The World Club Cup is on hold while they revamp it to a once every 4 year summer tournament. So it’s likely even if we win the CL we won’t get to compete in the WCC.

Is that true?

Hi,
While it’s hard to find information about the FIFA Club World Cup 2019, Morocco has declared an Interest to hold the tournament in 2019 and 2020. Since 2009, hosts federations hold the tournament in 2 consecutive years.

Expect this and next seasons FIFA WCC to go ahead. FIFA are trying to push through with their plans to replace this tournament with a larger version.

Isn’t the club World Cup one of those things that you probably don’t want to play in. going half way across the world for 2 weeks in the middle of the season for a bunch o friendly games.

Firmane, If Morocco hosts the tournament I don't see that as an issue for LFC. As this will be a fligh to north Africa comparable to a flight for visiting a CL side.

Extra games you don’t really want.

{Ed002's Note - And the League Cup and FA Cup of course - many Liverpool fans don't think they are worth anything either. Same was said about the Premier League last week.}

It's worth what you think it's worth. It's one of the few (only? ) tournaments we've never won, so it's worth winning for the prestige of adding it to the list of tournaments we've won.

Great opportunity and prestigious enough seeing as you have to win the champions league for entry. 😆.

Winning trophies is a habitual thing. The likes of the Super Cup, Community Shield, Club World Cup, Carabao Cup etc might not be major trophies, but they are trophies.

{Ed025's Note - so is the one for the egg and spoon race at our lady of the assumption U9,s MK....and would have the same prestige mate..

19 May 2019 16:27:40
Trophies are trophies guys, if we win the CL and compete in the CWC, then it's just another peice of silverware to win.

Ed025, I normally agree with your comments, but nothing in my opinion is too small, even the egg and spoon race. If I'm playing a game of Monopoly, you bet I'm going to try my best to not let anyone buy matching colour sets so they can start building hotels.

Liverpool should be aiming to win every competition they compete in, otherwise what's the point of entering? If it's "too small" then ask to be omitted from the tournament out of respect for the other teams in it. But no matter how "small" the Community Shield is, it will still make my day to see Liverpool lifting it. That doesn't mean I'm copping out of wanting my team to win the title or Europe, but winning is winning, it's a shiny metal trophy, as is the carabao - and I'm feeling greedy for metal! Ultimately, I'd rather be placing hotels on Mayfair and bankrupting my friends than them doing that to me, or not playing at all.

{Ed025's Note - thats a bit needy of you if you dont mind me saying adam, i would like to think liverpool are above needing pointless trophy,s and should be concentrating on the bigger stuff for me mate, it would be a terrible shame if one of your stars got an injury in one of these worthless encounters and were out for the season, take tiger woods and all the other big stars of golf, they concentrate on the majors and leave all the fodder to the less talented, there is a reason why they do that..

19 May 2019 17:34:06
Ed025, Everton would still finish outside the top 6 even in that event 😉.

{Ed025's Note - i would have taken that after our mid season collapse MK, but we are back now mate so watch your backs.. :)

19 May 2019 17:43:20
It’s still two weeks out the season, even if we use youth etc we’d still be playing twice a week for most weeks of the year.

Pointless tournament, but if we win we get that Crest on our shirts for a year which will make it all worth it.

19 May 2019 22:42:08
then we need a bigger squad to cope with all these extra matches, plus more game time for the fringe players and younger players like Brewster
if we get better luck in the FA Cup and League Cup draws, we should be taking them a bit more serious too,
think the FA might even look after us, just like they do the other big sides .

Lets win the champions league first before we moan about the pros and cons of the Club world cup .

Big tournaments or little tournaments, City would have not won their historic treble had they not won the little tournaments. Grant it they probably had the easiest path to each final. For us losing the PL did not hurt as much as in 2014. Because then there was not much optimism that we would be back the following year to compete. Hell to be honest, I did not think we would be in back to back finals. I would like silverware, but for it to complement the PL or Champions League crown.

You make a very good point about injury, ed, I can't argue with that. Injury before the season is even underway would be devastating. In an ideal world, those players in our squad who aren't regularly starting would be able to play in the cup matches and provide real quality. We didn't have that against Wolves and I feel we paid the price. Perhaps someone like Brewster should have started instead of Sturridge (but he may have still been injured) . You make very good points and I can't argue with them, I will be watching the Community Shield wincing at times. That said, I'd love to see us win, I still can't take it as a friendly like most supporters on here. You mention other stars like Tiger Woods, but I bet you Federer in his prime would have been mopping up every minor tournament as he builds up to a grand slam.

Tiger woods has won 81 PGA tour events, he goes to win every event he enters. We should be the same, players can get injuries at anytime, yes we could rest players or give others a chance but I would like to see us try r best to win everything we r in.

{Ed025's Note - ahh a good catholic boy then flidby, i went to sir thomas a becket myself mate but it got knocked down about 40 years ago..

Tiger is resting now cos he is old. Oh, I suppose there is a lesson in that. I reckon ya go in, respect the competition and play to win. It'd be pretty cool to win a title that at least on paper states you are a world champ.
