Hi eds, I heard that Atheltico Madrid forward Diego Costa is very interested to move to Liverpool, and also am I right in thinking that he wanted to move in the summer, to Liverpool, and he wanted to play with Suarez, with Suarez signing a new long-term contract yesterday, will this be a good deal, as FSG are giving Liverpool £50,000,000 t spend on a marquee signing and I think he will be a great addition to our positive looking squad

If the 'marquee' signing isn't going to be Diego Costa, who do you think we should go for? Although the Mohamed Salah deal looks complete, I don't think that he will be a big signing, he looks like a brilliant player, I don't think he will be the 'marquee' signing.

I think we need a midfielder such as Juan Mata or maybe somebody from abroad, such as Ilkay Gundogan, he is a brilliant part of the works of Borussia Dortmund and he might be the one to replace Steven Gerrard, when he retires.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, if you have

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Dortmund and Monaco are interested in Costa but there will be concerns over leaving Spain in January. I would not hold your breath of £50M to spend in January, Gundogan or Mata. Salah will be a good signing if it goes ahead.}

Costa would be a great addition as would Mata. I can't see us getting Gundogan but Shaquiri is a possibility. If the 50M spending is true that would be great!

Not that this is fact but I have read that Diego Costa is said to have signed a new contract at the beginning of the season, which apparently included a 32 million (Pounds or Euro's, i'm not sure) release clause in it.

I have since read that Arsenal are turning their interests towards him [Costa] as an alternative target to our fantastic Luis Suarez. So who knows?

Hi Eds, Any truth in the rumours about Cabaye? I reckon he could be a great addition to the side. If not him what about Pastore or Mata?
Thanks

{Ed002's Note - If Cabaye were to move it would likely be to a side who can provide Champions League football, but I have no expectation he will in January unless a significant bid is made. Roma and PSG are certainly both interested.

Pastore may well be moving next summer - and it is possible that PSG will let him leave in January if a suitable bid is made or if an offer of a loan and guaranteed playing time is possible. I understand that AC Milan, Roma and Fenerbahce have asked to be informed if Pastore is available and his agent has spoken with Napoli, Zenit and AC Milan in addition to both Chelsea and Spurs. Right now his form is questionable as it was for most of last season and the player may well wish to move on if he does not get a regular place in the team. His agent has suggested also that Napoli have approached him directly. Right now, the interest of Liverpool is speculative only although they did make an enquiry about the player in 2010. Roma and Napoli would seem the two most viable options if he were to be available.

At the start of the summer window there was interest in Chelsea's Mata from Barcelona and Real Madrid and, whilst Chelsea do not wish to sell, there is still interest from PSG.}

Thanks for the fast response. Another good win for us again today. Hopefully we can get in 1 or 2 good players in January but anything can happen especially on deadline day! Thanks and have a good Christmas!

PSG apparently want Mata to be one of the faces to help replace the hole in their squad, as Lavezzi, Lucas Moura and Javier Pastore are all apparently set to be allowed to leave for the right prices with the three failing to live up to high hopes and financial outlays it saw to get them. I don't know if this is true, or has elements of truth in it, but Lucas Moura was apparently very upset about losing his place in the Brazilian squad earlier this year. Pastore suffered with a touch of the cursed second syndrome season last year and has been played sparingly so far this term and i've read that Lavezzi is getting slated for not scoring enough, with only scoring 3 goals in the League last season and only scoring 2 in the League so far this season.

I only mention it because this to some respect seems plausible to a point. Like always, i'd be happy if an Ed were to put the bullet in the back of the head, if this is just total rubbish or a dot to dot look at transfer'ology.

Shame for the League and for Mata if true, as i've always thought of Mata as a top top player and a good guy of the game. Would've loved him at Liverpool as a personal like for his abilities and remember watching him at Valencia all those moons ago, naively thinking he was arriving at the end of the season and that Rafa would get his man, the final piece of the puzzle, I might not be alone in that memory. :)

Word on the net is Suarez contract has clause in it allowing him to leave only over sea's if the price is met from next summer. So not as good as we were hoping, just hope its a shed load of cash and they don't meet it.

Believable7 Unbelievable44

That's word on the net, who has no access to the contract that was signed. For all we know, he's earning 10 a week with a 40 billion release clause.

Well that word "on the net" is probably worth less than the paper it's written on!

I told you all this the other day as a mate of Stevie's told me.

The Net eh? Never wrong then.

I've seen a lot of stories that Salah is "99% sure to be joining Liverpool, " including a video of one of his friends and former team-mates saying that it would happen on Arabic TV. What's your opinion Eds? I know you've said that there's interest in him, but are we really that close? Any info would be appreciated!

{Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware nothing is done or settled. But, he, so I am told, is keen to join Liverpool, if we do agree a deal with his club. Apparently, we are his first choice. But then Turan would have chosen us over everyone and anyone and we showed plentiful interest and never signed him. So it is by no means 99% certain.}

What a mistake that was he is a super player
