a first team game(as if he has any danger of that in any case). As he doesn't actually benefit us when he starts or sitting on the bench and we can't exactly send him back.

At least that way his value drops to Chelsea.

Agree3 Disagree3

This Di Marzio is the only one reporting salah to chelsea, if u believe what he says then salah would have signed for us on jan 1st

What annoys me the most is our lack of urgency, I totally behind FSG not paying over odds for players, but haggling all time won't get the players we want/need, if Salah wants to go for money and sit on bench most of time instead of playing for passion and pride then he is most welcome to Chelsea, but FSG need to get there fingers out because I can't see us finishing in top 4 if we don't sign anyone decent, that'll mean goodbye Luis Suarez.

Hi Ed1, you are always good for a candid answer - Do you think we will sign a cm?

Ed2 has said its a position we're looking at and you know you'd like us to sign someone.

Cheers pal,

Believable4 Unbelievable11

{Ed002's Note - INterest reman in Will Hughes for he summer.}

22 Jan 2014 23:09:12
I think we can forget Tello altogether - he's just completed a second-half hat-trick at Levante in the Spanish Cup.

Ed02, out of interest, considering Coutinho's frankly appalling form of late, surely Atletico have dropped their interest? Cheers.

Believable8 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - My understanding is for now they are not chasing him.}

Thanks, hardly surprising tbh, he really has been awful. Hopefully he can rediscover his form.

Apparently Basel are now upping there price to 18m now Chelsea are involved. It says they want him as a replacement for mata and Chelsea are willing to pay the 18m, if true obviously were gunna miss out as salah has already said he wants a big move to utd, real or Chelsea.
If he'd rather sit on the bench at Chelsea and make more money than play a regular role for Liverpool I don't want him.

Believable24 Unbelievable76

The fee has already been agreed and Salah has his heart set On Liverpool

Agree2 Disagree5

Why did Chelsea spend 21mil on Matic then

Agree16 Disagree0

The papers might just be putting 2&2 together with the departure of mata.
The signing of matic has nothing to do with the salah deal atall, Chelsea's mid is hurting Ramirez is there only good CM lampard an mikel are not good enough.

Agree0 Disagree13

These stories are becoming more and more ridiculous,

*fact jones* how the hell do you know salah “has his heart set” on Liverpool are you his partner? mother? brother? no you are not so stop writing nonsense.

*sid19* chelsea signed matic because they have the money too, which Liverpool do not, if chelsea are indeed interested in salah he WILL go to chelsea ahead of Liverpool.

id be surprised if we manage to capture anyone this window if we do get salah we would be extremely fortunate

Agree3 Disagree16

As a former pro athlete (not football), the money isn't allways a factor! For more players than you realize, being a hero and playing almost every game is more important! He will make more than a decent Living going to LFC, and be in the top 7 in one of the best leagues in the World. IT can be enough! At least for some!

Agree5 Disagree0

Its speculation, doesn't make any sense that you would get of Mata and then sign an unproven bench warmer. If salah has any sense he will come to LFC and pllay and not sit on the bench at Chelski. If he does go to them then more fool him, maybe he does wanna be the next Shaun right phillips!
I reckon Chelski will bid on ross barkley and not Salah, let's wait and see eh fellow reds

Hey Ed. Have we ever looked at Ignazio Abate? Not in Milan's first 11 after the managerial change.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - I am not aware of us having looked at anyone currently playing for Milan this season, at all. I would expect us to want to have them watched a few times before signing anyone.}

I know its not going to happen but if we were to go after a milan full back I'd love to see Liverpool go after De Sciglio that lad looks like he's got a bright future, can play either side aswell, i'd love to see him in a Liverpool jersey

Agree1 Disagree0

Its not like Abate is unknown, he is Italy's RB and his style of play is pretty well known.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - there is a lot more to scouting than finding out their style of play.}

22 Jan 2014 20:24:38
Liverpool in with a cheeky bid for ex-Evertonian and out-of-favour Manchester City midfielder: Jack Rodwell.

Believable16 Unbelievable37

One day someone must explain to me what a "cheeky bid" is. More to the point since Rodwell did virtually nothing at City how small a cheeky bid would it be? I'd sooner stick with what we've got than spend on another substandard bench warmer. We've got plenty of those already.

Agree3 Disagree0

What exactly constitutes a cheeky bid? And I'd rather we didn't bother with him to be honest!

Hi eds,
Is there any truth to the rumours that Chelsea are planning on hijacking the Salah transfer(assuming of course that the £10mil Liverpool negotiations are true)? Think it would break my heart to lose another target rivals lol.
Cheers for any info you may have to share on the matter.

Believable7 Unbelievable9

{Ed001's Note - I don't have a clue, so used to Ed002's input on Chelsea, I have stopped even trying to find anything out on them as it always ends up just being the same.}

Wouldn't surprise me, they did it with SWP!

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheeky chelsea

they can blow our bid out of the water

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the reply anyway ed. Fingers crossed I suppose.

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at it this way if they do hijack Salah then a CM/DM would be targeted and that could be one of Yann M'vila, Hernanes, Ever Banega or Antonio Candreva, which is all good either way for me. But it would be nice to seal Salah.

Agree1 Disagree0

They should have been targeting a defensive Mid ANYWAY! Our transfer policy does not seen to collate to our teams weaknesses

Agree1 Disagree0

Our teams weakness is a left winger, we are so unbalanced when we put countinho out there

My mate is a bus driver who drives past Melwood. He tells me that the groundstaff there are convinced that
Luciano Vietto is on his way to Anfield in January.

Eds, any light to shed on this?

Believable6 Unbelievable34

Do the groundstaff run alongside the bus and shout the latest transfer gossip through his window, or do they have big placards?

Believable60 Unbelievable29

I'm guessing you mean Salah? And Aguero? Flying Easy Jet? IMHO all three are equally unlikely!

Was it them that thrashed the Ryanair flight lol just what we need!

Agree2 Disagree0

Thanks for your sparkling insight Jay. I'm just so used to dimwits on here I take things at face value. Plank was awarded to me by a Brummie poster on here who told me I was as thick as plank because he thought I was thick for saying a transfer target of Liverpool would stay in a hotel. He told me transfers don't go through until the target buys or rents a house or flat. Pot calling kettle I thought and am proud of the name.

Main course with your side salad sir?

How about some Mataballs?

How much would that Costa?

Hi Ed001,

You replied earlier to one of my posts r.e. Lucas and our midfield.

You have mentioned Baio as the academy player you would like to see given a shot in the first team

This information is from Twitter but is he currently on a trial at a Championship club for a permanent move?

Cheers

Believable3 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - sorry I did reply to this earlier, but my internet went off and my really long reply, which I spent ages over, but was little more than a rant about people not answering phones or replying to emails regarding him, went missing. You had a lucky escape!
Anyway, I am not sure, and have been unable to get it confirmed, whether or not it is a loan or permanent move he is looking for. It would be a surprise if it was a perm, he was with the first team squad not so long ago!}

He played for Sheffield wed u21 as part of his trial yesterday if this helps.

According to the Metro Liverpool have moved into advanced talks with Basel over Salah, with hourly contact.
It's claimed we have come to a compromise of around €10m and if a pay structure can be agreed, then he'll come to Anfield.

Believable71 Unbelievable19

22 Jan 2014 16:25:21
This is the same rag that ran the 'Salah flat' story, they just mention any old gubbins with the name Salah in it as it gets them loads of hits from eejits who will believe anything.

Dave's dog

Agree1 Disagree1

A compromise of €10m isn't that the fee we wanted to pay all along? perhaps £10m would be a compromise from the £12m Basel wanted.

Agree2 Disagree0

Soz Haych, it should say £0m, not Euros.
Still, if it's as bad a paper as Dave's Dog says, then it matters not one jot.
:)

Agree1 Disagree1

That converts to around £8million and with so many interested clubs after Salah I'd be amazed if that would buy one of his legs.

Couldn't find a response on the search engine, but wanted to know eds did we really send scouts to watch Valon Berisha at the munich game, and if he was brought in for as little as £2.5million surely he'd be playing with the reserves and not be expected to even be a bench player. Allthough i'd rather have him than Moses tbh.
Also to a friend of mine who laughed and said salzburg are rubbish they did manage to beat a munich side (allbeit one not at full strength) 3-0. He's surely worth a punt at 2.5mil, and only 20 years old?

Believable3 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - There has not been any approach to his club - I don't know if anyone has been to watch him.}

He would cost more RB-S paid £2.4m for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not god enough. Yet! But I doubt he ever will be! Must be a mixup, a swedish talent with same last name.

Juan iturbe seems to be attracting attention from some pretty big clubs. Does that include Liverpool? Desperate to hear that we're bidding for players at least!

Believable8 Unbelievable11

{Ed002's Note - No.}

22 Jan 2014 10:42:01
Is Ed02 about? With these so called rumours about mata allowed leave for over £30m but not to another epl side due to the sales of Torres mirrilas* yossi from lfc to Chelsea is their a bit of mutual respect their between the 2 clubs that would allow such a sale of mata I know it's not happening I just wondered if it could be possible?

Believable3 Unbelievable19

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool do not have the money to buy Mata Jay - so it is moot.}

If we can't afford him, how come we could afford Willian / Mkhitarian, Costa et al, in the summer? What's happened to finance since?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Sure, could sell Suarez to raise the money.}

Ed, I am not denying your claim that Liverpool do not have money to buy Mata . But if it is really true that Liverpool FC are the 9th richest club in the world then why can't we afford him? If spurs can spend such money then why can't Liverpool? FSG made it clear that they can compete with any club in Europe, our squad is very thin, our bench always looks weak and if they mean business why can't they dig deep into their pocket to support the manager to get quality players who can push us to top 4? We always go for players who are available on loans and 1-8million bracket which to me is mid table teams mentality or judgement in transfer market though not always. FSG must really do something and forget about King Kenny's spending era because if we miss the top 4 this year it will dump our spirit.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you mean by "ninth richest". Spurs sold Bale and spent the money. Liverpool could sell Suarez and spend some money. Liverpool spend vastly more on transfers than the likes of Spurs.}

Why not spend most of this summer's transfer budget and bring in the likes of Mata, Salah and Fernando Reges now? to secure champions league because otherwise we won't be attracting these type of players if we don't qualify then.

Agree3 Disagree0

UnicornRiver- we spent ~24M on two CBs after Chelsea signed Willian, BVB signed Mkhitaryan, and Costa decided to stay at Atletico, did we not?

Agree0 Disagree1

To be fair to the OP, our net spend is currently around 20M. In the same blll park as Villa and Swansea and 15M less than Cardiff.

Agree2 Disagree0

Not sure how you come up with 20M. My recollection is closer to 70M net since BR came in.

Agree0 Disagree1

That's 20M since the window opened in summer 2013.

Agree0 Disagree0

We may have to sell Suarez if we don't make CL

Agree0 Disagree2

Our net spend on transfers since the 2010/11 season totals £90 mills. This does not include agents fee's and taxes which would probably put another £30 mills on that total.
Don't any one say that we have not been forth coming with money for transfers.
LFC will buy the right player for the right price and will not be held to ransom.
I for one fully support the way we are conducting our business and if that means we miss out on a few players due to greed then so be it.
I would sooner have a player here to play for the badge than the amount of £000's we can put in there bank account.

Good morning Eds

Sorry if this has been answered all ready, I've searched but can't find it anywere.

Are we truly interested in Nigel De Jong and the youngster Berisha or not?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - See previous answer for NDJ. I am not aware of interest in Berisha neither are his club at this time.}

22 Jan 2014 00:27:00
Hello eds,
Can you shed any light on the de Jong loan move rumours?
Surely the club couldn't afford his wages and seal the deal for Salah could they?

Believable5 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - I don't see why Milan would let him go on loan.}

21 Jan 2014 14:05:49
Hi Ed, I know we've got a few centre backs but with a couple leaving on loan, and others having negatives against them i.e. age, lack of pace or poor decision making could BR still be looking for options in that position? What do you see the future holding for Alvarez Balanta?
Just a thought

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I don't see anything happening for centre backs n January. There are 9 in teh first team squad. Balanta may move in the summer - there is interest from Spain and Italy.}

Thank you Ed.
I know it's not Liverpool and I'm guessing you won't want to discuss it because the thread would probably get hijacked by people but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the Anelka situation

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It is unacceptable. He is a complete idiot.}

I agree, however from what I've researched the gesture is more "anti-establishment" than "anti-Semitic" so isn't it going to be difficult for the FA to make their charge stick?
The man who invented the gesture says it's not anti-Semitic so there can't possibly be any proof that it is.
