Liverpool Echo claim that the merseyside giants will only make an attempt to sign Moreno, should the Andalusian club reduce their asking fee to less than £20m.

Spanish newspaper Marca however claim Liverpool are preparing a final offer of €20m bid plus €2m additional bonuses to Sevilla for Moreno, which should be enough to seal the deal.

Believable69 Unbelievable18

Moreno has been on and off according to the press lol.

Agree1 Disagree1

Vital that we get this guy

Agree3 Disagree0

Liverpool desperately need to strengthen in defence. We have spent well so far but I will rest easier when Lovren and Moreno are getting a decent preseason. The amount of attackers we have bought makes you think Rodgers is going for a formation you normally associate with telephone directories. - 118 118

Agree2 Disagree1

I've read our highest offer for Moreno was £16million and they want £18million? Surely an extra £2m now we have £75m in the bank not worth haggling for?

Ed's, any truth to the Tony Barrett report of Borini agreeing a £14m move to Sunderland? If true surely we would need to sign two new strikers.

Cheers

Believable64 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - I don't know but £14M seems too high.}

Its £12m plus add ons according to the echo. Great bit of business

Agree5 Disagree0

Don't know how much the initial fee is, but could rise to £14 mil

Agree2 Disagree1

Its on the Liverpool echo too, reportedly £12 million with potentially £2 million with add ons.

Agree2 Disagree0

Not as high as David Luiz to PSG seemed Ed. 14m for Borini? I'd pay Suarez to bite their hand off for us.

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Wow, again making it about Chelsea.}

If its true it's the best deal for all parties. We have moved up a gear and we need to re-invest in quality additions. Borini is a player I think can develop but not at the rate of Sturridge, Sterling etc. shame really.

Agree4 Disagree0

Thanks for the response. Like others have said it seems it'll be £12m rising to £14m eventually. Seems like good business.

Agree3 Disagree0

I would like to think its good for Borini as it is for us. Fair play to the lad always kept his head up.

Anyone thinking we could buy Kono for that £12m?

A decent return on aplayer and hope it works out for him if he does sign.

Agree1 Disagree0

Moreno, Lovren & Remy . would make me very happy

Agree3 Disagree1

Ssn confirmed it, Borini fee agreed in the region of £14m, great deal for us. Hopefully it can be mostly reinvested.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 mill is a fantastic bit of business if true, can't believe it's that much

Agree0 Disagree0

Good bit of business, and if its true we are after Remy, I would be happier with him than Borini, i'd be more confident of him scoring from the bench, bit more clinical and gets into better positions, excellent bit of squad strengthening

Agree1 Disagree0

Giving up Borini to get Remy is not a bad bit of business (if its true). Probably 12 million w/ add ons (and he'll probably achieve them). Wish all the best for Fabio, and I hope he stays in the Premier League a long time, putting a dagger to the Manchester clubs!

I'd say its safe to assume we're getting another attacking player to replace Borini. Remy + 1.

Not too many mocking this move. Does that mean Ian Ayre is forgiven for not signing West Ham's target last January? Does that also mean you can pick up on my sarcasm?

Agree3 Disagree0

Sunderland Echo has the story as well. I like Borini a lot but he'll be a better player if he's playing regularly and that's not going to happen at Liverpool unfortunately. I hope he has a storming season at SAFC.

BTW, if the Assaidi figure is true, £21 million for the two is simply outstanding business by the club.

Agree3 Disagree0

If true I understand from a money point of you it would be good for the club as we are in debt.

However, can't help think this is a mistake. We do not currently have enough strikers to see us through the season.

We have lots of attacking players yes, but for me Marcovic will be better down the wing than as a striker, and apart from sturridge and lambert we don't have any other proven goal scorers really.

Agree1 Disagree1

Can't help thinking this could mean remy and another striker to come. That will leave us with 4 which if we're going to challenge on 4 fronts we will need.Don't think it will be another number 9 type. Someone more like a Reus (though zero chance it will be him, I can still dream!)

Looks like we might have agreed a fee for Borini with Sunderland.

If he does move on, I personally would wish him the best of luck as I really like the kid and think he deserves a bit of stability for once in his career.

His attitude deserves some form of recognition. He felt more relaxed at Sunderland and bit too anxious while he's at Liverpool. The move will do him some good. All the best, Fabio!

Agree4 Disagree0

19 Jul 2014 04:59:55
Agreed. Hope we have some buy back clause. The kid looked good for them but wasnt given a chance under BR, like so many others. We now look very lightweight up front.

Hey eds,
Whats the deal with Remy to Liverpool?

Thanks for answering
Zach

Believable8 Unbelievable19

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any deal. All I know from earlier today is from the transcript of what his manager said. And he suggested he would be heading to another club. Maybe something has changed this evening.}

Id be ok with Remy coming in he knows what is expected in EPL so it won't take him a season to adjust. We are never going to replace suarez so BR has to play with what he has got. I really don't think we arethat far away from havin a very good squad an hopefully another good season. Cheers ed 2 yr a gem

Liverpool is leading the race to sign Davies.

Believable15 Unbelievable59

Does the interest in Davies mean after enquiring about Bertrand we dropped our interest?

Agree3 Disagree0

We should be aiming higher than Swansea players!

Eds, reports just coming out than an enquiry/bid has been rejected for Lukaku?

Any truth to this?

Believable8 Unbelievable29

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any offer from Liverpool - there have been talks with a Spanish club, a German club and there are imminent talks with an Italian club.}

Theres a joke in that sum were the was a spanish club a italy club and a german club that walked into.

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Jul 2014 18:30:57
Atletico, Dortmund and Roma?

Agree2 Disagree0

Transfer delegates from a German club, a Spanish club and an Italian club walked into a building. oh sorry it's not a building it's Lukaku!

ssn saying there is definite interest from us with Remy

18 Jul 2014 14:56:26
Hi Ed's, are you aware of any interest in Javier Manquillo?

Hearing his name being linked today.

Believable3 Unbelievable16

{Ed002's Note - I can check this and will. Arsenal did speak to Atletico about a loan but having taken Debuchy it makes no sense to have him on loan as second choice. l'OM has spoken with Atletico but they did not want to sell. It would be an odd choice for Liverpool as there appears to be no pressing need for a right back.}

Shouldn't there be? Johnson is dreadful, Flanagan was great last season, but do we not need better?

Agree2 Disagree0

Unless they think he can play just as well either side, or would rather wait till they can get a LB they really want and keep Flanagan there for now

Agree1 Disagree0

Thanks Ed

18 Jul 2014 18:32:54
I think there will be nothing too it. LFC are well stoked in the RB department and already have players at a similar level to Manquilio.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jul 2014 11:50:09
It is.clear we are looking at another striker.to take the.burden of sturridge. Remy/lacezzete are quailty options and within a decent price range. Then a.top CB( Lovren) and I would be happy with the squad. LB, if we cannot buy better than what we have, don't buy simply. Betrand/davis could be bought and this time next year, we would be looking at LB postition.again. We need to really be careful with spending now and sell a few players that will not get much game time or make any real difference. Help.balance the books and we kick on again.

Believable47 Unbelievable19

18 Jul 2014 12:13:56
I believe that Davies has the potential to be better than anything we currently have for LB and that Bertrand is a decent option to have an ambitious young specifically trained LB.
Dont write any of them off based on the club they represent or stuff like that. Can you imagine the hate campaign when the club announced they were signing an unkown CB from Willem? He turned out to be one of the greatest servants in the history of the club, and I for one am proud to have watched Hyypia play.
Davies or Bertrand offer us the same. The scouts and club officials know more about the players in question than anyone on here does, its their job to know more, and we should trust in them to help our great club progress.

Agree4 Disagree7

Maybe it is just me but I can't see Remy as a positive? I never say this or this player is not good enough but don't think he would suit our play and dare I say it. he is not good enough, perhaps

Agree3 Disagree8

Just a thought, is brad smith not worth trying to bring through this year? Rodgers obviously thought he was well worth being shoved on last 10 minutes against chelsea 2-1 down with other options. Silly a decision that may have been, he must have shown some promise for Rodgers to have made that decision.

Morning Eds,

Has Liverpool or any EPL team been interested in Celtic Defender Virgil van Dijk? He is a great defender quick and can play ball. Plus held his own against Europe's elite last season in the CL. I think he would be a cheaper option. 20mil for Lovens or 8 mil for Van Dijk. decisions!

Believable9 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - There is interest from the EPL but not Liverpool.}

18 Jul 2014 12:19:52
I have watched Van Dijk a few times and he's is one hell of a CB. Composed and assured on the ball. Even against Barca he did well. i'd back him coming in, but I would be more than happy with Lovren.
Sometimes it seems to us on the outside that there is a cheaper yet just as effective alternative, like Lovren for £20m or Van Dijk for £8-10m. It will be different having inside information. Its like calm waters on top but a current below. Other clubs are possibly not linked sith Van Dijk because most of the footballing world know he's basically signed for someone. Similar has happened in recent years with Lewandowski, and even when Hodgson became LFC manager. Everyone 'In the know' knows a while before hand that certain moves are sealed. Its just confusing to us that are not in the know to understand why more teams are not looking at this chealer alternative.

Agree1 Disagree4

Pity, he is an absolutely fantastic defender.

Eds,
-Heard we looking to bid either Loic Remy or Alexandre Lacazette. Personally I think Lacazette is good buy than Remy. Young n good dribber plus can score. If under Rodgers I think he'll be more mature. is lfc planning to make bid?

-Looks like Moreno to atletico. Heard we submit improved bid for ben davies n he s keen to move to Anfield. any news on this eds?

-what about dejan lovren? is soton looking for replacement only then lfc can sign him? heard Agger is staying.

tq eds.

Believable6 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - There is interest from Liverpool, and others, in Lacazette. Liverpool will certainly need to push hard and fast for Ben Davis now. Nothing has changed with Lovren.}

I prefer a proven EPL player an that's why Remy gets my vote. We don't want another borini on our hands.

Agree2 Disagree1

18 Jul 2014 10:05:15
Is Steven Jovetic available for transfer and have Liverpool shown any interest in him?

Believable3 Unbelievable22

{Ed002's Note - No.}

18 Jul 2014 07:38:50
Hi eds, read this page multiple times daily for the past number of years so first off thank you all for the hard work and patience over the years its much appreciated.

I have one question, I see Ed002 says our interest in Shaqiri is gone and I presume its because we've signed Markovic, along with a striker we're rumoured to be wanting to sign I was just wondering if any of the ed's know if we have any interest in signing another attacking wide player? Thanks again, Mapelscouse.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Both Markovic and Lallana have been signed. The interest that has been shown in other forwards has been for a more central player (Origi, Huntelaar, Lacazette).}

Origi is most likely to join out of those and he looks the better player, a loan to Lille will do him good as they are in the CL next season so he will get more experience.

hello eds,
thanks for the great work.
is there a possibility of bringing in Benteke?
great lad and can become a beast under Rodgers.

Believable8 Unbelievable17

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest in him.}
