Not Liverpool related and I hope you don't mind the question Eds but do you have any idea on the future of Breel-Donald Embolo?
Cheers

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Basel's Breel Embolo is a target of Spurs, Red Bull Leipzig and West Ham with Basel aware of interest from all three clubs.}

15 Jul 2015 22:26:59
Cheers Ed

I'm not sure why you even post questions like this on here Ed.
Do you just pretend to imagine that it was phrased in a Liverpool relevant way? Or do you actually enjoy the challenge of a new and complicated-sounding name? I could give you one or two if you like, but, if I'm honest, they'd probably be relevant, sorry. :(

So, what's Allan Rodriguez de Souza up to this summer?

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - I am sorry but Chris has been a very good, consistent and decent contributor who asked a question I happened to know the answer to.

I am sure you will find other editors to abuse elsewhere.}

16 Jul 2015 17:17:07
Chris in Tamworth was here before both the chicken and the egg ;)

Its being reported that Villa and Manchester United have agreed a fee for Benteke just now. Any truth Ed? I know you said earlier that Machester United interest in a striker is elsewhere - not Benteke

Believable1 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - Well if that is what is being reported I am surprised. But at least it means no more repeated questions about strikers for me.}

15 Jul 2015 18:48:30
Wouldn't the questions about strikers intensify Ed2, as I don't see us not buying one and it had come to be accepted that would be Benteke?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not showing interest in any one else - and certainly don't have the money for the likes of Lacazette etc.. And there are no shortage of strikes/forwards at the club already.}

15 Jul 2015 19:11:14
Were has it been reported they have agreed a fee for him?

15 Jul 2015 19:17:55
where has this been reported at ?

He is more suited to their direct play though so maybe

15 Jul 2015 19:36:19
Ed. Appreciate what youve said on the situation mate but anyway you can find out if Utd ate in for Benteke please? The situation could of changed?

{Ed002's Note - I have answered that already.}

15 Jul 2015 19:53:16
Not true .lies ,even on sky sports there rumour wasn't true that it's more cavaliers and Robert lewondaski.

utd are not in for benteke and aston villa are desperate for a sale,sherwood has came out twice in the last two days,firstly that lfc have too many strickers and then today saying if anybody offers the buy out clause he would probably go ?starting to get desperate as they have had no bids.if villa rated lambert at 5 million in jan, why don't lfc offer 27.50 mil + lambert.1 in and 1 out just my opinion.

15 Jul 2015 20:06:48
Ok mate no problem. I see you said he isn't even there second or third choice target. that's good enough for me Ed. Cheers.

United are not in for benteke.it will drag on for a while yet whilst Liverpool find the money villa want.they will sell when their ready

A few reports are saying that Man U are looking to sign Benteke, or are these just scare stories to push into signing or moving on Eds?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you mean by "scare stories". Manchester United interest in a striker is elsewhere - not Benteke.}

15 Jul 2015 15:43:56
Is benteke not an alternative to United if they miss out on their first choice?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - They have not shown any interest in him. And he would not be either second or third choice as far as I understand the situation.}

15 Jul 2015 16:21:45
why is that a lot of people have been saying we don't want benteke, won't suit our style etc soon as he is backed to be going somewere else everyone wants him?

Agree2 Disagree2

15 Jul 2015 16:43:17
Ed2 do you know if we have made that offer yet that should see us enter final negotiations with Villa?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, but according to someone in Belgium it will happen.}

15 Jul 2015 16:46:19
I was going to mention that allyblfc, a lot of our fans have been slating him and talking about he's the opposite of what we need, all the mancs I've spoken too believe they are signing him and can't wait to sign him up.
They reckon he's a great striker and they say it's going to be sweeter as they've gotten one over on us. Funny how opinions vary eh?

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 17:36:38
I'd guess that a lot of Liverpool or United fans haven't seen enough of Benteke to form a sensible opinion - I certainly haven't. What I do know is that his stats look good (which is good) but that he's apparently a big lump who won't suit our playing style (whatever that actually is).

I think that because he's not coming from a top foreign club then folk think he's rubbish. As he's got PL experience I'd probably take him ahead of someone like Higuain who has spent his career in slower or less physical leagues.

I just hope he doesn't turn out to be more money wasted.

15 Jul 2015 19:45:10
It could be a media trick to make Man utd look weak when Benteke finally signs for us. Certainly wouln't be the first time.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 20:06:20
Eds, does that sort of stuff happen (media tricks)?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool fans are seemingly of the opinion that media hacks sit around the office plotting stories about Liverpool. In reality they can be found in cheap bars playing spoof - which is difficult when they have palms on both sides of their hands.}

Conspiracy theory for the day: Bogdan has been given the Number 34 jersey even though 1 is free.

Might we be surprised by a new keeper? Could Big Mig be the "surprise" departure?

Oh don't get my hopes up, lol!

Can't remember, did Jones have no 1?

Mignolet out Handanovic in? If only.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 16:40:47
Mignolet was great the second half of the season even with the leeky defence

16 Jul 2015 14:05:48
he is the reason for the leaky defence

Got a mate down in London who does cleaning audits. Anyway he claims he carried out an audit for someone linked to Tottenham whom he can't name due to company confidentiality policy.

The rumour he was told is that Tottenham have a strong interest in Adam Lallana and will look to complete a deal this summer.

You heard anything about this Ed002?

Believable2 Unbelievable20

{Ed002's Note - Nope.}

15 Jul 2015 11:34:59
Would we even consider a bid for Lallana?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has to move players on.}

15 Jul 2015 11:47:20
would be good if true.

Agree0 Disagree2

15 Jul 2015 11:47:47
Hi Ed002, is Lallana the 'surprise transfer' that everyone is talking about?

Thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what "surprise transfers" people are talking about but so far this season Liverpool have added 6 players and have two returning from loans and have only sold one and bought two off from last seasons squad - so they have increased the squad size by five and are trying to get a deal done for Benteke. The only other sales were of players out on loan last season so they are of no consequence. No sales should be a surprise but there are players available - such as Borini (soon to leave) and Balotelli.}

15 Jul 2015 12:09:54
Hope not, he is a good player.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 12:17:38
All due respect Ed2, you brought this "surprise transfer" speculation on yourself when you left a cryptic enough message a few days ago alluding to someone leaving that we, as fans, don't expect to be leaving.

Most if not all of us expected the likes of Aspas, Alberto, mario, borini, lambert, possibly Lucas to leave(possibly other names that allude me right now) so aside from these "expected" names anything other than them would be considered a surprise departure.

As always we do appreciate anything you choose to tell us so it's not being held against you and I'm not having a dig at you

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I said there was a player who might leave but it would be unexpected that was all - I have since explained it would not be possible given the price given to his agent by Liverpool. So that was the end of that - but to date Liverpool has spent considerably more on transfers in and buying off players than they have earned through sales - and with the likely Benteke to come the club need cash and they need spaces in the squad.}

15 Jul 2015 12:37:33
Well I must have missed the follow on message about prices quoted as I wasn't aware of that. I suspect more people weren't aware of that either if the speculation persists! Point taken nonetheles. As for balancing the books I can barely keep my bank balance in a healthy position so I don't want to even try get my head around the complexities of a football clubs finances!

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 13:16:54
Idiotic to sell Lallana. Write off after a stop start season? Ridiculous. Play him in midfield, he is better than any other attack minded midfielder we have.

Agree1 Disagree1

15 Jul 2015 13:19:25
What is a cleaning audit and how can checking on cleanliness give any insights into Lallana's future.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - maybe it was a typo and he meant his mate cleans Audis? Just kidding, it is when you have someone go round checking that the cleaning is done properly, in layman's terms.}

15 Jul 2015 14:09:52
The suprise transfer would obviously be Marchovic.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 14:11:14
Well, thanks Ed. I have a mental image of a cleaning auditor checking how well a toilet has been cleaned while the guy in the next stall passes on transfer gossip.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if it is good enough for MI5, then it is good enough for us to find out info from!}

15 Jul 2015 08:29:03
Morming Eds

Is Borini on West hams radar?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - No, not that I am aware. I still expect a transfer to Lazio to go through unless Fiorentini, who only wanted a loan, suddenly change their stance.}

15 Jul 2015 06:33:19
Being reported that Liverpool interest in Zenit St. Petersburg striker Salomon Rondon is intensifying, and it appears that the Reds are actively trying to seal a deal worth £15 million.
Some info about 25-year old Rondon:

* 2012: Became the most expensive Venezuelan footballer in history when he signed for Rubin Khazan in a €10m deal.

* 2013: Broke the record for most goals by a Venezuelan player in La Liga.

* 2014: Cost Zenit St. Petersburg £15.8m.

* Malaga: 27 goals/7 assists in 72 apps (Goal/assist every 2 games)

* Rubin: 25 goals/3 assists in 56 apps (Goal/assist every 2 games)

* Zenit: 28 goals/8 assists in 55 apps (Goal/assist every 1.5 games)

* Totals: 80 goals/18 assists (98) 183 apps (Goal/assist every 1.8 games).
Worth a bid???

Believable10 Unbelievable17

15 Jul 2015 08:59:33
I have absolutely no idea what Rondon would bring as I haven't watched him play. Would appreciate comments from people who have seen him play (in real matches, not just YouTube!).

However, I remember one of the Eds (Ed001, I think?) saying he's not the right player for us.

So £15m may be half of what is being mooted for Benteke, but for a player who isn't right for us (based on opinion of someone I trust with these matters) and is untested in the premier league and is already 25, doesn't seem like such a great deal to me.

Happy to be proved wrong, but seems like too much of a gamble.

* 2013: Broke the record for most goals by a Venezuelan player in La Liga.

Haha, what a record to have, can't imagine much competition

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 09:42:25
@op6, exactly ya. Also the calculator seems to be broken and figures rounded down when it suits.

@Slaphead, worth a bid? I would say no. Why bother with him, we need either someone clearly a step up on what we have (other than a fit Sturridge) and he's not that.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 12:22:55
Just going to say that it seems your post is based on wishful thinking and being a Rondon fan. The facts you decided to include being the main pointer here. What is the speculation more precisely?

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 12:36:49
Would prefer Rondon to Benteke if I am honest

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 16:52:00
benteke is better than Rondon by a country mile due to a better upside to improve as well as experience in the PL. i watched Rondon at the Copa America and was not impressed at all.

Howdy eds, couple of questions.
Do we still hold interest in Carlos Vela and Sergio Romero?
Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - well we did track them last season, but we are not currently making any kind of move for them.}

15 Jul 2015 15:32:11
That's unfortunate as both would be cracking additions to the team Romero would definitely challenge for no.1
