Hi EDs,
Great site, THANKS for all the effort that you guys have put in. .
I just want to now IF BR has a change of heart can he recall AC back from west ham? Love the site. {Ed001's Note - no, Prem rules forbid a recall for any player that has had a loan fee paid for them.}

Just a quick post eds,thanks a million for all the work you guys put in over the season,all the stuff you guys put up is 1st rate,thanks again for a brilliant site,and to the rest of the trolls who come on here givin the eds grief,as we say in ireland f..k the begrudgers ! btw reds 2-0 win tomorrow,faithless is he who leaves when the road darkens ,cmon the pool !

We have an option to get carroll back in january, as soon as he went i knew it would be a mistake, rodgers and ayre will pay with their jobs. ayre later this month, rodgers in december (when it becomes clear we will not be anywhere near the top 6.)
the wise one

No Carroll has to stay for a season at west ham. And anyway why would Carroll want to come back and sit on the bench when he is playing week in week out at west ham

Conor Coady of Liverpool Fc reserves has been told he has to leave the club

Why wats happened .
Gaz b

A couple of days ago I'd have said rubbish as he's highly rated by the club but after the Carroll thing and buying no replacement for him I'll believe pretty much anything.

The Plank

More info please?

Papa G

Perhaps on loan. But he is too good a prospect to lose permanently.

He was in my mates house (his son and Conor grown up together) and was in good form, unless something has occurred today. Someone had him going to Ipswich 2 weeks ago and he didnt even know?

Ive never seen him play (for some reason there is no lfc reserves coverage in Australia) but he seems to be extremely highly rated. why would he be told to leave?

Has to be wrong......he was touted as a gerrard type player 12months ago.

He isnt that highly rated anymore, he hasnt improved at all this year.

WTF????

Has anyone told Ian Ayre he has to go too.

ash240970

Fools saying he's a good player clearly dont take time out of their day to watch the 21's or last years reserves and nextgen. The lad has only two things going for him the biggest being that he is scouse the second being his physique. No bottle and games pass him by rarely does anything positive of note and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he were asked to leave. Highly rated in his younger days yes but now he is playing catch up to players years younger than him. To prove my point watch LFC tv on Monday at 1/2pm we play man city I bet most of you won't bother though.

Aftab

U mean cady has been released,isn't coady is listed in 25 squad man for liverpool.

He accepts he was wrong, and the bouncers were right. Get over it, he was celebrating.

I can literally confirm that connor is staying at liverpool. He will be a liverpool for many a season to come.we have been told he is in the managers mind, not yet ready for the first team. End of.

Yeah and his replacement is you I suppose, grow up and get back to the tottenham page,
Trillsport

Absolute rubbish, Coady didn't miss a game last season so he couldn't have been that bad I think his time will come sooner the better

No he hasn't

Apparently where in for Owen and Drogba.

Drogba too expensive wage wise and Owen too expensive in doctor's bills so no chance.

The Plank

I'd love to see Owen back but I fear it's more about nostalgia than anything else. Drogba, on the other hand, has still got fire in his boots. Something certainly needs to be done or we could find ourselves struggling.

Drogba..Yes ! Owen , well he can, I mean NO !! Nearly19

Drogba would go someway to correct yesterday's debacle.

I can believe this after the fiasco in the transfer window. Bargain basement yanks!

I absolutely detest that drama queen Drogba, but a striker's a striker, and that's what we need, so fine by me. Either of them, if its for the good of LFC then it's gotta be a good thing.

You lot having a laugh you couldn't scrape £5 million fot dempsey you couldn't afford drogba's laces he'd want at least £200k A week. dream on.

If the club didn't value Dempsey at more than £5m then why would we pay more?

We got £450k a week off our wage bill during the transfer window - why couldn't we afford the £200k for Drogba?

Go troll elsewhere.

Are you mad. Michael Owen? The ultimate traitor?

I'd take Anelka over either

01 Sep 2012 20:00:07
eds what with all the owen talks am i right in saying that ryan babel is a free agent? much rather see babel back then the judis {Ed002's Note - He signed for Ajax.}

Babel is now at Ajax.

Ryan babel has moved to Ajax. Owen is still a possibility

Why not go the whole hog and get Emile Heskey back

01 Sep 2012 18:27:39
Ed's could Liverpool sign 1 of 3 strikers that are free agents Owen, Drogba, Anelka? {Ed001's Note - why? Owen is simply not good enough, Morgan is better, my nan would be better on her zimmer, and fitter. Drogba was on ridiculous wages, I very much doubt we could come up with a wage packet to tempt him to join us. Same with Anelka.}

But we wouldnt have to pay any transfer fees for him, just the high wages, better financial sense for me (paying weekly instead of one lump sum upfront) {Ed052's Note - What 14m of wages!}

It would be better for Drogba or Anelka to earn money playing for liverpool than not earn money by not playing.

Drogba has wanted to play with Gerrard for a long time and Anelka almost signed for liverpool.

Have to disagree about Owen there, he's still better than Morgan IMO.

Eds simple you sign drogs or anelka for 6 months only.. That way they can go to US or Dubai later not a big deal {Ed002's Note - It is not possible to do that. If they sign they have to have a contract that runs to June 30 or be signed on a monthly contract - and I very much doubt to owners would stump up a signing on fee given they could walk away after a month.}

1) Drogba left the PL because he won everything he could have with Chelsea and didn't want to play for another PL side.

2) FSG are cutting wages, they won't pay 200k plus for Drogba.

3) Drogba had a release clause in his contract in China if Real Madrid or Barcelona came in for him he would be allowed to talk to them. Real are favs to sign him and Juve/Milan are also linked

I would take drogba or anelka on a massive wage than pay owen to play 5-10 games all season,

imagine drogba suarez sahin gerrard allen

If Drogba wanted to play for us, at the top level of League football, then he'd need to take a pay cut percentage but he's still got the talent to lead the line, no question his physicality is freakish.

Chelsea can't win Cup finals without Drogba. :)

I'd have Owen on a pay as u play he no were the goal is and thats what we missing are we not?drogba I'd give 14 mill in wages to as he would get us champions league football again

I would love to see Ed's001 nan on the pitch. I'll be the first to buy a shirt.

Well said ed I don't want that Judas anyway near us.
EAM (loved the post about eds Nan: ) lol

Drogba? Really? Is this a joke?
Let me get this straight... After last nights disastrous transfer window, where we basically broadcast our financial woes to the watching world, you lot think we can afford to pay Drogba?

...ok?

And OWEN? Have any of you EVER been to a liverpool match? I can assure you that anyone who goes the match wouldn't have it. No way.

I can't believe the rubbish I read on this site of 'reds' sometimes (and I'd be amazed if this gets posted - but there you go)

Eddie

Drougba would be ok but all the other free agents a passed it. Sorry to say we are heading that way . We need a leader off the pitch a figure head fans trust .fsg fans are loosing conference in . Straighten the team steady the ship with proven players then add and develope youth. There's no short cuts fsg ! Trust me :( Jason kerry

I'd love Drogba

If Liverpool were prepared to pay 4million for Dempsey..put it along with what Carroll was getting paid and get one of these 2 preferably would take drogba. As for Owen he should not be entertained as he thought HE was better than the than LFC.... And then we won the the European cup lol. Dit dit de de de.

Amazed really that one of the "Eds " is so ignorant to the real football world - I'm 60 and better than Morgan ( well not quite, he is slighlty quicker ) - Michael Owen, even half fit is better at putting the ball in the back of the net than anyone we have at the club at the moment, that is until Saurez rediscovers his Ajax form.
Check Mikes stats - even with his injury record he still scores more goals than most - 19 in 57 games for the scum, and started only 11 games and don't think played 90 minutes more than 3 times.
30 in 79 games for Newcastle.
But you are right to be blinkered, what on earth would Liverpool want with a player that scores goals, we prefer people to miss completely or hit the post.
Especially one that scored 158 goals for us in 297 games.

John B {Ed063's Note - If Owen is as good as you say he is, then why does no premier league club want him? Because he is rubbish and spends all of his time on the medical table.}

When Owen left for Madrid I thought he was getting too big for his boots. He wanted to play in Europe. He wanted the Champions league. That year Liverpool made the Miracle in Istanbul and Owen was a peripheral player in a club who's fans didn't want him. I thought he went through enough humiliation. I'd've taken him back.
When he went to Newcastle I understand they paid too much and we couldn't compete with that. I'd've taken him back then too.
Then he went to Utd because he's a mercenary and I won't take him back.

The owners were involved in a meeting this morning via video conference that took place between Ayre and Rogers, they were not impressed..

Ayre tried to be clever and got it wrong, the funding for the Dempsey deal was there..

I believe Ayre is 99% out the door..

Cheers..

Davis93

And you know this how?

Don't dare just blame Ian Ayre, owners are just as much to blame as they wouldn't sanction the deal. They all need to go.

Just read somewhere that Drogba & Anelka have been released due to Shanghai going bankrupt. Don't know how reliable it is, but tell your source to start a kickstarter campaign to get one of these boys into Anfield. I'd be feeling much more comfortable with our attack if it included Drogba/Anelka & Owen as back up!

SHOTGUN! The Kop.

I'd love this to be true, but if such a meeting did take place, the only people there would have been FSG, Ayre and Rodgers, and none of them have told you this, so unfortunately, it's bull.

Ian Ayer, pack ya bags ya clown.. I believe the money was there.. It was Ian Ayer trying to get a cheap deal for brownie points with the owners.. Egg on his face now!

Paddock boy

Well FSG have got rid of everyone on the staff who made a mistake or did not live up to their demands.

Its a pity Ayre, John Henry & Co anst all go and tahe their puppet BR withem

Stop blaming ayres its not his fault parry left his 10 easy steps to transfer dealings guide in the office.Blame the cleaner it should have been binned ages ago

Complete bull, and we're all getting sick of the predictable turning against FSG and even Rodgers from some. You're not welcome as fans.

I wish people would stop blaming BR I wasn't to happy about his appointment but I think so far his done a great job,It is great to see Liverpool play nice attacking football again (even if they struggle up front ) and his PR has being great.So please blame the ones who fault it is FSG. Buy the players he needs or get out.
Eam

There's is no point in dwelling we must ALL move on and stay positive, this team can definitley achieve.

The same team played and held their own against the current champs last week...have faith people..we have Buck steering the ship...ynwa

Agree above, held man city, with almost the same team as last season, weakened by the presence of Borini, and without a real attacking threat. Goals from setpieces, a good LFC tradition. Nowt to do with Brendan. How the other post above could say you are pleased with the 'nice attacking football...' what drugs are you on. Did you see West Brom, Hearts. And as mentioned the goals in City game were from set piece play. Wake up. Nowt has changed since last season - a striker is still a requirement, to win games. Looking good and drawing games won't win trophies.

Oh hang on winning by managing existing resources is out of favour. So we need to replace the system to win again. What kind of poker game is this. The club just got into a winning stride finally with silverware last season and a Europa entry. Not even fourth place guarantees Champ League any more. So finishing 4th or 8th had exactly the same outcome.
Does anyone think BRs £28m of spend will get any silverware or cup finals this season? unless he thinks he can do top three finish there is no guarantee of CL either. There are five maybe six very well financed clubs ahead of us with proven managers, with pedigree, not just a coach. None of those teams are short of strikers.. Not even Arsenal.

Who would swap Allen and Borini for Van Persie... He would have been within the LFC budget already spent on unproven players. But could BR have attracted him...maybe not.

Europa league level may be the only realistic target. None of the teams ahead of us have naivety/timidity in the transfer market as part of their strategy. So let's not bother to dream of being CL winners again. Watch nice chicken tikka taka football it will be cheaper and nice on the eye. Less of those great diagonal long halls from SG onto the head of the centre forward. Oops there isn't one.

And, look at Arsenal, they are content to participate at CL group with no delusions, and keep hold of their respected manager, however much of a pain he is listen to. niether breaking the bank or winning trophies. But playing passing football. Must be the way to go, surely. Who wants to go back to the days of the old style which won CL and got first cup success in years. Certainly not me. Brendan knows how to win trophies. He watched Mourino do it for long enough. So something must have rubbed off. Though the special one always backed his players in public. Note to BR. Don't trash players in public, they may need to come back off loan next season. You know who I mean!

Well nice to see that all supporters are giving BR their full backing after 6 competitive games (sarcasm). I can not believe so called fans are already turning on him because we had a bad day against West Brom and 2 mistakes cost us the points against City, who we dominated for large periods. I am as disappointed as anyone that we got nobody in on deadline day, but turning on the manager is not the way to go. BR has a long term project in mind and it will take time for the squad to get used to his style of play, the whole club is in a period of transition, the owners are trying to modernise us behind the scenes in all aspects of how a modern sports club should be run. When they took over we were 20 years behind the likes of Utd in terms of the off field and behind the scenes aspects (read 44 months with a pair of cowboys, for more detail). It will take time but I believe that both FSG and BR will turn out to be very good for our great club, perhaps actually make us great again in terms of on field success as lets not delude ourselves we have been in decline for years with only a few highlights (2005). They need to steady the ship and then build for the future, I for one am excited to see what BR can do, I believe our defense is strong they just need time to adjust, our midfield of Allen Gerrard and Sahin is as good as anyones, and Suarez, Borini and Sterling pose problems for any defense. Lets forget the disappointment of deadline day and get back to doing what we are famous for, supporting our team.

Popa Lazarou

We are were we are there's no more big names for Liverpool get over it,FSG are here to make money. I never said we were the new real Madrid ,I did see some nice one touch football in the heart s game and the man city game, but yes we were poor up front. nothing will change this season or next as long as Fgs are here that's it get used to it.My point was BR was not at fault, his doing OK imo with what he has.
Eam

Agree with Popa Lazarou

Forget Spending Guys.

I dislike ayre immensely. i have no time for also ran rodgers. but infinitely worse are those damned yanks.

twenty five million in wage cuts for this year alone- source a website today.

obscene asset stripping

this is killing our club... again!

Serious question Eds. Any idea if money will be available in January or Summer without sales? Or are we entirely relying on Champions league money? {Ed002's Note - The owners have continued to provide financial support - as I explained previous, "within reason". There comes a point where most of the funding would need to come from players being sold. It is too early to say what will happen next year with confidence.}

What reason? We offload a hell of a lot of players. Make a couple of decent signings and that's ok? They said they want return Liverpool to the top and if they can sanction a 5 odd mil deal for Dempsey etc they need to go!

Have posted ALL WEEK FSG have NEVER invested in the playing squad. There is no money in Jan from FSG, only the Adam cash which was unspent and any more from sales in Jan.

If we do sign Owen or anyother unwanted freebie Adam cash will go on wages and signing fee.

FSG have never opened their wallets for players. FACT

If they've never opened their wallets for players how do you explain expenditure on players being higher than the sales? Also, are you ungrateful for them buying a debt ridden club and taking a hit on the £50m losses last year because of the stadium that never happened costs thanks to those two bags!

FSG are going to make LFC a self sustaining club free from debt. We could hope for an Arab to come along and throw their cash at players but personally, I want to support a football team - not a rich man's toy!

Put yourself in FSGs shoes. They buy a club in debt. Reinvest sales from Torres & babel plus some more cash to buy players to take the club forward. FSG gave Comolli and Dalglish the responsibility of buying these players only for them to pay ~£40m over their value for Suarez, Carroll, Henderson, Downing, Adam and Enrique. To them, those b*st*rds threw £40m of THEIR money down the drain. No wonder they're going to be cautious going forward.

? Google the Warrior kit deal, the Standard Charter sponsership - both record deals ! Prize money for winning Cup, reaching cup final and finishing 8th (millions !) Sky TV money, being one of the top five clubs for global merchandise sales. Then you can add sales Torres + Babbel were £60mil. Do the maths people. Standard Charter deal is £100mil over 5 yrs = £20mil a season, Sky TV money, FSG have not spent a penny !! Work it out {Ed002's Note - You are completely wrong.}

That doesn't matter. LFC made a loss so whatever sponsorship, Sky money etc you can google, FSG have had to cover £50m loss in addition to all the debt they bought almost 2 years ago. For that, I am thankful. Perhaps you'd have preferred it if we'd started again in League 2 like Rangers had to start at in the lowest league in Scotland?

LOL doesn't matter ? Why? add this up. look at the statements from wonderful FSG about money no problem, can compete with anyone, invest in up coming youth. Yet BR had to still sell after offing Bellers, Maxi, Kuyt, Aqua, Adam, Spearing, Carroll.
Look at the Sky money, the sponsership, the US tour cash.
LFC still have a large loan FSG haven't moved anything different to H&G. 2yrs on, stadium still fob off, transfer kitty less and less we're now a selling club and having to rely on youth team yet FSG expect top 4 and CL football.

Name one thing FSG have said that has actually happened, other than the club being run own income? Even that is a bit of a lie as LFC make one of the top 5 incomes for a club. Much more than Spurs, who spend more.

Ed how much money has FENWAY put on the table, so far the money has come directly out of the club. Every-single signing in and out has been a sell to buy.

The only problem has been the people buying don't know who to purchase for a future value. We seem to be degrading the value of the team, not increasing.

The only way to improve things would be to purchase two great players. Something the owners would never do.

So do you know what they have put in, apart from paying off RBS. {Ed002's Note - The club has made a loss of around £50M for the past two seasons, so that is £100M they have paid. They have paid an additional £28M or so (Net) this summer in the transfer market - so a lot.}

ED002, how am I wrong? Google it TV money via sky and overseas deals £54mil. Torres £50mil, Babel £8mil. Standard C £20 per season, 5 yr £100 mil deal, Google this. LFC are rate in the top 5 (global) for merchandise sales, Warrior kit deal is expect to generate £300 mil over six year period, this includes a guarented £25mil per season. Our kit, not sales of kits in sports kit, our sponsership brings £45nil alone, add Sky + TV £54, add Premier placing, 2 cup finals. Are you thick or blind? {Ed002's Note - You know nothing and personify the reason that nobody should share details of the finances with football fans. it Look at the accounts. The losses for the first full year of trading are £50M. The losses for the year finished in June will be similar. For this summer they are £28M down. You simply do not understand what it costs to run the club.}

01 Sep 2012 16:16:27
Ed 002 is back! YYYYEEESSSS!! So your told a lot is expected of Yesil. Is he expected to have an immediate impact on the first team. Thrown in at the deep end like Owen & Fowler. Or is that expecting too much. Keep our feet on the ground ed!
Ps. BIG SHOUT OUT to all the eds & Macca. SLODGE {Ed002's Note - I am not so sure about the "deep end" but he is one of the European youngsters that much is expected of.}

Does anyone know about the clause in his contract where Leverkusen can re-sign him for the same price we paid if certain conditions are/ are not met. I Read Rudi Voller said something of the sort yesterday?

He might be needed sooner rather than later due to our lack of strikers. But if no injury occurs i think our squad can handle the games.

Kaizer

European youngsters at Liverpool or in genera?

With no alternative to Suarez, he'll be needed & mostly blown out of the water

YANKS OUT

Ed002 i think you may have a stalker.

JR

Hi ed. did Llrorente make a move. Cheers Murray {Ed002's Note - No, agreement with Juventus could not be reached.}

Would he move in January? {Ed002's Note - Possibly, but much will depend on the contract situation.}

No he's still at Bilbao

Gillon Mclaughlin (AFL) touted as Ian Ayre's replacement. rumoured

Where did you get this?

I find this rumour very hard to believe. He is no 2 at the AFL and earmarked to take over from Demetriou. Plus the NRL are aggressively chasing him and seem to have an open cheque book. Why manage a club when you can be in charge of the whole completion?

Oh i see is ian Ayre the fall guy for this is he what a joke FSG are.

Came from channel 7 in aus. main broadcaster of AFL - bit far fetched to be made up...

red snake

I have a friend in channel 7 in Australia, I might see what he can find out!!

Lol NRL are offering him AUD1m to run the competition not exactly hard for Liverpool to beat and I've seen no news in Australia! Liverpool would be richer than the whole NRL competition its a different kettle of fish anyone that thinks otherwise is a small minded aussie. And yes I'm Australian!

He rejected the job during the summer, he doesn't want to move to England because of his young family.

But 1 thing for sure we need someone to replace Ian Ayre who isn't the right man to handle transfers.

I think you're over estimating LFC's financial clout right now...they couldn't even find 1 million to get Dempsey!

While the AFL is very well run and Australia had good sports administrators, I still don't think any EPL club or FSG would look outside Europe or US to replace Ian Ayre.

AussieLFC

It would help if you could come even close to spelling it correctly, its Gillon McLachlan
And this is old news, he was offered the job over the summer and turned it down.

01 Sep 2012 17:23:22
Gillon McLachlan has already turned the job down once. He has a young family and is settled in Melbourne.

He also has been asked to be the head of the NRL and is deputy and will be certain to be head of the AFL which he would much rather.

Can FSG go with him too?

Sort of damage control i think...to show fans that they (owners) mean business.
holy_red.

Reds Skint, Useless Senior managment, Owners who are liars
A team manager who is either one of the above
AC will be replaced OK WHEN!

Ok let's put this one to bed.

Hamish McLachlan - his brother who is an AFL commentator - said Dillon is not going to LFC. Done and dusted.

AussieLFC

It is was in sunday morning paper in AUS that he rejected Liverpool offer. But as usual where there is smoke there is fire

Liverpool hunt new Managerial Director after disastrous deadline day
Club owners Fenway Sports Group are furious over the collapse of Clint Dempsey's proposed move to Anfield, deeming Ian Ayre responsible for the move falling through - Source -

DAni

I hope Ayre isn't just a scapegoat for FSG's tight fisted attitude. If he did mess it up, then yes, sack him, but unless FSG seriously invest in January, we are doomed to failure for another season at least.

The club should have learned from its own history that its a mistake to have finance/administrator people runnin a football club,.surely parry purslow and now ayres tenure should have taught them that you need a person who knows footaball running a football club.ayres should have stuck to what hes good at and continued his good work on the commercial side,he had no business movin up to md

Andy carroll dominated fulham's defence helped set up 2 goals west ham win 3-0 are we lemon's or what ???

totally shocked & disgusted with our lack of bringing in a striker if FSG trusted roger's enough to give him the job then trust him enough to spend some money to bring in quality striker .

We should employ a consultant every transfer window to get targets. Pay him commission on below budget deals. Sorted.

The person talking about Ayre being a scapegoat must be Ian Ayre! Ayre is a mug and so is Tom Werner for making promises he did not insist on being maintained!

Total rubbish by FSG...

Ayre is not going to negotiate transfers based on his own preferences or set guidelines...he does not decide the limit we can bid or wages we offer...FSG have final say...

FSG trying to save face but they have been terribly exposed

Some rich multi billionaire please save us from these owners the suck

Yes, let's protest every ownership group. Surely that will convince new owners to come here. I noticed the person talkin about Carroll's performance today left out the part where he got injured in the second half. I get that this isn't ideal and how massively disappointing it is but come on. Day one defeat to West Brom--sack the manager. Deadline day disappointment--sack the owners. If we had waited to do all our business on deadline day like spurs do and got Sahin, Assaidi, Allen and Borini yesterday you lot would say these are the best owners ever. if failing to get Dempsey means we need new owners then the corollary is that acquiring Dempsey would have made FSG the best owners around. Absolutely not. Some of you need to temper your opinions a bit.

Can i say one thing before everyone starts jumping on fsg back if it wasent for them we might not have aclub.

The owners, John Henry, Tom Werner, Ian Ayre & Brendon Rogers
These guys are either Liars, Inept or useless
We had a awful transfer window, countless good players out
Bellamy, Kyte, Maxi, Sold or loaned Carroll Spearing Adams etc, released some decent kids
What do we get in NOTHING

ANSWERS PLEASE John Henry the Buck stops with you, if you dare

Hey im not happy wiv how yeterday panned out , but rubbish happens, we got to move on, calling for sackings here there and everywhere wont help. BR has a rebuilding job to do, and you lot want it done after 3 games, get real.

As for players we 'got rid of' be sensible.
Bellamy 'wanted to go Cardiff'
Maxi 'wanted to go home'
Kuyte put 150 % in as did Jay, and Adams on occasion but even though i am big fan of them, we didnt get much return in way of goals assists etc. for all their running about.
Carroll I agree should have had concrete replacement b4 selling, though if we kept him, hed be out with a Hamstring now.

By all means moan and be p**d off like me but get it into perspective guys. {Ed001's Note - Bellamy went because he wasn't going to play, not because he wanted to go home. If he had expected to play regularly, he would have stayed.}

Ed001 fair point mate, I'll take that back re Bellamy, but on a while my point was, fans over reacting, exaggerating things to prove a point and really dont need all the Yanks Out crap again.
We did buy 5 players and have good kids chomping at the bit to come in. So people need to calm down and move on.

Thanks Eds

Hey..

Recently gained a fairly good source..

Correctly posted about us going back in for Sturridge yesterday..

It is my understanding Rogers is keen on bringing Owen in..

Before everyone starts slagging Owen off if he says fit he will score goals..

Thank you..

Davis93

Who's slagging Owen off, he's a professional footballer who doesn't need fans' permission of where to ply his trade

To be honest, I wouldn't die of surprise if it happened.

But here's the thing. Owen would be coming in as backup to Suarez and Borini, in case one of them gets injured or something.

I can easily see a situation where, we play Owen in the League Cup for match fitness instead of giving Morgan game time, and then when Suarez bites someone and we do need Owen for a serious match, he gets injured in training anyway. He'll be here as a backup player incase we have injuries to Borini and Suarez, and since he's injury prone himself, he's not dependable in that role.

Even if we let what did and didn't happen with regards to his previous career choices be water under the bridge, it still strikes me as a potentially pointless move.

Yes IF he is fit! Plus with the cock up of yesterday we have no option but to try and bring him in

To be brutally honest... I couldn't give a toss if Owen played for us in a manc shirt. He will score goals given the opportunity and he is light years ahead of Morgan, who to be honest isn't even in the same league as what Neil Mellor was.

If owen can score goals, then please tell me why hes a free agent that nobody wants

Eds do you know of any real interest from us in owen? {Ed052's Note - no}

Eds do you know of any real interest from us in owen? ps the guy slagging off morgan is quite clearly a tool

He is finished he's always injured

He screwed us when he left for Madrid. He was worth more than we got for him cause he held us to ransom over his contract like mcmanaman did

He should never be aloud back inside anfield

Listen mate.... If Morgan makes it as a striker at Liverpool I'll text you my address. Then you can come see me and I'll pay your mortgage off for you as well as treat you and your family to a holiday of a lifetime. Just being honest mate.. Look at how good Owen and Fowler were at his age and they didn't have the luxury of having the training facilities and coaching quality that is on offer to Morgan.

At this moment in time can we really afford to be fussy? Kuyt, Bellamy and Carroll have all left. We have Borini, Suarez and an i experienced Morgan to rely on. One of them gets injured we really are f****d. Even havin Owen back would be better than having nobody at all. Also it could be worse, we could be linked with Heskey *shudders*

Aaron

My understanding is Rogers is really keen..

I also believe he thinks Morgan will play a bigger part this season..

FYI Ayre 100% going but everyone knows that already..

Cheers..

Davis93

I always had the impression Liverpool fans were clued up on football matters ? We have spent the last 3 months shedding the wage bill for players not good enough & not fit enough to play ? And there are still fans out there who think Owen is worth the wages ? Where have you been watching football the last 4 or 5 years ?

Owen is simply not good enough anymore, if he still had it he would have been snapped up already, and if truth be told we ruined him in the early stages of his career by overplaying him when he had obvious hamstring problems pending. If we can get rid of Ayre and someone new in who can quickly repair the damage and build bridges maybe we can sign a few in January who knows but for now we have to see what can be done with what we have got. We bought the young german striker who is full of promise and in my opinion if he's good enough he's old enough.

Brownie YNWA

What? You mean Owen is actively playing football for the past 4 or 5 years?

It might seem a daft comment, but with the dissapointment of Liverpool not signing anyone yesterday, even though Rodgers indicated that maybe at least 1 would be made, I am expecting Rodgers to make an approach for Michael Owen, even if its just to add a bit more depth to the forwards. Athough he went to the hated, I would still have him back for a short term solution.... If he's fit, he can score goals, and we need goal scorers. Its that simple

Adam Morgan is a natural finisher, he's got fantastic positional awareness, hes only going to get better and better and has Liverpool in his heart fact, so yeah I'd love to take you up on that offer thank you :)

Considering Ian Ayre making everyone (FSG included) look like mugs, Owen would be an obvious short term answer. It's not like we're spoiled for choice now. AC might have done well today before injury, but if we played big sam's way for a season there would be open warefare at Anfield. AC will do well there, Luis Suarez wouldn't get a game under Allardyce. WH are Stoke mk11

Flagg

Nobody is saying Michael Owen is ideal, but let's be honest, we're hardly in the best position to be fussy! We're desperate for another striker, and I'd put more money on Owen putting a simple chance away than any of the other strikers we have. I say get him in until January! How could it hurt?

The guy is 32/33. He has scored an average of 1 goal in every 5 league games he has played in the past 3 seasons.

He will not score goals for us.

Thos saying Michael Owen will score goals...In his prim at anfield he never hit 20 a season he's not going to now. he will make all of about 10 games given his injury troubles. He scored goals mainly becaus eof his pace...that went about 7 years ago. 5 goals for Man U in 31 games...not prolific

Hello Eds,
Reckon Leandro Damiao could be an option in Jan market ?
Just seen BenSmith BBC timeline he reckons the owners would have given quite some extra money for a young player with sell on but they weren't prepared to bid more than 4 million for Dempsey.
Him along with Walcott (if he doesn't sign extension with Arsenal) would help us forget this Dreadful Deadline Day. {Ed001's Note - impossible to say right now, though I doubt it, I think we are going to struggle to sign anyone in January as things stand. We have created a mess with our dealings this summer, that needs to be sorted or people are just not going to want to deal with us at all.}

Find myself strangely agreeing with Ed001

I have read a number of times that Fulham wanted us to pay a lot more than Spurs for Dempsey if that was the problem you can see why the board wouldn't offer more but on the other hand you can see why when FSG posted about signing him at start of window that wound Fulham up.

Well said Ed001...I couldn't agree more. The notion that we are a sensible option anymore has been damaged. Very naive by our American owners.

It is a fallacy that Fulham wanted more - I hear we were not willing to extend beyond £3m up front with £2.5m in add-ons, which is £2m less than both other bids. Crap negotiations by Ayre and badly sanctioned by Werner and others in the FSG heirarchy. Sorry John Henry but you need to decide whether you want to be involved with LFC properly and then you need to bring YOUR individual magic to our beloved club.

Agree with Ed1 about the mess. I just pray that come Jan. we are in a position to attract a Goalscorer.

If Damiao is smart he won't join us as we are in a horrible mess...

the only good thing about yesterday is that our club's problems were exposed to its fans and that now we know things are not so rosy...

Not really.

A player with the capability should see the chaos as a chance to create a legend for himself.

Jan to far away sadly. and sadly we could be sitting in the same position as last season, depending on injurys and form. the owners need to share the blame with the clueless ayre. just total amatuars when it comes to soccer !

Suarez was bought in january. Our scouts need to work harder and find a similar gem. Plenty of players out there, not just the obvious names.

Ed001, are you talking solely about the Fulham issue or have we been rubbing other clubs up the wrong way, can you please explain your comment? That's worrying to hear! {Ed001's Note - the Fulham issue is huge though, not just the tapping up but also the reporting it on the website and then messing them about in negotiations afterwards. At least last summer, following the big mess in the previous January, we patched up relations with Blackpool and we have a place we can send promising youngsters to get first team football and the right kind of football too. With Fulham, we currently have a very bitter owner and club. It doesn't help that it was so public and every other club in the country saw it and are not going to be keen on dealing with us.}

OWNERS ASSET STRIPPING THE CLUB
No decent players coming under FSG tennure

Ed001 is the situation really that bad in terms of no clubs wanting to deal with us? We managed to sign other players easily enough during the window, Sahin, Allen, Yesil etc. Though we are unlikley to be signing anyone from Fulham soon thats for sure!

Andy Npton Red {Ed001's Note - I was exaggerating slightly to make the point, but you can get yourself a reputation, which can be difficult to shake. Then clubs will look to deal elsewhere, rather than with you.}

Managed to sign players easily enough in summer? Have you been asleep. BR BREACHED an agreement not to touch Swansea players for a period of time. Following his behaviour re Dempsey and most of all with Carroll, everyone can see how good his judgement and where his professional standards are. He is not a manager. Coach yes, but if he is a manager does he not take responsibility for the transfers too? Otherwise, to be consistent, KD had no responsibility for the transfers happening and price paid under his watch. It must have been Comioli and Ayre all along..

i live opposite the melwood entrance and i swear av just seen owen driving in in a bmw X6 he stopped and signed few tops for the kids i asked a kid outside and he told me he wes here to sign on a 2yr deal

johny89

Ur a nobody who needs to get a life

Everyone knows Owen doesn't use cars, it's horses and helicopters - nice try.

Right so Owen has been tight lipped all week about his plans but a kid breaks him down, did he steal the haribos !

And your obviously the only person on the planet who doesn't have a phone with a camera on to prove it...

How would the kid know he's there to sign two year deal? Owen wouldn't get that long either. Maybe a rolling contract, pay as you play deal.

I can confirm that Owen does not own a x6.

Oh yeah a bunch of kids are always the most reliable source of information.

Ed002, nice to have you back! how was the Trip?
You haven't missed much really, a couple of players out Adam left, but I never really unstood that signing? I think he was meant to cover gerrard through that bad injury run myself.
Spearing gone out on loan, he should have taken a permenant deal, might love the club but like me, but like me not good enough I'm affraid.
We signed a very promising young German lad who could do well for us, and big andy out on loan as expected (shame I like Andy).
So that's about it I think you should be up to date now.
So 4 new very good signings in, a couple allready looked good against the champions, and we have moved out some of the older and less used squad members have been moved on.
Oh some people seem a bit down this morning Ed, not sure why? we were great overall against the mega rich Champions and there going to get better as they get use to the system, confident well beat the gunners this weekend and then were off.
Anyway glad to see you back.
RNred {Ed002's Note - Thank you. The trip was fine and thanks for the update. I am told that much is expected of Yesil.}

Spot on. Let's focus on the positives. We have moved forward and she'd some deadwood on the way. Let's see what our new youngsters can achieve!

How do you rekcon the transfer window eds and reds?
Yes it was a huge mistak but we will have to do with 4 strikers now do you think we will go for Damiao in the winter?

Aneesh {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath over Damiao Aneesh.}

Four strikers? Am I missing something? I only count one, Luis. Morgan still plays for the Under 21's and I am sure he will come good in a few years, Borini couldn't strike a light and who is the fourth? {Ed052's Note - Well, really, strikers are not who need to be counted. Players who can play in the front 3 are the ones who should be counted as they all rotate anyway. You have got about 7 who can play in those top 3 spots]

1.)Suarez
2.)Borini
3.)Morgan(I know he plays for under 21 but we may have to you know place him in first squad in the season)
4.)Samed yesi(isnt he a striker?)
Do you know now the 4 strikers we have red?

Aneesh

Eds can you please name the seven? {Ed052's Note - Assaidi, Borini, STerling, Suarez, Downing, Morgan, Gerrard, Sahin, Henderon, Shelvey, Suso. Want any more?}

Well are they all strikers arnt they midfielders?

01 Sep 2012 09:56:15
ed002 have you heared anything why we didnt sign anyone? was it fsg not wanting to spend or ian ayre inabillity to do a deal!

thanks {Ed002's Note - I was on a plane for most of yesterday but an expected deal for Dempsey failed to materialise (regardless of the reason why). A couple of days ago Sturridge's agent spoke to Chelsea about whether the club would be interested in loaning the player to Liverpool and it was made clear that there was no interest in doing that. And that's about it as far as I know.}

Fulham would not sell to LFC unless 10M was met. Sack Ayre!!

01 Sep 2012 08:13:51
Ed do you think we may end up signing damiao in january now? after all the brazilian league ends then anyway {Ed002's Note - I expect him to move in January but not to Liverpool.}

THen where to ? {Ed002's Note - There will be several options.}

Don't dare say to Spurs or Chelsea Ed or I would be even more pissed off. {Ed002's Note - Both clubs are looking for strikers.}

We weren't able to agree terms with him because of his huge wage demands (apparently), how can Spurs sign him?

Sj

01 Sep 2012 00:17:30
eds can u answer why the damio deal fell through,if there was any truth in him bein offered to us,cheers {Ed002's Note - There was no chance of it happening. None.}

Could anyone explain the details from yesterday behind this? I understand he was offered to us early on Friday, on a $5m loan fee, with an option to buy at $15m. We entered negotiations, and straight away the wage demands (over 100k a week) were too demanding, and agents/3rd party ownership issues were trying to basically get a lot of money from us, taking us for a ride in the hope we panic and pay way over the odds again (I assume).

Was this just dirty agents, player and club looking to make a lot of money off us from a last minute deal, or were they just 'testing' the market and used us as bait, hoping another club would panic and offer $30m or something. It just seemed to good to be true, that a young Brazilian international striker was offered to us in a cut-price deal for no reason. Makes no sense, could he now be targeted for January when the Brazilian season finishes - to make up for yesterday's disaster? Does the player even seriously know who LFC are? Was this ever serious? A baffled Red.

Brendan Rodgers is fuming with Ayre and FSG cronies after today's transfer fiasco. He was assured that two players would have been signed today prior to Carroll's loan spell!

He looked very smug in his interview, as if he had something up his sleeve. Think he possibly could have been stronger and insisted we buy.

If THAT were truly the case he could recall AC from the loan couldn't he?

Not suprised.. I'm gutted as I thought we would of added at least 2 players..We are an 8th to 12 place team with this squad.. Stevie G cannot carry us all the way any more..
Great work Ed's.. really appreciate all the work you put into it.. YNWA

I was reading this site praying we will get top players. We go t a top coach but not the player execpt Allen. Liverpool is down as even THE MIGHTY QPR signed 9 quality players. WTF FSG doing. Playing cowboys with the great club Liverpool. God bless Brendan as he might pulling his hair out hoping no one is injured or do a suarez(9 games ban)

How about Arshavin? he would fit into the system well,even as cover.Plus hes younger than Gerrard

I am fuming as i am sure most fellow reds are. what are we doing letting carroll,adam,kuyt etc etc etc leave and know one in? we are really short in numbers upfront and if suarez gets injured we have 18yo morgan?? need a solution but we aint gonna get one. very very dissapointed

Sorry to sound negative but that's the vibes I get from this great club these days,the board have no ambition and although it hurts to say this we will not finish in top ten let alone top four.Tata to champions league for a few years

Liverpool made to look like complete fools in this transfer window , they are a complete shambles. Why would you let a £35 million striker go out on loan , with no replacement lined up ??

Especially when he came out publically and said he would be insane to let Carroll out on loan with a replacement

I think he learnt 2 harsh lessons today
- do not talk negatively about your own players and say they are not in your plans as other clubs will take the Mick with their offers
- Ian Ayer is useless and fsg want the arsenal model in place (they should have just signed wanted)

Leam Red

I wouldn't blame Brendon for feeling p***ed. Felt sick last night when we realised nothing was going to happen. This situation may give chances to the likes of Morgan, but I thought FSG said if there was a player was available that would improve squad there would be money. Trying to finish above Everton will be the sum of our ambitions this season folks.

I feel gutted for Brendan, he has been badly let down by the owners and the club has been made to look very small time.
I have always backed them in the past but find it hard to understand how they can treat the manager like that when he has knocked 450K a week off the wage bill.
I can understand being careful with money but this was downright mean.
CR
We need an oil rich Arab or a Russian oligarch,

Ayre is not FSG. He is probably as frustrated as Rodgers. FSG own the vehicle, Ayre is the driver.

Why not get Babel an Owen in on fre transfers

Its obvious the owners have totally shafted Rogers...the objective from the very start of the Deadline activity was to slash the wages bill. Getting Carroll and Adam out was the real priorty, signing players was secondary. I heard they spent hours frantically trying to offload Joe Cole but nobody wanted him. The bid for Dempsey was an insult at just £3m. Not to pay £6m for a proven goalscorer at the top level when the team really need one is really bad considering the money they have thrown at other players in the recent past . Again, bringing in Demspey would have eliminated the wages saving made on Adam. The bid was made to appease Rogers but they knew it would never be accepted. The team will struggle for goals this season.

How do you know?

Heard exactly the same. Ayre promised it would be sorted way before the deadline (i.e. Friday morning!).

Makes you wonder why Rafa was never offered the job, he would have blown the whistle on these yanks!

The owners have the smalltime manager they want, a yes man, rodgers is clueless

Wat a silly silly comment that br could have been stronger and insist we buy. do u honestly think that he was insisting as much as possibile and stressing how important it was we got bodies in the door but at the end of the day if the owners ar refusing to budge wat do think he should do to be STRONGER id love for u to tell me. very naive comment. i worked wit br some yrs back and hes one of the strongest characters ul ever come across.

How do you know this. Have you spoke to Rogers. We do not know what happened behind the scenes yet, but questions will more than likely be answered in the coming days.

What a load a crap we were today ...2 strikers and a kid to take us to january ...mid table looks difficult !!

Br being called a yesman and being criticised for not being stronger on insisting the get people in. if the owners are refusing to budge on this issue can anyone tell me wat esle is br suppose to do??people ar criticising him but nobody has a suggestion on wat he could have done to force them. ive no doubt he explained to them how important it was to our season that we got dempsey in but if they say no we're not budgeing wat is he to do? dont c how that is being a yes man. the only option there for a manager is to threaten to resign and dont think br has done enough so far to go down that road. maybe fergie or mancini could force the issue this way but br not in a positon yet to do this so he basically could do nothing but grin and bear it

You all hear this

liverpool will be winrer chapions
suarez scoring 15 before jan and yesilscoring 20 sterling with 30assist and finally borini or allen ill be the heroes watch my name its aneesh contact me in facebook gopal liverpool's the name!!!!!!

aneesh

Amazed we have signed someone like Borini and missed out on Ramirez who would have been the same price. Added to the fact we did not get a striker we are now in big trouble. There is no back-up to Suarez this season. BR may have thought he had a lack of quality in the midfield but he has not addressed the main problem and that was a striker. Lost the plot already... {Ed002's Note - Liverpool did not "miss out" on Ramirez any more than Liverpool missed out on Lavezzi or van Persie.}

Right...im trying to be positive in the thick of this current transfer window, but how are we supposed to be?....
A stadium promised and not produced.........Competing with the big guns(which we used to be one of) promised and not delivered.....
Players promised before the window was out due to a thin squad promised and not given.....
Ian Ayre the new Rick Parry and totally not trustworthy....
The whole of the LFC community confused and bitterly disappointed due to a lack of backing from our non SOCCER loving owners....
I just dont get it......Why oh why when we are respected around Europe do we allow ourselves to be treated in this way?......
You CANNOT allow a 35 million pound striker who is just finding his feet to go out the door whe we have no-one in line to replace him, just unbelievable.....Ive supported us for 39 years and have earned my stripes when it comes to opinions...Im genuinely embarrassed by how we do business right now and Rodgers for one will be getting my utmost support as i dare bet hes a as disgusted as we are at the lack of a squad due to the ineptness of a certain Mr Ayre and his gang of yanks.....gutted Red......YNWA JFT96

IT turns out the owners are not that sharp.

I blame Tom Werner, He isn't great for the club. Ian Ayres is an person too.

I would of rater seen Luis Suarez, Joe Cole, Aquilani & Gerrard leave the club and start with a fresh slate. The real issue this summer has been the wage bill and the clubs intolerance to buying players while having people on the books.

The club isn't reared up to deal with transfers in an decent manner. Transfers should be scouted, tapped up, terms agreed ect by May. So sept to May find the players and get them signed.

Then look to off load anyone else you don't want for the rest of the window.

I have to say I am with you...as much as it pains me to say it. A good friend of mine if a diehard Utd fan and has been taunting me for the last 2-3 seasons saying we have become a mid table, small team....and you know what?...we have become that. I take a step back and take my emotions away, take away the 40 years of passion I have given in my support and the club has given me in return...and what have we become...sadly a top 8 team who plays up for big games but cannot do it week in and week out.
Now being a resident of the US for the last 18 years and by coincidence being a Red Sox fan since I moved here, I was very happy with FSG taking over. They truly turned around the Sox, a team that has history and pedigree but were classic underachievers. I felt positive....but am shaken by our total and complete amateurish approach to signing players in this window. Is it that bad that a player we desired, Dempsey gets sold to Spurs for 6m? WTF! He scored 20+ in the EPL last year..granted he is almost 30..but seriously...we needed him and we couldn't stump up 6m? We did not need Carroll for 35m but we did need Dempsey for 6m...I'm at a loss.
I am incredibly excited by Rodgers...I like his approach and I love the way the team is trying to play (no, we are not there yet...but it is only a wet week). Allen is a total gem...and he is bringing in the young players...something every Pool fan loves to see, and something Kenny didnt do even when it was blindingly obvious that we he had created was not working....and to add, I will always love KK and what he has done for LFC.
We are totally at a crossroads...we believe we are top 4 but are playing top 8/10...I hope it turns around...but my confidence has for the first time, despite all the ups and downs, been totally shaken.....
rjb

I totally agree, the owners are priming us to have no debt for a big sell off in the future. But the money wasted by Kenny last year did the damage. 2 recognised strikers, thats all we have. It's going to be a long winter.

Its because we have no money. I for one wanted LFC to have mega rich owners like City and Chelsea. People say that we dont need mega rich owners, well those owners took City to the title while we were scrapping for 7th place with our neighbours Everton. Even i read that Everton were tying up a deal for Jack Butland, where were we then??. Oh wait, i know, waiting for Santa Claus to come riding in and send us humble pie....

Totally agree, even worse when you read that the price Spurs paid for Dempsey was considerably less than what we offered, they were never going to sell him to us.

I feel your disappointment, I for one hate when we loose our targets to other Premier league teams especially when they are of low calibre than ours. I also believe in being shrewd about any business in order to compete with the big guns. They have buckets of $$$ when you have your wits. Having said that there is absolutely no reason we could not have added a mill or two to get dempsey, its a gamble not to have him.

There are positives though mate!

I for one will not loose hope as we still have $$$ from not buying on Dday and we still have more or less the same squad except without AC.

There will be other Allens', Sahins' and Dempseys'(even better-young) out there who will cost the club less or at least be worth their value.

BR never had this mould of a squad at swansea...he has it 100 times better this time and top four is the minimum.

YNWA

Stadium issue is being delt with eg hotel getting built on anfield rd etc how do u know that it wasnt Rodgers that put the price on Dempsey and said don't pay any more , I'm happy as we haven't s been robbed by another club (35 mil4 Bigfoot) and I would sooner give the young kids a go instead

I totally agree and canot belive this has happened. I am in shock. don't forget we let bellamy go aswell. you canno go into a season with two strikers! madness. surely they realise that.

Agree with you in all aspects. I think that FSG appointed Rogers so they can bully him

I must agree with this post, however I have a number of questions.

1 - If Suarez gets injured what do we do
2 - who else is going to score our goals ( Borini, Gerrard ? )
3 - We do not have vast fire power all over the pitch unlike other teams

All in all very worrying 13 players out, 4 in and BR was stating that our squad needed help.
When FSG bought the club we were told that they have the funds to sign a player if we really wanted them, this is clearly not the case.
As the Red Sox are struggling are the funds being used on them ( as I personally feel that they take priority )
Liverpool board - can we have some answers please.

I can't believe you are having a go at your owners!! The guy invested a fortune last year which dalgleish wasted. Try been a Newcastle fan we are one of the richest clubs in the prem abd spent the least amount of money.

I dare say a lot of us are feeling exactly the same mate.

Totally agree with every word of that post.
It seems this window was all about reducing the wage bill and nothing else. To allow Dempsey to go to Spurs was embarrassing. He publicly stated where he wanted to go, we stated we wanted him, yet we let him slip through our fingers.

I am having disturbing thoughts of FSG being Hicks and Gillett all over again.

Andy Carroll, even on the bench, is better that NO striker - it MUST all be about wages and cost cutting.

Old Swan Red - gutted

I utterly agree with you, we are talking about football, they talks about SOCCER, they are 2 different sports I'm sorry, there's no passion, no heart in the latter, just money, just business, that's a FACT.

No players were promised person. the club always maintained they were trying to bring in people.

The stadium rejuvenation is closer with more houses being demolished around the ground and fsg spending millions on rehauling the inside of the ground.

if you don't like it take your "loyal" 39 yrs and go support someone else

Totally agree 100% with this post. FSG just as the cowboys did before them are turning us into a laughing stock. Not a happy bunny, Phil R

Ayre should do himself a favor and resign before he faces the fans' anguish

We will be very lucky to get as many as the 47 goals scored last season. I don't mind missing out on Dempsey but Rodgers has got enough off of the wage bill to bring in a recognised striker. Fair enough we may not be able to attract someone world class at the moment but we must have been able to buy someone.

Ayre should do himself a favor and resign before he faces the fans' anguish

I like yourself have been suporting liverpool for about 40 years now and I can not belive what happend yesterday , disapointed angrery are a few words .what is happening to the club I love and supported from a boy . Even my son of 6 has decided to support another team where most sons support there dads team . I feel sorry brendon rodgers he must be wondering if he did the correct thing coming to liverpool , where was the backing from the owners ayre is also a joke . we had problems scoring last season ,now we have lost another striker and not replaced him, how are we going to find the net this season . bad times ahead i think .

Poor owners

Well said. I could not have put it better myself.

In total agreement FSG OUT they are only interested in profit and have allowed the squad to be weakened. They will sell the club soon as there is no way we will get 6 place let alone fourth.

Only interested in their own bank balance not the club

Come on Reds lets get them out

Totally agree - been posting similar and got slate but lets do the maths. club bought on cheap & happy old owners out...BUT...carroll suarez money covered by babel/torres.
50mil last window if 25m standard charter money and warrior money.
this window buys have been covered by sales plus shirt sponsor money...so whereis the FSG investment? im happy to be proved wrong if someone knows different but as far as i can see theres no new money gone in despite rubbish. and to let a striker go before a done deal for new one ( and bearing in mind you need 4 minimum ) is totally inept - we are a laughing stock, Ayre is the new rick parry - how do these people keep a job - disgusting - like poster, saw my first game at Anfield in 1977....and to the knockers, this is about opinions from people who care and having a pop at people for posting genuine concerns serves no purpose {Ed002's Note - The club lost £50M in their first season. Another £50M or so in their second season and I would expect substantial losses again this season. The owners are picking up the tab for that. You need to look beyond the transfers.}

Dear Ed 02, kindly, we fans are not so much interested in that aspect of soccer. The owners must have know that VERY WELL before they even accepted to buy us. Do you think Sheik Mansour cares for the loses he makes??. Im pretty sure he is confident that if he can give his most(money) towards bringing in "star" players then the rewards seem to balance out so called loses. For example, let us just say that by winning the Europa League we get 35M. The owners can easily fork out about 10M from it and the rest is given to the coach to fund moves for star players.
I for one wanted to LFC to become another "City" or "Chelsea" because quite frankly its the only way we are winning the title. Forget the rubbish you hear of team spirit and blah blah blah. Its all about having the right mix of players and playing them as a cohesive unit. Brendan can easily tackle the problem of them playing as a cohesive unit as that is his job anyways!!. On the point of having the right mix of players, that is ONLY possible if the owners give the coach his full backing to get in the players whatever their cost will be. Mark my words, Javi Garcia is going to be one of the best central defensive midfielders in the world in about 2 seasons. People question city for their "large" spending. Well then why didnt Swansea offer them Sinclair for 15-25M??. Why only for 7-9M(correct me if am wrong). Its because their owners have knowledge of the way transfers run and have the right representatives running the deals. Until we get Bill Gates to sign as our new principal owner(if that is even possible), we will always remain a top 10 club.
If we have to bring in Falcao and Ateltico say he is worth 45M then pay them the bloody money and deal with the costs later. I know people will disagree with me, but even signing Suarez was not a signal of intent from me. A signal of intent about the willingness of an owner of a club to spend to make the squad champs is how Chelsea have signed Mata, Eden, Marin, Moses, Oscar etc. Man Utd buying Kagawa and RVP.
Long story short, mega rich owners is the difference between us being champions and being a midtable mediocre team.
P.S. These are just my views ed's... {Ed001's Note - sorry but I would rather know we had responsible owners than your childish and quite frankly ridiculous ideas. You want us to do what Portsmouth and Leeds did! You spend what you have, not what you might have if the spending work out ok.}

Last year we did not score enough goals and our attack was not strong enough, that was our biggest problem all season. Then we made the mistake of not buying a striker in january when everybody knew it was what we desperatley needed then this year we lose Kuyt and Bellamy for about 1million each and Carroll on loan making nothing and brought borini for 10 million leaving us with only 2 strikers when we struggled last year with 4 and forcing us to play youngsters like Morgan who judging by his performance against hearts isnt ready for the 1st team yet. Even keeping Pacheco so we had at least some back up would have made sense but now our attack is in a worse state than last year

Eds, if you've gone to the pub to get pissed,
drink one for me. {Ed007's Note - The LFC site has totally exploded and we have a massive backlog of posts sitting. If your posts don't get posted we apologise, I think you guys have broke the internet!}

WE want answers. YagEraDetinu

Looks like Yesil might get his chance sooner than expected if he is as talented as you all say

Or Adam morgan, but either way we shouldnt be releing on youth, i think our only option now is to sign owen

If Yesil is good enough, he's old enough!

From what Iv'e seen of him he's definately good enough.

Haaha he is not

"Haaha he is not"

In other words, 21 goals in 32 games across Germany U-17, U-18 and U-19 is not good enough eh??. Oh wait, but i guess you'd be the first person to shout that Carroll who has scored a whooping 5 goals in 50 games for LFC is good enough...

Doesnt matter who plays no creativity or talent in the team i could score 21 goals in kids league so haaha he is not

Michael Owen not moving anywhere tonight, his camp are confident he will find new club in coming days. As free agent, deadline no effect. Go for it Liverpool. if Suarez injured then borini alone striker.

r-r

If there was ever a way for him to return to Liverpool after playing for Man U with some sort of welcome, its now. We need depth up front. Surely he couldn't find a better club to finish his career off with

Borini couldn't strike a match! Did you see the open goal Raheem gave him at Tynecastle?

He's key n fowler are without clubs too :P

Is there any chance we will pick up a striker on a free

I will list some of the free agents available:
Michael Owen
Heskey
Fuller
Carew

As far as im concerned Owen is the only one with enough quality. Lets hope he signs

Well ya, i believe there is. Free agents can be picked up even if transfer window is closed.

Owen, heskey, fowler

If the damiao deal was supposed to be a lpan then am i right in saying we can still get him as the loan window is longer? If this is the case hwat are the chanves?
Thanks eds appreciate your work {Ed001's Note - no, the loan window is shut.}

31 Aug 2012 23:09:09
Can we still sign players on loan after the window has closed.?? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Thanks for all your work eds {Ed001's Note - no mate, not in the Prem.}

Free agents

Pacheco is staying! Reckon he cud get some game time after our lack of signings!

After Rodgers getting mugged off by the powers that be. It's time for the likes of Pacheco to come of age. The amount we spend on up and coming talent with very few living up to expectations.

He's not been allocated a squad number. He can't play for us

Clubs have till Tuesday to register the 25 player squad

Thanks for a great site. As you said we bid for Damiao, was that bid instantly rejected or why did that fall out? {Ed001's Note - we couldn't agree terms.}

Hi Ed, terms with Internacional or Damiao himself? And was it a proposed permanent or loan deal? Cheers, and great work! {Ed002's Note - They set a price weeks ago - it was never going to happen. No chance.}

Because we are no longer a top 4 club, we need CL football to attract big players

We couldn't agree terms!!

You won't get worldclass with 50.000 a week...

I supported FSG from day one, now at last I see whom we have to deal with. Almost the same ass H+G.

Gutted..

Marc

With the player or the team? {Ed002's Note - There were no discussions with teh player.}

Ed i suppose realisticly we could probably sign Damiao in january if he was interested in coming yesterday? {Ed019's Note - Sure}

Marc, I feel your pain. I can't believe We have been swindled again by a pair of ****s

Rory smith The Times, suggests we have knocked 450k per week off the wage bill. Small consolation, very small. Approx 23 million a year, if true.

Muzmacol YNWA

So let me get this right... we have 'saved' 23 million pounds on wages.

This figure is nothing compared to what we could win if we had strikers ?

Tel 1949

23 mil is not small

But if that goes to balancing some numbers, perhaps FSG will open up a little in January.

It is a very good point. The wage bill was a problem especially with the amount that was being paid to players that were not really worth it. Hopefully it will allow the club to be more competitive in the transfer market in the future. Still not happy about lack of signings though.....

What the owners are all about

There's a good striker in January!

Meaning that we spent no money on bringing Assaidi, Allen and Borini in.

Saved £21.6m from wages

sold adam £4m, kuyt 800k, bellamy £2m, ecclestone 500k = £7.3m

£2.5m from spearing and carroll loan fee's.

21.6 + 7.3 + 2.5 = £31.4m (made/saved)

Allen £15m
Borini £9.5m
Assaidi £2.4m
Sahin £2m loan
Yesil £1m
= £29.9m

means we spent NO money on players coming in despite there being an initial £20m or so for a transfer budget.

which is how much BR thought he had to spend on the deadline day, found out it wasn't so, got Vexed and left early around 19:30. {Ed052's Note - But you then need to add in wages for the new signings mate!!!! That would be perhaps £24 million, so, really, they have spent around £30m this summer}

Hi eds do you think there would be anybody in dubai interested in buy the club from fsg this year? {Ed001's Note - I very much doubt it.}

Absolute shocking handling of the Dempsey affair, we unsettled the player and once again failed to follow through with our advances, but we have a history of this amateurish behaviour ( Gareth Barry)

Absolutely disgusted!!!, come on ed show our true feelings!

Fresh investment would be nice

F*** off FSG,John Henry B******.......making mess our club!

Dubai finances are in a mess. Thank God DIC did not buy us. They have big loan restructurings going on.

I'm in Dubai and I'd be really interested. Would have to get a second job though! : )

31 Aug 2012 22:35:08
Nathan Eccleston off to blackpool

31 Aug 2012 22:33:07
Eccleston sold to Blackpool. Confirmed on official site. More funds.... too late?

31 Aug 2012 22:31:28
Nathan eccelston signed for Blackpool permanent deal

31 Aug 2012 22:31:04
We must be able to recall carroll from loan surely???? Eds is it possible?

BADGER {Ed001's Note - no.}

31 Aug 2012 22:27:11
Is there not still a chance of Sturridge on loan?

31 Aug 2012 22:24:16
ESPN are reporting that Fulham wanted a greater fee from Liverpool than they accepted from Villa and Spurs. They punished us.

Punished us for enquiring about their player really, whats going on in football today ??/

No they were probably punishing us for the person that put it on the FSG website earlier in the window that Dempsey was a Liverpool player even before a deal wsas done!

31 Aug 2012 22:23:19
No bull here lads, why would I lie? Just stopped at services in between runcorn and Chester on m56 for petrol and Ian Ayre was there asking the woman at the till if she knows where Michael Owen lives. Honest guv I aint no lier like.

Cheers, Tommy W

Lmao that's funny ..

I posted last week wasnt put on, not moaning, that owen would sign not pretending to be in the know but we havnt got money obviously,we spent big in allen borini and then on sahin all be it a loan but a hefty loan then we have had to make do with smaller signings but before we have a go br has a good history with smaller signings assasaidi and owen but still we have spent bout 33 mill and managed to shift some dead wood and reduce wage bill what do u moaners want to run club into debt fsg said they will not spend money they dont have remember hicks and gillette dont want to end up in that state again and i agree we r short up front but carroll was never going to get a run in the team as doesnt fit in we all know that so makes sense to get rid of huge wages and perhaps when assasadi and sahin get playing then maybe borini can play more of a central role up front and lets start putting the young lads in like stirling and morgan people have to start getting realistic and accept the fact that this year we r paying a harsh price for the mis spending of huge amounts of money by a certain kk fact.keep smiling and all good things come to those who wait

Haha, just gotta laugh the way our tranfer window ended

If he had driven a bit further Owen was on the Hoole roundabout holding a sign that said 'will kick a ball for food!'

You could be right, Michael Owen's address is part of compulsory staff induction at service stations these days.

Why would you lie? No bull lads? D!ck

31 Aug 2012 22:19:16
Michael owen to sign for us :-/

SiiickEd

I think 30 minute or if a striker injury then he can cover up. get him

My post put on the banter page the other day when I said that FSG are not interested in getting LFC back too the top, people always saying that we don't miss out on targets. I bet most of these people are now heating humble pie. WTF ARE FSG PLAYING AT? get rid of Carroll, adam spearing to fund moves for Walcott and Dempsey and we sign neither.
Who are they expecting to score our goals or are we gonna be that good in midfield we can play without a striker?
Even the eds must now be worried what is going on.

Please post on rumours page so people read this and give opinions and yourselves eds do u really think FSG know what they doing? {Ed001's Note - I think they trusted Ayre to get deals done.}

Cant see how Ayre is to blame, surely he is told "that's the budget deal with it"

Ed i think your being to kind to fsg, if they wanted a player they would tell ayre pay the fee. Just admit it and say these owners are no better to the previous 1s, infact could be worse. RedTurk

So Ed001 are you saying there was good money there to spend on players and you blame Ayer for not getting anyone in?
Thanks
Campbell

Never seen something like this before. its the worst job in the history of the club in my eyes. Rodgers has got the hardest job in PL right now i think. this situation is so bad its hard to understand the outcome of it. my bet in PL this year. 11 or 12

Well Ed001 if they waited for that then we now know they're f**king stupid beyond anything any of us thought!

Financial repair, thats what they're playing at. I agree with not paying silly prices. It sets a precedent for future windows, and paying silly money was the reason we need financial repair!

And we have still got the signing of the transfer window in Nuri Sahin. Trust me. And in Carroll were not exactly losing goals because he hardly scored anyway!

Absolutely gutted boys! sad sad day for Liverpool...so much hope and dreams , GONE!

Ed what are you talking about what did they expect ayre to do deals with?? buttons?? {Ed002's Note - If money could have been raised through the sale of Carroll then that money could have been re-invested.}

Yes,last year they blame Comolli,this year Ayre...They dont want to spend,thats it.This is football not baseball.Sorry but this is not sport for Americans...Serbian Red

Hi guys ive got some news, now dont take this as 100% but iv found out some info the the owners were trimming the wage bill in order to get ready to sell the club, apparently they've been stringing us along. RedTurk

Ah RedTurk. That must make your Friday night so much more enjoyable.

The owners are trimming the wage bill but have nothing to do with selling the club ..
I posted in here many times since BR was appointed the most important target for this year is to re-configure the wage bill reducing the operational cost so the club can start to make profits .
Most of you tend to forget FSG are a financial company , they work for profit and have a duty to their shareholders to make a return on their investment ,If I invested I would expect my money back with interest.
Its one of the reasons was Brandon was chosen, he will work with cheap budget and expected to make progress from last year .. good luck to him.

Roy

Hi red turk, could you give info on this, and where you got it from, cheers.............lfc

Not true. FSG have changed the dynamics of the club. Prefering inexpensive potential to expensive flops. This is very much a going concern for FSG. You dont need to know football to know business. They are rebuilding the foundation and in 10 years we will be market leaders again because of it

No i dont think so, i just think they dont understand the way football works. right now i wish the King sat here with his team giving it one more try, we made so many chanses last year. i really do think it would had gone better this year with the KING!

Couldn't say it is true or not, but it would make some sense, invest enough money to get the club back on a relative stable footing, with minimum debt, youngish squad and young manager and then look to cash out?

I don't know the overall figures or level of investment that FSG put in to - a. initially buy the club, and b. further investment to ensure stability, but assume it was £350/£400 Million, then if they can find a buyer at £400 Million they might think, breaking even is fine (realising that the investment required to win the title and or sustain/maintain/obtain a top four position is far greater then they actually thought), or better still, if they can find a buyer for £500/£600 Million then a profit is a profit?

Pure speculation but you never know?

As an aside, I honestly thnk (and have done from day one) that the owners will be Baseball first and Football, neh, Soccer second.

I would never take anything from you Turk as 100% - except ss 100% garbage. I intentionally left "Red" off your name too Turk.

This post is just as ridiculous as the rest of your drivel we see on here.

LIVERPRES

I hope so.Serbian Red

I also have heard this they want a good amount of money back before they sell up

MABZ

Rubbish. they've just invested millions in rejuvenating the inside of the groud
