eds are we still being linked with pastore or not. Thanks {Ed001's Note - yes.}

And do you see any substance to said links, ed? Where would pastore fit in, unless we were to lose suarez? Can he play out wide? {Ed001's Note - he has played out wide.}

I think Pastore is best in a central attacking midfield role or even central midfield making breaks, I don't know if we are genuinely after him, or if his agent is fixing up a few teams with credit in his player. I'm far too removed in my sitting room to have a clue. But if we were to get him i'd have thought he'd be best suited playing behind a striker/s, just in the role Coutinho is best at. Pastore was very good against Barcelona in the Champions League and scored a great goal.

I think it would be good to see him at Liverpool pending costs, he's got a great footballing mind and might be a very good player for us, whilst we're at it and P.S.G are selling players, I wouldn't mind Lavezzi as well, never been prolific but I think would be tremendously well suited to our current system. Lavezzi and Pastore to Liverpool and the squad would be pretty much complete for me. Tottenham, Arsenal and Fenebache apparently want Pastore as well. So it would be hard. Before anyone cries about my liking for Lavezzi, it's just a chuckle, although. :) YNWA

Is there any substance to recent rumours linking Liverpool with a move for Shaqiri of Bayern?
Thanks

Ed02 is there any chance of us making a pre-agreement in January for Xabi Alonso to come home after the world cup? or just sign him outright in Jan? surely he wouldn't be worth that much in Jan at his age with only 6 months left on his contract {Ed002's Note - I really don't see it happening myself. I see Alonso's options as Galatasaray (can't see him moving there now), New York Red Bulls, Colorado Rapids or LA Galaxy (all possible) and finally Real Sociedad (in the future perhaps). I can't say the most likely thing to happen but I could give an opinion that he will move to the MLS (maybe the NY Red Bulls) and then return to Spain to end his career with Real Sociedad.}

Thanks for the reply Ed002

I would love Alonso to come back personally, not just for his qualities either. He's a good player for the younger players to learn from and look up to as a role model.

Let Alonso carry on but somewhere else. I loved the lad in his time with us and I think warmly of him since and love that he still maintains a genuine interest in Liverpool football club. But let it end there. Remember him fondly, re-watch a young 21 year old Alonso man up and take a penalty in the Champions League final and have Dida save it only for Alonso to bury the rebound despite Nesta's best efforts at taking his legs out, remember the Luton goal and the Newcastle goal, the Chelsea goal and the numerous pin point long distant passes and Alonso's ability to cover the midfield despite never having any pace which shows how good his footballing brain is. But let's not do any more than enjoy the nostalgia that is summoned when Xabi Alonso's name is mentioned in regard with Liverpool. Please.
