a.johnson remains a possibility... hinges on nasri to MCFC... and the right price.. but he wants to join us...

marquee foreign signing won't happen till next summer 'if' we reach top 4..

LD/CB are still real possibilities, could be this week, could be last day of window.. rumours in press are accurate on the actual ones being considered (not enrique)..

we may even move G.J up and play 3 CBs depending on how above business pans out..

re aqua - very likely going (more his choice than LFC) but even if he stays we should be glad.. gives our squad depth and could play a big role given the chance..

jovanovic, poulsen good as gone

We have signed players very quickly during this transfer window, which is shrewd as we have our main targets. Shift out some players who don't want to win trophies with us and then don't be surprised to see more activity.
We all saw what the last day was like during the January window
For the record, here are some facts.
Cattermole - Laughable
Cissokho - possibility
Higuain - silly rumour
Johnson - wishful thinking
Dann - possibility.

caught offside reporting man city in for aqua.lets try for deal inc johnson

17 Jul 2011 22:01:40
Ed do we still have any interest in Danti Cazorla? {Ed009's Note - I assume you mean Santi and, if so, there is interest in the player coming from Malaga, who may well strike a deal for the player. If he doesn't move there I can't really see him moving anywhere else. He would cost about 25 million and that is too much for us at this time I imagine.}

17 Jul 2011 21:51:26
a fee with lyon will be accepted on wednesday for their left back cissoko it is ment to be arround 8.7 mill

17 Jul 2011 21:45:57
Ed are sayin we are lookin at Lucas biglia from anderlecht surely we not after another cm are we cheers

Mickleburg {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest.}

17 Jul 2011 21:35:52
Ed apparently Ola Toivonens contract expires in 12 months time should we not go back for this player at a reasonable price 8-10 million tops?

We have enquirer in the not too distant past so why not now? {Ed002's Note - Since then two strikers have come in. He wants Champions League football and I am sure would not want to spend time on the bench.}

17 Jul 2011 21:43:21
just heard we had made a bid for dann of thursday but im not 100% shure its true

17 Jul 2011 21:37:08
Hi ed not saying this is going to happen but If we sign Bastos will we use him as a lb or a lwb as how Brazil used him in WC or will he be used as a back up for downing on the lw YNWA {Ed009's Note - I would imagine he would be back up for the whole left side, but its a moot point really, I very much doubt he will be joining. He doesn't want to move to the city and our interest appears to have stopped there.}

17 Jul 2011 21:32:23
SPOKE TO MY SOURCE TODAY AND HE TOLD ME THAT DC INTERVIEW IS JUST A SMOKE SCREEN BECAUSE THERE IS DEALS THAT NEED TO BE DONE IN PRIVATE AND THERE IS TO BE A SIGNING IN TWO WEEKS MAYBE A LB AND CB
THANKS

17 Jul 2011 21:24:17
Ed any news on us going for Jan Vertonghen of Ajax? For me a quality centre half that we need.

Also with Blackburn bidding for Honda do you think we will make a move? {Ed009's Note - He has been consistently linked with City and Arsenal, but I can't see him moving to City after they signed the centre back earlier in the window. There is no interest from Liverpool in the player at the minute to my knowledge. With regards to Honda, he would prefer Italy or France, so I can imagine he could well find a move there. That aside, it is now the middle of the season in Russia and he would cost around 20 million in all likelihood. I am not so sure we have that money to spend right now, especially on an attacker.}

17 Jul 2011 21:25:53
hi ed, any chance of us signing david bently he can put a good cross in and tottenham are looking to sell him? {Ed002's Note - I doubt it.}

17 Jul 2011 20:56:09
Hi eds Great site Just seen a few rumours going round on some other sites that we are looking to place a bid of £10m for Lee cattermole? I for one hope not, the guy is rubbish is definitely not good enough to wear the shirt and would spend half the time being suspended Is there any legs to these stories? Thanks eds.

Red Legend YNWA {Ed002's Note - It seems unlikely to me.}

17 Jul 2011 20:42:04
Liverpool could be set to make a £10million move for Lee Cattermole, who is devastated at losing the Sunderland captaincy to John O'Shea..............the peole newspaper

17 Jul 2011 20:41:29
Lead to believe without being confirmed we had made a bid for dann on Thursday. You got any info re this ed?

Jimbob {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

17 Jul 2011 20:29:40
Cattermole will not join is has 1st team football at SoL, Ince and Bruna to join Blackpool, Higauin might join and a couple of players still to join

17 Jul 2011 20:18:16
Ed is there any truth in the Higuan story ? Apparently we are weighing up a big bid of 25 for him. Should I bother believing this? {Ed002's Note - No, it is most unlikely.}

17 Jul 2011 19:40:36
that Blackpool have agreed a deal to sign Liverpool youngster Gerardo Bruna.

17 Jul 2011 19:37:32
Do u think cole will be going? Hopefully well keep him till jan. Whats the update on jovanovic? {Ed002's Note - Jovanovic is talking to a number of clubs - Anderlecht seem most likely.}

17 Jul 2011 19:34:01
Ed's, is there any solid evidence on the Cissokho talk.
Or, is it all just a rumour that has got far out of hand.

Paul The Gooch {Ed002's Note - An enquiry had been made with Lyon about the availability of Cissokho - this is about 10 days ago. Since then Lyon have gone off to a training camp in Austria where Cissokho was due to join them and didn't; returned to Lyon to train where Cissokho did not show up - albeit the club were not expecting him to; and today they have played and lost a friendly with Genk in Belgium. The fans have certainly turned agaisnt the player in recent weeks. Cissokho's agents were informed last week that they need to find their client a new club and that Lyon would listen to offers. Other clubs who have shown an interest include Benfica, Juventus and Roma but nobody has made an acceptable offer as far as I know - at least up until yesterday evening. I very much doubt that Liverpool will be completing a deal this weekend but there has been interest - which has been discussed exhaustively over the past 10 days. No bid has been accepted and no fee agreed at this time.}

17 Jul 2011 19:26:11
Ed, do you expect anymore signings over the summer, or would it just be guess work at this time?

ToonRed {Ed002's Note - Please read the earlier posts - this has been discussed at length.}

17 Jul 2011 19:05:16
Hey Ed, is there any truth in the rumour than Gonzalo Higuain could come to Liverpool?

And if he did would we playing 3 up the front as Barca proved clearly how effectful it is.

pete {Ed002's Note - I think there is very little chance that Higuain will be moving to Liverpool.}

17 Jul 2011 18:42:58
is there any truth in us bidding for lee cattermole

17 Jul 2011 18:32:55
Various sources (Daily mail, Talk Sport, John Henry's Twitter) are reporting that Aquilani has impressed during preseason so far. Can we stop saying every other post that he's going to be sold? He is very different from our other central mids and can also play behind the main striker. He has the attributes of Benayoun and Luis Garcia and has looked very sharp in both games so far. Don't be surprised if Raul, Aqua, and Cole all stay and get another chance. We are building squad depth.

17 Jul 2011 18:30:30
Hi Ed 1st time writer, have you heard anything about King Kenny coming back off early tour to sign Baines 15million and not just to tie up the great Downing deal ? {Ed002's Note - No I haven't I am afraid.}

17 Jul 2011 17:22:09
Hello ed, It seems everyones suggesting we need to sell to buy from now on wards or atleast we should get rid of deadwood wagebill befre we sign. So could u suggest some certain departures and possibles ones along with loans if u have a good idea. THANKS {Ed002's Note - Jovanovic will go, Aquilani, Insua and Meireles will probably go. The club will be looking to get rid of El Zhar. Some of the younger players may go out on loan - perhaps Shelvey will be the highest profile.}

17 Jul 2011 17:16:26
hi all , havnt posted for a while but i have been informed from relatives in turkey ( expats ) that there is strong rumours that arda turan could be next at anfield maybe to do with our friendly out there but , they seem convinced something is happening

17 Jul 2011 17:15:40
Ive heard that Cissokho is close to joining Liverpool, the deal should be complete by the end of this week. It even sayd on LiverpoolFC.TV that we are close to signing him and i say the club knows better than anyone about current transfers. So expect Cissokho :D finally a decent left back

17 Jul 2011 17:13:49
Insua and Aquilani have been given squad numbers? 98 and 99 respectively. Anything in that? They staying? {Ed002's Note - I suspect they are simply placeholders on the web site. I don't know what will happen to Insua but I suspect Aquilani will leave during this transfer window.}

17 Jul 2011 17:11:10
i ed out of ten can u rate these players to come to liverpool

aly cissokho
jeffren suarez
scott dann

thanx {Ed002's Note - 4, 4, 7}

17 Jul 2011 16:49:29
Whats happening with poulsen ed. We must get rid. Also any updates on a lb? {Ed002's Note - I don't know what happened with Poulsen over discussions with Copenhagen but there is some political posturing by his agent saying he is staying at Anfielf. As for a LB, please read further down the page where it has been discussed in some detail.}

17 Jul 2011 16:48:53
please can you let me know on the situation with ALY SISSOKO as i keep hearing we have agreed a fee. {Ed002's Note - An enquiry had been made with Lyon about the availability of Cissokho - this is about 10 days ago. Since then Lyon have gone off to a training camp in Austria where Cissokho was due to join them and didn't; returned to Lyon to train where Cissokho did not show up - albeit the club were not expecting him to; and today they have played and lost a friendly with Genk in Belgium. No bid has been accepted and no fee agreed at this time.}

17 Jul 2011 16:42:52
hey ed if macca says we are not in 4 a lb and you kind of agree with it then are you saying aurelio or robinson will play there surely not? {Ed002's Note - I am saying that the interest in Cissokho seems to have waned and there is certainly no done deal. Putting aside Wilson, we saw Johnson play well at LB, Aurelio, Insua, Robinson and no doubt others can play there as well. Macca's position that the club will see how it pans out and check it out again in January makes a lot of sense to me. I wonder what the club would do if a deal with Fiorentina could be struck that sees Vargas as an option. For me, I would expect them to re-evaluate their decision.}

17 Jul 2011 16:37:50
ed how many more players do u think are in the pipe line?? im thinking 3 more will come in.1 dann, 2 johnson man city will sell him.and ed please your take on the striker...we are on the up... JAY ESSEX RED 4 LIFE RED TILL DEAD {Ed002's Note - Park Chu Young would be a good buy as a striker - but both Schalke and Lille remain interested.}

17 Jul 2011 16:36:14
PSV star ola toivonen considering his options to move this summer.he is rumored a target of liverpool and west bromwich albion. he is still enjoying his life at PSV but admits he could move
source:goal.com
any chance ed ? {Ed002's Note - Very unlikely. He gave an interview and said that he was upset over not playing in the Champions League - that was pretty much all I saw that let to this speculation. However, if he were available and interested in sitting on the bench with no Champions League this year, then a decent buy.}

17 Jul 2011 16:25:16
Liverpool to make a loan bid for Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge as cover for Carroll and Suarez. You heard it here first.

17 Jul 2011 16:08:29
ronaldinho to liverpool, loan with option to buy.100% true.

17 Jul 2011 15:56:48
Hello ed, Could we see wilson, shelvey and pacheco go out on loan to some clubs or will they be kept and used in cup matches THANKS {Ed009's Note - Pacheco was scheduled to go on loan to Coventry until the deal was cancelled last minute. So Kenny must have plans for him either to be a squad member or to be permanently sold on. Certainly Wilson and quite likely Shelvey are available for loan, depending on whether we sell the other midfielders such as Aquilani and Meireles I suppose. We are unlikely to see many loan moves until the higher priority sales are made.}

17 Jul 2011 15:12:13
Ed what chance would you give us of signing lukaku or mata? {Ed009's Note - probably pretty low. Lukaku was a player we held interest in a while back, along with several other clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea. Almost all the clubs following his progress were scared off by the 30 million price tag Anderlecht put on his head, which effectively ruled him out of a transfer. I would question whether paying even 20 million would not be a huge risk for unproven talent. We were interested in Mata before Downing's signing, but didn't follow that up and since then Arsenal and Tottenham have bothed failed in attempts to sign him. I see him as very unlikely at this time for a club who's further transfers must be funded predominantly by sales.}

17 Jul 2011 15:07:44
Ed a very reliable ITK (ydaphus) has been saying that we have enquired about turan in the last 10 days as an option for another winger. He also says that we spoke to aguero reps from 28th to 30th june but that he is more likely to go elsewhere. Do you think that either of these could be true and show we are still after a winger and another striker? {Ed009's Note - Personally I can't see either transfer happening, they are unlikely to say the least. Turan is more likely than Aguero though as he strangely still hasn't moved and so we could make a last minute swoop for him in theory. I think we could look at one of those two positions, but only if we sell off all the deadwood as I can't see the board funding anymore signings without proceeds from sales.}

17 Jul 2011 15:01:11
hey eds, or anyone.
when are the squad due back from asia, liverpool x11 are playing my hometown club next wed night (waterford), will be mostly reserves and youngsters but if the team are back by then might be a few seniors come over
waterford red {Ed002's Note - They are due back or travelling tomorrow I believe. I suspect it will be reserves and perhaps some new signings on Wednesday. A runout for Downing and Doni perhaps.}

17 Jul 2011 14:54:59
Ronaldinho on seasons loan
WTS

17 Jul 2011 14:45:39
we will not get bastos now we have downing, adam johnson is a possibility for the right wing if city sign nasri and aguero, cissoko deal is close a fee will be agreed on wednesday and we are now intersed in Per Mertesacker for the CB position. After cissoko signs dont expect another signing untill we get rid of some deadwood. YNWA

17 Jul 2011 14:43:53
Hey eds super site surely there cant b any truth in these lee cattermole rumours? Its on d lfc news website? Hav u heard nythin?
Cheers

P {Ed009's Note - The website just recreates rumours from the press. I have not heard of any interest and can not see the transfer going ahead in all honesty.}

17 Jul 2011 14:32:41
Ed what's the situation with Iker Muniain? He would be a great buy IMO and fits all the criteria, other than perhaps premier league proven.
Cheers, great site {Ed002's Note - After Roma's interest was brushed aside it looks like Muniain will stgay in Bilbao.}

17 Jul 2011 14:32:24
Hello eds. Are we close to sign Aly C? Some media tells that Lyon is not going to sell both Bastos and Aly, only one of them. I know that Chelsea, Juventus, Roma are interested in Bastos. But even though do we have a chance? We seriously need a Left Back.

Cheers from Denmark {Ed002's Note - I spent most of yesterday explaining that the media saying that a deal had been made between the cubs for Cissokho were wrong, or at the very least very premature. It does not look likely that Cissokho will be moving to Anfield as we stand right now. From what MAcca has suggested, a LB is not seen as the priority right now.}

17 Jul 2011 14:29:49
macca-do you think any transfer targets left could depend on what other teams may buy allowing us to go for a player who can then be free to move so lpool have to wait for this many thanks lfc

17 Jul 2011 14:25:41
{Ed002's Note - At a guess Meireles and Aquilani will leave.}

I wonder ed would we sell both of them. I reckon we should keep one of them as they can be quality back ups. I'm torn which one should we be keeping. Preferably aquilani[younger, faster and flairer] but i believe he is the most likely to be gone as u stated reasons. But do u think both will be sold or is there a slim chance of at least keeping one of them. Thanks

{Ed002's Note - I am pretty sure Aquilani will be sold. Meireles' issue is one of unkept promises. Add to that the players coming in, then I suspect he may well still wish to leave if the right offer comes up.}

17 Jul 2011 14:07:50
Was wondering, why not sign Jeremy Menez, he's young, in his last year of contract, and could play on the right side & as a second striker. Think we should be able to get him for around 8 million, sounds like a good signing. He's quality & has trickery, just what liverpool need. Please reply eds, what do you think? Thanks {Ed002's Note - We have seen him turn down a move to England already when an exchange was proposed for Clichy. Roma may also consider trying to use him in an exchange with Lyon for either Cissokho or Bastos now Marseille are no longer interested. There remains a chance of a move to PSG but I very much doubt a move to Liverpool is in the offing at all.}

17 Jul 2011 14:02:06

Think we should be able to get him for around 8 million, sounds like a good signing. He's quality & has trickery, just what liverpool need. Please reply eds, what do you think? Thanks {Ed002's Note - He may go to Lyon as part of a deal to take Cissokho or Bastos to Roma, or he may just head to PSG or even Marseille (although their interest is waning). I doubt that he will be moving to England having already rejected Arsenal when a swap invoving Clichy was suggested a while back.}

17 Jul 2011 14:01:53
are u well ed, , ?
just wondering do u see conor coady getting many first team chances next year, i reckon he should cause he is quality
cheers
Danny in Galway {Ed002's Note - He will either get chances off the bench with perhaps a run in the league cup, or perhaps go out on loan to gain first team experience. Certainly one for the future.}

17 Jul 2011 13:59:38
I believe we are still after a centre back and striker, most of the transfers will take place at the end of the transfer window once we have sold some of the deadwood..

The money will have to be generated by sales now..

Cheers

Macca {Ed002's Note - DNA checked OK.}

17 Jul 2011 13:53:28
Eds what is going we have over 8 players in the current team that play cm.
Jonjo
Aqua
Raul
Stevi
Little jay
Adam
That man who tanks theres no ball in football.
Lucas
Cody
Who do u think we will sell? with raul and aqua and poulsin saying that there staying I think we should loan out jay and jonjo and sell poulsin. And whats the news on a lb.

Thanks. Josh {Ed002's Note - At a guess Meireles and Aquilani will leave.}

17 Jul 2011 13:52:45
hi ed, is there any interest in fiorentina's striker jovetic he would be a great back up striker? {Ed002's Note - No chance I am afraid.}

17 Jul 2011 13:45:11
alrite ed, do u think we will get another striker cos suarez could miss the first 2 games? {Ed009's Note - I don't think we will buy another striker for those two games, no. I don't think we will at all, personally.}

17 Jul 2011 13:44:48
Hey eds,

i was wondering do any of you know of any plans for Liverpool ro bring in a right winger? What right wingers have we been linked with previously? Just seems that, instead of playing Kuyt there we could get a genuine right winger in, have Kuyt as our back-up striker/back up right woinger (thus avoiding shelling out 30mil for Higuain... LOL) and generally improve our squad.

p.s. heard we in discussions Lens over an 18 year old called Serge Aurier.. anyone know him? Heard he was a right back, thats all i know.

Cheers,

SMc {Ed009's Note - I am not sure we will bring in another winger this window, unless we manage to shift all of the 'deadwood'. Johnson is perhaps an option, but I don't know of any interest in any other players for that position at this time.}

17 Jul 2011 13:32:19
hey ed
can u tell me whats happening with aly cissoko? have we made a bid or is it just more speculation? and is he our 1st choice for the left back position or have we been frced t look at him? i persnly think he is a good player and is the best option

JACK RED {Ed009's Note - we haven't made a bid yet, but we enquired as to the player's availability last week and were told that he was definitely available. He didn't travel with Lyon on their pre-season tour and they are resigned to losing him. I believe at this time he is first choice and is better than Enrique, but there is a chance that we won't sign a left back at all this window. We certainly won't be held to ransom and will only move for the right player.}

17 Jul 2011 13:06:47
Hi Eds
The 'People' report Bolton have had a £5M offer for Jeffren accepted Why didnt' we bid for this young striker, Ed? Or, is there a chance we still might? At £5M he seems a snip {Ed009's Note - If this story is true then perhaps it is because we don't have interest in the player at this time, or don't see the need to bring in another winger. Either way I would not worry - it is certainly too late as several other Spanish clubs are interested in the player and I have no doubt Jeffren will stall on any move to see what else comes up. If the board decide the player is appropriate for the club, there is definitely still time to sign him.}

17 Jul 2011 12:55:51
Just come back off of holiday and had a ton of emails from a couple of people who had some knowledge of what goes on at LFC.

Being told that Inter Milan will offer £12.5m for Raul Meireles if Wesley Sneijder is sold elsewhere. Alberto Aquilani has decided to stay at least until January 2012 and also Emiliano Insua will be staying until that time at least because we can't sign a left back for an appropiate deal. We are after Jose Enrique but Newcastle quoted £15m for him, we are looking at £9m so will try to sign him in January where maybe Insua will be sold on. We will cope with Johnson and Aurelio at left back or Carragher, Agger and Skrtel in a 3 at the back.

Therefore there won't be any more signings unless a deal for Enrique becomes available for the right price. Expect Jovanovic to go to Anderlect, El Zhar will be off to Europe somwhere as will Degen who will be allowed to leave for free as well. We are also accepting bids for Nathan Eccleston, Tom Ince and Gerardo Bruna. Daniel Pacheco and Shelvey will be sent out on loan as will Daniel Wilson if the right deal for him is found.

LFC#1

17 Jul 2011 12:25:43
hey ed with suarez still in the copa america does that mean that he could miss the sunderland game and arsenal game? {Ed002's Note - He will be given time off after the Copa America before he needs to report back to Liverpool. There was always the thought that any players EPL clubs still have in the competition at the end may miss the start of the season.}

17 Jul 2011 11:56:46
Hey Ed, just wondering what are our current options.? we need a centre back, a left back and a right winger, do you know which players could fill these? I was thinking Gary Cahill, Cisshoko, and Juan Mata...
YNWA. {Ed002's Note - I think Cahill would be an excellent buy if a deal could be struck - and I guess Scott Dann remains otherwise the favourite. Cissokho remains a possibility if a LB is sought - but there is no deal completed as is being reported. Mata is primarily a LW and Downing was the number one target. I really do not see him joining now Downing has arrived.}

17 Jul 2011 11:46:32
Ed, do you know if there is any alternative options for left back? other than Aly Cissokho {Ed002's Note - A bid was previously entered for Enrique that came to nothing - so perhaps he could be considered an option. Izaguirre was mentioned a lot in the past. Perhaps a deal involving Aquilani could be struck over Vargas?}

17 Jul 2011 11:45:51
Jay Spearing is the same type of player as Cattermole, can tackle just as well but has a much better all round game and isn't in danger of missing at leapst 5 games a season through suspension. Plus look how Coady has been doing on the Far East tour, been immense. Even with a midfielder or 2 leaving in this window were still very well stocked in that area. If Aly Cissokho signs all and good, i'll be happy as hell, but if not i belive like Macca said that a left back aint a priorty and i agree with him, my own feeling is that we a top class dominant centrehalf with a left back second on the list, but think we would cope without one.I think with Aurileo, Robinson and Johnson able to all do more then just do a good job as people put it The only problem a player of Aly's ability and potential and age come dont come on the market for a price that Lyon seem to be looking for so very often, so maybe we should be making more then enquiring about him and make a bid. Like i said we really dont need anymore centre, mids, defensive or otherwise. A Scott Dann, Gary Cahill type centre half if not one of those 2 is a must as the Far East Tour showed, defo not Lee Cattermole. Jonson6

Hi ed you may have answered already with regard to aqua and insua do you see any future at the club for them like another poster i thought aqua showed a touch of alonso (i know poor opposition) and playing centre where meireles wants to play but we may get more money for mereles and aqua might be worth a go .
regards and thanks for your effoerts {Ed002's Note - Aquilani has made it abundantly clear that he wants to leave and the club have been trying to facilitate that. The issue is that nobody seems keen to take him on, with the exception of a possible loan to Fiorentina. I don't know what is planned with Insua.}

I personally know Lee Cattermole's girlfriend as i went to Runshaw College in Leyland, near Preston with her, which is around the time they got together, when he was at Wigan, I can asure you that we were interested in the past but baulked at the £12M price, and that we are definately not interested now, he is regarded as a lesser Lucas.

N'gog will only leave if it to sweeten the cissoko deal or on loan and aqualani will be staying at the club.

Hearing strong rumours that we could bid for ganso at santos what do you think eds? {Ed002's Note - Sorry, it is not going to happen.}

17 Jul 2011 11:08:15
ed just clarify to everyone we are not in for lee cattermole like a story says on the oficial website ...another midfielder? {Ed002's Note - I would be surprised to see any bid go in for Lee Cattermole.}

17 Jul 2011 10:55:53
I'm very excited cos i've just spoken to a very good anfield source, and he said that we are still very much interested in several transfer targets and we are looking to bring in at least 4-5 top players by the end of the window... Great news

17 Jul 2011 10:47:41
hi eds please post on rumours page.Do you think that people are going to far saying aly cissoka is a done deal.Do you think there is a good chance of him at least signing by the end of the windiw thanks {Ed009's Note - It is certainly not a done deal, we have not even bid yet as far as I know, but we did make an enquiry and there is definite interest in the player who is available for a fair price. We could well see a deal done, but it is a good possibility, not a certainty.}

17 Jul 2011 10:40:17
A week ago I was told by a decent source that Enrique was a done deal, to be delivered by this weekend.
Not sure I was all that excited, especially after his performance at Anfield last season.
However this seems to of gone away now, do you know who backed off, Liverpool of Enrique?
Also with the obvious quality coming in with the young lads are we £10mil+ desperate in this position?
RIP96 {Ed009's Note - I believe it was a combination of both parties being a little more tentative about the deal. Newcastle's crazy valuation for a player in the last year of his contract, along with his lacklustre performances towards the end of the season may well have put us off a little, but the player himself has already stated he would prefer a Champions League club. It is also important to remember we would be liable to allegations of tapping up if we signed a player Thommo claimed was signed on before we had even negotiated with the club.}

17 Jul 2011 10:34:49
What's with the Lee Catermole rumours. If we signed him it would overload us with mid fiels players even more. Having said that I believe he is a different type of MF player to what we have.

Hi ed, Liverpool could be set to make a £10million move for Lee Cattermole with the Sunderland player devastated at losing the captaincy to new boy John O'Shea. And
Dalglish is also looking abroad for young talent and is poised to bid for young Swedish centre-half Alexander Milosevic rated at £1.5m by his club AIK Solna.
The Reds chief sent his top spies to check out the 19-year-old last week and have opened talks with his club about bringing him to Anfield. What do you think of this rumours? YNWA YNWA, I lve my beloved Liverpool. Jay {Ed002's Note - I think a bid for Cattermole is most unlikely. There has been plenty of interest in Milosevic from Arsenal and Werder Bremen but he is young and pretty inexperienced. I don't think that Liverpool could be looking at him for the first team - perhaps one for next year.}

ed's: Just wondering if there is any chance of bidding for Honda, Quality player (IMO) and think could be got at quite a good price i know he would rather spain but do you think we could have any chance. (Midfield packed but only got stevie g as attacking mid and if the deadwood do leave and the kids get some loan time be a great addition)

Thanks (First time poster) Great site

TruRed {Ed002's Note - Liverpool may have blown their chance of Honda in January when he was available for about £8M. Although it is coming up to mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player says he wants to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. I don't see a Liverpool move happening at this time.}

hi ed , have we any interest in jeffren from barcelona, as ive just been reading that bolton have had a 5mil offer accepted , surely at that price he would be value for money whats your thought ed . cheers jeffo.. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Sevilla and Napoli have also shown an interest. If an offer is there from Sevilla or another Spanish club, then I suspect that will win out over a move to Bolton or Liverpool.}

Hi ed hello from a sunny cape town I was just wondering with Neymar joining Real Madrid does this mean that jose could possibly offload Benzima and could he be a target for us?

I like N'gog but he is lacking something. {Ed002's Note - Reports of Real Madrid having "signed" Neymar are wide of the mark - all that exists is an agreement between Perez and Ribeiro at this time, although it seems likely that a deal will be struck for him to move in January. As to the availability of Benzema, I think much will depend on what happens with Tevez and whether or not Real MAdrid are interested in him. Regardless of that, I really don't see him moving to Liverpool this summer.}

17 Jul 2011 09:39:40
I know it is only a pre-season friendly but Aquilani was very impressive yesterday. He absolutely controlled the Malaysia game and created most of the chances/goals in the second half. I know there is lots of talk he wants away but on the evidence of yesterday he could provide creativity we need generally and were missing in the 1st half. 90%+ of the voters on LFC TV thought he was man of the half.

Eds, what are the chances of him staying?

Grayswood {Ed002's Note - Not good. The club are looking to sell the player, but are struggling to find anyone who is interested. Fiorentina remains the best hope.}

Transfer round-up for liverpool here...
Liverpool made an enquiry 9 days ago according to my source in france and is expected to make the move as early as monday. Liverpool are also looking at DJ Campbell, who would cost liverpool 1.25 million, this would see Ngog going to QPR on loan. Another player that seems to be coming in is defender, Gary Cahill, liverpool are monitoring his situation and if no other club makes a move in the next few weeks they will bid for him.

Hi ed,

I was just wandering what you make of these cattermole rumors he is a rubbish and always gets red cards surely we don't need any more CM's and really need a left back do you think there is any truth in this rumor its in nearly all the sunday papers

Thanks
Raj {Ed002's Note - It strikes me as unlikely.}

17 Jul 2011 03:04:48
id say at most 3 more players will be coming in 2 some what depending on outs these 2 are a cb and another winger and could be anyones guess the other and main priority should be a left back if these Cissokho roumours are true i for one am over the moon a cb and another winger are needed but we are not desperate thats why we will wait for departures in my opinion Ed macca or anyone who wants to put your opinion in do you know anything about Cissokho? what do you think of the downing signing i for one am very pleased by it? and what waydo you see us lining up next season?
please answer if you can
l4l {Ed002's Note - An enquiry had been made with Lyon about the availability of Cissokho - this is about 10 days ago. Since then Lyon have gone off to a training camp in Austria where Cissokho was due to join them and didn't; returned to Lyon to train where Cissokho did not show up - albeit the club were not expecting him to; and today they have played and lost a friendly with Genk in Belgium. The fans have certainly turned agaisnt the player in recent weeks. Cissokho's agents were informed last week that they need to find their client a new club and that Lyon would listen to offers. Other clubs who have shown an interest include Benfica, Juventus and Roma but nobody has made an acceptable offer as far as I know - at least up until yesterday evening. I very much doubt that Liverpool will be completing a deal this weekend but there has been interest - which has been discussed exhaustively over the past 10 days. I am certainly not aware of any bid being accepted.}

Mathew Upson - free agent - Worth a punt?

Matthew James Upson (born 18 April 1979) 32 is an English footballer last attached to West Ham United. He is a central defender and has played for England at international level including 2010 World Cup.

"At the moment only Matthew Upson has left, " he told BBC Radio 5 live.

How he ever became an England regular baffles me Utter crap

Depends on his wages. He's better than some premiership defenders.

I just hope the G-Cahill deal goes through asap.

I'm not into heroin but I'd rather be a smackhead than sign Upson.

I think our CBK issues lay with Manchester City.

Nedum Onuoha or Micah Richards. If we can one of them. Our defense will have abit of power again.

Getting Onouha would make me feel a lot better about our defence next season,

why liverpoll not bid for Pastore {Ed002's Note - Liverpool cannot afford to bid for Pastore and there is no chance that the player would make the move.}

RE: Lee Cattermole.

Great player, bit like spearing has a good engine on him. I would like to see him at liverpool for £10 million.

But i think the papers are making something out of nothing. He reasonality got upset about losing captins armband to John O'shea.

I don't think it will happen, We already bought Henderson and sunderland have spent that money well. They don't want to buy more players. Bruce is happy with his squad. We would have to pay over the odds to get him anyway. Eg £14-20million. I really don't see it happening.Plus he is the engine room of that sunderland team. Can't see steve bruce letting him go

Morning Ed's

Well if Rumours are to be believed we may possibly sign Cissokho as our new Left back.Would be a good signing IMO. I still think we a are missing a couple of players and I hope we will address this

Winger (Johnson)
CB (Cahill or Dann, prefer Dann)
Striker ????? (prefer Barrios)

We may the departures of the following
Poulsen, Cole?, Jovanovich, Ngog, Rodriguez, Aquilani, Meirelles.

Im not sure about the cole one as He could be the left winger and downing on the right?

A bid will be tabled for Adam Johnson when Citeh have purchased Nasri & Aguero

Cissokho will be signing also

Heard from a reliable source that Liverpool have tabled an offer of around 18m for Gary Cahill.

Thoughts Ed?

17 Jul 2011 00:15:40
Evening all.

With Cissokho looking as if he will eventually be on his way to Liverpool and Comolli saying suggesting we are coming to the end of our tranfer dealings, I cannot help but think our recruitment policy is not quite right. We now have 9 centre mids battling it out for a maximum of 3 starting positions (Meireles, Gerrard, Shelvey, Spearing, Lucas, Henderson, Aquilani, Adam and Poulsen.) Do you think we maybe should have not invested so heavily in that area before we knew we were able to get rid of what we already have? We desperately need a new centre back as Carragher is now 33, or will be this year. No matter what John Henry says, Ngog is not up to par as a backup striker. We also need a right winger in my view which would then allow Kuyt compete for the striking positions.

Above all, we have only one man that can produce moments of "magic" and he of course is Suarez. It is this lack of flair which worries me as we have missed a tricky winger since Benayoun. If we look at our top 4 rivals, they all have several players capable of this and they are who we are up against.

What do you guys think?

Great site btw.

Liverpool will bag Cissokho and a CB possibly Cahill.
