Just thought I'd share some information that I received earlier today.

Arsenal will step up their efforts to sign Pepe Reina in the summer having identified a proven and experience goalkeeper alongside Szczeny as a must.

Arsene Wenger said today the club were close to making one more signing on deadline day which I believe was another Premier League goalkeeper - I suspect his name will come out in the coming days/weeks.

I'm not saying Pepe's going but there is definite interest from Arsenal, the Athletico link is there because his Dad played there, AM will have money when Falcao leaves in the summer, and they have a loan keeper who may difficult to retain in the face of growing interest from elsewhere - Barca, who I understand could make a move for De Gea if Fergie buys a goalkeeper. It's hard to say whether the Barca link to Pepe is just speculation or not.

Cheers - The Doctor46

Arsenal will get Asmir Begovic not Reina

I thought Fergie had signed Begovich from Stoke.

Begovic is a good shout from the first reply.

He was indeed the player I was alluding to re the last day bid from Arsenal, but I understand their primary target was/is Pepe although Liverpool had not been receptive to a January departure for Pepe.

I think it also may be a little more than a coincidence that Arsenal were in for one of Pepe's best pals - Villa.

Cheers - The Doctor46

Why would he want to go to Arsenal, they certainly are not a stronger team. If he goes there he will just changing like for like. Truth is he is more likely to win a trophy in the next few years with Liverpool than with them.

Hi ed's how much is the agreed fee for Andy Carroll?. {Ed001's Note - something like £17m.}

Ed's by my calculations.
Outs. Carroll 17m
Downing 8-10m
Reina 15-20m
Coetes 7m
=Around 50+m from sales plus 40m summer kitty leaves us with 90m+ to spend this summer!
Thanks Brad {Ed002's Note - If that is true there will be considerable debt placed on the club again. Do you really want to go back down that road?}

The fee is infact £10m for the transfer of Andy Carroll to West Ham - question marks over whether he's willing to sign permanently though.

Ed, with Diakyte expressing his desire to play for LFC I just want to know has he said this about other clubs, which seems to be the norm with a lot of footballers these days Cheers Rob Smith JFT96 {Ed001's Note - no idea what he has said about other clubs, sorry.}

It seems he has!

tvNews reporting that Liverpool have already agreed to sell striker Andy Carroll to West Ham at the end of the season, according to Hammers co-owner David Sullivan.
How true is it considering tv is very reliable source for me?

It was a loan to buy deal, 10mil they are paying. .

Carroll hasn't agreed to go to West Ham, that's more the point.

I believe i'm somewhere near the crux of it if I type that, Liverpool have a deal in the region of 17 million with West Ham, should they stay in the Premiership for Carroll, and paying 3 million for the initial loan season for Carroll. I think i'm roughly about there.

But again, Carroll hasn't agree or signed a permanent transfer to stay at West Ham and I think he'd return to Liverpool, in the event of not agreeing to stay at West Ham. Although i'm happy to be corrected.

BCDI.

Team agreement : yes
Player agreement : not yet

SpudRed

I thought the original loan was a 'loan to buy' type deal. I thought he was always going to stay there long term?

A team that was on rocky ground in the prem were never going to agree a 17M signing. Carroll will become our problem again in July, play pre-season and a few early games and hopefully we get £10 - £15M for him. If not then I'd keep him on the bench as an emergency, want clubs to realise we're not an easy touch when signings go wrong.

How can there be a team agreement without a player agreement in this case? So Liverpool said they would not loan Carroll and Carroll thinks "oh, let me be clever and pretend i'm interested in joining WHFC. At the end of the season i'll just refuse to sign with permanently". Carroll had to have agreed to the deal on the condition that West Ham stay up otherwise it would have been a straight loan.

Where do you get your information from? Nothing has been agreed

Carroll won't want to come back just to sit on the bench. He knows that Rodgers just doesn't rate him. So unless Newcastle or maybe a Villa come in he will stay at West Ham. Plus we have an agreed price in place with West Ham so anyone else trying to sign him know the minimum that we require for him.

Hi eds, I'd say its been a pretty sucessful transfer window for us, we have added a couple quality players, and shipped out some of the grossly overpaid (I hate to use this term) deadwood.
It's seems we are resigned to loosing Pepe in the summer and are actively scouting new Goalkeepers, I just wonder if we had looked at Fernando Muslera?
Thanks, keep up the good work.
Hutch {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest from Liverpool at this time.}

Would have loved Butland! Now Valdes.

Reina leaving is not a loss to LFC.
He, s been poor for along time now.
There, s plenty of good young goalkeepers out there to take his place.

Pepe has got over his bad patch, playing well again now since he lost some weight. I see no reason for him to leave, pure guess work.
CR

Walcott's goal was horrible keeping though.

Hi Eds,

Just a quick one Is Christian Eriksen A target for Liverpool and do you think Lfc will make a move for him in the Summer.

GAM# {Ed002's Note - Possible, but I think he has other preferences in mind.}

Those preferences being Spain right ed? Or even Milan? {Ed002's Note - Back in July the Milan Press Office were convinced of interest from Manchester United and they have let it be known that they expected a bid to be made by for Eriksen. Expect both Milan clubs and Roma to press if a bid is made by Manchester United and I remain in agreement with them that there is every chance of that happening. The player remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam for18 more months before moving to Spain but would likely jump at the chance of a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona if the opportunity arises. However, Ajax will not let him run down his contract so a move beckons. The player will see out the rest of the season at Ajax and see if he can attract attention from Spain.}

Not much in summer

He is flattered by interest by us. If we put in a bid we have a very good chance of getting him

I'll probably get shot down for this one but why not get Louis Saha on a PAYP or short term contract until the summer. Proven goalscorer and I know he is 34 now but for a few months he could provide some help in the top 4 push.

Con

Did you get a bang on the head Con?

If all this were true then he would be still be at Sunderland but they preferred Graham and Fletcher

Lad you should be shot down for coming out with this. At least you realise that

Wind it in soft lad - this is a guy that is as good as finished. look what BR is doing - building for the future with youth not paying players to come in on big wages and not do notin. if we're struggling for goals - we need to bring someone up from the reserves and start blooding him now!

A few years ago it might have been a good idea but he couldn't even break into the sunderland team or get any game time I don't think he would be any use to us would probably be better letting yesil have game time before giving saha a contract
giblet

Cos he is garbage mate

Its probably more of an issue with his injuries and fitness as to why he was released, but WHEN fit he could still do a good job. But I'm sure some people wouldn't want him at LFC because he played for the toffee's and the red scum. A payp deal till the end of the season wouldn't be as bad as some people are making out.

I know its not going to happen but things like this are a better idea than all the "Aww have we any interest in Cavani?Higuain etc" when the answer is clearly no. Not a chance.

Fed up seeing posts about who people want to see signed rather than what is realistic.

Once a manc never a red

You don't know what you are talking about!

01 Feb 2013 18:18:05
saha are you serious we would be laughing stock again if we sign him. I will have lost all faith in what the gaffers doing(to old injury prone ), massive step backwards. only gerrard and suarez are what you call world class player in team at moment. there are to many average joes in squad and he would add to embarrashing signings club has done last 2 years.

A blue, then a manc. neverrrrrrrr

If you suggested Yakubu, I would probably say, "we can consider"; Saha? No. He can live on pension.

Haha. Please tell me you're on a wind up with that one?
Why not get Heskey aswell!

Not a rumour but a question for the Eds, I've seen some of you previously say that premier league teams are only allowed to have 2 players on loan at any one time, but it seems that Fulham have signed 3 players on loan this window, how have they managed to get around this rule?

Gman82 {Ed002's Note - There are exemptions if a player is a goalkeeper and if a player is on a loan-to-buy deal.}

Eds,

Juan Manuel Vargas contract running out in this Summer right? Is Liverpool interested in him? He can be a good cover for left-side position at Liverpool.

Any info on his recent performance on loan at Genoa?

thanx Eds.

Kameel Hasyim. LFC {Ed002's Note - I think it very unlikely that he will move to Liverpool.}

I think if we are looking at left back we should definately look at Luke Shaw and if he prooves to be too expensive then the young CSKA Moskow LB.

Another silly month over. can't believe we missed out on all those players we didn't want :op

I'll also wait till 2nd feb b4 askign about summer targets.

Om a serious note; Ed's are any transfer windows (apart from loan english lower divisions) still open (I seem to remember a turkish one or a different country being open longer in the summer (or I could be going mad).

Personally I'm happy with the business completed; from a long term perspective (keep addign 2/3 players of potential and class for next 2 windows and squad will look v good).

Now the real question; do you know Diakite's ituation with Lazio? not played, they paying him and he's out of contract in the summer - would a mutual consent termination of contract be possible?

Which then brings me full circle - any player (CB) we have that could move if a window is still open?

May be totally wrong but hey ho - thanks Ed's

Hoola {Ed002's Note - A whole bunch finish at different times, so you can sell Suarez to Norway still, Gerrard can go to Japan, Agger to the MLS, JonJonJo to Uzbekistan.}

Was the Jonjonjo a subliminal message Ed002 or do you really know the infamous wonderdogsparky?

Tel 1949 {Ed002's Note - Nobody really knows WonderDogSparky Tel.}

Does Uzbekistan actually have a league. ? Or could we just sell him to the country as a whole?

I can just see Jonjo playing in Russia with a fur hat on. aklfc

Bunyodkor are Asian Champions League semi finalists.

The you 23s nearly got to the Olymipics (UAE come back from 2-0 at half time to win 3-2 in the final qualifying game).

They're top of their world cup qualification group (world ranking 56).

Rivaldo use to play there.

Scolari used to manage there.

Zico used to manage there.

Ronaldo went there once.

I don't think Liverpool could do much with the Uzbek Soums that they'd offer.

Any deal would take at least 10 years.

Now that the transfer window is over i'm really hoping scouts get ready for the summer
M' vila and eriksson are still up for grabs {Ed002's Note - It'll be a long sumemr for you.}

The same M'vila who just signed for rubin kazan? At least do some research

Plus it's not like Eriksson is a player that'll need expensive scouting, you can catch him on TV pretty often!

Suarez staying will be main target in summer.
