Hello Ed, Shaqiri came out and said he will listen to offers in the summer and that today we were linked with Rodrigo of Benfica. Question is what is the current situation of both and do we have interest in any?

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - He is one of the players Bayern are looking to sell. Fiorentina have a declared interest with Napoli and Juventus having made tentative enquiries. I would not rule Liverpool out of making a bid.

Atletico Madrid and Zenit have shown an interest in Rodrigo - if Liverpool are looking to him, and there is nothing to say theu are, he would be as a replacement for someone else.}

Me personally would bring bk suso instead of paying top money for a kid with talent but can hardly get a game with bayern .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - A good point but Suso will want game time and I suspect a more central role. Liverpool should make the effort with him, but commitments are always tough.}

Shaqiri seems like the type of player BR would go for. A very talented player, still very young but has found game time difficult at his current club, much like Sturridge, Coutinho, Sakho, Sahin, Moses, Cissokho etc.

Rodrigo will be way too expensive and to be honest, I don't see the need for a expensive back-up striker.

Suso is an excellent player and I hope he stays with LFC. However, if he came into the squad for next season, he will not get any guarantees. He will need to fight it out with others to earn a place in the side. BR has shown that he is ready to put anyone in the side as long as they show an improvement. I suspect he might well go out on loan again.

Agree1 Disagree0

For the Type of formation we used against Man U Southampton etc I believe this would suit suso more than playing on the wing but hopefully we can tie him down and use him cause he's defiantly got talent

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Suso will be in the squad for next season. Unless we have a meltdown we will be in 4 competitions next season, we need players of his quality.

He has proved that he can go out for a season and perform every week, in a struggling team. He will be much better for it next season.

Like everyone though, he will have to earn his place, prove that he is ready for 1st team football in the prem. I have big hopes for him though. I think he needs to play as a n10 though not on the wing.

Agree1 Disagree0

Reading between the lines edd, susso was on last week and he brought up he wanted a new contract so the kid does want to stay as he could force Liverpools hand about a move, I take your point he wants game time and a position that suits him, I agree with him he should be more central as he has no real pace but rodgers can point to sturridge and suarez playing for the team not the position, as for shaquri top teams do not let top players go even a great bayern team, the kid is young but the money banded around for him is simply ridiculous, I have seen the knop kid and he would be a better fit for us but whether that ship has sailed you know better than me.

Hello Ed02, did you enjoy the Utd-LFC game yesterday?

A quick question if you have the time; while many teams have already declared interest in players for the summer, for example Manchester United (showing interest in Kroos, Gundongan, Vidal, Hintereger, Arias, Shaw, Bernat, Carvalho, Garay, Ginter, Mangala and no doubt others), do you find it strange that LFC have not declared any clear interest in a wider pool of players? I am aware we have shown an interest in Parejo, Hughes, Bertrand and too some extent in Firmino and Hintereger.

While I understand LFC are likely to let go of many players this summer and will probably add only about 3 players to the squad, I would have thought with CL now looking very likely, LFC would be trying to convince players to come to Anfield.

Is it that LFC are doing a good job of keeping their targets to themselves or perhaps they are scouting new targets?

Believable4 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - I did not see the game AG, but if you look at the positions covered by the Manchester United players many are the same. Liverpool will add a few players this year I am sure, but it is only March. There are players being looked at around the world and with the exception of South America many get discussed. Scouts run around watching games all of the time but much of what the papers say is simply vague speculation.}

Thanks Ed02. I understand what you say about Utd.

The point I was trying to make was that most of Utd's targets are no well known while only a very few of LFC's are; and the reason behind it.

I assume South America not being a place looked upon because of Work Permit issues?

The game was OK, not our best performance, but a fantastic result nevertheless.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

{Ed002's Note - "Known" is subjective of course. South American players lead to meltdown if discussed so we don't do that. Bottom line is that results are what will put Liverpool back in the mix. Everyone prefers pretty, but everyone gets pissed with pretty and a loss. It looks great right now for the club.}

So Keylor Navas is the preffered choice for keeper competition? Has Rubén García been looked at as well?

Believable1 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - Levante goalkeeper Keylor Navas is an alternative to Steve Mandanda for Atletico Madrid. AC Milan see Navas as a replacement for Abbiati. Wigan and Everton have both taken interest in the player recently. A move to sit on the bench at Liverpool is not at all likely.

Levante are looking to give a new deal to Ruben Garcia after being approached by both Porto and Dortmund about the player.}

Thanks a million ed, two very informative answers for me, a great weekend to be Irish and a Liverpool fan. :)

Hi eds
apart from Bertrand have we looked at any other LB'S recently
Has there been a confirmation of Liverpool interest in Hintereggeer or Firmino

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - To date, I am only aware of firm interest in Bertrand.

Firmino will very likely move in the summer with Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Shakhtar, Zenit, Manchester United and Schalke interested. I am aware that Dynamo Kiev and Liverpool have also looked at Firmino but have not declared interest with his agent or Hoffenheim who would like to offer him a new deal. Roberto Firmino was previously subject of a rejected bid from Southampton.

Hinteregger but only vague speculation about interest from Liverpool. The centre back has been looked at closely by Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus.}

Hinteregger as well as his team mate kampl were widely rummoured about throughout the month of feb. an assured central defender hinteregger is making waves across europe with his performances for red bull saltburg in the europa league and the austrian national team(marked suarez in the recent friendly). don't be suprised if he were to move over to a bigger club in the summer, whether we are interested with the amount of central defenders on the books, we would have to sell before we could buy . kampl however has been looked at as a long term replacement for steve gerrard . both have been tracked by arsenal as well as united and seen as reasonablely priced at £20m for the both of them.

Ed001. Paper talk or truth? Adem ljajic? Heard he's rated 8mil? Liverpool to move on the summer

Believable5 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - sounds like they are recycling an old story, we had interest in him a while back.}

Mornin eds,
Ings is impossible to search for since every gerund comes up. I think is award was well deserved and quite an achievement for one so young. I'm sure his price & fame have shot up now but do Liverpool have an interest? (personally think Hughes is overrated)

Thanks and Happy Paddy's Day!

Believable1 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - No, but Stoke are looking to take Danny Ings in the summer.}
