hi eds do you think we're investing too much money in youth, experience is essential we need to bring in title winners, is there any truth on the Ericsson deal Danny Ireland lfc till I die {Ed002's Note - There is certainly interest in Eriksen but there is no deal right now. Having the right players who will work together is the key to success - I don't see age being a concern perhaps as much as you.}

Believable7 Unbelievable16

Would you still say Eriksen to Liverpool is still unlikely ed? {Ed002's Note - I would.}

Are Liverpool interested in Jay Rodriguez of southampton? {Ed002's Note - I am not sure but it has been suggested before.}

Believable9 Unbelievable23

Shame, isn't it! See the Saints site for your answer.

Eds. no surprise if true Reina leavin for barca I belive Reina is 3rd highest earner at anfield behind Gerrard and suerez no doubt more cost cutting on wages I belive ynwa {Ed002's Note - I expect there is every chance that Reina will leave Liverpool. I have explained before why Barcelona might be interested in him - try searching on ter Stegen.}

Believable25 Unbelievable5

Its another blow to our defence. The keeper has been a loyal guy and if tomorrow shall be his last game, then thank you mr pepe reina. he's done us proud for sure. Though jamie is going to be a main concern for replacement of his calibre. I have a sneaky feeling swansea keeper vorm may be interest of Brendan. Seems to of done well these past two seasons I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

I love the way it's insinuated that its FSG that are pushing this deal because of his wages lol
Some LFC fans will jump through hoops to push this myth.
50m+ spent just last season, I think rubbishes that to be honest.
How much did Kenny spend the season before??
I want FSG to push for value for money for our club.

I'm devastated to hear the rumour about Pepe leaving, Macca, that really is a blow if it happens. I would like to see Tello come in as part of the deal if he does go to Barcelona, that's assuming its Barcelona.

Believable23 Unbelievable8

He has been amazing for us, but Pepe has not been his best for a while now, and I suspect he wanted to go about the same time as Torres. I say let him go, cash in, and move on. Thank you Pepe, good job sir.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love us to go for ter stegan or courtious (spelling) now, tello as part of the deal would be great.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pepe is replaceable. He as not performed his best for the last two years. He probably was one of the best in the prem back then. His distribution is not the best and I believe whoever comes in will be to move the club forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not big blow. Poor season. Get McCarthy in

Agree0 Disagree0

Personly it's hard to say but I think it is actually time for him to go, watching him play recently he looks like his lost his passion for playing for lfc I think he looks a bit fed up, we always had good keepers I don't think it would be that hard to replace him, Danny, Ireland lfc till I die

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 I heard a rumours that we are after bernd leno if pepe goes? have u heard anything on that? {Ed002's Note - Seems unlikely.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that what people must realise is Pepe probably misses home and wants to see his kids grow up is Spain. Plus win a few trophies at Barca. don't blame him but I want Tello as part of the deal or forget it.
Plus Pepe has to want to leave

Agree0 Disagree0

All of you are so clueless its shocking.

reina will be irrepracable!
I already lost intrest and hope for next season with propably mignolet and brad jones fighting for the nr. 1 spot

spare me the rubbish about distribution when reina is by far the best in the league!

We are doomed, top 4? top 10 more like it!

Agree0 Disagree0

It's amazing how short people's memories actually are. Pepe has been the most consistent goalkeeper in the EPL over the last 5 years - hence the number of awards for most clean sheets. Won't be that hard to replace - seriously?

How many years and keepers have Utd gone through to replace Schmeichel? How many keepers has Wenger used to replace Seaman? Top quality keepers are thin on the ground and you actually want to get rid of one who plays for us?

It was mentioned that his distribution is lacking. I would reply to that poster to stop being brainwashed by the press, put the rag tabloids down, get out and actually go and watch a game. Reina is singularly THE best keeper with a ball at his feet.

Alex McCarthy is a pure MOTD fever case. people who would not even know of his existence are wetting themselves on the strength of 1 excellent performance against us. How many other games has he played to the same standard this season?

Lastly, on the accusation of a flagging passion for LFC. Have you ever listened to the man speak about the club? There is a genuine affinity with both club and fans, well the real fans at least.

Perhaps you may not have considered that the lack of genuine competition for Pepe's position may have taken a slight edge off his game, this is true anywhere when one's posituion is not under any threat. Bring back Xavi Valero and you may well see him ascend to the heights that saw him rated as 1 of the top 3 keepers in Europe. Rant over. long live Pepe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Devastated to hear Pepe probably is leaving. I'm working as a goalkeepers coach and what a lot of people seem to underestimate about goalkeepers is their ability to use their feet. Goalkeeping nowadays is so much more than making spectacular diving saves. Having a goalie who's able to play football with the feet and not just hoofes the ball up the field in blindnes is very crucial in modern football. It almost gives you an extra defender. In that respect they don't get much better than Pepe and it will not be easy to find a replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pepe please stay we love you
Hop

Agree0 Disagree0

Im honestly glad to see him go. High-earning under-performing player. Lacks physical presence and have lost more than won games for us the last few seasons.

We need a match-winning shotstopper with better aerial abilities. Just take a look at our horrific defensive set pieces, total mayhem every time.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope Pepe stays because he is a consistent player for us. However, if Pepe puts in a transfer request, I can understand.

PS. I still remember the match which Pepe (a goalie) totally out-played Di Santo (a striker). I was like, "What was that?"

This must be an absolute wind up. We have kept 15 clean sheets this season!

Reina would leave Liverpool for no other club than barcelona in my view and we will now need two new goalkeeprs.

However given Rodgers main transfer dealings to date allen sturridge couthino we have the best manager possible in place to do this.

GET REAL

Agree0 Disagree0

Pepe is replaceable. I would love to see foster from west brom take his place!

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't believe what people are saying here. Want to go back to the days of Dudek or westerveld? For me Pepe is best in the prem. He's good on crosses, has great positional sense (so good that it makes most of what he does look simple). Great shot stopper but its his distribution which sets him apart. Pepe has often collected a ball and then created an opportunity before most goalkeepers have even thought about releasing the ball! We can't afford to lose 2 great players and characters from the squad in one summer. If Pepe wants to leave we should thank him for his service and move on. Otherwise we should sign him up for another 6 years!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Reina has not been at his best but he has still been very good and that shows what a class act the man is we should go all out on keeping him here and if not thank him for the many times he has won us games. 15 points a season a good goalie gets you I would say 20 in his case he has been class from the minute he arrived.
Thanks peep true legend ynwa

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Pepe's has been great the second half of this season he's returned closer to his own usual high standards. He's still superb and hopefully he'll stay.

Distribution - hardly any keeper better than him.

Alex McCarthy - how long has he even been Reading's No 1 wasn't Federici their No 1 until he got injured & lost form. 15 saves against us & most of them were straight at him, he may be good but come on don't fool yourself he's a million miles off replacing Pepe!

Hi Ed's, I heard a while back that we were linked to Mauro Icardi of Sampdoria. Are we still interested in him (if we ever were).
This is my first post so go easy.
Great site btw, been following for a couple of years. {Ed002's Note - Sampdoria's Mauro Icardi has been subject to interest from Monaco, Chelsea, Napoli, Fluminense, Liverpool and Manchester City. However, it looks like the player's preferred move to Inter beckons for the summer if they can put a proposal together that suits Sampdoria - and that will include some part ownership type transactions. Perhaps Napoli will push again.}

I really think Oscar torres of athletico Madrid is in the same mould as isco always wanting the ball, composed and really creative, I pray we sign him now before he goes out of our price range he's great. Would cost under 10m. {Ed002's Note - Chelsea enquired after Oliver Torres in June 2012 but Manchester City and Santos have made recent enquiries.}

Believable19 Unbelievable3

Surely atletico wouldn't let a gem like him go? I'd have thought staying put would be best for his development

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry as the ed pointed out its oliver not oscar torres, and due to the Spanish financial problem young Spanish gems such as oliver torres, isco or gerard deulofeu are in reach of many clubs.

Hello Eds,
any interest in ishak belfodil?
It is widely being reported in the Italian Media. {Ed002's Note - Belfodil was subject to a bid from Juventus in January and has been a player Spurs, Napoli, Liverpool, Lyon, Arsenal and Fulham have watched this season.}

Can anyone tell me what happended to that rumour about possible investment into the club from Qatari company called Ooredoo. Is there someone who has more info about that? {Ed002's Note - Try the search function. It was done to death.}

Believable18 Unbelievable4

The link with Ooredoo is for a £20m sponsorship deal which would see them supplant Standard Chartered Bank as holders of the football clubs shirt sponsorship rights.
The club invited few firms to tender, not just the Qatari telecom, and I guess the club board would not have been too happy that the Qataris blabbed about it all over the media. most likely nothing will come of it.

Hi Eds,
What are the chances of Liverpool buying Sanchez and keeping Suarez? Also if Sanchez was to come in would you expect Downing to leave and where would he go?
Cheers Wez {Ed002's Note - I would think there would be no chance.}

Downing will stay
