Evening ed002

Wonder if you can add anything mate please. I no what youve explained about him previously.

My mate has text me banging on about Zielinski saying that he has been told that things have moved on from initial interest and we have now made a move for him and the deal is all but agreed?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained that Liverpool has made an offer to Udinese.}

Eds, I've searched and read most comments I could find on Zielinski but was wondering on your thoughts on him? Do you see him as an upgrade on anyone across our CM / CAM players that are getting in the first team at the moment? I've watched some video's and I think that he looks very good in the transition, doesn't slow down play like Lallana in that sense and has a very good eye for an incisive pass. Considering our squad it just seems a strange one to add more into that area unless he is seen as an obvious upgrade and we'll be mving out a Lallana, Milner etc. Would love to hear your thoughts on him as a player rather and if you feel he is a good acquisition if we get him.

Thanks!

{Ed002's Note - Personally I don't see him as being ready for the first team just yet.}

16 May 2016 08:12:08
He is more of a central midfield player who likes to get forward. I watched a few games of Empoli to look at the player, and I amd no scout neither have watched him as many times have LFC have for sure, but he looked like an average player with a good engine, and a willingness to get about the pitch, but with no specific ability on the ball skillwise or passing range wise.

Thanks Ed002 and also The real AG. Seems like an odd move then - when there are other options that could improve the team immediately. Still, he's pretty well proven at picking up and improving players so hopefully he see's something we don't!

Zielinski can also play attacking mid or on the right side of midfield. I'd say he is more suited to playing in attacking midfield than anywhere else though. He is similar to a young Fabregas I think. Great vision and chips in with the odd goal. Has the quality to glide past people but isn't blessed with pace. Only thing he has that Cesc doesn't is a great work rate.

Would he be a good signing? I think so. I don't see the point in signing him and Gotze though. So it would probably end any chances of a Mario-Klopp reunion. They are too similar players.

It does make sense, this is a quote from Klopp.

"We'll try to find players that will give us the opportunity to become better. If they are better then good, but if they are the same level that would be really good too. Then we can push each other onto another level. "

Because of the number of games and the level they are played at rotation is necessary. Klopp prefers a dynamic midfield 2, right now only Can and Henderson are capable of playing that role. Milner doesn't have the dicipline or positional sense, Allen is too weak can't play a full 90 in that role, Lucas is too slow, Brannagan and Chivrella look young and not physical enough. Stewart works hard but still has improvements to make.

We either compensate and play 3 in midfield, which removes one attacking option, or we buy someone.

If Allen gets sold, we only have 2 CM, when Henderson and Can were injured it showed in the teams performance. Hopefully Zielinski can be a good player if he comes.

forgetting we already bought grujic for that @reus?

Agree1 Disagree0

16 May 2016 16:06:38
I am not forgetting him, if like Klopp has recently played different teams in different competitions, we need 2 CM to replace Can and Henderson.

Tbh I'm not sure on Zielinski, the question is would you prefer him and Grujic with Stewart as the backup. Or Stewart and Grujic as the only alternative to Hendo and Can?

Many fans seem unconvinced with Stewart and want him sold, I do think he looks a player with potential.

agree with you regarding kevin stewart Reus, as for zielinski and grujic let's remember what klopp has said about being patient with new signings, what you are describing is options for our midfield and that can only be a good thing, especially if we suffer as many injuries as we did this year, also klopp may use different combinations depending on which team we face.

I hear Zielinski will be tied up by the end of the week, possibly as early as Tuesday. Never heard of him until recently, hopefully he has a good euros with Poland. Will he be a starter next season or squad player?

Believable6 Unbelievable6

15 May 2016 21:17:06
His value suggest be should be a starter. Why should we spend on a squad player. Are we short of squad players with in the club?

Agree6 Disagree11

15 May 2016 21:32:14
Having seen him a few times since our interest has peaked, he will not get in ahead of a fully fit can or Henderson. So unless we are playing 3 in midfield then I can't see him being anything but third choice. And if we do play 3 in midfield we will have a very diorientated midfield because they would all be forward thinking midfielders. As much as can has decent defensive abilities, he's not a defensive minded midfielder meaning we will be caught out because he can't provide sufficient cover or proper positioning. Henderson is a pure box to box player so that will be his job.

Not sure why we are going for this calibre of player, it seems that even with more money klopp will still rather build up players with some level of quality from scratch. I don't think it's the best policy but if it works it's a masterstroke. As it is I think we need to improve the first 11 with proven quality and I think midfield is definitely a position that needs a better player, along with left back, goal keeper and probably even a centre back.

15 May 2016 21:44:11
I think that Klopp wants to have young legs for heavier rotation in CM next year. Joe allen, even though he has had great impact from the bench, does not fit the 90 minutes style we are trying to implement, and neither does Lucas. I was hoping for Dahoud, but Ziellinski seems like a high-potential talent, him, Grujic and maybe Stewart will be covering for Captain H and Emre next year, with Millner and Lucas providing an option when a 3-men midfield is needed.
At least, that is what I am expecting. Who knows, a pre-season with Klopp might mould Ziellinski into our very own Gundogan, he has the potential based on what I have read on his statistics.

Pictures shown of him wearing a Liverpool shirt given to him by a polish tv channel. By no means a done deal, but would you put it on if there wasn't interest?

Reports coming out, he will sign by Wednesday.

16 May 2016 01:05:57
This is what Klopp does sign players nobody knows and turns them into sters.

Agree6 Disagree2

16 May 2016 02:19:54
I'm hoping so but do people think grujic and zielinski improve our first 11, not a chance IMO but I hope I'm proved wrong.

Agree3 Disagree10

16 May 2016 02:37:38
I watched Zielinski 3-4 times this season as there seemed to be interest in the player, and I must say he looked like an ordinary player. He has a good engine and does well going forward and working back, but he is not great at either. He puts in the effort, but I see no outstanding trait in the player other than his running.

Agree5 Disagree3

16 May 2016 05:29:09
Yet interesting AG, many here heap the praise on Milner and Henderson for their running ability while they both lack in other aspects of their games. If Klopp wants Zielinski, who are we to argue with that?

Agree6 Disagree1

16 May 2016 07:07:10
Brisbane, i disagree. What if klopp decides 10 mil on mertesecker? We as loyal fans of Liverpool must continue to give manager pressure and provide him constructive criticism whichever way we can. No one is above reproach as no one is perfect.

Agree2 Disagree11

16 May 2016 07:24:25
In support of Redmen Reus a little, most of our team ( Milner, Lovren and Origi for example ) looked shocking until Klopps arrival. 50 games later with Klopp and the improvement is staggering.
Maybe this lad is nothing special now, but Klopp sees he can make him special.

Agree7 Disagree0

16 May 2016 07:39:17
Kova_Kova, a value or price does not indicate whether or not a player should be a starter. It is simply what the selling club were willing to accept and what the buying club were willing to pay to get the deal done.
Vardy £1m and Mahrez £450k started ahead of Okazaki £7m and Kramaric £7m.
It is not about the value of the deal, its is about having the right players at your disposal.

16 May 2016 08:20:28
To be fair Brisbane, Milner has contributed to more goals than anyother LFC player this season I believe, so that statement makes little sense to me.

Henderson has his strengths and weaknesses, but I sense this could be a pivotal season for him at LFC.

As for Zielinski, I don't think he is an upgrade on Henderson or Milner. On the subject of questioning Klopp, surely I can put forward my opinion, like everyone else, on what I think? Klopp thought it a good idea to give Migs a 5 year deal, do you think that a good deal? This is just an example. For the majority, I think Klopp has done a good job at LFC so far, but next season is huge, and we cannot keep getting it wrong. Having said that, I hope Zielinski proves me wrong and becomes the signing of the season like Kante.

Agree6 Disagree1

16 May 2016 09:34:33
AG, apologies if you took my comment as meaning that your opinion doesn't or shouldn't count, didn't mean it to sound this way. I just meant that Klopp seems to have a good record of buying young players and developing them, and if he sees Zielinski or anyone else he may wish to buy important in his plans moving forward, then I for one won't criticize him.

Agree2 Disagree1

16 May 2016 09:49:36
all you have to look at is how klopp has improved players in our squad who looked very poor, say lovren as an example he was shocking until klopp came here, also look at lewandenski he was nothing that special before he went to dortmund now he's at BMunich and he won a personal award maybe the german top scorer award, so klopp will buy players he knows he can improve and i have faith in him like we all do or should have.

Agree2 Disagree1

16 May 2016 14:20:57
Don't compare what he did at Dortmund to what he will do at Liverpool. The premier league is a totally different ball game. Yes he can definitely bring in and improve players but in the long term will that win us the league or at least get us challenging, I'm not so sure. Maybe in the bundesliga where there is one team winning it all the time but in the prem it's a lot more competitive. You need proven quality to get you results otherwise it's just a bunch of risks, some players will prosper and some won't and most don't. Everyone's too far ahead of themselves with klopp, he's a world class manager but to say matip, grujic and zielinski are improvements to the first team is ridiculous. None of them have kicked a ball for Liverpool yet is probably what I'll hear but I'm not writing them off, I'm just saying from where I can see it none of them are better than what we have already.

Agree0 Disagree1

16 May 2016 14:53:48
kman you have read my post wrong, the players i mentioned that we bought was about what he payed for them, its refreshing we are not spending over the odds, but your wrong about players who improve and don't affect the teams finishing place in the prem, leicester has just proved you wrong about needing proven quality to get results, look at the price of vardy and mahrez, vardy came all the way up from the lower leagues and this season he was used the right way for the leicester team, you must want all these big stars who cost over 20 mill for proven quality, what happend to di maria, he was proven quality but could not hack it, the players klopp has bought look good enough for me and i trust him, in the german league BMunich are one of the top teams they are also one of the top teams in europe so its not just beating one team is it, but if you think klopp won't do what he did at dortmund then that's fair enough, i have to disagree with you, just because they way he has improved the players and also the fact he got us into 2 finals, but hey we have not won anything yet but i think we will, and that will bring more proven quality players to our club so you will get what you crave for.

At least let them pull on the jersey and play before deciding if they are any good or not, I made the same mistake regarding danny ings, and what about firmino and origi not to mention dejan lovren all 3 would be long gone by now if we had not given them time, also every signing is a risk, no matter who it is or how much they cost, and Leicester city have blown your theory sky high Kman92, that is a fact my friend.

Hello ed's was just wondering if there is any news on timo horn? And how do you rate him think he could be a good signing if we could get in contact with koln over him.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - Spurs, Liverpool and one other Premier League side have looked at Horn this season following previous interest of Milan and Valencia which has moved on. Spurs will step back once Lloris signs a new contract which is on offer, and I am sure he will. If Milan were to lose Donnarumma, something they are resisting, they could return for Horn.}

15 May 2016 12:09:04
Thanks ed think he would be a great signing thanks for your time.

15 May 2016 19:19:32
evening ed a lot of talk up here in glasgow this evening of danny ings coming to ibrox on loan next season and this is coming from the same person who broke the story about joey barton. do you have any info for me on this because if this is true it would be a sensational signing for rangers even if it is only on loan. cheers.

Agree0 Disagree6

{Ed002's Note - Rangers were interested in January last year when he was at Burnley. Right now I would not expect Liverpool to be loaning Ings to Rangers.}

15 May 2016 09:01:45
Hey Ed001. Any chance Ings could be on the bench? I know he's only just returned to training, just wondering.
Also, so happy for Suarez. I know he couldn't wait to move on, but he gave his all when wearing the shirt.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - they were hoping he would be fit to take at least some part in the game. I don't know, nor will I ask as the club a long time ago asked me not to give out team details prior to matches, whether that is still happening. I want the club to succeed first and foremost, so, as they said it was giving an advantage to the opposition, I am happy to steer clear of team sheets etc. Sorry, I know it is not ideal for the sites, but the club is more important to me.}

15 May 2016 10:12:13
Well done 001.

Agree13 Disagree6

{Ed001's Note - it has to be done. The club are my first love after all!}

15 May 2016 10:21:50
Are team sheets/ news banned now? I hope so for the same reasons Ed01. The people it benefits most are the opposition.

Agree1 Disagree6

{Ed001's Note - no mate, I just have no involvement in them.}

I hope your wife to be isn't reading, ed. Lol.

{Ed001's Note - she knows mate.}

15 May 2016 12:17:01
I'd say Ed most of us here aren't to bothered about team sheets. It's who's coming and going that we are more interested in.

Agree0 Disagree5

{Ed001's Note - it does make a huge difference to traffic if you can post them up, so it only applies for those here now, rather than those we could attract.}

Thanks for doing that ed, that's completely the right thing to do! Come on reds let's get top 5 and build for next year.
