Marco Rojas has agreed a 5 year deal with LFC, worth £20,000 per week plus bonuses. I am not privvy to the bonus structure. So far, the plan is to let him play his last game for Melbourne against LFC, before any official announcement is made. SHANKS767. ( can't log in )

For the unbelievables, get back to me in August. SHANKS767. ( still can't log in )

No he hasn't and if he did then he'll be another waste because he's not good enough

His already left Melbourne

He just isn't good enough - he had half a dozen good games for the Victory about a third of the way through the season and then his form fell away and anyone trying to compare the A League with the PL is seriously deluded

Sydney ex-pat Red

It's a bit too simplistic to just compare leagues don't you think? I mean raheem sterling came from where before started his journey to the first team? are we then to compare his former league with the prem league. We all know rojas won't step into the first team, but maybe he would have the goods down the track?

God I hope not. the only thing I like about this lad is his decision making, knows when to pass, when to shoot etc. Unfortunately I just don't think he's got the rest.

you have no idea. What a load of rubbish. I know an ex Melbourne Victory player and after all these Rojas rumours I haven't once thought to get in contact with him to ask about the Rojas rumour. Because its so far fetched and really is a joke to me. A good player in the A league but an average one in league 1. Now that is a fact. If you want me to msg the bloke and I'll ask so this rumour gets put to bed I will. I'll even take screen shots of the msg and post in pictures. I'm not trying to talk myself up but sometimes these crumby posts need to be put in there place.

To the person who said it is too simplistic to compare leagues. yes it is but that isn't what I was doing. I was at a seminar a few years back and Jacquet, the ex French national coach was talking about football in australia and was taking wquestions from the audience. Someone asked him about the then (recently formed A League and if he thought it would improve Aussie soccer. His answer was that it was a step in the right direction but that players still didn't have 'technique at spped'. Someone asked him what he meant and his response was really interesting. He said that lot of players in Australia have very good technique but only if they are not place under pressure - the technique deserts them when the game is played at a higher pace. At the time he aid that the only player who could rely on his technique if the game was played at a very high tempo was Harry Kewell. About 7 or 8 years later o me it is still the same. Give the lad in question a bit of time and 7 times out of 10 he will cause trouble to the opposition, put him under pressure and that ratio will fall. At 21 unless he is a late developer he may have missed the boat. I don't have anything against the lad personally - I've necer met him - but he would struggle to force his way into any PL side on a regular basis.

Ed02 I'm just curious to how Liverpools reputation gets damaged from this? Isn't it clear to anyone with half a brain cell that Liverpool is this case can not have done anymore then possibly sell him (even though every club would have him in there team) so surely people would look more at suarez rather then the club?

Also just curious to why daglish reputation got damaged? I think suarez owes a lot to him for having stuck up for him but as a manager ofcourse your going to do that and as well both daglish and Rodgers saying he's actually a nice guy off the pitch (see that in the interview) surely that's why daglish defended him?

I just think it's unfair as a club we should get punished obviously suarez needs to and hopefully he takes the anger management courses. I still find it ironic our fans who say YNWA constantly have just completely turned on our best player it's embarrassing.

London red {Ed002's Note - I am rather surprised that it is so tough to realise how the reputation of the club and Dalglish could ever have been damaged by Suarez. Putting aside Dalglish losing his job and reputation because of Suarez, let's consider the impact in the press,to the sponsors and with the FA just for a moment. The club is not directly being punished by what will ahppen - but Suarez will have yet again fucked with everone around him. If you think this can continue, fine.}

Eric Cantona, Joey Barton, Balotelli, Kieron Dyer, Lee Bowyer, Zidane, Roy Keane. It's been going on for years.
Im not condoning Suarez's behaviour but let's not blow it out of proportion either.

Which sponsors want to be associated with a club who are always in the paper for wrong reasons and are not even a top4 side, Standard Chartered had warn Liverpool before about Suarez, but yet Suarez continues his antics, or which sponsors, investors would want to be associated with a club who have players behave like that and are not even top4 side, if Standard Chartered pull the trigger Liverpool are going to regret and will be tough attracting new sponsors with that kind of amount or run the club.

Folks don't forget Suarez nearly cost us 20-25M for his stupid and foolishness and yet he hasn't learned and wants to bring more problems for the club.

Sponsors who realise what a worldwide 'brand' we are? Maybe.

Lets get this straight Dalglish was the downfall of Dalglish. it was an easy decision to make for the Owners because 60-70% wanted Kenny out

The other thing if it did come down to players being the reason as to why Dalglish was sacked then you have to look no further than the £35million, £20million & £20million price tags which paid for Carroll, Downing and Henderson.

He over paid £20m for carroll, over paid £5m for Downing and over paid £10m for Henderson

you guys can think i'm talking bull but for what downing has given to the team it would have made better economical sense to just hang on to Babel

it huge mistakes like that which kenny his job. {Ed002's Note - Performance was one issue - as I explained at the time - Suarez was the other.}

Eds, would this sort of behaviour not put off potential suitors? If it's damaging to our club, then surely it would be damaging to other clubs? Why would anyone want to take a risk on a player who's behaviour record is pretty infamous.

Yeah I can see how the sponsorship would work but I didn't say it could continue but he obviously has some issues. You keep blaming suarez for messing up daglish and our club but on the other hand he's done the biting thing before and has been trouble before so the club knew exactly what they were investing into with suarez so they knew this could happen. The same with daglish he didn't have to back up suarez so he made the choice to put his status on the line and it backfired

Standard Chartered will be ecstatic.
This was headline news on CNN!
It trended worldwide on twitter!
Suarez is constantly in the newspapers.
Do you think they'll be looking to sponsor a "safe" team like West Brom?
Who is the most popular snooker player?
Ronnie O'Sullivan.
He threatens to quit the game, has admitted taking drugs, he's volatile etc.
If he stopped playing the popularity of the game would sink even further in to obscurity.
No matter what he does they need him to play to keep the public interested.

This incident has been blown out of all proportion.
Yes he did something wrong.
And he will be punished.
But it's not the first time it has happened in a sporting event.
And it won't be the last.
But are you telling me that the Premier League are not slapping each other on the back because this incident has gone round the world and even made headline news in America?
If you think that then you are very much deluded.

Is this the same standard charterd who were laundering money for iran. Give me suarez any day of the week

The likes of Barton was thrown out by QPR like Rogers says no player can be allowed to become bigger than the club. Fergusson has long been faulted for backing thugs like Keane and Cantona and rightly so. The club should actively show they do not support this kind of behaviour from any player. As for sponsors pulling out it's financial sense CT offered more than other potential suitors so to lose that sponsorship would be detrimental to the finances of the club. Dalglish failed on more than one issue but this was a contributing factor and BR needs to really take that into consideration. ( Forest Fan )

How on earth suarez can be blamed for dalglish getting sacked baffles me it was the ELEVEN players on the pitch not just suarez who got the results which turned us into a midtable team and it was kenny who bought them. suarez is an easy target I know the biting thing is not right but luis will always stand up for himself. ivanovic had been trying to kick lumps out of luis from the start of the game and as for sponsors I didn't see all man utds sponsors walking away from them when cantona kung fu kicked a women and a lad in the crowd. sponsors know what's good for them and will still be queing up to be part of LFC. and just to finish on I see tv have not been to keen on showing evra biting the false arm at old trafford last night they are so biased towards LFC its unbelievable if that was the other way around they would have had the HD cameras on it and gary neville with close ups telling us how wrong it was to be making a joke of it JFT96 YNWA

It's well known in business circles that Gillette had to give David Beckham a large bonus after his affair with Loos as their brand of razors sales increase over 20% in the 3 months following.
Liverpool can turn this around easily, if they send Suarez to anger management classes etc. I will be horrified however is Suarez's ban lasts longer than ben Thatchers from the F. A, if it does, I don't think the F. A will have painted itself in a good light either.

The fact that this is a repeat offence has to be taken into account all the other misdermeaners brought by other players is irrelevant. This was an act of stupidity and needless violence and can't be justified by any right thinking person. BR should be dissassociating himself from Suarez and if other teams want him take the money before he gets too long a ban that will not help LFC. Anger management will not help when the first thing they will suggest is to remove yourself from situations which cause the temper and that would be football, no retaliation is acceptable this is the referees job.

Obviously not going to condone what Suarez did but love how no one in the ferguson-arse licking media has even bothered to mention the fact that when suarez bit ivanovic the serb was in fact fouling him in the box.

Suarez is our best buy since Barnes. He plays with consistancy and passion week in week out.

The biggest mistake that makes LFC look stupid is the fact that we just fined him. Surely LFC should have banned him for the rest of the season (4 games) then he could have gone away and sorted his head out and the persons at the FA could add another few games on for him to miss at the start of next season, if they see fit. Is it down to a lack of balls from Ian Ayre? I think he needs to go back to commercial work and we need someone else in to do his job. Not banning Luis and just waiting for the FA's punishment stinks of bad management to me. Even Utd banned Cantona for 4 months until the FA stepped in and added more games on! Utd with more principles than us, brilliant just what we need!

Hi ed's seeing as there is a committe that make the transfer decisions at Liverpool, who makes the final decision on who's brought and sold. and does that mean the manager is more of a head coach rather than a manager. {Ed002's Note - If it is going to work, the committee will jointly decide that the club wish to progress interest in a player and will no doubt discuss the costs (transfer, wages, relocation etc.. }

The manager wil be head coach. Like it or not, the role of the manager is changing in England. Rodgers will request players and the owners' representatives will have the final say

22 Apr 2013 17:41:14
Will a possible (pretty definite) Suarez ban have any effect on Big Andy's future? {Ed002's Note - None.}

22 Apr 2013 16:34:06
I know that the obvious reason Ayre was on his way to Australia would have been the tour, but he is the Managing Director and in charge of hiring players and negotiating player contracts. Marco Rojas anyone?

22 Apr 2013 15:16:00
Eds have Lfc considered looking at Emanuel Emenike? {Ed001's Note - no idea if we have considered looking at him, but I don't know of any scouts looking at him on our behalf.}

22 Apr 2013 14:55:03
Eds are Liverpool interested in Leandro Damiao {Ed002's Note - No.}

We Should offer them £22M as I now think Suarez will be shown the door.

22 Apr 2013 14:31:31
Hi eds, Where do Liverpool stand in relation to 17 French ligue goals so far striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang? {Ed002's Note - Nowhere at this time. After a year or so St Etienne Aubameyang has attracted the attention of Fiorentina, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Zenit St Pete, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Spurs and PSG, probably amongst others. He has said in the past the one day his dream would be to return to play with a great Milan side. I understand that if a significant bid is made that St Et will give it due consideration. Such a bid is being pondered by Chelsea and by Fiorentina, and I suspect Manchester City will look again as an alternative to Jovetic.}

How could chelsea be interested if they don't even have a manager for next season yet? {Ed001's Note - the manager doesn't choose the players, as they don't have one, they have a head coach instead.}

22 Apr 2013 13:49:44
Hi eds are Liverpool interested in Burak Yilmaz by any chance as he would definately fit in to our tyle of play? {Ed002's Note - Burak Yilmaz has attracted interest in the past year from Sevilla, Spurs, Fulham, Dortmund, Beyer Leverkusen and Newcastle. There are also unconfirmed rumours of interest from Liverpool dating from as long ago as early June. Lazio and Lokomotiv Moscow spoke with the player in January after the clubs agreed that they would meet the asking price from Galatasaray - but that has now risen with his recent performances. Chelsea were quoted a very significant fee when enquiring recently. Atletico Madrid remain very keen to discuss a move for the player but might struggle to finance a deal at the price now being asked.}

22 Apr 2013 13:43:44
If Martin Skrtel and Coates leave I think Yaroslav Rakitskiy (Shaktar Donetsk) and Inigo Martinez (real sociedad) is good replacement any change of that {Ed002's Note - Yaroslav Rakitskiy has been linked with Barcelona for more than two years. I don't see a move to Liverpool this summer but he could be available. If Real Sociedad decide to sell Martinez he will be expensive. Roma, Zenit, Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid have shown some level of interest or other in him.}

I think jamie carraghers son as a good replacment

I think we could look at Shawcross at Stoke. I think that despite their poor season, outside the top 6 they have the best defensive record. Samba too if we can afford his wages. I might also look at Huddlestone to bring a bit of muscle into Midfield.

We are a bit lightweight especially against big teams. When our passing game is not working we can get bullied.

So what happens next to Suarez?

{Ed002's Note - Regardless of any summer move, I would expect a formal charge and a chance to request a personal hearing or to respond will be made later today, and I think there is every chance the player will have been advised to wave any rights he has and take, without further comment any punishment handed out by The FA. This could potentially be as early as tomorrow I would think. Suarez will most likely get a ban, a fine and a written letter which will remind him of the potential ban he has hanging over him, and will strongly suggest he improves his conduct in the future.

As soon as this latest mess is cleared up, I would expect that the club will at some point release him from his remaining commitments under condition that he returns to Uruguay and permission will be granted for him to join his national squad for the games in June.

If Liverpool is adamant that they really wish to keep him and not simply protect the image of the club, then I would expect a number of things to happen. I would think something along the lines of: (a) he will be instructed that he is not to travel to Italy this Summer like he did last year; (b) a request will be made of the Uruguayan FA to ask that Suarez not be made available for interview; and (c) that he will be accompanied by a specialist communications person brought in from the United States to act as a conduit to the media and to ensure that he says nothing dumb in respect of himself, the club and does not discuss transfers over the summer. I am also pretty sure that the club would request certain commitments from his agent or other representative regarding any meetings the two may wish to schedule – this could potentially go as far as the club requesting a third-party be present. The player will be told not to accept sweets or a ride from anyone called Pavel Nedved or Giovanni Branchini.

Ian Ayre has done the right thing to protect the club in terms of saying Suarez will stay. However, if the club are simply moving in to a mode of protecting their image and reputation and would be willing to let the player go then a different story will unfold. Ayres’ statement moves the responsibility for any summer transfer from the club to the player - and in doing so potentially penalises the player significantly.

There will continue to be interest from a number of clubs.}

That all makes sense to me. I have had several texts from genuine, paying Liverpool fans who are all embarrassed and disgusted. I ignore the comments from fans of other clubs as they are stoked by jealousy and the wish to see us remain in the doldrums. However, the FA will be punishing me and the other 40,000 fans who turn up, week in and week out if they issue a lengthy ban. How can that be fair, I have done nothing wrong and already next season could be another disaster. {Ed002's Note - Sadly it is a side effect of a player being punished. In some ways the charge of clubs not controlling players, or even fans, is even harsher.}

Thank you for that explanation Eds, very full and easy to understand. Much appreciated

FSG lost patience will Suarez months ago. This latest incident will just reinforce their their determination to get rid of the embarrassment that Suarez is. Suarez knows this, which is why he has been in the media so much ruling out a move, which is actually his agent and LS angling for a transfer. Expect Suarez to be sold in the summer to a German, Spanish or Italian club, although PSG have been linked. The fee will be about £24-30 million, payable over 2-4 years - typical of such a transfer.

Because we would sell him for the price we got him for when he's the Premierships top scorer? Fair enough he is a livewire and if they choose to sell him get the correct money in the region of 40 million, not that we could replace him with that due to the fact we are not even in Europe. We are lucky to even have Suarez

Suarez is too good to be sold

Suspect he will join the Rovers! Boom boom!

According to Mark Lawro speaking on Irish radio this evening, he reckons that while the club have publicly stated their intention to hold onto Suarez, they will be privately looking to offload him in the summer if they can get a certain price {Ed002's Note - Maybe you want to read my earlier "what happens next post.}

If we got 50 million for Torres we better get at least that if we sell Suarez. Bayern should be able to afford him. Rule of thumb though - never sell your best player.

The most sensible thing now is for Suarez to receive help for the issues he is currently going through. There have been several incidents now which show that he has problem controlling anger and taking responsibility for the trouble he is causing. The time has come for Suarez to accept his problems and to do something in order to help him through. Otherwise he will only take the problem somewhere else and eventually be on the scrap heap. I personally hope that player and club sit down and devise a sensible strategy to help Suarez deal with the problems he is facing.

22 Apr 2013 21:35:17
Just want to thank ed for the detailed answer, you guys put up witha lot of crap and don't get the yhanks you deserve, byt was wondering how long you think th ban will be, somewhere around 5-8 games maybe? {Ed002's Note - I don't want to get in to that right now man.}

Good analysis of the potential situation that could unfold, cheers ed.

Did Spurs get rid of definitely when he did this, did Spurs ban him from playing when the FA could not, even though the FA have previously extended bans for players receiving yellow cards. Did Chelsea sell or even strip JT of the captaincy for his sins. We need to work with Suarez, find the underlining problem to why he loses it during matches, selling him to another club is not the answer. The words YNWA come to mind! {Ed002's Note - Cheslea came very close to sacking Terry and that was made very clear to the player.}

22 Apr 2013 09:35:42
Hey eds,
Is there any chance of Soldado of Valencia. He has played quite well over past couple of seasons, scores a lot of goals, just what we need. Good experience aswell, but not that old, how much would he cost? Havnt heard his name much this season, but that is probably because he is competing against the likes of messi, ronaldo, falcao? do yous think we could get him, or is he a good target? thanks {Ed002's Note - If Valencia fail to make the CL then he might be available.}

No champs league football = no soldado. what is it with people in here

22 Apr 2013 08:11:35
Eds do you really think the club are now going to look at selling Suarez after this incident? Obviously it's silly and no players bigger than the club but he really has been our only quality player this season and it would be daft to get rid I feel {Ed002's Note - Regardless of what has happened there were offers to be made this summer. There is little point me giving a view today.}

And it begins!

Cue the months ahead of speculation that Suarez is leaving. again.

I think Suarez has really let the fans down this time. I think he is possibly the third best player in the world and building a team around him was the only way to avoid another disastrous season like this one. Now I just can't see how we can keep him. I also cannot see us being able to attract a player of equal ability no matter how much we get for him. Already I am beginning to feel despondent about another poor season next year.

Hoping like hell for a bidding war come summer. Don't care about the 30 goals, LS is not worthy to play for the club. Hope we can get a decent replacement in for him, Gomez maybe? Or Dzeko?

Andy Thorne

How can the club keep hold of him now, or even say he has a future, Its absolutely shoking if they do. He should get a 12+ game ban

Well said Andy. This guy has a history of biting other players. If he was in nursery schoool he would be excluded. The sooner we get rid the better. He is a disgrace to LFC. Jandee
