thanks 4 the site eds and i appreciate al lur hard work.
im probably just wasting your time but do you reckon that ronaldinho wld still cut it at prem level because i was watching a video on youtbe about all the good things he has done 4 athletico mineiro in 2012 and i think he wld be a gr8 no.10.
can i stress that im not asking about his transfer availability as i no that it wld not happen 4 liverpool to sign ronaldinho but just your opinions on whether he is good enough to play at prem level.
Thanks and lv the site {Ed002's Note - I think he will stay in Brazil for the upcoming WC then retire. Brazilian football is doing very well right now so there is less pressure to sell. What Liverpool needs is the next Ronaldinho.}

Who is the next Ronaldinho??

Ed002 - so Neymar? xD

17 Jan 2013 02:44:54
Perfectly good question and a nice honest answer from ed001. No idea where all the disagrees came from since you clearly were askin the eds what they thought..theres so many people that just disagree with anything i reckon. When i looked it was 1 agree and 15 disagrees...so bizarre!!

I Am From The Same Village As Arda Turan And As I Previuslly Stated I Had Heard From His Agent Who Was With Him On Recent Visit To The Area That, Arda Would Be Moving To LFC. However I Misheard, It Is Now To My Understanding That Arda Was Simply Talking About A Possible Move To The Premier League With In Fact QPR, His Turkish Teammate, Selcuk Inan Was The Subject Of Talks And LFC Had Contacted Gala About A Possible Move.

I Have Recently Also Talked To Arda And It Seems To Me That Fernando Torres Will Be Moving "Home" To Athletico Madrid, A deal Which Will See Falcao Got To Chelsea.

Many Thanks Eds: LFC_Turki

Ed is the ip address from turkey ?

I think its nonsense Qpr won't pay something like £17.8m that Atheltico want.

BigD {Ed002's Note - Clubs do not buy players because they are supporters. Arda was certainly looked at by Liverpool but clearly those that were in control of transfers did not progress any initial interest. Eventually he moved to Spain. We knew very early on that he would be leaving Galatasaray for Atletico Madrid once money had been freed up through the sale of Aguero - although there was strong interest from elsewhere. Arda Turan will most likely move this coming summer subject to a suitable bid being made - something in the order of £18M-£20M. The likely destinations are England and Italy although there remains a chance that previous German interest will still be there and an outside chance of a return to Turkey. Atletico Madrid have already rejected a move from Schalke saying they do not want to sell in January.}

Arda in talks with lazio about possible move he's been offered a five year contract ad a chance to play in the champions league suares rumored to be in talks with PSG about £35 million move

Arda does not come from a village but from Fatih which is a district in Istanbul...

I've heard the fee with Inter is agreed and we're now locked in discussion with Sneijder, who is more than willing to take a pay cut to play, especially in England, but of course he'll hardly be on small wages will he...

The way this story won't go away makes me think it could be true however gatson ramirez comes to mind

And Aguero

BigD

16 Jan 2013 21:21:16
and Torres

If Jenny had have paid 25 mill for augureo instead of Carroll then it would have been money well spent

Or on a more positive note ....Suarez too.

Jonesred

Really hate the argument that we could have had aguero when we got carroll are you taking into account the 100k+ extra a week aguero earns compared to carroll

Someone has beaten me to this put the talks with sneijder are a package that includes some sort of signing on fee and a wage drop to around the 90k mark he dosent want to move to galabut there has not been a bid put in for him as of yet where it will happen or not is up to lfc {Ed002's Note - I don't have time to redo what has been deleted from this morning but as I implied yesterday it was not possible for any other club to bid before today.}

That would be a good move from the club if it were to happen as he would be on a lower wage but the signing on fee would accommodate his wages.

BigD

How come you had to delete it ed002, sounds like it would of been an interesting piece

Ray {Ed002's Note - I didn't delete it Ray but it dealt with the reason why nothing could happen before today, the ongoing issue with Inter, Fenerbache getting involved on Monday, a Challenger 604 and some animal analogies which I did not understand.}

Hmm, it does sound interesting, so ultimately bids can now be made for him (not that I'm suggesting we are/will) I mean anyone, generally...

If you're not understanding something Ed002 us mere mortals have no chance

What people need to realise is that a net 90k wage costs to Sneijder costs the club over 200k.

16 Jan 2013 22:49:22
Also, given the choice of paying someone £3m now up front and paying someone the same £3m gradually over several years?

I would have thought the option to pay gradually is better than paying up front?

I guess it wouldn't hurt other players feelings when they see the weekly pay slip though so that is what counts.

ed heard today we are after Federico Fazio. never heard of him myself but just wondered if you had any info on him?

Dom Lovelock {Ed052's Note - He is a CB for Seville. I dont know of any interest from us in him}

16 Jan 2013 18:50:48
Liverpool looking at Selcuk Inan of Galatasaray very closely, Summer seems more likely however they may put a cheeky 5 Million bid for him soon..
- Rookie

I've always been curious to know what a cheeky bid was? Is it much different to a normal bid. {Ed002's Note - You will have noticed that it is considered fashionable for some guys to wear their trousers so loosely that they appear to be falling off their hips. Ergo, it is a bid made with the buttocks showing.}

From what i remember the Ed's favourite type of bid are those 'cheeky' ones we all crave!

RobInRed

At what exact point does a bid cross into the "cheeky" zone please?

I prefer a proper "swoop" or a "hijack" to a cheeky bid. They're just more exciting. The worst of all is the "smokescreen". Man, I feel cheated when I discover it was one of those suckers. (Fake American accent there)

classic dodgy rumour material this, but here goes...

Sneider has been offered terms to join us, the fee being already agreed apparently. The proverbial ball is in his court now.
I know a lad who's best mates with one of the everton players.
The rumour doesn't come from him though but from someone his dad drinks with who is something or other at melwood. If that's true and he signs we'll have about 50 midfielders. Thanks in advance for the abuse haha.

my first rumour after about 5 years :-)

kev from skem

Wow with the abuse. He might be 100% wrong in his info but his post seemed in Ernest and truthful as to his own knowledge.

No need to slam someone. This is a rumour board after all.

SpudRed

So what does the lad who's mates with an Everton player have to do with anything?

Yeah lad we will have 50 midfielders but the thing is sneijder is 10 times better than 48 of them

The connection is that the Everton players dad is mates with someone in Melwood and the rumour was shared between them two over a pint.

As the OP said; typical classic dodgy rumour. Take it for what it is.

SpudRed

Give the lad a break it is a rumours page after all

Eds what's happened to all the positivity on here, reading most of the comments on here is making me want to get the Prozac out

CoolhandLFC {Ed052's Note - I know. Positivity is in short supply}

We might have 50 midfielders but only about 3 are any good

I'm not going to have a go at kev from skem it's just that he's saying we've agreed a fee and it's up to Sneider while another poster is claiming Sneider wants to come here but FSG won't release the money.Therefore I'm confused about who is speaking with straight tongue as they used to say in cowboy and indian films.

The Plank

Sneijder won't be coming to us FACT
MKLFC

16 Jan 2013 20:43:47
cant see it happening

Ah MKLFC typing FACT in capitals proves you're undoubably correct!

The Plank

I'm reading enough separate smoke filled articles saying that we've put the package together and its up to Sneijder what he wants, that tells me the fire is that we've done just that.

Which sort of ties in to the one actual bit of quotes we currently have from the player saying that he was taking his time deciding and more money was not the deciding factor.

If true, I'm certain we haven't offered him more than Gerrard and I hope we haven't offered more than Suarez, but I personally wouldn't be opposed to us paying him the 120-130K per week.

SpudRed

Leave it another 5 years

How on eartj have 20 people clicked "agree" to this nonsense

Hey eds just a quick banter question. Not Liverpool related but I was wandering do any of the 'money clubs' like City PSG ect ever try to sign Messi ? The thought of a cheeky £150m bid before the FFP kicks in must have been considered. DBol {Ed002's Note - In mid December Anzhi made an offer to Barcelona that matched the 250M euro buy-out clause that exists in his contract, and put up what I am told was a very significant personal package. However, Messi was not interested and has extended his contract with Barcelona.}

I can't imagine any situation in which Messi would want to leave Barcelona. The club would pretty much have to go bankrupt and need to get rid of him, he feels he owes the club an awful lot.

A cheeky £150m?...wouldn't call that cheeky more astronomical and smashing the world transfer record

As Ed002 rightly said, Anzhi made an offer to Barca for his buy out clause and rumoured to have offered him 450,000 per week. Atronomical amount of money but shows that Messi isnt all about the money like some other footballers.... possibly because he is already at the best team in the world

RedKieran

I guess it would be fairly easy to turn down a super mega bucks contract in a cold Russian city when you're paid 13m a year already plus basically any amount you want thru endorsement deals, and you win the Ballon D'Or every year whilst playing in the sunshine.

SpudRed

He was offered half a million a week from what I heard.

It makes me laugh, Anji would never have been able to sustain that kind of contract. £500,000 a week is £26million a year, which is probably more than what Anji bring in - in terms of annual revenue... What an absolute joke these "money clubs" are.

16 Jan 2013 17:35:27
The Italian newspaper Gazzetta has reported that Sneijder will be taking a wage cut to around 80-100 thousand a week to move to Galatasaray if he does, why does no other team seem to be paying any interest if this is infact the truth {Ed002's Note - You need to stop quoting wage figures - it is entirely misleading without considering tax levels and whether the figures are gross or net.}

It may be 80-100 thousand a week but in turkey that will be tax free!

Evening Ed, I was told he would be looking for around £80k per week net, can you tell me what that would mean in terms of a gross payment in the uk compared with in Turkey. Thanks {Ed052's Note - Gross payment would be higher in this country. Just think he will cost circa £200k a week. Its too high unless its down to £150k}

Yep, 6m euro net is the Gala offer. Which is 6m gross for them as Sneijder would be tax exempt. We'd obviously have to pay him more to get him the 6m net or he'd take a pay cut. Incidentally we pay Gerrard about 9m euro gross per year.

Hi eds and Reds, Liverpool are possibly lookin oly for a midfielder. Ince deal is down, believe v has enuf options upfront now. The possible midfielders are Sneijder and Sissoko. The links wit Sneijder are growin strong accordin to reports.

You appear to have some keys missing from your keyboard

16 Jan 2013 17:20:00
ed where do you think sniedjer will end up? {Ed002's Note - Is this like one of those "heaven or hell" type questions? I provided a lengthy explanation early this morning as why nothing would become clearer until today but sadly that had to be deleted. At the moment I would think Gala remains the most likely destination.}

So hell then! {Ed002's Note - You are right to think Yıldırım of Fenerbahce stuck his oar in the day before yesterday.}

I'm assuming you received abuse for what was said earlier? {Ed002's Note - I didn't delete it but it is the most likely explanation.}

16 Jan 2013 17:15:11
Sneijder talks are on.

The fee is not a problem, but doing a suitable deal on personal terms is.

Options such as giving him a large signing on fee of £3m (making initial outlay £11m) and then wages in line with our typical structure are being discussed.

He has no desire to join Gala and is stalling to listen to other offers and deals.

With severe weather forecast over the coming days any medical could be delayed, but hopefully if an agreement is to be reached that can be done by weekend.

This rumour is so bad,, its like tesco trying to flog a dead horse boom boom lol,,, love to see him come to liverpool but it not going to happen,, fsg will not change their stance on youth policy,,

Errr craig bellamy ?

Not sure what Errr means, but thanks for posting Craig

It's a value for money policy, not youth directly. However, buying younger players does tend to give you better value for money. And we are not a youth only team. FSG have given contracts to Agger and Srktel amongst others and they're both 28.

SpudRed

Bugger! What sort of weather are you forecasting that means he couldn't get to England for a medical? Sounds like end of the world weather.Maybe the Mayan calendar wasn't wrong just a bit late.

The Plank

Hey spud red, agger and skertel were here before fsg took over,, they didn't buy them, only old player they have bought was downing,, rest were young players, allen, borini etc, look at the dempsey debacle last year,,, fsg reason,, older player,, be great to see snijder arrive but really can't see it,, pity cause he is class

Eds more and more rumours are cropping up about Pepe leaving in the summer. (1) If he does go, is BR going out for a new keeper or (2) should he keep faith with Brad Jones?

Aaron {Ed002's Note - The summer is a long way off.}

Get rid of him now, Don't wait.

Okay so we get shut of him.Do we play Brad Jones?Only if you don't care about results.Jones is a bread and butter stand in keeper and nothing more.Of course I'm sure some of you in the know guys can tell us exactly where we can find an available top class keeper at an affordable price. Oh yeah more and more rumours are cropping up Aaron and you've just produced another.

The Plank

Steklenberg seems available right now {Ed002's Note - Fulham look like making a move for Stekelenburg instead of Butland.}

We could do a straight swap - Andy Carroll for Tim Krul.

Re Krull what makes you think they'd let him go to get Carroll?

The Plank

IMO we need to go after one of the young German standouts to replace Reina should he leave. ter Stegen would be my pick but Zietler and Leno are good options too.

Plank I didn't produce a rumour, I was stating a fact and asked a couple of questions. Bit of a difference lad

Assiadi will defiantly leave in the summer he want to play on a regular basis and he was not a BR signing. Someone gave his name to the owner and they were advised he was worth a punt. Unfortunately with his injurious and lack of game time it simply has not worked out.
Murton Red

I thought he was at the African Nations?

He will be defiant when he leaves? lol

I also heard a while ago he was not a BR signing. With Chang now gone and Sterling's breakthrough, I could see him being moved on quietly. I think we could make profit on the £2.4m paid for him. Overall is a shame really. RC

Odd then, that when he signed, Assaidi stated that Brendan Rodgers convinced him to make the switch to Anfield.

Not worked out he has not been given a chance in the team.

BigD

Who's signing was he then? Shall we call him one of hodgsons. Of course he was Rodgers signing of are you trying to say he was signed behind the managers back. Some tits on here

Ant

Are you trying to suggest Rodgers didn't sign a young, tricky, lightweight, not good enough for the premier league (yet), on the cheap player? Really? Sounds like his style.
Seriously though would be a shame if he left. The boy's got potential.

I've always wondered why people get defiantly and definitely confused...

That murton red is karlton81 i believe. RedTurk

Assaidi on his way out? Its a loan deal, that means he going to get experience of first team action at a team where he will play.

Doesnt mean anything to suggest he is on his way out.

Youngsters go on loan and became decent players like Beckham, Lampard, Hart etc.

Assaidi goes to the ACON does well there, gets a loan move to Ajax, wins the Eervidisie etc and then comes back to LFC when Downing has left and may get the chance to shine.

How come Rodgers stated when he signed him that he had been scouting him since he was at Swansea?

Manali Cream

Didnt realise 24 was young anymore... {Ed002's Note - It is if you are my age - my kids are older than that.}

This is brilliant. The die hard BR fans are now excusing all bad signings and implying that others made the deal. He was signed towards the end of the window, clearly a panic buy and another waste of money. BR managed to throw approx 30M down the toilet over the summer and comes out smelling of roses.
Wake up everybody

Is it just me our does it seem like transfers fees are coming down eg Remy was being quoted at 20m last year & there was a 28m bid turned down for Yann M'Vila, Now they are reportedly going to QPR for 8m and 7m respectively. Also Sneijder was said to be worth 30m now 8m will buy him. I am not saying there won't be a few players out their that would command a big fee but clubs are beginning to realize with the fair play rules coming in you just can't go round spending lots of money on average players it just dosent make sense. with this in mind i think LFC will be in a good positions to compete in the future.
Just a thought does anyone els agree?
Murton Red

Makes you realise how ridiculous 'buying British' is when Blackpool price Tom Ince in the same bracket as Inter do with Wesnley Sneijder (not accounting for wages obviously).

The M'Vila and Remy moves to QPR absolutely wreak of foul play and have Redknapps mucky paw prints all over it (or should that be Rosie's paw prints)?

I can see another Tevez/Mascherano situation raising it's ugly head come May!

Liverpool mite be able, to compete but not when players like sneijder mvilla and remy aren't even considered by us... We buy championship quality or overrated British prem players..

I'm sure LFC will find a way to still pay big transfer fees. (ALLEN, BORINI)...if F$G release any money

Not sure we paid 35 million for Carroll, 20 million for Downing, and 16 million for Henderson...

Wait a minute you are probably right as they are all worth about 3 million each!

Steve068

Teams are getting them off the wage bills, and getting rid of nuissance players. Nene will have likely been sold for pittence too as he's throwing tantrums at PSG.

Quite frankly, we don't have the ground capacity and gate receipts, sponsorship and global fanbase, champions elague revenues we need to keep such players on their incomes.

It's better to get good young players on low pay contracts and let them mature uunder suarez, stevie, agger, reina than paying £100 000 a week to some one that may or may not cut it, and causes trouble.

These transfer figures have come down but by the time you add there over £100,000 plus wages per week it still results in the same figures just more money to the player

We must buy Sneijder.

Harry to keep QPR up

M'villa is not that good and coupled with a bad attitude Rennes want rid at the best price. I have spent some time in France and he cannot pass for toffee and is a hot head. He is no better than what we have.

Pompey Red

Clearly some people just don't understand certain situations.

M'villa has baggage. Huge fallout with the french national team and a serious drop in form has seen his price drop significantly!

Sneijder has a big falling out with the inter management and has only played 5 times in the league this season. Commanding a huge wage, Inter just want rid of hence the cut price.

Mvilla is playing right now for rennes, i very much doubt he will be at the premier league by end of jan {Ed002's Note - There are a number of clubs watching him and Mbiwa tonight.}

17 Jan 2013 00:00:45
@ "...if F$G release any money"

What the hell is that statement supposed to mean? Are you claiming that Liverpool managers have been given no funds to compete in the transfer market over the last 2 years? Or are you simply an embittered little xenophobe who refuses to acknowledge that there is a world outside his front window?

FSG rescued Liverpool from the brink of administration and should be thanked for that...not despised for being from a different geographical location.

Don't forget that they didn't blink at shelling out £23million for Suarez, £20million for Downing or (God help us) £35million for Carroll - the tight, miserable gits!

eds any interest in gerard deulofeu from liverpool ? looks like an excellent prospect. {Ed002's Note - Not from Liverpool.}

Someone plays Fifa...

He was awesome as Cyrano de Bergerac.

Has barely improved since he was 'the best 15 year old in the world'. Expect him to drop further off the radar before moving on.

16 Jan 2013 14:03:55
Hi Eds,

We are looking at Ince AND Jeffren. This suggests we want 2 more players who can play across or in a front 3. We already have Suarez, Sturridge, Downing, Borini, Assaidi and Sterling. 8 player for 3 positions is (in my opinion) excessive depth, as it will be impossible to keep them all happy, and Sterling will likely end up a fringe player.

Which is why i'd like to make a suggestion. I know Rodgers isn't exactly going to read this, and I'm not in control, but I think It'd be great for Sterling to go on loan to QPR.

My reasoning, is that Harry Redkanpp is known for getting the best out of pacey wingers in his system, and QPR is Sterlings first club. I think he'd relish the chance to go there, play first team football, and help his old team stay up. I aslo believe he'd come back a much better player.

This is all hypothetical, because if we don't sign any more forward players, or Assiadi and/or Downing leave etc, Sterling can be used as a rotational player or impact sub, which is what we lack.

I just don't want to see him rotting in the reserves to accomodate gold diggers like Ince, and temporary solutions like Jeffren. I'd much prefer us to sign one more wide player and sell Assaidi (or just use Assaidi more), and use Sterling to our own gain.

YNWA! (Adam)

Hmmmm...of that group Assiadi and Downing would be the 2 out in the cold, leaving us with Borini, Suarez, Sterling, Ince, Jeffren and Strurridge. 6 player for 3 positions. Ideal. Assiadi to Ajax as part of the Erikson deal (dreaming) and Downing to where ever.

Absolute nonsense comment! Why would we loan a first team regular to QPR! Our squad is thin enough! Every game Sterling plays he gets further experience on Rodgers' philosophy and formation!

Say he did go to qpr and they managed to get themselves relegated, imagine the psychological effect it may have on the young lad. i'd rather him sit on the bench coming in the last 20 mins.
Our wingers/forwards are: Assaidi, Borini, Downing, Sterling, Sturridge and Suarez. that's 6 players including an 18 year old who needs a well deserved break, starting a couple games and coming off the bench for the rest. One more players in the 20-24 years old bracket would help with perhaps a midfielder or left back cover needed. We can think of further replacements and a GK with Reina supposedly off to sunny spain end of the season.
RedSox69

16 Jan 2013 14:40:21
I just don't want Sterling stuck behind Suarez, Sturridge, Borini, Ince and Jeffren; He is better than 6th choice!

Rodgers has already said he is looking forward to having Borini, Strurridge and Suarez ("all my goalscorers") in the team. So Sterling is out the first 11 already. Jeffren won't come on loan to sit on the bench, and Ince left to play more football.

I have clearly stated that I would much prefer Sterling to stay and be a squad/first 11 player, but if we sign two more forwards and don't sell some, I fear for Sterlings first team place. And i don't want another Gonzalez/Leto.. Promising the world, but never played enough to succeed.

Please read and comprehend the post before you reply, I have explained the scenarios in which I'd like him loaned out, not just wrote 'pack his bags!'...

YNWA! (Adam)

Sterling is a reserve player currently, he
's only 18 and should be playing in the under 21s league and perhaps 20minutes at the end of an unimportant game. he's not impressed me much.

Loan Sterling?

Sterling is a decent player with great potential but he does not win us games (yet). Personally i think he would suit a 4-4-2 better with us playing on the counter. His speed would create havoc. If we carry on playing the way we do I can see his opportunities over the next couple of seasons being limited if more forwards are brought in.

pompey red

Sterling has been outstanding this season, to come into a team playing badly, having a disastrous start to the season he has been a breath of fresh air... He is lacking in experience and it shows as sometimes he seems indecisive of what to do with the ball... Pass, run, shoot, come short... This is something he will learn with game time, but his talent, there is no doubting that... He needs a rest too as he's played so many minutes for such a young lad... Ive said it before, UTD and Fergie built from youth... look at his team from the early 90's, they all played at youth level with each other for years... It looks like our best option for longevity and success at our club... We have so many talanted youngsters coming through... Give them your support and watch them flourish! The only think our team are missing is the 12th man... The fans 100% unconditional support, through thick and thin! Lead our players by example and give faith in them...

Probably get slated for this but I don't think sterling is ready and to be honest I don't think at the moment he is that great I think every top side he has played against he has been next to useless and should not be relied apon too much. Tak225

If we dream of champions league then we need them all, every top team has these choices if the players want to play for a top team then they have to adapt to these conditions and from what i can tell, our young boys understand this more than some give them credit for.

R2TB

We have been in dangerof overusing Sterling too much allready. At his age playing all the time could be damaging to him. Rodgers has indicated he is likely to play less in the second half of the season, and that is as it should be.

If we were to loan him out to relegation strugglers he would most likely play lots more, so that would be a seriously bad idea.

Hi Eds, I know you've done this to death, I'm also sick of reading about it. But a website (g**l.com) just reported that LFC held 'constructive' talks with Sneijder's representatives on Monday. You hear anything about this or is it nonsense?

Thanks in advance

Manali cream {Ed002's Note - It has been done to death. I understand that everything g**l.com has about the lengthy and meaningful meeting with Sneijder, his mother and her labradoodle on Monday comes from a misunderstanding by a lipreader of something Forren said to a reporter at Heathrow airport.}

Come Sneijder

16 Jan 2013 10:41:55
Ed, any firm LFC interest in Siem De Jong? {Ed002's Note - There were rejected offers made by Galatasaray and Fortuna Dusseldorf for Siem De Jong and whilst the player has been subject to general interest from a number of clubs, my understanding is that no one else has put an offer on the table at this time although Newcastle are indeed interested. I would suspect the summer is a far more likely time for a move.}

16 Jan 2013 10:39:36
hey eds, is there any interest from liverpool toward aubameyang and muriel..both are quality striker with good years ahead of them.. {Ed002's Note - After a year at St Etienne Aubameyang has attracted the attention of Fiorentina, Manchester City, Manchester United, Zenit St Pete, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Spurs and PSG, probably amongst others. He has said in the past the one day his dream would be to return to play with a great Milan side. I didn't see him leaving the Geoffroy-Guichard in January but I understand that if a significant bid is made that St Et will give it due consideration. Such a bid is being pondered by Fiorentina but a summer move seems more likely.

There was plenty of interest in Luis Muriel over the summer but none I am aware of from Liverpool. Added to that he has signed a new long term contract at Udinese.}

Not sure I want Muriel on the back of my shirt. Can't we sign Yaya Banana or Wagner Love?

cozinoz

16 Jan 2013 11:00:06
To bad we don't have QPR's money....M'villa and Remy for 20 million is good business in January. Thankfully we have Allen and Borini who only cost 26 million :) {Ed002's Note - Another two inform players missed then.}

A lot of people are talking about QPR making these signings, but what they aren't thinking about is the wages and clauses attached. People may remember that Demba Ba signed for West Ham for just under 6 million in January and left for free in the Summer because they went down...is that good business? I guarantee you that both players will not be playing in the Championship if they get relegated? Is that money well spent?

I wonder what kind of contracts they're on...Probably on contracts that they really deserve as they're in such a vein of "form".

Alex

common ed...i challenge you..in another remaining 16 games..remy and mvilla will be miles ahead of allen and borini...

Ed..you are a really wise person with good footballing knowlwdge..
what on earth are you rating borini and allen? {Ed002's Note - I don't recall "rating" Allen and Borini.}

16 Jan 2013 11:44:35
In form? Remy has scored 2 in his last 24 games!

I expect Joe Cole to do better than Allen and Borini before the end of this season!

Allen and Borini will be at the club for more than six months.

Joe allen is a good player and will become even better under brendon

16 Jan 2013 13:15:02
There's two reasons why they're going to QPR:
1) They pay very good wages, better than other clubs can offer - greedy players do LFC really want the type?
2) At one point M'Vila was linked with some top top clubs such as Arsenal and Spurs, as was Remy, if these clubs wanted them they could easily snatch a deal. But they haven't and that's because they're form is not great, hence would be a risk. No doubt it looks pretty good business for QPR but if they came to Liverpool, i'd be uncertain.

Hate these posts. So disrespectful and then the poster questions the eds knowledge.

I don't think this is a liverpool fan though. If it is, its a 12 year old FM player.

I think they er missed your point ed

it wasnt wasted on me

dave

These to players ain't getting bomb out of there clubs on the cheap because they're playing well. Remy has scored two goals this season & M'Villa is a disruptive influence on the squad. You also have to question there desire & ambition, going to a club that are most curtain to go down. Maybe money talks & they'll have relegation release clauses. Both seem greedy to me

Too bad QPR will be relegated and heading towards bancrupcy after paying over the odds on wages to players whose favour can be turned with the promise of a few quid more!
Not the players or the management i want at my club!
ItsNotRocketScience

Both m'villa and remy will miss playing in PL next season :)

Well, if against all common sense, Remy and M'villa are any good then we can buy them for even less than QPR paid during the summer.

Brilliant - the best post of the year so far - we have Allen and Borini.
Unfortunately this has summed up our season, funny but painfully true
G

Remy one goal this season

So its reported that Riise has had a bust up at Fulham. LFC don't have any world class cover for Enrique at Left Back so this to me would make a perfect fit.

Riise should never have left us in the first place. {Ed002's Note - Ideal "world class" cover.}

World Class....he wasn't that in his prime let alone now.

Clearly you haven't watched Riise play recently then! He can't defend, that's why Fulham want to replace him! The only Left back he would cover for us is Left back in the dressing room!

Mate, you really should be thinking of other sports, darts or chess perhaps .

Totally agree mate, the last world class full back I can remember us having is Djimi Traore

You don't remember his shocking form towards the end of his time with us then squire?

we shipped at the right time believe me. ask fulham fans

Riise is pants! His demise at Liverpool was painful to witness...World Class!?

Okay so you took what i said literally. What I mean is as we don't have any decent left backs at the club (we would all prefer Johnson on the right), why not bring in Riise as his cover? He is adored by the LFC faithful, I've never seen an away player given a standing ovation and old songs sung like I did when Riise came back to Anfield with Fulham this season.

He would be rejuvenated by a return to Anfield and gives us an attacking threat down the left hand side. {Ed052's Note - Your point is floored the minute that you say we have no decent left back cover. Have yoy seen the amount of quality youth full backs we have?!}

Your point is flawed when you say "youth". If they were ready to fill the void, why arent they playing now rather than having Johnson at left back?

Ed, now this might infuriate the Anfield fans, but i don't rate Robinson that HIGHLY as others make him out to be, if he was, then he must be getting some Premier League games, not like Sterling has, but atleast must have played about 2-5 games whether as starter or sub. In my opinion that Luke Shaw fella of Southampton can really make it, i have seen him play and he looks to have ALL the features that Leighton Baines of Everton has, wicked left foot, can attack and defend but attack better, free kicks and best of the lot is that he has some physical prescence, so good for the corners...

Riise wouldn't sit on the bench at his age!

Well no, Riise would play whilst Enrique is out, he knows Liverpool etc and then when Enrique comes back, Riise provides a competitive challenge for Enrique. Riise coming back to Anfield would also free up Downing to leave if he chose to.

Hello Eds,

Just couple questions.

- Is it true regarding swap deal, Assaidi + cash to Ajax and S.D. jung to Liverpool? I think might be true since Rodgers always scouting Eredevise.

-If liverpool looking to bring attacking mid or likely another winger?

Thanks Eds.

petric svar. {Ed002's Note - (1) There were rejected offers made by Galatasaray and Fortuna Dusseldorf for Siem De Jong and whilst the player has been subject to general interest from a number of clubs, my understanding is that no one else has put an offer on the table at this time although Newcastle are indeed interested. I would suspect the summer is a far more likely time for a move. (2) There has certainly been interest in wide players, so yes I think there is the intent to do that.}

16 Jan 2013 09:45:29
I don't think we have any chance of signing Sneijder. There must a number of team trying and it will clearly come down to which team want to pay the most in wages and as soon as the bidding starts we'll be out of the race. He will most likely end up at City or UTD.

Dude...listen CAREFULLY...nobody wants him! He is obscene in his demands. For Godssake let that seep through your skull because it should be understood that he is truly mercenary!

Its reported his preference is spurs?

Hi Eds,

Story in the irish press this morning AGAIN with regards Liverpool looking at Waynamia (spling) of Celtic also young Mathews the welsh full back the got from Cardiff. Have any of use heard anything about these rumours? {Ed002's Note - I would expect Wanyama would want to see the season out in Scotland - but there has been interest from various clubs so we will need to wait and see.}

Why would we want another defensive midfielder with Lucas and Allen? Even if we were going to play 4-2-3-1, there still wouldn't be a starting place for him.

Cheers Ed002, i hope this is true as o think these two lads would be good enough. I have watched Celtic on a number of occasions and young Mathews looks a crackin player. He can also play LB or RB worth a look me thinks.

Id love to see someone like Wanyama come in. Lucas is getting back to his best, but for the big teams i think we need another stopper to break up play.

16 Jan 2013 12:46:12
Hope so, wanyama is a class act

Spelling on the spelling

16 Jan 2013 08:41:48
snejider isnt coming to liverpool nor is torres
likely incomings are gameiro and sissoko

16 Jan 2013 08:46:56
could we get Milner? {Ed002's Note - There would need to be interest from teh club and there is none we know of. So unlikely.}

Ed001 can you please get Ed002 to type THE and not TEH its really really annoying after a while :) {Ed002's Note - The problem is that I type very quickly and it is a common mistake that is made - in everyday life autocorrect or my PA would put it right for me.}

Naughty Ed002! Looks like you're going over Ed001's kene! :-)

Seems a lot of people jumped the gun on Forren

Matty W

Why? As far as I can see Forren is still to trial with us whilst Southampton have yet to confirm they have agreed a fee. Whether they agree a fee or not it seems the media (as usual) are the ones to jump the gun because THEY are the ones that indicated LFC had bought Forren when we had only invited him to trial with us. My personal view is that we are not likely to bid unless Coates moves on and even then I'm not sure Forren is an actual target. {Ed002's Note - There is no week-long trial and never was, Forren has other commitments this week; Southampton's bid was in response to a bid from Everton. You need to move on.}

The funny part is that when he was 'nailed on' to come to us all the comments were along the lines of 'cracking player', 'will be a great player for us', 'can challenge agger and skrtel'. As soon as he's announced as being off to Southampton it became 'wasn't good enough for us anyway' - Eds, I feel for you during this time of year!

Thanks Ed002 for the reply...but can I ask why a huge number of the press went with the 'trial' story if there actually was none? Are they getting that lazy that they couldn't be bothered to make appropriate inquiries? {Ed002's Note - These web pages you read are just duplicating a story from elsewhere and most are not "press". Any enquiry would have easily found that any week-long trial was impossible this week with the other commitments.}

Hi eds. Can you sum up the situation with moussa sissoko and why he's available so cheap? People were once talking of him as a replacement for gerrard.
Thanks {Ed002's Note - Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko will be out of contract in the summer so his value reflects that. He has previously attracted interest from Milan, Arsenal, Lyon, Roma, Genoa, Liverpool and probably Napoli. As you note, Damien Comolli went as far as letting Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool saw Sissoko as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard - but for some reason the club failed to make the final push to buy the player. Sissoko remains available (as he has done for two years) and Juventus, Marseille, Aston Villa, Newcastle, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow and Spurs have enquired - with a tentative agreement initially being reached with Newcastle and Juventus over the price. Juve probably have the edge right now but would much prefer a pre-contract for a summer move whilst Toulouse look to renew his contract. AC Milan may well push for a January cash move with both Marseille and Aston Villa looking to get in with an acceptable offer first.}

16 Jan 2013 07:27:02
John Arne Riise may become available according to BBC.
I would take him on short term cheap contract as back up left back, has still done well for Fulham at 32y/o and keeps himself fit.

16 Jan 2013 08:23:02
He can't defend. That's why we got rid of him in the first place.

Have you WATCHED him play recently?

I'm with you. Thought the same myself would love him back.
Johnty

16 Jan 2013 09:38:05
Riise should never have been sold in the first place

No never watched him play before in my life, I just say things for the sake of it!

Behave you lot.

He was slow and overweight before he left and now he's slower and bigger.

DaveyBootle

Did you see him against liverpool? Downing ripped him to pieces. Yes I said Downing!

You are living in past, surely our scouts can find somebody young and hungry for that position.

steve068

I wouldn't have Riise back, have you forgotten his feeble display against Downing last month?

Hmmm, my original comment was only half read by most then!
I said SHORT TERM BACK UP! Read the words I write!
Eds, I do not envy your work at all!!

Haha he had possibly the most shocking game of his career against us the other week... I think he is over the hill now dude.

Hi ed's With blackpool getting knocked out by fulham in f.a cup, and a lucrative game against united in next round gone (if Man Utd beat west ham), do you think the ince deal will come to a conclusion ed's, or will it be a last day deal?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - Whatever happens with Ince is unrelated to the FA Cup. Again, we cannot predict the timing of transfers.}

If we believe that Blackpool are unwilling to reduce their £8.5mill (in some papers) asking price. Do we REALLY want ince? I'd much rather wait until the summer and try to get him cheaper then. Blackpool sold us a cr*p player in Charlie Adam for a small forturne last year. It seems like Blackpool like to take the p*ss out of us and I would be happy if we would for players elsewhere and I wouldn't send any of our young players there again {Ed002's Note - I would somehow doubt Blackpool can be held responsible for Kenny Dalglish wanting to buy Charlie Adam.}

If ince signs it will prob be on or after the 28th as blackpool still have 2 games in jan why weaken their team until they have to

Hi Eds, sometime ago they are looking at Park Chu Young. The reason why Arsene look at him and bought him is his ability to link up play in final third. But he has fallen totally out in Arsenal squad. If his link up ability is what attracted Arsenal, I am sure BR is looking at the same quality for his style of play. Is he a possibility ? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool and I would doubt he is an option right now.}

16 Jan 2013 04:22:42
Hi Ed's Regarding Coates and Assaidi, its that they want out due to lack of playing time, personal issues or BR and LFC trying to offload them ?
May be they don't see them as future LFC players? {Ed002's Note - My understand it is no more than lack of opportunity. I don't know about Assaidi actually wanting "out" but I understand that Coates wants to see what opportunities are available to him.}

Who are you and why try to make trouble? Assaidi has not expressed any discontent and is at CAF for the 2013 tournament.

16 Jan 2013 00:10:58
I get a bit of info of a mate who knows a few ex irish footie players and they have said huigan(spelling)will be sorting out a deal over the weekend with LFC I hope its true doubt it tho but if its true hope they unveil him at the norwich game because I will be there YNWAJON96

I hate to say mate, but even though mourinho and BR ae good mates, I unfortunatley don't see higuain coming to LFC

"[A] mate who knows a few ex irish footie players"? Great source, then, for what's happening at Real Madrid. We can go ahead and say that's yet another "100pc going to happen" deal so.

15 Jan 2013 23:48:09
I'm sorry to bother you again Ed but do we really have no interest at all in Sneijder or do you think we do hold an interest in the player but don't want to release it to the media?
Cheers mate,
DublinRed(sorry for being a pain!) {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware, there is no interest, nor do I understand why anyone would think we would have interest in him. It was not that long ago City rejected his wage demands for being ludicrous. Yes Man City found him too expensive!}

But saying that ed, circumstances change so he may consider that it's galatasaray or a wage drop for a better league I.e premier league {Ed001's Note - he has shown little interest in anything other than money.}

That is true Eds but if he is being forced out and would rather come to premiership than Gala, and subsequenly is willing to drop demands...then why would we not have interest?

Don't get me wrong, i do not think it will happen but personally would jump to get him should the wages be fair
gareth {Ed001's Note - can anyone explain to me why a player who has one good season is suddenly the greatest thing in the world? He isn't coming, he will almost certainly complete a deal to Gala in the morning and be glad.}

Wherever he is going, will inter be subsidizing his wages, similar to us with aquilani or joe cole? If so, that could be a factor in his intended destination!

Daveevad {Ed002's Note - Inter will not be paying any of his wages.}

16 Jan 2013 16:19:45
controversial Eds! one good season?!
Bit harsh, the guy is world class when fit and playing for sure, but each to their own. And your right, he won't come here but i sort of knew that anyway, just wondered if you rated him or not
gareth

Ian ayre has been interviewed in the last couple of hours, talking how fsg policy on recruiting players is right,,, another media ploy by fsg as they know the interest from liverpool supporters on signing snijder,, so snijder will defo not be comin to liverpool and that's the end of that {Ed002's Note - I think you have just reread the previous interview where IA stated Liverpool had no interest in Sneijder.}

15 Jan 2013 23:36:52
Could Iagos become an option should neither the Ince or Jeffren deals materialise or is he just not the type of player we are after?
Cheers

15 Jan 2013 23:20:01
I don't know if this is true, but my brother-in-law, who is French, insists Liverpool and others have been watching Montpellier left back Henri Bedimo. Anyone heard anything?

Djmi {Ed001's Note - this rumour was about in the summer, sure it is not just being recycled?}
