No go for Liverpool's Mascherano? Javier's dream move to Inter Milan in doubt

Javier Mascherano was left fretting over a proposed £25million move to Inter Milan last night after Rafa Benitez finally began his recruitment drive by snapping up Genoa midfielder Giuseppe Sculli.
Unsettled midfielder Mascherano was pinning his hopes on Inter finally making a bid for him, once funds were in place from Mario Balotelli's transfer to Manchester City.
But former Liverpool boss Benitez made Sculli his priority, instead, tieing up a £5million deal that casts doubt over whether he will follow up his interest in Mascherano.
Sources in Milan point to an already well-stocked Inter midfield and believe that, should an offer be made for Mascherano, it could be as little as £12-15million, (Big Joke) when Rafa was looking to get £50m for him last year.
Roy Hodgson will not let him leave on the cheap and is adamant he must honour his contract at Anfield, in the absence of any acceptable bids.
It looks more like Barca or he stays.

Liverpool Rumours
As a proud Liverpool fan people please stop posting rubbish. It appears that when either a newspaper, SSN or the Liverpool official websites transfer gossip column post a rumour there is a flurry of rumours relating to them. Just STOP it please.

Riise is not coming back first of all. Why? Not only was he turgid in the last two seasons for Liverpool but he is past it.

Ciise? Perhaps the laziest person to ever pull on the red shirt. Horrible attitude, crap player with a bit of speed and a powerful shot.

Crouch? Hardly prolific, and we don't want to resort to long ball football like occasionally occurred when he was here.

We aint getting Forlan, Milner as someone laughably posted, Aguero. Cheap viable options like Konchesky are the best we are to hope for until the takeover. One exception will be a striker not farcical amounts like 256 million for Ibrahimovich more in the 10 million range.

Liverpool have confirmed a £2.3m fee has been agreed with Middlesbrough for the transfer goalkeeper Brad Jones The 28-year-old stopper passed a medical on Monday afternoon and has agreed personal terms. He is expected to complete the paperwork on a three-year contract on Tuesday.
Roy must have seen something in this guy we haven't, who are we to argue with King Roy , home grown plus cheap Roy can work on him and bring the best out of him just like he did with Schwarzer at Fulham.
Cavalieri will be on his way and we should get around £4m for him.

Liverpool Rumours
Fellas !

The eto-masch swap deal is gathering momentum. I would rather welcome the deal. But, rafa is not stupid to let eto go without any money.

Also, if masch is worth 25m, there is no way eto is worth the same! He hardly can give us a season or two.
It would be better if we let masch go for money, enabling us to buy 12-13m striker like ruiz, guiza or remy. They are Good enough to support torres. Save the money and buy a much needed winger !

Blood is 'red' for a reason.

Just heard that Hodgson has pulled the plug on trying to sign Carlton Cole, he has instead turned his attention to signing another English player, Andy Carroll. Carroll would welcome a move to Liverpool and he could be the perfect foil for Torres as he is big, strong and pacy and can hold the ball up well. A fee in the region of £8-10million will be accepted if Hodgson does decide to make his interest concrete with a bid. The reason why he is looking at Carroll instead is due to the fact West Ham won't sell Cole until they have signed a replacement and Hodgson doesn't want to wait.
I've also heard that Brad Jones' medical is showing signs of a recent injury that still is healing. My contact is unsure of what the injury is, but more tests will be conducted tomorrow to look into the injury in a bit more detail, but everyone expects it to be okay, and he should sign a 3 year deal and pass the medical tomorrow afternoon.

Liverpool Rumours
Christian Purslow has said that Liverpool will bring in 1 or more players and 1 or 2 more players will also go out. I reckon a Striker will come in as well as Brad Jones who is having a medical at Anfield and will be announced tomorrow or the day after at the latest. As to the players going out, Emiliano Insua seems a good bet as he wasn't even considered in the Arsenal game and we already know we don't want him as we accepted a bid for him earlier in the transfer window. It is looking like Javier Mascherano will have to wait until January or next Summer for a move unless Barcelona or Inter Milan step up their efforts to get him now.

Roy wants another striker but will it be one of these two?

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson stated to the media If the right player comes along, it would be good if we could bring another striker in. But I'd want it to be the right man and I don't think we should go out and just sign someone because we can. It's important if we bring someone in that he really fits the profile I've sketched out. We have a juggling act to perform due to the requirement for English players in the squad.
Andre-Pierre Gignac - 24 year old Gignac Club Toulouse.
2008/ 09 campaign when he scored 25 goals in all competitions.
2009/ 10 less than successful campaign at Toulouse where he only scored 11 goals
Ola Toivonen - 24 year old Toivonen Club PSV Eindhoven
2008/ 09 campaign scored 6 goals in 14 games.
2009/ 10 some good performances with 13 goals scored in 33 matches and Roy Hodgson watched the player play for Sweden last week and was said to be impressed with his performance in a 3-0 win over Scotland.

Heard that Liverpool, spurs and man utd showed interest in bellamy but city won't let him go there . Also Celtic but doesn't want too back too Scotland . Fulham loan was agreed but city then wanted £2m for the loan which ended that . He still has 2/ 3 years at the top so Cardiff is not going to happen yet . Bellamy next club ? Who knows but would love him back at Liverpool but probably only happen if we offered £10m plus

The Eto'o and Masch swap sounds feasible and it would be great in theory, giving LFC a desperately needed quality striker for a player who wants out anyway (although you can't knock his attitude on the field one bit- he was excellent yet again).
But can inter afford to lose a striker right now? or do they maybe have another one lined up, with the recent cash?

Liverpool Rumours
Just want to know your thoughts on the two latest strikers linked with Liverpool. Ola Toivonen and Ricky van Wolfswinkel its just neither player has been at their clubs very long, Ricky signed for FC Utrecht last summer and Ola also only signed for PSV last year. I just think its doubtful Liverpool will get any of them on the cheap due to this fact. I'd be interested to here if you think there's any truth in this or do you think its more fiction as we've been linked with tons of players this summer.

New forward ?

just been looking at who we have been linked with

huseklepp 2m would be a right bargin his quick think he could do a job on the wing to !

Toivonen 5m-10m had a quick look online at him looks like he could do a good job in the cole attacking mid roll to ! as well as up front ?

B ruiz 12m -14m looks class good in the air great in front of goal could send babel the other way

remy 12m plus lot of talk am not a big fan at that price

I'd go for Ruiz or maybe Huseklepp 2m and toivonen for 5m and send nogo to Wba on loan

Liverpool Rumours
This I don't know for sure. Did hear a reliable course discussing it where I work, albeit not to me.

Citeh to give Mancini 9 more games tops, Probably only 5. If Citeh aren't playing like a team capable of winning the League. .Arriva Durci.

This is where L.F.C comes in to it.

Dalglish will be Citeh's preferred managerial choice.

It's well known he wanted the Liverpool job, now everyone and the world knows it, Citeh will offer him the chance to manage at the top again.

Would Kenny take the job ? Who knows, I wouldn't bet against it.

Skysports.com understands Liverpool are preparing a bid for PSV Eindhoven forward Ola Toivonen.

New Reds boss Roy Hodgson has admitted he is keen to bolster his attacking options and Toivonen is thought to be top of his wanted list.

Toivonen is regarded as one of the best young players in Europe after catching the eye for club and country in the last few years.

The Swedish international only joined PSV in January 2009 and he has netted 24 goals in 49 appearances for the Dutch giants.

Liverpool scouts have watched Toivonen in action on a couple of occasions and Hodgson is thought to have cast an eye over him as he scored in Sweden's win over Scotland last week.

now then ! how about that ! £10 m bid going in.

Ed just wondering if you could clear somthing up for me, the penalties from RBS are to the owners and not the club, so therefeore must be paid by the owners and not money coming from the clubs accounts, so no players could be sold to pay off these penalties, I think some people on the site seem to think that money generated from player sales goes straigt from other clubs into their pockets. But surely all this money must be accounted for to balance books and pay taxes etc.

Gman82 {editor's note - I believe that is how it works, yes. That is one of the things Hodgson made sure of before he agreed to take the job.}

Just read the rumour posted re. Eto'o to Liverpool - Not too many people believing it ! But please - Believe - This will happen - Eto'o does not like Rafa's management style at all, and they have already fallen out on numerous occasions.

Eto'o is the type of palyer who needs an arm around the shoulder and to be told how good he is - Not Rafa's style, and Rafa's belief is that he is a bad influence on the younger players.

So, the answer ?? Roughly valued the same as Masch - We need a striker, they want Masch.

Makes sense and would be great business for both parties.

16 Aug 2010 17:04:20
This is from the office of an Accountancy firm that is involved in football transfers AFTER they happen so I have got special no insight derived from being best mates with any footballers dog or audited their budgies accounts. Lets have some Rafa-style facts.

1. When 'Woy' joined us form Fulham, it was an open secret - and stated to 2 sets of journalists at a briefing (Mail and Mirror) - that he had a gentlemens agreement with Al-Fayed NOT to sign or attempt to sign any Fulham players. So forget about any made-up guff about Konchesky, Duff, Murphy returning or anyone else at Craven Cottage.

2. Super-Injunctions. There are a number of these taken out already by footballers. Surprise, surprise, these are taken out by players who are NOT presently (or have been) in the papers. So all the stories, pathetic tittle-tattle about Crouch, A Cole, Gerrard (and wife) etc is a diversion. points to other players, not them.

3. Forget about Aguero, Huntelaar, Remy or any similarly expensive player requiring their agents to start a bandwagon for short-sighted fans to get themselves excited about and repeat on rumour sites. IT AIN'T GOING TO HAPPEN. Agents are offering their clients to other clubs ALL THE TIME and is no indication at all of what is going to happen.

Our transfer policy is clear: irrespective of what happens (or doesn't) on the ownership stakes, we are operating a sell-to-buy policy. And when we do buy, they are preferably English and/ or cheap. The homegrown players rule is dictating this so please, fellow Reds, if you have to post mindless crap, please go and wind up the Mancs on their boards, not here.

16 Aug 2010 16:55:24
I understand that RBS will call in the loan soon if they are not repaid. H & G are not in a position to repay the loan. However, H and G want to make a profit. Any prospective buyer will therefore wait for RBS to act as they will be able to offer a lower price once RBS take action. Consequently, my feeling is that a takeover will not take place until RBS act. If H and G have any sense thay will sell up before RBS step in.

Ed, do you agree? {editor's note - not going to happen when BarCap have set up a credit line which is still available.}

()()

16 Aug 2010 16:38:41
Liverpool are to be taken over by RBS and sold then at no pofit to the Yanks as RBS will sell for the debt owed. This will happen as the take over won't be in place in time to stop the £60 mil penalty on the loan and hicks and gillet can't afford it.

All the prospective buyers are aware of this and that's why they are stalling as they know that the value of the club is going down fast and furiously as there isn't alot of time left and it is also why the Kenny haung deal will go through as he is the one offering a very small profit to the Yanks (£1/ 2 mil each) and that the Kirdi bid has stalled for 2 months as he knows about the situation.

Worse thing is there isn't going to be an injection of cash for Roy untill Jan at the earliest.

But on the pos no more Yanks. back to the prem title for the mighty reds.

Hi Ed

Just a quick question I saw a post about a LFC player who has had a press injunction put in place. what is this all about?? I'v heard the rumours about stevie g but this isn't about him is it?

I would like to know how someone knows its a LFC player if a super injunction is in place ha-ha! The article i read states that it is a England international but that's it. Considering you are not even allowed to mention the individuals name it won't be Stevie G, Terry or Crouch as they were all mentioned in the article.

Brad Jones will join today for an initial £2.25m rising to £2.75m depending on appearances. He will sign a 3 year contract and will either wear number 1 (Cavalieri will be stripped of this number as he will leave) or 13.

I have been told on very good authority that West Ham have made an offer for Roque Santa Cruz which looks likely to be accepted. West Ham are only willing to sell Carlton Cole to Liverpool should they get a striker in to replace him. Liverpool will sign him for £10m.

The Paul Konchesky rumours are completely false. Hodgson knows he isn't good enough for Liverpool and he is still interested in Wayne Bridge. Stephen Warnock is another target despite Roy saying 'No'. This was only to appear to cool interest as he wants negotiations to remain private in case another club pips him.

Norwegian defender John Arne Riise has denied that he wants to leave Roma and return to Liverpool.

The former Reds left-back moved to Italy in June 2008 after a seven-year spell on Merseyside, and was reported to be hankering for the chance to come back to the club by a Sunday newspaper.

However, the Norway international has refuted the claim and said he is more than happy with the Giallorossi.

"I never said I want to return to Liverpool nor in England and I have never issued those statements, " he said.

"I'm happy here and I want to stay at Roma."

Most of the poster on here have a fundamental misunderstanding of how an M&A process works.

Typically it works as follows:

1. They receive an invitation to bid - generally based on a limited disclose of information (called an information memorandum).

2. Once they make a formal written bid investors are then typically given access to more information and some time (usually around 4 weeks) to complete due diligence.

3. After the diligence they are then required to submit a final and binding bid (which can also be subject to 'confirmatory diligence'. This could take another 3-4 weeks.

4. On completion the new owner takes control.

The announcement would then typically take place after stage 3.

To my mind we are now somewhere between stages 2 and 3 so do no expect a final announcement for the next 4-6 weeks.

The 23-year-old is expected to travel to Merseyside tomorrow to undergo a medical before joining Roy Hodgson's squad , according to sources at Remy's club, Nice.

Remy had been tempted by offers from Tottenham and West Ham, whose directors, David Sullivan and Karen Brady, flew to the south of France in an attempt to negotiate a deal, but it was Liverpool's history that tipped the balance and a deal has agreed in principle.

"Liverpool is a legendary club, " Remy told Nice Matin today. "I am very excited by the thought of playing there. It has a magnificent stadium and a fantastic public."

Who got the super injuction? Could it be stevie g because there was all them rumours prior to the world cup. {editor's note - it couldn't be Stevie, newspapers even put out a statement saying it was not him. If he had been involved, then they would not have been even able to comment using his name.}

"I posted on Wednesday that Roy took a private jet to Sweden and did not clam to know why. We have now been linked with Swedish forward Ola Toivonen, seems that's why Roy was there."

You don't think Roy might have done better to fly to Holland where the player lives and works?

IT IS BETTER THAT ROY WENT TO SWEDEN ON WEDNESDAY BECAUSE OLA TOIVONEN WAS IN SWEDEN PLAYING WITH SWDEN AND HOW I SAID ON WEDNESDAY HE SCORED A GOAL AND HE IS THE BETTER PARTNER FOR TORRES BECAUSE REMY IS THE SAME THAT NGOG! AND IF WE HAVE NGOG WHY HE WANT REMY??
PRESS BELIEVABLE TO TOIVONEN AND UNBELIEVABLE TO REMY

Roy is looking at youngster Adam Mathews to cover Aurelio at Left back.
Also i heard Barca may be willing to offer Bojan on a season long loan as part of their bid for Masch. . I don't know however if it is just a loan or with a view to a permenant deal

Roy was in Råsunda in Sweden to watch Sweden - Scotland and Ola Toivonen was playing and scored . .

Comrades!

Desist with linking Liverpool to quality strikers. It is not going to happen unless Hodgson changes to 4-4-2. A quality striker will expect to play, not rotate through a lone striker system.

Pesonally I believe Hodgson is going to stick with the lone striker with three attackers just behind, in which case he has the striker cover in Ngog and if needs be Babel. If he wishes to play 4-4-2 now and again he has more than enough forward players to pair up a temporary strike partnership for the odd game.

Do we even need a 'quality' left back? I thought the line of Agger, Skrtel and Carragher playing a back three with Johnson raiding down the right as a sort of wing-back worked very well yesterday and lesser teams than Arsenal would have been flattened.

I'm certainly far more optimistic about our chances after yesterday's game.

Hey Ed!
3 quick Questions for you!

Will Liverpool be sold before the transfer deadline?

Who are they really trying to sign if it doesn't sell before the end of the transfer window?

Who are they really going to sign if it does sell before the end of the transfer window?

Thanks Ed! {editor's note - 1. I very much doubt it, I would be shocked if it was completed by then. 2. As far as I can find out that depends on sales. If no one goes then a cheap striker will come in, if Mash does go then Roy will be able to buy the striker he wants. 3. If anyone has info on a plan that Roy has made in case the takeover is done in time, then they are not sharing it with me. To be honest I doubt any takeover is going to give him much to spend anyway.}

Hodgson will make four more signings and will sell two more players. Aquilani and Mascherano will both leave for 17m to Sevilla, and 23m to Barcelona respectively. That will free up funds to sign Jeremy Toulalan for 18m, Taye Taiwo 8.5m, Loic Remy 12m, and surprisingly Mesut Oezil for 14m.

I THOUGHT THAT IN 2DAYS MATCH JOVANOVIC WAS BETTER THASN EXPECTED LOOKED STRONG AND FAST. any way onto rumours well my opinion. . .

WE were gettin alot of balls in the box 2day and hadno one realy attack it so i think of all the rumoured strikers crouch would have helped alot to day also i think we could turn agger into a left back he has a good cross confident on the ball wats up with that we dun it with kuyt

SWP in before thursday, with Masch going to Barce for 12 mil and Hleb. And Craig Bellamy in for a small fee around 4 million.

New owners were at the arsenal game according to my sources inside LFC seeing what positions need improving securing deals for asap after takeover. .

All happening inside transfer window you wait and see.

Ok all we really need is a LB and a striker that can bang in 20 goals+ a season . .

Honestly i would go for the LB because N'gog is doing ok . And we don't have enough funds to buy 2 more quality players . So 1 quality player is better dan 2 average players in these positions because we still have a little cover .

Click Believe if you want a quality LB buy or Unbelievable if you would prefer a Quality ST
