Mirror reporting that we have bid 10 million for Sebastian Coates.

Really hope so..... this guy looks like he has real potential.

Would be a fantastic signing to cap a very good summer transfer dealings.

BooDaBooze

I hope this is true. Great player already, and plenty of time to get even better.
A much better CB than Godin. And he really came of age in the Copa this year.
Good with the ball at his feet too.
I hope this is oh so true.

Scuzz McBoob

Godin would be better but coates can be great

Gday Ed's, I personally do not know much if anything about Coates, other than what wikipedia has just told me (which isn't much).
Firstly, is there anything in the rumours ? And secondly is he good enough for LFC ?
Cheers

Aussie red {Ed009's Note - There could well be some legs in this particular link. He is certainly good enough for us.}

I watched him play in the coca america and he looks very good...I am very suprised to see that he is only 20 years old he seems to have on old head on young shoulders.....very very big shoulders

22 Aug 2011 23:13:09
Great job MACCA!! The telegraph are now reporting a story on LFC going for Coated...Believe it's Rory Smith..Now on towards bellamy. I personally wouldn't mind him back. Good player,quick and versatile ....and always loved the way he worked off the ball..like him or not..his work rate is very impressive..

Cease

Agree bellamys pace frightening,when brings ball with him!yeap workrate good also

Attitude stinks though. Not good enough when we had him for sure not good enough now. Pace is all he has got and he is not as quick as he was a year ago. In decline, fineeto, past it, over the hill

Bellamy would be a good signing, proven goalscorer and can really link up with saurez like he did with tervez back in Man City.

The word on Merseyside this morning that the Bellamy deal would likely be a loan deal does make some sort of sense of our interest in a 31 year old.

The press get their stories from this website fellas.

I think bellamy would be good loan deal, i agree rhat his work rate is fantastic, saw him play away at watford for us a few years ago and just watched him 10-15 mins and his running off the ball and tracking back was excellant. He may have an undesirable attitude but on the pitch works relly hard

thebritvickid

F**k Bellamy he was average when he was here. and caused a lot of problem off the field (Rise thing), at newcastle and man city too. So does everybody think it will be different this time around? He would wreck the positive mood the squad has at the moment. If we sign him again they may as well sign Joey Barton, f**k it bring back Julian Dicks Too or Torbven Picknic!!!!

22 Aug 2011 23:02:22
Rory Smith of the Telegraph is now saying we have identified Coates as the CB we want. He is usually somewhat arrogant but very dependable with his info {Ed002's Note - Sounds like Ed002.}

Maybe Rory Smith is Macca?

Blair Mayne YNWA {Ed002's Note - Maybe.}

22 Aug 2011 22:58:13
y is everyone goin on about benayoun he aint comin back to liverpool. he's a good player but i dont think there's any chance he will come back

Because macca sed i normally he is right

22 Aug 2011 22:57:56
The Telegrath are now running a story about us going for Coates. Either Macca is telling the truth or the Telegrath is taking the story from this site, you decide.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. Go have a look.

The latter

Square tomato

^dito

Maybe Macca and The Telegraph are one and the same... Ah, the plot thickens...

Anyone of the Eds shed any light on what facts you have on the possible signing of Coates please?. Have we made a bid that you know of or is it just speculation? Or are we just sizing up an offer for him?. Please lads whats happened? {Ed002's Note - There is interest apparently - as is being reported but unconfirmed, so probably no offers just yet.}

Ok thank you mate. Very exciting signing

22 Aug 2011 22:08:18
Is that Kuyt story an old story Ed? I'd be amazed if Dirk was allowed to leave, unless he wants to.

Thanks.....

Blair Mayne YNWA {Ed009's Note - It seems to be a recycling of a story that cropped up last summer after Benitez made a genuine approach for the player. I can't see him leaving either.}

22 Aug 2011 22:04:11
Evening Ed, has the Greek gone to Wolfsburg?

'O' Stafford {Ed002's Note - Yep.}

22 Aug 2011 21:26:13
ed r the rumours about kuyt and coates true?

el pistolero {Ed009's Note - I'll say no to Kuyt and quite possibly to Coates right now.}

Both is looking to be true. and its Good business I think Hope to More player come in Young talented player wanted not only superstar.

Failed sentence ^^

The Hillsborough E-petition has now passed the 100,000 mark it needed for it to be discussed by parliament.

...that took about a week. Obviously they will redact anything of any pertinance or anything that puts the Tory Party in a bad light (highly likely)

Well done everyone

I may be wrong about this but doesn't 100,000 signatures mean it will be "considered" for debate.I'm not sure it's automatic.If it's not assured then I would expect the debate to be buried by the government in favour of a debate on something as trivial as possible.

I doubt the government would want to ignore 100,000 voters. Here's hoping the petition is effective. Well done to everyone who signed

cozinoz

It just means that they have to have a debate in the commons on the subject matter. ....or the Tories will look like idiots....they don't have to allocate much time for the debate or indeed pass the proposal.

Congratulations everybody who pushed this and signed the petition, including lots of supporters from other teams. This transcends football tribalism. Justice For The 96. YNWA.

Well done everyone! They may ignore or sweep it under the carpet.But we wont go away, i think 92 died in Oslo and Utoya in an evil attack may they rest in peace x. 96 lost they lives just going to watch a game of football. Justice is all that is asked...May they rest in peace....GYRED

22 Aug 2011 20:59:06
Eds, what rating do you give for these players leaving; Poulsen, Cole, Degen, Ngog, Kuyt.

Also, if these all leave, do you believe Liverpool will have an eventful week, e.g. Marquee signing? {Ed002's Note - I would expect Degen to leave and possibly Ngog. Cole and Pulsen I am not so sure. Kuyt is unlikely. Marquee signing no - but would a flagship signing be OK?}

Ed what flagship signing do you speak of? {Ed009's Note - He was messing around.}

Please don't tell me you genuinely thought Ed002 was being serious when he said flagship signing?

22 Aug 2011 20:39:30
Eds do you think Hugo Rodallega is good enough for liverpool and will he be ok with being second or third striker? {Ed009's Note - I think he is a player who would definitely rather be a rotation striker above and beyond a relegation fighting player. Is he good enough? He suffers from inconsistency, but as a means of rotation he would likely suffice. He is certainly better than N'Gog.}

Im better than ngog ed

ste liverpool

We need a good back up striker that is satisfied to be second choice.

I wouldn't mind him..he certainly offers something different from the strikers we have..great on the ball,quick, can also play out wide..

22 Aug 2011 20:32:46
I said yesterday bellamy was coming back
he will be at club by Friday
K.O.B

I hope not! Over rated and selfish with the ball

Id have him back any day

He's a decent footballer but bad influence in dressing room and on the pitch IMO.

Just cos you keep repeat yourself does not mean its going to happen every week i say i'm going to win the lotto

I like the player

If he do'es come back Kenny will have to hjde his golf club's!

Hope he doesent come back the man is a nutter, and waste of space,

I think he would be a good addition to the team

Bellamy is worthless with a bad attitude. If he had behaved himself when at anfield (2006-2007) before he would have played in the Champions League Final 2007, but no because hes a prick with too much baggage he didn't. Its always going to follow him. I for one do not want to see this idiot playing for King Kennys Reds.

22 Aug 2011 20:15:24
Scott Dann release clause of 7.5 million to be met and will sign for the Reds

Hope so , will give it his all for us

Never ever heard even the slightest hint that there was a release clause in his contract.

Well you have now !

22 Aug 2011 20:11:31
Heard a report from Gazzetta saying that Milan are actually thinking of purchasing Aquilani's full right immediately. That's why they were sending new proposals to Liverpool today and currently waiting for an answer. It's still a rumor though at the moment, maybe someone can confirm it ?

{Ed002's Note - You will find details in last nights posts.}

22 Aug 2011 19:28:33
Did LFC sell Kyrgiakos to Wolfsburg or did we release him for free ? ed pls ? {Ed009's Note - I think we can assume it is a free, unless anything else comes to light.}

All I can say is that on Sky Sports News it says for an undisclosed fee so if that has anything to go by then it's not free

Soto was approx 1.5m

Not the most gifted of players, but never lacked in effort and heart. Sorry to see him go really. The big Greek will never walk alone.

22 Aug 2011 19:23:39
Evening Ed002 I'm back from my little holiday to Wales (Barmouth to be precise and believe it or not the weather was fine!) I hope I find you well.
I know I would like to see Yossi back as I think he is a very clever and underrated player but I wondered how you, as a Chelsea fan, would feel about losing him?

Chris in Tamworth

{Ed002's Note - I am glad you had a nice vacation - we are going to take a couple of days ourselves next week. Neither I nor Chelsea will mid Benayoun moving on. He has had a rough time losing much of his first season at Chelsea to injury and now about to slip down the pecking order.}

22 Aug 2011 19:25:21
Can macca or the eds shed any light on just how close bellamy or banayoun could be
?

Thankyou {Ed009's Note - I personally do not believe Benayoun will sign and Bellamy is, if anything, nothing more than a possible right now. Macca has divulged all he knows and anything that comes to his attention will no doubt be relayed to you. We will just have to wait and see what unfolds.}

22 Aug 2011 19:18:17
Macca - I'm not sure if you enjoy being tormented by the lads on here or what...but maybe just stick to the good news in the future (i.e. Coates) and leave the bad news (Yossi, Bellamy) to someone else and preserve your good name. Because, true or not, no one is going to respond positively to terrible news like that.

my $0.02

Seth

I would love Borg those players back a the club

Square tomato

Both not Borg lol

Square tomato

Oh, I don't know:

Locutus of Borg would make a stunning assistant to KD, and Seven of Nine a brilliantly distracting winger!

Tarquin

PS - and I agree with you on Bellamy and Benayoun for what it's worth.

Haha nice one

Square tomato

Perhaps shanks was a Borg he wanted to make us a bastion of invincibility and make everyone give in which could be a form of assimilation.

Why would this news be seen as bad? If KK wants to bring these players back to the club to add experience and quality who amongst us is going to go up to the King and say to his face that he doesn't know what he is doing?

Yossi was a smashing player during his time at Anfield and while Bellamy is a bit of a nut job, all he really did that was bad was hit Riise with a golf club, but who here hasnt wanted to do that at some point after watching him play?

22 Aug 2011 18:48:56
To confirm you, been told in good authority neither Yossi Benayoun nor Craig Bellamy will make a return to LFC either as permanent or on loan. It just don't make sense & is perfectly against FSG's philosophy. If the rumours of a former red might return are true by any means then you can expect some one younger ( 30 or below) to arrive!
The expected arrival of a Centre back is certainly up to anyone's guess. It will once gain be an exciting end to a wonderful & an excellent transfer window for LFC & their fans.
YNWA Fellow Reds

Totally agree I can't see KK wanting Bellamy or Benayoun.
Gary Cahill and Rodallega will sign by 31st

I would have to say i disagree with you ed, even though i am irish and would love to see him in the shirt. i rate him much higher than ngog and believe he would be a great player to bring on, 3rd striker sort of thing and he is a proven goal scorer in the prem thanks!

I don't know, I can see both fitting in well in our pass-and-move football (remember Bellamy for Man City in 09-10, he was their best player!) and providing cover for positions we're a tad light in (wide/up front). If we can get them both cheap (likely) then they would simply be good squad players for us. For the big signings, this 'FSG philosophy' will of course be followed, but for little additions like this, I'm sure they won't stick to it quite so rigidly. Sometimes it's OK to just go for a short-term fix here and there.

DP

I disagree aswell. FSG dont have a bottomless pit of money. They might have to loan bellamy for one season to provide good backup. Next season when we hopefully have champions league football and more cash, we can buy a top striker

You're right, it will be a young former red...... the mighty neil mellor! you heard it here first!

*please not the sarcasm*

22 Aug 2011 18:47:55
I understand Macca has been trying to post for two days about Coates, I have to point out yesterday I wrote about him being a really good player and hoped we were interested. The Ed said nope. Now it is pure coincidence that he posted about us signing. The ed can back me up about it and even members here slated me saying I was wrong etc.

Signed Me

(Just saying that I have an eye for players)

No offence mate, but anyone who watched the Copa America will have seen he was a good player - not just you...

I'm surprised we may be going for him as we seemed certain to be going for an English centre-half in Dann, Cahill or Shawcross.

But he fits the FSG profile and if he signs I hope he can put in the sort of performances he put in at the Copa America. Let's hope Man City don't come in for him now, as he was linked earlier in the summer.

RedSG

I know but it was the fact that 1 day after mentioning him he gets linked

Signed Me

I know the player was voted the winner of the best young player at the Copa America but still, well done for having such a great eye for finding great players.

MR EM

We all can see hes good player he hasnt signed for us so wats point in saying u got eye for good player stop bigging yerself up u havent said anything i dnt know tell me something i do know other than u r a wally lol

Dunno whether that is sarcasm but I'll take it as a compliment. O_o

Signed Me

You may have a good eye for a good player but you dont seem so good at spotting a bit of wit......

Anybody who knows anything about football can see sebastian coates is a good player, voted best young player at the copa-america its obvious to everybody, last player to be voted best young player was messi and he turned out pretty good! maybe a job in the lfc scouting department is on the cards....

22 Aug 2011 18:39:27
Macca are you 100% sure about Benayoun and Coates ? Would absolutely love if these did happen !
Cheers mate :)
IrishRed. {Ed002's Note - Nothing is 100% - please just accept this as the best available information at this time.}

22 Aug 2011 18:34:42
Hi Ed, so based on what Macca has said it seems that we may be making bids for coates and bellamy. Do you think these will be over the course of next week after the exeter game?
So is Cahill definately not our number one choice?
Thank you very much!
Massive fan of the site and you don't get enough praise! {Ed002's Note - There is little point in asking questions about the timing of events - if we know when things are going on we will keep you informed (as was done with the various moves for Aquilani). If not, we can all wait to see together.}

With Soto signed for Wolfsberg I can now see us certainly signing a CB since we now only have 3 experienced central defenders on our books. However we are now linked to both Craig Bellamy and Yossi.Both of them are turned 30 and FSG have a strict policy of not buying players of this age so I don't believe we'll be signing either of them!

22 Aug 2011 18:33:29
eds / macca do you think we will see a centre back coming in within the next few days with the grrek now gone

red fanatic {Ed002's Note - It has been suggested that Sebastian Coates will sign. WE do not know exactly when, or for exactly how much.}

Luganito (Coates) must have talent to be just twenty years old and to have made five apperences for uruguay first string, 10 apps for the u20 also 50+ apps for nacional (the same team suarez graduated from).

22 Aug 2011 18:26:49
What are the chances that we will make a late bid to tempt Juan Mata to Liverpool??

I was told at one point that he was seen as our Central Attactiving mid and find it hard to believe that we would allow him to move without a fight.

Interested to hear about Bellamy as well i wouldn't mind a bit more sharpness and quickness upfront or on the bench.

Looks like we are building a team that will cause Sir Alex some nervy and nauseous nights

Things are looking very good

LFC'S MANGO

I can't see Mata heading to Liverpool at this stage. The Chelsea deal is too far down the line for it to be considered likely, all that needs to be completed is a medical as personal terms are agreed. We missed any chance we had earlier in the summer. I think he will light up the PL and spark Torres back into life.

RedSG

Who is this mata..? And why hasn't anyone mentioned him before now..?
Never going to happen.. I don't have any inside sources or even a magic crystal ball but even I can categorically say that he there is more chance of Torres coming back on a free...

Myk

Are u for real about the mata thing

U mean bacon face

22 Aug 2011 18:22:14
all reds im old enough to remeber kenny signing aldridge houghton etc i wondered then who are these? i we soon found out! carroll henderson adam downing enrique great players! we are going to be awsome! lets get behind them! i started supporting our team on the back of defeat by aresnal in fa cup final many years ago back our boys sing chant blow them along on all our dreams! great red times ahead! godbless all reds! steviep48

Well said true red!!!!

At last some sense

ste liverpool

Well said u must be around the same age as me, it does piss me off the so called fans just slate our players ffs give them some time not just a few games

Love this post!!

billynwa

I'm afraid Jordan Henderson is no where near what could be regarded as a great player and certainly no where near the calibre of ray Houghton and john aldridge. I just hope kenny doesn't feel the need to play him every week to justify the inflated price we paid for him. On a more positive note, for the first time since john Barnes we look like we've got a strong left side again. Imo we've got every chance to push the big guns all the way this year if suarez can stay injury free. Onward and upward!

22 Aug 2011 18:14:32
OFFICIAL: Soto Krygiakos is a Wolfsburg player, confirmed on LFC TV

22 Aug 2011 18:10:36
Hi eds any idea how much we got for kygriakos?
Dan {Ed002's Note - I suspect nothing. I imagine he left on a free with no cost to Liverpool and him being provided a small signing on bonus equivalent to any meagre transfer fee.}

I was reliabley informed that we got an excellent offer for the greek it was in the region of 14p

22 Aug 2011 18:05:44
its 6pm,lfc tv just showing confirmation that the big greek soto has moved to wolfsburg for defo, not on front page of website yet.................
thx KOPKNIGHT

Not gr8 player,but cult figure.soft spot for kiryakos

22 Aug 2011 17:58:06
Hi Ed. Has there been any interest in Insua? Is likely to be sold/released like the rest of the surplus/fringe players?
The Goatherder
JFT96 {Ed002's Note - I am sure he would be available but I do not know of any interest.}

22 Aug 2011 17:57:03
Could be a good week..

Ins

Coates
Bellamy
Benayoun (no news sorry)

Outs
Ngog
Aquilani
Cole
The Greek

Insua (not sure)
Poulsen (not sure)

I believe Raul will stay and we will wait till Jan for a striker..

Cheers

Macca

{Ed002's Note - This is 100% pure Macca and should answer all open questions.}

This would be fantastic news in my opinion

Keep up the great work Macca, Your one of the reasons why i check this site repeatedly when i wantt to find out any rumours

Your the best

LFC'S MANGO

I totally agree, this is great news. However much we all think Bellamy is a little rascal, he has got explosive paste and annoys defenders and the rest of the opposition and should get us plenty of free kicks around the box as everyone wants to kick chunks out of him!! Also Yossi coming back is good news, granted he wont be in the starting 11 everyweek, he will be an impact player from the bench coz on his day his skill is amazing and he can score goals. Dont know much about Coates as i didnt watch the Copa Cup, but from what i have read he seems a very promising player.

Again, cheers Macca and the Eds, you do a proper job, keep it up.

JAD674

Coates would be great but if we sign Bellamy and benayoun I will be very disappointed neither are good enough and are too old in my opinion.

Killerpool

There is a belief in football not bring back previous players. Bellamy and Benayoun are previous players who were ok but not great.
Bringing back one is a risk two is crazy particularly Bellamy who is a nark.

I think Bellamy if fit would provide excellent cover. Obviously there is a fitness issue and what about his wages? I read recently that city were not allowing any player to go on loan on order to try and clear the decks

Howitzer

What about Cahill? Is there any interest? Cheers
Kenny2 {Ed002's Note - It has been suggested that interest in Cahill and Dann has waned.}

That wouldn't be a good week at all in my opinion...

If Bellamy has got some explosive paste then we shouldn't touch him with a barge-pole and maybe should alert the authorities at once. That aside, he'd be a decent squad-player and would give defences something else to think about. Same with Benayoun......but neither would be first choices I'd imagine.
Coates would be great from the little I've seen......6'5" tall, 21 yrs.old and a Uruguayan pal for Luis. He has also been linked in the past with many big European clubs so must have something about him.
There's a very good chance he's better than Sotirios Kyrgiakos !!!!!!
ANFIELDPETE

Really hope Raul stays and Coates comes in! Cheers for the info Macca
Drezperado

I'd be happy with these three. The only thing I fear is that one of the of the forward/midfielders is to cover Kuyt leaving.

In reply to ANFIELDPETE, i also believe that we should alert the relevant people of such substances as paste as there is no room for paste in football!! lol. However if he leaves the paste in cardiff i think he would be a good squad player and wouldnt cost alot, apart from his wages. Although i think Usain Bolt would be a better option as he is clearly alot quicker!!

JAD674

Coates looks good and huge potential. Benyoun and Bellamy wouldn't be happy with though.

If Kuyt leaves I would love to see us go for Mauro Zarate of Lazio. He wants to leave and Lazio are looking for a buyer so why not?

Kuyts 31 now and doesn't offer much after work rate. Zarate, Coates and a right winger of some calibre would e a great window for us. Think back 12 months and I wouldn't have believed you if you told me who we bought and sold/freed in this window.

I can understand interest in Coates, but why would we bring in Bellamy and Benayoun? It makes no sense what so ever!

If we are to bring in someone to get more strength in the attack, then bring in a winger like Payet, Perotti, Jeffren or Boudebouz, or perhaps a speedy forward like Ruiz or Lavezzi.

LFC for life

Bellamy is a striker :)
Really hope its true
D690

To the poster who said there's a belief in football not to bring ex player's back! Kenny's done it before!! remember Rushie! Alphared

Macca do you not think this could just be to give bolton a scare and make them sell cahill before the window closes

Fair play to you Macca, your info is all over the media now, keep it coming!

22 Aug 2011 17:54:24
Ed it has been confirmed that the quotes from kuyts agent are from last year when rafa was at inter and reliable people saying there is no interest now. Just passing it on in order to stop the rumour. Also would love coates he is quality {Ed009's Note - Thank you for this help. I was not sure if the interest had continued from last year in this instance.}

22 Aug 2011 17:29:47
Hi ED what the deal with these Sebastian Coates rumours? Any chance?

Thanks.

Matt. {Ed009's Note - I believe Suarez may well have recommended the player to the Liverpool board and there has been interest in the past. I was not aware that the deal was close to being done, let alone almost guaranteed, as Macca says. In this situation I must say it is his word you have to take. All I can say is that there is no reason why not, and certainly a chance.}

I personally think coates would be a great signing, iv watched him play a few times on tv.....21 years old, 6ft 5'' and hard as nails plus maybe get him for a good price.....sign him quick

22 Aug 2011 16:57:57
i should think with Sotirios Kyrgiakos leaving the club there seems no doubt we will be signing at least 1 centre back, we can't sell him and not sign a replacement, agger's injury record isn't great at all, then there skrtel, after that we would be very short in defence without another CB so i expect us to sign 1,
Sotirios Kyrgiakos only got a contract extension because he played enough games last season to trigger the extension clause in his contract, i hope we get either cahill or dann, both good young defenders, though it would be nice to see Dann sign and have another scouser in the team who will play for the club like he's die for it, could be a future carra !!!

There is also Danny Wilson, and Andre Wisdom also Martin Kelly can also play center back. Kenny does have a penchant for trusting the youth so we may wait until January to get the right deal for the club.

Graeme

We got youngster so called wilson...tat guy impressive man!!!

I don't think this season is the season to put trust in youth, we know flanno can do a job, and robinson, and kelly's an excellent RB, but i don't think kelly should be thrown in the middle of defence, wilson isn't up to scratch, we need really good cover for this position or a player who will fight agger and skrtel for a spot next to carra,

22 Aug 2011 17:16:50
hi- havent been on for a day or so and notice talk of Kuyt leaving, so too aqualini, and soto, whats goin on? {Ed009's Note - Aquilani and Soto were always likely to leave if an appropriate chance came up, especially in the case of the former. Milan and Wolfsburg are likely destinations. Kuyt is very unlikely to leave, despite Inter Milan's interest, as their enquiry was somewhat rebuffed.}

22 Aug 2011 17:00:04
ED do you have any further information on the Kuyt rumours? I read that apparently it was a dutch Newspaper/magazine printing an old story from last year by mistake (ie when Rafa was after Kuyt) EL P {Ed009's Note - they have asked after the player but that is all it is after e told them clearly that the player was not for sale. His agent is talking up a deal now in order to get himself a nice cut in the instance Kuyt does move. I doubt the player will leave but if a hefty bid is submitted, that could quite easily change.}

Im caught intwo minds on this one. Part of me thinks we could replace him with a more gifted winger/striker if we receive a substantial offer. The other part of me thinks, Kuyt is one of few players at Liverpool (especially foreign) who knows what we are about. There are a lot of games where i would rather have Kuyt playing, than some fancy dan who doesnt fancy it. With Kuyt is 100% all the time and that is a great quality. He is lso a massive dressing room influence. What do you think EDs? EL P

22 Aug 2011 16:49:48
Aquilani and Milan's negotiation is at advanced stage, reports said that they're now only waiting for the go ahead from Liverpool to confirm the deal.
Wednesday reportedly could be the day of the final decision. The details of the deal is pretty much what have been posted by Eds and Macca

22 Aug 2011 16:48:05
Ed002

I'd like to hear your comments on Sebastien Coates, Macca's latest news. How likely is he?
How much would he cost?

Hi all the bellamy rumour is true however harry redknapp is also in the frame for him if he can offload pavlichenko who is wanted by a few clubs in russia I would like to see bellamy back very pacy and good cross on him as proved in charity shield against chavs in cardiff we could have a great 3 pronged attack there but you know what rubber face redknapp is like he will try his best to get our targets

Would have a good link up with saurez vut hes a hot head remember

Ed do you agree with Macca that interest in Cahill/Dann has been dropped or do you think otherwise? {Ed002's Note - I don't know. I explained what I knew as of Thursday night with respect to Cahill. Certainly Coates is available but I am a little surprised that England (Manchester City or Liverpool) is a particularly viable option given it is so late in the window to move for the player - as he will require special international clearance. If he were to move to Europe a move to Italy would be the more likely. We know of interest from Porto, Juventus, Inter, Manchester City, Benfica, Shaktar, Lazio, AC Milan and now Liverpool. Shaktar's offer has already been rejected. AC Milan would would to loan him out for a year at least due to their quota problems. I am sure we will see later in the week, but Macca is clearly more up-to-date with this than I am.}

ED, I read that he has a European passport, would this not make International clearance easy?

MR EM {Ed002's Note - If it is an EU passport then there is no problem.}

He definitely holds a spanish passport

22 Aug 2011 16:33:15
A question for you Mr Ed,

Macca is trusted by most fans on the liverpool page, I was wondering if there are any trusted posters on the other pages.

Thanks for this great site {Ed002's Note - We have no intention of ranking posters.}

On reflection I realise that if you aswered that question it would just cause arguements. Sorry, wasn't meant to be a negative question at all

Not what he said ed002, he was just asking if there are other trusted sources on the other pages, its a simple yes or no question {Ed002's Note - I am not going to get in to this at all.}

22 Aug 2011 16:35:31
dan_bu
#LFC's Sotirios Kyrgiakos already trained with the team at Wolfsburg today, which should make a signing quite likely.

eds

just following on from macca's post about coates and bellamy...as mentioned, i have been hearing man city were after him were in with a real shout, have you heard anything on this? or do you think it could be us who get him?
bellamy coming back, id be happy with that..

cheers

Ray {Ed002's Note - I was aware of Manchester City having an interest, but not Liverpool.}

Ed002 - are the rumours of a bid from Inter for Kuyt just an old story from last year showing its self again?

YNWA jns {Ed002's Note - I don't know if it has gone any further than an enquiry to his agent if he would be interested in a move.}

I hope bellamy does not come back ! He's trouble and not a liverpool type player. I thought he was rubbish for us when he was a liverpool player. We wont get him but sturridge would be a 100 times more effective than bellamy

22 Aug 2011 16:24:06
Macca reckons we are in for Coates and bellamy, Would be great signings IMO. Bellamy would be a great squad player to have again, i can imagine him linking up well with carroll and suarez. If Kuyt leaves then all we need is a top quality right winger to complete the squad.. EL P

Brian Durand just retweeted something from @theemarkkelly, he said that Godin is coming then corrected himself and said Coates is coming. Have we found Macca's source?

More likely some guy is using Macca's info and saying it's his own, dunno if you tweet Macca but (unless you are Mark Kelly) I'd get onto him, it's not on.

Kop Chris

It happens all the time... Sources are gathered from other sources.. I take Macca's info and share it with friends on my facebook page. I don't think Macca minds (or does he,, lol)

Corkpoolred

I reckon Macca is Mark Kelly... Proof = Twitter Page... Their text type is similar and they posted at similar times, except the first post, Macca was quicker, the second one, Mark was quicker... So they cant be copying one another.

I have been trying to post for 2 days, the eds can back me up..

No idea who Mark Kelly is sorry..

Cheers

Macca {Ed009's Note - Macca is telling the truth.}

Of course Mark Kelly is Macca. Every single person I've ever known with the surname Kelly had the nickname Macca. Same as all the kids called Jones got the nickname Smigger. When I was a lad.

My contacts are within the club, and so I have it on good authority that the Kuyt to Inter rumour is very much a possibility..... Kuyt is prepared to leave as he wants to try his hand in Italy before he retires, although he's also happy to stay because he loves the club.

The deal hinges on the following:

If Man City sign Nasri as expected, Adam Johnson will be available for 12-15m. Kenny will then allow Kuyt to discuss terms with Inter and Johnson will be bought. If Wenger plays Nasri in CL City will look elsewhere, and I suspect any deal for Johnson will wait until January, unless someone comes in for him in the meantime. Kuyt would then not be sold.

The Kuyt, Inter Milan story is a year old

Samui LFC

Sorry mate your wrong with the Kuyt info - the Dutch website that first published this story have apologised as its an old story from a year back..That blows a hole in your contact !!

Http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-fc/liverpool-fc-news/2011/08/22/liverpool-fc-dirk-kuyt-inter-milan-link-is-one-year-old-story-100252-29283321/

Nasri joins and johnson goes??? why. is nasri a winger now? johnson wont go, more likely milner to go.

So now that it has emerged that the rumour was from last season and mistakenly posted by a dutch website does that confirm that you are lying

Believe me, the Kuyt link is there, regardless of what The Echo says. He's 31, he won't be a regular this season, which he knows, and this could be his last chance to play in Italy for a top club.

Yes, it depends on City signing Nasri. It's not a case of positions. It's about pecking order. Johnson doesn't get much of a look-in now, Mancini doesn't like him, and Nasri would be another player ahead of him.

Oh dear, another rumour fiend in our mists. So sad!!

JAD674

Who are we Middlesborough ?

Hi mate - i can 100% confirm that your "source" is feeding you rabbit droppings. The story is year old and im 99.9% sure that no one within our club has told you that rubbish.

Sorry mate it is Coates coming in not Godin, typing error mate, also a good chance of Bellamy as well..

Cheers

Macca

Sorry Macca but Bellamy relly is that the player that returning?

Even better still, this guy is a class act, im a massive fan of cahill, but this guy is one of only a few i would take over him, lets hope its true, as i heard city were sniffing around this guy..
cheers
Ray

Any news on benayoun?

Sebastian Coates, The Uruguayan kid, Right ?

Bellamy is also interest for sub forward position. {Ed009's Note - Yes, he was young player of the Copa America.}

Wouldnt be a bad back up striker at all.

Thanks for the info Macca

RobLFC

Both would be great signing. Coates looked immnese in the Copa America.. Bellamy could certainly do a job, can see him linking up well with Carroll and Suarez. If Kuyt Leaves, I hope we can get a top quality right winger then the squad is almost complete

Bellamy!? Is that instead of Benayoun? Really intriguing (and bizarre) stuff there Macca! Much appreciated as always though. What are your thoughts on the Kuyt situation out of interest?

Cheers for the info Macca, Coates looks a class act hope Chelski and Citeh don't hijack the deal. Bellamy would be a good back up just keep him off a golf course! Are we looking at Benayoun if Kuyt goes ED/Macca is that the plan?

Brownie YNWA

Fantastic news, thanks a million Macca!

He looks an absolutely cracking player- fingers crossed nothing goes wrong with this one

Which club is coates currently at? {Ed009's Note - Nacional.}

This was leaked on liverpool forums on the 4th august so you are a bit late on this one macca

Macca it may be true im being told but also im still pretty sure that cahil will sign.

Big difference in typing between Godin and Coates. MACCA who are you copying your info from i think i know, a little source on twitter !!!!!

22 Aug 2011 16:01:49
Ed, post on rumours because Im sure others will be wondering this too...

Macca, anything new on Benayoun? How likely is he to sign? And you heard anything on new strikers?

Cheers mate.

22 Aug 2011 15:48:22
We have dropped interest in Dann and Cahill for now..

Godin will sign if no last minute hiccups happen..

Aquliani will go on loan initially with a permanent transfer based upon appearances..

Cheers

Macca

Ed is this the genuine Macca ? cheers. {Ed009's Note - It is, DNA tested.}

Cheers for the info Macca :) Godin should be a good buy ;)

Thanks Macca.
Hope it happens, he looks like a good defender.

Interesting, if it's true

Sorry, what I meant was, if it works out.

Very, very interesting....i wonder why abandon the proven, british route, for this position and godin

How about Benayoun, Macca? Anything changed with that one?

Im pretty confidently informed that Cahill will sign. thanks
Hulkman

Great News if this is comes off macca godin is better then both if he settles okay. he twice the player of dann. Any more news on yossi? or ngog going? His poss replacement?

Keep us upto date macca

Wow, that is fantastic news!

Cheers Macca

maka

Ed, was the follow up message also from the real Macca, about it being Coates and not Godin?
{Ed001's Note - yes, I added that on for him.}

Northern Ireland is Britain! Thats if Macca is talking about Colin Coates {Ed002's Note - NI is the UK. And it is not Colin Coates.}

Eds,was it the real Macca that said Coates rather than Godin... and Bellamy too? {Ed002's Note - Yes that appears to be the case. As I see it Macca is saying Coates and a good chance of Bellamy. SO there is no point folks asking again.}

Coates got the Best young player award at copa '11. so that would mean LFC would have the Best player and best young player from that comp!! awesome scenes!!!

Coates is good news. No Bellamy, please.
Thanks for info, Macca.

Liverpool hope to raise £16+mil with player sales over the next few days. Dirk Kuyt is not exempt from a possible sale. Expect Scott Dann/Gary Cahill plus another striker to be signed by deadline day. Although If Adam Johnson becomes available in this next week, then KK/DC will break the bank to bring him to Liverpool.

Paul Rosenberg

The moment you said Dirk might be sold I couldn't believe you.
He just signed a new contract.

PITSILFC

Is this the same Adam Johnson that Downing kept out of the Middlesbrough team year after year ?

Haha how unfortunate "Paul Rosenburg" that you posted a matter of minutes before Macca came through with some news that totally contradicts part of your statement. Time will tell - who will be right??

I know who ill be putting my money on.

YNWA jns

3rd poster what do you mean downing kept johnson out of the boro team johnson was in the youth team when downing left you clown

I hope your right regarding johnson. wat a squad we would have.strength,speed and flair, quite formidable. should be a joy to watch

22 Aug 2011 15:11:38
Ed do u think there is any chance in liverpool bidding for sturridge now that they have mata {Ed009's Note - Chelsea's intention is to keep Sturridge. He is above a few other strikers in the pecking order, namely Kalou.}

22 Aug 2011 15:06:45
Hey Ed's, do you suspect Kuyt will be moving on in this transfer window? Thanks

Gary H {Ed009's Note - The player is certainly not on Kenny's shortlist of players to sell, but if a really sizeable offer came in I am not so sure that the reaction would be to keep him...}

Ed, do you know how much Inter have offered for Kuyt? thanks {Ed001's Note - they haven't made an offer, it was an enquiry.}

HE signed a new contract and will not leave.

PITSILFC

I would let him go if the offer is reasonable enough. Chips in with a few and works his socks off but he comes up short on overall quality for me and we can definitely do better. And need better to keep up with the rest and move forward

That was from a yr ago,it was a mistake from a dutch newspaper,kuyts going no where,jimmybosun,

As good as a servant Dirk has been to LFC he is now circa 30 and his sell on value to us and future clubs is non existant, let alone the wages he would expect given what he's on with us now. Best to keep him and use sparingly or when we're away from home at the top four.

22 Aug 2011 14:49:28
YOSSI BENAYOUN TWITTER from 20th August - states that he will know more about his future on wednesday - do you know if there is any chance Liverpool could be bringing him home?

Thanks as always

Jamie {Ed002's Note - There appears to be a chance.}

Why is this ED002 Has an enquiry been made? Or is he to be used in the Modric deal? {Ed002's Note - There is every likelihood he will be leaving Chelsea, erg, there has to be a chance.}

I heard he's part of the modric deal?

He's off to the spuds

We dnt need him, yossi is inconsitant and and after his comments wen he left chelski can keep him

Rather not if it means meireles goin to chelski otherwise a good squad player

22 Aug 2011 14:46:56
Kuyt for Inter There are players in the squad I would get rid of before him any day.

Remember Kuyt is 31 ... and we do not know what (if any) offer Inter have made: if it's approaching £10m, that's a no brainer for me.

Tarquin

They can have him if they want ........ for at least 20m

Euro 20m and Kuyt want to go then yes. and Thanks to him for the service he gave us.

According to twitter where the original quote came from these inter rumors are old and from quotes taken ages ago. We all know how reliable twitter is and some Dutch website put the old quote up without checking it which started all this crap

Tough choice, he won't be an automatic starter anymore, and he is 31 now, but always had an impact in bigger games, but will he be happy with that role? Depends on the size of the offer, if a good offer came in I think it's worth considering as this would be the last chance we have to make a good return on him

Dirk has always given 110% in a liverpool shirt and always chips in with his share of goals. He's a good hard working honest player and there the kind of players you hold on to.

22 Aug 2011 14:44:44
Ed in your personal OPINION, do you think Lfc may go ahead and put a bid in for Cahill before the window closes? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Yes I think they probably will. As of Thursday night there had been discussions but no offer. I suspect others may come a calling on him as well.}

Hopefully not.

22 Aug 2011 14:40:27
If a deal for Liverpool's Drik kuyt dose go through Kenny Dalglish will look to bring in Ezequiel Lavezzi as replacement before the transfer windows closes on September 1st.

An offer for Euro 18m alredy been place for Lavezzi. Liverpool can make offer £20m Lavezzi is very fast in right wing and that will give suarez a very good attacking option.

A terribly over rated player

Have to laugh at the over rated comment. He'd be a great signing. But 20 million might buy his right boot.

Terribly over rated, are you having a laugh, he's as good as Aguero on his day.

22 Aug 2011 14:26:12
Ed, whats the latest on Hazard because Arsenal seem to think they have agreed terms of around 23m. Is it true? thanls wheeler92 {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that no deal has been done but we do know of an an-going interest from Arsenal. Lille quoted a price of "30M euro or more" for the player.}

Ed002: do you think it likely that LFC will move for Hazard if Kuyt leaves for Inter - or can it be that KD feels he don't need a player of Hazard's type right now (for that amount of money anyway)? Many thanks -red norwegian- {Ed002's Note - I think a move for Hazard is unlikely, and even if there were, I suspect persuading him to move would be very difficult. He has stated his desire to play in the Champions League, and to play for either Barcelona or Real Madrid. Chelsea took a look and the advice to the management is that there is an attitude issue as well.}

Ok. Thank you very much for your full view -rn-

22 Aug 2011 14:04:55
Soto to Wolfsburg to be announced soon... Surely we'd make a move on a CB now ed? {Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation.}

22 Aug 2011 13:53:18
ed do you no of any news about gary cahill {Ed009's Note - Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs have enquired after the player, although a bid from Spurs would likely be wholly reliant on Modric leaving. Liverpool have had the most extensive talks out of those three clubs but no bid has been made as of yet. I am reliably informed that Chelsea may yet throw their hat into the ring.}

22 Aug 2011 13:37:42
EDS Kuyt's agent has said they have received an interesting offer from Inter Milan may liverpool sell Kuyt? {Ed002's Note - I don't think there was an intention to, and it would be certain that a right sided striker would need to be bought in quickly. I guess a possibility.}

I doubt Kenny would sell Kuyt unless a world class replacement was attainable.

I rally hope we don't sell kuyt. We'd miss him more than some supporters realise

Actually, with Kuyt at 31 years maybe it would do him good with a change. Also, I think LFC can benefit from this depending on who they can bring in of course - he's not easy to replace thats for sure. -red norwegian-

Actually kuyt looked a bit dodgy i the arsenal match so if that hasn't put inter off then i'd say go ahead with the deal Lavezzi would be a class replacement or maybe hazard or carzola could play in that position (only coincidence that they all have z in their names

Let's not start this about Kuyt now. Please give it a rest. It's official; every liverpool player has been mentioned on here and several idiots have said 'oh we could get a better replacement'. Balls - he works harder on the pitch than just about anyone else in the league. He's a legend and he ain't going anywhere. End of

The news is in Talksport

Can go only if we replace him with Hazard or Lavezzi

Rumour has it we may be interested in Doyle from Wolves, this lad is very good, he would be much better up front than Carroll and his style of play would suit Suarez better. Buy him and sell Carroll back to the Geordies.

Doyle is smokescreen Matt Jarvis is the real target

redmeanmachine from malaysia

Give carroll a chance dalglish wouldnt pay 35m for him if he wasnt worth it

Redmeanmachine from malaysia: how do you know? Or is it just wishful thinking? To the original poster: what a tasteless insult towards AC and to KD and LFC for believing in him. -red norwegian-

The geordies had a right laugh at us when they mugged with the price when we bought him. Do you seriously think their going to let us mug them straight back? No chance big lad, no chance. (And for the record i like him as a player but just too much money for an unproven talent. And before the keyboard warriors start, 1 season doesn't make the lad a proven talent)

Irish RED

Tend to think carrol=mistake.but would say give him couple more months before deciding thats the case

Why do they let dickheads post crap carrols gonna be a major star for us give him a chance

What a load of toss The spam paid 30 million for an unproven Rooney and nobody said a thing.Yes Carrol was dear but remember technically Chelski paid for him through the Torres deal. Carrol is English and will score goals for fun . Give the lad time.

What is it about so called Liverpool fans being obsessed with how much money has been spent on players.

Getting really p*ssed off with "so called" fans slagging Carroll off. With a bit more luck he would of had 2 goals by now. (1 against sufc, never a freekick against ferdinand and 1 against AFC, good header/save)
Get off his back and support the team or f*** and support someone else
I

Sick of seeing clueless idiots slag Carroll off. He'll be a major player for us and is a full international. The guy is 22- not worth 35 mil yet but I have no doubt he will be. He's played about 6 games fully fit for us in the league and got 2 goals. The more him downing, Adam and Suarez play the better you'll see of him. So shut the f*** up and give him time.

I can't believe how quick some people make a decision on a player. He has only played 6 games for LFC, give the bloke a chance remembering he is just coming back from a fair lay off with injury

Honestly guys let's get off the lads back! Yes 35mil is a lot of money but he's young, talented, strong and he's not a slow player! Also if you have watched the games (as I'm sure you haven't) he's had two goals called back because of small pushes, that would NOT have been called if he was the one being pushed.

Give the kid a chance and I'm sure he'll shine. Plus at least we didn't spend 50mil on a whinging spaniard who couldn't score in a brothel (i know its bad I couldn't think of anything witty)

Thank YOU!

Some people post sum tosh! if you was a proper fan you would remember the signings of Kuyt and Hyppia when they first played for us, they didnt set the world on fire but developed into great players who give their all, Carroll is very much like that, if u'd played the game at any kind of level you would see that!

Doyle's a criminally under-rated player imo, and I think at this moment in time, he's a better all rounder than Carroll, although he's not a great goalscorer. I'd be made up if we signed him. That said, Carroll will ultimately mature into the better player. Give him time.

Those of us with a few years of supporting LFC behind us will remember how awfull a young Ian Rush was the first year or 2.

Give the lad time.

22 Aug 2011 11:02:14
Morning Ed's, I read in a previous post from someone that they believe it is a good idea for meriles to be sold to chelsea in exchange for Sturridge, in all fairness I believe this is a bad idea because as you witnessed from the Aresenal game, Raul is still very much interested in playing for us, and although Sturrdige played well last season he is yet to be prooven at a big team. What is your opionion on this? {Ed002's Note - I refer you to earlier answers.}

In all fairness as you say, Carroll wasn't proven in a big team and cost a tonne more than Sturridge would do in this deal. In fact I think Sturridge proved more last season than Andy Carroll did on the pitch.

Ild rather keep meireles,however agreed with swop at time,cos meireles position at time seemed untenable

22 Aug 2011 10:40:28
Aquilani deal has been agreed with AC Milan, a year long loan with a £5m option to buy in June. Aquilani will receive a 1m euro pay off from Liverpool. So around a £4.2m return, not great but at least he is finally gone.

Uncle Malcolm. {Ed002's Note - You need to be careful not to jump the gun Syd. Perhaps read what I wrote yesterday on the subject. I suspect it'll be a day or two yet.}

Why is it the we getting so little for aqa deal when we paid so much for him, why do we have to pay him off wen he wants to leave so much, to me this just adds fuel, to my thoughts back when we bought, there is a hell of a lot more gone on with alonso deal than meets the eye, so the way its all worked out we have 5 million for alonso {Ed002's Note - A little less if the projected figures are correct as 300k euro will be going to Roma - so 4.7M euro seems about it. Liverpool could well negotiate this up a bit though.}

Only sharing what I have been told mate. Apparently this was agreed in principle last night.

Uncle Malcolm. {Ed002's Note - There were no discussions about it last night - you need to read my post regarding what is on the table. There are discussions beginning today.}

I hope this is not true. 5m, it'd be ridiculous to lose him for that sum.

These loan deals for Aqua are beginning top wind me up. We'll be in exactly the same position next season. {Ed002's Note - There is no deal for a loan deal at the moment. Just wait and see what happens.}

Take no notice I know for fact AC Milan always send 2 guys with Sicilian connections and a suitcase full of money (10Mil) to Do a Deal the Italian Way ;)
kidmillions

The problem is that Aquilani wants to go back to Italy - so the number of clubs that we can sell him to is greatly reduced. Of the top flight Italian teams there is only 3 or 4 who he would want to go to or could afford him so this means we are at a disadvantage and the buying team have the upper hand in any price negotiations. This is the risk when sign foriegners.

JRG

Why are we paying him off ? he wants to leave so he should lower his f'n wage im so confused ... right now aquaman is a lady good bye aquawoman

Keep him if we are going to lose that much money, the italians are too cheap then f#@K them , aqua will have to stay, another player in the squad quality too

22 Aug 2011 10:32:08
Ed's is there any truth in the Krygiakos link to wolfsburg? and also are talks for cahill or Dann more advanced? {Ed002's Note - Yes, it is very likely that Kyrgiakos will move to Wolfsburg.}

22 Aug 2011 10:16:50
Can everyone please relax, we have spent good money this year. We now have quality coming off the bench There will probably be more activity with a cb and maybe a striker. CB will be between Dann and Cahill.
Striker looks like Doyle (not a bad player, strong and a good finisher) Please stop with this crap of signing Hulk, Benzema, Higuain and so on We dont have that money to spend or that type of pocket for wages And i for 1 dont waana be like city or Chelski. If there is any more info Maca will post. Great job on th esite Eds and i pity the amount of crap you have to filter
YNWA
REDMAN87

Good post REDMAN87..CB is what we need over a striker..and if we do Kevin Doyle would be a gr8 addition

If we don't have the money or CL football to offer,we should then wait till next summer instead of buying mediocre players like Doyle.He scored 15 goles in 2 seasons,and he's supposed to be a quality for Liverpool.

Rodellaga not Doyle

I am as relaxed as they come redman, but there has only been two games played so it remains to be seen how well the money has been spent in comparison to other teams, time and games will tell. i am not being defeatist, on the contrary i am quietly confident that we can do something this season, just keeping my feet on the ground for the time being.

You're posting as if you are certain that Doyle will definitely sign. Where were you with this rumour a couple of days ago when you would have been posting it first? I suspect that you are just jumping on the bandwagon now. As an Ireland fan I think Kevin Doyle is a great centre forward with a fantastic attitude and work ethic.

However I believe that we need a little more pace up front, something that Kevin doesn't possess.

My uncle was a season ticket holder at Wolves last season, and says Doyle is the most frustrating striker they have. He often does the simple things badly and the difficult things well. Of the Wolves strikers he rated Steven Fletcher a lot higher than Kevin Doyle.

He thinks Liverpool would be better off moving Kuyt upfront, and instead bid for Matt Jarvis over Kevin Doyle.

RedSG

The laboured victory against vastly under strengthed arsenal,with all their pros,proves peole right to want more additions.and of pace at that

Not spending at this time and not having money to spend are two completely different things

Hey eds;
Sorry for continuing a theme, but out of Cahill, Dann and Shawcross, who do you feel we have the best chance of signing? Or do you think we're going to go for a cheaper European option like Hummells or Subotic? {Ed002's Note - It would be guess work to say who is most likely. I don't think there is any chance of Subotic or Hummels arriving at Liverpool. An outside chance of Mertesacker but Arsenal and PSG are interested. I think Shawcross is unlikely as well.}

I don't think hummels or subotic would be cheaper options personally i think they'd cost more...

ed i'm sure i aint the only one in wanting us to sign podolski, wat r the chances of him cumin {Ed002's Note - I don't see any chance of Podolski going to a club where he cannot be sure of a starting place - it could well put his international career at risk. Spurs and Arsenal had shown an interest but I expect him to move to Turkey with Galatasary of possibly he will take the easy option of staying in Germany with Dortmund.}

I NEVER GET ED,OR ANYONE ELSE TALKING BOUT GUARANTEED STARTING PLACES.IF A PLAYER HAS FAITH IN HIS ABILITY,THROUGH EXPERIENCE,LIKE PODOLSKI.WHY CANT HE WIN A STARTING PLACE?IE AT MO IN PLACE OF CARROL

I WOULD LOVE PODOLSKI AT LIVERPOOL TBF, BUT NEVER GONNA HAPPEN. HOPE KUYT DONT GO

ed wat happened to the paddy mccourt rumours, decent bakup to downing {Ed002's Note - I am sorry, but I know of no interest. I suspect MOTD Fever.}

Does scottish football have MOTD? :P

Can't see how you rate Paddy as a decent back-up..he can't even make the Celtic team..and lets be honest, the SPL is becoming a joke where most of the teams would struggle to complete in the championship

McCourt is woefully inconsistent, he was in Ireland until he was 25 for that reason. Also, he apparently has fitness problems which is why he hardly ever plays more than 45 minutes for Celtic. Link was nonsense, I suspect.

And he's rubbish too....

Stevieslaces

I have it from a reliable source with the initials LM that paddy mccourt will be world player of the year this year.

Morning all, I don't usually post and ask about rumours but I just wanted some clarification.

I personally dont believe a back up striker will be signed (although I'd certainly love one) But Ed in your opinion if a back up striker was to indeed sign, would you say Kevin Doyle is one of our first choices? As I read Ed002 say perhaps he was an option, however do you believe we have substantial interest in signing him?

Thanks again Eds
Hooch. {Ed002's Note - I don't know that there is substantial interest. But as I said he is an option with the revelation about Park Chu Young.}

YEA PARK CHU YOUNG SITU GONE QUITE.WHY DONT WE JUST GO AND GET/b4 arry does lol

22 Aug 2011 09:36:40
ed ssn sayin borriello 4 sale from roma, do u think he cud be gud 4 bak-up.

he is cup-tied so many european clubs wouldn't go in for him. n after european clubs we r the next big thing. i think we all agree on dat n we all agree dat if ngog moves on and pcy goes to lille we need a bak up striker {Ed002's Note - It is tough to see him moving to Liverpool to sit on the bench.}

No, thanks. Not another Italian player after the Aquilani fiasco, ffs Lfc should steer clear of these Italians.
I am quite happy with local players if only to avoid what we are going through with Aquaman.

Ed it seems like we are finally being able to ship out the deadwood eg aquilani(milan) soto(wolfsburg) Poulson(copenhagen) cole(qpr) etc. Do you think that may clear up the wage bill for us to bring in another top attacker as well as a centre back. I have family who are red sox fans and they say that FSG love deadline day deals so do you think we could see a couple eg cahill and honda? {Ed002's Note - I think there is certainly effort being made for a CB. Honda seems unlikely after Liverpool did not follow up previous interest in January and his price has now doubled - although he is not having a good season.}

Agree thats whats needed

22 Aug 2011 09:19:32
Matt Jarvis to Liverpool

redmeanmachine from Malaysia

I doubt that matt jarvis would move to liverpool while under a long term contract. Maybe next summer though. Would be a good signing though

22 Aug 2011 09:10:59
Liverpool to sell Aquilani, Poulsen, Cole and Ngog to fund Richards deal. You heard it hear first

We hear it 1st from who? Oh and I don't believe it for a second

Had a couple of decent games has he
He'll be back on the injury list soon
Never plays a full season. No Thanks No Chance

Hi eds. Word on the streets is citys richards is a potential target if dann and cahill bids fail. any truth in this? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware of - I will see if I can find something out.}

Hi eds and all reds we bid for richards in jan at 20 mill i still think he wud be kk 1st choice but would we go higher and would richards leave cl club?

22 Aug 2011 08:57:40
liverpool about to bid 10mil for kevin doyle wolves,Ifor one hope we do get him he is strong on the ball, and scores some great goals .think he would do well with carroll .

£10 million for a back up striker? No goddamn chance

Doyle's laughed off speculation linking him to juventus arsenal and liverpool, seems he's happy at wolves

Morning Eds,
I've read this morning that we are looking at a swap deal with Meireles going to Chelsea and us getting Daniel Sturridge in return
I think this is plausible as Meireles is only seemingly going to play a bit part in our midfield and with us only having Ngog as back up striker I think Sturridge would jump at the chance

What's your thoughts?

LFCRule {Ed002's Note - I don't see any chance of it happening. The article is from last week and is based on a blog entry.}

I for one would love to see Mereiles stay, he seems to almost have a telepathic understanding with Suarez, a partnership we should keep I dont see why we cant make a straight cash deal for Sturridge as a replacement for Ngog, after all we need a speedy attacker coming off the bench, he can operate as a right sided attacker and i beleive he is surplus to Chelsea after signing Lukaku and Mata Would be good for him and us, not sure how much they would want for him though, but we should have about 9 mill following the sales of Ngog and Aquillani

docsam {Ed002's Note - Sturridge is not surplus at Chelsea.}

Why don't we buy Sturridge? Well because Chelsea don't want to sell him and he's repeatedly said he wants to be a first choice player not a bench warmer coming on for 15 mins

I reckon we should buy sturridge - he will displace carroll in the long run...

22 Aug 2011 08:46:50
Mornin eds any truth to merieles swap for sturridge? As much as I'd lik to see sturridge ply for us, I would rather us keep raul, cheers {Ed002's Note - No. The article is from last week and is based on a blog entry.}

Morning Ed,

havent been on all weekend..i have to say watching the arsenal game i was very impressed with enrique..he played quality was so refreshing to see us with an actual proven LB :) and when luis and raul came on the last 20 minutes we destroyed them..it was great to see quality come off the bench for a change and really change the game.

anyways from what i'm seeing from all over the web:

Cahill is our number 1 target for the CB position but of course it will be hard to get him before saturday seeing as were playing them, shawcross seems to be our 2nd choice and Dann our third.

just passing on what i've seen and an so you dont need to keep repeating yourself.

Not a rumour just my own peferance we should buy Cahill 12-13mill add Ngog separately, carragher to show him the Liverpool way this season then when carra decides to hang up boots he SHOULD be a defensive coach at Lfc sorted replacement and another legend stays

22 Aug 2011 05:52:55
Ed002

1. If Dann goes to Arsenal as seems likely; Cahill moves to Chelsea; Shawcross is swooped for by Spurs and Mertasacker stays in Germany, what are our other options?
(Perhaps a last minute mega bid made for one of Godin and Rolando?)

2. If Park Chu Young does move to Lille; what are our other options?
(Perhaps a last minute mega bid for one of Higuian, Hulk, Llorente and Benzema?)

*rupertnorth'sxpertanalysis* {Ed002's Note - (1) I suspect if all of the other players move, then Liverpool will not do anything until January. (2) A complication has arisen in respect of Park Chu Young that may see him go on loan this season until it is resolved. I don't think Liverpool have the money to be bidding for the likes of Hulk I am afraid. Perhaps Kevin Doyle.}

22 Aug 2011 04:51:30
Hi eds. Any news on that young mexican striker Bueno moving to the club? Saw reports earlier in the summer claiming he will join in mid august for a fee of £5 million but haven't heard anything yet? thanks. {Ed002's Note - He signed a pre-contract agreement. He is not able to move until he is 18.}

22 Aug 2011 01:48:57
eds is their any chance of liverpool signing hugo rodallega {Ed002's Note - I understand that there is interest from a number of clubs including Liverpool and Spurs.}

Quick good on his day.kenny have to get outve him more regular

22 Aug 2011 01:48:56
yo macca is it still between Cahill and Dann or other any new targets.

22 Aug 2011 00:46:34
Liverpool's Alberto Aquilani will sign for AC Milan by Thursday - agent

Thanks A.A's agent..
You could have been out of here a long time ago if you'd not f**ked about saying all that crap..

Myk

It must be true then, if Aqualani's agent says so

21 Aug 2011 23:48:28
Ed, are the rumours that are flying round that Stevie G is finished, may only get 10-15 games a season out of him true? {Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware.}

Gerrard will be back for wolves game

The rumours are started by empty heads
JJ blackpool

TRUE, 20 GAMES MAX. HEARD FROM AC.

Gerrard is doing fine cappelo sayed he started training 2 weeks back and will be 3 weeks away from returning now stop all this rubbish hes done

This rumour wouldn't surprise me, maybe that's why KK has been so focused on bringing in midfielders during the transfer window, as he knows he cannot rely on Gerrard for the full season.

When questioned on how SG is getting on regarding fitness didnt kenny say 'brilliant' ed? i for one cant wait to have him back he'll be like a new signing :)

YNWA
RobLFC

Have no idea what these rumours are all about - yet I fear myself, that it might be the case.
He does seem to have more than a hard time shaking off those groin problems. I would certainly wish he went back to full fitness gain though - only 31. Heck, I'm 31 one. Would like to see him have 2-4 good years left.

/DanishKopite

I for one hope not,but the way he's put his body on the line for us over the years,it would'nt suprise me one bit.

I dont know why you guys cant accept the fact gerrard is f***ed hes never goin to reach previous fitness levels and will PROBABLY only play 15-20 games. it is true, why do you think we have a bout a million midfielders and why do you think it keeps taking longer to get better. i have even heard this from liverpool players.
tbh its good tha we cant rely on gerrard anymore, hopefully will turn us into more of a team. (or maybe rely on suarez instead now haha)
carlos85

If he is finished how can he play 10-15 games, typically blue nose rumour that has been doping the rounds for some weeks

All pure conjecture Nothing else Anyone spouting he's finished only play 15 games a season Are just making themselves look foolish "Can anyone truly say they are able to see round corners" Don't think so So give it a Rest
