Llori on loan to Villa with a poss of a permanant deal, wtf the guy is a good player with great potential,do we know what were doing
01 Sep 2015 18:28:56
Hope it is ONLY a loan, get the lad some experience as Rodgers isn't going to change his ways any time soon. Potential there if only coached correctly.
01 Sep 2015 18:35:46
This is a redundant question as Brendan Rodgers is the luckiest manager in football. He is not good at man management with our youth players even though he inherited the greatest crop of youngsters that we have ever produced. How many of our squad have stepped up through our set up with the exception of Jon Flanagan and Jordon Ibe. He stated the we worked hard on our defence during the summer and had 3 dubious clean sheets before West Ham capitalised on our lack of leadership and positional sense at the back. Andre Wisdom & Tiago Ilori should be in our squad and Kolo Toure should have been released as well as selling either or both of Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren.
01 Sep 2015 18:46:28
Would have been far better for the player to get experience with us rather than play the 2 morons that currently play,fact is BR has not got a bleedin clue
01 Sep 2015 18:54:44
I should n't but nevermind eh :)Shame we can't loan out Bodgers with a guaranteed deal included !!
01 Sep 2015 19:10:24
Greatest crop of youngsters we have ever produced ??
The exception of Jordan Ibe and Jon Flanagan. Why? He played them?
He could of got rid of Raheem Sterling ? Didn't we just get 49 mil for him (I know it gets split up eds)
We had 3 clean sheets that were well earned.
1/ would you of been happy if he had of broken up that back four unit and we would of lost 3-0
2/ without using the words drop him, how would you stop lpvren making that mistake ?
3/ the third goal, all season Gomez has been blocking them sort of efforts and if you watch it closely enough it shouldn't of gone in but through sheer fortune Gomez was a split second off.
I am losing patience myself with br, and as many times I have argued and been blocked by the eds. His tactical acumen does seem to be none existent. His substitutions look clueless and I'm even beginning to believe he stumbled onto the 3-4-3.
I hope I am wrong but when your 2-0 down at half time and he doesn't bring ings on and then he actually packs the middle even more and puts 3 at the back.
But time will tell. I am glad we have a solid group of players
Someone and hopefully Brendan can get the most of them but don't take everything away from him fellas.
{Ed001's Note - we had one well earned clean sheet and two handed to us by terrible refereeing decisions mate.}
01 Sep 2015 19:22:43
I like a lot of lfc fans are bitterly disappointed that ilori never got a chance at lfc but in all fairness he looked 5th choice at best (might even have been 6th if you count gomez at a cb) I really hoped he might have got a chance in pre-season or some game time in cups & European competition but hasn't worked out. I do believe we needed to trim the squad a lot after our summer deals.
01 Sep 2015 19:24:27
With a bit of luck the LONE RANGER won't be in charge when he returns.
01 Sep 2015 20:03:26
Can't see the Ilori loan confirmed anywhere yet is it a done deal?
01 Sep 2015 20:14:54
2 goals disallowed which should have stood. We need our back room staff to tell Rodgers how to get the best from our defence as he's clueless. Bringing in a defensive minded coach on a short term contract could help as we did when Steve Clarke was in our back room staff.
01 Sep 2015 20:42:28
Greatest set of youngsters ever produced? hahahaha. Laughable.
01 Sep 2015 20:49:18
Free Speech: Substitutions may not always be what they look like. A lack of goal threat may be because the midfield is not winning the ball and getting it up there, or the backs not able to run forward in attack, due to lack of cover.
That being said, I also agree that I don't recall too many inspiring substitutions by BR that seems to change the way we go about things. Boy i dream of the days when Paisley put in Fairclough to shake things up :-)
01 Sep 2015 20:51:50
Confirmed on many sites now :-( this just makes no sense as others have put!
01 Sep 2015 21:39:44
I'm guessing when Rodgers promised him game time he forgot to mention it wouldn't be with us. The way he treats our players, especially the youngsters is an absolute disgrace. He needs to leave before he does irreparable damage to our club
01 Sep 2015 21:56:41
I'm not sure on the greatest crop ever,But certainly since about 1990. Depending how how you term produced. We haven't had this many youngsters truly knocking on the 1st teams door all at once in a very very long time if ever in my time. Ibe,Sterling(thought I'm happy to receive £35 million)Flanno,Kelly,Rossiter,Texiera,Suso(now at Milan),Yesil (hampered by injury),conno coady(now performing a wolves) Wisdom (consigned to loans and likely sold in the summer)Jerom sicnlair,looks likely to leave,but I personally think he would do well in the championship. We also have Sheyi ojo performing immensley atm,and harry wilson much is expected of.
A great many from the Liverpool youth teams over the past 3/5 years won't make it,but I have faith in a lot of these player and ex players making a long career,which is pretty much unheard of in British football
01 Sep 2015 22:36:59
I have been consistent on this. BR has no idea what he is doing and constant lies to players and guarantees them playing time but only on loan to other clubs. Wisdom hasn't played a game for us for three years neither has Ilori yet some say Ilori isn't good enuff. How they know he isn't good enuff without ever seeing him play in a
Liverpool shirt is beyond belief. Maybe these fans can tell the future or they are just talking nonsense. BR will be our downfall and I'm just happy that if he doesn't make it here as much I like him to because in the end it'll mean we are progressing, he will have nowhere to hide and no one to take the bullet for him.

I want to take a moment to defend rogers. This forum has become a real platform to attack him. This is at least in part down to him being unpopular with some of the editors, who often air their gripes against him on here. They even made a special word in "brendened." Used to describe him freezing players out of the team, I myself would've thought rodgered would've been better, but perhaps the joke would've been lost on our American friends.
Anyway back to football. I don't think his record is this fantastic, but he has still down better than the resources we have would expectantly commanded. We have finished 7,2,6, with the fifth highest wage bill. Let's not forget that, times have changed, we are the fifth most powerful team in the league in terms of investment and spending power. The league often reads like like the wage bill. This the Merdoch premiership era. Realistically then finishing 5th is about what is supposed to happen. He has at least achieved this on average (as a mean of his 3 seasons.) he has pragmatically evolved his systems to accommodate both the moving trends in football and the players he's had. Gerrard was never going to play a slow short passing game, he created a more direct faster game and found a way to charge at the title. He made Suarez, skyrtel, Henderson, Sterling, Sturridge and Coutinho all work in the same team fantastically. Some of whom liked to have been "Rodgered" only the summer before.
He now faces his ultimate test, this is his team. No more big characters who demand a football team play around them (the brilliant gerrard or woeful Ballotelli.) he has his guys and is using his direct yet slow and varied football to show what he can do, he deserves this chance and deserves our support! What are we as liverpool fans if we don't support him for at least this year, we can turn on him if finishing fifth, the realistic place of liverpool in the premiership these days. (See wage bill observations earlier for details,) seems unlikely.
{Ed001's Note - sorry but are you taking the mick? FInishing below where he should two out of 3 seasons is suddenly doing well? He has not done better, nor has he achieved it on average, no matter your strange choice to try and use the mean, which is irrelevant here.}

As Kit said earlier, a bit of perspective is needed here. The case against BR seems to be:
1. He is loaning promising players out who should be "given a chance" and is therefore clueless. Have a look at the number of players loaned out by Chelsea, City, Arsenal, Utd. Very similar. And their managers are all clueless too?
2. Players come in, are promised a run out, and are disappointed when they don't get a chance. Ummm, that doesn't happen at any other PL club, does it? No other top 6 team has to deal with too many quality players on the bench?
3. He isn't focused on getting a top-notch DM. That's not the way Liverpool play. Not when we came second, not now. Henderson, Milner, Can can all tackle and play forward. Get over it.
4. Transfers have been poor this summer. The fact is, no one knows four games in. But we're doing OK compared to most of our rivals and we seem to have more firepower than last season (Ballo and Lambert over Benteke and Ings, anyone?).
It's not perfect, I still think our defense is too brittle, but it's too early to write this season, or the manager, off.
I hope this gets posted - I've just put my hard hat on.
{Ed001's Note - 1. Those four clubs have a clear plan for what they intend to do with those players, usually 3 or 4 years in advance, Rodgers has no plan at all. It is a case of bumbling around each window trying to decide what to do with each player. Those four buy these promising players explaining to them they will spend X amount of years out on loan before their progress will be reviewed and a decision made on what to do with them next. We buy them and the manager promises them games, then sends them out on loan. It is hopeless man-management and it can not be compared with the others, with thte possible exception of Man Utd, who also have a hopeless man-manager in charge.
2. Other teams don't do that, the players being brought in are not getting those promises only to get none of them kept. When Jose Mourinho brings in a player, he explains how he seems them playing in his system and then gives them that role.
3. When we came second, Lucas played 27 times as a DM, so we did play with a DM in that season, no matter what nonsense you made up in your head.
4. Not going to argue here, I agree it is far too early to judge, though again we brought in players we didn't need, which is always a mistake when resources are tight.}
02 Sep 2015 07:46:50
Rodgers has finished below Spurs, who have the 6th most money, 2 out of 3 times. I suppose this means that AVB and Ponchettino are simply better than him.
02 Sep 2015 09:50:03
Rodgers said Lori was NOT going on loan again.
02 Sep 2015 11:03:53
Free_speech96185 - Sterling was not a product of our youth system, he was a product of QPRs.
02 Sep 2015 11:35:13
That's not his fault is it red Lenin. What we may aswel do by that logic is the only ones who get the credit for the players in the academy are the scouts (which is fair aswel they do the best work) but Brendan played sterling.
He could of said no and loaned him, same as ibe and flanno.
The eds say he was forced to use flanno through injuries but couldn't he of played hendo rb and jonno lb, we have seen how he does an awful lot of shoe horning players.
He does take the credit for playing them. I'm not talking develop or what not but he put them in the team, noone else.
02 Sep 2015 11:44:04
Gabriel Shankley, if you want to use stats in that way (Rodger's 'mean'), then you should be aware that he is probably our second worst manager since the early 1960's, with Dalglish's second reign being marginally worse and Souness being roughly as bad.
02 Sep 2015 14:48:05
'When mourinho brings in a player he explains how he sees them playing in his system and the gives them that role' are You taking the mick ed001? See Salah, Cuadrado, Debruyne, Philippe Luis to name but a few. You do make me laugh ed001 but I love you for it!
{Ed001's Note - are you trying to be funny? They had a role but didn't perform. It is not difficult to understand. I worry about idiots that laugh at nothing personally, so run along and don't waste my time until you have something worthwhile to say.}
02 Sep 2015 21:35:44
I think because we're so close to Liverpool we can access it so in depth and up to the minute and we only watch from the outside at other clubs.
Alot of what happens here is happening at other clubs.
Athletico spent near 100 mil last summer and didn't push on from the year previous like us and they also made some transfer mistakes like us madzukic (who is a good player but not suited to them) & Cerci (ed001 after you have had a go at me for this post can you tell me how he gets paid to play football) and they shipped them out this summer and then spent another 90 mil this summer like us and there not guaranteed to win the league altho they spent the most in la liga this summer but the expectations here considering city added and didn't lodr anyone big, spending near 150 mil, Chelsea 60 mil, Tottenham 40 mil and man u 80 mil and they didn't lose anyone big again. Us we lost Sterling who we will miss for his sheer pace.
I think we just need to chill and take a step back because we're all ruining are days stressing about issues we have no control about.
Cheers
02 Sep 2015 22:57:10
Sorry if I upset you ed you're a bit touchy these days. At the end of the day they are football players first and foremost. Whatever position they think is their strongest position if the manager disagrees they should play where they are told.
{Ed001's Note - touchy? No busy and don't appreciate idiotic comments at the busiest time of the year wasting my time.}
