any alarm bells ringing yet eds regarding Rodger's / FSG's inability or unwillingness to hold on to promising players (Sahin, Assaidi, Coates) and failure to attract the likes of Remy and M'Villa who are about to sign for a club favourites for relegation?
Learpholl {Ed002's Note - Liverpool made no effort to buy M'Vila or Remy.}

Stop with the Remy and M'Vila stuff. If they were really that good they would not be available such a low prices. Also bigger clubs would be trying to buy them as they have been hyped for the last few years. {Ed052's Note -

Remy has been offered massive wages, no doubt a release clause if QPR are relegated and a possible future in the Premier League if they stay up. No lose Mercenary.

rikdangerous

But ed why don't they try to get this level of player is it because of there attitudes. Antrim Red {Ed002's Note - No, it is because Liverpool cannot buy every player that comes on to the market. Managers will look to players who fit a system and will look to continuously refine and improve. You seem to be suggesting buying Loic Remy because he is available - caring not that his performances at Marseille have been poor for sometime.}

Lets stop getting upset at missing out on M'Villa . He's been awful this season and was voted in two separate worst team of season so far in France. He is not player he was last year. He also has major off field " baggage "

Djimi

Remy and m'vila will both be poor in this league rodgers has scouts everywhere if they don't look good enough we won't bother simple as trust brendan

Hold onto promising players? Sahin, yes a very classy player but up for the Prem, not really... Assaidi, skillful yes but why hasnt Bren used more of him, some of our U18s / 21s have more presence and forgive me for mentioning that last time I looked Coates is a Liverpool player, his problem is Skrtl and Agger I'm afraid, he'll get his chance.

Remy, again why are none of the supposed 'big guns' in for him - Mercenary looking for a payday, we can't sign everyone just make sure the ones we pay transfer fees for actually perform...

Think it says more about them than LFC

Weird-last time I checked Assaidi and Coates were still ours-despite not ripping up any trees. And who would M'Villa and Remy displace from our starting 11?

As far as i am aware assaidi and coates are both liverpool players. Dont know what inability to hold onto them is. If we don't want them we will let them go. What about our ability to sign suarez, sterling, suso, wisdom, agger, skrtel and also sign sturridge all to long term contracts.

I don't understand why some fans insist that it is the fault of the managment or club owners for not keeping hold of players. I wish people understood that there is a lot of analysis that goes on behind the scenes at a club. To apply the logic that players should just train and not play competitivley is foolish. Look at fergie who uses the loan options to his squad to improve them!! if we where to apply your logic then we would still have players like deggen, darby, el zhar, sinama pongolle and the likes. There have been too many mistakes over the years and i for one am glad we are opperating at a level that we can sustain. It wasnt that long ago that we could have ended up like rangers for mi handling our finances. If the CLUB decide to loan players out then good it will benefit us in the long term by getting game time/ or realising there not going to make the next level so we can sell them on and not continue to pay for them for years. Logic and good finacial management is the way ahead, to criticise FSG or Rodgers is personic if any thing we should be praising them to high heaven for all they have done.

Mondo Rodondo

Have you really ever seen anything from Coates, Assaidi or sahin to suggest they will decent players?
most fans i know can spot if a player has something, or if they will make it straight away.
and all, (well, Assaidi had show a bit in one game) have shown very little.
With the budget tight, and fans crying out for new signings, surely it would makesense to cleanse the wage bill a little

16 Jan 2013 09:07:37
thats his point eds we are not looking at quality players, iys because we have no money to buy these players, and we don't want to pay over the odds on wages, that's why we never got lewis holtby for free, it was his wagers {Ed002's Note - You talk of Liverpool not looking at these "quality players" Remy and M'Vila. Let me explain about them and why they are so cheap: Loic REmy has been struggling at Marseille for the past year and the club are very upset that the value of one of their prized assets has dropped so far. They hung on as long as they could in order to get a decent price but in the end were left with low offers for an under performing player who was struggling to get a game in Marseille at all - and they had to let him go. M'Vila has had a torrid 6 months with multiple discipline related issues and very poor on field performances for Rennes. Interest from the higher-end of the market had gone and rather than let his contract run down he has been sold to a club that had an acceptable offer on the table and offered a deal that was acceptable to the player himself. I remain astonished that so many care so little about who the club buy - just as long as they are seen to be spending money on players. Sturridge was absolutely trashed on these pages, but after a couple of goals he is the Messiah amongst the fickle. Lewis Holtby did not join Liverpool because Liverpool did not express an interest in him - it was nothing to do with wages.}

Assaidi and Coates could both prove to be very good players given the opportunity. It is only the ability of others in the squad that play the same role that is keeping them out.
CR

I was not referring specifically to M'Villa and Remy but to young available talent that we seem to be overlooking for whatever reason (asking Forren to undergo a trial was farcical too by the way). As for Sahin, much was made of his arrival at Liverpool-remember he was one of the 'exciting' new players that BR brought in to the club. My question remains the same-did Sahin, Coates, Assaidi etc, all become bad players overnight? We all know that Borini won't make it and will be next out out the door. And finally, we're deluded if we think Shelvey is going to make the grade-physical presence alone won't cut it at this level-and that's all he has going for him!
YNWA
Learpholl {Ed002's Note - I suspect you have been misled about Forren. Coates and Assaidi are squad players at best at this level - nobody has suggested Sahin is a"bad" player. I see writing off Borini after a lengthy injury and saying he will be next to leave as pretty disrespectful to the kid.}

To the un-named poster I completely agree with you re people who want new signings, any signings, as long as it's a new face.If they had their way our club would be bankrupt, we'd have a gigantic first team squad, and we'd still be mediocre.One guy posted that "we've missed out on a brilliant young CB in Forren".Hands up and be honest how many people had ever heard of him before it was said he had been offered a trial?

eds do you know of any conrete interest in any players .. a midfielder perhaps with sahin leaving and allen out of form? and any loan deals on the horizon?

tom1975 {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new to add today Tom.}

Is that you Incey?

No not incey

well bugger it eds

I heard that dorrans of west brom or adam llallana where being looked at jsut what iv been told an thought i'd spread the news

15 Jan 2013 22:31:57
Sneijder will sign for Gala in the next 48 hours. Liverpool were never in for him as BR doesn't want him simple as that.

15 Jan 2013 22:20:48
Just spoke to a mate who is a massive Celtic fan & always seems to get decent info. He tells me Michael Owen is on his way to Glasgow. I know it's not exactly LFC news but it is of some interest

Scotish football player haha

No chance at all, dd (Celtic fan)

So he'll be injured and unfit to play in Scotland instead of England.

The Plank

Owen wouldn't get a game for us even if he was fit, dd

15 Jan 2013 21:46:08
Hey Ed, I don't believe we will get Sneijder (having said that, I didn't think we'd get Suarez either!), but I do hope there is something in it. I just think it would be ideal for us! I just find it a bit strange that Gerrard said we could do with a few more experienced players, then the Sneijder rumour comes up. Is there any chance at all Ed or is it just wishful thinking? And what is your opinion of him?
Cheers mate,
DublinRed. {Ed002's Note - I think it most unlikely still. It should become clearer from tomorrow.}

Probably a stupid question Ed but do you mind telling me why tomorrow?
Cheers mate,
DublinRed. {Ed002's Note - Ah well. As of today an exclusivity agreement is no longer in place allowing Inter to talk to other clubs who may be interested in making an offer. Up to now all of this discussion regarding Liverpool making a bid, talking to Sneijder etc. has been absolute BS and a complete waste of effort in typing. I will summarise as best I can. (1) As part of accepting Galatasaray's offer and exclusivity agreement was put in place that Inter would not talk to any other clubs about an offer and they would not give permission for Sneijder to talk with other clubs regarding any opportunities. (2) Smeijder's representatives did howere continue to approach other clubs to see if a counter offer could be made and on Thursday two previously interested parties were approached but neither would agree to making any sort financial offer that would be acceptable to the player. (3) Following on from the exclusivity agreement there is a one or two day window (I am not sure which but it is really of no consequence) after which Galatasaray's offer to Inter can be withdrawn - hence the push to have Sneijder agree to the move now. (4) Gala want the matter sorted out as soon as possible and there is already agreement over salary with the player, at least in principle. (5) Inter want the matter resolved immediately as they are looking to bring in a replacement they fear losing to another side if they do not act promptly. (6) The player, who can talk publically after the exclusivity agreement has expired, says it is not about money and he wants time to decide on what is a big decision and he will not be rushed. (7) Regardless of him saying that it is not about money, Sneijder (or his representatives) are seeking an additional payment from Inter as part of his departure. The amount is not clear but it seems to be in the order of 1M euros or so. (8) There has been some so far unpublished sniping in Turkey between Gala and a previous suitor Fenerbahce. This has taken the form of Yilderim saying Galatasaray cannot afford Sneijder and Aysal responding with references to some Asian animal stories (that somehow pass me by in terms of meaning) and some bravado about him sending his plane to collect Sneijder who can then decide between the two clubs in front of the cameras on the runway. (9) Regardless of all of this, I would expect a resolution fairly soon.}

16 Jan 2013 19:01:24
BR has stated we need more experience in the final 3rd too so I expect an older player coming in. He's looking for a playmaker too so you just never know I guess.

15 Jan 2013 21:23:06
Ed's can you make clear if you know of course what happened with this Forrem, he's clearly a very talented player with a big future so at 4.2million why didn't we move hell on earth to secure him regardless of having to battle it out with Agger and Skrtel, surely we have the people to convince him, or do we? {Ed002's Note - I know of no interest from Liverpool - a red herring in my view.}

If their was no interest though ED02 why was it confirmed he was to have a trial last night.. to a degree surely {Ed002's Note - Liverpool confirmed a trial?}

I'd never heard of this guy until I read he'd been offered a trial and thought "How many centre backs do we want?Skrtel, Agger, Coates, Carra, Wilson, as well as both Kelly [ when fit ] and Wisdom who could certainly play there tell me we have other priorities.Also how many players can we buy? Every name in any position that might be available brings posts saying "Sign him now!"

The Plank

Smokescreen??

Brad

Vegard Forren was recommanded to Southampton by Klaus Lundekvam, and according to Solskjær, Molde and Soton have an agreement, "in principal".

Rob D

Cannot find anything anywhere to confirm that Liverpool had offered him a trial.Either a smoke screen or the press guessing as usual.

Yes Ed02 Liverpool confirmed he would train with the first team today, also confirmed by Paul Rodgers who works inside the club writing alot of stuff as you'll know so what went on?

Lets face it you watched a video on YouTube an decided he's got talent. Bet you never even heard of Molde yet alone forrem

15 Jan 2013 22:29:46
To be honest I watched the youtube clips and thought he wasn't that good. Looked to lack pace and passing wasn't great.

Also isn't he 24?

Hardly an exciting young emerging talent.

Thomas

What makes you say he is obviously a very talented player - is it because he plays in that incredibly competitive Norwegian league, or maybe a youtube video. His stats are not that impressive - nowhere near the expected talent of Sebastian Coates, think we should buuy him - oh, no need he is already our player.

John B

Plank:
Skrtel, Agger, Coates, Carra, Wilson kelly widsom.
It's clear to me kelly will play right back untill his legs give way, just like carra. Wisdom will be gone in 2 years, quite frankly he doesn't cut it, coates isn't being played because BR doesn't like him (i think he's our best option there) carra retires end of season or at least should!! skrtel and Agger have had a quite frankly attrocious season.

So all our centre backs are basically crap but you'd be happy to sign a CB I [ and probably you ] have never heard of.I'm not that big a fan of BR but I'm less a fan of you in rating players abilities.

The Plank

15 Jan 2013 20:50:37
3 things 1 James Milner is taking lots of bets on him arriving 2 snjeider still possible if a deal for his wages can be sorted 3 the Norway defender has had a bid from Southampton how likely is any of these coming to lfc and if not who do you think might appear before the window cheers

If James Milner is the one taking the bets on him coming to LFC, surely that means he's definitely not coming so he keeps all the money himself and doesn't have to pay out?

Sorry missed the sky bit

FSG won't front any cash, so I doubt any of those three mentioned and doubt anyothers.

Man City to bid for Suarez by/on this coming weekend, £35mil. FSG will bend over for £40mil.

BR will get around £20mil of that, but will have to include all costs, wages, agents and transfer = £10 - £15 mil player possibly Sow?

15 Jan 2013 19:54:54
Eds - Fazio of Seville is the latest player linked, think he's versatile, something BR likes (central defender/holding midfielder). Heard anything? {Ed002's Note - One of the other Eds asked as well. Spartak Moscow, Zenit and Hoffenhiem have spoken with Sevilla about Fazio but suggestions that Hamburg has shown an interest are wide of the mark.}

Not sure how this window will pan out I agree with getting rid of top earners that are surplus and bringing in young hungry players but I can't help thinking that we need two players of decent prem quality . I agree that we need someone who reads the game and breaks play up as that is what the midfield is missing and a true striker as backup, 1st team, Europa whatever just add more option let borini progress with no pressure. Mohammed diame and Peter odemwingie would be my options and could prove relatively cheap and would improve the squad a lot.

15 Jan 2013 19:08:54
Hi eds..i think that liverpool maybe bringing in an CM...any idea who could be a target? Sahin was probably let go for a CM..i can't imagine allen as 1st team player he contributes nothing at all when playing..heard possible targets such as Diame, Inan, Lampard, sissoko and biglia :/ confirm any?
CartyLFC95 {Ed002's Note - Give the search engine a run.}

No more signings in jan!! Sneijder in Manchester apparently

Allen is definitely not doing it at the moment, luckily we are blessed with decent midfielders but a back up DM like diame would be a good option as we need a string combatative player.son think we will buy in jan though

Just seen on the LFC feed we are inteterested in strootman for the summer. Is this a media story recycled or do you actually think we may bid. Thanks

On a completeky differeny subject do you Ed02 see Rangers moving to the conference?

Taffytel {Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Liverpool took a look at Kevin Strootman last season but tentative enquiries were met by a reluctance to sell so soon after arriving. His performances have attracted further interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, Valencia, AC Milan, Schalke 04 and Hamburg. I would be by no means surprised if any of the clubs showing interest or other clubs including Liverpool might push for him should he become available on the open market. However, for now I expect him to move to Manchester United or Milan perhaps in January, if not in the summer.

I was asked a similar question about Rangers whilst on a plane on Friday morning. Personally I really can't see it and it makes little sense for anyone in the short term. I hold a reasonably strong view in terms of the need to restructure football in Europe in any case. For me an eventual a breakaway pan-European league would force the restructuring of many of the national leagues, possibly resulting in a British league with perhaps only a couple of professional tiers and then regionalised amateur leagues below that. Financially I do not see that so many pro sides can be sustained within the sport which, like it or not, will see more and more money going in to the highest levels of the game. Governments will ensure that grassroot sports get funding but everything in the middle (Southern, Northern, Conference, Division 2, Scottish Divisions 1-3, League of Wales will not get the funding needed to continue on any sort of professional basis. For me, Rangers should recognise this and put their efforts in to getting back to the SPL in order to secure an eventual place in the top two tiers of a British professional league that will need to flourish without perhaps six sides that have gone down the pan-European route - and have gone for good.}

Ed do you think its possible LFC would make a push for him in Jan? cheers JF LFC {Ed002's Note - It would be simply speculation to say.}

Just to touch on this ed. Played in the welsh prem and league below it for 3 years before going to uni. Most of the teams don't need funding from the government, many of the teams only pay the ''top'' players and still ask for registrations etc. Most teams are sponsored by 1 firm e.g airbus, rhyl had a glazing company, and this sorted them financially. Just thought I'd let you know, this info is about 5 years old though {Ed002's Note - I think you are actually still right with this information. I was taliking about what will be well in to the future.}

Liverpool are putting a package together for Sniejder. Wether he accepts is up to him. Apparently the wages aren't what he would like but good bonuses and rights.

Really want to believe this but sorry i cannot see it :(

I agree would love this but I just struggle to see it happening

Just looking for people opinions on the fact of the owners so called policy of not buy odder players and that they have no re-sell value. would the point be put across to them that in say sneijder( for the record don't think well get him) case. that he's worth say the 4 yr contract for the fact that by him playing and training day in day out with the likes of our younger midfielders shelvey.allen henderson and lucas. he could pass on so much of his knowleage and in the end help make our younger midfielders become better players. all opinions welcome thanks Anfield For Life

RE: Anfield For Life

That's exactly the reasoning I'd put behind it if I was BR. We are in the balance here in more ways than one, we could get one of the best players of his generation for a fraction of his true value, or be lumbered with a man who has past his peak on huge wages **cough cough Joe Cole** It would be a dream if he came in my opinion; just for the experience he could pass on alone. That's if he has the right attitude and BR is confident he isn't a diva, which he could well be for all we fans know.

SuperDuperSuarez

The buy young policy wich btw never existed, is more a economic reconstruction, by slowly removing the high wage costs and bringing in youth, you get cheaper labour and opotunity, to bring in better players whit higher wage costs, first tho FSG had to evaluate wich players where worth keeping, even tho they had high wages already, im ofc talking about the likes of agger, gerrard and suarez, the basic core of the team, but while this process was undergoing, only young players at surdent age, and resell possiblity where alowed to be purchased, essentialy this described carrol, hendo and downing etc.

Surely for 8.2 million Sneijder wouldn't be a bad investment if he gets us a champions league or europa league spot in 4th or 5th, that would convince suarez the club is moving in the right direction, attract more players to the club and the revenue gained would support his wages.

I agree, a signing like Sneijder might even persuade Suarez to stay another season if we don't get European Football. It could also attract players of a higher calibre. At 28, I think he'd be a cracking investment for the club. A player of his ability would/could take the team to the next level.

I've been told Wesley sneijder is willing to come to us only thing stuck so far are wage demands as Liverpool prefer to pay him less in wages and alot more in bonuses and imaging rights so don't know what's guna happen

Or the fact that he doesnt wana play 4 a team with no hope of qualification in the cl. Wen are we gna wake up an realise we are not the team we once wer, gon are the days of signin world class players, they will go to everton b4 they come here.
Bob marleys taste buds

Wouldn't usually post but enjoy reading the banter. I have also heard we are trying to put together an acceptable package and that Sneijder is sold on LFC. Also I believe Stevie has been asked his thoughts on bringing Sneijder in.

We are simply not good enough for a player Of his quality

Dont worry we won't sign him anyway as our American owners are only interested in buying under 25 yr olds as someone who is 28 is considered too old!
I think we sjould sign him whatever the cost just to keep the likes of Suarez Happy and too put one up Man you who desperately wanted Sneider 2/3yrs ago!

So tired of these stupid comments, why should sneijder pay cause inter have finacial issues, he's a employe he doesnt own the club he didn't make any decisions in regards to there finances, is it he's faulth that he's paycheck is so large that it can pay of alot of debt? im realy realy tired of all the banter towards him, and frankly atm one of THE BEST options he has, liverpool is most defenetly one of em, so quit talking about liverpool not big enough for this guy, its total ludacris, wake the **** up.

Were have you seen all this information? or are you just making rubbish up?

Totally defeatist you lot! We are 9 points off spurs. A good second half of the season and we could qualify for fourth. Even with only sturridge added, we have a chance. Another quality player and then even more likely

Erleichda!

Doesn't that tell you something!? Not a single supposed 'big team' has come in for Sneider. None of them (and no disrespect to Galatassaray). Without even the slightest hint or inclination of trying to do a deal on his wages as some here suggest. Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love to have the Sneider of 2/3 years ago here and if he comes, I hope it's that one who does. But first - it ain't going to happen and second, if it does then we need to lower our expectations for a few months and be a bit more circumspect about why he is not wanted elsewhere. You can bet your bottom dollar, if we can do this kind of deal on his wages then Man U, Arsenal and anyone else can do it too... but have chosen not to.

He's just signed for Saints! LOL

Liverpool is still a big club the name will still attract top players

I like sneijder he is a quality player, but what if he does come hear and not perform after five games or so our nee found fickle fans will slate him saying he isnt good enough and we will end up being stuck with a player on massive wages for at least 3 years. A package to sign sneijder would cost over £40 million including wages and signing fees etc. not worth the risk im affraid

Would love to see sneijder but don't think the board have that ambition they are wanting cheap players on cheap wages get set for mid table footie

Alan Pardew is planning to lure Ajax captain Siem de Jong to St James' Park and hopes that Ajax are amenable to Newcastle United's £9m offer, according to the Daily Mail. {Ed002's Note - Offers have been made by Galatasaray and Fortuna Dusseldorf for Siem De Jong and whilst the player has been subject to general interest from a number of clubs, my understanding is that no one else has put an offer on the table at this time although Newcastle are indeed interested.}

15 Jan 2013 15:48:27
Why did we not try to get Lucas Piazon, as he's gone to Malaga on loan? Could have been an ideal No. 10, very good on the ball and can split the defence with a decisive through-pass.
RedBeer. {Ed002's Note - Paizon has played a couple of League Cup games and 20 minutes of an EPL game. He has gone to Malaga to get experience. If you are suggesting Liverpool would have thrown him in to the first team then feel free to add him to the list of players the club missed out on.}

Are you watching the same player I have been? Don't think he is offering anything better than Suso.

Hmmm.. We do miss out on awful amount of players.. I'm starting to think that maybe we don't go for every available player in the world.

15 Jan 2013 17:01:17
Far better than Suso and more naturally talented. Fact. IMO will be much better than Oscar, Hazard, Mata, etc.

And there's the answer, " a will be" player that's why he was'nt a full squad player for the Chav's, he's gone out on loan for experience!!Nearly19

Loaning one of chelsea's youth players to the detriment of our own youth team. As promising as Piazon may be, we have our own youth prospects who might be insulted should they be overlooked in order to loan in another team's youth player. Maybe we should let Rodgers continue to give our youngsters opportunities rather than mould players for other clubs. I'd like to think we are not quite in that situation yet.

Also Pacheco was dubbed to be one of the hottest prospects to have come out of La Masia but he hasnt quite turned out how we expected. Piazon might be talented but you are expecting him to step up a lot and he is not at Mata/Hazards standards now so we wouldn't receive that benefit from a loan anyway.

15 Jan 2013 15:25:04
hey eds, i have been reading several posts that Ince is moving to Swansea for 7.5 million pounds.....is that true??
MS RED {Ed002's Note - There is certainly interest from Swansea but I do not know of any agreement.}

Of which we would get a large chunk in sell on

The sell on fee alone is enough to warrant why we shouldn't buy him. That extra £2.5 million that we would get as a result can be put to good use (for once).

Yep, the 6m we where going to pay plus he 2.5m sell on we get from Swansea would buy us Wesley Sneijder.

SpudRed

Nah i don't think so. Swansea have just signed Belgium winger luhmala on loan and in my opinion is better then ince

15 Jan 2013 14:53:03
Just an update on the sneijder deal he is prepared to take a 40k wage drop to make the move to liverpool expect news later today or early tommorrow. The reason lfc are denying it is because spurs are in for him aswel and as we all know whp we go for spurs go for.
Thanks
Truered92

Hope you are right. But probably BS

He's not going to take a wage cut - if he was willing to do that he'd stay at Inter...

Face it, he doesn't want to play for LFC

I really hope so, IMO he would be an absolute sensation at Anfield..... He could be the missing piece in jigsaw and give Allen and Sterling much needed rest..... RVP is nearly 30 and look at his performances this season.... Get him in now!!!!!

Not a chance! By the time he has had a trial with you, Spurs will have signed him!

Seriously, enough of this rubbish. I personally wouldn't want such a mercenary and disruptive player...I don't care how good the game players here think he is...he is a nasty piece of work. But, regardless of that this piece of rumour is total nonsense!!

Bang on about Spurs, Wait for Fulham to throw their hat in as well

I don't get why he's being called a Merc. He wants to be paid what Inter agreed in a contract to pay him. Which, incidentally, is about the same as what we pay Stevie G and a significant amount less than what Chelsea pay Torres, Lampard, and Terry and United pay Rooney and RVP, and what Citeh pay basically 2/3rds of their team.

It was an agreed contract and Inter won't play him until he takes a 33% pay cut. So, he feels it best if he leaves. I would too.

SpudRed

Please let this be a true rumour, he would definitely be a great signing for us, and at reasonable money, even if his wages are steep, we need more class in our team, to encourage the younger players to reach teir potential if nothing else!

15 Jan 2013 16:06:42
hes a lfc fan! ynwa

The old chestnut of he's a LFC fan!

All the people who keeps yapping on about sneijder being a greedy ****, how the F... would you know, i honestly wouldn't take a paycut either, inter made some rubbishty deals and it wind up costing em way to much money, this is not sneijders faulth, the club was having problems, 3 years later he would most likely not be in the club, so why should he pay of some of there debt ?

"He's not going to take a wage cut - if he was willing to do that he'd stay at Inter..."

makes me rofl so much, are you serious ?

"Face it, he doesn't want to play for LFC"

how would you know you tak to him?

What a load of BS we will be lucky signing anybody else this window not to mention the next

Can you really blame him not wanting to take a pay cut! If my boss come up to me and said that I had to take a pay cut I'd be fuming! Doesn't mean that we should sign him as I don't think he is the player he was 2-3 years ago but he's still only 28 got another 4 years at the top at least if he gets his head down and works hard! Just depends if we are willing to take a big risk signing him!

Any interest in nene from psg, top scorer last season I think he would fit well in squad?cheers {Ed002's Note - I would have thought him way too old, but still. Anyway, he has already moved on and left PSG, so no.}

Haha i would love this too be true he is my favourite player in fifa haha

I think his going somewhere in the middle east

Where did he go Ed?

Gogol {Ed002's Note - Nene has moved to Al Gharafa in Qatar after a deal with Santos fell through.}

The Torres situation has been covered about 1000 times on this site. He will not be coming back to LFC.
His most likely destination will be back to Spain.

FowlerGod.

How do you know? Stranger things have happened at sea.

Dam this has been done so much since he left, read in to it. He has more or less burnt his bridges with us but everyone knows he still loves the club.

According to a few sources torres has asked Roman Abramovich to let him go on loan to Liverpool for the rest of the season. Oringanly abramovich wanted to use torres as a make weight for a falcao transfer but torres still feels he has a point to prove in the premier league with Liverpool. Does this story seem likely eds? Thanks {Ed002's Note - Don't drag me in to it, sorry.}

Any chace of alex song joining eds? {Ed052's Note - no chancd in a month of Sunday's}

If this is the case, Torres should sack his advisors who coaxed him out of Liverpool by flooding his head with dark thoughts. Personally I'd would love to have seem him working with Suarez as was originally planned.

I know this is a rumour site but c'mon can ir please stop. there's more chance of barnes returning

I know this is a rumour site but c'mon can ir please stop. there's more chance of barnes returning

Again with this bull !
1 . He is not coming back
2 . we DONT want him back
3 . he is rubbish
4 . I can't stress this enough ! Cop on !

A 2013 Anfield rap would be awesome.

Lmao at the Barnes comment!!

Hope the siem de Jong rumours are true, even if it means us losing Assiaidi which I don't want us to do buh if we get de Jong it would be a major gain for lfc. But it depends on if he wants prem football I no he wants to go the bundles liga some day. Any thought on the matter eds ? {Ed002's Note - Offers have been made by Galatasaray and Fortuna Dusseldorf for Siem De Jong and whilst the player has been subject to general interest from a number of clubs, my understanding is that no one else has put an offer on the table at this time.}

"Hope the Siem De Jong rumours are true"

Yep they are. He did miss a absolute sitter from 1 yard!

Thought Luke Shaw was committed to signing a new deal with Southampton ?

"I have spoken with the chairman about a long-term plan for me at the club, " the defender told the club's official website.

"To put an end to all the speculation, I will be committing my future to Southampton. I'm not going anywhere.

"I think Southampton is the place to be for young kids like me." Luke Shaw....Southampton website.

Where do these stupid rumours come from??

They come from "supporters" who know nothing about the subject they have to comment on. I was always recommended that if you did not know, you kept quiet and listened, then when you had learnt you commented and didn't make a fool of yourself! But then, that was before the Internet....!

15 Jan 2013 11:49:35
why is there all this talk of Torres? Chelsea aren't going to part with him for under 15-20 million. It's all a load of BS we will not only be unable to afford the asking price for him but he will also want high amount of wages. Not saying I wouldn't take him back, he would just be too expensive and basically, none of the stories are true, they're just their to keep the blood pumping.

15 Jan 2013 11:40:09
hi eds now lets be serious we won't sign sneijder a person like him self with his class will not sign with a team redeveloping anyway do we have anyway when the loan deal for andy carroll expires do westham have to buy him {Ed002's Note - Andy Carroll is on a loan-to-buy deal of some sort - I don't know the details.}

So was aqualani when he was on loan to ac but we got stiched then as we'll

Forren has decided he wants first team football so he has cancelled his trial and is on his way to Southampton who have made a firm offer and a promise of first team football.

Makes me laugh that a player coming from Norway thinks he would deserve first team football in the prem. Thing is he would probably get a chance at left back. Prove yourself and you become regular.

I think you have missed the point. A Norway international, either your scouting is rubbish or your club is arrogant, and you offer him a trial!

Very strange.

He wouldn't have got first team football here, that's it. I think anyone can understand that reasoning, it's little to do with club stature so stop pretending we've missed out, there are plenty of similar players.

ChrisMiz

Thats because everton were intrested and scouted him.lpool decide 2 give him a trial, do your own scouting, everton didn't want him

Face it most players are no longer attracted by the idea of LFC. Twice now snubbed for a club on the south coast. Welcome to mediocrity. Now the C-list players aren't interested and the potential B-list ones (Sahin) want out. {Ed052's Note - who has snubbed us. Can you name one player in recent years who has snubbed us!?}

Everton did want him as Moyes scouted him twice personally but couldn't afford to buty him!

I don't see the problem in offering a trial even if he is an international player or not. You have to see if he fits in the system with our players.

Lost Ramirez to them as we'll.Not Happy.But in Forrens case, if he'd rather Southampton then our reserves he can't have much faith in his ability or knowledge of our clubs meaning and size {Ed002's Note - Liverpool did not lose Ramirez to Southampton. Where were you all summer.}

Dont blame he lad he won't get played at liverpool anyway, i know where i'd go, i'd rather play then warm the bench,

I'd rather warm the bench an entire career at Liverpool on less money than go to a club like Southampton for more money and more time! Who wouldn't want to say they pulled on the mighty red jersey even if only a squaddy? His loss.

In fairness to the Scandinavians they produce some quality players. In defence at Liverpool I can recall Hyppia was outstanding, Agger is good. From Norway specifically Riise did well at the club and Vegard Heggem was decent at first. Outside of that Hangeland is quality.

15 Jan 2013 09:48:29
Apparently Forrens is away to Southampton to sign a contract. He didn't want to do a trial.

Doubt he would have been good enough anyhow.
CR

Credible, It's on Website now.

To be honest I'd rather give a kid a go than buy a squad player.

Unfortunate, this lad was potentially amazing, wicked left foot, good sense of positioning and composure, dosnt make silly rash tackles like that person Coates.. very able player for 4million, we should of pulled out all the stops here.

Yeah, he is potentially amazing...thats why he is still at Molde at 24 while only had 5 caps for Norway and look who has is signing him..... relegation fodder!

Yes, like we signed Ramirez!

I think you should start to look inward rather than rubbish other clubs.

Why give him a trial, because everton were watchin him and liverpool can't scout players,

I can't contain myself any longer. My father plays golf with a very close friend of Ian Ayre and was sworn to secrecy. Liverpool are in talks with Fernando Torres about a return to Liverpool.Initially on loan, but with the option to buy in the summer. It seems the player is very keen to return North. However, there is a possible problem. In return, Chelsea would like 1st refusal on Suarez, if Liverpool fail to make Champions League. Suarez is interested, but only if Liverpool fail to reach top 4. No figures yet. Will keep you posted.

Haha! Suarez wouldn't dream of going to Chelsea after taking one look at Torres!

I wish you had contained yourself.

Absolute Horseradish!!

Stick to playing Golf or at least stick to your own fan page, Torres is not wanted, needed nor welcome back at Liverpool (as a player anyway). He's moved on and so have we. If benitez can't get the best out of him then no-one can. We now have 3 centre forwards effectively vying for the one spot (although they can all play in that wider role and so we could accommodate all three playing - Suarez, Sturridge and Borini).

If we're not prepared to take a punt on Sneijder at the age of 28 (as he's too old) then why on Earth would we be looking at an out of form Torres at 29?

Swizzmeister-funk

I'm sure your friend and Ian have been playing some excellent golf over the past few days while discussing this...

In other news, I played beach volleyball with Tom Ince in Blackpool yesterday and he said he's 100% going to MK dons.

What gets me the most is the utter crap people post in order to get a reaction. 1. Ian Ayre has with absolute certainty signed something called an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) which, if breached, means big trouble for him. So the probability of Ian Ayre revealing this massive secret to an imaginary golfing pal (your dad) is slim to none. And do you honestly think that in our current position we would swap Luis Suarez for Fernando Torres? Come on lad, if you are going to make things up then at least try harder to make things sound viable. Germanred

You start this rumour with such excitement as though we are getting a great deal, we aren't making champions league this year so were basically swapping Suarez for Torres. Oh great deal that. Do Chelsea want some money as well, might as well give them the lot whilst they continually pillage us.

I played golf with Torres's sister yesterday and she said he should have stayed at Liverpool in the first place but now has to move back to Spain cause he is no longer wanted by top teams in CL

You have a go at me for posting rubbish! Every one throws a mad one in from time to time but this takes the piss. Site has become a joke. It's always been funny but it's abysmal now need to get a grip these cock eds:):):) {Ed002's Note - I want grip cocks that os fine by me but I am not hip to joining in with such things.}

Having played tiddlywinks with Claudia Keane, I hear that Robbie's dream as a child was to re-sign for Liverpool. LA Galaxy are willing to deal if Suarez & Gerrard go in exhange. Suarez is interested but the language barrier may deter Stevie.

Have a nice day.

Jag

Well of course Liverpool are not going to make top four. We will never make top four if we keep loosing our best players

Yvonne

So sick of this Torres crap....just let it go!!!!!

15 Jan 2013 11:02:50
things can happen...if roman wants someone..he gets them..no matter what it takes..
if suarez scores against chelsea at anfield..
you can see probably another 60 mill bid...
accepting or rejecting is up on the hands..
but..you won't get another suarez..
no higuain, no cavani and not even falcao comes close to suarez..
coz..suarez loves liverpool FC

Plus I don't think Suarez would play for them or any other English club after all the abuse he has kopped

I think any post about Torres should be banned just a waste of time.

Big john

Must off been cold playin golf bbrrr.

Saurez is to sign for Inter in the summer! done deal!

15 Jan 2013 17:54:28
I would never risk losing Suarez over Torres! In any case, if we are buy another first team striker why did we buy Sturridge? The lad didn't sign with us to warm the bench apart from the odd League Cup cameo...

You show neither of them respect if you're willing to post it to the world. Highly unbelievable and definitely propaganda

15 Jan 2013 08:07:46
Ed May be I am wrong or I don't have enough brains like others..
But being logic and common snense..
Loic remy is far far better than Paul Ince?

If remy is put out coz of having one bad season...
ince just had one good season...
Liverpool is bigger than QPR and Newcastle by all means...the guy would have jumped to come to us..

suarez sturridge and remy..

Remy is similar to walcot..excellent pace..and good finishing..
7 mill is the price of the year..

and what's the situation with sissokho and mvilla...or ben arfa..
I mean all comes under 10 mill which is ok as per our current situations...

I am not getting why BR has never looked at them..

Common These three players will fi into any footballing formation for any manager...

YNWA {Ed002's Note - The "situation" with all of these players has been explained and can be found using the search engine. Liverpool cannot buy every single player that is availanble and with Lampard, Sneijder, Villa, Torres etc. all nailed on there will not be enough seats left on the club coach to get to them all to away games. And nobody mentions Bafetimbi Gomis anymore?}

Well no one mentions Gomis because we haven't got linked with him lately unless you know something we don't Ed?

No but we never has been buying those kind of players. I don't know why but i think they did loved to splash it on british talent like henderson adam and carroll before, and some stiil. I myself would love to see a player like remy in our shirt. sometimes i feel like we in the middle somewhere, Those players like remy, ben arfa, cabaye for example isnt "good enough for the club" but we still ending up buying less for the same pricetag or often pay a lot more for a lot more worse players. thank you.

I think it goes without saying that Remy is better than Paul Ince, what with Ince being in his mid-40s and all!

Just because a players is foreign doesnt make him better

Well I guess you'll just have to be make due with Paul Ince. Shame we can't get his son Tom Ince who I hear is great.

Ben Arfa been at NU 3 years and played 48 games, Cabaye, 2 years and 52 games. They are constantly injured.

Yeah i agree with the poster. he's definitely better than paul, but maybewe must try signing his son who's better than remy in current form

KrishnaYNWA

Should hope so how olds Paul Ince now?

Gomis is like Shola Ameobi.

15 Jan 2013 07:46:39
I think all these Sneijder tweeting rumours are absolute BS, also us getting Lampard will never happen. HOWEVER when Stevie G come out and said he thinks the team should be getting more experienced players has made afew people have a think, if Sneijder could take a pay cut and we match Gala's £8.25 surely we would all be happy.
Cocko

As i stated before, we need sneigder. If he plays with Steven G in that mildfied, we will make progress and secure 4th position.
They have to arrange and buy him

There is of course Tottenham to consider in this equation, as they have reportedly shown interest / made contact over him. Germanred

If Sneijder were to take a pay cut, he'd stay at Inter. That's the whole reason he's not getting games and now on his way out.

Ojay

I'd be happy to post a screen shot of the tweet I saw. Not sure where to send it though. {Ed002's Note - Don't worry about it.}

More of a question than rumour, but please post and answer...

Reports are now circulating that QPR are in talks with both Remy and M'Vila with both payers being interested in a move to the Prem. If (and I say that because it could all be rubbish) they are both prepared to talk to clubs who could very feasibly face relegation (Newcastle and QPR), and are both available for 7m/8m each, surely we should be having a sniff too? M'vila would make a great alternate to Lucas in the DM / holding role, and Loic would be a good other option up top. Rodgers has previously said that he wants three strikers, and thinks the squad needs more depth, and both these players are affordable, young, open to transfers, and have talent and potential (basically all the things FSG look for). So what I'm asking is are we looking at them, and if not, why not?

PS: Great site Ed's - cheers for the hard work. {Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle, Everton, QPR, Shalke 04 and Lille have shown varying degrees of interest in Loic Remy but there have been no approaches to Marseille regarding Remy from Liverpool. There was discussion with Chelsea about Remy during the negotiations over Azpilicueta but it came to nothing. Remy would be interested in a move to England but his recent form has been poor and Marseille know it will be difficult to get a good price for the player. Newcastle looked very likely complete the transfer of Remy in January, although there was a slim chance that they might face opposition from Everton who made a recent approach to Marseille about his availability on loan. Howver, QPR has now pushed ahead with two offers to Marseille, one of which is a deal invloving a player moving in the opposite direction. As far as Marseille are concerned, they have started looking for a replacement but will hold out to get the best price they can.

Spurs, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Newcastle, QPR, Zenit, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Juventus have all shown a interest in M'Vila over the past year and it was thought that perhaps even PSG and Barcelona would become interested as well - although the well publicized issues have probably put pay to that. However, he was there for the taking of Arsenal in the summer should they have made an offer that is acceptable to Rennes but, again, his recent issues with his National coach has made Arsenal think again. Spurs put an offer on the table - a 15M euro bid which was rejected, something Rennes now regrets. Zenit is another club who remain interested and QPR would look to attract him to London - and whilst I didn't see that as a viable option, he was recently watched again in a match against Bordeaux - as was a young Bordeaux striker. If he were to be available to move this winter, there is going to be no shortage of interest but I suspect he would still be happiest with a move to Arsenal or Newcastle.}

'are we looking at them, and if not, why not?'...cecause we can't possibly sign every single player other clubs are interested in! What's wrong with you people?! Singred

Simple, we don't have the money.

Im totaly with you on why do not we sign players like them? I do not understand why people like to trash the fact that we never have bought a bargain in the last years. Players like REMY, has already proven them self is not like they are 19 years old.
Players like him will score 10, 15 goals in the premiership for any team. And the people that don't think that don't know any football. thanks.

EDS I don't know too many ins and out, but do players possibly sign with relegation battling clubs with release clauses in their contracts because they can then get a signing on fee if the club gets relegated? {Ed052's Note - perhaps one or two, but its so they can still play in the Premiership if the team does get relegated, mostly.}

Everyone moaning that we are not going for players like Remy and m'villa, if there that good why are only bottom of the league QPR interested ?

Big john

'Simple, we don't have the money.'

It's not 'simple'. We do have the money. In the last 6 months we have probably shave half a million a week off the wage bill.

FSG like to portray that we don't have any money, simply because every players asking price goes up when they know we have money to spend.

The other poster was probably more accurate. We can't sign everyone! Although I think after the weekend we need to look at adding a couple of athletes to the squad (big, fast, strong).
M'Vila and Remy would fit the bill...

15 Jan 2013 16:13:24
M'Vila with many reported attitude problems, and Remy who never bothered to make his appointment with Newcastle as QPR flashed the cash.

I wouldn't want either near my TEAM, they are out for themselves and will suit themselves regardless.

Why are they so cheap you have to wonder and why are no other "big" teams going in for them across the whole of Europe?

15 Jan 2013 02:15:43
Fox soccer report here in the US is saying we are about to sign Ben Arfa. Warren Barton is a host on the show. Says Andy Carrol is coming Back from West Ham to Lfc and Then will be swapped for Ben Arfa. They say Newcastle proposed this and has been green lit by both clubs. The only thing is for Ben Arfa to become fit before the transfer window closes. That's the only hold up. This is 100% true. He has already given an interview saying he wants out of Newcastle . Newcastle know this and that's why they want to trade him for Carrol. The fact that the interview has come out means the deal is close.

Why would we accept a player who is touting himself in the press of Europe and his most recent suggestion is that his dream is to play for PSG? Plus the move makes zero sense in terms of what LFC lose over AC. Newcastle have a habit of linking us with players they want shot of and Warren Barton seems a good outlet for their nonsense.

So were going to give them Carroll back who we payed £35m for, for Ben Arfa who is valued at £10m, i doubt it, Carroll is on loan at West Ham with a view to a £17m move so we can't break the agreement otherwise we would have to compensate West Ham a lot of money, as Ian Ayre said the other day it is what's best for the club and letting Newcastle have Carroll back for pretty much nothing is certainly not beneficial for the club, if Ben Arfa wants the move and we are interested then it will be cash only deal.

BigD

Ben Arfa says he wants to stay in England and he said he would like to play for Liverpool, arsenal, Chelsea. Also dinho, a host of fox soccer and who played in the MLS said the sane thing

Bloody hope so love this guy does stuff out of the ordinary gets you on edge of your seat and would defo fit in our system can playanywere across the front.one problem seems to be a bit of a Harry kewell always injured

Andy Carroll has already played for 2 clubs this season and cannnot play for a third in the EPL!

First of all no mater if we paid 1 or 100 mil for andy he right now is worth about 5 or 10 mill at the most. will be a great deal for both sides as newcastle need a foward and Lfc need a good no.10

Just because we paid £35M for Carroll doesn't mean to say he's worth it or that you can value him at £35M.

As for putting a value on Ben Arfa, if you are doing it sensibly then his value would be similar to Carroll's.

However, Ben Arfa is injury prone, so no matter how little we could get him for, where's the point if the physios get to spend more time with him than his team mates on the pitch?

Forren may be bought in for Centre back AND left back cover. Makes perfect sense. Let Coates go on loan somewhere like Sunderland to gain Prem experience.

Forren's going to Southampton....apparently.
