The Telegraph is reporting that we will look to build a new stadium using the original plans from 2003 as a basis(AFL design not HKS), but modernising the interior design.

RedSG

How true are these reports, as I know Macca has been saying we are redeveloping Anfield instead??

Hopefully it's this version of the AFL design:

www.liverpool-rumours.co.uk/lps_270.php

and not the very, very first one that looked a bit like the Reebok.

-Shane. {Ed016's Note - I thought we were redeveloping too. I Know they had architects in last year for people wanting to know where I got my info from, they were looking at the Annie road end and the Main stand}

AFL changed the original 2003 design to a new generation design a couple of years ago and it looks pretty impressive
ted

I'll be honest. I'm not a big fan of either, but if I had to pick, I'd choose the HKS design, purely on cosmetics. The AFL design looks too much like the Emirates and Eastlands in many ways.

Like I have said in my previous posts, macca is wrong and we will definatley be moving to Stanley Park, it's the future if we are to compete on a level playing field...

The Grand wizard...

Macca is not wrong...FSG merely conducted a feasibility study for a possible redevelopment but the council has not been as accommodating as could be (or as they were expected to be). Izain {Ed016's Note - you are not going to become a new Macca by guessing on something that was 50/50, easy for you to lurk in the dark}

Ed016...'lurk'?? I'll have you know I 'peep' from my dark corner, lol. Thanks for the chuckle '16', Izain ;)

Liverpool go for original Stanley Park stadium. sounds feasible:

Spurs want 20 million for defoe, HA HA, absolutely laughable, they have been told they have to pay 22 million for remy and they don't like it so if we want defoe it 20 million for a player turning 30 this year, what drugs in daniel levy on, moron, please lfc, don't go there, {Ed016's Note - not worth the socks he plays in}

The Defoe story did have me worried for a bit, but then you just have to look where it stated from, The Mirror. All they have done is looked at Liverpool needing a striker and Del Boy trying to sell Defoe. Lazy journalism at its finest, though it does raise the question what the difference between a good rumour and total BS.

always a red

You really don't like the guy do you ed? Haha {Ed016's Note - is it that obvious?}

I hope to god we don't sign him lol!

Ed 16 you are a person just do yourself a favor n quit talking {Ed016's Note - whats the point in making an abusive post? they don't bother me, say what you want.}

They must be tryin it on coz they think kd is a mug with doe... which he is basically

peter

He's the same guy who saw us pay 20 million for Henderson, 20 million for Downing and 35 million for Carroll. He is also the guy that made us pay 21 million for Robbie Keane only to buy him back for half that 5 months later.
I would name a ridiculous price too as we seem to have no problem getting robbed and paying way over the top for players who are not worth it.

Billy

20 mill for defoe, is laughtable... But I am worried that kenny, will spend this kind of money after buying players like Henderson, Dowining and carrol with a large amount of fee..

No, Kenny won't buy Defoe for 20M. End of.

ed can you confirm the rumour that fc groningen have confirmed texeira has met lfc officials.DORSET RED {Ed016's Note - I can not confirm sorry. I checked their website and nothing really, checked twitter and a lot of english posts but not many dutch which leads me to believe it may just be the media milking what Bruce Grobelar said recently}

Hi eds and reds, is it possible for joe cole to make his move to lille permanent in this window? I'm asking this cos it might help us if we do go after Sow. Cheers. {Ed002's Note - No. Perhaps the summer.}

16 Jan 2012 22:12:29
eds a reliable source in miguel castro says meetings are good with defoe and is a real possibilty, says his source is from a pal who works at the club, and apparantly got last january correct, what do you make of this? please post cheers eds

yoyo123 {Ed016's Note - He is not reliable, just did research}

Hes reliable. {Ed016's Note - well then I pray he is wrong}

He is a fool, According to him we should have signed Hazard and Scott Dann by now. Another wanna-be spouting s**t all over twitter.

Daniel Rogers.

16 Jan 2012 22:02:11
hi eds. Just wondering if it is worth waiting till the summer for moussa sow. Could we do a swap deal with joe cole going the other way? Cheers, True red. {Ed016's Note - He is at the ACON, I believe Senegal will go far I think it will be hard un till the summer, but it is never out of quetion, there is interest}

16 Jan 2012 21:50:38
moussa sow to come in january as well as defoe or texeira and couple of other triks kennys got up bhis sleeves

Defoe will only come if spurs can get a replacement.

16 Jan 2012 21:12:25
ed is soldado still a target {Ed002's Note - Certainly Liverpool have shown some interest in Soldado who is having a good season but his availability in January is by no means certain. Milan were also interested in the player but have perhaps been a little distracted by Tevez but PSG are beginning to see if Soldado could be attracted to Paris. At about 25M euro or more Soldado would not be cheap.}

16 Jan 2012 21:25:23
Hi eds, wondering if theres any truth in the reports that we are interested in Fernando Llorente? Do you think we could afford him and if he would be sold? {Ed002's Note - I expect Llorente will stay with Bilbao.}

Llorente is being looked at but i do not expect him to be a primary target

The emergence of our interest in this young south american from the Eredivisie has basically resolved Maccas rumour. I'm 90% sure he means Coutinho as we wouldn't buy two 'prospects' to resolve our striking issues!
This striker seems likely to be David Texeira. Not a bad young player imo.
Coutinho (if i'm right and it is him) was tipped by Rafa to be the future of Inter Milan, and he always had an eye for young talent.
As for Sows recent comments, it is clear he would love a move to Liverpool, but would we love the move? With Comolli's connections it'd be plain sailing should Lille be willing to release the player.
My Question therefore goes out to everyone on the site (Ed's, Macca, Regular posters and anonymus posters)..

Do you think that:
Sow, Texeira and Coutinho would be enough to push on for fourth place? My answer is yes, but I think we may see a couple of players leaving to. Hopefully Glen Johnson/Dirk Kuyt and Aurelio.

YNWA! (Adam)

Why would glen johnson leave? lol

Sadly one of RAFA's young talents he had an eye for was the awful Nabil ElZhar and lets not forget that!His insistence on keeping a talentless no-mark cost us a bomb when he handed Nabil a new contract!

I think all three would be good especially coutinho and sow I no not enough of texiera to judge but can't see more than two coming in also has lodiero been written off?

Square tomato

Your getting mixed up, macca claims that we will get a young striker from inter milan, bruce grobbelar on the other hand has said we will be looking to bring in a young south american from dutch league {Ed016's Note - put 2+2 together and get 57. I reckon he Bruce heard south american or dutch league player. }

I love KK but just because someone is a well loved and respected Liverpool legend doesnt make him a great manager. {Ed016's Note - But his records do! DO you poeple not realise what he brought back to this club, something that was lost for almost 20 years, he brought back the liverpool way, Rafa almost did it but the owners overshadowed him. }

Glen johnson?......why?

I think Glen Johnson has been fantastic this season, our central defence has been solid enough for him to get forward comfortably and he NEVER lacks in determination.

NB Red

Why on earth would you want Glen to leave?

Martin

Good good I agree with you idea , but why Johnson to leave he is the best right defanse in England ? {Ed016's Note - He is not, simply not}

I think you will find it wasnt rafa who agreed on nabils wages, contract lenght yes, wages,no!

Why don't we just use Johnson as a out and out winger, obviously no one on this site rates him defensively, it seems like the easy solution to me, can anybody give me reasons that we don't. I thought this for the last 18 months but I'm obviously missing something.

Bentam

All 3 look exciting young talents but how long would they take to get used to the Prem league ?

Glen johnson has been an integral part of the 2nd best defence in the premier league this year! he's also been awarded a couple of man of the match awards of late too. people say he can't defend for s**t but how many goals has he actually been responsible for this season now that he is fully fit? not many, maybe none!
kenny has no hesitation in being ruthless but he has hardly bothered to replace johnson with a superb young martin kelly, why's that? because he is playing an integral part in a great back 5.
s.p

When did rafa have a talent for youngsters name just one good young lad that came through.

I agree with all of what u said there mate anytime johnson gets the chance to put it in da box for big andy he goes inside and frustrates me so much! Y.N.W.A

Carroll, Henderson and Downing are all used to the premier so can you possibly quantify the benefit of that experience?

I attend everygame at anfield and I think glen johnson has been awesome all season on the ball he's as good as any fullback his workrate is excellent get off his back and support him

U have same idea with me, but i think we should not sailing Johnson, he have a talent to push liverpool to top 4.look to johnson recently performance, he was good at in front. So we can push him at RW.

Johnson is required, he's having a great season!

Kuyt & Aurelio yes.. I would also let Adam & Maxi go..

In the summer we need further coverage in for Agger.. Carra isn't quick enough anymore (he's had a hard time in games this season) and Coates in my opinion is at least 2-3 yrs away from being good enough!

We need a creative midfielder & striker in Jan I think Texeira, Sow & Coutinho would be good.. not worth purchasing from other PL teams, Adam, Downing & Carroll havent performed.

I think Carroll and Downing will come good but Adam doesnt have the skill or passing we need in that position! {Ed005's Note - If Johnson's defending this season is considered great bearing in mind he is a defender then the standard of defending has dropped.}

Rafa just had an eye for talent masch alonso lucas arbeloa, we need lucas back he was the new masch and he was getting very good at the passing aspect aswell

Sow isnt happening .. Coutinho , Texeira & Hoilett for me {Ed016's Note - can you then give them to Liverpool?}

To the anonymous poster, go through Maccas posts and he says nothing about it being a striker from inter milan. As for ne getting confused, no i think you are mate. If Grobelaar is right and we are after a young south american striker from the dutch league, why would we also sigb coustaignagos.. would two young prospects solve out striker problem? No, hence why i think we are after a young attacker, 1 young striker and a proven poacher. Just my opinion. As for Glen johnson, you guys should use the search bar and read into some of the things his contract stipulates. Kelly is a far superior player, and Kenny knows it. As for Rafas eye for young talent... Erm Reina, skrtel, agger, mascherano, lucas, alonso, riera, torres were all under 24 when we signed them and the current academy we are so proud of was built buy Rafa Benitez. Why can't people accept what he did for the club? He has some bad buys yes, but Aquilani was the only big money flop, and one of few we didn't sell for more than we bought. During his entire time at Liverpool he had to sell to buy. And he consistently kept us top 4 net spending a couple of million. Kenny has had basically limitless funds since he arrived! If the money has been needed, its been provided, and we're still 5 points off 4th. Dont get me wrong, KK deserves more time, but dont Knock Rafa ffs. We re couped all £200m he spent between about 10 players. Masch, Torres and Alonso made £100m back between the 3 of them. Morning rant, OVER.
YNWA! (Adam) {Ed002's Note - Adam, you may need to look again at what Macca responded to questions.}

Haha, that adam fella wanted his rant so bad he failed to even read maccas second post where he clearly states that the young forward plays for inter!

Just been watching LFC TV and an article on Kenny and his contribution to the club and in particular after Hillsborough. The man has been with this club through thick and thin and has never let us down. I think he has earned a little patience and respect from all of us. So although things may not be perfect just yet and a few results haven't gone as we would have liked, we need to stick by him as he has stuck by us.

FT

Hear hear

King luis

Well said mate

Never a truer word said.
You deserve credit for speaking honestly and truthfully.
Kenny deserves our trust and patience. As he's been through more than most PEOPLE face in their jobs.
A possible wembley final. Utd in the FA cup to beat. Don't stress about Champs Lg, we're not ready. {Ed016's Note - this generation do not understand what he did, what he gave, he almost lost his sanity, poor guy with ALL that pressure on him. Massive respect for the man, he knows what he is doing, if you can't see that then how could he win a title after what he went through? he did so if that does not prove he knows how to manage a team then you have not a clue!}

Dont judge kenny until he has forfilled his three year contract if he and his backroom staff have not done what is required then j.henry will get rid .then you can question kennys ability .but i dont think you will ba able to,they will come good mark my words cheers psv

I agree, to be honest I think most of the people calling for him to be sacked are just idiots, he's been in charge a year, we've gone through a massive transition, these things take time, the progress we have made in phenomenal, when you think of us this time last year, we now have the best defence in the league and if our strikers were hitting the net we would be in a title race, he has got it wrong on occasions, but he is human, I'm sure the lads at FSG know this they're hardly going to sack him and put the rebuilding process back to square 1.

Gman82

Completely agree with you, I honestly can't fault Kenny since he's returned, this season, with the exception of the Spurs game and the recent Man City league game, we've been playing decent football, creating chances and dominating possession. All we're lacking at the minute is a top quality striker to hep put the chances away. People need to remember that we're still a work in progress.

NB Red {Ed016's Note - Semi final, still in FA cup and 5 points off of 4th is not terrible for a first season rebuild, I will support this club till I die, I can be patient, I have time}

The fact that even a few people disagree with this annoys the life out of me! If we have a bit of faith and be patient then the trust and commitment will be justified in the end. We're not performing as we'd like at present but there are surely more positives than negatives. We're not a million miles off being a very good side. All in good time...
The Butcher

From where we were last year, its a massive progress the club has undergone.We now have stable platform, to build for the future. Its still a work in progress, I believe in Kenny & the owners to get us back to the top. Signs are there for everyone to see..

People lack patience ....these are the people who don't want journey ..who don't like journey ..who don't enjoy journey ...they just like to close their eyes and reach destination and think destination is everything ..

A LITTLE PATIENCE ? A BLOODY LOT OF PATIENCE I'D SAY. Individually went round to every single one of the victims houses after hilsborough not to mention the work put in as a player after heisel as well. The man is the epitomy of liverpool football club . My education of liverpool startrd at 4 watching reruns of the great shanks talking to the media and our challenges in europe, my nephews education staryed at 4 with both documentarys of our two main disasters and videos of games from the 80s. EVERY FAN OF LIVERPOOL SHOULD KNOW WHAT THIS MAN HAS DONE FOR OUR CLUB.
LONG LIVE THE KING
J496 YNWA.

Ahhh, at last, i've found all the sensible people on this site! KK is quite simply a Liverpool Legend, and his story has not yet finished. He epitomises everything that is good about our club, and will back everything assoctiated with it to the hilt. His ability as a manager cannot be questioned and the steps he has made in 12 months is phenominal. If we make the same progress in the next 12 months, I will be one happy Liverpool fan!

So the idiots who are doubting him should take a leave out of Kenny's book and get behind our GREAT club.

Marshy

I feel for Kenny. He could have stayed in retirement and remained the club legend. Instead, he has taken on a very difficult task. When he last managed the club, we were in the top 2 financially, and I don't believe anyone else was close. Now he must build a team to challenge in a league that is unrecognizable from twenty years ago. He will need all the support fans can give.

"Where once, we watched, the King Kenny play, AND COULD HE PLAY!"

Good to see it confirmed that the vast majority of Liverpool fans remain sensible and loyal (not that I ever really doubted it). I have vivid memories of Man U fans calling for Alex Ferguson's head in the wake of Utd losing 5-1 to City in 1989. He's gone on to be their most successful manager of all time. Not everyone can be a Fergie, but patience is a virtue in football management. One of the reasons I thought the Dalglish appointment was so shrewd in the first place was that I believed that he'd get more time from the fans than any other appointment. I still think that is the case. Kenny's judgement over the Carroll signing can be questioned (although I still think the lad could be a good player, if given time), but overall I think his moves have been shrewd. Further, he deserves credit for drastically improving our defence, an area which has been a source of weakness ever since he left, I would argue. It isn't that long ago that we were poor at the back, and fans were arguing that Skrtel and Agger weren't up to it. Yet they've been a revelation this season. People need to remember where we were this time last season. And they also need to remember that the emergence of Spurs and City as top sides means that there are now 6 teams scrambling for 4 Champions League places, so his job is far harder than it was under Benitez or Houlier.

16 Jan 2012 21:07:03
Its frustrating that the combination of the loss of Alonso and Woy signings (i.e. Poulsen) still haunt our Champions League ambitions...

Adam has been brought in as the CM that can dictate play but has tried too hard and over elaborates too much or dwells in possession. Its obvious that the deep lying dicator role is not natural to him. He should be bombing forward in a 4-3-3. If we had Lucas or Spearing he probably would be showing alot more of what he is naturally good at.

With the current goal shy forwards we have, its such a waste playing Gerrard so deep but we have to as he is the only fit midfielder that can effectivley dictate play and tackle. The problem is our attacking midfielders cant yet score regularly.

We are still very much a work in progress and I believe because we do not have a deep lying defensive playmaker to free up Gerrard, or a consistent set of goal scorers we are currently destined for a Europa finish.

With Chelsea signing Cahill / the return of Essien, and with Wilshire/Sagna/Vermalen coming back for Arsenal - I predict their defences will improve considerably.

We must improve our attack to pressure them to the end. Carroll is not going to get any better any time soon - whether its his fault or not its not working and I cant see him being given the time to play into form.

Suarez, Gerrard, Bellamy are our only goal scorers, Suarez chance conversion is 8ish% Gerrard is playing too deep to score regularly and Bellamy has a 33% conversion rate but can only play 80 minutes a week.

If we dont sign another DM Spearing will be key to the rest of the season, as he gives Stevie the platform to go forward more regularly and take / create better goal scoring chances.

Suarez conversion has to improve and i'm sure it will once the new striker is signed and he relaxes. We created 292 chances so far this season yet lie bottom of the conversion table.

I dont care if its Bent, Defoe, Sow or Doumbia. Any natural striker with pace and good ability will score us goals. Even Cisse would have put away alot of the chances Carroll and Suarez have squandered thus far.

Defoe, Remy, Bent will not move this window, Moussa Sow is the only striker with pace and good ability available.

It has to be a done deal..?

Red Owl

Sow would fit in perfect all he does is hit the bar

I wouldn't mind Sow to be honest, wants to play for us and is a decent striker. I don't think we will sign him in this transfer window.

Liverpool set to offer Spurs £10m for Defoe ?? Source: mirror sports

I clicked unbelievable just because its from the mirror .

Defoe doesn't exactly excite me....is he even worth 10m at 29...would prefer pavlychenko i think he's quality and way under rated

16 Jan 2012 20:28:41
Eds, any truth in the rumours that we have been watching Nick Powell from Crewe? {Ed001's Note - yes and Max Clayton.}

16 Jan 2012 18:22:54
Ed001 seeing as you said a lot of strikers won't move due to the euros. Do you think that leandro damiao might be a possible target as you have said we looked at him before? {Ed001's Note - no.}

16 Jan 2012 19:03:22
The Signing Bruce Grobbelaar has touted has to be David Texeira. Plays for FC Groningen. South American in Dutch League.

Supposedly on the recommendation of both Suarez and Coates.

JP

Would he get a work permit? I would think unlikely.
Vic

I just looked him up on Youtube. Obviously they put all his best bits into one clip so you don't see all the missed chances, but he looks pretty solid.
I guess the Kuyt youtube clip is about 20 mins long and is a collection of crap passes and misses. (Sorry, I forget he works hard for the team.....sheeeesh)

Wonder how long andy carrols video clips last?

He looks very average to me at best!
would prefer defoe, english,has pace,already knows the premier league, knows where the net is. & partner him with suarez could be what weve needed for a longtime.

lfcscott

What carroll video clip? didn't know we had video of him actually scoring

16 Jan 2012 19:03:06
What are the eds views on the youngsters already in our ranks. I believe suso plays at a higher level than what he's in at the mo. also sterling will become truly brilliant. As for rumours, a colleague of mine states that palace have told Liverpool that zahar will not move until July, but Liverpool have asked to be told of any offer for the youngster. Also, due to ties with stoke, I can confirm that shotton has spoke to a reds player and confirms a south American friend of Luis is in talks. {Ed019's Note - I think our youth players are great, such as Sterling, Suso, Morgan etc. but they are not ready for the first team yet}

This is swagga btw

16 Jan 2012 18:58:12
Moussa Sow most likely to move in the summer, with Joe Cole being used as a makeweight. Unlikely to move before then unless Liverpool could risk the chance of him Injuring himself at the African Cup of Nations.

Also I would recommend backing Senegal to win the ACON, I have a feeling they are going to win.

Ed016

Ghana or ivory coast to win, Ghana for me, they have a great set up, great u21 side

16 Jan 2012 17:52:51
i posted yesterday that there would be 3 signings with a £30 million budget. i was told that Sow was very likely however the board are uninpressed that he has made the move public. i can also comfirm that teixeros did indeed miss training but is not in england although he is in talks with liverpool and he would be exciting and is currently the most likely.the final signing is likely to be a right winger where many are being considered. is this consistent with your info eds and are there any right wingers you have heard genuine rumours for?
RyanTheRed {Ed019's Note - Please read the posts}

Eds there are no posts wher you give 2/3 right wingers we are considering. also i meant to add if we dont move for sow, ba is also in consideration and newcastle are open to the idea of a swap of ba for carrol due to ba being unavailable due to ACON and they need a striker immediately to sustain there top 6 bid. during the past two days liverpool have infact been in contact with newcastle regarding the possibility of signing Ba, this is proved with the sudden drop of price from 16/1 into 2/1 on transfer betting. to conclude with £30 million we will sign Teixeros, Ba/Sow and a right-winger. {Ed019's Note - I know nothing about Ba joining LFC, and he wouldn't be able to pass his medical anyway. The right wingers I know that LFC are interested in, I repeat interested in, are Johnson if city are willing to sell to a rival club, and Walcott as we are monitoring his contract situation}

ED, are Walcott and Johnson realy the favourites to sign in the right wing position? {Ed001's Note - I have heard of no interest in Walcott and Johnson is just a forlorn hope until City sign a replacement.}

Maybe you have no money left after messiah kenny wasted 35mil on AC,thats got to be your worst ever signing,rumour has it Mike Ashley has had to start taking medication to stop himself laughing

16 Jan 2012 17:42:14
HEY EDS! i want to change the question a bit from what everyone is asking. Rather than us being interested in sow and sow wanting to come to lfc, would lille still sell him even though hes in the champions league?
thanks eds
lfc all day {Ed002's Note - He isn't. Their issue relates to needing a replacement.}

16 Jan 2012 17:40:07
Will the fact that Moussa Sow has gone to the ACOF affect our chances of signing him {Ed002's Note - Not as much as Lille not wanting to sell without getting a replacement. They had been looking at De Jong as well.}

Its no Rumour for him in liverpool shirt But liverpool will buy him for free {Ed016's Note - It is possible that all the interest in De Jong was to get Lille to make a move early on so that we could get Sow, also the poster of this post, you submitted a few that were not readable, please try to be more clear in your posts.}

16 Jan 2012 17:13:20
is there any chance of signing moussa sow from lille this month {Ed002's Note - Perhaps but I suspect it may be very difficult. The summer seems a more likely option to me.}

Is at african cup of nations

If i were liverpool i wouldn't be looking at sow as he could turn out to be like every other player like him; such as cisse or sissoko when they were at liverpool...they didn't do too good.
Liverpool should be looking more into hazard or dzagoev if they wanted midfielders and for left back Diego Contento and strikers such as Nassim Ben Khalifa or Alexis Sánchez for quality! (this is who i would be thinking of getting)

16 Jan 2012 17:06:55
Hi Eds, I read that Man City are bidding for Fiorentinas Stevan Jovetic - Do you know is there any interest from Liverpool? I know he would cost a lot of money, we can rule him out. But I would love to see him in our club, maybe a summer target depending on January arrivals? Stunning player {Ed002's Note - Feel free to rule him out.}

Good player but injury record speaks for itself. No Hope

Only signed a new contract, he won't be moving anywhere

All these true eds?

1) Liverpool have handed a two-week trial to Swedish teenager Abdul Aziz, who has been dubbed the "baby Didier Drogba".

2) Manchester United and Liverpool have made enquiries about Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha, but have been told the teenager is not for sale.

3) Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is ready to test Tottenham with a £10million offer for unsettled Jermain Defoe.

4) Liverpool are on the verge of signing a new striker, according to legendary goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar.

5) Liverpool are considering a January move to sign Swansea City attacker Scott Sinclair after a succession of glowing scouting reports left Anfield boss Kenny Dalglish readying a potential bid for the former Chelsea man.

6) Lille striker Moussa Sow has put Liverpool on red alert after revealing he would jump at the chance to play in front of the Kop.

7) Esteban Granero's agent has admitted the 24-year-old could leave Real Madrid, with Liverpool having shown interest.

{Ed002's Note - Please read the posts.}

Harry wont let you have Defoe for 10m when he knows kenny paid 35 for big Andy,on that valuation hes gotta be worth 90m

Speculation about Texiera to Liverpool has now broken in Uruguay in their paper The Observer! Check link if you do not believe:-

David Texeira en la mira de Liverpool

Thanks

Have just read this speculation . Its true.

Its true about the newspaper, but they are just relaying the Bruce Grobbelar link

The lad looks good

5times*****

To be fair, Bruce didnt say the players name just hints of his nationality and what country he plays in. I think this has legs rather than being a coincidence or something of that nature. This guy is quality! Hope we get him

Like him love him good player

16 Jan 2012 16:07:59
hi eds i have reason to believe down to my research and my sources that we are in for 2 players in january which wont cost a huge amount of money these players are 2 off the following

Moussa Sow
Jermaine Defoe
Wilfred Zaha
Nicolas Loderio
Alerandro Faulin QPR Spelling

which would you like to see EDs ? {Ed002's Note - Out of those Sow would be the only one for me.}

Alejandro Faurlín is out injured for the season so there's no chance of signing him

Phill

Doubt were after Faurlin, out for the season with knee ligament damage is he not?
Cracker of a player tho
RedHawk

The same Faurlin that's been ruled out for the rest of the season

LFCTHB007

Jermaine Defoe? Really? He's 29, barely plays at Tottenham, plus it would mean giving transfer funds to dodgy wheela'-deala' soon-goina-prison tax-evading 'Arry

Define "Wouldn't cost a huge amount of money"! The general concensus on Defoe is £10 mill and Zaha is similary priced. Sow [ if in fact available ] would likely cost more and unless we sell anyone I doubt our transfer budget would stretch to two players.Defoe at almost 30 is over-priced.I've no idea what your other 2 candidate's would cost but again I'm betting £10 mill plus each.

16 Jan 2012 15:57:52
I really hope this link with Defoe is nonsense. While I think he would add a new 'dimension', we need a proven goal scorer right now, and Defoe hasn't exactly been in high gear. He plays with the best wingers in the PL, and still hasn't lit it up. I know his playing time has been limited, but there is usually a reason for that!

He does however have all the attributes kenny is interested in: British, over priced. Probably will happen.

Why the dig at Kenny? I think it's good he's signing British, don't want to become another Arsenal.

Gibzkit

No we want to be in the europa every year and thats what will happen with Kenny

My issue with Defoe is that he is rubbish. Surely Bent is a better option, perhaps a little more expensive but a more rounded player.

Defoe is truely aweful (like my spelling) and if he came we would be a laughing stock

Defoe is a better all round player than bent

Defoe is proven prem class,he's a goalscorer which is the hardest job in football,some of kennys signings have been suspect but then you can never guarantee success from a player,its one thing to have a great performance against one of the bigger teams when playing 4 a smaller team but when they step up and join and are expected to perform and win everyweek and not just once a month when it suits its way tougher and then it proves who's really cut out for the very top

Bet you would swap him for carroll tomorrow,Defoe will score goals whichever team he plays for..fact

Defoe over rated, idiot. Go back to FIFA and talk about players you have never even seen play from abroad.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I'm suprised to see so many of you slagging defoe. Many people in football consider defoe one of the best english strikers playing in the epl, and apart from suarez ( and fyi defoe has a better goal game ratio in the epl) liverpool are lacking a natural goalscorer, at least until Carroll builds some confidence and Suarez returns from the ban. Go on Kenny add Defoe and i predict he will score at least 10 goals before the end of the season

16 Jan 2012 15:56:36
Hi Eds please can you tell me that we don't have interest in Defoe please please please! {Ed002's Note - I don't know how true this "interest" is.}

Why are so many of you against signing Defoe? In my opinion he is a great player and I would love to see him at Anfield. It doesn't really matter because I just cant see this move happening.

Why was he no good for you on football manager

I haven't signed Defoe on football manager no. I just dot think that he's the right man for the job were looking at. I like the lad but he would also be better off at a club like Sunderland.

Ed if luuk de jong features in the euros and has a,decent tournament don't you think his transfer fee and wage demand shoot up. If we are to bid for him it would be better if we do it sooner than later. Doraemon

What if he has an awful euros? What do we do then

He won't get near the pitch with RVP about

Lille striker Moussa Sow thinks Liverpool would be a good move for him. "I am at Lille now but as we all know I want to play in England one day," he told Sky Sports. "Liverpool, well, that is a dream club. Anyone would be happy, scoring goals in front of the Kop can be the highlight of a career."

Moussa Sow has been heavily linked today following the statements out of SSN. Any ideas how much he would cost eds?

Just a little dampener on Sow is his record before joining Lille, 112 games 18 goals, not the best record.

But since he has joined Lille he has been in very good scoring form, probably because of the service provided from the likes of Hazard, Cabaye, Payet and Cole.

With the chances we have created this season, I'm sure he would get goals.

RedSG {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what he would cost.}

According to a couple articles, his contract has 1 and a half years left, running out in the summer of 2013. His price would constantly drop until then, and a couple places have stated that he may be unwillingly to sign a new contract.

At the moment I would say 8-10 mill

It was reported inthe media that they had accepted a bid for sow for 15m from Fenerbache but also heard it was £8.5m so anywhere between £8m-12m would be a good guess, probably the higher end considering its the jan window

Some information on the Dutch-based strikers and my take on it, seeing as I live in Holland and follow the footie here too.

Nicolas Lodeiro didn't play one game for Ajax in season 2010 - 2011 due to an injury he picked up during the world cup, according to wikipedia. Talented yes but looks way too injury prone and Kenny won't want a player who is that injury prone.

David Texeira looks decent. Smaller than Carroll at 6ft odd, and quicker. Good in the air and a goal poacher. If you watch him when the crosses come in, he is always behind the penalty spot waiting for that loose ball and he invariably takes his chances. Only 20, and Uraguayan, so only time will tell how good he actually can become. Think it is a big risk for me though, there are few gems that come out of the Dutch league without having played for the likes of Ajax or PSV for years to benefit from their schooling. And seeing as non of their clubs have money to burn, the standard seems to be stagnant. If you look at the golden boys of Dutch football, like he current generation, all went abroad and then became famous. Not the other way around. Kluivert was lousy when he played in Holland and even I had a better first touch, Sneijder, Robben, Kuyt, Elia, van Persie all benefitted from outside of Dutch clubs schooling. So a major gamble or a cheap one which might prove dividends is the name of the game when buying from the Dutch league.

The Luc Casta... whatever his name is stood out at Feyenoord, because his team mates were all bad. I mean, they weren't just bad, they were Everton bad. Shanks would have seriously closed the curtains on Feyenoord if he thought Everton were bad in comparison. Not good enough for Inter means no chance at Liverpool. So, this would seriously suprise me, and for me only a loan option would be viable.

Bruce could mean Johnathon Reis, who is Brazilian and I have mates who watch PSV week in week out. One of them said Reis was the best striker they have had at PSV since Ronaldo. So, nuff said about his potential and talent. Reis though, has had his coke problems, plus going awol, and PSV were patient and leniant on him to the point of the extreme. They even let him go home mid-season to get his head straight, paid his salary when he was out snorting it all away and not turning up for training. And recently, he joined newly-minted Vitesse before PSV could offer him a contract (admittedly while still injured) extension. So this to me questions his loyalty. If he joined us, and Barca or Real came knocking, he would be off like a shot.

Although why any player in their right mind would want to join Real Madrid is beyond me. It is the graveyard of good talent. Ronaldo as in old winker is in himself a brilliant player, and only because of this, he hasn't gone backwards. Ozil though, who is for me really one to watch for the future, will only get worse while playing for them.

Will keep my ears open in Holland for everyone though.

YNWA !

Andy W

Thanks Andy, that's very interesting. I don't live in Holland but watch quite a lot of Dutch football just for fun. I think there's a fair bit of undiscovered treasure out there, and Dutch players have often done well in the PL. Can you tell me what you think about thre players who have caught my eye this year - Luciano Narsingh and Dost at Heernveen, and Ola John at Twente.
Cheers -SH-

Thanks for the insight.
CR

Cracking post mate and very interesting and informative! Ta muchly!

Excellent summary. Thanks!

Great post. Thanks.

Will watch those players for you lads no probs. I go watch PSV Twente in a couple of weeks with the father-in-law. Nice big fat joint, a few beers in the pub to get in the mood, hang out with some of the PSV lads and go watch the game..... Maybe if I have to watch the players, I will make it a small joint.... ;-)

Hi eds, is there any chance of us getting Estaban Granero i Jan? thanks eds! :) {Ed002's Note - Surplus to requirements in Madrid, could interest any number of clubs and may be used as a makeweight in a transfer. Only solid interest at this time has been from Blackburn Rovers and Sevilla but unsubstantiated rumours have linked him to Liverpool and Espanyol as well.}

Esteban Granero's agent says the player could leave Real Madrid, bound for Liverpool. "He's finding his chances limited at Real," Teo Lazaro said. "If he can't play at Madrid, then he'll play somewhere else. It's as simple as that. He's keen for a move away - possibly to Liverpool."

WB

Looked a good player before going to R.M. Would improve us if available for the right money.

Actually, Ed002, Granero is closer to moving to Malaga than any other club.

i think ultimately kenny has to be asking himself the question: if we swap bent for carroll will our chances of top 4 drastically improve?
and the answer to that question in my opinion would be yes. carroll is a disaster and although i do feel for the lad (not his fault he is way out of his depth trying to live up to a WORLD CLASS FORWARD price tag) it would be rubbing salt into the wound by being stubborn and not accepting this deal.
i say stubborn because hes either being stubborn or blind to how bad he actually is!

peter

I hate to disrespect Liverpool FC players but in my opinion your right, Carroll has been a very poor player, and I would swap him for Bent without a second thought..
But that offer may not even exist as it could just be another silly rumour
RedHawk

As kenny has said Carroll is on a 5 year contract , only a fool would pay 35 million for a player and then swap him for somebody with no resale value. Carroll showed at newcastle what he could do and a lot of that was based on good balls in now lets be honest , we've got downing on the left (who has been quite poor) and dirk kuyt on the right (ill say no more about him..) finally now gerrard is back so lets give him a chance if it wasnt for joe hart he would be a hero he has the ability he just needs a break

What deal are you reffering to? Are you simply dreaming and making things up. What also makes you think Villa would want bent. Please dont get drawn in to paper talk becuase the truth is stretched and totally blown out of proportion from reality.

Adzii

I feel same way, but then i think Carroll is OUR player we have to support him. He wears the RED and wears the honour of Liverpool. imo in max 2 months Carroll will score 2 hatrick, with belief and hardwork nothing is impossible look at 2005!

IraqiRED

The question isnt about whether we'd get rid of carroll for someone like bent with no resale value ffs we're not running a corner shop... the question that should be at the forefront of peoples minds is that would we have a better chance of getting top four this season coz believe you me IT WOULD BE AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER IF WE MISSED OUT YET AGAIN!
what really does my head in about dalglish is that when he says we got carroll and were paid 15m to have him. my blood boils every time he says it. at the end of the day we had real investment for the first time in over a decade and hes squandered it

peter

Do you really think bent is going to work for the team the same way as carrol did against city? No! Bent would still need the service, it would be the same problem, different striker.
Bentam

So, based on what has been said in the past 24 hours by Bruce and Moussa Sow himself, would i be right in thinking that we may be signing 2 strikers? With the 'south american from the Dutch league' being most likely Texeira who has apparently been out of training today according to Bryan Reece on twitter, not saying it's true just stating the claim. And the other looks to be Moussa Sow? maybe the one that Bruce said we are close to signing? I find it hard to believe that Defoe will be signed as he is getting on a bit and don't see him fitting into liverpool. What do you think Ed's? Cheers.
YNWA
Scouserlewy

{Ed001's Note - I am not sure what is happening with Teixeira, I do know Suarez has been very persuasive with his Uruguay team mates, Coates has said as much to someone I know. Basically he said that Suarez sold him the club and made the move happen. So it would be no surprise if Teixeira wanted to join too, Suarez apparently waxed lyrical about the support and the atmosphere etc. I am trying to find out whether he really is out of training and if it is anything to do with us. As for Sow, he is trying to make a move happen, his comments were intended to push it through, hopefully they work because we need a striker badly.}

Can't see us signing Sow in January window. Lille are still in CL, and Sow could be away for upto a month with Senegal

Thanks Ed, also, would i be right in thinking that surely if Sow is saying these things then there has been some contact with Sow/his reps/Club about a possible move? otherwise why would he stage a desperate come and get me plea? Cheers.
Scouserlewy {Ed002's Note - You are reading too much in to this.}

Please kenny and commoli sign sow. he is a world class forward

Ed did u find out if he was in training 2day? {Ed001's Note - not yet I haven't no, sorry.}

Just heard on talk sport French reporter saying SOW & HZZARD going nowhere in jan as lille still in CL. YNWA. Bob

Erm... Lille are not in the CL anymore.

That reporter should be fired

They know they aint got a chance in CL

Lille is not was knocked out in group stage.

CF

No they aren't

It's talksport how much of it to you really believe?

The table doesn't lie. Lille finished 4th in their group on 6 points.

It would be HAZARDous if liverpool do not sign them, and if we did we would SOW the seeds of our success!

I know right, genius!

16 Jan 2012 14:07:20
Ed's, if the Moussa Sow transfer was to happen, would our representatives have to fly out to Africa to agree personal terms?

Thanks

JMS {Ed002's Note - No, he will have a representative in Belgium who can do that. His signature would be required though.}

Eds how much would Sow cost £5-£8m maybe if so Cole is going for £5m so could it involve a straight swap? Thanks

BigD {Ed001's Note - I don't know the price, I would have said more for Sow and less for Cole though if it was me. Though Sow only has 18 months on his contract, he would still look to be more in the region of 8m+ and Cole is getting on a bit.}

He is crap get someone like lavezzi or cavani or even ba sow is crao

16 Jan 2012 14:04:47
Hello again,

Does anybody know much about Moussa Sow and what kind of player he is i.e target man, poacher, creative forward.. I dont believe you tube gives a honest reflection of a player, do you know much about him Ed's?

Reason i ask, there is a liklihood he may sign, maybe not in this window but possibly the next. Recent comments he has made about Liverpool also state he would find a move to us apealing.

If he is open to the move, and Joe Cole is open to making his loan move permanent, is there also a possibility that some kind of exchange could take place?

Thanks Ed's

Adzii

Sow is much of a alrounded player I've seen him play many times he is just another Henry like he would bring a lot of creativity to our squad while Suarez is out for the time being but them together would be a force

Adzii - I'm french (so all apologies for my english...^^), and Sow is definitely not a creative forward. He's powerful and fast, but he's also irregular. Pretty good in France, but play systems and attacking work look very different wiht PL.

He is centre forward along the lines of Demba Ba. he plays on the shoulder of the centre halves and try to run behind them constantly. Sow has decent pace, about as quick as Adebayor I would think and good strength. He works hard, and scores a lot of his goals due to his positioning.

I am however not sure about his tactical ability in terms of effectively linking up with s strike partner as intelligent as Suarez or even Gerrard.

AG

Oh right okay, thanks. I suppose thats why we bought Carroll in ironicly.. Power house upfront. That must put a big question mark over his head. But no, looks decent and seems keen.

Adzii

Sow is currently a lot better than Carroll. Not only quicker but has great agility to go with his decent strength and much better ball control than Carroll.

He is faster than Adebayor and has a much better chance conversion albeit in front of ligue 1 keepers.

He is full of energy and pace which is what we lack up front and I would go as far as saying he would be the best finisher in our squad (not particular hard) which is what we need to improve on.

The move makes sense - let's hope they can sort it out this window as I cannot see any better options out there.

Red Otter

Sow is da type of player that can surprise u and turn a game around

16 Jan 2012 14:03:56
No disrespect to Swansea who have been a joy to watch this season but it's still a sad day when we are been linked with not one but three of their midfield players to come into the team..

NO DISRESPECT TO U . but just cause a player is playin for a so called small club does not mean they are not good enough so pls pull your head out

Who?

Dyer and Sinclair are both better than a lot of our players we have

Dyer and Sinclair are both better than Walcott, Lennon and other similar players this season. As for their midfield a pass completion percentage in the high 80s and 5th in European football isn't too bad and the fact Britton's is better than any other European player including World Player of the Year Messi and 3rd place Xavi they must not be too bad

Possibly because Nathan dyer and Scott Sinclair have been far better than any of our wingers all season??

Andy

Im not having a dig at the players more our scouting network. swansea paid pittance for the 3 players in question whereas liverpool spent almost 50 million to improve the midfield yet it's obvious which midfield strikes most fear into opposition defences..

Would love to have sinclair and dyer in our team,would also take seb larsson from sunderland now theres a fella that can put a cross in and take a free kick,he could do some work with downing and adam on the training pitch about how to put a decent cross in the box!!

16 Jan 2012 14:03:24
Hi Eds, great site. Saw on Sky sports Moussa Sow talking about how great it'd be to play and score infront of the Kop. He would be a great addition to our team, not sure I see us potentially getting him in the summer but perhaps in the winter.
Shayno

16 Jan 2012 14:03:07
I've just ask paddy Agnew on talksport about coutinho and he said that he will certainly be on the move this January cos he's not playing much. Does that mean he's not very good? I don't know much about him but he is getting a lot of mentions on here. What position does he play?
Finisher

Reminds me of Juninho - plays off the main striker or "in the hole" as they say today.

Coutinho is another rather poor brazilian playmaker type midfielder probably with abig prize tag as inter will want to get some money back from what they paid

I remember watching him play against Spurs last season in the Champions League and he seemed a great player with a lot of creativity. I think there is very much a chance of him making a move to Liverpool however it may only be a loan.
N.I Red

Who's paddy agnew,is he off big fat gypsy wedding

16 Jan 2012 18:23:51
this was posted in Danish Newspaper 2 weeks ago. just a little clip of The Inter talent at training. I think he would leave because of lack of first team football. And not because he don't have potential.

Yo mates. Just heard that Bruce grobbelaar said that 2 strikers are in negotiations. Well dunno anout negotiations but I can confirm that the two players are Joao Teixeira and Nicolas Lodeiro. Both are young stars and will prosper in red colours. Hope this one pulls off!!

Its david teixeira.

On the SSN wesbsite it says the Moussa Sow wants to move to Liverpool.

"Liverpool, well, that is a dream club. Anyone would be happy, scoring goals in front of the Kop can be the highlight of a career."

Sign him Kenny!

Well if u had asked him abt arsenal or manutd he would have told the same rubbish

16 Jan 2012 13:58:17
Hey eds

I know the moussa sow question, has come up numerous times now, however he has come out today and said it would be a "dream to play for Liverpool"

Are you aware of anything that may have prompted this outburst as its been no secret we have been interested in him?

Cheers

Ray {Ed002's Note - It was not an outburst, just the answer to a question posed during an interview.}

16 Jan 2012 14:37:34
Ed's,would just like to hear macca's view on sow,he said last week we might only bring in a player from inter,obviously just because a player comes out and says he'd love to play for us doesnt mean he's defo gonna sign but has macca said anything about him? love the site!! {Ed002's Note - Macca has explained his position regarding transfers and if their are updates I am sure he will give them.}

16 Jan 2012 14:36:57
im just thinkin whether its worth keeping andy carrol on the payroll even though he did cost a tremendous amount. surely a straight swop for any other striker in form would be sensible. no extra money spent. hanging onto him wont make the situation any better. bent, kalou, ba, sturridge. i honestly think anyone would be better. he's costing us a top 4 finish. cut your loses. why is kk hanging on? thoughts ed? {Ed002's Note - You cannot just exchange players with other clubs to get rid of them.}

Mate your obviously an absolute tool with no brain, firstly as the ed has pointed out you cant just swap players, they're not stickers, secondly how would making a massive loss on a player after 12 months be in any way beneficial to the club and last off all Andy signed a 5 and a half year contract, don't you think it is even remotely possible that some time in the next 4 and half years that he might return to the form that made him 1 of the best strikers in the league this time last year.

Gman82

Totally agree with gman82 ,get off carrolls back and give the lad time ,he will come good and prove how good he is hes been bought for the long term not just the last 12 months .

Russ wiseman:Liverpool tabled a 10mil offer for Defoe.

Russ wiseman from mold?

Eds, what has happened to the podolski speculation? Is it still likely? or are we looking at Sow and Defoe being the front runners for January signings? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest Liverpool had in Podolski. Galatasary, Lazio, Lokomotiv Moscow, Schalke, Anzhi and Zenit and Arsenal have shown an interest in Podolski. If he does move to England, Arsenal is certainly the most likely destination. A summer move may be more likely than a January move.

We cannot say who the front runners are - I think any move for Sow will now need to wait until the summer.}

And he is ? ? ?

Ed who is this Russ guy & is there any credibility to the rumour. Thanks

BigD {Ed002's Note - How would I know? It will be a child off Twitter I expect.}

I think he is some analyst on espnstar (the indian espn) who is denoted as a "market expert" but he hardly ever gets anything right....so dont bother

16 Jan 2012 14:22:27
So EDs get right again Remember Ed002 mentioning Sow as a possibility even without anyone asking, Is there any hope of a January transfer though with ACN ED? {Ed001's Note - there is a very real hope of it happening, if we decide to move for him. That is the main sticking point now.}

16 Jan 2012 14:12:29
Sow is signing for LFC and the lad Costagions, however Dafoe has a ? we are focusing on players outside the EPL as stop-the-rot options, hope Kuyt and Maxi remain available for the push, Maxi is 'class' Jordan should be on the bench, he cannot mark, pressurize, hold position and runs around pointing a finger all the time, he is indeed one for the future. DanieRed

16 Jan 2012 14:11:56
Love the site guys , keep it up . Just one thing and I'm sure I'm going to be told that I'm mad but inter Milan for Tevez for 22-25 million ? Would it be that crazy if Liverpool put a bid in ?? Or is it his wage demands that would blow us out of the water ? Thanks Dotts Y.N.W.A. {Ed002's Note - It is never going to happen.}

Why even bother posting this, Tevez does not want to stay in england

Would never want a player like him to come to liverpool because he's such a trouble maker, plus his wages would astronomical!

16 Jan 2012 14:11:17
ED's, are Liverpool seriously monitoring Jermain defoe ? I thought we'd be after someone a bit more high profile than him {Ed002's Note - I don't ewally know what Liverpool are considering about the player. Defoe wants to stay high profile and play regularly to make sure he gets a Euro place. I understand his concern is that at Spurs he is not starting games. So if Liverpool can give him a start, and want him, and make a bid, then I guess something could be done.}

Defoe is a proven goalscorer in the premier league and is available at £10m its a steal. Other high profile strikers would cost treble the amount in january. im 100% behind the defoe signing if it happens!

16 Jan 2012 14:09:38
Lille striker Moussa Sow has put Liverpool on red alert after revealing he would jump at the chance to play in front of the Kop.
any chance Ed?? {Ed002's Note - A possible opportunity only. Sow has been looked at by Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle and Spurs amongst others but a move in January may be difficult with the player away in Africa right now - but there is certainly interest. Another option is that it may be possible that a move in the summer could be sorted out now.}

16 Jan 2012 13:42:36
hello all, this is my third time of posting as yet still not seen any of my posts on the site. i have a couple of very good sources, ex players. anyway latest is kenny is very keen to bring in defoe from thfc however harry will only let him go if another one of his fantasy strikers comes in. i posted this last week so eds can confirm. news today breaking in daily mirror and now on sky sports..real possibility as defoe wants first team football also was told that dispite all the denial about carol lfc are willing to let him go and wheels in motion to bring in another two strikers from abroad first...remember the name...DANDYMAN

Am i missing simething here? Why would defoe wanna leave tottenham now when they are in the race for the title!! He has loved spurs for many years and now they have a chance i cant see him wanting to go in this window anyway. What u think eds?

Gezza1982 {Ed002's Note - I think his priority is a starting role.}

A number of us have posted about an interest in Defoe weeks ago bud.

Yes and can confirm that pav will leave before jd goes! Our arry was in france last night checking both remy and hazard! Apparently there's no go with remy at the moment but that could change? Jd is a religious and family orientated man and if he did make the or any other move may find it hard to settle?

Sounds like you been on the BEERMAN

On the SSN wesbsite it says the Moussa Sow wants to move to Liverpool.

"Liverpool, well, that is a dream club. Anyone would be happy, scoring goals in front of the Kop can be the highlight of a career."

Sign him Kenny!

Sounds promising

He is just what we need a poacher !
Jimmy s44

He is more of a fox in the box than poacher .
that's what i have seen him as a forward.
thanks.

16 Jan 2012 13:43:41
Lille striker Moussa Sow is attracting interest from across Europe and he admits it would be a 'dream' to join Liverpool. The Senegal international has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Looks like the eds are right about Sow.

They know their stuff ;)

16 Jan 2012 13:40:29
Ed sow has said on sky sports website that he would love to play for liverpool wots the chances of him comin in jan are we intrested n is he available {Ed001's Note - we are interested, he is available and he is likely as it stands. I did say a while back he seems the likeliest option now De Jong is almost certain to stay where he is in Jan. It looks like he is now trying to force the move through himself, which is a very positive sign. Kenny does like players to want to play for us.}

Do u think a transfer bid is iminent eds
fagan81 {Ed002's Note - We cannot say about the timing of events, but the first step would be to look at the viability.}

I would much prefer him over Defoe , Do you think we could still get the 2 that brucie was on about as well ?? Dave {Ed002's Note - I can't answer for anything BG said - it is meaningless to me.}

16 Jan 2012 13:33:02
lille striker moussa sow has said it would be a dream to play 4 liverpool

graeme :)

16 Jan 2012 12:47:52
hi eds,have u herd of any conection to granero?
thanks {Ed002's Note - Surplus to requirements in Madrid, could interest any number of clubs and may be used as a makeweight in a transfer. Only solid interest at this time has been from Blackburn Rovers and Sevilla but unsubstantiated rumours have linked him to Liverpool and Espanyol as well.}

16 Jan 2012 13:09:01
Any interest in Burak Yilmaz ?

LFCTHB007

16 Jan 2012 12:33:54
Eds any update on E.Granero or is it just his agent talking up a move? Thanks.

BigD {Ed001's Note - it seems to be his agent talking up interest he knows exists in order to attract a bid. It is known that most possible targets have already made it known they won't move in Jan, ahead of the Euros.}

16 Jan 2012 12:57:51
Liverpool have made contact with Swansea (sisters a PA with Swansea) likely players linked are dyer and Sinclair offer around 12million with add-ons for both........

Great signings if all goes well!!

Hmm a pa with access to this info, i smell bs none of you know anything

Get them both - much better than anything we have on the wings at the moment! Add Hoilett and a few new strikers and GAME ON!

I'm sure the Swansea management will be delighted that your sis is leaking the club's transfer dealings!LOL!

Yeh Kenny Dalglish called the PA ;) :P

We should get them better than the tosh we have now ( not you Bellers )

16 Jan 2012 12:24:14
Ed - has Marco Bueno signed a pre-contract agreement?
The Goatherder
JFT96 {Ed001's Note - I believe so, he should join when he is 18 all being well.}

16 Jan 2012 12:06:08
is moussa sow still possible in january EDS ?

thanks. {Ed001's Note - it is still possible, yes.}

Ed who would you take Sow, Defoe or De Jong {Ed002's Note - De Jong if nobody was to leave.}

16 Jan 2012 11:55:07
hi ed/s
i just read on my ynwa facebook page that liverpool have agreed terms and conditions with fc gronigen for david teixeira. its a rumour i know that but are any of yourll aware of it and is their any truth to it?
thanks...... {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware no deal has yet been agreed, little more than an enquiry has taken place is my understanding.}

16 Jan 2012 11:40:00
Hi Ed: I know Zaha has been mentioned before but SSN reporting Dougie Freedman saying he has spoken to Kenny Dalglish and Alex Ferguson about Wilfried Zaha, but has reiterated the Crystal Palace winger is not for sale. I hear KD is happy to sign him now and loan him back for the remainder of the season in an attempt to beat AF to the lad, any news if that is true? {Ed001's Note - it is always possible, I am told the scout reports said that he was raw and lacked end product, loaning him back would give him a chance to refine that. Though the fee he would cost would make it seem a big risk.}

16 Jan 2012 12:15:01
Darmesh seth said on sky sports that sources say liverpool are monitoring Defoe.

So what, don't mean we are gonna bid for him, we are monitoring a few players.

Defoe would be a good signing and someone who can put the ball in the net!wouldnt cost big bucks either.

The post said nothing about signing him so whats the reply all about

16 Jan 2012 11:50:30
Dougie Freeman is saying Kenny has been asking him about Zaha, why would he do that if the scouts dont recomend him as ye are claiming? {Ed001's Note - Kenny does make his own decisions you know. Maybe he disagrees or feels that the lad's end product can be improved with the right coaching.}

Yea we can all see how well Kenny's own decision worked out with 35M Carroll.

Like Andy Carroll can ? :)

Do people think he is better than what we already have in Sterling?

16 Jan 2012 11:50:14
hello ed(s),joe allen from swansea city was linked wid us a few days back,he certainly fits the policy of the owners being only 20 years n he was really great against arsenal yesterday.does he has a chance of joining us? Thanx {Ed001's Note - there is certainly interest there, not sure whether he would favour us over others, right now I would see him staying put. There has been enquiries from a few clubs to sound out interest in selling him, but Swansea have rebuffed them all.}

16 Jan 2012 10:09:17
Hello ed and all.

I realize you do not have a crystal ball but just wondered if any thing had changed in terms of most likely signings since a month ago? I do not mean the players we thought may come in january and seem unlikely now, but am asking more in terms of any more recent possible signings that you feel could come (not some of the silly rumours about players we will never get aka Hazard, Hulk Pato etc etc)

Thxs EDs
Gareth {Ed001's Note - it doesn't seem to have changed much, just less options than was expected. Luuk De Jong, for instance, was keen on a move in January, which was why we were expecting Liverpool to jump in before someone else bought him. But the manager change has meant he is no longer unhappy and is looking to stay in January to give himself a chance of going to the Euros.}

Shame bout De Jong cause we could do with him now, so ed if another team makes a move for him do expect us to try and tie up a deal for him?

BigD {Ed001's Note - yes, but one did (not sure who though I think it was an Italian club) and he turned down the move, citing the upcoming Euros and ruling out a move in January. Of course, it is always possible that he just didn't want to play in Italy or for that particular team, but it does seem he is set on trying to get a place in Holland's squad.}

16 Jan 2012 11:51:01
Not so much a rumour but please post on the rumours page. I was just thinking that maybe King Kenny is the problem we have atm, hes so busy backing up the likes of Andy Carroll, telling us he will come good eventually and there are no problems with him at all...hes also stated that he has the backing of the FSG if he needs it in the window but right now he thinks his squad is strong enough...if you ask me then it could be our manager thats causing us the problems, fair enought its kenny dalglish, a liverpool legend and he has turned it around a little, but id say if it was roy hodgson still in charge now and he had drawn 7/11 home games then fans would be asking to see him sacked. Just my opinion anyway, would you agree? I dont know why we cant put in a bid for someone like Bent or Defoe, if weve got the money then lets use it, signing bent or defoe is hardly asking for anything outrageous is it. We just definitely need a natural finisher upfront and things should start to get better. I often dream about signing adam johnson, i dont think theres a better player in league for what we need right now!

Cheers anyway

liamCsmith

Get ready for a right roasting son!

Assuming you have one, does your wife know you dream about adam johnson ! i dont see him as ther asnwer to out right wing problems either, if Kenny insists Caroll is the man then we need a good crosser of the ball i dont see Johnson whipping too many in at city for Dzeko so as much as i rate him his crossing is not his best asset

This annoys me!! If it were good ol woy, every pass would be a backwards one, it'd be like watching egg throwing, Kenny has got this team playing footy and creating chances but we are not finishing them, we dominate games, get lots of shots but not many goals. We need goals not a new manager. Anyone who thinks e ned a new manager has to have a long hard think about what the last couple of years has been really like.All hail the king. Ck1

Couldn't agree more lad. If Roy had spent near 60 million on downing and caroll e would be gone long ago

It isn't kennys fault entirely, you have to point at certain individuals who haven't been up to the task. Charlie Adam for instance has been more of a problem for us then the opposition with his constant fouling and his poor freekicks/corners. Downing started well but he really can't cross well. I think hendo has come on well but he's more of a central mid and kenny does use some odd tactics. But it will all come together and god help the teams we will soon be destroying! We all know what we can do against the top teams it's always been the same we just need to find the balance and I'm sure we shall succeed

I was preparing myself for a roasting dont worry ha, its just my opinion though, hes a good manager and he has got us playing better football, i just think thats more due to the fact weve got 6 new players in our first team squad rather than getting better performances out of people like spearing or shelvey...i just hope hes planning on buying a striker that can actually finish, home games against mediocre teams are just becoming too predictable, id of happily put alot of money on a nil nil draw against stoke.

Does anyone on here know how to acctually get behind your team and stop moaning, kenny deservs alot more respect than that, dont forget it was us who asked for him, so fickle, kenny is an absoulute legend, purely the fact he won the championship in arguably the best football league in the world as player manager, three times! cant of the top of my head think of anyone else who has achived it,id give him atleast three seasons to try and build a wining team, and i ohnestly believe he will do it, kenny you have my backing along with many others (i hope), please can ppl also realise the acon and the europen championships is wrecking the transfer window, prices are inflated, and players arent keen on moving because they want to make sure they have the national spot for the euros, be patiant, kenny will not go shouting hes got loads of money and gona buy everyone, he is a shrude business man in my eyes, and yes im aware he has paid a fair bit for some of our current crop! dont forget we got carrol and suarez for babel and torres, good business foir sure!
sorry rant over but i love liverpool and everything about them.

billynwa

Spot on mate

So were so poor we should sack the manager, but then you say in the next breath if we get a striker we should start to improve. So basically were 1 player away from much better results and you want rid of the man that has got us in this position? Think back 6 months ago...Ngog, Deggen, Aquilani, El Zhar, Cole, Babel, Insua...all poor squad players. Kenny has got rid and started to rebuild but Rome wasnt built in a day. Give him chance you clown. What the hell could KK do more in the little time he's had. Things will come good soon enough. So go and give your head a wobble son.

Marshy

The club's recovering from nearly 3 years of having the quality of the squad undermined by the previous owners. And yet we're a decent finisher away from being comfortably in the top 4. The game against Stoke was the first time we didn't create a succession of chances at home.

Can't expect Kenny to do better than that, imo.

If it was Roy, we would be in the championship right now.ok slight exggeration,but it wasn't that long ago i was being sent fb invites to liverpool relagation parties.King kenny has changed a lot.The defence for one.I do agree we need a proven prem legaue goal scorer, and would love to land defoe or bent.We should have bid for them both when spurs showed them the door the first time.
kiwired

I agree that if it was any other manager, he would get some stick for having 7 draws at home out of 11 games. However, I don't think the problem is with the manager. Liverpool has been playing some pretty decent football since King Kenny took over. I just don't get why we can't get as many goals as we should. Many times, the goal keepers were unbelievable. If anything, its our players who are not clinical enough. I don't want to get started with Andy Carroll because we can still win with him. We would be in a better position if he started scoring though!

Ck1 wat is egg throwing? Are you referring to the man's game.

Im not saying were a striker away from a comfortable top 4, im saying that we need a striker and we will begin to do better, i still think a right winger aswell, like i said i think johnson would be perfect, kenny played 5 at the back pretty much against stoke and kuyt was an alone striker, it had 0-0 written all over it. I fully support kenny and i obviously love eeverything about the club too, its just annoying when he says that he doesnt think we need to strengthen when its pretty clear we do after draws to blackburn, stoke, swansea, norwich, wigan, and sunderland all at home. Why cant we go about beating the smaller teams the same we go about beating city, utd, chelsea and arsenal?

liamCsmith

Fair wheather fans-when the going is good they will support, when things are rocking they jump ship and point fingers go support another team spurs perhaps

T.REX RED1892

To be fair he doesn't deserve a roasting, he is not asking for Kenny to be sacked but you all must have to admit although Kenny has us playing better football and we are closer to the top 4 than we would have been under Roy, he has made mistakes. I do believe Carroll will get better once he learns how to move in the box (confidence is everything look at Torres!) But what I cannot accept whether its Roy, Kenny or anyone else is playing Kuyt upfront on his own at Anfield with 5 at the back against anyone never mind Stoke!! we are struggling for goals does Kenny honestly believe those tactics were the solution? OK he experimented but then when he brought Carroll on he left Jamie on and took Downing off. In my opinion that too was a mistake. We all love you Kenny but we can except poor results a little easier if you stop being so negative and play 2 upfront and you never know we may start scoring goals.

Kev the Red

Why dont we just give Blackburn £6m for Hoilett?Who is at the end of his contract,not going to the euro's/ACON.
He's has the attributes we are looking for,especially crossing ability.It would free up Bellamy/Kuyt to go up top where they SHOULD be playing.

100 % agrre with ya, kenny does not how to manage, tactically wise, he is poor.. Signings is the biggest blow, might as well burn the 100 mill, the way kenny has spend on them..
The better, gurdonia and rafa comes back the bettter

The lad is not saying get Kenny out he is simply questioning him and I can understand why. The tactics in some games don't make any sense the way I see it is that the problem throughout the squad is confidence. You look at some of our results/performances against the better teams we've been fantastic but then you have them drawing 1-1 with Norwich! I think what we need to all start doing is stop worrying about targets and get behind every and any player that pulls a Liverpool fc shirt that for me is what needs to happen. Come on you scouse jtf96xxx

Can I jut say,you should get rid of Carroll and go for Bent. Carroll will never score for Liverpool like Bent would. All the games you have drawn at home I'm sure most of those you would have won with Bent in team.
I'm a Charlton fan for my sins and watched him on a regular basis the man knows where the net is and with the class you have he would be right what you need.
Hope you make CHampions League

Hi ed002s, just wondering if there is any news on Jeremiah Defoe. I think he is a top class striker and would prove a good signing since we are short of goals. Rumours say we will bid 10 mil?
{Ed002's Note - I have seen that there are rumours but I don't know anything more of it. I will try and check.}

Wouldn't be a bad buy as long as he puts the ball in the back of the net i ain't bothered, problem is when Suarez plays who ever plays as the lone striker needs to be clever as Suarez is a very clever player, Carroll is too slow and relies on crosses, Defoe has the pace and goal threat that we badly miss weather or not he can play as a loan striker/ with Suarez remains to be seen.

BigD

As a spurs fan I'll be honest! I understand that arry was willing to let two forwards go! One being dos santos! Like most spurs fans I thought pav would be the one out? A better finisher than jd but lazier! According to reports arry will possible table to huge offers one being rent and the other being hazard
(Harry personally flew to france yesterday to view
both . If arry does buy one or two forwards then jd could possible move on But he will get home sick he's quit religious and family orientated so the move could be a big risk

I can't see Spurs selling to their rivals at this stage

Better than what we have but past his best.Not convinced he would help a lot and would be expensive short term option.

Is he Jermaine's younger brother?

Who's jeremiah? pmsl....post of the day

I think he meant jebadiah Springfield

Good morning ed and reader. Ed do u know of any signing we might do? I just don't want us to because a one man band again! It's great to see Steve back and he signed to see out his signed to see out his playing days :) (many years I hope). I really think we need one strong,fast striker, Benzema? Or do I say Torres!! And a playmaking mid it might cost is but let's get Alonso... He loves Liverpool and in the interview on LFCTV he would not rule out coming back if ask! I can't believe I'm sayin it but we miss Lucas, yes I am, like most thought his would not get in a Sunday league team but he was playin great for us this season. Please let us know ed. thanks pal great work. Jim7sky {Ed002's Note - You need to look through the posts Jim.}

Get torres and alonso back? come off it people need to move on from the past and start looking to the future.torres prob would come back but its been a hell of a long time since he's produced the form we no he can over a sustained period of time for us or chelsea! and dont 4get were crying for goals and hes hit something like 5 in 40 games. if he never played for us and didnt have any connection to liverpool do u think people would be wanting to go after a striker wit that goal record? no chance. as for alonso just cant see him wanting to leave the la liga leaders for us no matter how much he loves the club. maybe in the summer but at that stage he'll be almost 31 and younger targets would make more sense

This persons an idiot, why would the brazil u19 captain not make it into a sunday league team? considering he has been the first name on the team sheet for the past 3 managers dont u think lucas is a whole lot better than u seem to think, and torres and alonso? its a bit early in the morn to be sniffing glue is it not?

16 Jan 2012 08:12:26
Eds any chance of Remy he seems better then any players we have been linked with.

Red Raj {Ed002's Note - There have been no approaches to Marseille regarding Loic Remy from Liverpool but a third party (an agent) suggested to Marseille that there is interest from Spurs and some sort of exchange for Pavlyuchenko was proposed which was immediately dismissed. Spurs however are looking at REmy with a chance of a cash bid. Remy would perhaps be interested in a move to a leading side in the summer but Marseille may price him out of the January market as they have no interest in selling at this time unless a very good offer is made. There has been a suggestion that Arsenal could also be interested in Remy.}

16 Jan 2012 07:58:13
Hi eds quality site. Just want to mention coutinho being linked with us, he is a tricky little player but he seems a lot like suso so why aren't we given him a try he is quality and can only grow with the likes of Gerrard and bellers and suarez around him. Also we need a pacey guy on the wing right?! so we should be giving sterling a try aswell, we would save money on these 2 an use what we go on a quality strikers.

Sterling n suso r not physically ready for the premier league. They wud get battered n bruised by teams like stoke n blackburn.
Indian Buzzer

Sterling is a little to young,morgan too.But if we were going to play Suso, then we should of keep pacheco for the season.

16 Jan 2012 07:15:10
It's January, and Liverpool FC really need to improve their squad. What is really needed now is more quality, depth is not really a problem at the moment, in my opinion.

What's worrying for is the fact that we're currently being linked to the likes of Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha and Nathan Dyer of Swansea. In my opinion, they simply aren't (at this moment in time) what Liverpool FC need. We can't afford to slip further behind and keep believing to ourselves that the youngsters will eventually push through to the first XI. Kenny Daglish needs to make sure that we get that Champions League place and keep us in a good financial situation ahead of next season.

Targets that I see are rather required include Llorente. He's class, he's talented and realistically, I could seriously take anyone up front for Liverpool besides Andy Carroll at the moment (or at least have one man beside him to rely on to bang in the goals). He won't come cheap though, as apparently Bilbao are trying to get around 20 million pounds for their Spanish striker.

Who else? Well, I see Liverpool FC as needing a new right winger and/or an attacking midfielder in the center. One that could play in both positions would be an added bonus in terms of versatility. I am saying that on the basis that we aren't going to sell Andy Carroll in the next few years and that we'll have to bank on him in the coming years. If Carroll's going to be successful, he's going to actually need some help from the wingers, basically, unlike what Stewart Downing has done so far.

In all, we have realistically actually invested a total of 55 million pounds of (at time of writing) wasted money, as the only reason why we got Downing was really to accommodate for Andy Carroll's apparently fantastic heading ability, something that Liverpool haven't seen so often given the lack of quality crosses into the box.

As demonstrated against Newcastle where he was feeding of Steven Gerrard's crosses, he can indeed be a potent weapon, but only with good balls into the box, and I have to stress this fact – they have to be higher – Liverpool FC's crosses often are really low and that's not exactly ideal for a 6 foot + striker inside the box. He's good with the volley, but it's with his heading ability where he stands out among the rest.

So we really need a right winger.

Danny

The beautiful art of heading.

Crossing for Andy - its simple if you look at Valencia at Utd he aims floaters (lol) at the penalty spot evey time and nine times out of ten there is either Rooney, Henandez or Welbeck there to bang them in. We should adopt this tactic as it works, if you also look at Torres's headed goals (resigned to history!) in most of them he is also stood on the pen spot when the balls are sent in - seriously check this out.

The problem with Carroll is thought to be the build up play as it could be argued that most of the time in the final 3rd the play is delayed somewhat by Downing stopping and passing side ways or backwards instead of beating his man and wipping in, or Adam aimlessly driving forward off balance and not looking up for a team mate and enevtiably conceding possession - unlike the athletic Ramieres of Chelsea or similiar that use their pace and balance to drive forward effectivley.

This is not the problem however as we do get plenty of crosses into the box. The fact is they are for the most part either over or under hit.

Carroll needs to get himself on the pen spot - its where he needs to be and where the balls need to be flighted into, it gives him maxium chance to hit either side of the keeper and score.

He "can beat any man in the air" (TM) so lets aim for the pen spot. Especially against Utd as De Gea will come out of his 6 yarder and flap like a pelican.

hey ed any chances for lorrente . are we monitoring him

vivek12011 {Ed002's Note - I expect Llorente will stay with Bilbao.}

16 Jan 2012 01:36:36
Do you have any idea who are the 2 strikers Grobbelaar mentioned (in talkSPORT) Kenny is looking at Ed? {Ed001's Note - if you read down there are a few names mentioned.}

16 Jan 2012 00:43:30
Abel Hernandez is class on FIFA 12

Thanks for that insight.

If that's the case, sign him immediately!

Stu.

Why do people write so much crap about players on fifa!!!

Well we should alert Kenny imidiatly!

Rob

Try djibril cisse. strength, speed, power.

Kaizer

It would seem that I cannot spell. Sorry guys...

Rob

So is torres..

So is heskey :P

OMFG ! ! ! If he is a class on FIFA 12, then Kenny should defo sign him?? he is messi in the making?? we should also sign Heskey and Bebe, they both scored 5 goals against Barcelona On FIFA 12, isn't that INCREDIBLE?...LOLZ

So is Carroll...

Andy Carroll, amazing on Fifa 12 for the iPhone, fast as anything and very accurate shot! Hernandez is good on the pitch as well, one of my fave non LFC players! But that's neither here nor there.

This is a rumours site. Why is there so much garbage put onto this site about computer games? I do like logging on and enjoy some of the banter but this is just nonsense!

12 replies to this post. You wanna stop these kinds of posts? Stop biting and replying to them

My own character is boss on FIFA 12 so I must be a great player. Which bus goes to melwood!

I scored 6 with Heskey last night. Sign him up.

16 Jan 2012 00:40:43
There has certanity been some activity in the transfers, and Liverpool fc looks like they will purchase some players during this week or next week! One target for sure is nathan Dyer, Kenny Danglish has increasingly been keen on him, who has played fantastic for swansea this season, and a price tag of 8.5 mill, it might be worth the risk!.

This clearly shows our lack of ambition of being a top 4 side. We scrap for players only good enough to keep us battling in the top 10.

Kenny is turning Liverpooll into a Mid table club

16 Jan 2012 00:37:20
Just read we are looking at Sinclair from Swansea? Any truth in that ed?
Hibsylfc {Ed002's Note - I would say it seems plausible, but sure as hell no confirmation exists.}

As the ed said seems plausible as he only has 18 months left on his contract but if a move is to happen id say in the summer.

BigD

15 Jan 2012 23:52:33
Is there actually a player at melwood eds?
I think one of these young strikers that have been mentioned is what we need
Steve {Ed002's Note - I really don't know. If it is off Twitter maybe a lesson should have been leared when Hoilett signed for Liverpool last Monday.}

15 Jan 2012 23:50:20
eds is there any truth in costaignos being at melwood ? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

15 Jan 2012 23:36:24
Ed, whats your opinion on Costaignos? What kind of striker is he mate? I havn't seen nothing of him.

Thanks.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96
{Ed002's Note - Blair, I asked around and feeling is at the level are or should be, I am told perhaps one for the future.}

That is "one for the future" like Carroll, Henderson etc.....

Hie Blaire, longtime, well this chap is more like a well-rounded attacking striker/midfielder, who has two sweet feet, more od Higuain/Benzema but lighter. Cheers DanieRed
