Liverpool FC will look to grab a couple of Uk & Ireland born bargains from relegated sides for next season. Blackpools Matt Gilks, Birminghams Scott Dann, Blackburns Phil Jones, Wigans James McCarthy, Blackpools Charlie Adam, Wolves Steven Fletcher. I think these players all have a lot of promise and would boost the depth in the squad.

18 May 2011 22:58:57
Hey Ed.

As you probably know, it is rumoured that we're after 3 wingers, who they are remains a mystery but out of these we've been linked with which 3 would you sign if it was up to you at out of:

Marveaux, Payet, Perroti, Hazard, Mata, Young, Downing, Marin and Munain.

Thanks Ed.

Double B

1 Defensive Midfielder to be bid for, rumoured top targets - Arturo Vidal, Javi Martinez or Ever Banega

18 May 2011 22:10:51
What a goal by Falcao imagine him with Suarez. Do you think he is being watch by Liverpool as another stiker we need a out and out goal poucher with Suarez approach play Carrolls ariel abilty and strength to hold up the ball. What you think Editors????

Can you please tell me too. Who is most likely out of the hundreda of targets do you think we will approach from what you have heard or anyone else who is being realistic. . .

Thanks MarkoLFC85

I would rather him than Carroll. {Ed002's Note - I expect that the team will want to stay together and take a shot at the Champions League.}

18 May 2011 22:08:16
Liverpool are apparently in juan Manuel Vargas? You heard anything ed? Great site keep up the hard work.

Carlito c {Ed002's Note - I am aware that there is interest in Vargas - but it rather clashes with the Eden Hazard and Mata deals, plus Marveaux. Liverpool have obviously decided to monopolize the left wing market.}

18 May 2011 21:59:02
Hi ed thankyou for your prompt answers all the time, I do have a question about transfers as you know we have officially put a bid in for hazard for 20 mill, ut he has said he would like to play for arsenal would that be a stumbling blockfor lfc as you know lille want 17 mill. for him. what do you think?

hibsylfc {Ed002's Note - I really don't know of any official 20M bid for Eden Hazard. sorry.}

18 May 2011 21:54:54
From a source I have liverpool have got marveaux on a pre contract agreement

18 May 2011 21:51:31
Ed , what are the chances of us getting HULK do you reckon, ino hes just signed a new contract but that might just mean that they can get more for him if they wish to sell him in the summer ! ! {Ed002's Note - Personally the chances are very slim. I suspect the team will want to stay together and take a serious shot at at least making it through the Group Stages of the Champions League. Could they repeat 2003 and 2004? What would be the point in leaving now?}

18 May 2011 21:41:24
Ed do u reckon we could of been watching the lb perea for benfica and the midfielder Alan for braga both have impressed me whenever I have watched them play {Ed002's Note - Both clubs will have been scrutinised at length this year by representatives of all major European sides including Liverpool. It would be guesswork to figure out any individual names of interest.}

18 May 2011 21:32:14
I know no1 will believe me but thought i might as well say it, i saw rumors linking us with james milner and as off this time, there is nothing in that, i actually know hes agent, not hes best mate but i know him, he said theres nothing into and him and most of the city players are still thrilled about champions league football :)

great site lads :)

18 May 2011 21:21:30
just a small rumour guys , been lookin on the net for any info about transfers and there seems to be a lot of reports about us starting talks with lille about eden hazard .like i say don't shoot the messenger just tryin to save you all time lookin about yourselfs .great site by the way ed.

Liverpool to re-sign huddersfields lee peltier, he scored tonight so he must be good, why did we let him go.

18 May 2011 21:13:10
With the Aquaman situation, has his loan at Juve now finished? And if Juve aren't interested in the price, does that mean he's back at Liverpool? If so, does that make him available for this weekend's match, or would he just be training with the squad? Whilst his agent will be looking for clubs for him to move to? Thanks Eds, you're doing a great job by the way. {Ed002's Note - No, he is loan until the end of the season, the May 15 date was a dealine for Juve to agree the original deal. It allows Liverpool to sell elsewhere. I suspect he will end up in Juventus still.}

18 May 2011 21:03:10
ed- have we been linked with sturridge recently as he wants first team football? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any links. Only one club (Fenerbahce) have approached Chelsea to my knowledge and I appreciate Bolton may want to talk to Chelsea, but the player is keen to return. There will be more opportunities at Chelsea next season but maybe not enough. I figure Liverpool could offer him no more in terms of a guarantee than Chelsea.}

18 May 2011 20:50:05
Ed001, We are interested in Falcao and we are watching him tonight. We have spoken to his reps too but nothing more than that.

18 May 2011 20:40:55
Ed do you think we'll sign any players? who do you think we'll sign? I know you spend all your time working hard on this site without pay but I wanted to know who we might sign and i can't be bothered to read the whole pages. With all of the top six teams spending this summer I don't think we'll make the Champions league, what do you think? when do you think we are likely to win the premier league? I am sick of all theses mancs saying we have never won the prem league. When do you think we'll get a new stadium ed? or when will Anfield be modified to a 90k seater? now that KK is back do we have a btter chance of attracting good players? how long do you think KK will stay for ed? KK, Bob Paisley and Shanks are all better managers than Alex Ferguson. Ed do you think if we win the prem league do you think Alex Ferguson will retire because he is not the best manager in the league any more? Thanks.

Liverpool looking at stuart Dallas from crusaders fc in northern ireland . . Pls trust me lads lol

18 May 2011 20:31:01
There has been many rumours circulating today and i believe that some do have some basis.

Mata - Rumours today that we have been in contact with Valencia who have told us start bidding at around £24M according to my source. We don't have an endless pot of money and i think we will be priced out of a deal if a massive bidding war starts. I think he would join but i don't think we will get the chance to sign him if a Real Madrid or man City become involved.

Aguero - We don't need him, we can't afford him and he wants Champions League football. We won't sign him!

Hazard - My source says he has offers from Real Madrid, Lyon, AC Milan, Inter and a couple of un named english clubs, and one other from Spain. If we are one of those i don't know but the rumours today suggest we are one of them. A bid of around £20M+ will persuade Lille. If we are one of those two english clubs he could be persuaded by first team football but don't hold your breath.

Cahill - He has a choice of Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd and Spurs according to my source but Bolton won't budge on the £22M asking price. Even if we get a bid accepted i think he would prefer a club with Champions league football.

Friedel - will certainly leave Villa at the end of his contract but doesn't want to be second choice anywhere. I think one of the promoted clubs will be where he ends up, not at Anfield.

Baines - Everton don't wnt to sell to anyone, let alone us so don't expect him to move to anywhere unless someone stupid enough to pay ridiculous money comes in for him. Open to a move but willing to stay at Everton.

Enrique - personally i don't rate him but if KK does then i won't argue. Newcastle are unhappy with the way Carroll left and arn't in the mood to do business with us unless silly money is put on the table.

As i said we don't have a endless pit of money like City so i wouldn't expect any more than 3 or 4 at the most to arrive. I think there will be a marquee signing, likely to be winger, but i don't know who and niether does my source this early in the transfer season.

Hope this is helpful and clears up a lot of confusion about our summer activity.

PJ

{Ed001's Note - yes, apparently we do, not sure who we are watching but I would prefer Falcao myself.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I agree Ed001! Falcao looks like a real good 'un. Has scored a shed-load of goals in the Europa league, and 16 league goals as well. He isn't a kick in the a**e off a goal per game ratio! ! Scored 41 in his first 50 games for Porto! And as I type this he just made the breakthrough in the Europa Final, that's 38 for the season. . apparently! ! Great header of the ball!

Ed are we interested in shinji kagawa

Maybe I'm a moran but what about Cameron Jerome as cover up front for Big Andy. Great pace, strength, and bags of potential in my opinion once he figures out how to score. Remember that the knock on Torres was his inability to finish when at Atletico. Probably wouldn't cost much. Hit me with your best shots.

yeah your right you are a moran, i think we shud really enquire about hulk from porto and play a front 3 when going foward with suarez an hulk covering the wings whrn defending like chelsea do, any thoughts ed?? {Ed002's Note - None. Hulk is aked about a lot, nothing will change.}

18 May 2011 20:21:22
Ed do we have anyone in Dublin watching the Europa league final? Would love to see hulk come to Liverpool! Not only would he b brilliant in the PL, I imagine he would also sell a lot of shirts! {Ed001's Note - yes, apparently we do, not sure who we are watching but I would prefer Falcao myself.}

I thought Liverpool were looking at there CB Rolando Ed is that true? i would love it if we signed one of Hulk or Falcao. Pops {Ed001's Note - it is certainly possible we are looking at him. It is possible we are looking at all 3 or even more. No one that knows for sure is talking these days, which is why we have so many wild theories flying around.}

Young/ Mata (depends who we choose from)
Parker

Ed on twitter its saying we have made contact with Valencia about Mata and Blackburn for Jones this week? I know its probably nothing but i was just wondering if you had heard anything or not? {Ed002's Note - Please can you take the time to read the other posts.}

would like lfc to sign one of porto's hulk or falcao. ed are any of these realistic targets if so do you think we will get one. {Ed002's Note - I don't think either are realistic targets at this time. Hulk has just signed a new deal and neither would want to sit on the bench at Liverpool.}

Liverpool to make a statement about Juan Mata on the website this evening Kelly Cates has just let it slip on radio 5.

I somehow doubt kelly Cates would let slip such a big announcement. I think her father would not be best pleased and she may find herself grounded (Ha Ha)

Ed002 the hazard rumours are not old recycling , its the press just finding out what i already knew yesterday , i know u think theres no chance of signing him but the club have been in talks with lille and want to sign hazard again as i said yesterday its up to him he has options , but won't be played at real and i think hes got more chance of winning silverware with us next season instead of arsenal.

Just a selection of rumours I've heard all.

Hazard = Wants Arsenal or Serie A, doesn't think he will start in Madrid.
Initial bid placed of £20 million but down to the player, he will have a lot of choice
no doubt.

Cahill = Agent waiting for bigger payday, were in driving seat until Man City came in and
pushed price up to £20milliion upwards.

Mata = Said he wants move to 'bigger' club, Valencia say bids to start at 22.5million.
Lack of CL football again a factor by the looks.

Aguero = Told to come back in the summer, again lots of choice
but a chance. Apparently refers to Real Madrid as "poison". Buyout price not an issue,
tax and wages etc

Sorry ! I meant to ask is Ed001 is in the know about Mata ! And BTW Ed do you mean Apparently you are in the know or apparently she is the cat's mother ! Cheers !
{Ed002's Note - The Mata story is, as far as I know, as follows: Valencia may be preparing for life after Mata by lining up Elia as a replacement. Although there is some interest from Liverpool and it would not be entirely out of the question that the club could move for the player, I suspect he may end up elsewhere with interest being shown by Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and I suspect Barcelona will become interested at some point. If Barcelona do show their hand I expect he could move there, if not Manchester City are reportedly heading the queue now. We are being asked to validate something posted on a fan website (Anfield Road or whatever) and have no way of doing that. Perhaps you should ask them to substantiate their claims.}

With all this talk about Mata and Hazard, have there been developments in any of these transfers that you know of ed's? Any genuine meetings with DC? Who would you rate as the favourite to join out of these two? {Ed002's Note - {Ed002's Note - Valencia may be preparing for life after Mata by lining up Elia as a replacement. Hazard signed a new contract with Lille and if he cannot get a move that suits him (Barcelona and Real Madrid were his preference) then he could stay and play in the Champions League next year. Juventus are very keen but cannot offer football at the highest level right now. Arsenal, Liverpool, Juventus, Real Madrid, Spurs and Barcelona have shown interest or admiration for the player. I would not be surprised to see Manchester United throw their hat in to the ring as well. If he does move and I was pushed for an answer, I think he could end up in Italy, possibly at Inter. The rumours today seem to be little more than the recycling of the story of Damian Comolli asking to be kept informed of any movements for teh player and this is several weeks old. Talk of a bid seem wide of the mark right now, but you never know what may happen.}

18 May 2011 17:38:50
Ed all this talk about Juan Mata agreeing to sign for us, and Comolli meeting his agent at Anfield yesterday.

I've been informed that we are in advanced disscussions with valencia over Mata, his agent met D.C this morning. We are also interested in Hazard but no bid has been made M.C

The Fields Of Anfield Road group have said:"Juan Mata: the third player to have agreed terms to a summer move; as reported earlier."
So does this mean we can sign him june 1st Ed?
Great site by the way {Ed001's Note - if true it means he can sign immediately, the only thing that can't actually be complete right now is the transfer of registration and the signing of the final contract. Until then he would be on a pre-contract agreement with penalties if he pulled out of the deal.} so are we gona sign hum then ed? {Ed001's Note - we are certainly trying to sign him, I doubt if the deal has been done yet though.}

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

City are keen on signing him, i cannot see Juan Mata rejecting City over us. Unless he is a Liverpool fan . . ?

18 May 2011 16:46:09
GK- Liverpool will sign Brad Friedal as backup to Pepe Reina, it's done deal.

DF- Jose Enrique remains a high target with £12m likely to prize him away from Newcastle however Aly Cissokho of Lyon and Gael Clichy are of interest to Kenny Dalglish. Leighton Baines won't be joining Liverpool. Phil Jones and Simon Kjaer remain possibilities.

MF- Top priorities are a couple of wingers. Ashley Young is a strong possibility between £17-20m. Mata is unlikely as is Eden Hazard who is keen on a move to Italy. Hamit Altintop is another target but face competition from Real Madrid but a move for Stewart Dowing is not off the cards. Arda Turan likely to move to Atletico. In the middle of the park Scott Parker could move to Anfield but Arsenal, Spurs and Man City also interested. Cristian Eriksen won't be joining Liverpool this summer expect him to remain with Ajax.

ST- Sergio Aguero would cost around £35m but I would doubt Liverpool would make a move more likely Dalglish will opt for someone like Falcao or Vucinic.

18 May 2011 16:16:10
Ed, is this true, weve been in contact over Mata? And Official enquiries about Hazard?

Wow, I know were on the up and improving but Mata and Hazard? That would be a massive statement of intent from the owners and from KK. Two truly great wide players, Mata can play upfront aswell.
If we are in for these two, and also Young, we would have the best wide players in the league, followed with a strong set of forwards.
The added value of the above adds up farely well, around £70-80m, if we get £50-60m off owners and can generate £20m from sales then it all fits, im liking the sounds of all this.

Ed, what news have you heard on the grapevine about the above and any other moves?

Anfield Andy

{Ed006's Note - I don't think Hazard really knows what he wants himself as I believe he said that he would play in Italy, Spain or England and has no preference. I don't think that we will get Hazard though. I have heard that Mata wants the move to a bigger club and we will have to bid around £22.5m in order to have a chance of signing him. I have heard that Aguero wants to leave and that we are interested but we here that every 6 months.}

Anyone heard of this Alex O'Hanlon?

{Ed006's Note - New academy signing I believe. I boyhood Manchester United fan, Kenny has wanted him since he joined the academy.}

The Fields Of Anfield Road group have said:"Juan Mata: the third player to have agreed terms to a summer move; as reported earlier."
So does this mean we can sign him june 1st Ed?
Great site by the way {Ed001's Note - if true it means he can sign immediately, the only thing that can't actually be complete right now is the transfer of registration and the signing of the final contract. Until then he would be on a pre-contract agreement with penalties if he pulled out of the deal.} so are we gona sign hum then ed? {Ed001's Note - we are certainly trying to sign him, I doubt if the deal has been done yet though.}

This was taken from the transfer tavern ed's, just wondering have you heard anything on it??
Al
Kenny Dalglish is looking to make QPR s Moroccan international Adel Taarabt his first summer signing, and the Metro has reported that the Scot will use Joe Cole as bait in order to get his man.

The former Spurs youngster has been instrumental in helping QPR regain promotion back to the Premier League with 19 goals and 16 assists. The Championship player of the year has also been rumoured to have caught the eye of Chelsea and Arsenal.

Joe Cole and his family have failed to settle on Merseyside since moving away from the capital after the Englishman s free transfer from Chelsea and are eager for a return to London. One stumbling block could be Cole s current reported wage of £90,000 a week, however Liverpool s owners are keen to splash the cash and could offer the former West Ham man a lump sum payoff to facilitate his move to QPR.

Ashley Young has insisted he is in no rush to seek a move from Aston Villa, despite reports linking him with a summer move to Manchester United or Liverpool.

Young has been one of Villa's most impressive performers in what has been a season of frustration for Gerard Houllier's side. It was only on Sunday that Villa secured their place in the Premier League and with safety sealed, the club can now look at planning for next term.

England international winger Young has earned admiring glances from within England and abroad and while the link with Liverpool has been mooted for some time, it has been claimed United are also keeping tabs on the situation.

Young will discuss his future with the club at the end of the season but is not in any rush to make a decision.

"I have always said at the end of the season I will speak to the manager and the chairman, " Young told Sky Sports News.

"I will give 100% on the pitch and when it comes to the end of the season I will sit down and take it from there.

"There is a lot of speculation around in the football world and that is how it has been for the last few weeks. I have just got to concentrate on Aston Villa and keep doing well for the club."

Any truth in the rumour of Banega making it across from Spain? I know Valencia aren't in as much trouble financially as they were but heard that they need cash to build the squad and reckon they'll get £15M for him.

That story is not, as you put it, according to liverpoolfc.tv. It is from an external newspaper story. If you look at the bottom it quite clearly states. .

There are rumours around that agent of charlie adam was

at melwood again. it was his second visit duing the

month

ED what is current situation concearning adam ? {Ed001's Note - you mean Kenny Moyes? He is a regular visitor anyway, hence why we moved for Adam in January, because he revealed a few bits of supposedly confidential pieces in Adam's contract. That is why Karl Oyston was so angry he refused to deal with either us or Villa, Moyes said far too much. Adam will be moving on in the summer, but it is by no means certain where he will go, he has made preparation to move out of the area though, which suggests a move to us is by no means certain, he would not have to move to join us.}

18 May 2011 13:36:50
I'm not saying it will happen, in fact it probably won't, but LFC are VERY interested in Aguero. We are definitely sniffing around and he is being discussed by the men that count at LFC. What I can guarantee is that if Atletico Madrid agree and Kun is willing to move to Anfield then the owners will provide the £ for him. This comes from very deep inside the club.

18 May 2011 13:32:23
My mate's girlfriend who is PA to the owners of QPR tells me that Joe Cole will be moving to them as they look to stay up next season. Maybe a sweetner for Taarabt?!

18 May 2011 13:30:39
Lets buy the Ba from west-ham. They won't need him in the first-division. He will be a prefect replacement for Carrol at £10m.

Also get Scot Parker and get ride of Steven Gerrard. That deal would save liverpool millions.

18 May 2011 13:30:07
Hey eds super site keep up good work!
jus quick question as regard turan i no at madrid were in talks to sign him but havin heard any news jus wondered since he came out a said would love to play for liverpool an th echap fits the bill of everything the oweners want ! why in hell havin we tried to sign this lad he is quality! !
gaffer {Ed002's Note - Arda Turan looks Atletico Madrid bound. Talks have been going on for a while and he will move this summer. Dortmund apparently, remain interested but Villarreal have dropped any interest that they had. Spurs have dipped their toe in the water over the player and I suspect Valencia are keeping a watchful eye on matters. I am surprised that Liverpool have not followed up the interest they previously had in the player.}

STURRIDGE IS THE BOY ;) £5million would be plenty :D BARGAIN!
= = = = = = =
I think Sturridge would cost more like £12 million, mate. I do like Sturridge, but at £12 million, I wouldn't say he's a bargain.

-Red Socks {Ed002's Note - I think it would take a lot of money for Chelsea to sell.}

18 May 2011 13:16:05
I hope you are right as a 3rd striker and if under £5m this would be good business. However I thought anelka was offered as part of the torres deal and lfc refused. Is that right eds?

18 May 2011 13:14:38
So NESV want to buy young, up and coming players, with room to improve and premier league experience that don't cost too much so they can sell them at a profit in the future. . . Why isn't DANIEL STURRIDGE being targeted?? This boy is top quality and with suarez cutting in from the left with his right boot and sturridge cutting in from the right with his left boot and the big man carroll in the middle we would have without a doubt one of the most agressive front 3's in world football! !Even if you think KUYT would be better on the right you have to admit that STURRIDGE would make an exceptional squad player and is well know as an impact substitute. What do you think?? forget your AGUERO, FORLAN, GOMEZ and SHANE LONG! STURRIDGE IS THE BOY ;) £5million would be plenty :D BARGAIN! ! {Ed002's Note - I think £5M is rather far off the mark.}

18 May 2011 13:13:48
I was reading that Arsenal are going to cash in on Andrey Arshavin . I think he could be a good buy for Liverpool. Proven in front of goal and has Premiership experience.

18 May 2011 13:13:18
Ed could you rate the possibility of these players coming to Anfield in the summer :)

Mata
Marin
A.Johnson
A.Young
D.Perotti

Cheers mate I appreciate it ! {Ed002's Note - 3, 3, 3, 6, 6.}

18 May 2011 13:12:18
Widemen - Hazard/ Mata/ Young

Centre half - Cahill/ P.Jones

Left back - Coentrao/ Enrique

One from each of these. That's your lot for big signings (may bring a few more cheap younger players ie. shane long)

All this Aguero talk is rubbish. .45mil? No chance seeing as we've spent 55 mil on carroll and suarez.

End of.

Eds I have a source (I don't know how reliable) that suggests we are after, wait for it, Stuart Downing and Cesc Fabregas. He says Barca will not Pay the asking price and Fabregas has finally now become convinced Arsenal do not have the steel to challenge after giving it one last go this season.

Like I said don't know how much legs this has but have any Eds heard this from their contacts?

ALB {Ed002's Note - I have heard nothing, sorry.}

Hi eds, was just wondering if there's any chance we could be chasing rolando from porto? From what ive seen he looks a quality player. Thanks very much

18 May 2011 13:04:30
I have it from a very reliable source that NO big name striker will be brought in this summer. After splashing out almost £60m on young strikers in Jan the owners DC and KK see Carroll and Saurez as the strike partnership for the club for the next 5-10years.

A new striker will be signed to replace the out going Ngog but will be a lot more low key than the DREAMERS on here would have you believe. My contact says 3 players top the list, A championship player, Cartlon Cole and. . . The one that shocked me Gary Hooper of Celtic (formly Sc**thrope).

18 May 2011 12:38:24
RE: Mata or Hazard

For me, Mata all day long.
I don't want Hazard anywhere near this team. Regardless of his talent, if a player doesn't want to come LFC, he can bugger off.

And you know what, I'm really be surprised to hear of our interest in this kid. Didn't Kenny say that the players who matter, those who want to play for this club, should be the ones we pursue?
If that's the case, why the hell this interest in Hazard?

Everything I've heard points to NO interest on this kid's part in LFC. So why the hell are trying out for him, huh?
I really won't be pleased should this player sign.
Fo goodness' sake! People say we should do all we can to flog Aquilani as he don't wanna be here, yet these very people are clamouring for a kid who's stated time and again for the world to know that he's NOT interested in LFC.

Would you be happy cheering for someone who you know deep down in your heart would rather be elsewhere than Anfield? I certainly won't.
As much as Hazard's a good, if he doesn't want us, I don't want him, period!

We're a club in transition. Now more than ever, it's crucial that we have people who want and/ are happy to be here; people who see, share and are prepared to fight for, the vision of this team.

Players like Suarez (Turan would've been immense).
Mata's a world class lad who I'm sure won't be fantasizing about Arsenal, Madrid and Barca whilst donning our red.
So I really, really hope ed002 isn't wrong and Hazard to LFC doesn't happen.

Lastly, ed, what's the current situation with Matuidi? Rumour has it that we've had a bid rejected for him.

Nicholas Kudrow {Ed002's Note - I don't know of a bid but there have been discussions and Roma are circling.}

18 May 2011 12:50:07
Not a rumour but I recently read the four four two magazine, where comoli spoke about andy carrol being there top summer target, this was in fact even with torres and surez being at the club, the only reason they bought carrol january is because torres leaving, this leads me to believe a top class striker will be bought in the summer, read the magazine it clearly states they wanted 3 top strikers by comoli.

18 May 2011 12:49:44
I have a friend who works for adidas and he visits teams that are sponsored by adidas (amazing job, on a graduate scheme). On a visit to Chelsea he backroom staff talking about a Chelsea clearout, and the Liverpool had enquired as to the availability of Florent Malouda. Not interested in this guy KK stay clear.

18 May 2011 12:21:29
Forget this Aguero rubbish (we missed the boat when Rafa wanted him but Parry did not deliver). KK is not going to blow a huge proportion of his transfer budget on 1 player. For about £35m we could really transform our wide areas. Targets are likely to be Young (£13-15m), Honda (£13-15m), Mata (£25m), Hazard (£22m), Lavezzi (£18-20m) and Payet (15m) . Any two of these together with the free signing of Marveaux would be perfect. Reality Red

Liverpool have apparently made a formal approach to sign Eden Hazard according to Liverpoolfc.tv
Any truth in these rumours Ed?

Scouser4Life {Ed002's Note - There is much early discussion and abuse of me related to this. There does not seem to be anything new in this story. Regular readers will recall much discussion when Damien Comolli attended a couple of games to look at Gervinho and Hazard and said, to CanalPlus, that he admired the player. At that time and being a guest of Lille he asked to be kept informed of the situation, and again we discussed that on this forum - as I imagine others did elsewhere. I think it is probably the re-use of an old story follwing articles linking Spurs with the player and the Liverpool like all clubs will often ask agents and clubs to let them know if a player becomes available. There is nothing to say to me that anything has changed since Comolli previously said he "admired" the player. I have not changed my mind and would not do so based on anything such as this. Otherwise, I would be saying all 400 players linked with Liverpool would be joining this summer and I would be working for KopTalk.}

18 May 2011 12:07:39
Still being told the 3rd striker will be forlan? It seems suarez and carroll will be first choice (due to outlay), so forlan would be ideal, no language barrier, if called upon forlan and suarez can talk in their native tongue or english? the main part is they know each others game, they know each others movement which dalglish likes! also the price? the tag on forlan is no where near what people are posting!

18 May 2011 11:54:10
Not a rumour, but thoughts of mine as how we could improve. . . would like the ED's thoughts thanks. . and the thoughts of my fellow Liverpool supporters.

OUT: Jovanovic, Poulsen, Darby, Jones, Konchesky, Insua, Deggen, El Zhar, Aurelio and Kyriagkos.

Loaned out: Pacheco, N'Gog. Both have the potential just needs it fine tuning with regular 1st team football.

One more season(last chance saloon): Cole, Maxi and Aquilani. Unless serious decent bids are made.(Yes I know, valuation, age and wage).

A Wish List(But nothing silly or out of our means):
1) Arda Turan: Similar to Suarez in size and skill, but can play either wing and behind the striker. Very tricky with the ball. Kenny apparently is a fan, which I hope he is. 24yrs old at Galatasaray.

2) Martin Olsson: 23yrs old at Blackburn Rovers. Started at left back, but now plays more advanced. Would be ideal in Liverpool's formation. Premiership proven, even tho in a struggling team.
People post on here worrying about the left back situation. Pause take time out to look at the squad and what Kenny is trying to do. We have Wilson, Robinson. Kelly, Johnson and Flanagan have played there, and if needs must Agger and Carragher. See it as making our defense versatile and not a problem area.

3) Phil Jones 20yrs old at Blackburn Rovers. Another versatile player with a bright future. Plays at center half or in midfield. Tenacious in the tackle. Has premier league experience.

4) Long Shot. . . Ashley Young. Either flank or just behind the forwards. Would be a world beater if he controlled his ego and didn't believe his own hype.(LIVERPOOL F.C is a team not a one man band)

5) Another striker, personally I rate Falcao at Porto. Looks good in the air and on the floor with the ball at his feet. Only problem is everyone round Europe will be sniffing round him.

Whoever we bring in need to be prepared that they might not play week in week out.

Slicky4. Y.N.W.A

Great site as always Ed's, only found this a few weeks ago and have been on here every day checking on news (although some of it is a little absurd)!

I think Liverpool are going to sign the following players: Cahill from Bolton to add a solid presence to our defence; Ashley Young and Stewart Downing from Villa to provide some creativity on the wings and create competition with the likes of Kuyt, Suarez and Maxi; I'd like to see Baines come as he is a solid left back with an excellent delivery and a wicked free kick although I feel due to an extortionate asking price we will go for Enrique; I would also like to see Mata to provide solid competition for Gerrard.

I think Mata could be the big signing but if other teams come in for him then we go down the pecking order sadly. Hazard would be amazing but I think he is going elsewhere, maybe Arsenal if they are willing to spend a lot of money. Adam Johnson would be a great signing but I think Man City will be unwilling to let him leave to us as they have the capabilities to let him stay and run his contract down due to their financial power!

Finally, I think the Liverpool squad next year will be:

GK - Reina/ Friedel/ Gulasci

DR - Kelly/ Johnson/ Flanagan
DC - Agger/ Carra/ Ayala
DC - Cahill/ Skrtel
DL - Enrique(Baines)/ Robinson/ Insua

MC - Lucas/ Spearing
MC - Meireles/ Shelvey
AMC - Gerrard/ Mata

AMR - Young/ Kuyt
AML - Downing/ Maxi

ST - Suarez/ Carroll/ N'Gog

I've heard of some interest in bringing Anelka back to anfield. Apparently he believes he'll get more first team chances over Suarez and Caroll than he'll get ahead of Drogba and Torres should they both still be at Chelsea next season. Maybe one of the eds can clear this up? Also, are we really interested in Brad Friedel? Surely too old for the kind of squad we're looking for. {Ed001's Note - Friedel yes but I have heard of no interest in Anelka.}

Confirmation that both Scott Parker, Ashley Young and 1 other player has agreed terms with Liverpool Young's transfer fee is also agreed. This comes from the fields of anfield road. These people have always been 99.9% accurate lets hope this is true (yn)

Not sure if this is the case although i may be wrong? as it stands at the moment spurs appear to have wrapped up deals for both parker and marin? a very well known captain who is still associated with the club and who at times appears on ssn voicing his comments has also revealed that spurs are stealing a march on a couple of sought after players from abroad, i did quiz the form plyr into giving me a clues! the only clue being that one player being looked at has the same name of a former player of ours who now drives a black cab? the only player that would mean would be hazard? i went on to mention the overflow of midfield players at spurs, now he mentioned bentley, gds, o'hara & palacios would be shown the door and for any interested parties this may be of some interest? they will not advertise BUT if any good offers and i mean GOOD offers spurs will listen for lennon and huddlestone!

We were discussing potential transfers on Sky Sports Revista de la Liga last night, with the latest on the likes of Kun Aguero, Karim Benzema, De Gea, Juan Mata and Osvaldo; andI've been tweeting a few details about those players over the past 24 hours; so there's probably a need to recap and clarify a few things as lots of people have started asking questions and more than a couple have been jumping to conclusions. .

Karim Benzema: The striker has told Real Madrid that he wants to stay and fight for a place in the first team next season. Don't read any more into it than that. Nobody is saying that this means he is definitely staying, just as we should not assume he's leaving.

Kun Aguero: He has not submitted a formal transfer request to Atletico Madrid; there is no such thing as a formal request in the Spanish contract system. It has been reported that he has told the club he wants to leave, but the official line is that he is happy to stay until 2014.

At the moment, Real Madrid feel that they are in pole position to sign Aguero, despite the fact that Atletico would prefer not to sell to their neighbours and rivals. However, as its stands, Real Madrid are the only club that have indicated they are willing to meet Aguero's 45 million buyout clause. {Ed002's Note - That is because the buyout clause only applies to Spanish clubs. The price remains the same for other clubs and talks have been held with several.}

Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are amongst the clubs who are admirers of Aguero, but his wages would be a problem for the last two aforementioned clubs. A lot of Liverpool fans have been asking how likely a move to Anfield is; but considering his wages and the competition for his signature, as I have said in the past, the chances of Kun Aguero signing for Liverpool are slim.
{Ed002's Note - Strange he does not mention Juventus.}

Osvaldo: There are several clubs eyeing the Espanyol striker including Spurs, Fulham, Everton, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla and at this moment in time, Tottenham are slight favourites. However, nothing has been agreed, no deal done, and all of that could change.

I hope the eds are right that we could possibly sign either mata or hazard as I think either would be a great addition to our squad personally I would have mata.
Could I also ask do u think we could move for huntelaar with the suarez link???
Thanx 4 keepin the site up to date eds it's a daily read 4 me.
Manclfcfan {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest in Huntelaar aside from Spurs and Napoli. I don't see a move to Liverpool on the cards.}

Where does these people get the idea that Liverpool are gonna spend a massive amount on 1 player? please. We are finally being run-well again, and KK & DC know that there are players out there in europe available for knock down prices who are still young. If we do sign someone for a fair amout of money I can see it being Mata of Valencia.

Players we should/ could be looking @ IMO-
Mata, Banega, Canales, Vargas, VanDerWiel, Perotti, Capel, Bojan, Coutinho, Boateng (brothers).

Add some these to the likes of Young & Cahill, we're left with a very competitive team.

Reina
Vargas Cahill Carragher VDWiel
Banega Gerrard
Mata Suarez Young

liverpool will sign shane long in the summer! this is due to his contract situation with it having only a year left as of this summer. i believe the fee will be around £5million and this fee has already been agreed. liverpool were considering connor wickham but after being told they would have to pay £15million for him they were put off. daglish has sent DC to watch them both a number of times this season

Hey Ed, after viewing the earlier post from the guy talking about the fields of anfield road post I went and checked it out. They do seem convinced that we will get Parker, Young, and someone else. I am not convinced we need Parker, but his experience will definitely help the CM. While our midfielders are good I felt in the absence of both Stevie and Meireles we were lacking a bit of leadership/ experience against Spurs. {Ed002's Note - Doesn't seem like a long-term solution does it.}

Liverpool to get Eden Hazard for 8 to 17 million ? youyr views ?

That's quite alot of room for error there, £8-£17mil??? I think he would cost in the region of £14mil, but i'm just guessing too.

Hi eds and fellow reds. .

Not a rumour, just wondering what you all think to Defoe coming to us due to his recent comments? Personally I think we should spend money on a decent winger with pace such as Ashley Young and a decent left back who can attack too (not sure if that's Enrique for me) and a couple of strong rotational players such as Charlie Adam (I think he would be great for us. .Alonso. esk! just wondering what you think?

{Ed002's Note - Defoe will certainly be available but at his age I think he will be looking for a regular start and I am not so sure Liverpool can give him that.}

18 May 2011 09:31:35
Rumours flying around Twitter (yes, I know. ) that Kenny has been talking to Leighton Baines about a move. If this is true then that means Everton has given LFC permission to talk to their player. ED, have you heard anything beyond what Twitter is saying?

Also, the Hazard offer seems to be poor journalism rather than fact at the moment.

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid I am not someone that follows Twitter, and I am afraid that I have heard nothing about Kenny Dalglish and Leighton Baines talking at all.}

{Ed002's Note - I think it is perfectly likely, as I have said, that there will be one surprise signing. I have suggested that could be Mata when pressed for an opinion. If it turns out to be Hazard then so be it, I will be wrong. It is absolutely impossible to get everything right and I appreciate that there are people like you hiding behind the anonymity of the internet who take every chance have a dig at the Editors. We make a great deal of effort to keep these pages running for you and to provide regular updates of the posts. You quite frankly don t deserve these efforts. In my opinion it is absolutely pathetic for you not to provide your e-mails or to even sign your posts. Please do ever ask for an opinion on this site.}

Great reply Ed! People need to get into their heads that transfers (targets) change. But as a side not I hope you're wrong and Hazard signs ed ;)

Corkpoolred

{Ed002's Note - I guess then it begs the question of Mata or Hazard? Who would you prefer as the surprise signing?}

Can anyone tell me when the transfer window opens please? {Ed002's Note - Each FA decides the date that their transfer window opens. In England and Wales it is after the last game of the season - but that only applies for transfers between clubs who are members of the same FA. There has been a real big fuss in France this year as the clubs want the transfer window to open after the last day of the season rather than their following the tradition of opening on the same day as the International window. The French are concerned that those nasty English clubs will come and take their best players and costs will be inflated. Some countries use the last game, some June 1 and some the international window date. For International transfers I think the window will open on July 1.}

I've just had a dig around to see if I could find anything on Eden Hazard.

All I've found is a website claiming that we're the first club to officially register an interest with Lille. However, it also states that Arsenal, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid are also interested. It says that we've only asked to be kept in the loop regarding any offers that are made.

Coupled with the fact that the player hinted at a move to Italy a couple of weeks back, I'd suggest that we're not in the driving seat for his signature and we probably never were. If Real make a bid, it's pretty much guaranteed that he'll move there.

My guess would be either Inter or Arsenal - but, I'm sure he'll want Champions League football next season. I definitely hope we're keeping an eye on his team-mate Gervinho, though.

Hey all and morning eds keep up the interesting work your all doing >.<

does anyone agree with me what if we sign Enrique it would be a big mistake im not saying he is a bad LB but their has to be better cheaper LB who would be interested in join us he's no spring chick either id like to see KK maybe try going for a cheaper option as we have cover for both left and right back with the coming of age of some of the youth lads and as for spending vast amounts of money we should be developing our kids and bring them thou and building a team around them gerrard and carra have not got that long left and we need to keep the spin of the team with local lads and don't go telling me our youth team is rubbish cause its just not true if we got into the uefa cup next season (which i hope we don't its not worth anything and just a waste of time) id like to see kk use the kids with the older ones on the bench sorry if i have rented on abit just wanted to no what you thought

Liverpool to sign Aguero for £50 milion pounds this Summer.
They will use the money they recieved from Chelsea for Torres. 100% going to happen. Remember the name.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Ed, I don't understand how an average football fan, and there are many in this site, cannot understand the logic of blowing 50 million and virtually all of the transfer money on a single player who is neither a regular for his country nor has played for any major club till date.

WE WILL NOT BUY AGUERO. PERIOD.

I don't know why people keep insulting their own intelligence by posting these ridiculous and baseless rumours.

Any sensible football fan should be able to see that we have two very GOOD and YOUNG forwards with us in an age where playing 1 striker up front is the norm.

Besides AGUERO is almost identical to Suarez as a player. Plus he will cost a fortune in transfer fees and wages.

I urge all people posting "AGUERO' favoured rumours to rise above mediocrity.

Hi

I'm friends with 'The fields of Anfield Road' on facebook and this is what they put as their status at 08.37 this morning -

We have confirmation that both Scott Parker, Ashley Young and 1 other player have agreed terms with the reds. We are still unsure who the other player is, but we have someone working on finding out. Ashley Young's transfer fee is also agreed.

Do they have any good sources??

Eds, why don't you make a page on facebook and get some followers, if would definitely increase hits on your site??

Tugger {Ed002's Note - I am afraid I don't know who they are and I have never used Facebook at all. I will mention it to Ed001 but I think it has been mentioned before.}

Hi,

I work in the sports media and i can say however much Liverpool offer for Hazard he WILL REJECT the move he will only move to a champions league club so Arsenal is his likely destination. Mata will be priced out of a move the new owners will not meet the valuation which is extremly high around the 25-30 million mark. Cahill will not move to Liverpool as Arsenal is his first choice, Ashley Young will move to man u again for european football, i can see liverpool buying average players again like Brunt and Jarvis and Downing although a massive club we cannot attract the top players as we are not involved in champ league. Also expect Enrique, Maveraux , Phil Jones

Raj {Ed002's Note - I am guessing you are an Arsenal fan Raj.}

Hey eds
any truth in the rummor liverpool have made a formal approach for hazzard ?

thanks {Ed002's Note - I refer to earlier answers.}

18 May 2011 08:34:49
Morning eds.

Just read about the approach for Eden Hazard. What does an approach actually mean? Do you think we can offer something attractive for the lad to sign?

Keenboy {Ed002's Note - Firstly it is best to not read too much in to every word written by a journalist - there are no hidden messages in the words at all. There also does not seem to be anything new in this story. Regular readers will recall much discussion when Damien Comolli attended a couple of games to look at Gervinho and Hazard and said, to CanalPlus, that he admired the player. At that time and being a guest of Lille he asked to be kept informed of the situation, and again we discussed that on this forum - as I imagine others did elsewhere. I think it is probably the re-use of an old story follwing articles linking Spurs with the player and the Liverpool like all clubs will often ask agents and clubs to let them know if a player becomes available. There is nothing to say to me that anything has changed since Comolli previously said he "admired" the player. I have not changed my mind and would not do so based on anything such as this. Otherwise, I would be saying all 400 players linked with Liverpool would be joining this summer and I would be working for KopTalk. Unless I hear anything else, this will need to become the standard answer for Hazard questions today as I have a busy day planned.}

Morning ed002. hope ur well. was just curious to your opinion on the hazard rumours. no doubt its just paper talk. does david maddock have any credibility usually? just think tho, hazard AND aguero, plus honda whos shirt sales will pay for them both :) ha

TomKop7 {Ed002's Note - I think it is probably the re-use of an old stoey as I am not aware of anything having changed. Comolli asked some weeks ago to be kept informed of any potential movements related to the sale of the player, and there is nothing unusual in that. Liverpool like all clubs will often ask agents and clubs to let them know if a player becomes available. There is nothing to say to me that anything has changed since Comolli previously said he "admired" the player. I don't know of anything that has changed. I have not changed my mind and would not do so based on anything such as this. Otherwise, I would be saying all 400 players linked with Liverpool would be joining this summer and I would be working for KopTalk. As for David Maddock, I had to look him up as I don't know him at all. He is the Mirror's man at the Shankle Gates so to speak. Glancing through a list of articles he has written I would guess that he is a Liverpool supporter. Certainly close to "the action". I am not going to hide behind my thought that there was always going to be a surprise signing, but I still can't see Hazard moving to Anfield.}

18 May 2011 08:17:57
Everyone has been saying we should sell Insua but we need a left back and Insua is a good player. At a young age he has plenty of time to improve. If we do sell Insua though I think we should buy Fabio Coentrao.

Morning Ed
According to the daily mirror we have made a formal approach for Eden Hazard. Now is this poor journalism by the mirror as they are just listening and reading rumour/ fan sites like yours or do you know if there is any truth in it?

I've read that one of the editors has always been under the impression that the transfer will not happen. Has he changed his mind?

RedDan {Ed002's Note - {Ed002's Note - I think it is probably creative journalism. My understanding is that Comolli asked some weeks ago to be kept informed of any potential sale of the player. I don't know of anything that has changed. I have not changed my mind and would not do so based on anything such as this. Otherwise, I would be saying all 400 players linked with Liverpool would be joining this summer and I would be working for KopTalk.}

great site ed. been reading reading for years. if u had a choice who would you choose among perotti and A. johnson on the left wing. does any of these look likely to join in the summer. thanks. please post in rumour section {Ed002's Note - Both are possible, and as I have have said before I think Perotti is a very good shout. Ed001 is a fan of Johnson, for me Perotti would do a great job. I recommend that we should keep an eye on Perotti who is interesting a number of clubs including Liverpool, Everton, Aston Villa and Spurs.}

Morning Ed's

I seemed to have read or heard somewhere that we were interested in a brazilian player called Diego Ribes or Rubes. I think he had a transfer from Juve to Wolfsburg (not 100% sure).

You Ed's heard anything on this ?

REDFORLIFE {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest in Diego at all. He has been in the news for walking out on Wolfburg and I guess would welcome a way out of the overly officious regime they have. He would certainly not come cheap.}

Hi eds U people keep on saying we have no chance of signing hazard. But today he was linked with us and only arsenal in the running with us having upper hand. Isn't this something u said about suarez in january and still we signed him. So it seems like u people don't know everything.

{Ed002's Note - I think it is perfectly likely, as I have said, that there will be one surprise signing. I have suggested that could be Mata when pressed for an opinion. Hey eds

I know some people on here will say the usuall that this is made up , but i heard the other day that pepe was impressed by dc plan to bring the young players through.Reina loves flanagan and robo because der attutides are spot on , he said he was sick of seeing good talent sold at the club. Hear we are looking at aiden mcgeady and young dutch player cabral (winger from feyenoord), young is 50/ 50 so i hear but plan b is perotti of sevilla.Defenders coming in seem to be upson and lugano as he is available for 4mill.The big signin according to my source is hulk 32mill is the fee.
This is what i heard from good source and remember my source in holland is normally spot on.

Over the last few weeks Kenny has been able to convinced Reina to stay at Liverpool. Reina has stated that he is prepared to leave the club unless he can see key improvement which will get the club back challenging for trophies. This means Kenny must be eyeing some very good players which have convinced Reina.
From where I stand the following players are very unlikely to join Liverpool;
Sanchez He is in huge demand from the top clubs in the world who will be prepared to pay insane amount of money to get his signature. Unfortunately clubs like Real Madrid, Barca, Man C and Chelsea can offer CL and large wages which doesn t help.
Cahill My mate is a huge Bolton fan and when he asked Cahill if he was to leave which club would be his ideal destination, he replied Arsenal has also be dream for him but is very happy at Bolton. I feel with will be a fight between Arsenal (his dream club) and Man C (who are able to provide very healthy wages)
Baines Everton will not be prepared to sell to their rivals on the cheap. The asking price which has been demanded will be too high for Liverpool and Man C have apparently already made an offer of 20m+.
Key players who could sign
Hazard At the moment it looks like Arsenal and Liverpool are preparing to fight it out. Liverpool feels that they have the upper hand because they can offer him a fast-track into the first team which may convince him to move to Liverpool despite not having a CL spot. Hazard has also stated that money is not important as much as regular game time.
Cissokho Lyon want allot of money for him but considering the lack of depth in the position Kenny is very tempted. I also believe that Cissokho would be the ideal mentor for Robinson. Most of the interest from bigger clubs is on Coentrao, this will keep the deal under the radar. Hopefully.
Some of the following may also join the club; Jarvis, A Johnson, Young, Long, Kun, Sissoko, M vila, Sakho, Matuidi, Marin, Coutinho and Enrique.
Kenny must have some big names in sight is transfer window. I believe Liverpool fans will be very happy and surprised will the quality which will be brought in.

king Kenny for knighthoood
YNWA! {Ed002's Note - May 15 was the deadline. Nothing has changed, Juventus want him at a discount and Liverpool want the best deal. The club can now sell to anyone but Juve remain favourites. €12M should see the deal done - with €5M to Roma and Juventus paying agent fees - which have all but been waved. Liverpool will walk away with about £5.5M is my guess.}

Hi ed. I live by the house that kevin nolan owns in liverpool. It has been getting done up for over ayear now. Swimming pool and everything! Anyway, as you may know he is like brothers with andy carroll, well, kevin has invited us in a couple of times to see how the house is going. We were invited in last week before the spurs game, along with a couple other neighbours, and big andy was there! We all had some conversations, but even though we only stayed a little while, my dad managed to get some news out of him. . Pepe is staying (you prob already know) because DC stated the players he was interested in, and they were all possible. He only gave my dad three players, they were cisscoko(spelling?) , jarvis, and a.johnson. I am really happy about this news. Can't wait until july!. . YNWA
