hi eds ,any interest in Kevin Strootman cheers ant {Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Liverpool took a look at Kevin Strootman last season but tentative enquiries were met by a reluctance to sell so soon after arriving. His performances have attracted further interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, Valencia, AC Milan, Schalke 04 and Hamburg. I expect him to move to Manchester United or Milan in the summer.}

17 Dec 2012 22:46:41
Any interest in delefou

Great site thanks from all liverpool fans
PHILpip125 {Ed002's Note - Yes, but not from Liverpool.}

17 Dec 2012 22:39:12
Any chance of signing Munoz, Kalas or varane as long term replacements for the likes of carrager {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any Liverpool interest in Munoz but obtaining a work permit might not be easy and Palermo would, I doubt, want to sell. Much is expected of Kalas and I doubt Chelsea would want to sell. Much is expected of Varane and I doubt Real Madrid would want to sell. You are not getting these from some game or other are you?}

Haha yea, you know I thought exactly the same thing ed....I'm sure those 3 names are near the top of the list when you search CB aged 17-20 on FIFA13 lol

18 Dec 2012 13:21:50
Yeah Kalas is absolutely awesome on fifa 13 we should have our scouts play the game instead of wasting there time traveling the globe. Leem

17 Dec 2012 22:38:08
Hi Eds.

Are or have Liverpool ever sent a scout's to watch Facundo Ferreyra from Vélez Sársfield ?

Thank you

WhyamImrsparkle {Ed002's Note - Velez Sarsfield's Facundo Ferreyra has attracted the attentions of Juventus, Catania and Inter Milan this season with Inter making several alternate proposals to take the player to Italy including a part ownership agreement. Inter are actively looking to force the transfer by making a recent offer to Banfield to purchase outright their 50% share of the player.}

17 Dec 2012 22:47:43
You lot are all mad saying we are watching Gomis of Lyon, Rodgers has told downing he can leave if he wants, and we have been linked with Michel Bastos before we need a left back/ winger to partner and cover Enrique what a pairing they would be together he is still only 29 so still got a lot to offer trust! Dev Red

What if we are instead scouting Lacazette (21 yrs old ), the left-footed French youth international who is playing RWF for Lyon. He looks an interesting prospect. Also, we might conceivably be scouting Gourcuff who is actually playing LWF for Lyon, NOT in midfield. At least that is where he was playing for the recent St. Etienne match.

17 Dec 2012 21:44:30
Anthony Pilkington will sign in January fee of around 6mil. Source is a family member knows the family. I presume Downing will leave.

Pilkington will not sign!

Probably get Karl pilkington instead

Joeyk

I family member who is obviously dreaming of a Red Christmas!

17 dec 2012 21:30:32
hi eds and reds,
which one player (realistically) would you like us to sign in january? i'd like shane long or alexis sachez but sanchez is unrealistic.
and who do you think is most likely?
of everyone id say possibly sturridge
also, ed was tom ince not previously a liverpool player whom we sold young for minimal money?
also, we must be interested in a left back with downing going nd enrique being used on the wing? any names for us eds?
finally, any hope of llorente? he is not being played, unwanted and contract running down and no big teams want hom any more? i think he would be a good signing , although i thought that about andy carroll...

thanks for any reply eds
ryanthered {ed002's note - ince was a liverpool player ryan. there is lots on llorente in you use the search function.}

17 Dec 2012 19:18:35
What is the current status on huntelaar and villa. I know that we were interested in villa but he broke his leg so what will happen now with him? {Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

Neither will happen mate

17 Dec 2012 18:58:33
eds,
is there any interest still in klaas jan huntelaar or edioson cavani also is marc ter stegen going to replace reina
damightyscouser {Ed002's Note - I am sure that there would be interest in Huntelaar, but I suspect he might not be a viable option. There has never been interest in Cavani. I am surprised so many people in England have even heard of ter Stegen - but I don't know of any plans for him to be replacing Pepe just yet.}

Ter Stegen is brilliant, as i have said many of times if Reina were to leave then he would be the only one that could fill his boots, if i were Liverpool i sort out weather Reina wants to leave or not and try and sort a deal with Ter Stegen to join.

BigD

Ter Stegen got him on football manager class but I think most people on here pluck there names from there.
Dreamers.
Redrooster

Ter Stegen is massively overrated on Football Manager, probably why people ask about him so much.

None of those players will be plying their trade for liverpool in the near or distant future!!

17 Dec 2012 23:34:14
it called fifa 13 ED

Yep defo FIFA he is great on there...

Team of the Year in Germany.
Touted by pundits to replace Neuer in coming years.
Helped Moenchengladbach to have on of the best defences, with Dante who has moved.

Also is world class on football manager, FIFA and what other game there is.

Ben {Ed002's Note - Right, he plays for Moenchengladbach - not a team I would expect English supporters to know much of. If you want one to watch for the future, try Eintracht Frankfurt's Kevin Trapp. Someone who is very knowledgeable in the subject also mentions Fortuna Dusseldorf's Fabian Giefer as being a goalkeeper who we could hear much of in the future.}

He has looked awesome on Bundesliga highlights on ITV4

Another good goalkeeper from germany is tobias sippel. think thats his name. was understudy to trapp at kaiserslautern.

Funny enough, Ed 002, as I always purchase Kevin Trapp for my FIFA team to take over for Pepe. Ted Stegen and Leno are always a little too pricey ;) {Ed002's Note - There we go - another Trappite. And to be honest, Jay Leno is not as fit as he used to be.}

17 Dec 2012 17:56:12
Ed002 there are reports that lyon want to sell gomis. We have reportedly scouted him, do you see him as a possible signing? {Ed002's Note - See previous answers please.}

17 Dec 2012 17:53:56
Chris in tamworth thanks for the reply went to bed after I posted early start this morning,(boo!) definitely agree we that we need a couple of the right signings a poacher would be nice & a right winger would take Nathan dyer with our constraints budget wise,seen the Sanchez links would love him but think it unlikely,would love James McCarthy with his dynamism remember him giving us the runaround 3 seasons ago & aldo gave a shout for us to sign him at the time & maybe coutinho (work permit issues considered)for that imagination when defences are deep &
tight,with budget constraints & a lack of champions league,think we have be realistic & shrewd with what we do thanks again for the reply chris, here's to the fulham game,hope the reds can put it right eh?
Paisley's genius

Hey Paisley's thanks for getting back isn't it nice to have a calm and considered conversation? Some others on here should try it don't you think?

Chris in Tamworth

Personally when I look at Sanchez you have to take into account many things.

He has flopped at Barcelona; particularly due to the style they play not being direct enough.

He would be on extremely high wages, 120k+ plus whatever other bonuses he would be offered.

The fee would be 20m+ obviously Barca wouldn't mind unloading him and trying to recoup as much as possible.

He still performs for Chile so the risk would be smaller than if he was flopping for club and country.

Would he even be interested in leaving the best team in the world for a team unlikely to be in the CL next year.

Waiting for the summer would surely be easier for us, loan is unlikely and tempting him to move in January when they are essentially guaranteed the title would be hard.

Just my opinion on Sanchez.

Ben {Ed002's Note - You failed to mention he had injuries in his first season and minor problems this season (the past month). When fit he has been in the squad.}

17 Dec 2012 16:56:37
Decent source at West Brom says that we are going to move for James Morrison in cash plus player deal involving Hendo and/or Downing.

Interesting to see if this materialises and what the deal would look like.

Highly rate Morrison and would be happy to have him at LFC.

RedSquirrel

Yer but not if we had to pay money and give a player who cost us somewhere in the region of 15-20 million.
Redrooster

On the basis that we over paid for that payer, we might end up paying a bit. So if you value Hendo at £8m (off from £15-16m, silly over valued), then we might need to pay up a couple bucks for JM.

How is Morrison better than Henderson

James Morrison? Surely you mean the artist. Signings like him are the reason we sit in the bottom half. Don't give me the potential nonsense we need proven quality.

No. 19 here we come!

James Morrison, the missing piece!

I think Morrison is a great young player who is far more rounded than Hendo or Downing.

I wonder how many people who post on here actually watch football?

Morrison has been excellent this season.

He just sign a contract extension to 2016 this year.

17 Dec 2012 16:42:17
Walcott agents have told AFC he is ready to leave in January. He also told AFC he will not move aboard and LFC is his 1st choice.

LFC93 {Ed002's Note - Twitter perhaps?}

Twitter Hater ed002.

Move aboard what?

Well 90% of what was reported on Twitter was rubbish in the last transfer window so you can't blame him.

17 Dec 2012 23:02:25
@indykaila

not perhaps, it's definitely from Twitter.

17 Dec 2012 16:04:59
Liverpool are thought to be selling before buying in January. FSG have requested a small clear out because of BR not being given a sufficient amount due to what has been brought in with the funds avaliable in the past. Players to be leaving are thought to be Downing, Pacheco and possibly Henderson however I myself would keep hold of him till the summer and see if we can get something out of him. Players to be thought to be realistic targets are obvious in Sturridge, Ince and suprisngly John Walters of Stoke I know he's the odd one of the three but he seems a firm favourite of what BR is looking for and may be able to be bought for a decent price.

Dave Lennox 96

I have never heard such utter tripe...hold on a minute, yes I have :)

Absolute rubbish. Henderson won't leave and Jon Walters to me a favour

Our biggest problem, said by rodgers many times, is not having a big enough squad. unless we bought 5 players to replace 2 this is nonsensical.

SuperDuperSuarez

Also, Walters is an Everton fan...

Walters is an everton fan!! and ? so was carragher, owen and mcmanaman.

And not good enough
Redrooster

Walters? He can't shoot for goodness sake!!

Walters would be a brilliant signing. A hard working player who has all the capbablities to cement a first team place at Anfield

Hi Eds & any Reds that may know the answer:

I remember reading a few times that the Eds believe Honda would be available for a move away from his club, and at a relatively low price. Given that he is young (26) and highly versatile, why have we not seen any clubs (not just Liverpool) make a move for him?

is he just not that good? ownership issues?

Cheers,
ForzaRed {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were very interested at one time but may have blown their chance of Honda in January 2011 when he was available for about £8M. During the mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player said he wanted to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. This summer we saw enquiries for the player have been from Lazio, PSG, Sevilla and Palermo. It seems to be the longest running of the Liverpool (and Arsenal) related "rumours". Honda was close to leaving in the summer with a move to Lazio only failing at the last minute and I understand that Lazio would still be interested at the right price. He has had a bit of a strange season in that he has been scoring goals but his performances have been criticised - which seems to have put off Dortmund who have taken a recent look. If you were to ask if I expect Honda to move to Liverpool in January the answer would be probably not.}

17 Dec 2012 15:08:15
Hey eds, any truth to the Sofiane Feghouli rumours doing the rounds? Is there a decent chance we may have a go for him? Top player! {Ed002's Note - Valencia's Sofiane Feghouli is stalling on signing a new contract whilst his agents scurry around looking for interest in the player as leverage or as an alternative to Valencia should he be sold. A number of high-profile clubs have been approached to see if they would be interested in the player but it would be nothing but speculation on my part to suggest interest of not. However, Paris Saint-Germain has made more than one approach for the player and Valencia has set a deadline of his departure for the ACON to resolve the matter. Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Southampton and PSG have all considered Feghouli but have been told that he is not available.}

17 Dec 2012 14:59:05
Hey eds, heard walcott has told arsenal he wants to move in jan and his preffered destination is LFC, you heard of anything? {Ed002's Note - Of course not.}

17 Dec 2012 15:36:07
Pure speculation eds but wondering if you know of any interest in Marc Muniesa? Given his availability, youth, price and Rodgers' knowledge of Barcelona he seems to me a logical signing as back-up left back/centre-back. Keep up the sterling work, hope you're all having good Christmases.

Red Ollie {Ed002's Note - Is he fit? Has he ever played for the first team? No, I don't know of interest.}

Football manager latest star youth player?

Muniesa is injured. very talented left footed defender was on his way to ajax last summer on loan but got injured.
ajax bought moisander from az on the last day

17 Dec 2012 13:36:01
Not LFC related but just out of curiosity is anyone interested in Alex sandro of Porto he has played brilliantly whenever I have seen him play. Thanks ed

KopEndDannyLFC {Ed002's Note - Nothing but rumours and nothing involving Liverpool.}

17 Dec 2012 13:34:35
Dear ed's, this isn't strictly Liverpool related, but I have wondered for a while now why clubs ,Italian clubs especially, are so interested in player ownership deals? I don't really understand why they want 50% or whatever of a players rights and I can't see the benefit of it. Could you please shed some light on this? {Ed002's Note - It means they only, in the example given, pay half of his transfer fee.}

Ok Eds, u answered that person's question, but i want to add, what "benefit" is there for the selling club of this??. Using this logic is akin to me walking into a Laptop store and telling the salesperson that i will pay "half" of the price of the laptop. Its ridiculous!!. Clubs must really tell these Italian losers to pay the full amount or forget the transfer, no club should want 50% and for that matter 99% of their valuation of a player who they wish to sell. You dont see Man Utd buying RVP for half the price Arsenal valuate him at. Yes there are negotiations which can slightly reduce the fee by a few million, but to offer half the money just goes to show that Italy(in this example) isnt as rich as we make it to be. Hell, i even believe QPR is richer than Inter and AC Milan...=) {Ed002's Note - As is often the case the selling club retain part ownership - and therefore the chance to raise much needed cash immediately and to potentially profit further in the future. Your analogy is far from good. You also need to know that it is not allowable in England to have part ownership of players - hence your comment about Manchester United is erroneous.}

17 Dec 2012 13:27:53
Llorente appears to be greenlighting us with his recent quotes. How realistic is it that we'd move for him, being that hes now 27 and on high wages. Seems like a rare opportunity to bolster an average 1st XI with a marquee signing for comparatively cheap (highest bid for a player who will soon walk for free, and isnt even playing for them any more). {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Llorente saying anything about Liverpool.}

He has gone on record saying that Liverpool wanted to buy him last summer but that Bilbao had no interest in selling him. He also denied reports of talking with Juve and of his interest in English football, and the positive reports that he has gotten of it, in particular from Xabi Alonso, who was pivotal in getting Sahin to come. Obviously I'm sure he wouldn't be adverse to Spurs, Chelsea or Arsenal who may all move for him, but it sounds like positive language to me... {Ed002's Note - He denies the discussions between Bilbao and Juventus? Astonishing stuff.}

He hasnt said anything about liverpool! Just that he remains open about a move to the prem with arsenal, chelsea and spurs as well as liverpool being interested in the player! {Ed002's Note - Ok.}

I would love to see him at LFC. He's like skillful Carroll.

The only thing he has got in common with carroll is they are both over 6 foot

His full name is Fernando Llorente Torres. No kiding, check yourself if you don't believe me. Oh the irony, Liverpool is made for Fernando Torreses, lol.

I dont see the difference between him and Carroll honestly. I bet my house that Carroll would score with ease in Spain. Besides, we need fast, agile strikers who have a poachers finish. I would rather Sturridge than this guy as personally i am fond of strikers with pace and finishing than height and power. Why do you think Walcott wants Centre Forward??. He knows how deadly he will be in that position as just a simple pass from someone skillfull will mean a goal. You can question his scoring as well as he scores a minimum of atleast 10-15 goals a season and that too as a winger...

OP here. Allow me to rephrase; he denies agreeing terms with Juventus, and goes on to mention his interest in English football, having spoken with a certain Mr. Alonso. You said you hadnt heard of Llorente mentioning Liverpool, well then here; "Liverpool came to Bilbao and spoke with the club, but it was obvious that they weren't going to sell me"

-Luken {Ed002's Note - That is a long way from you saying he denied talks with Juventus. And you might want to share when Liverpool went to Bilbao - two years ago. I would hardly consider that a recent quote - and the Liverpool manager at the time was Roy Hodgson. This really is hopeless.}

Im not sure what wages he would be on, but then that would be a bigger stumbling block to Spurs, and arguably Arsenal who already have 5 senior strikers, a backlog players they want to move on, and a lower current wage cap than Lfc. The 2 Manchesters wouldnt actually be interested and Chelsea woudnt have him as 1st choice, so in my eyes theres a possibility, not that Im holding my breathe.
-Luken

Do you know how much spurs pay gareth bale? He earns a lot more than the said wage cap!

Ed 002 you said you wasnt aware of llorente saying anything about lfc well the poster before was just quoting what he did say about liverpool which you odviously hadnt researched irrelevant what he said but he had spoke about liverpool {Ed002's Note - Fine you want to make something of it. I took the time to read his original post, and embarrassingly it seems you did not. His very first sentence reads "Llorente appears to be greenlighting us with his recent quotes." Now just for a moment let us focus on the word "recent". In the big scheme of things "recent" is a subjective term. In the history the universe mankind has only been around recently. In the life of a fruit fly, "recent" s when I started typing this reply. The reference made to Liverpool about Llorente was in regards to the club making an approach to Bilbao two years ago. This is not "recent" in footballing terms.}

17 Dec 2012 13:26:10
any interest from br in a left back? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

17 Dec 2012 13:25:02
Hello Eds.
Hope u have a good day.
I just read that lfc scout were present in lyon vs psg match to watch gomis. Hw much interest in him and do u expect him to move to lfc in jan. And whats ur thoughts on alexis sanchez and villa.
Thanx. Plz do response. {Ed002's Note - Bafetimbi Gomis scored three goals in a game a few weeks ago when we understand Liverpool had scouts at the game - but it was supposition that they were there to see any particular player. Chelsea had someone attend this weekend's game to look specifically at Gomis. I don't know if any bids have been made but Lyon are seeking to raise some funds.

My veiws on Villa and Sanchez are easy enough to find.}

Ed002 so do you think gomis is a possible jan signing for us? {Ed002's Note - Many things are possible.}

17 Dec 2012 13:45:17
Downing is off to Celtic in January.

Part exchange for wanyama

Or perhaps swap for Hooper?

17 Dec 2012 13:44:32
Is P.Coutinho of any interest to us?
Ta
Jamie {Ed002's Note - No.}

17 Dec 2012 13:01:56
ed, will christian eriksen be moving in january? It seems spurs are going to sign him.

thanks {Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Spurs, Inter and AC Milan have shown some level of interest in Eriksen in the past year or so. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan and Spurs remain the most interested clubs and Manchester City may well return for him again. Back in July the Milan Press Office were convinced of interest from Manchester United and they have let it be known that they expected a bid to be made by for Eriksen. Expect both Milan clubs and Roma to press if a bid is made by Manchester United. The player remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam for18 more months before moving to Spain but would likely jump at the chance of a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona if the opportunity arises. Ajax will not let him run down his contract so a move beckons. With only limited options for January, I suspect the player would wish to see out the rest of the season at Ajax and see if he can attract attention from Spain.}

Lots of stories in the south seem to support that statement at the moment! But with him saying he would like to stay to the end of the season but things may change and vertonghan talking to him on a regular basis! Although I remain sceptical at the moment! I'm also told walcott may put pen to paper soon on an arsenal deal?

We've already got enough central midfielders

17 Dec 2012 12:53:10
this kid arkadiusz milik of gornik zabrze looks a good young talent can put them away too.any interest from br in him? {Ed002's Note - No. Gornik's Arkadiusz Milik has attracted the attention of Celtic, Norwich, Hannover, Borussia Dortmund, VVV Venlo, Everton, Juventus and Udinese. However, Bayer Leverkusen will almost certainly take the player in January regardless of Inter and Torino looking at a late bid to buy 50% of the player's rights each.}

17 Dec 2012 12:25:12
Tom Ince and Daniel sturridge look the most likely to sign.
Possible Jeffren on loan as well.
This is what ED's are saying for a long tym now so instead of boring them read this post.
-md

I'd love Tom Ince but not Sturridge

17 Dec 2012 12:19:55
Are Liverpool still interested in Moussa Sissoko? {Ed002's Note - Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko has previously attracted interest from Milan, Arsenal, Lyon, Roma, Genoa, Liverpool and probably Napoli. Damien Comolli went as far as letting Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool saw Sissoko as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard - but for some reason the club failed to make the final push to buy the player. Sissoko remains available (as he has done for two years) and Juventus, Newcastle and Spurs have enquired - with a tentative agreement being reached with Newcastle and Juventus over the price.}

17 Dec 2012 12:02:50
Everyone knows about the Sturridge interest, talks, blah blah blah. I have been told (board level) that the final contract issues were sorted on Saturday, and player terms agreed for him to be a Liverpool player in January. Unfortunately I don't know that the transfer fee is going to be, hope it isn't as much as 15 million. {Ed002's Note - I am sorry but you have been misled over anything being finalised on Saturday.}

How on earth can you say you know this from ''Board Level''. Sturridge is not the answer we're looking for more than likely he will be brought in and shoved out on the wing.

17 Dec 2012 17:35:22
I didnt realise Ian Ayre posted comments on here

More like Tom Ince

17 Dec 2012 11:24:06
According to SSN Anelka is in talks over cancelling his contract in china. Anyone think it would be worth while offering him a short term contract with a 12 month option, as a back up to Luis?

5 years ago maybe

I reckon this one ALMOST has legs...he could play anywhere across the top 3...you never know...

LeTrench

Going to qpr!

I would certainly take anelka {Ed002's Note - But he is only 33 and not injured?}

Come on then sell Suarez buy Heskey and Anelka what a partnership

He wouldn't be a bad signing for us. We need a 2nd striker and Anelka fits the bill. Proven premier league striker, possibly a free transfer and importantly he scores goals

Got to be worth a crack, class player and we should have stuck by him during his previous spell at the club.

17 Dec 2012 11:19:54
Ed any chance of Benteke? His a beast of a player. {Ed002's Note - MOTD fever? It won't happen.}

17 Dec 2012 11:44:27
More chance of us getting Messi in

If we sign every player that Reina makes a howler for, we would have signed nearly every striker in the league? The truth is Benteke will probably be nothing special in his next game.

If only - what a signing he would be! Surely bigger clubs than Villa are vying for him!

Just a thought on the Sturridge situation - if he were available, wouldn't we get Benteke for simlar money (10-15m)?!? Who would you prefer!

DJ

I like him but motd fever

17 Dec 2012 11:03:47
In our current situation I firmly believe ince and will Hughes to be 2 crucial signings for the future. Hughes has the ability desire etc to replace gerrars! Sturridge looks nailed on aswel(as much as can be ie Dempsey).hopefully he does the business, but what about defensive cover eds, is there any interest in defenders for january? {Ed002's Note - I am not aware that there is a push for any defenders in January.}

Hughes is being watched by man utd and man city as well as arsenal, spurs, chelsea, everton and newcastle! So dont assume he will come to liverpool!

It's not players for the future we need ,we've enough of them , it's NOW we require them !! Nearly19

Hughes is different class to any young player we have at the minute tho! Supports Liverpool which always helps

Hughes has a great future ,hopefully with L F C ant

17 Dec 2012 10:45:44
I hear that come February we'll have added Ince and Sanchez to our roster. The latter on loan with a €21m permanent option. He is seen as an alternative to Walcott and more of a 'marquee' signing. Barca want rid as apparently, despite costing quite a bit, he doesn't offer any more than their forwards who came through La Masia. Shane Long is also being looked at.

Would love that to be true but I can't see it happening. Even if Barca wanted to sell there would be many teams with more to offer Sanchez lining up at that price. Why would he choose LFC?

Why are some fans so obsessed with 'marquee signings'. The right players, for the right positions, for the right fee and wages are all that matters.

Forget signing 'large tents'.

I'd love Alexis Sanchez and Tom Ince. We need new wingers with Sterling getting a rest and Downing seemingly leaving

17 Dec 2012 10:28:22
Hey Eds, out of interest, though you would see this question asked numerous times, could you please try and list who you truly believe may sign with liverpool in this next window. I don't expect to see llorente or huntelaar, just your thoughts would be nice
RedDownUnder {Ed002's Note - I have said where the serious interest is and really do not want to go through any grief today associated with restating it.}

Rumour has it Ince and Sturridge seem most likely at this time, but things can change.

Port Power!

K79

17 Dec 2012 10:20:38
Hey Eds, I know we were interested in the past, but is there still interest in Roberto Soldado? Thank you for replying to my last request.
RedDownUnder {Ed002's Note - Certainly Liverpool did show some interest in Soldado as did Napoli, Milan and PSG. However, Valencia wanted him to stay and he signed a new deal in the summer.}

17 Dec 2012 10:01:26
Eds do Liverpool (or anyone else for that matter) still have an interest in Nathan Redmond?

I recall his name being mentioned a year or so ago, and from what I've seen of him in the past he looks like a big talent.

But I haven't had a chance to watch much Championship football this year, and haven't heard much of him either. Has interest cooled? Has he lost form?

Thanks as always,

Joe {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest in Birmingham's Nathan Redmond from Liverpool or other sides right now.}

17 Dec 2012 09:04:56
How interested are we in Wilfried Bony? Last time we invested in a freescoring young Eriedivisie forward it didn't work out so bad...;) {Ed002's Note - Wilfried Bony was of interest to Newcastle over the summer and has been a player Chelsea have been considering for a while. Right now there is varying degrees of interest from Marseille, Aston Villa, QPR, Liverpool, Everton and a couple of German sides (Hamburg and Schalke) but I doubt he will move to either. It would not be a surprise to see interest from other teams, possibly Napoli and Roma, but that is all there is at this time. The player has said he would like to join Chelsea but anymove in January is by no means certain.}

Hey Eds, I was just wondering if liverpool were interested in the following players;
1) David Villa
2) Jeffren Suarez
3) Mauro Zarate
That would be greatly appreciated
RedDownUnder {Ed002's Note - (1) A very expensive 30 something who has never wanted to play outside of Spain does not seem a likely target to me. (2) Liverpool has made an enquiry about taking Jeffren Suarez on loan in January. During the summer window Liverpool, Sevilla and Napoli all showed an interest in a loan for Jeffren after his first season at Sporting Lisbon was impacted by injury. Despite rejecting loan moves in the summer he has now fallen out of favour in Lisbon following some poor performances meaning a loan might be now feasible in January. However, given (a) he is not playing well, (b) Barcelona retain and option on him, and (c) he has a ridiculously high release clause in his contract, it would be near impossible to sell him on the Iberian peninsula and it may be tough to sell him elsewhere right now. (3) Certainly a number of clubs have looked at Zarate in the past including Liverpool, Stoke, Spurs, Arsenal, Rubin Kazam, Spartak Moscow, Lille and Malaga. Certainly Lazio would like to be rid of the player would be willing to sell as he has neither settled nor performed well since his arrival. Given his less than good recent form he strikes me as an odd choice if there is current interest from Liverpool.}

Thank you so much eds. that's greatly appreciated. {Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Totally agree with ed002

Hey eds, this isn't transfer news but I was hoping one of you guys could give me a summary on the Anfield upgrade. Has there been any reports on when they will start or anything else? I'm asking you guys coz you all do a tremendous job and it's the only place we get the info we need, luv the info you all give us. Thanks {Ed002's Note - It will be subject to planning approval and whilst you may see some work next summer I would think it will be May 2014 before anything significant starts.}

Hi all:
I know it is highly unlikely, but if Javier Hernandez is truly disgruntled with his current positioning at United, would it be possible that LFC would swoop? Feel like he could blossom here. Also, Are LFC monitoring/watching James Rodriguez of FC Porto? He would be brilliant on the right of Suarez. Hoping for some strong work this transfer window. Feel like things are going to go well. Hoping for the best. Thanks EDs {Ed002's Note - Three clubs spoke to Porto about James Rodrigues over the summer and two bids were rejected. Neither matched Porto's then valuation of the player (30M euro). The bidding clubs were Manchester United and Palermo whilst Bayern Munich looking looking carefully at Rodrigues as an alternative to Dries Mertens who they are keen to move for next summer. There may well have been enquiries from other clubs including Juventus and Napoli. It may be tough to find someone to pay the sort of fee Porto would now be looking for after negotiating a much higher release fee (45M euro) for the player.}

Not a hope of Chicarito sadly. Do you think Fergie would allow that to happen? Really? Great goalscorer in the Fowler mould but not as good, obviously. It would be interesting to see how many he would get if he started every game for a full season.

Eds, I'm just curious here but have Liverpool or are Liverpool monitoring Paulo Dybala or Mauro Caballero or both? I'm not exactly in the know about how work permits are given etc but both are great talents. I'm asking this question because I know the eds have in the past stated we looked at some South American players. Do you think they're as good and capable of meeting their potential which they're hyped up to be?
Thanks heaps!
YNWA!
JS {Ed002's Note - Dybala moved to Palermo in the summer. Chelsea and Bayern Munich had representatives looking at Paraguay's Mauro Caballero at the March 2011 CONMEBOL in Ecuador. His performances, particularly in a qualifying game against Chile, were seen to be impressive and he is one of a number of players from that tournament that the club are aware of or have shown interest in. Offers from Benfica and Inter Milan are both complex in nature with one a part ownership deal and the other a part ownership deal involving three other players as well. If a move in January begins to look likely I would suspect that Chelsea and Bayern Munich might rekindle their interest with offers that include leaving him on loan for a while, and cash offers could be made by both Manchester City and Palermo who have looked at the player but not followed up their interest.}
