A lot of noise/ cobsistancy from several papers claiming Contact made about benfica, ferro, 21yr CB.
I don't believe the prices qouted 85m buy out for unproven but seems loan 8m + opt to buy was rejected last year.

He only has 10 senior appearances. I'd think we'd like to see a bit more of him at senior level before making such an investment.

{Ed002's Note - Francisco Ferreira was one of the three young CBs Liverpool looked at in 2017 with a view to taking one in January 2018. He is priced in order to turn any potential buyers away, such as Manchester City, West Ham and Borussia Dortmund who have also shown a little interest and watched him in the B side over the past 18 months.}

Thanks Ed002. It's the first that I've seen about him. Surely nobody with any sense would pay such an obscene amount of money for someone with so little senior experience.

Reece-Oxford of West Ham springs to mind. He had an amazing debut at 16 against Arsenal (also MOTM if I remember correctly) and looked good in his other appearances, but he's nowhere near their first team now.

Jack Robinson is another good example.

10 appearances? A lot of it depends on the mentality of the person. Lots of players (not just defenders) have had really bright starts to their career and tailed off because they didn't have the right mindset to play at the highest level and to keep improving.

{Ed002's Note - No, I would not expect anyone to be paying anything like such an amount.}

The way I read the story is that we’re interested in this young player, his buyout clause is £85m or some such number, therefore we are prepared to break the record.

Can anyone else see the leap the ‘journalists’ have made? 😉😂.

Goodmorning Eds and Reds. Eds are we looking to strngthen the RB position by bringing in a new right back in the summer since Klopp doesn't rate Clyne or do we have a youngster that will be promoted like TAA? Thanks for your time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is probably the priority from what I am told.}

17 Mar 2019 08:50:28
Hey Ed could you add anything to that. As in, would it be someone that we would want to go straight into the starting 11 and TAA become backup RB/ CM.? Or are you not too sure at this stage.?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - why would either be a back up when the intention is to build a squad that can compete on all fronts?}

Thanks for your reply Ed001.Are you aware of any possible targets that we are taking a look at?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - off the top of my head no, though I know we were interested in the lad Madrid just bought from Porto, Eder Militao.}

Previously thought Ricardo Periera of Leicester would be a good addition to cover both fullback positions due to his versatility but then I have seen him shirk out of a number of challenges since joining them. Not sure Klopp would be too impressed by that.
Maybe Heinrichs or Calabria could be options?
Not sure we need a CB if Gomez can stay fit.

Ed1, because TAA is young and still learning his trade (even tho i think he is great already) so if the thought was bringing an older established RB in, and my understanding that TAA may be slowly intergrated into midfield at some stage, this makes sense to me to have him competing/ covering both RB and CM next year if we have 1 or 2 midfielders leave in the summer. that is all i was meaning and asking mate.

Wan Bissaka aaah dreamland.

If it’s priority then Ed mate no doubt TAA will move into Midfield next season as you’ve suggested could happen in time.

I’d argue that we have quite a lot of depth at rb currently TAA, Gomez, Milner, Clyne, Camacho have all played in this position at sometime or other this season. Not to mention possibly Ki-Jana Hoever in the next 18-24 months will be knocking on the door for regular first team football. Granted Clyne could be moved on, and Gomez will inevitably end up at centre back. Personally can’t see TAA evolution into the middle of the park in the next couple of seasons at least, trouble is he’s just to valuable to the team where he is at the moment! Can’t see the point of bringing in established names as above on high wages, stunting the opportunity for the younger guys. However if pushed I’d happily bring in Max Aarons from Norwich and have him Camacho, Hoever compete for the role long term.

Clyne is as good as gone, he's not going to get a new contract. Milner might also be on his way in the summer. Camacho, I just don't see things working out for him at Liverpool. We're in need of another RB. Wan Bissaka would be a great signing, rotate him with Trent or push Trent up to the midfield more often.

I don't get all the calls to get trent into midfield as we see toady the full backs are so important for the way we play. Then we have to find a right back that can get up and down like trent does.

Grino, his passing range is limited at right back and considering he’s already technically one of our best passers at 20 it makes sense, he has excellent shooting too, there’s plenty of excellent young right backs we could sign to allow Trent to unleash his full potential, wan bissaka and Aaron’s would be good and home grown.

I haven't noticed the improvement in TAA needed to be the starting right back for LFC.

There is a reason City always attack us down our right when we play them.

A good footballer, potentially an excellent footballer, but not a defender.

Red67 most teams attack us down our right, mostly because Virgil's on the other side and yes Trent gets caught out occasionally, but that's the risk Klopp chooses to take. The fact is Trent is part of the best defensive unit in the league. Goals conceded: 18 Clean sheets: 17 and it would be the reverse except for the triple brain-fart on Sunday. It will take an exceptional signing to improve on Trent as a RB.
