Expect Coutinho and/or Ince and a surprise quality experienced player on loan to be in Liverpool's possession by the end of the January transfer window. It is likely to be a playmaker who is 30+. No more players will leave Liverpool on a permanent basis this January but Coates will leave on loan in search for more first team action. Remember, you heard it here first!

21 Jan 2013 23:48:51
Playmaker.

Over 30?

That'll be Xabi Alonso then. Try to be original, bro.

- Something Red -

Coates won't go anywhere unless cover is brought in. We won't go with 3 CD's when one is aging.

A playmaker over 30..... that's gotta be Christian Poulsen.... no wait, Scott Parker..... how about JOE COLE? he'd be a great signing!

Dr. Sanchez

So you are basically quoting hat has been on thee pages for a few days now. good for you

ed, Since the depatures of Sahin and J.Cole, do liverpool hold any interest in Yohan Gourcuff, he is being offered at 3 mil do you think we can go in for him? {Ed001's Note - I very much doubt it, why would he? He has done nothing in years.}

The staff at Milan were sorely disappointed with him, talented but doesn't have the mental
TToughness for professional sports.

Liverpool scouts to watch Marco Rojas of the Melbourne Victory. Us and Juventus hold an interest in him. Good A-League player but I think to light weight for the Premier League?

As a New Zealander I have watched Marco Rojas plenty of times. Hie easily one of the best players in the A-League and at 21 could have a good career ahead of him. I was delighted when I heard LFC scouts were coming to watch him. Love it to happen, but he is very similar to Raheem and I fear he is even more lightweight, with not as good technical skills.

Very good young player - very skillful but yes quite small as you say. Will be leaving A-league very shortly cause he's too good for here - but think there's a stepping stone between A league and Premier League he needs to bridge first.

This rumour does kind of fit Liverpools current thinking - its gone under the radar, the player is young, technical and skilfull, there is minimal financial risk due to nearing contract end and coming from the A-league and he plays in the exact position Liverpool is currently scouting ie winger/forward/playmaker. Buy with a view to loan to championship club and see how he handles that?

There is a bridge, but he is clearly too good for the A-League. Why not try him out in the EPL. Winston Reid & Ryan Nelsen manage(d) it okay and he's up at their level comparing them on international duty

As a Victory supporter, I've watched a lot of Rojas and he is definitely a talent. However, he struggled a lot last season when he moved to Melbourne, so a move to the PL might be too big of a step up for now. Needs a couple of seasons in Netherlands or Germany.

Also, lots of PL clubs are linked with A-League players but few ever make the move.

Doubt he'll go to LFC, but will be interesting to watch what happens.

Hi Eds, Any Chance In Signing Jonathan Pitroipa The Burkina Faso Player. Has Excellent Speed And Looks Like He Could Cause Problems For Defenses. Scores Goals Too. Also Any Chance That We Could Acquire Some Of The Talent That Has Been Displayed By Some Players During The African Cup Of Nations. We Could Get Some Stars I Think, While Increasing Liverpool's Popularity Throughout Africa.

SZ_LFC {Ed001's Note - I really hope not. There has never been any players bought on ACON performances who have been good enough. I remember Manucho being a star there, he has never proven to be any better than poor since.}

Agree with Ed. Anyone remember Diao and Diouf I know these were after a World Cup, but still.

And let's not forget the well decorated, El Hadji Diouf.... Pow

Yea ed is right, forget those afaricans

Mayuka hasn't really got a look in at southampton either.

Ed I know you guys are probably sick of the Coutinho talk already but do you mind answering this question for me please? Do you reckon we will sign Coutinho? Cheers mate, great job you guys are doing!
LS7. {Ed001's Note - I can't see it happening, unless they get in a replacement for Sneijder.}

What about Guarin? Sorry if that's a stupid response..honestly i'm not familiar with the Inter squad beyond what I just saw on Fifa lol but to me it seems they still have great attacking options in MF despite losing both Sneider & Coutino. Anyone watch Inter who can confirm? Thx Eds....azkop

Italian journalist reporting a 15m bid for Paulinho. Guessing this would be the replacement? {Ed001's Note - that is old news, I am pretty sure Ed002 has mentioned their interest in him during his sum up of the Sneijder situation.}

Rumors are that they've submitted a 15 million fee for Paulinho. If they do get Paulinho would they still look to keep Coutinho? {Ed001's Note - it is very doubtful they would get Paulinho for that little, but I do believe if he did join Coutinho would be a lot easier to sign.}

Thought Inter were looking at a Sneijder replacement regardless of Countinho. {Ed002's Note - They are.}

21 Jan 2013 20:47:52
Do we hold any interest in Andriy Yarmolenko of Dynamo Kiev?

We all wish :)

21 Jan 2013 20:41:04
What was the latest bid for Coutinho that has been turned down, I've tried searching but cannot find anything. Do you think a transfer is still possible now we've been turned down twice eds ?

BigD {Ed001's Note - I personally am of the opinion that Southampton will step in and meet the asking price, I very much doubt we will. I just don't think we value him as highly, not when we already have Sturridge. If that deal hadn't gone through, then I expect we would have made sure to get him.}

What's the deal with Southampton ed? Why would they come in with a bid? Are they the new Tottenham?! Ha. {Ed002's Note - Maybe the "Ha" is the issue.}

Why are LFC always offering less than teams want when trying to build a squad?

Surely they must have the money.

American ownership is bad for football clubs. {Ed001's Note - because we don't need those players as badly as the others do. Southampton have had two promotions in quick succession, they haven't had time to get rid of all their League 1 players yet, let alone the Championship level ones. We also have the fallback option of some fantastic youth products (which Southampton have as well to be fair), so our need is less than a team fighting relegation.}

So how much did we bid the 2nd time ?

How much do Inter want that think Southampton may well match but we won't ?

Also I read that if we sign Coutinho then that means Suso will be loaned/frozen out, well if you've watched Coutinho play he can play in midfield as an attacking midfielder just like Gerrard, he can play off the striker as a number 10 or on the wing so I don't see how his arrival would affect Suso as I think he would play on the right wing.

BigD {Ed001's Note - does it really matter how much we bid? Inter don't think that, no one has even suggested that. Suso plays on the right wing because we were short there, not because it is his position. Suso is an attacking midfielder.}

I think that southampton will get him, 10m is what I think inter wantfor him and southampton will stump that up no problem

You get what you pay for in life and football

21 Jan 2013 20:40:48
Brazilian Young star Philippe Coutinho. Inter asking £10m Liverpool offer £8m. deal will be done at £9m.

hhh

Didnt he cost inter 4m and he has done nothing since going there! sent out on loan and basically a fringe player! correct me if I am wrong? certainly not worth 9m surely?

So they want £10m, our 1st bid was £6.75m which was rejected and by the looks of things i'm guessing the 2nd bid was £8m which was also rejected, just give them the £10m they want as he is worth it and would enhance our attacking options and is by far a better player than Ince.

BigD

ed do you know what the situation with Knoplyanka at Dnipro is when he is likely to move who's interested?
Cheers ed JF LFC {Ed001's Note - not a clue, sorry.}

21 Jan 2013 19:35:06
Will hughes to liverpool he's the next big thing in english football after raheem

We need to get this lad, he is perfect for our current style of play...

The next big thing is all very well if he achieves it. What LFC need right now is the current big thing. Anyways, look at Sterling - next big thing or next big disappointment?

Won't happen

Jordan Ibe looks promising.

Kaizer

Jordan Ibe is awesome kaizer I seen him play next gen against inter the other day . Tore them apart and just as good on defensive duties. Talented kid only 16/17 I believe ? I can definitely see him pushing his way into first team in next yr or so

Rednick

Too young. let him get 2 yrs experience of 1st team football

This is an exceptional talent. Remember made first team debut at 15 for Wycombe wanderers. So is used to playing above his age group.

Came on for the reserves (u21s) against Southampton last week and was sensational, I think he will be stepping up to first team in the next 18 months he's that good, as will texiera.

Liverpool interested in taking Kaka from Real Madrid....Deal has collasped between AC Milan and Real due to finance on Milans part...Couthino deal will be done..by the weekend at the latest

21 Jan 2013 19:41:37
h....ac milan doesn't have finance....and you think liverpool have????

Sorry but what a load of rubbish. Kaka will NOT be coming to Lfc, but TBH why would you? No form, ridiculous wages he is just a name.

BR & Lfc are better than that now we want hungry players.

Jimbob

O here we go again first villa then it was sjnider now the Kaka rumours are going to start!

Liverpool didn't want to entertain Sneijders wage package let alone Kaka's who earns considerably more.

Liverpool definately getting coutinho . be done deal by tomorrow evening . Brill!

Can you confirm the time of tomorrow evening?

Coutinho has just announced he is staying at Inter. That puts that one to bed.

Announced to who ??

"Coutinho has just announced he is staying at Inter. That puts that one to bed."

Can you confirm that he has said that??. NO!!. So please lets see and wait, i'm sure he will sign though, Inter are are a rubbish team anyways, we beat them easily whenever we face them!!...

He'd prefer to stay. I remember one Andy Carroll saying something similar.

So did Fabio b4 joinin us?!

Hey ed002! has just tweeted that the club are close to agreeing a fee with Inter over the Coutinho transfer! I know that he used to be close to Rafa and seems to have a bit of insight about transfers and stuff! Do you think he's right regarding this? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - It could be correct, speculation or wrong. My most recent information is as I have stated with the second bid.}

How are guys getting scooped by the Echo on this one ? NYC RED

Coutinho has just announced he is staying at Inter. That puts that one to bed. Looks like Sturridge will be only signing as LFC don't appear to have the ability to sign anyone else.

Ed002 what's your user name on twitter

ste {Ed052's Note - its @WonderDogSparky mate}

Cheers mate, but would you say that Balague is "reliable" so to say? And I assume that you'll update us if a new bid is submitted as usual? Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - Blague will not lie and will give the best information he can. I am pretty certain he won't dliberately screw with you.}

PSG to bid 70m last day of the jan transfer window to land Suarez!!

Sell him then! No problem.

The Irish Rover

If (A big if) this is true, let him go as long as we get to spend the £70m !

How can you possibly know that?

Mart86 {Ed019's Note - Pfft 70M}

I'd take 70M GBP in a heartbeat, but not on the last day.

Suarez will wait to the summer and see where we are at, however if we were not to get top 4 this season I suspect a move is on the cards. Liverpool can only hope that he recognises we are making significant progress and top 4 next season is a dead cert.

No, that would screw my Fantasy Football team right up.

We have spent big before and it has got us nowhere, so if we already have a gem of player keep him..money doesn't gaurentee success

Yeah let him move at the end of a transfer window when there is no chance for us getting a signing in or wasting our money on a mediocre signing for a panic buy. He does move it will be in the summer.

SA

Perhaps, just perhaps, Suarez is made of sterner stuff and he is actually committed to Liverpool and see's the progress being made...and that he could well forgo 'CL' this year for the bigger long-term picture (if we don't qualify)!? Imagine that, a player with 'credibility'? I for one am confident he would stay...whether the 'businessmen' could forgo a silly offer (after all, everyone has a pricevalue) is an entirely different matter!?

Does he mean Suarez who is playing for Cape Verdi in The African Nations Cup?

Pick any players you want to the value of 70m, and assuming these players would even consider us, I wouldn't swap them for Suarez! If he played for real or barca it would be who's better messi, ronaldo or Suarez. He is irreplaceable!

No they ain't.

Ibrahimovic coming to us in deal?

And we are replacing him with marvin sordell

21 Jan 2013 21:52:04
Fine, £70m + Ibrahimovich!

70 million!! ill drive him there now

I would take that in a heartbeat

Why last day of transfer window?? why not now??

With that you could buy sanchez and falcao

Funny this, I thought Suarez had a 40million release clause in his contract, or am I wrong eds? {Ed001's Note - I don't believe there is any release clause.}

Why must at last day of transfer window... Ohhh... so that we can spend the 70 million and get papis cisse huh? huhuhuhu....

I'd take that in a heartbeat, someone tell Rodgers to put a bid in for Falcoe, Villa and someone else now and say we'll give them the money when the Suarez sale goes through.

Whoever said ibrahimovich to us must remember that mercenary urged gerrard to leave us only a matter of weeks ago. no its time for liverpool to build a team around suarez if we sell him we are going backwards unless he throws a strop we must keep him at all cost.Tommy Irish Red

21 Jan 2013 17:14:10
Any interest in Viktor Fischer and Isimit Mirin would fit in nicely both young and very talented and Ready for first team squad. {Ed002's Note - Viktor Fischer is subject to interest from Manchester United, Hamburg and Werder Bremen.}

21 Jan 2013 16:42:41
Evening eds, I know your not wanting to reveal any figures but was the second bid a loan bid or a transfer?
Cheers, Redgrant. {Ed002's Note - I don't know of a loan being discussed at this time.}

21 Jan 2013 16:37:31
Eds, Should the club manage to get Coutinho, do you think that Suso will go on loan? And for a bonus point, is there currently any interest in a loan for Suso?

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - So it is one of those if-then, if-then questions. My advise is to Suso on Twitter - but not to add kisses or hugs to the message.}

21 Jan 2013 16:36:10
{Ed002's Note- I think so, yes. It would give Liverpool enough money to buy Sanchez.} Ed, are you saying that it's possible LFC may look to Sanchez as Suarez's replacement were we to sell him? Would we really be able to afford Alexis, though, wages wise? Even if we could, I would think our chances of clinching the deal very low considering his many other potential suitors (Inter, Chelsea, Arsenal, perhaps Spurs). Your comments on this would be appreciated. I'd also be curious as to who, in your opinion, would be viable, excellent replacement for Suarez were he to leave summer. Cheers.
gogoshi

{Ed002's Note - The summer remains a long way off Gogoshi but if Suarez were to move to Juve then Sanchez would not move there. BR might well look to the likes of Sanchez as a suitable replacement.}

Juve ? no Ed that's adream of juve but £100m they can't pay. £50m they will not able to meet it. PSG REAL BYRAN

Suarez is better than Sanchez !!

Suarez isn't going anywhere.

Why the f£c! woul we sell suarez when we are improving? he has a contract make him stay and if he doesn't perform nobody will want him he wil be as popular as torres

21 Jan 2013 16:31:31
Hey edds

Since our second bid for coutinho was rejected, do you think we will try a third bid or will we move on to the next target?

Thanks felix {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

21 Jan 2013 16:26:12
are we close to inters valuation with the latest bid? or have they not set a price? thanks in advance {Ed002's Note - I am pretty sure that Inter are not that keen on selling him regardless of interest from Liverpool, other clubs and offers being made. Inter are trying to raise some cash and will be letting at least two other players leave. With no cover for Sneijder (see my notes about Belhanda and Paulinho) it would likely take a very decent offer - but perhaps Liverpool do want to go that far? . Coutinho has been pushing for more opportunities for a couple of years and Inter had offered to loan him to Bologna as part of a deal for Gaston Ramirez that eventually fell through in the summer of 2011. I am surprised there is nothing in terms of obvious interest from Southampton just yet - but they might look to a higher fee.}

Thanks for reply mate

Sneijder sadly going to Galatasary.

Hi Eds,

Who are 2 players Inter are willing to part company with ? {Ed002's Note - Ricky Alvarez and Jonathan.}

21 Jan 2013 15:46:18
we aren't signing Coutinho can put that to bed now Matty w

Really hope your right, he's not that good at all, can't even get into the inter team

Cheers matt

Sturridge couldn't get in the Chelsea team!

21 Jan 2013 19:34:02
Matt, no offence mate but is yours a good source?

Ed0002 says we had a second bid rejected, and I'd take his statements (and his opinion on the likelihood of transfers going through) ahead of anyone, along with Macca.

Spurs are closing in now like vultures lol.Tommy Irish Red

Is this matty w from swansea by any chance !?

21 Jan 2013 15:39:58
Just heard from a source that couthinho is pretty much a done deal great site eds any more info {Ed002's Note - A second bid was rejected, so perhaps they are close.}

Sky Italia have said that he isn't for sale while the echo have said Liverpool are confident a deal will be done. Perhaps the story was leaked to Italian press to get us to pay a higher price. maybe.

Hi ed2 do you think we will sign this lad ed.if it's right they have turned down 2 of are bid's now it's looking like we could miss out on him then.he look's a very good player.and with what I've seen of him play when he went to spain on loan he was on fire.it's reported inter are cash strapped, ed could bid number 3 be made by us.jay essex red for life red till dead {Ed002's Note - If a large enough amount is offered then something maybe will happen. Inter have a couple of other players up for sale as well.}

As close as the Ince deal

There is a logic that says, to even submit a second deal there must of been some incling of a possibilty of it happening.

If Liverpool made an initial offer and Inter rejected it saying he's not for sale, no way, on your bike, there wouldn't have been a second offer.

I know the eds don't like speculating, but what would people consider a reasonable offer.

in my mind something around £10m with possible add ons wouldn't be outrageous considering the market and he's young enough that if it didn't work out in England he could retain a reasonable sell on value.

The only concern is, we could end up with an array of options up front and a leaky defence (although its improved recently)

21 Jan 2013 15:30:54
Hello fellow Reds and Eds,
Just wanted to throw something out there and get others' thoughts.

For the last few months, we've been begging for strengthening the final third, and we did that with Sturridge. With Borini coming back, it seems like we're covered there.

Now we seem to be looking at attacking midfielders. Is it just me or doesn't a squad of Suso, Shelvey, Henderson, Gerrard and Suarez (at a pinch if required) cover this pretty well?

I would think, at the moment, we need someone to cover for Lucas more than any other position. I like Allen but that's not his position and there's literally no one else (I don't think Conor Coady's quite ready). If Lucas goes down, we're back to square one.

I'm not against Coutinho or anyone else who can strengthen the squad (in fact, I think he would be an excellent and exciting addition), but somehow I feel the steel in front of our back 4 needs reinforcing.

Just a thought.

Doha Red

Henderson is really coming good at last, but who knows if he can keep up and improve his current form?
It seemed that just a few weeks ago that we were open to offers for him, so lets maybe wait and see on Henderson.

Shelvey's a very good player and a great lad with a lot of heart, but his finishing is not clinical enough at the moment.
Would he get into the starting eleven at Chelsea, City of Man U? Probably not at the moment, but he is not far from being very very good. I tihnk one more loan spell will give him the experience to really develop.

Suso will be a top player- he's not far away, but he's not quite there yet either- and I understand he would prefer not play wide. He needs a loan spell to develop his game.

But Coutinho gives you something else. He seems to have the instinctive ball control almost of Luis Suarez, and his dribbling is unreal. He could be world class if he can be developed a bit more, but even now what he can do is beat a man with ease, and give that bit of magic and creativity to open up a chance.

I think he is potentially a step up in quality from the other three, provided he can adapt to the tougher PL game.

I think you have a point here. I believe cover is needed there, especially considering this philosophy of Brendan's is not perfected yet. We still leave ourselves open on the counter at times and maybe against certain teams we could actually do with two anchormen. Maybe something Brendan will look at in the summer, but who knows. For now I'll settle for who we've got and see what BR musters up in other areas. If anything.

If Lucas were to get injured again, i'm sure BR would stick Gerrard in his place... my thoughts behind this are, Henderson is doing well in the attacking role, Allen likes to play just behind that and in front of the defensive mid, AND because he has given Gerrard more 'freedom' to do his trait long passing which we all love to see :)

Momo Sissokho has come out as saying he's not happy at PSG and he's still only 27, so just about fits in to FSG's policy. He would be good cover for Lucas

Shelvey and Suso aren't consistent enough

Spearing will be back end of the season, he could be used as cover for Lucas.

JCJ

Yeah I agree, a CDM is much needed.

Perhaps one of the following:

Medel of Sevilla
Moussa Sissoko
Romelu of Spartak
Radja Nainggolan
Etienne Capoue
Fernando of Porto

These are all top defensive mids.

J

Momo Sissokho ONLY 27? If he is ONLY 27 and Wesley Sneijder is 28, why doesn't he fit into FSG's transfer policy?

21 Jan 2013 15:28:00
eds I was wondering if we have an interest at all in jason steele, I think he would be very good backup to reina and is young, english and has a lot of potential? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Butland is young and English.

21 Jan 2013 15:22:00
{Ed002's Note - I suspect you will soon hear of a second bid for Coutinho being rejected. If nothing else it does mean that the club is making a serious effort to bring him in.}

Do you know how much the second bid was ed? thanks

bigW {Ed002's Note - I have a number I have been told but after all of the Sneijder discussions and misunderstandings we probably want to keep clear of financial discussion.}

Thanks for the updates Ed its appreciated

Thanks for the update Ed, you're under-appreciated here but you still give your all, and there are those that are genuinely thankful for it.

Not so much a rumor just asking an opinion. If Reina leaves has anybody thought about Fraser Forster from Celtic.

I was thinking the same, seems a quality shot stopper

Vish

Kevin Trapp, ter stegan, have to be considered in my opinion, ed002 any further news on rafael from brazil? Never seen him play mind.

Square tomato {Ed002's Note - He is still with Santos. Santos goalkeeper Rafael has attracted the attention and confirmed interest from Atletico Madrid, Palermo and Spurs in the past year. Caniggia has also had Rafael watched on behalf of Liverpool. Roma have gone as far as making an offer circa 6M euro that was rejected in the summer.}

Definately it has to be one of Adler, Ter Stegen, Beno, Trapp, Rafael if we have to replace Reina.

Easy answer no, he is nowhere near good enough, i've seen him struggle in SPL games which is barely better than League One standard.

21 Jan 2013 19:16:46
If Reina leaves Tim Krul, Vorm or Al Habsi for replacements?

Tim Krul is a great choice. What about Paul Robinson - out in the wilderness right now.

ESPN quoting Reina's father saying Pepe would love to play for Barca.

Need experience. Casillas?

Seen him struggle in SPL games? You've been watching the wrong goalie. Best in Britain this season by a mile!

21 Jan 2013 14:06:17
Eds, would the fact we have put a bid in for Coutinho mean there is every chance the player and us have agreed terms. Surely we would have had some sort of encouragement from the players reps to put a bid in? {Ed002's Note - To make a bid perhaps, to agree terms, probably not.}

21 Jan 2013 13:32:02
Rumor has it that Reina might decide to sign for Manchester United, which I think is a pile of crap but if he did would he become the most hated player in Liverpool history.

I'm sure that is one place he will not be allowed to move to.

LFC will not sell to them, end of, remember the Heinze episode ?

Think Owen has that title.

Reina is in decending form, if he does go it'll be a club choice to sell him and hopefully his decline would continue at Man Utd. Wouldn't be hated by me.

The way Owen left us was very different

There's More chance of us signing Messi than Reina being sold to the Moneybags

It was reina being link with man united not a while ago that coincided with his poor form which has been present for longer than people remember. His head was turned by man united and I wouldn't be suprised if he did go there.

Reina loves Liverpool he wouldn't do that.

21 Jan 2013 13:24:40
Read an interview by Reina's dad going on that he is the perfect keeper for Barca and he would love to return there, the article goes on to state that we have bid 5 million for Ochoa and would look to do a deal for Ochoa now and Butland in the summer. I've seen Ochoa on a number of occasions and always strikes me to think why is he not at a bigger club. Do you know of any truth with respects to Ochoa

Ochoa is a average Mexican keeper, I heard he has attitude problems though . can't remember a good Mexican keeper in the premier league. he can't be that good other wise he would of been playing for a top team by now. reina is staying anyway at least till the summer so I doubt liverpool will be looking for a new keeper at the min

Oucha is too small....

We will go in for Vorm

Can't sign for a English club, Fulham tried to sign him in 2010 but the FA blocked the move because of the special gloves he has to wear as he has 6 fingers on one hand

Isn't that good yet was in the top 50 for world player of the year a few years back, also many Ajaccio fans believed he kept them up

Ochoa is a decent keeper, nearly signed for fulham but because he has 6 fingers on his right hand his specially designed nike gloves with 6 fingers on one hand are illegal to wear under the FA therefore deal couldn't go through, however other european contries under uefa arent so strict so he will most probably play out his career there

Surprised reina's dad new Liverpool's transfer targets!

Massive risk

I can't believe you guys still believe he has 6 fingers lol... he is a great goalkeeper and he's very tall too, he has everything to play in the premier league {Ed052's Note - polydactyly isn't it?}

Any interest in hiroshi kiyotake from any teams or any of the eds rate him? Would love to see Liverpool make moves for him, similar to kagawa and would probably relish moving a step up from nuremberg soon.

Thanks {Ed002's Note - He won't be moving in January.}

Interesting comments from Reina's father Miguel.

I can see Reina going to Barca, i'm not sure how I feel, he has been inconsistent for a few seasons but seems over the last few months to have found some form.

Whats peoples thoughts, and who are the potential replacements?

YNWA JFT96 jns

To be honest with you if we can get a decent replacement sell him. I would demand top dollar for him though as he has a long term contract with us. I don't care if he isn't worth £20mill but I would make Barca pay that if they want him.

Brad jones is good enough to cover untill the summer, reina is not the man he ones was, his not motivated, and should go to a place he will get motivated again

The way we pass back to the keeper reina has good footballing brain good feet any new keeper would need to be up to the passing game for instance ben foster would not.Tommy Irish Red

Personally I like Reina and would love him to stay. It would take some signing to replace him. I don't see him as inconsistent just that goal keeper errors are magnified some what.

Johnty

Lets face it one day reina will return to Spain, and I can see him going to barca, I doubt he would move anywhere else, apart from Villarreal but am guessing when valdez moves from barca in the summer they will come in for a bid for reina, maybe then its time Liverpool looked for a top young keeper like butland or ter stegan

Good points I agree his ball skills are great he can pass and distribute as well as any keeper in the world.

I personally think he makes the majority of his mistakes on crosses and set pieces, its that dilemma that could we cash in and get good money for him and bring in a keeper who can perform as well.

YNWA JFT96 jns

Yeah let him go.. I think we have got the best out of him and it is time to sell

I can see Vorm and Brgovic both being targets

Sell him. I like the guy but he's not the keeper he once was. I think he's still worth 15-20 million

I would of sold Reina in the summer to be quite honest with you. He is a great keeper don't get me wrong but there are keepers at the age of 22 - 25 who are experienced and as good. I would expect to achieve around 16 million for him. Maybe 20 if other cclubs bid for him.

I like butland but i'm not sure he is ready yet. (for europa league and top games) maybe i'm wrong!

Brad Jones I don't rate and would have never signed the guy.

I like Ruffier of St. Ettiene personally.

Jamie

Sell him. He has been average for the past 2 seasons. At his peak he was the best in the prem bar none, now he doesn't look interested and makes stupid mistakes.

Gaz1975.

A keeper that command the box taking pressure off the defence.....Jack butland is good young keeper, but a risk. Personally I would go for tim krul possibly involving a deal that would take AC back to Newcastle.

I personally would like to see Ter-Stegen

Reina is not as gud as b4, so selling him shld collect some funds for new recruits. Brad jones can be gud till the end of season. Jones has played 9 games so far and has kept 7 clean sheets. Very impressive.

Brad Jones is not a premership goalie and he is an accident waiting to happen and could cost us a top six finish if he plays regularly while Reina is injured. I think that sentiment cannot be a reason to pick him and I think LFC should swoop for a goal keeper now who can be Reina's understudy until he leaves in the summer. Reina has been amazing for LFC but I think that since all the Spanish boys moved on he has lost motivation.

Butland. Casillas

tv reporting that Coutinho is in liverpool talks.

Is this true ed's? Sorry if this has been answered, I had a look through posts but could see that we had interest was wondering if you knew if there were talks? And if you think he would be a better signing than Ince? {Ed002's Note - If they can agree a fee with Inter they can then talk to the player.}

It is my belief that the "fee" has already been agreed, i'm betting its 7M plus add ons which brings it to a total of 10-12M. Extremely good signing this as he is very skillfull and fast. Infact, I would see him serve as a temporary replacement for Steven Gerrard. He also won't take time to settle as Lucas and Suarez are there to guide him. Great talent all in all and Welcome to Anfield, I would give him the no.10 shirt as that is what he actually is!!

Ed do you think inter will sell the player at all this window as they need to replace ws aswell thanks {Ed002's Note - At the right price they will sell. They have a couple of other players they are looking to remove from the books this month as well.}

21 Jan 2013 12:26:28
Hey, Ed, not sure about your sources but we did submit a £5m offer plus add ons for a permanent moves. don't know about any loan moves, don't see the point in that because we'l just be developing him for Inter, once he gets good, Inter will take him back so that doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, according to a reliable source, Coutinho has made it clear to Inter he wants to leave and Ian Ayre is in the process of negotiating a fee with Inter which should be sorted soon.

Thanks, Steve {Ed002's Note - I am not sure what this is in response to, but I have explained an offer was made by Liverpool.}

It was a different ed. I think 52. Who stated we only offered loan.

Aldo {Ed002's Note - OK.}

If we pay 8 m pounds for him as reports suggest he will not be moving and then moving back when he is developed, why on earth would we do that??even if it happens, "mate" inter will have to pay double what we paid for him then if they want him back(cant buy back a player developed for the same price you paid for him just common sence) so decent buisness anyway even though I know its bs...

It was Ed001. {Ed002's Note - What would an itinerant harpoon sharpener know about football?}

21 Jan 2013 12:25:53
As I understand that bladzs dzsudzsak will be moving to the club for a fee of £8 million pound which means that Stewart downing is on the way out to the north east. Also coates will join west brom on loan as Steve Clarke is a big fan of him. Phillipe coutinho is also on the verge of joining up with us for £10 million. Joe Allen has dropped out of favour at anfield and could be heading back to Swansea for the rest of the season on loan.

You were doing well until the Joe Allen bit!

BR loves Joe Allen hence why he has only missed about 4 league games all season

You might have gotten away with it until you said Joe was going back to Swansea on loan. Like BR would loan out his blue eyed boy after paying 15m for him in the summer. Yeah right.

Sorry mate, try to make your next blag a bit more believable.

What a load of bull..

Why would we let go of Downing who has finally found form and sign a player who has played for 3 clubs in the last 4 years and has no PL experience?

Why would BR let Allen go to any club? He would look a right person to the owners for allowing him to go after making him his from his old club!

And 10 million for Coutinho, if he is that good then i'm sure there will be other clubs in for him!?

Baz

The most redicoluous ost I have read all day, downing has been fantastic and allen will not be moving any where..what is wrong with people, we need a bigger squad not getting rid of players starting to finally find their feet at the club spescially downing !

Don't believe this sorry. Allen isn't going anywhere imo

Joe Allen isn't out of favour at Anfield, he is being rested. He basically played every game for three months. Now Lucas is back and Henderson showing some form, he will be rested from time to time.

Coates will be offered to a number of clubs, WBA, Newcastle, Wigan, Napoli etc have all shown interest in the youngster, who has a great future ahead of him.

The guy whose name I can't be bothered to spell isn't going to join LFC any time soon, do you even know who he is?

21 Jan 2013 17:41:53
Allens class and is going nowhere. His form has dipped because he's played virtually every game, similar to Raheem. That's because our squad depth is not what it should be yet. Downing has been class since he was told he could leave, his reaction to that has been great, a lesser player would have just given up. Recent performances prove he wants to be at Liverpool and Rodgers is a great man manager who did this to get the best out of him. Some players need an arm round their shoulder, others need a reality check. Downing has passed the test. I can't imagine many footballers who wouldn't want to play in this current Liverpool side, pure football and a great coach.

21 Jan 2013 12:22:20
Signing Couthino is fine, but only if we are expecting the player to develop his full potential in 2-3 years time, besides we already have Suso and other youngsters in our team that are just as good and it going to take all of them probably 2 years to develop and Couthino has no more experienced than Suso. Do we not need any experience in this team, isn't that what the senior players like Gerrard were pointing out?

Building for the future is grand, but having a well balanced team in the now isn't such a bad idea either. I'm sure their are a few Arsenal fans out there who can explain the obvious flaw in forever buying young potential.

Wegner's teams while full of promise, never achieve and end up losing their players once they begin to mature, Arsenal have become a selling club, I just pray we are not following their model.

Cham

Great post. Some very valid comments. We need experienced, proven quality not more potential!

How can you say that Coutinho is no more experienced than Suso?
Coutinho scored 5 goals in 16 apps in La Liga in the second half of last season.
What has Suso done?

Coutinho is good enough right now. He is a smashing player.

Ermmm isn't that what we want. for liverpool to be a force within the next 2/3 years.

nothing happens immiedately

We need long term sustainability. Arsenal have bought young and sold players on for a good profit because they were paying off their stadium. I'd rather the Arsenal model than the Leeds model.

In a nutshell, experience doesn't provide resale value. It really is a joke. FSG are acting like a rigid corporate monster. An oil tanker unable to turn in the harbour. What is Wrong with them? They need to be more flexible in order to get into European football. Surely the additional funds fom champions league football would offset any transform armortisation loss from experience. You have to have experienced winners in a team hoping to challenge for top honours. £200k a week off the wage bill in Sahin and Cole and FSG look to bring a £50k a week player in. I really do question FSGs ultimate objective.

We used to take points from the big teams because we had experience. Now we play the weaker teams off the park with young talent but they fold against the bigger teams.

Ozone {Ed002's Note - I note you have put aside the money it takes to remove Cole.}

We have more than enough experience in our first team. Johnson, Agger, Skrtel all 28 and Reina in nets at 30. that's a pretty experienced back line. Gerrard, 32, and Lucas, 26, again very experienced in the middle of the park. And Suarez up top despite begin relatively young is very experienced.

Just cause we have played a few younger players (which everyone wanted at the time) doesn't make us an inexperienced team.

Hi eds
Do you know if Adam Morgan's loan at Rotherham will be extended past the 8th feb, or any other options for him on loan thanks.
Chris. {Ed001's Note - it is likely it will be extended, though it does depend on Rotherham wanting to extend it. He has only played once for them so far. He is certainly available for loan until the end of the season.}

He hasn't has many games to start due to postponed games (weather), it would make sense to extend his loan for another month or two.

Hi ed, is there any chance we could raid newcastle at all maybe in January maybe in the summer players like hateem Ben arfa and yohan cabaye surely don't want to be in a relagation battle and would fit right into our team Ben arfa would be perfect for the number 10 role also play out wide what's the chances ed? Also in the summer we could have more chance is Newcastle show intrest in any carroll? Thanks ed tommy b {Ed002's Note - The summer "raids" will not have been planned just yet.}

Ben arfa is greedy, lazy and always injured. No thanks

I am a massive fan of cabaye I think he would be a great buy and slot in to the number 10 shame we have no intrest in him.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't cabye have a medical with liverpool before he joined newcastle on a free but failed it?

Liverpool to sign Anelka on 18 month deal as cover for Sturridge.
This will happen if Anelka wants it to and his level of fitness is up to it.
Information from someone who knows his brother who at one time was his agent.
What do you think Ed's? {Ed002's Note - I suspect someone is pulling your leg on Twitter or Facebook.}

Lol these rumours get worse people are becoming total fantasists...

Isn't sturridge covering suarez.. I don't think rodgers will currently be looking for cover, for cover :/

While I realise its very, very unlikely is there any chance that Sakho could be available from PSG?
For me, someone like him would really tighten us up at the back. A good cb with the ability to play at lb as well
If not him can anyone think of someone similar? {Ed002's Note - Arsenal and Lyon have sustained interest in Sakho and there is growing interest from Newcastle, Inter Milan, Manchester City and possible interest lingering interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. PSG are not keen on selling and he seems keen to stay.}

I am of the opinion that it would be particularly difficult for Liverpool to persuade Sakho to join LFC if the player is interested in winning the league title this year. Suitor club CL qualification will also likely be a factor which plays in to his mind if PSG receive a bid which prompts them to allow the player to enter in negotiations with other clubs.

A younger, less-expensive Ligue 1 defender with 18 months on his contract -- who neither plays for a title-challenging team (with deep pockets) or has been red-carded with 4 matches to go in a title-race -- would be Kurt Zouma.

Unfortunately Zouma seems keen to stay in France; however, allegedly Machester City have bid for Zouma and remain interested, with United also allocating resources to monitoring him. As far as his utility to Liverpool, he apparently can play anywhere among the back four, so as to add both competition for places and cover. He has played around 40 matches within a season and a half for a team four points off of fourth in a respected league and so it would be hard to begrudge him wanting to stay a player rather than be benched.

Hi! EDS: Quick question, you might know the answer.
When Lucas was sidelined it was reported he was doing some scouting for LFC. Do you think he has recommended Coutinho.
kidmillions {Ed002's Note - No I don't. He may well have done some scouting but Coutinho has been known to Liverpool for some time.}

He was scouting opposition, not players. I doubt lucas responsibilities to liverpool are to 'protect the back 4, make incisive passes, recommend future transfers'

Actually, kidmillions is right - he asked to go back to SA for a month and do some scouting, as he wished to use his injury time productively. Liverpool accepted and he scouted in South America, returning to report that SA transfer targets no longer represent value for money as they are as expensive as European targets without being tested against quality opposition. In short, he did not recommend anyone {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has a scouting network in South America who did extensive work over the early summer with about a dozen potential targets. To some degree this was discussed in July. Lucas had no involvement with that.}

21 Jan 2013 10:55:36
We've been linked with Coutinho, but doesn't he play in the same position as Suso, Teixeira etc? Whilst I'm sure he's talented, why buy another youngster in a position we're already well stocked?

Raoul {Ed002's Note - A very good question - particularly in respect of Suso.}

Suso is going on loan to Wigan

We probably won't get him anyway Raoul. If we did its good to have some competition between the youngsters as these will probably be the players for many years to come

This coutinho lad will be a flop, he can't even get into the inter team, he can't get into the Brazil team, he can't score goals and I bet you he's on about 30k a week, just a waste of 8-10million pounds in my opinion

Suso can't get into our team most of the time, that doesn't stop everyone saying what a great player he is.

Coutinho has proven himself in a league as tough and pacey as BBVA so I think having his trickery, flicks, pace and eye for goal will inspire the likes of Suso who as much as I love to see play really needs to toughen up and mature a little.
Having all three of them in the squad will ensure depth and ability. Premier league hasn't seen this kind of trickery since Mata.

Why do utd have 4 strikers?

its a squad game

GET REAL

21 Jan 2013 12:06:04
Waste of money? Blah blah blah. Probably said the same about sturridge. Those words are probably quite tasty at this point. Let the brazil kid impress, he's part of a team not our sole salvation.

Suso is getting there but he's still very young, and I'm not sure LFC can afford to to give him more PL starts at this point in the season, at least not whilst the slim chance of 4th spot still remains.
Maybe it's better to let him go on loan until the summer, to get more playing time and to mature.

"This coutinho lad will be a flop" wow such an optimist !! I am guessing you are the same type of person who was barracking the owners for not peeing money up the wall on Sneijder too?

Hes only a year older

Cos Suso isn't as good as we thought? Perhaps he wants to move back to Spain as he isn't getting game time at Anfield.

Texiera, I haven't seen one match report wher he stands out. The players that do stand out are Pacheco, Ibe, Morgan, Coady, Sama, McLoughlin for me.

I don't know what Daniel has done not to be part of the first team. Maybe he wants out as well.

No I wasnt a lover of the sneijer deal either, trust me counthino isn't the player we need he won't get into the first 11 aswell, i'd rather spend the 10million on some one a bit more proven

Coutinho can be very effective on the wing as rafa said a while back and raved about the kid.

Coutinho is much FASTER, with and without the ball, than Suso or even Texeira. That is the key difference, and why Coutinho can play a wide position and why Suso is better centrally

Hi Ed's

Any updates concerning Bernard (South American).

YNWA-SA {Ed002's Note - Atletico Mineiro's Bernard rejected opportunities to join Zenit and Qatar in the summer but there was a lingering thought that he may move on this January. Inter and Liverpool both had Bernard watched last summer with Inter going as far offering part ownership of others in exchange for part ownership of Bernard, but again that was refused. However, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow, Terek Grozny and Shakhtar Donetsk have recently approached Atletico Mineiro and whilst a 12M euro offer from Terek was rejected, it looks like a deal could be still be done and perhaps AC Milan will put together a package including a player as part of the deal. Whilst he is certainly attracting interest from several sides and a very good offer could tempt them to sell, I suspect Atletico Mineiro and Bernard would prefer to hold off on any move for, say, another year. Chelsea has been keeping a close eye on his progress as have Manchester City. He was one of the South American players that Liverpool were scouting earlier in 2012.}

21 Jan 2013 10:29:37
Hey eds, hope all is well. Just a question. Has Ozil been looked at or do you think he maybe available in the summer? Much obliged guys. Cheers
jackson8787 {Ed002's Note - I don't see Oezil being available at all right now but there will be no shortage of interest if he is, not least Inter Milan who bid against Madrid to buy him originally. Dortmund, who has already spoken with Real Madrid, both Manchester clubs, no doubt some ex-Eastern Bloc clubs (one of which had an offer rejected in November) and Juventus. Unless the new manager of Real Madrid decides he doesn't want him, I don't see him moving any time soon.}

IMO Ozil is not settled at real.......expect him to move in summer....I expect back to Germany.....my money would be on Bayern Munich.....Ozil would suit guadiolas managerial style and I think he should be high on Guadiolas summer shopping list ......you heard it here first LOL {Ed002's Note - He is fine in Madrid.}

Ozil is one class player. Much better than Sneijder and younger.

21 Jan 2013 10:25:11
Liverpool Echo claim Inter Milan's Philippe Coutinho will soon be signing for Brendan Rodgers.

Really happy about this transfer if it happens as he is young, versatile can play in midfield, on the wing or as a No.10 which we need.

BigD

Not wanting to pour cold water on things but firstly he has to sign and secondlyI recall how excited posters here were about getting Sahin on loan.He turned out to be [ in my opinion if not everyone's ] paperweight and ineffectual.If we did sign Coutinho I'd sit back and weigh him up before going over the top.

The Plank

He isn't that good, all these people going on about couthino like he's neymar. he can't even get into the inter team, so yes if Liverpool do offer about 8-10 million we will get him, but he isn't worth 6million let alone 8 -10 million.were just wasting money here for no reason.id rather keep suso and give him the game time,

He is a good young player, but is he better than Suso? I don't believe he is and they would be vying for the same position. It's a strange one if it goes through.

Flagg

21 Jan 2013 10:24:39
Hi Eds

Why would Inter want to sell( Philippe Coutinho) such a talented kid? And surely a price that would be out of our reach? I can't see this happening. We will only get Ince and I don't think we even need him. Would rather see Ibe get a chance.

Thatracoonstolemybacon {Ed002's Note - Inter are not that keen on selling him regardless of interest from Liverpool, Rubin Kazan and Porto and a couple of bids, including one from Liverpool, being rejected. Coutinho has been pushing for more opportunities for a couple of years and Inter had offered to loan him to Bologna as part of a deal for Gaston Ramirez that eventually fell through in the summer of 2011. He had a few starts early last season and with Inter looking to sell Sneijder everyone thought his future in Milan was assured. The loan to Espanyol earlier in 2012 gave him important experience. It now seems that Inter see the replacement for Sneijder to be someone other than Coutinho and this might make a sale or even a loan viable. Coutinho would need a work permit to play in England and that may not be easy to obtain for a permanent move. However, there is now a complication in respect of Coutinho moving and that is the replacement for Sneijder. Inter had a preference for Paulinho but his cost his very high and Corinthians do not want to sell. Their other option was Belhanda and the interest of Inter was holding his move to Fenerbahce up as he was refusing to agree personal terms. However, that is no longer the case so Belhanda is no longer an option. I would expect Southampton to look to take Coutinho this January as well as Liverpool.}

Ibe is more of an out and out winger. I would say Texeiraa and Suso are more like Coutinho.
I too am concerned that some incoming players may block the development of some fantastic kids coming thru.
Saying that, I think Coutinho is worth a punt

Why would Chelsea want to sell sturridge, they did !

21 Jan 2013 10:17:19
Could we make a late bid for m'vila because he would chose us over qpr {Ed002's Note - Liverpool will not be making a bid and M'Vila will not be moving to Anfield. If anyone makes a late bid it would be QPR as Konstantin Ivanov and others were looking to wrap up his transfer to Rubin Kazan yesterday. I would expect it to be done within the next 48 hours.}

What makes you so sure he'd choose us over QPR? Remember the shock when Gaston Ramirez joined Southampton? He was asked why he'd joined them and replied "Because they're paying me a huge amount of money".Clubs in relegation problems often agree very generous deals because they desperately need to strengthen their squad.

The Plank {Ed002's Note - Just like M'Vila, Gaston Ramirez did not have any offer from Liverpool.}

What about kazans transfer embargo, ed? Hehe not so clever now are you...

Dave {Ed002's Note - Why do you bother with these little snipes?}

21 Jan 2013 09:51:38
Looks like we could get Coutinho, which would be a good signing, maybe missing Sneijder is a blessing in disguise...Joe Cole mk2??

21 Jan 2013 09:51:31
we are after countinho..means one of our midfielders will be moving...
shelve, hendo. lucas, gerrard, allen..and countinho...
overpacked...

what about striker...we are still facing problem both the wings...

y don't we bid honda..
excellent pplayer..perfect no10..

YNWA

Thats why we are buying tom ince mate

He can play behind the striker or either wing, no need to sell our midfielders. the reason why we have struggled is because the lack of depth in the squad.

Missing a striker, winger? What about Suarez, Sturridge, Borini, Sterling? Also Coutinho may play behind striker as false "10"

Maybe Suso on loan but I can't see any midfielders being sold

Ermmm no cole and sahin have gone we are 2 short !

Coutinho essentially replaces Sahin.
To play twice a week we need 6 mids & 6 forwards/wingers.
Lucas, Allen, Hendo, Shelvey, Gerrard
Downing, Sterling, Borini, Suarez, Sturridge
Coutinho, Suso
Reserve / Youth - Texeira, Coady, Assaidi

Beginning to look like a deep club again - think we could use another in-the-box striker, Morgan or Yesil may make the grade.

21 Jan 2013 13:18:28
So we've got too many midfielders yet you then go on to say that we should buy Honda (a midfielder.). The logic that some fans have is ridiculous let alone that we haven't been linked with Honda for years. Furthermore coutinho can play any position Honda can and he is younger.

You have to remember now that our midfeild formation is a diamond 3 not a flat 3.so we do need about 6 midfielders in the first sqaud.hence gerrard allen lucas hendo and shelvey if countinho does come in then that's 6 so that means we can play 3 and rest 3

Sell Allen.

21 Jan 2013 09:17:28
Philippe Coutinho is set to become #LFC's second January signing (via the LivEcho)"

Apparently southampton have matched inters 8m asking price, he is due for talks over personal terms. their new manager had him on loan at espanyol a couple of years ago, Cant see us getting him myself

21 Jan 2013 09:00:21
Reports in the echo about Coutinho and Ince should be done this window. Two young players with potential, would have liked the boat pushed for Sneijder myself, think an experienced head would have been perfect. Still, they will be 2 good additions to the group. LFC fans happy if these 2 go through?

No I won't be happy. Ince:

- barely proven himself in the championship
- lightweight
- big ego
- pace and dribbling ability (thats it)

Coutinho has good technique but hasn't done nearly enough to warrent a move to liverpool.

he scored 5 goals for inter in two seasons and 3 at espanyol on loan. he's lightweight and we already have a number of midfielders who pip him i'm afraid. Henderson?! is coutinho any better than henderson? or suso?

NO!

Jamie

Yes mate think it good news! love to get Butland aswell

Most defiantly as Coutinho will add more creativity to the side and Ince will provide competition for sterling so overall it will be good for the squad, although I agree we could do with experience in the team as we have to have the right balance.

BigD

Neither will set the world alight to be honest.. I think coutinho would be a good signing but i'm don't think lfc should sign ince

I hope its true, articles like these can be misleading as it states a £5 million bid was turned down with us likely to improve our offer, also mentioning that the lad is keen on joining us. that's too many assumptions to be honest. Will be immense if he can join.
RedSox69

I'll be over the moon if both sign...But I think we should go all out for a striker and cover for Lucas in the summer..

Red PG

Is it just me or are more and more people calling the squad "group?"
I am pretty sure it has only really come to the fore this season and I think Brendan Rogers was the one who started it off.I can remember many years ago when a group became a band!
How long will it be before a squad =group=band.
"He will be a very good addition to the band"
I wonder what instrument he will play.

21 Jan 2013 06:15:29
Hi eds great site good work
I just wanted to ask eds say that selcuk inan will probably be an option for the summer, he will be 28. Fsgs policy has been to buy young, do you think they will buy any over age players considering recent comments by gerrard suarez and rodgers? please post thanks Hammy lfc {Ed002's Note - Inan is a player who Liverpool has been looking at and there is the chance of a bid in the summer. As I have said before, I think the "policy" is perhaps over-played a little.}

Yeah I'd be happy! Still think an experienced number 10 would be a better option - someone who can arrive late in the box and get some goals.

Not saying Sneijder but maybe someone with the characteristics of Siem de Jong

Hi Ed002,
it seems that Sneijder`s transfer will finally be sorted out as he goes to Gala. Good. Lot`s of questions and rumours will go quiet.
tom {Ed002's Note - Let's hope so Tom. I am sure there will be a little more action in the coming days: Isco for medical as soon as the snow clears; Diego's Liverpool tattoo; your namesake Mr Ince smuggled in to the City Centre Marriott for talks with Ian Ayre (disguised as Paul McCartney); Hulk playing the first half of the Europa League game for Zenit and the second half for Liverpool. Exciting times ahead.}

Great reply ed002, you forgot the my sisters fella's mates, cousins, sons, teachers, grandads, wifes, uncles, friends works at burger king and brendan rodgers was there ordering two woppers. messi and ronaldo are signing.

Dont forget torres' cheeks were red when he was out walkin in the snow, alonso sittin by a pool with a red towel

Hi Ed's

Loving the site and getting used to the powernaps before getting up in the early hours to watch the lads play.

Assuming Reina goes in the summer does LFC have or had any interest in Krul, Romero (Sampdoria) and Ospina (Nice)? - 3 guys i'd consider world class replacememnts.. particularly Ospina. {Ed002's Note - The summer is a long way off and, aside from Krul, these names seem very random indeed.}

If this is true about Reina, IMO Begovic should be the one for us.

Hi Eds. If coutinho were to come, do you think he will be a good signing for LFC? Would he be used in a front 3 or midfield 3? {Ed002's Note - I gave an opinion yesterday that I am not totally convinced by Coutinho and it has to be kept in mind that Inter see him as very skillful, great player, etc. but also as not as robust as they would like. This is the reason he struggles to get in the side. If Liverpool or Southampton do take a chance on him, I would expect him to be behind the forwards.}

Havnt seen him play but apperently he looks like he has bags of potential however after watching him on youtube he does look small and very lightweight which my make it hard for him to adapt to the premier league as he won't be given time on the ball but the modern premier league is now non contact so he might win us loads of free kicks ;). overall if you give him time on the ball he will tear defenders apart and he reminds me of a david silva however I feel we need experience and he just looks too lightweight he would be a good buy but not a great buy maybe loaning him till the end of the season with a option to buy may be the better thing to do.
cheers

Thats a little worrying if he is deemed light weight as the EPL is far more physical than the Italian league, having said that they said that Silva would be too light weight for the EPL and look how well he settled in (even though it took half a season).

Hendo with skill and pace in my opinion

I think Coutinho is very similar to Pablo Aimar - a player that Liverpool were constantly linked with a number of years ago. It was a shame that Lpool didn't get Aimar back then but the theory behind that was that he wasn't physically strong enough for English football. Things have changed though since the early 200's in that tackling is almost gone from top level football so I'm not so sure that argument stands up anymore. I was one of those banging the drum for Sneijder but this lad has brilliant ability, great potential, is 8 years younger and won't demand crazy money to come to Liverpool. Really would be a signing to get excited about if it happens. And would also show that the owners are in fact trying to do the right things in the transfer market.

LFC want 2 more players this window. Couthino is one we've a lot of interest in and seemingly there is interest in Diego from VfL Wolfburg too. Mates with Lucas too but don't know how true that is....just saying

Hi eds and reds,
1) What are the chances of Liverpool buying Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid in January or the Summer?
2) What are the chances of Liverpool buying Diego Ribas da Cunha from Werder Bremen in January or the Summer?

{Ed002's Note - (1) Clubs do not buy players because they are supporters. Arda was certainly looked at by Liverpool but clearly those that were in control of transfers did not progress any initial interest. Eventually he moved to Spain. We knew very early on that he would be leaving Galatasaray for Atletico Madrid once money had been freed up through the sale of Aguero - although there was strong interest from elsewhere. Arda Turan will most likely move this coming summer subject to a suitable bid being made - something in the order of £18M-£20M. The likely destinations are England and Italy although there remains a chance that German interest from both B ayern Munich and Schalke 04 will still be there - and an outside chance of a return to Turkey. Atletico Madrid have already rejected a move from Schalke saying they do not want to sell in January. (2) There seems to be a number of questions about Diego so I guess this is something from Twitter. Diego is, for the first time, settled in to the Wolfsburg team with Magath out of the way. He comes with very significant baggage and would, in my view, be an entirely dumb move by BR. I am not aware of interest from Liverpool at this time. Lingering interest from Sporting Lisbon and Botofogo could attract him at some point.}

1) I wasn't asking if we could buy Arda Turan because he's a fan, I was asking because he's a talented player and there are rumours.
You said Arda Turan is likely to go to Italy or England in the Summer, is Liverpool one of the English teams interested?

2) So from the paragraph, it's a no to Diego Ribas da Cunha?

{Ed002's Note - (1) The summer is a long way off and I really would not want to predict moves for then. However, Liverpool may well be an interested party - but he will not come cheap. (2) Diego could easily backfire and Rodgers does not strike me as someone who whould look to that type of risk.}

edo2 now that snijder finally gone to gala do you think they will be willing to let inan gothis window if so would we be able to move for him this window? also ed who you think the experianced loan could be cheers

mike {Ed002's Note - I think as a prospect the summer seems more likely.}

Eds what is the full situation with Coutinho, as in

Some papers reported we bid £8m and other people are saying there is confirmed interest,

Any englightenment would be wholey appreciated

Thanks {Ed001's Note - the only thing I heard was that we asked about taking him on a loan, I think that must have been the one Ed002 mentioned. I have no knowledge of any bid to sort a permanent deal, I only know of our loan bid, which was rejected.}

We should be looking at buying him out right, we bid £6.7m which was rejected it is now thought we are going back with a bid of £8m, which falls short of their 12m euros they want. How ever I expect the deal to go through.

BigD {Ed002's Note - I understand that an offer was made and it is possible another may be made. However, I would suspect if he is allowed to leave then there might well be some serious interest from Southamption to contend with.}

Id hope that Liverpool would be able to pursaude him to Join us over Southampton, as I think he is a good player but could become a very good player.

I heard a few months back Liverpool where looking at Andre Schurrle of Bayer Leverkusen. I know he fits the bill of FSG policy and I was wondering if the eds knew of any interest? Now that Downing is playing well I doubt it though {Ed001's Note - the only club I know of that made a move for him were Chelsea.}

Hey eds
Been a while, I'm thinking ince will be summer at this stage and I don't even see Carroll as lfc anymore, but I'm seeing paper talk of dszudak any truth in that?
Lfcpaddy {Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware, his agent has also denied we have any interest in him, which is unusual, they normally try and talk up interest to get a better deal.}

He would be a very good buy, he has also said that he would like to move as he has been in the capital a few years now and still can't settle in, Price may be a stumbling block.

BigD {Ed002's Note - I suspect you are confusin Dzsudzsak with someone else regarding his time in the "Capital". You have to remember the reason for his move from Anzhi a year ago and you have to consider that as of this time there has not been interest shown by Liverpool. If he becomes available, you are right, he would be expensive.}

20 Jan 2013 23:19:29
What price range would Fischer and eriksen be in? I'm guessing Ajax would demand a lot.

Thanks {Ed002's Note - I would not worry about the price - desire to buy and desire to move are the initial concerns.}

Minor hurdles Ed - didn't you know they're both life-long fans of LFC. The real question that needs answering, is which one is a smokescreen and which one are we really going to sign?

Liverpres

Fischer would be more than Erickson

Hi eds, quick question- do you think ince and coutinho could both be bought in this window? Seem like the 2 realistic targets were being linked with
Jon h {Ed002's Note - I would doubt it.}

20 Jan 2013 23:30:54
I got a felling it's going to be a totally left field transfer window. Left field being: Russia or Holland. Hopefully we get something good.
P.S. Coutinho was special in Espanol.
P.S.S. I hate when I see lightweight atached to Coutinho, how can anyone know that, it's not all about size, it's about additude and grit. {Ed002's Note - It is what Inter coaches considered him to be. Perhaps not the best term, I agree.}

Yep, I also hate the term light weight.

Perhaps all the talented footballers under 5' 10 and 11 stone, should be banned from playing? Since they're light weights.
