Ed's do you still believe that we will sign ince?
Cheers {Ed001's Note - I have never believed we would be able to get a deal done to sign him. Blackpool have an option to extend his contract by a year and so will want to hang onto him until the summer, in my opinion. I expect them to only sell to the highest bidder, we are unlikely to be that as we don't need him as much as some of the other teams interested in him. They don't really need the money, they have plenty stashed away and run a tight budget.}

Thanks Ed, do you still expect more transfer to happen though? {Ed001's Note - personally I am not expecting anything else to happen, though I am sure the club will continue to try and complete another deal for a forward.}

Eds did believe that ince would be the other signing after sturridge. It can be quoted many times. {Ed001's Note - I didn't. So you won't be able to quote me on it. I have always said we will try and get him, but I have never been confident in our ability to convince him to join us. I have always maintained that he will follow his dad's advice and go where he will get to play first team football for definite. Most likely someone like Stoke in the summer.}

Hi eds

since nothing came of Wesley Sneijder. I think we should go for his brother Rodney, 21 yrs old and plays just like wes did at that age. what do you think? {Ed002's Note - Clutching at straws I am afraid.}

Pretty sure del boy at qpr will snap him up first.

KUMBER

You plonker!

He's a very good player is Rodney wouldn't of thought it would be clutching at straws

Toad

You never know, I hear chelsea signed hazards brother. Though it is doubtful

Or his Gran, she got a hammer of a right foot!

Why not put a cheeky bid in for Torres in this transfer window. It looks like he is crying out for LFC to take him back where he belongs.He should never have left in the 1st place and we can get his career back on track for him before the next world cup. {Ed002's Note - I think there would be better ways to spend that sort of money.}

Nice try, Rafa, not going to happen

cozinoz

Why on earth would we want to sign Torres? Are you drunk?

Amazes me that there are any fans who would seriously consider having him back at all. Have you forgotten the manner in which he left? Far as I'm concerned, he burned his bridges when he told board to accept Chelsea bid as he wanted to go.

How many million would constitute a "cheeky bid"? Oh and did you watch Torres on t.v. yesterday? he couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo never mind the back of the net.

The Plank

'why not put a cheeky bid in for torres' 3 words, because he's terrible {Ed052's Note - he's, is two words, do 4 in total :P }

Hi Eds,

Any chance of Wiltshire?

I read somewhere that he may leave at some point in the future?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Not in the near term.}

Thanks Eds,

Is it expected that he will move or have I misunderstood?

thanks {Ed002's Note - I have no expectations that he will in the near term.}

Hi Eds

A Juventus friend of mine told me Beppe Marotta (their CEO) is working flat out to bring Suarez to Juventus. He told me they are preparing to go as high as 40 Mil euros for him. Apparently they are not happy with their frontline and Suarez alone has scored as many goals for us as their entire frontline in Seria A, he told me. Juve want to make a mark in the Champions League this season and with Llorente not going there until the summer he told me Juve may strike at the very end of this window, as they see Suarez as the ideal signing to make this happen.
Any grain of truth in this?
Thanks for the great work (I think Coutinho is really lightweight for Premier League)
GALF {Ed002's Note - There is a lot of truth in it - and the interest is nothing new. They are looking at two fowards and have a budget. One will be Llorente and one will play off him - for that they see three options, one of which is Suarez. It gets raised now and again on these pages.}

Who are the other 2 ed002, if you don't mind me asking? I understand from previous comments that Alexis Sanchez is one but who's the other?
Jason {Ed002's Note - Jovetic.}

Let's be honest every player has a price, but Suarez has to be valued a lot higher than 40 mil Euros. Ronaldo went to Real for GBP 70 mil, Ibrahimovic went for about GBP 42 mil. Suarez has to be valued in the GBP 50 - 60 mil area.

ChrisE {Ed002's Note - Comparisons are meaningless.}

Haha.. Dreamers as if they could pay 60 million.. If he leaves it will be psg Madrid if CR7 leaves or a real outside chance of bayern.. I wouldn't be surprised if city tried but I'd say he'd reject them

40 wouldn't buy his left Boot..

Never going to happen. Suarez is staying for atleast till the end of the season and next. Only then he decide to go if we haven't made cl football. There might be interest like with the russian club who were after messi but we all know what happened there. Point is suarez is happy and he will give us time but if we fail to get cl next season you can probably say he be off.

Gezza1982

Thanks ed002 I appreciate the reply. if I may ask you to speculate for a second, but would it be fair to say that of these 3 (suarez, sanchez and jovetic) that if they are going to stick to a budget then Suarez would likely be the more expensive of the three?
Jason {Ed002's Note - I think so, yes. But it would give Liverpool enough money to by Sanchez.}

After the debacle of the proposed transfer of Aquilani, is it likely that Liverpool would be in any rush to have any dealings with Juve? Especially in a deal that would involve their star player for a fee little more than we paid for him? {Ed002's Note - It makes no difference - it is business not the playground.}

In the summer window anything could happen of course, but I don't believe Suarez will leave at the end of Jan, and I don't believe LFC will let him go and then have no time left to find a replacement as they did with Torres- unless we already have a striker lined up.

If Juve had bid two weeks ago then who knows- but its too late now, and I think Suarez will see the season out.

I wouldn't have ill feelings towards Suarez if he left Liverpool for Champions League football. He is a genius but I'd love nothing more than him to stay and achieve great things with us. He loves Liverpool and really appreciates being here but a footballers career is a short one. I just can't get enough

You think we want Sanchez to replace Suarez if he goes ed ? {Ed002's Note - The summer is a long way off.}

Suarez has signed a new contract recently so our strong point is that we can set a prohibitively high asking price (60 M at least). That should put most clubs off. The problem comes when the dreaded agents start to unsettle him and he puts in a request (Torres saga).
G

What stupid comments about this "lightweight". Mata is lightweight also.

Hi Ed's I know you don't like rating players, but I would like to ask you about Coutinho as I really haven't seen enough of him to make any sort of assessment was just wandering your opinion on whether or not he would be a worthwhile signing with the likes of suso in our squad?

Do you also think with Sneijder going to Gala we could make a move for selcuk inan?

Thanks,
Rk {Ed002's Note - I am not convinced Coutinho would be the best buy for the EPL to be honest. There has been interest in Inan but perhaps the summer is more likely.}

Imo I think he would be a better buy then ince I think we could play him as a cf like luis he seems to have that skill to meg and turn so fast and keep the ball close with pace to play on the wings but ed 002 does o his soccer

20 Jan 2013 21:11:51
Eds hearing we may be interested in Diego, currently playing in Germany. Any truth.. Thanks {Ed052's Note - nope}

20 Jan 2013 20:50:46
Sneijder to Galatasary confirmed. The eds must be over the moon.

I agree sick of his name

20 Jan 2013 20:38:51
No coutinho in the inter squad today, Eds/ ed002 do you have any reason for this ?

cheers

yoyoman {Ed002's Note - He is by no means a regular and is seen as a little light weight by them. No need to worry about him being in Southampton - just yet. Perhaps Tuesday though?}

20 Jan 2013 21:20:36
Ed any chance of moussa sow I heard him coming in for around 12million in next few days and also have we got any interest in yoann gourcuff and iago aspas or even benat all good players so would be good additions also we need a good centre back (e.gRaul Albiol, Pepe, Benidikt Howedes) so can you please reply because I would like to no of any interest thanks {Ed052's Note - no, Sow wont sign}

20 Jan 2013 20:26:52
Liverpool have placed a firm request in for werder bremen's 24 year old centre half Sokratis. The Greek defender has worked with ex Liverpool man sotirios kyrgiakos.......... copy and pasted this you heard anything yourself?? {Ed002's Note - Strikes me as unlikely but I have heard nothing.}

20 Jan 2013 20:10:10
If reina was to go to barça, which gk do you think would be most likely to arrive? What about Leno from bayer Leverkusen?
Henry from Kent {Ed002's Note - Barcelona has no interest in Reina.}

Aren't Barca after one of the talented German keepers?
Jamie... {Ed002's Note - Belgian - Courtois.}

Mignolet from Sunderland would be my choice Altho I understand BR would want Vorm
Daniellambretta

Judging by the number of Swansea players BR is supposed to fancy I wonder why he ever left there.

The Plank

The only one he should get is michu!
Does seem a pattern tho doesn't it either Chelsea or swans players
Daniellambretta

Would Chelsea be willing to sell Courtois, Ed002? I thought he was supposed to be Cech's long term replacement? Great keeper either way. {Ed002's Note - Whether they want to sell or not, he is playing well so there is interest in the player. The same is true of Suarez and Falcao etc., if performances are good then the club expects approaches from elsewhere.}

20 Jan 2013 19:56:09
Eds, I've seen that people on here mainly are saying about Suarez to Bayern Munich since the appointment of Guardiola. Now, would this be because his agent is Pep's brother and that because Suarez is a similar type of player to Messi, Guardiola will look to Suarez as he tries to replicate his Barcelona style?

I'm also assuming that it's rubbish, right?

I do think pep will bid for him because he is a similar type of player to messi, they can't afford messi so suarez would be the next in line suarez must be worth at least 60 million do, mark

Suarez has a 35 million buy out clause, believe what you want but you will see in the Summer

Anon

Can't see Guardiola playing his cards so soon, especially with regard to Falcao as it would probably force Chelsea's hand. I hope this is just another rumour, as I don't want Suarez to go anywhere, just wish I could be more confident.

Why would suarez have a buy out clause of just 10 million more than we payed for him? and you don't know so rubbish

We need to do what we did with Stevie G when he nearly went to Chelsea and make him the MAN to build the team around. Stevie is still our captain but Suarez is our NEW talisman now and we MUST make sure he stays at LFC for a long time. We need to buy in QUALITY ESTABLISHED players in the summer to prove to Suarez we can and will get into the top 4 and get Champions league football.

20 Jan 2013 22:50:40
Buy out clause if liverpool fail to qualify for champions league, and a champions league club pays us £38 million, Believe!
All we need to do is get into champions league, and then its not happening, suarez and his agent aren't stupid, that's why there's a clause, just wish we done what the spanish and portugese do, and put £100 million release clauses in players not half of suarez!

Did anyone hear about guardiola saying he wanted falcao and suarez to be his strikers? if its true what's going to happen to gomez and muller

Suarez does not have a buy out clause. Suarez DID have a buy out clause - this was removed when he signed the contract this summer as it's main function was protection against him being unable to settle in England.

20 Jan 2013 19:50:28
Wesley Sneijder Has Agreed A 3 and a Half Year Deal With Galatasary. A Deal Worth 4.5M A Year. So Eds If liverpool was interested they would have known what's happening. Is it wages that was an issue or simply Liverpool not interested.

William Weir. {Ed002's Note - Why not read the posts?}

20 Jan 2013 19:23:05
Hi Eds,

Looks like you were right in saying on Friday that it will all become clear by Sunday and it has. Am I right In saying that he is more than likely to move to Galatasary or a slim chance that he will stay with Inter. Nothing At all regarding LFC. Basically 2 options. Finally and slowly coming to terms he won't be coming ( sad face)
Lol.

GAM# {Ed002's Note - I suspect the slim chance of staying at Inter has now disappeared as well.}

IRedst be reading something different then. Both clubs have had bids accepted, both have offered contracts but Gala have now offered signing on fee. Up to Liverpool to stick or twist. Outcome will be clear by end of tomorrow.

Gav the Red {Ed002's Note - None of that is true.}

Sntejder has joined to Gala and this
is a fact

20 Jan 2013 20:16:02
its always the same at liverpool we never here nothing till the deal is done.

20 Jan 2013 19:22:30
Eds great job with the site. With Coates possibly leaving, and carragher possibly retiring, has LFC shown any recent interest in Dede of vasco de gama? I believe he is on the national team so a work permit could be possible.
-Red American {Ed002's Note - Manchester United, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Fiorentina, Benfica and Roma have shown an interest in Vasco's Dede over the past couple of years. Recently AC Milan, Barcelona, Anzhi, Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been keeping a watching brief on the player in the months leading up to the end of the Brazilian season. A bid has been made by Corinthians although I understand it is not a destination the player would consider right now.}

Thanks Ed.

20 Jan 2013 18:51:23
With tv reporting that Inter are in talks with us over Coutinho which is promising, do you believe we will still go for Ince or will it be either or? Thanks for the constant updates Eds {Ed002's Note - I still think a deal can be done for Ince.}

Which tv station is this being reported on?

20 Jan 2013 18:40:07
Eds is it true about an '11th hour bid for sneijder' which is apparently being reported at sky italia. If it's true i'm guessing it's us right? {Ed002's Note - From whom? Schalke were clear that the price was much too high.}

On a liverpool rumours page who else would us refer to ed002, lame retort. {Ed002's Note - All sorts of questions are asks about all sorts of clubs. Schalke 04 were approached again to see if they could put an offer on the table. The world does not revolve around LFC - or would you prefer I lie to you and tell you that Liverpool were in there to the last minute preparing an offer?.}

20 Jan 2013 18:31:52
PSG have had a bid of 10m euros accepted for Sneijder. They are prepared to offer the player close to the sum he wants

96 YNWA {Ed002's Note - No, Sneijder is not moving to Liverpool. They could never afford a deal like that. He will be moving to Gala.}

PSG dear ed not Liverpool {Ed002's Note - OK, he won't be going there either. They were one of the two clubs spoken to on January 10.}

How can they afford him? {Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

Erm, ed, don't think liverpool were mentioned in this rumour... {Ed002's Note - As I explained - he won't be moving to PSG either.}

Er, he doesn't mention liverpool in the post eds?! {Ed002's Note - You are right - he mentioned another team that will not be signing Sneijder.}

Psg not FSG ;)

Gala cannot afford him either......and will come to realise this when they have to pay his wages week in week out.....its a ridiculous wage for any one player......it would pay at least 4 wages to 4 very good players...

How is it that Gala can afford him?

We could but will end up wasting the money on 4 rubbish players as usual. its been 20+ years si ce we were champions and the way lfc are going it will be another 20+ years before they even get close again

20 Jan 2013 17:45:22
Eds in your honest opinion what do rate the possibility of a deal for coutinho would inter be willing to let him go or is it all depending on a) sneijder leaving or b) paulinho signing for inter think the kid is a fine young player just can't see why they would let him go or even wether he would be willing to leave for us. Thanks.

RedTillDead {Ed002's Note - I have explained this already - people are getting sick of reading it.}

I hear that!! (no offense Ed)

20 Jan 2013 16:45:59
Hi eds were liverpool ever interested in Brek Shea from Dallas FC he looks like a typical Torres sort of player? {Ed002's Note - You mean slow, lacking confidence and missing most chances? Shea will most probably complete his deal with Stoke. I can't recall any interest from Liverpool.}

I live in texas and trust me, Shea sucks. Plain and simple.

Come on Ed, stop sitting on the fence about Torres- is he any good or what?

Slow, are you kidding ? Have you ever watched one of his matches. Clint Dempsey isn't a speed demon either. His lack of confidence was due to the buffoon manager clashing heads with him. Not LFC quality your right, but you still don't know what your talking about on this one. Save your anti comments for English rejects like Joe Allen, Henderson, etc.. DR

Whether there's any merit to ed's comment is open for debate - one I'm not interested in getting involved in; however, the fact remains that we have on our hands, gentlemen (if I may so call you that), an excellent burn.

Let me lay it down again: excellent burn.

- Logic {Ed001's Note - it is worrying the stupidity evidenced in people not understanding that Ed002 was clearly talking about Torres with that description! I really fear for this world if people are so unable to read a simple sentence and understand it. Oh and Brek Shea is nothing more than an average player.}

20 Jan 2013 16:45:19
can I ask if there is any interest in marc ter Stegen I very promising keeper and could challenge pepe for 1st team, also I feel we need a rw most of all because suso is too young at the moment and downing is a squad player, are we interested in a rw? cheers {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool in ter Stegen at this time.}

Ter Stegan won't move unless he will be No.1 so it could very well happen in the summer if Reina were to move back to Spain and Liverpool want him. He would defiantly be my choice to replace Reina.

BigD

Ter stegen is my choice too

I'd prefer Kevin Trapp myself but the summer is a while off yet. Stegen aren't having the best of seasons.

But prefer Reina most of all. Hope he stays unless there's good profit to be made and he's well replaced.

Davey Sulls. {Ed002's Note - I am told by someone very knowledgeable in the subject that Eintracht Frankfurt's Kevin Trapp and Fortuna Dusseldorf's Fabian Giefer as being goalkeepers who we could hear much of in the future.}

> "goalkeepers who we could hear much of in the future"

In regards to Liverpool being interested or just transfers in general?

{Ed002's Note - In general.}

20 Jan 2013 16:41:44
Hey ed's sorry if this has been asked already but if we manage to capture Coutinho that would rule out a move for a No.10 in the summer (e.g Erikson) wouldn't it?

AsianRed {Ed002's Note - Putting aside any thoughts about Eriksen and the summer being a long way off, a permanent move for Coutinho might well scupper plans to buy such a player in the summer.}

It's a no to eriksen, he has made it clear from what I'm told that he wants a spurs move!

Coutinho usually plays from the left so technically they could both play together

20 Jan 2013 16:40:41
I have heard that FSG are prepared to sanction a deal for Sneijder and will sign him Monday/Tuesday. I know this has been said quit a lot over the last couple of weeks but this has come from within the club (can not mention names as trust will go). We are sorting the deal at the moment which should be 100K a week wages if we get into the champions league (BR/FSG still think we have a good chance) and 70K wages a week if in Europa league.

I know these wages are still high but Sneijder wants to come to us for footballing reasons not money and does not want to go to Turkey.
Maybe ed/Macca can confirm if they has heard as this has only been discussed/thrashed out since owners arrived this week and talked through with BR and IA. {Ed002's Note - I really canot se this happening, sorry. I have explained what I know about the Sneijder situation and have provided a good amount of detail. For now those in Rome are eating prior to the game. Sneijder has likely left Italy already.}

Funny that, because its common knowledge he is on his way too Turkey as you typed this pathetic bs

I hope to be true mate

We know your contact already its ronald mcdonald.

Liverpool are to make a 6 million euro offer to Ajaccio for Guillermo Ochoa.

Ochoa The Best Goalkeeper

20 Jan 2013 16:32:19
Sneijder aren't coming to LFC, he was interviewed on italian tv this afternoon live, saying he doesn't want to leave inter, and he's meeting moratti today to discuss his contract......... moratti has said that he will give sneijder til tuesday to agree terms, otherwise he can go to gala..... we weren't even mentioned......

20 Jan 2013 16:27:59
I can't understand why persons want to swap reina with valdes, who is a worse goalkeeper. Also stop asking the eds the same questions all time about sneider and other potential targets that he has already explained about a hundred times!

20 Jan 2013 16:25:10
Hi Ed,
According to sky italia, it's deal done
Later on today sneijder will sign for
Galatasaray.

Thanks MALTA. {Ed002's Note - Yes, I believe his signing is very likely imminent. There remains the one recent issue to resolve with Gala but I suspect it will not be an issue.}

How can an issue not be an issue?haha.sorry

20 Jan 2013 16:11:50
Sebastian Coates is of interest to both WBA and Newcastle, with the latter rumoured to have lodged a £9m offer. We're in talks with Inter Milan regarding Phillipe Coutinho; the Sneijder deal is dead. I still expect the Ince deal to go through, as well as a move for Davide Astori to replace Seba.

I don't think we will be interested in Ince if we get Coutinho.

20 Jan 2013 15:51:06
Any update on sneijder?

{Ed002's Note - The situation is: (1) Liverpool has made no offer to Inter for Sneijder. (2) The exclusivity agreement expired on Tuesday night and for the first time since the Gala offer was accepted Inter could talk to another club. (3) Neither of the two clubs approached by Sneijder's agent on Thursday January 10 are interested at the salary being requested by the player's agent. Neither of the clubs are English but one would certainly be interested if the player';s wage demands dropped to what they consider an acceptable level. (4) The agreement for the fee between Inter and Gala is still in place but Inter want everything resolved ASAP so they can bring in his replacement - and this has now become a complication that could impact a move for Coutinho happening. Inter's preference is for Paulinho but the reluctance by Corinthians to sell and a very high price to persuade them made Inter turn to Belhanda. The interest of Inter was holding up his move to Fenerbahce as he was refusing to agree personal terms - although that is no longer the case and Belhanda has agreed his move to Turkey. (5) Gala has agreed a salary with the player (well publicised in broad net terms) and want the matter resolved so they can make other arrangements if needs be. (6) Sneijder wants matters resolved but wants to see if other offers will be presented, and wants time to consider them. (7) Inter and Sneijder have now resolved the severence deal that was stopping any deal being completed. (8) On Monday (January 14) night a rather bizarre situation came about with previous suitor Fenerbahce's Yildirim saying he could not see how Galatasaray could afford the player and the player should move to the Sukru. Aysal responded saying that he would send his plane to fetch Sneijder and he could agree, as he left the plane, to either "create fire with the lions or fight fire with the birds" - something which sort of passes me by but apparently meaningful in the Asian part of Istanbul. Expectation is that matters will be resolved by Sunday - but I am not sure Sneijder is in agreement with that. (9) Sniejder has an agent and representatives who will still be seeing if they can attract interest in the player and will no doubt have been chasing several clubs in England. I have found out two have been approached and have made it clear they have no interest - and I would think others including Liverpool will also have been approached directly now. His agent has said that there was only "timid" interest from England. (10) Aware that other offers are not forthcoming and clearly not keen on a move to Turkey as a first choice, Sneijder has returned to Inter saying he will accept their original offer and extend his contract on reduced terms. For now, Inter say that offer is no longer available to the player (January 19). A further meeting was held between Sneijder and the Inter management early on January 20 regarding the possibility of him staying at the club - and it appears that there might be an opportunity to do that if he does not move to Galatasaray - who will indded walk aqway from the deal if they do not get an answer by Tuesday. (11) Sneijder's team is now requesting an additional payment be made to them to cover additional agent's costs that have been incurred. They will no doubt get whatever the Turkish equivalent of a shrug is.}

Really useful post thanks ed, this format should remain at the top of the page when there is an influx of posts re a specific player to 'reduce' (slightly) the amount of repeat posts you get.

Dan

Ed Sneijder to gala is done then? {Ed002's Note - Pretty much; there remains the slim chance of him staying at Inter.}

The Turkish equivalent of a shrug is a a middle finger - it's a land of passion :P {Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

20 Jan 2013 14:36:59
Hearing that liverpool are lining up an 8m bid for anzhi playmaker mbark boussafa any truth? {Ed002's Note - There were rumours about interest in Boussoufa from Zenit and Olympiakos.}

20 Jan 2013 14:21:45
Newcastle have made a £9mil bid for Seb Coates which will most likely be accepted by the club. Liverpool looking to raise some funds in this window to secure a couple of signings. Isimat Mirin for £3mil, Tom Ince for £6mil and there is around £7-9mil left over from the budget should Coates move to the north east.

Red Bez

I wish he sty with Liverpool

6 million for Tom Ince I personaly would not pay that, 4.5 max

Cant see it meself coates isn't worth 9million, maybe 1 day yeah, but at the min liverpool will be lucky to get 5million if we sold him

I don't think we should buy any of these players.. Take that 9 million.. Spend it on countinho or sneijder.. We already have wisdom Kelly skrtel agger and carra until the summer to play at cb

Whether or not Coates is WORTH £9 million it is quite clear Newcastle are desperate to make signings and they do have the proceeds from the sale of Ba so it is not impossible they'd pay that much.God knows we paid £15 million for Allen!

The Plank

9 mill for Coates? Haha, yea right.

9 Million.. Cool.. Maybe Newcastle are finally starting to feel guilty about ripping us off over Carroll.
Take it.

If it's Newcastle, we'll think about thinking about it at £15M.

Do something Wesley sign or don't. Eds why all the speculation and build up from Stevie, Brendan and his agent. Any updates of him staying or England or Turkey

GAM# {Ed002's Note - I have provided two updates today already.}

What build up from Stevie Gee? I watched the show and all Steve said was "Wesley would be nice but signings are up to the manager!"Our club skipper would never, like some dopes have claimed, appear on t.v. and tell Rogers to buy a player.

20 Jan 2013 14:13:26
Ed's, this is probably a very complicated issue. But for us yonk's out here, can you explain the difficulty in obtaining a work permit? It is something unheard of here in the states. You also mentioned coutinho doesn't come from a recognized nation? Finally, this seems to be a much bigger issue for south American players, why? {Ed002's Note - A work permit is required for all non-European Union players and the same rules apply to them all. You have clearly mis-read something I have written about Coutinho because I am pretty certain that I did not say anything along those lines. The US also has strict requirements.

The situation with work permits is that a player will be granted one if (a) he has played 75% of games at full international level for two years for a country ranked reasonably high up, or (b) if an exemption is applied for and granted under the "exceptional talent" provisions. For example, if a case is made to the authorities that a young South American is a demonstrable talent and clearly one for the future, it should be reasonably easy to have an exemption granted. If however, a pretty much run of the mill or average player was being bought and it was clear they are not appreciably better than those which could be found locally, or are being bought because they are cheap, then it will be much more difficult to obtain a work permit. The downside of the system in the UK is that the "bigger" English clubs can cherry pick the decent talent available and can obtain exemptions, and the rest of the players are assumed not to be talented enough for an exemption (as Chelsea or Manchester United etc. don't want them) and therefore obtaining the exemption is much tougher. Some players can obtain work permits through their parents or grand parents being English.}

How does the rule differ for the other eu countries it seems the italians have no problems signing young south american talent but it seems to be harder for the english clubs {Ed052's Note - different countries have different laws}

......... To add to this moratti has said that everything must be finished by tuesday...... hence if it isn't resolved, then he can go to gala.........

20 Jan 2013 13:39:08
Sneijder is not going to liverpool...... I live in northern italy, and have just watched sneijder being interviewed whilst out and about in milan....... he was interviewed by tv italia...... he has spoken to inter this morning again about a drop in salary, and said he doesn't want to leave inter. His agent is negociating for him to stay in milan.......... check out youtube to see if its been posted on there........ shame.......... which means that they may release the brazilian lad instead.

You mean the Brazilian lad that they have rejected an offer from Liverpool for, but accepted a higher one from Southampton?

Suarez to Bayern ? Reina to Barca?

Would be sad to lose them but both have good contracts with us so who ever wants either of them best bring a big wad of money.

Suarez would start a massive bidding war i'm sure.

No one is bigger than the club and if they leave to get champs league footy then we will be playing against them in the following season i'm sure.

You expect to get CL without Suarez?

End of the day suarez would be a massive lost - not saying we could replace him if we did loose him to Bayern but £40-50mil for suarez could be used to buy one/two top QUALITY players. ie. your cavani,

We expect to get to champs league because we are liverpool. You need to believe in the team rather than 1 player. If he stays then we will have a better chance but I expect us to bring strengthen in the summer and if his head is turned I hope we use the money to bring in other class players.

Keep Suarez get rid of Reina if the money is right.

If we get rid of Reina, then we need to do so only if we get a better player. Butland or making do with Jones, as some have suggested, is pure madness and we'd end up regretting it.

20 Jan 2013 13:17:30
Sneijder's told Inter he'd rather stay and collect his wages than go to the Turkish league. Possibly a ploy to make them accept a lower bid from premier league. Obviously wages remain the stumbling block {Ed002's Note - It is not the transfer fee that is the issue.}

Actually he told them he'd accept the offer of a contract extension they made him and they informed him that the offer was no longer on the table. It looks like Galatasaray will be his only option ir he'll lose face with an extended contract and reduced rate at his current club. {Ed002's Note - The offer from Inter included a reduction and that has again been discussed this morning.}

20 Jan 2013 13:01:20
eds a swap deal maybe with pepe reina and victor valdes.jay essex red for life red till dead... {Ed002's Note - No chance at all Jay.}

Victor Valdes is 31 and if he's no longer good enough to play for Barcelona should we accept their cast off? no thank you!

The Plank

Reina has a long term contract while valdes contarct is expiring...basic football, even if we bring in valdes, barca can't say or get nothing if they try to buy reina which means they will have to pay 25 m

I think reinas better anyway

Morning ED'S

Still doing a fantastic job. Its been a while since I was last on . I have one question for you.Im unsure how much interest we had in Marin before he went for what seemed to be a snip to CFC .Is there or may there be any interest from us to sign him in the summer ?

In your opinion also do you expect Henderson to stay with us, he seems to be settling in now and ha played an important part in recent games, He played some wonderful balls yesterday and scored a bangin goal.The talent is certainly there.

REDFORLIFE {Ed002's Note - The summer is a l;ong way off and I am not aware of any interest that Liverpool has in Marin. Henderson is getting game time and reports are of him playing well, so for now, yes.}

20 Jan 2013 12:16:47
Hi Eds. Not a rumour. Just a thought. If Pepe does move on and the way Newcastle's season is going, I'd like us to go for Krul. Gulacsi will develop into an extremely good keeper but Krul is there already.

A New Keeper as 1st Choice who would you want ? Mine would be either Ter Stegan or Jack Butland

BigD

Gulasci is crap

Butland needs to be bought and loaned out for at least another season as Hart of Man City was. Butland is nowhere near ready to step straight into an EPL team at just 19 and having watched him on televised games it is quite clear he still has a lot to learn.B/ham are on the edge of the relegation zone and having shipped 45 league goals have a goal difference of-9.Clearly their poor defence is nothing like entirely down to Butland but he is still making errors that if Reina made them would have posters here calling for his head.I can recall older so called "prospect" goal keepers jumping straight into a first team after signing and ending up shell shocked and never being right again after conceding masses of goals.

The Plank

I know jones makes some silly mistakes but if reina left I would try and buy butland, put him out on loan next season and have jones in until butland is ready

Jones, Butland, no Reina. All adds up to sheer madness.

20 Jan 2013 12:06:18
Hey eds just wondering if there is anything on Kevin Prince-Boateng? Does it look like he might move now or in the summer? If so have any clubs shown interest? Any information would be great. {Ed002's Note - I would doubt a move this month - the summer is too far off to say.}

20 Jan 2013 11:59:23
Listening to Stevie G on goals on Sunday, looks like Snider is wanted by everyone at the club. The ball is now in his court, I think he could be the missing link now that we have got sturridge. Would love to see Snider playing for us. Ed I know this has been thrashed to death but after Stevie's comments what do you think the chances of getting him are?? {Ed002's Note - Whatever Gerrard says makes no difference to whether or not Liverpool sign him obviously. The situation remains as stated - if he is willing to accept more than half of his wages being taken from him and if Liverpool make an acceptable offer to Inter then perhaps something can happen.}

For god's sake what were you watching.It certainly wasn't Goals on Sunday because Stevie actually said Wesley would be nice to have but he'd never dream of telling the manager who to sign.Where you get the idea it was said "everyone at the club" wants Wesley I haven't a clue.

The Plank

He did sound very upbeat about the possibility. Yes, Gerrard may have no influence over BRs decision but if Sneijder's decision is for footballing reasons, he would relish the chance to play with Gerrard; ergo, has influence over his decision to join. I think there is more to rumours about this transfer, whether this materialises is another matter.

Any updateon the Coutinho bid. Was it rejected? have we or are we likely to make a new bid?
Anything more you can tell us on this eds? {Ed002's Note - Please see the other posts.}

Have seen other posts. I'm asking for any news or change in the situation in the last few hours? not since yesterday. Anything new guys please? {Ed002's Note - I provided a lengthy and current update within the past hour. Quite frankly I don't know why we bother sometimes.}

Would rather play suso than this coutinho fella, he's not that good, can't even get into the brazil sqaud

And if Pepe Reina leaves in Summer ed, what happens to SparkytheWonderDog ?
Does he have to go in quarantine for 6 months ?
A truly devasted The Juicer.. {Ed002's Note - As the snow is getting heavier they will be going inside to plan their journey fo the summer - I have a vision of a false moustache being enough to get Sparky in to the country.}

20 Jan 2013 11:19:19
Great job Ed, appreciate frequently keeping us up to date with the transfer situation. Two questions.

Do you reckon we will come in with an improved offer for Coutinho? Because he has real talent, these are the types of players we should target over mediocre British players with "potential".

Secondly, I am lead to believe from a source that Liverpool have already had one offer rejected for Sneijder's personal terms, and FSG yterday gave the green light for a second, whether its any where near his demands is another question. But what do you make of these alleged offers? Did they happen? Because there is no doubt Rodgers wants him, he's made that clear to the press recently along with Gerrard and Suarez also joining him questioning FSG's policy. Thx

Steven

{Ed002's Note - I think there is every chance of an improved offer for Coutinho but the situation with Philippe Coutinho remains largely unchanged in that Inter are not keen on selling him regardless of interest from Liverpool, Rubin Kazan and Porto and a couple of bids, including one from Liverpool, being rejected. Coutinho has been pushing for more opportunities for a couple of years and Inter had offered to loan Coutinho to Bologna as part of a deal for Gaston Ramirez that eventually fell through in the summer of 2011. He had a few starts early last season and with Inter looking to sell Sneijder everyone I his future in Milan was assured. The loan to Espanyol earlier in 2012 gave him important experience. It now seems that Inter see the replacement for Sneijder to be someone other than Coutinho and this might make a sale or even a loan viable. Coutinho would need a work permit to play in England and that may not be easy to obtain for a permanent move. However, there is now a complication in respect of Coutinho moving and that is the replacement for Sneijder. Inter had a preference for Paulinho but his cost his very high and Corinthians do not want to sell. Their other option was Belhanda and the interest of Inter was holding his move to Fenerbahce up as he was refusing to agree personal terms. However, that is no longer the case so Belhanda is no longer an option.

It is possible that Liverpool did have a proposal rejected by Sneider's representatives as they made a derisory remark regarding English interest. The updated situation is: (1) Liverpool has made no offer to Inter for Sneijder. (2) The exclusivity agreement expired on Tuesday night and for the first time since the Gala offer was accepted Inter could talk to another club. (3) Neither of the two clubs approached by Sneijder's agent on Thursday January 10 are interested at the salary being requested by the player's agent. Neither of the clubs are English but one would certainly be interested if the player';s wage demands dropped to what they consider an acceptable level. (4) The agreement for the fee between Inter and Gala is still in place but Inter want everything resolved ASAP so they can bring in his replacement - and this has now become a complication that could impact a move for Coutinho happening. Inter's preference is for Paulinho but the reluctance by Corinthians to sell and a very high price to persuade them made Inter turn to Belhanda. The interest of Inter was holding up his move to Fenerbahce as he was refusing to agree personal terms - although that is no longer the case and Belhanda has agreed his move to Turkey. (5) Gala has agreed a salary with the player (well publicised in broad net terms) and want the matter resolved so they can make other arrangements if needs be. (6) Sneijder wants matters resolved but wants to see if other offers will be presented, and wants time to consider them. (7) Inter and Sneijder have now resolved the severence deal that was stopping any deal being completed. (8) On Monday (January 14) night a rather bizarre situation came about with previous suitor Fenerbahce's Yildirim saying he could not see how Galatasaray could afford the player and the player should move to the Sukru. Aysal responded saying that he would send his plane to fetch Sneijder and he could agree, as he left the plane, to either "create fire with the lions or fight fire with the birds" - something which sort of passes me by but apparently meaningful in the Asian part of Istanbul. Expectation is that matters will be resolved by Sunday - but I am not sure Sneijder is in agreement with that. (9) Sniejder has an agent and representatives who will still be seeing if they can attract interest in the player and will no doubt have been chasing several clubs in England. I have found out two have been approached and have made it clear they have no interest - and I would think others including Liverpool will also have been approached directly now. His agent has said that there was only "timid" interest from England. (10) Aware that other offers are not forthcoming and clearly not keen on a move to Turkey as a first choice, Sneijder has returned to Inter saying he will accept their original offer and extend his contract on reduced terms. For now, Inter say that offer is no longer available to the player.}

Thanks ed!

The Coon.

20 Jan 2013 11:18:44
Ed do you think we can sign Sneijder or coutinho

Cheers

Limerick Red {Ed002's Note - I think there is a chance of Coutinho if the sale of Sneijder goes ahead and a replacement comes in. Paulinho agrring to his move to Fenerbahce has been a knock for Inter now. They also have to consider Sneijder's latest request.}

20 Jan 2013 11:03:28
Hello Eds! Do you think that the Philippe Coutinho bid might be a 'smokescreen' for the Sneijder bid as they both play for the same club and to prevent other Premier League clubs jumping in.

mikesbeard {Ed002's Note - Of course not. If Liverpool want Sneijder they need to make a bid for him - not for one of his team mates.}

20 Jan 2013 16:59:50
Ed, you don't have a clue half the time. {Ed002's Note - I am sorry, I have put a great deal of effort this weekend to keep people up to date with what has happened regarding both players. There was relentless abuse last night and now it starts again with the trolling from cretins like you.}

20 Jan 2013 19:09:10
Thats what I like about you Ed002, you keep the riff raff in shape.
With regards to your update on Sneidjer, that must have taken ages. Thanks.

Hey eds as you said that tom ince is almost a done deal..bt the question is do we actually need him..as we have many in that position....n do you still hold your breath on jeffren suarez...as you were holding strongly on him quite a weeks ago.. {Ed002's Note - It was not me that said Ince was a "done deal" that was Macca. I personally still think a deal can be completed. I explained that Liverpool made an approach about taking Jeffren on loan but it has been quiet since then. However, taking a player on loan might be an option and there has been interest shown in Coutinho.}

20 Jan 2013 10:26:15
Coutiho is very willing to come. Strangely he was asked about joining Liverpool almost a year ago, I could never find out if we bid back then but did post about him being asked if was interested in Liverpool. Far as I know he is still very keen on coming.

Guillermo Ochoa goalkeeper for Ajaccio being looked at by the clubs scouts apparently

Shanklys statue

Ive seen him a few times and he looks pretty good

20 Jan 2013 10:17:14
Hi Eds, can you please tell me if Sneijder is still training with Inter or has he been totally outcasted. In the unlikely event that Lfc sign him would he be weeks away to full fitness. Just thinking big wages for a unfit player lacking match time too. {Ed002's Note - Sneijder turned up as expected after the short winter break and has been training with the squad this week - although he did miss some sessions as his transfer was being dealt with.}

20 Jan 2013 10:09:00
ed, do you think the countinho bid will be accepted? thanks {Ed002's Note - Please read yesterday's posts.}

20 Jan 2013 09:54:39
I am hearing that reina will leave in the summer and that Rodgers will go for vorm as replacement. I would look T mignolet I Sunderland who is class.

Also think we need to loan a winger now for the rest of the season as sterling isn't the finished article and downs is hit and miss.
Really positive Bout the rest of the season tho:-)
Daniellambretta

Glad you ain't the coach, who we going to get better than raheem ?

Rednick

I'm not saying he isn't going to be world class but as he admits he isn't scoring and I could see in the man united game he isn't there yet and it's good that he doesn't think he is otherwise it could have been the tom Ince scenario all over again!

We need another winger IMO its that simple

Daniellambretta

Oh God if he plays for Swansea we better sign him eh? Of bloody course Raheem isn't the finished article he's only 18 but he won't improve by not playing you dope.stick to fantasy football and leave the team selection to the manager in real life.

The Plank

Totally agree plank he's a young lad who is playing well for the team, he may not be the "finished article" but, along with oxlade-chamberlain, is amongst the best young players in europe, some people need to be paitent, rome wasnt built in a day, we need time to get back to our best, even the legend that is Shankley took time to make us the best team in the world.

Lads my post was about reina leaving and who would replace him. Stories are that vorm would be BR's preference but my shout was mignolet.

Sterling is quality but we need another winger to come in its simple. Not fantasy but reality

Who would you loan as winger and who would you wnt to replace Rainer then if I'm playing fantasy football?

There are a lot better keepers than Mignolet if Reina should decide to move. Begovic, Muslera, Handanovic, Adler, Ter Stegen and Steklenburg all spring to mind.

20 Jan 2013 09:41:37
Hi eds great site btw. Just wondered if there would still be interest in ter stegen if pepe goes? Thanks {Ed002's Note - You say "still" but I don't know of any Liverpool interest in him. If pressed, I don't see him moving to Liverpool.}

20 Jan 2013 09:40:51
Pepe Reina will be on his way either now or in the summer to Athletico Madrid/Barcelona, both are interested as Courtois will go back to Chelsea and Valdes will not renew his contract. Butland, Courtois and Fernando Muslera are BR's main targets. {Ed002's Note - I am pretty sure that neither Courtois nor Muslera will be moving to Liverpool. But Liverpool did make an approach to Butland's agent.}

20 Jan 2013 09:24:07
Hi Eds, do you think LFCs bid for Coutinho was a stunt to bring the Tom Ince deal to a head? {Ed002's Note - Of course not.}

I imagine Oyston would be overjoyed if we bought Coutinho.

20 Jan 2013 09:23:42
Will Liverpool make another bid for coutinho? {Ed002's Note - Possibly but there is a complication in respect of Sneijder's relplacement that may make Inter reluctant to sell immediately.}

20 Jan 2013 09:21:20
how about today rumour with sneider? {Ed002's Note - Something like he now wants to stay at Inter you mean?}

Sneijder is saying this because he wants Inter to accept the 4.5 million tranfer fee Liverpool are offering!

Brad {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not made any offer to Inter for Sneijder.}

20 Jan 2013 09:14:20
So if you believe the papers than we are going to sell Reina to Barcelona 7 Suarez to B.Munich.

Reina to Barcelona could very well happen in the summer but only if Barcelona want him and Liverpool would have to bring in a new Goalkeeper before we allowed it.

Suarez to B.Munich will not happen as I firmly believe that he will give us 1 more season after this season, and even if he were to want to move than we are in a good position as he recently signed a new deal so we could demand a very high price which he is defiantly worth.

BigD

Well if he did go they be munich allegedly want falcao too so if saurez wanted to go i'm sure we could ask for gomez as part of any deal I know exchanges are rare but worth a punt i'm hoping saurez won't want to leave but time will tell

Don't think Liverpool will pay £14m for Coutinho i'd imagine it would be more like £10m maybe £11m at best, but as the eds say work permit issues will be a major stumbling block. Although I think he is a very good player and would certainly improve our team.

BigD {Ed002's Note - I am not sure a Work Permit would be a major stumbling block, but he does require one and won't get it by the route of being an International player for a recognised nation.}

Special talent route then Ed? {Ed002's Note - Right.}

20 Jan 2013 09:04:11
tv, pep guadiola wants to take swarez to bm and pepe is going back to barca
Have you heard anything eds {Ed002's Note - No, but it would not be out of the question.}

Yeah and we'd like Messi but it doesn't mean it's going to happen.

The Plank

Can I just say why would any1 want to go and play in any other league than the prem it is by far the best maybe not in quality of play but excitement and popularity over the world nowhere comes close. I just can't see Suarez leaving any time soon he loves Liverpool fc for the support showed he is an idol here and I beleive his family are settled and happy. If anything it would be agents pushing for a move for a big payday I hate the way the game has gone its agents that turn players heads it is disgusting I think they are just leeches and something needs to be done about them. Sorry rant over

Davros

On the over hand you could say why would saurez want to stay he's villified in the press most of it is brought on himself tho but maybe he will think munich champions league challenging for titles straight away where as we might not make see league this year and won't be challenging for titles for a minimum 2 years you could hardly blame him i'm hoping he's seeing the improvement decides to stay at least 1 more year but i'm not holding my breath

20 Jan 2013 08:49:17
Eds, any chance that Carlos Fierro has been scouted or is of interest to us? I understand a work permit may be an issue, but surely you could claim on the "exceptional talent" ruling? Is anyone interested in him even if it's not Liverpool? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest.}

You have been playing football manager to much mate.

Football manager?

No, I am unemployed and watch a lot of football... Not all of us get our names from that tripe called Football manager.

Haha! He's great on Championship Manager lol

20 Jan 2013 06:20:02
Good Day Eds,

This morning on tv, there is an article stating newcastle have agreed an 8million deal for Mbiwa? Any truth?

Also, BR has bveen looking for a CB and Mbiwa at 8mil seems the deal of the season surely? Any chance BR could come in with a late bid?

Jamie {Ed002's Note - Putting aside the amount, Newcastle and Montpellier have agreed a price for the player. I don't see a bid from Liverpool.}

God! Every player who is said to be signing for another team is suddenly a super star and no doubt next up there'll be a post reading "We've missed out on Mbiwa another disaster for Liverpool!" We can't sign every player in every position who may be available both for cash reasons and I don't see a 200 player squad being on the cards.

The plank

20 Jan 2013 06:07:09
Hi Eds. Rodgers has spoken of bringing in players with the right experience in January tramsfer window. He compared RVP at Utd and how he has motivated Giggs and Scholes and says if the right player comes to us, surely Stevie G, Agger and Suraez will be motivated. The problem is we have only really been linked with Ince and how does that bring experience. Snjieder would mean experience but that won't happen so any other footballers you think rodgers will target? I'm a Red for life. YNWA {Ed002's Note - I suspect a player on loan remains an option.}

Fernando Torres on loan you heard it first

Seems to me, sturridge has done quite a bit toward motivating the mentioned players. Gerrard and Suarez in particular were magnificent.

20 Jan 2013 05:37:54
Eds not a rumour..but more of a question...as we have been linked with an 8 mil. bid for coutinho....i havnt seen him play..just want to knw if he is worth the money?
Shayan {Ed002's Note - I suspect at 8M euros he would be a very good buy.}

20 Jan 2013 04:34:29
Hi Eds,

Any interest in Mertens? don't understand why we go for young inexperienced player when we already have plenty. Is Mertens available Eds?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - I don't see Mertens moving to Liverpool in January. If he moves next summer I suspect it may well be to Bayern Munich, subject to the new manager wanting him, although there remains serious interest from Lazio.}

20 Jan 2013 03:01:33
Danny Rose whose on loan from Spurs to Sunderland is a definite target in the summer for LB. He knows BR is a fan of his and is holding out of contract negotiations with Sunderland and MON.

What I've seen of him he looks a good AVB doesn't look like he rates him he should be available for around the £5m mark but knowing us we will end up paying £20m lol

Hope not, he's overrated - Enrique is a decent LB honestly don't think we need cover as we know Johnson we'll play better there if Enriques injured, then most original left backs in the BPL -
Also gives Wisdom a chance at RB and he's not dissappointed any1.

Thats funny because AVB has said he's not going anywhere, Sunderland wanted the option of buying him permanently in the summer but AVB said NO.

I suspect we'll pay nothing for him and not sign him.

The Plank

20 Jan 2013 02:00:11
Hi ed's, great result today, I know its a touchy subject, but what do reckon of luis suarez to bayern munich transfer in the summer if we don't get into the top 4? Isn't peps brother suarez agent? And they are a club, who could afford the huge fee, and are one of europe's elite clubs. Really hope he stays to become a anfield great, but I, m a bit worried, as all the worlds best players want to play in the champions league. So come on redmen, let's go on long winning streak, and get back were we belong. Y..N..W..A
Dave h. L20 kopite {Ed002's Note - I suspect that Juventus still remain favourites, but an offer from Munich might be attractive to him.}

I think he will stay & I hope he stays.

If he wants a move than we should only accept offers of more than £50m, Torres went for £50m and Levy wants £50m for G.Bale and not being biased but Suarez is a better player than both of those two and also Suarez recently signed a new long term deal so the ball is strictly in our hands.

BigD

20 Jan 2013 09:48:58
Why are we talking about favourites to sign Suarez? He is with LFC. Why all this doubt he will leave us? It seem that a lot of LFC fans don't want to believe he is committed to the cause. He's got a Contract, he is settled, his family is happy in Liverpool. We will get top 4 in the next 2 seasons and have a good shout to win more cups. There is no point moving his whole family to Italy etc to get knocked out in the early stages of the CL. We are strengthening the team and getting better. Suarez knows this. Another 2 experienced players in the team and we are sorted.

Ant of Little Woolton

Remain favourites.. Ed could either of those clubs pay 60 million for a player {Ed002's Note - No, probably not.}

20 Jan 2013 01:24:15
hey eds

have we actually bid for coutinho

tom1975 {Ed002's Note - Yes Tom.}

Do you think he will arrive as apparently were upping the offer, although I know you have said that WP issues will be a problem ?

BigD {Ed002's Note - See previous answers please.}

20 Jan 2013 00:22:03
Can someone tell me who wants ince? Br or the club?
Sure the kid has a bit of pace and a step over but he is a million miles off what we should be looking at and although he has 'potential' so do 11 under 21's we have already on our books! Tom ince wasn't and never will be a top premiership footballer!!!! Someone please tell br!
Scott Sinclair was miles ahead of ince and look where he is, he wasn't good enough and I bet m city regret jumping the gun on him. Seems someone can have a few good games and a few good reviews and clubs just buy them....
What was wrong with guys proving themselves over a season or 2.
Eds sorry for essay again

Totally agree, Altho I am happy to take potential just not at 8 mill !
Daniellambretta

I wonder did we have a "first to refuse" embedded in the contract of Tom Ince when he left.. {Ed002's Note - No, there will be nothing like that.}

Man city bought Scott Sinclair to keep up with the Home grown quota.
Adam Johnson out Scott Sinclair in.It's a numbers game

Let me say first I don't really care whether we sign Tom Ince or not but if you claim that he'll NEVER be a top EPL player then you must have psychic powers.I haven't the tiime or the inclination to list them but there are masses of players over the years who were released by their clubs and moved around before maturing and going on to be quality players at other clubs.

The Plank

Ed, can you tell me why we are going back in for Tom ince, ? I just can't believe the club let him go and then want to buy him back for £6million or what ever the fee is, also do you really think he will come in to the 1st team and make a difference, I would love for some one if we were to buy any1 to come straight into the team and make a difference not another player for the future, {Ed002's Note - Clearly BR sees TI as a good addition to the squad.}

I cannot see why Ince would want to come back. Surely he can see that he would struggle for game time.

We didn't "let him go" he wouldn't sign a acontract as his dad wanted him to go out and earn more whilest playing regular football. it was actaully a good bit of business as he greased the wheels for the adam deal instead of seeing out his contract and leaving for nothing so either way all we would of got for him was a compo fee

The guardian sYing brendan rodgers is well aware he will need to sell key players to reinvest in squad eg reina in this example, eds sre liverpool really in a position they need to sell to buy? Funny how rodgers said a few weeks ago not much money left. Now werner was at game today and now we have money for right players seems strange is there a trust starting to develop because liverpool are not in a place to sell key players we need to build on what we have i'm sure brendan is aware of that I just hope owners arent saying different, these guys could afford sneijder for example they just don't want to. {Ed002's Note - No clubs can keep adding to the squad without moving folks on. There has been too much discussion over the financials already - but the club has to be fiscally responsible.}

Ed there's been more outgoing than incommings the squad can't get any thinner...

Hey eds

i seem to remember that liverpool made a deal with the uraguay side nacional that we could get first pick of their top oung palyers, or something along that line. Do you know of any players we have looked at that you could possibly see us signing in the summer.

Dorsetred {Ed002's Note - There is one player where there is interest that I am aware of - but I am fear that we will fall back in to abuse again if we try and discuss those South Americans that Liverpool have looked. As such, it is probably best to let it go.}

I really fail to see why there is abuse when you just tell us the information! Could eds please tell the real fans the player please? No worries if not! {Ed002's Note - Yet again there is abuse tonight so I have no intention of courting more.}

Ed002.....I think you have the wrong job. I respect your dedication but the above answer is simply pathetic.....you're treating your readers like school kids.

REDNOSE {Ed002's Note - So you deem it acceptable that I get streams of really foul abuse about myself and my family?}

Ed002, no it is completely unacceptable and immature. Its a sad world that we live in where such a thing happens. We get nothing but hard work from you and the other eds, I feel ashamed that fellow readers of this excellent site would stoop so low

.....More foul rubbish cut.........redphil

{Ed002's Note - Obviously you and others are pushing the abuse, so it does make sense to start cutting back on the posts now. It is entirely unacceptable and those hurt by it will be the genuine supporters who do have an interest in the transfers.}

I think we are all accepting Pepe will be going at some point, but who would take Cesar from QPR at the right price?

Maybe if he lost a few pounds

cozinoz

Why would you want Cesar from QPR who is on a 4 year deal failed 3 medicals when signing for QPR. Apart from the financial outlay he only average 20 odd games a season when at Inter Milan.

Please tell met that was said in jest
what a dumwitted idear

Pepe will be going no where for a few years. Where do these stories come from ?

Of course we all accept Pepe will be going at some point.All players leave eventually.This season NO and possibly not next season either.Cesar? No bloody chance.
