What a disgrace that Germany can call up Kevin trapp for their world cup squad who has played only 4 league games for them all season and leave out Karius
wow im in disbelief, go and win the champions league son and stick it to them.

Believable22 Unbelievable16

{Ed025's Note - wait till brover hears that he will be gutted..

15 May 2018 20:51:03
It's a disgrace? Really?

Agree15 Disagree11

15 May 2018 21:11:56
'go and win the champions league son and stick it to them. '

Exactly mate. He'll be the one laughing in the end WHEN we win that CL.

Agree27 Disagree0

15 May 2018 23:39:15
Karius, Van Dijk, Lovren, Robertson and Matip won't be at the WC. I might be a bit selfish here but that gives the bulk of our defence at least 2 weeks more time pre season. Milner Winjaldum and Keita also getting a full pre season I'm not complaining could be a blessing.

Agree44 Disagree0

15 May 2018 23:23:20
Ha ha ha Ed025 😂😂😂😂. The German buffoon “Karius” misses out. Conspiracy 😂😂😂.

Agree4 Disagree11

16 May 2018 07:08:31
Is it a disgrace? He’s only reallly played 6 months of proper football this year and 10 games the season before that.

If you’re not first choice GK for world cups then any other call up is essentially anonymous shy of injuries.

Agree4 Disagree2

16 May 2018 07:54:36
Surely neither were likely to play or even go in the final squad, you normally take three and neuer and ter Stegen will be first choice. Leno will be third and likely not even play.

Agree4 Disagree0

16 May 2018 09:22:24
on the flip side any player not going to the world cup gets a proper rest over the summer and can come back earlier to pre season refreshed rather than burnt out like we have seen a number of players in previous seasons.

Agree8 Disagree0

16 May 2018 09:26:08
I'm surprised either was chosen, but if I was choosing one then it would certainly be Karius over Trapp.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 May 2018 09:31:27
Could it possibly be that Trapp is considered a better keeper than Karius? You'd be hard pressed to find a non-liverpool fan who rates him highly.

Agree3 Disagree1

16 May 2018 10:31:02
Bit of perspective. Karius has played 2 thirds of a season and has been reasonably solid. Doesn’t make him an automatic World Cup selection. When it comes to World Cup squads the Germans know what they’re doing.

Agree10 Disagree0

16 May 2018 11:12:41
Don't know why people keep knocking Karius. His record of clean sheets against games played is as good as De Gea. 10 in 19 games played against 18 in 37 games played for De Gea

Karious averages 1.55 goals conceded per game and De Gea 1.33.

Agree4 Disagree1

16 May 2018 12:10:07
i would put clean sheets down to Vvd more than karius. he punched stoke player in head and pushed the ball to dzeko. how many MOM has he had. performance more important than goals conceded. he's a 7 at best. de gea is a 9 on an off day. We need a 9 Gk or another world class Cb to deal with his flapping.

Agree9 Disagree7

16 May 2018 12:23:59
I'm not knocking him at all and have faith he can be our no1 and continue to improve. i just don't think it's outrageous trapp has been chosen over him.

anyone outraged by that has red tinted specs on, sorry.

Agree3 Disagree0

16 May 2018 12:51:40
No one said it was outrageous that he wasnt picked. It was that he wasnt picked and that a keeper (in fact two keepers but Neuer is more understandable who has basically not played this season was picked while he wasnt.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 May 2018 13:17:38
thank you hjikle for understanding the point i was making about Trapp.

Agree3 Disagree2

16 May 2018 15:17:13
Trapp is a poor keeper by any standard, how he got in ahead of Karius who has been playing actual football is amazing, but he will come back fresh after no extra football so a win for us.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 May 2018 15:53:18
You are right hjikle no one said it was outrageous that Trapp was picked over Karius, the OP said that it was a disgrace. I can think of many things that are a disgrace but that is not one of them!

Agree1 Disagree2

16 May 2018 16:46:25
Comparing stats Karius against De Gea? Come on, even the most blinded LFC fan wouldn't think Karius is in the same league as De Gea, Stats can really contort views of players.

Agree4 Disagree0

16 May 2018 17:08:40
Definitely agree Karius could be a top keeper if he keeps improving like the second half of the season. I think his decisiveness has been his weaker area and no surprise with influence in Migs. VVD seems to have had a really good influence on Karius collecting the ball and when not to. But credit to the lad for taking the pressure of past performances and turning it around. Also, maybe taking Karius to the world up is too soon though, one slip up could imbalance his confidence and impact his performance in the next season, seeing as his confidence is only built of late.

Agree5 Disagree0

16 May 2018 17:42:40
“even the most blinded LFC fan wouldn't think Karius is in the same league as De Gea“

I thought they were both in the premier league 😉.

Agree16 Disagree0

16 May 2018 17:57:15
Boom boom Ron.
In all seriousness tho, maybe Karius just isn't rated by others as highly as some Liverpool fans rate him. It doesn't surprise me he didn't make it.

Agree1 Disagree2

16 May 2018 18:27:05
I think you're after "distort", Lancaster Red ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2018 20:03:09
Sorry but I still don't think Karius is anywhere near good enough for us. He has improved but I think that is more to do with the improved defence in front of him.

Agree1 Disagree2

17 May 2018 07:34:20
'I still don't think Karius is anywhere near good enough for us'

Nah he's not is he mate, he's only part of the team who are in the CL final, but nah not good enough for us is he. Come off it, he's a decent keeper and still very young for a keeper. From what we've seen of him how you can say he's not anywhere near good enough for us is beyond me. He took over the number 1 spot suddenly and then things changed, do you think we'd of been in the final or 4th if Migs was kept in goal? I don't. Give the lad praise, he deserves it.

Agree5 Disagree0

17 May 2018 10:30:22
No contort is fine in the context thanks ha, Karius isn't near top level, he is an improvement in Mignolet and that's where people are thinking he is upto the job, he produce some good performances but still doesn't look like winning us games, he has an unease about him that isn't going away, he made a couple of vital. saves in games at a time when we were rocking but that should be standard, he isn't top level or going to be imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2018 14:00:21
Exciting summer for us Reds and expect a flurry of activity to occur in early June where our targets will be sold on to raise funds for their own projects, this is what I have heard as short listed on top of the
Naby Keita done deal.

Andreas Christensen
Sead Kolasinac
Nabil Fekir
Manuel Lanzini.

Believable4 Unbelievable60

15 May 2018 14:35:25
No interest in 3 of those. Fekir is of interest as we are aware but no contact to Lyon and a deal will be tough. Interest from elsewere and Lyon are hard nosed to deal with.

Agree17 Disagree4

15 May 2018 14:53:54
Andreas Christensen? Lol 😂😂😂😂. And why would Chelsea sell him?

Agree20 Disagree5

15 May 2018 15:28:01
Are you serious Harry? You spend 365 days of the year saying we will/ should sign Jorginho, Kovacic, Modric, Weigl, Insigne, Icardi, Pjanic, Mertens and Koulibaly. Then come here to laugh at someone for suggesting Christensen? 😂

I am going to print a screenshot of this moment and selotape it into my personal dictionary under the word "hypocrisy".

Agree30 Disagree8

15 May 2018 15:32:12
Would love Christensen but there's no chance they'd sell.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 May 2018 15:59:51
His form hasn't been good of late. He is still recovering from the dummies Suarez was selling him. At one point I thought he had left the stadium when Suarez was showing him some moves. He is a mile of Van Dyke for me. No better than Gomez will be.

Agree6 Disagree1

15 May 2018 16:16:27
Wish list
Alderweireld/ koulibaly
Nevas (wolves)
Fekir
Malcom
Keita (done deal)

Think we will end up with fekir and possibly Malcom from that list. Ed001 was saying a rb is a priority but I would rather get one of the names above for cb and keep taa and Gomez there for next season for more experience. Whoever klopp gets I'll back 100% cause I ate some humble pie regarding ox this season and glady so.

Agree16 Disagree1

15 May 2018 16:28:23
Why is Butland in no ones wish list.? 😅.

Butland is no better than Mignolet.

I always follow up on players we have looked at or they have been of interest. Or I would add “ I would love us to sign” in the top of my post. This had nothing and he claims this is as good as fond deals!
I have no problem if someone dream of us signing Messi. Dreams are a path to success 😊😊.

Keeper
Right back
De Ligt.
Ceballos.
Fekir.
Pulisic.

Lanzini is not the calibrate of footballer we should be looking at. He’s very very ordinary at best.

I know Harry, it was just banter mate. I don't believe the OP's info is correct either, but keep in mind that it is a rumours site. These types of posts are the lifeblood of the site. So we shouldn't laugh them off the boards just because they don't match what Ed002, Ed001 or Macca say. Sorry if you took offense mate, I meant it light heartedly.

Agree4 Disagree8

15 May 2018 23:24:47
Chill MK. I would personally love Christiansen at Liverpool. A very good defender. No idea why kolasinac though. He like Moreno is everything but a defender.

Id prefer Hazard from Chelsea over any other player . 1 yr left on his contract . just sayin.

Agree1 Disagree2

16 May 2018 13:12:43
Alisson/ Reina
Right back
Alderweireld/ koulibaly
Ceballos/ ndidi
Fekir.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2018 15:13:15
The Everton keeper was relegated with Sunderland but had been their best player in a very poor season he was making saves left right and center that got him his move to Everton Butland on the other hand is injury prone has had a poor season made many mistakes through stokes season looked poor against us at anfield so why would we buy him? We want a top class keeper who the outfield players no that on a break away they have the best behind them and I am sorry but Karius is not that keeper so we need a massive keeper signing top keepers equals points.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 May 2018 09:37:51
Karius?
Stats show him to be 15th best keeper in premiee league this season.
Not currently good enough for us to win the league.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - stats are nonsense. There is no reliable way to rank keepers via stats.}

17 May 2018 12:09:52
The stat that counts how many soft goals they let in and how many certain goals they saved goes a lon way to rank goalkeepers. Karius stats are poor. We won't win prem whilst we have karius.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no it doesn't. There is a lot more to it than that or Neuer would never have been ranked amongst the best. I really wish people would stop trying to use stats as they clearly do not understand how to read them.}

17 May 2018 13:38:45
1. Butland is a superior and younger keeper than migs. He has come back from a major injury so I would judge his entire career rather than last 6 months.
2.karious is getting more confident, with that and again age comes better more consistent performances.
3. Dr gea was jank for the first 2 year. Again I repeat age and patients has improved him. Both of first two need time.

For me i believe karious will develop into a top class keeper, as will butland so see little point in buying butland if it's to develop him, as we should develop karious. If we buy then it needs to be off the shelf top quality or stick with what we have and spend in other areas.
Another LB (genuine competition for robbo)
Another cb (selling lovren)
Another cm
Another winger/ flexible forward (we will have injury in front 3 at some point, by have 4 to play in 3 place 1 will get every 4th game to rest)

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2018 15:35:50
Ed 01I don't know what your problem is but it seems that no one can have a different opinion from you.
At the end of the day, the best goalkeepers are the ones that concede least goals. I don't care if the goalie can play like Steven Gerrard or if he plays like Billie Bunter if he concedes fewest goals he is the best.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - or it could be that the one who concedes least goals plays behind the best defence. My problem is that people have no understanding of stats. Nothing to do with not wanting them to have a different opinion or I would delete 90% of the posts on here. Touchy people like you are the ones that get all arsey when someone disagrees, I am merely disagreeing with your posting up of stats you don't understand.}

17 May 2018 15:45:20
The annoying thing about Migs is that he could be the keeper we need and his form towards the end of last season meant that we qualified for champions league. But then at the start of this season he starts throwing them in again.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2018 23:51:47
Migs is a terrible keeper. Truly awful.

Hope so be a great loan move in my opinion.

Agree12 Disagree4

15 May 2018 14:35:18
Think it would be a poor move. Scotland is a joke league and we need the lad playing against quality opposition if he's to improve.

Agree11 Disagree24

15 May 2018 14:55:44
It will be good move in my opinion. Yes it may not be the most competitive league but he will get much needed game time. I am sure he will get plenty of games and much more instead of the championship as we all know how "lucky" we are when we send someone in there. The best for him would be newly promoted team to the PL tho, say Cardif but Rabgers will be a good move.

Hes only 18. Getting games at any senior level will be beneficial.

Agree15 Disagree1

15 May 2018 16:46:39
thanks AlecLFC, it is definitely conceivable that we will see some players move north of the border.

This seems like a similar position to Wilson, definitely talented but the step up into mens football is a big difference and to get some experience playing in the scottish league will help him adjust and become more savvy in using his strengths vs bigger opposition.

this is something Coutinho learnt so well, same with hazard these are small players who can go toe to toe with some of the biggest players and match them for strength.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 May 2018 17:29:55
The football may be poor but it's physical and he needs that adult test, he's another that still looks like a boy and needs to learn how to beat men.

15 May 2018 21:52:48
We should not be sending any players to Ibrox under any circumstances.

BozrogMcGurk,
How come mate? Do you not think they would benefit being at a big club playing under Stevie?

Personally I think sending a few youngsters out there would make sense.

15 May 2018 22:43:16
Great move for the boy and for Gerrard.

Agree4 Disagree0

16 May 2018 00:49:39
Exactly what Firmane said. Everyone knows the lad has the skills to be successful at Liverpool, he just needs to get more minutes under his belt playing against men. He's definitely going to learn a lot playing in a very physical league.

All the best to him if it's true!

16 May 2018 06:54:34
Didn’t VVD play in the Scottish league and look where he is now.

Agree5 Disagree0

16 May 2018 09:19:27
A season up North will do him a world of good. He will learn the harsh realities of senior football, will develop him physically and his body needs to get used to playing 20-30 games a season at adult level. Plus he knows Stevie G who no doubt will look after him! Good move in my opinion.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 May 2018 15:11:49
How many players can rangers take on loan? Personally been Welsh and a Liverpool fan I'd love to see Wilson woodburn and ward there. The three w's would shine in that league. ward already has with Aberdeen.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2018 15:12:14
In all honesty can’t see any loan moves for the likes of Woodburn until the end of the window. With the World Cup in June/ July players are going to be given opportunities to impress in preseason whilst the internationals come back at varying points. It’s difficult to judge how to proceed, personally I think he needs to play against men now, get games under his belt and kick on again. Can easily see Klopp wanting him around again next season though, as he’s versatile and can cover several positions. Think it would help him if he could define a preferred position mind. SPL didn’t do Van Dijk any harm did it.
