Eds any chance of us getting Kerlon from Inter Milan, don't think he is in there 1st team plans and what Ive seen of him he looks a good prospect he dribbles round players for joke. {Ed002's Note - None.}

15 Jan 2012 23:35:41
I think the south American striker coming in is Jackson Martinez

Ronillz

He dont play in the dutch league

If Jackson Martinez comes this January, then our top 4 chances will be greatly enhanced. Top notch aggressive striker with an eye for goal. Plays with both feet and has a good head as well.

This guy would be my choice but dalglish /commolli probably go for someome like fletcher.

Luc castaignos and coutinho where not in the squad against AC Milan this evening

Square tomato

Theres nothing new there then

Pretty sure Coutinho was on the bench but never came on.

-Shane.

Shane, I watched the game and checked the report as well. Both players were not in the squad. Doesn't mean much, but original poster was right.

Canadian Fan

Coutinho was never on the bench vs Milan
Neostat

Its not really unusal for either player not to be in the squad,as they have both been struggling to make it.Hence all the transfer goss on both of them.

Been watching ssn for like an hour no news at all from melwood :/

Skysports one announce anything untill they know for certiain that somethings actually happening... doubt anything is anyway, r and r on sundays :)

15 Jan 2012 23:03:03
Ed,
any news on this martinez guy {Ed002's Note - None.}

15 Jan 2012 22:55:40
All over twitter this, according to skyitalia Costaignos is at Melwood.. Don't know anything else but that's what's being said {Ed002's Note - It seems rather more likely than some of the other proposals.}

At this time of night

Never heard of him.. wheres he play? good player?

Heard hes gone to everton on loan till end of season any1 confirm or deny this ? {Ed002's Note - Everton certainly had an interest in loaning him.}

As much as I would like to believe this, Castaignos at Melwood at 11pm, not too sure, hopefully they mean he's in Liverpool...

JMS

Nothing on sky italia website about this

15 Jan 2012 21:33:47
ed any interest in stephane el shaarawy, just come on v inter and ripped them apart.

wafa {Ed002's Note - None. Cologne have an interest in El Shaarawy but I think he will stay a while longer.}

Did he really ? Watched the match, and all he did was pick up a silly yellow card ! Not saying that he aint class though :)

15 Jan 2012 22:49:34
Player at Melwood is Costaignos...

Thanks

Mac

Not Macca.....

I hate it when posters try to gain credibility by blatently ripping off the best source of info on this site.

They sign off with a name that sounds relatively similar to Macca's like Mac, Maca, Makka....

and then they copy the way he lays his posts out, like so...

and to top it off they put a little cheers or thanks on the end...

Cheers

ED01 are the rumours true about Teixeira and the other lad joining us? {Ed001's Note - I am not entirely sure, I did say for months I expected a couple of signings, but then it seemed like all our possibles became impossible. Most of our targets choosing to stay where they are ahead of the Euros. Teixeira is someone we have looked at since he starred in the NextGen against us, but he had seemed like a target for the future originally. It is very possible we have decided to move for him because of being unable to get our main targets.}

When did Texeira play us in the NextGen? We played Molde, Wolfsburg and Sporting Lisbon?

Ed001, think you're confused with Joao Texeira from Sporting. Everyones talking about David Texeira from Gronigen.

15 Jan 2012 22:42:25
David Texeira + Luc Castaignos are to be signed this window.

Kuyt will be sold.

Maxi will also be sold if a right offer comes in.

Only thing which is stopping me from believing this is the fact he only signed for Inter Milan 6 months ago.

15 Jan 2012 22:03:18
Hi Eds

I heard on the grapevine Milo Krasić that Juventus want him out of the club and would consider a loan. So any chances of Liverpool going in for a loan deal? we are crying out for a right sided winger with pace.

Thanks

Marc {Ed001's Note - no idea sorry.}

15 Jan 2012 21:49:29
Hey eds, what you think of this then? defoe coming to anfield maybe?

www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/media-watch/dalglish-sets-sights-on-spurs-striker.

Cheers {Ed001's Note - it is from the Mirror, how many have they got right?}

No chance ! But arry was in france tonight watching remy bag a brace

15 Jan 2012 21:44:52
I spoke to one of the youth coaches at Liverpool today and asked him are we going to sign a striker in Jan. He said we would most likely sign one but won't spend a massive amount because we have signed a Mexican wonderkid who will join next summer and is apparently twice the player that Javier Hernandez is.

Marco bueno?DORSET RED

Bueno? Dunno if we've actually "signed" him. But he was definitely here on trial and we've been in discussions..

Yeah his names marco antonio bueno :)

Twice the player !

Wow, 12 feet tall then.

^^ lol

It's Marco Bueno. He's signed for us, but he can't join up until the transfer window after his 18th birthday.

So he'll get us fourth place then or is it another one for the future?

Twice the player !

Wow, 12 feet tall then.

... or he has 4 legs

15 Jan 2012 21:44:43
Any truth in the David Texeira and Nicolas Lodiero rumours? and how likely are we to sign Esteban Granero?

Cheers

KP

15 Jan 2012 21:19:57
How much Hulk of Porto could cost? Whether we showed any interest in him?
Indian Red {Ed002's Note - He would be expensive and has not been considered.}

He has a buyout clause of around 86million apparently

Have heard that his buy out claus figure is in the region of 83.5 mil .... not sure if this is true though!

UNiT

86 million? That's enough to make anyone mad......and green.

I'd love to see him at l'pool but I can really only see him moving to Chelsea because of avb

Only chelsea and citeh could afford him

15 Jan 2012 21:02:35
ed how does the special talent bit work on work permit issues?DORSET RED {Ed002's Note - You make a claim and get some support that such a player cannot be found in this country for a similar price. It is getting tougher to do that way.}

So if liverpool were to sign coutinho or texiera would they try and use this special talent clause?DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - they would have to.}

15 Jan 2012 20:58:15
ed currently watching the milanese derby is there a chance of us signing prince boateng or ricky alvarez, and thiago from barcelona

thanks
wafa {Ed002's Note - No.}

15 Jan 2012 21:06:44
David Texeira currently being watched by Liverpool.

Came after Bruce Grobbelaar hinted that a South American striker currently playing in Holland will sign soon.

He is Uruguayan and the only South American playing in Holland.

Any Truth eds?

No plenty of south americans play in holland...

I'm sure there are other South Americans playing there.

Lodeiro is a uruguian plus there are 2 other that i know of

Theres definitely 6 playing in the Eredivisie however theres theres only 4 strikers (FW)

Gotta be Lodeiro of Ajax for me. Six months left on deal attacking mid who can play wing too. And still only 22-23.

Would be a nominal fee I presume and from what I read been unlucky with injuries but still could be a smart piece of business.

If we get him Coustaganouis and hopefully a third then I'd be happy with that.

Ed what's your opinion on Loiodeiro?

Jonesred {Ed001's Note - looks a good player and shouldn't command a ridiculous fee as well.}

Hi ed i have just been looking on you tube and to me david texeira just isnt good enough for liverpol fc.

David Texeria

15 Jan 2012 20:55:17
Hi eds is there any interest in jesus navas? S {Ed001's Note - no.}

Apperantly, David Texeira will have flying for Liverpool tommorow. Both clubs accept fee and he will come for medical tommorow...

The Enrique to Barca rumors are rubbish- they want Jordi Alba to eventually replace Abidal.

15 Jan 2012 20:34:39
im just wondering why exactly so many people are being negative. despite some bad fortune and plenty of key injuries and suspensions we are definitely still in with a chance of fourth. we wont be making a lot of transfers this january. however, i can assure you, coming from a usually accurate source, KK will be given £25-30 million to spend on a high quality striker (and contrary to the beliefs of the eds luuk de jong is a definite possibility and is being monitered) and right winger (where many names are still currently being considered) with both moves hopefully being completed within 10 days (before the FA cup clash with man utd). also carroll will not be sold unless an offer is made of over £20 million is made and we all know this is unlikely, however, unfortunately in my opinion, allowing kuyt to go is a serious consideration at this point.
BigRedRyan

If i was honest i would sell kuyt whilst we can still get summit for him,been an extremely hard working servant to the club (although iv never rated his end product and tbh am suprised hes lasted this long in a team that should be at least competing top 4. i understand the ownership issues and maybe thats to b considered but thats a whole different topic) but to be fair he has'nt scored in what 19 games now and hes getting no youger. i think he knows his time is up. hes never been prolific, for us anyway and now it seems like hes getting worse. hate to be so pessamistic on a loyal and hard working man but times move on and so so quickly in football. take 5-6 mill an put a few more mill in for a young hungry winger wantin to make a name for himself

The consideration to sell kuyt this winter better be serious. The guy needs to be moved on asap.

BooDaBooze

Wouldn't you love him to get that 50th goal before he goes though?
For the sweat and blood he's put into the team, he deserves it, and would have it (as well as a 100% penalty record) were it not for a brilliant save by howard this season...

x

I hate myself for saying it, as he's been such a hard working servant for the club. But I agree. His time is up now. I'd still follow his progress at his new team because I'm an admirer.

I would love have, what you smoking... Lol

Kuyt 's time is up put i can't see him going till the summer he's having a hard time off it but half the team is and your right it'd be a pithy if he never got his 50th

B a shame if he didnt get his 50th? this is his what 6/7th season with us and that works out an average of less than 10 league goals a season,he has worked very very hard but a return of less than 10 goals a season just isnt good enough imo. people will say but hes used as a winger ect but hes not always been out on the wing. and frankly hes sh**e out there anyway useless at crossing. i think we should take wot we can pat him on the back an say tar.
bulford-widnes ozy

Negative i think not if you think that liverpool should be drawing so many home games without scoring against weaker teams then i say your simply unaware or maybe uncaring as to where we need to be

15 Jan 2012 20:28:43
From what I have been told it is in fact Nicolas Lodeiro we are looking at. Relatively cheap as he is in the last 6 months of his contract.

Macca as always is spot on with the Luis Castagnios signing. Should happen by Weds/Thurs next week and be on the bench for Bolton.

If Kuyt/Maxi go then we may well push through a deal for Hoilett however we are interested but would prefer the summer to avoid additional cost.

That's all for now

Sisco

Thought one of own transfer 'criteria' was players with good injury records. This would rule out Lodiero, who has only who averages about 15 games a season. I thought this was why we went for Downing over Young and Henderson over McCarthy etc.

We didn't go for Downing over Young. Young wanted to go to Utd. {Ed001's Note - we wanted both anyway, it was never a case of one over the other.}

15 Jan 2012 20:27:19
Hello Mates,

just an observation regarding the Granero rumours.

it seems that the same exact quote from his agent has been circulating in the media for several days now. So the fact that multiple media sources are reporting the same thing over several days does not mean it's inevitable.

Not saying it won't happen, i dont have any inside info. But lets not get caught in a single recycled story.

Cheers,
Barnes' Left Foot

15 Jan 2012 20:22:29
any news on that ssn reporter outside melwood hope its true and we got a striker because we badly need goals

Just hope he can find the back of the net

What ssn reporter?

I have watched ssn tonight and there is no reporter outside melwood !!!

Yeah there summat happening outside melwood ..weve bought some new gates

15 Jan 2012 20:22:26
Kenny Dalglish set to change his mind about not signing anyone in the january transfer window as it is quite clear that Liverpool needs an experienced striker in order to get more goals to make a push for the top 4. The name thats come up thats been linked is Fernando Llorente.

Redfilly

Set to change his mind? You know that he'll change is mind before he knws?

Stop spoofing

He never actually said he wasnt going to buy someone, he's very good a giving nothing away, i do fully expect at least two signings, a devolped striker and a upcoming striker for the future aswell as cover

Wish it was soldado instead or better still torres... if wishes were horses...

Thats a recycled story always compare the first and latest, no Loriente
DanieRed

15 Jan 2012 20:16:20
Liverpool need strikers who can score goals regularly. Suarez creates a lot of chances but hasn't actually scored that much and andy carroll is in bad form with little or no confidence. If what bruce said is true and we will sign one of the three south americans playing in holland are they proper goal getters?
ps. Edd what do you think of aduriz from valencia? he's a good striker and not too old
PQ {Ed002's Note - I don't know how old he is now but he has been around for years. I really don't see a move to Liverpool happening.}

15 Jan 2012 20:16:12
Looks like we are about to signe a striker... There is activity around melwood

Fire drill probably

Is there really or you just make s*** up

Lol fire drill

How do you know this ??

Fire Drill - CLASSIC

Liverpool players training maybe??

15 Jan 2012 20:08:09
Not a rumour, just stating how good I thought Nathan Dyer and Danny Graham were today. If they keep up their good form, I think it could be worth a swoop for them in the summer. Both young and english and approaching their peak.

I believe graham is good quality and wouldnt be that bad a signing however dyer is very inconsistent and often his passing is very very poor

Sinclair would be worth a go , young , English , can play in wide areas and could hopefully join a golden generation with Henderson , Kelly, Coates , Flanagan , Shelvey and maybe some new additions

As A Liverpool and swansea fan. I'd hate to lose dyer but if he were to go, then Liverpool would be a great club for him and he would create for our front men unlike a certain mr downing

Sinclair and dyer would both be good additions for Liverpool , maybe on a buy now but they join for next season, gives us time to try and get rid of carroll , kuyt, maxi and maybe downing i think dyer and sinclair would also be on lower wages then downing , maybe do a swap sinclair for downing and maxi for dyer , that wont happen cos who really wants downing

I agree...Swansea looked like Arsenal used to look and were a pleasure to watch...like we were in the first 30 mins against City

'Young and English'. Shudders as a shiver runs up and down my spine.

So no consideration on technical ability or the mental strength to play for a huge club.

Please stop annoying us with this "they are english" bull s**t. We buy players because they are good enough to play for us.

I wish we did buy players but it seems the clubs policy to buy British, i don't think its the best idea but oh well

15 Jan 2012 20:06:37
Hi eds. I heard a Newspaper reporting LFC sent scouts to watch Ajax/Uruguay player Nicolas Lodeiro. What your thoughts, as he IS a top player and will go far?

Thanks

3 goals in 20 games just what we need

Still sending scouts when the transfer window is about to close! It only shows how clueless we are.

15 Jan 2012 20:06:32
Personally

The players id love to see to play for liverpool would be: (Based on our financial options)
Coutinho of Inter- Young prospect, with skill, & technical ability to provide the strikers.. Loves to take the ball to the wing to cut in
and Granero of R Madrid- Impressed real when he was a getafe where Real bought him back.. Typical goal scorer with a brilliant right foot- and he has scored some absolute crackers!

Granero typical goalscorer? Typical bulls**t more like!

Coutinho has no strikers to provide

15 Jan 2012 19:58:01
Barcelona are lining up a summer move for Jose Enrique at 15M according to my spainish roommates dad who workds for Barca in some capacity. Originally after Alba they do not believe he is a good enough LB much better winger and Guardiola believes Enrique will suit them perfectly. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news.
This is the only piece of info I have every got I am not claiming to be an ITK.
Lewis

So you know something but you are not in the know, right I'm with u, wink wink, what a load of rubbish

Surely it will take more than 15m he is the best Lb in the world

Im sure that after the season he has had so far, being the best LB when it comes to defending in the league and not far from the best going forward, im not surprised to hear him being popular, however i can guarantee you that any offer will be rejected out of hand with the player very happy at liverpool and the club having no back up
BigRedRyan

Interesting that Barcelona can choose to pay what they want for another teams player

Enrique is not going anywhere for the next fe years and if he did we would be heavily compensated!

So we have no ambitions of our own and have become a feeder club for the top club. Rubbish! {Ed016's Note - Wouldn't sell him.}

Whilst Nicolas Lodeiro's contract may be expiring soon he will not come cheap . He was signed by Ajax in Jan 2010 from Nacional for 4m on a two and a half year deal. However Ajax hold a one way option to extend his contract. Would be a great signing in my view. Reality Red

Have you checked out his goal scoring record? Hardly prolific, so why would we be interested....?

Because he's a creative player, and he's just come back from injury...
Matt Wollacott

15 Jan 2012 19:50:01
Been told by my Spainish roommate who's dad works in some capacity for Barca that they will do their utmost to sign Jose-Enrique in the summer for 15 M as they dont believe Jordi Alba is a good enough LB, more of a winger.

Jose is worth more than 15mil. Is the LFC LB and he is not for sale

Jose is a great defender, but distinctly average going forward. Not a Barcelona type player I wouldn't have thought.

He defo worth more than that. Awesome defender

15 Jan 2012 19:41:32
Ssn reporter outside Melwood any info what's this for

Oo, hopefully something happening.. we are despratly in need

Havent seen anything

If anything happens tell please, we are in desperate need for some new players creative ones and also ones who can finish!

But really? Would they not switch the camera's on and put a report on SSN??

Just whatched ssn didnt see this !!!!

No reporter outside melwood

BULLs**t ! why do deluded people do this, got my hopes up then !

What a bell. why lie seriously what is the point.

This guy is a prat nothing better to do then spread sh1t

15 Jan 2012 19:38:54
Liverpool are reportedely in talks with real madrid midfielder's agent estaban granero. He has openly admitted in wanting to leave to secure more football and stated that liverpool was a possibility. Another name being mentioned is texiera. He is a 20 year old uraguayan striker playing in the duetch league. He has a good record of 8 goals in 12 games this season and sources say that liverpool could take a gamble on him. Both these transfers are said to be about 8 million pounds. Affordable, but certainly quality.

15 Jan 2012 19:34:35
According to Grobbelar - liverpool wil lsign a south american forward who plays in holland- if this player plays in the Eredivisie

there are only 3 candidates

Jonathan Reis - Brazil/Vitesse
David Texeira - Uruguay/Groningen
Matias Jones - Uruguay.Groningen

Lodeiro sp? Is from uruguay and plays for Ajax

Suarez also played for Groningen before
going on to PSV. That team must have a
scout with a good eye for talent maybe we
should sign him.

Matias jones those welsh were every where

Could he possibly of been referring to Lodeiro as a forward player?

What about Lodeiro = mUruguay / Ajax
Hes apparamtly a close friend of Suarez

Red Dog

Sorry i posted this- i know he hasnt had many chances for ajax but hes scored 12 goals in 54 appearances, of which 3 were scored in the Eredivisie

09/10 - 2 goals 8 apps
11/12 - 1 goal 5 apps
the others were international goals

no proven record with some of these players

15 Jan 2012 19:32:39
Just been told by a friend that David Texeira of FC Groningen and one other player to be signed before deadline day, also there may be a third signing if Dirk Kuyts proposed move to Galatasaray goes ahead which I'm led to believe is still in the negotiating process as prices cant be agreed as yet.

Robo

This would probably be more credible if you had posted this news yesterday, rather than waiting until numerous others got in ahead of you.

Thats True but I only found out this afternoon, I've quizzed my source and he seemed pretty sure about Texeira. Although I'm not sure because he told me about Benzema and that wasn't true and also Adam but that was in January and it didn't happen until June so who knows if it's true, just thought id let yous know.

Robo

15 Jan 2012 19:32:37
Pure speculation..but if its a young South American in Holland it could be Jonathan Reis. Believe he's had problems w/drugs in the past but looks a great player.This is all personal opinion since I believe we've been scouting PSV for some time..eds?long shot?

Cease {Ed002's Note - I am not going to speculate whilst people just throw up random names, sorry.}

How about you just do your job and stop moaning like a b1tch! {Ed002's Note - My job being what? Please will you tell me - and try not to be the coward who fails to sign his post - and why not leave an email so we can perhaps continue this discussion.}

15 Jan 2012 19:30:51
is this Nicols Lodeiro any good then guys? apparently he is the south american who plays in holland we are after..

15 Jan 2012 19:17:49
Question for the Ed's how would Bruce know who kenny is about to sign?

He has nothing to do with the process so is it mere speculation or does it have some foundation? {Ed002's Note - We don't know.}

He is an ambassador for the club so he gets inside info

Wow, shock horror! Man told gossip about goings-on at the place he used to work by former colleagues! Imagine that! Whats the emoticon for smashing ones head on the keyboard?

15 Jan 2012 19:14:47
hi eds, with bruce saying we might buy 2 strikers why would we buy 2 strikers when we have suarez and carrol (and bellamy and kuyt who can play there) does this mean someone is leaving? {Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

We have 4 guys who can play there but how many of them can score/

Suarez should not be the No9 postion, he should play as a No10 or as an attacking winger left or right.

I very much doubt we are signing 2 strikers no matter what Brucie says.Mind you with Andy and Dirk both struggling badly and Craig being 33 next season 2 would not go amiss.

Who cares how many we've already got none of them are scoring Bellamy can't play every week and kuyt is useless

15 Jan 2012 19:14:08
Ed, as I'm sure you are aware it's now gone crazy because of comments made by Bruce Grobbelaar. But he does say "South American striker playing in Holland".

I know it's anyone's guess as to who it is, but d'you reckon David Texeira of FC Groningen could be a good shout?

Cheer {Ed002's Note - Would they sell after only a few months and would he get a work permit?}

15 Jan 2012 19:13:41
The young south american in holland, that Bruce was on about is Groningens number 9 David Texiera.

Jiminy Cricket

15 Jan 2012 19:11:53
In January 2010, Lodeiro signed a contract with AFC Ajax until June 2012 with option of 2 more years.[2] He will join his fellow Uruguayans Bruno Silva and his friend Luis Suárez. His first appearance for Ajax was as a substitute in the match against FC Twente on February 7, 2010. He marked his first goal against Go Ahead Eagles with Ajax on March 25 in the KNVB Beker. Because of an injury he sustained during the World Cup he didn't play a single match for Ajax in the 2010/2011 Eredivisie season

Wikipedia by any chance?

Probably should read and edit when copying and pasting directly from wikipedia before posting on here :)

Anyone seen this guy play , is he any good ?

Yes, I copied & pasted from wiki & what? Some People on here weren't sure of him.

Not trying to deceive anyone, just trying help people out.

Funny inspector cluedo's on here?!

15 Jan 2012 19:11:48
The player whom Bruce G is talking about is David Texeira from Uruguay, plays for FC Groningen in Holland, has 7 goals in 10 games this season, and still only 20. You heard it here first.

If you check the earlier posts you will realise that you definitely aren't the first to post this.....sorry mate!

Hey Ed's, I have a few names I would like to ask you about..... I'm sure you've answered many a question about this player, but what are the odds of us getting Roberto Soldado from Valencia CF? 29 goals in 51 appearances is not bad going at all, eh?..... Also, what about Daniel Sturridge? I know that he is an extremely unlikely purchase for us, but I rate him very very highly. He is fast, young, and has a left footed shot that is as beautiful as Cheryl Cole. Would just like to know what you think the chances of us getting either of these players would be? (Even if Sturridge is a long, long shot). Thanks, Joe {Ed002's Note - Soldado has been looked at but would be expensive - try the search function. No chance of Sturridge right now.}

15 Jan 2012 18:34:37
MARCO BUENO scored twice today didnt realise how much pace n quality this lad has.

ACHILLES.

One of our best prospects IMO.

Just seen the goals, the lad took them well. Eds when will Marco Bueno be available to join Liverpool FC, Sorry if this has been answered prior to this post. Thanks. {Ed002's Note - He can join when he is 18 if the club offer a deal to him.}

Is he on trial with us now?

Roblfc can you stop with these "rumours"?You said that di santo will sign for 12m?who's your source?

Liverpool need a finisher, not a playmaker/provider, and certainly not one who, as far as I can make out, hasn't played competitive football since at least the start of the season. I'm not even sure what club he's with. (I think it might be Celtic, but I follow them, and he hasn't featured for them in over a year, from what I can make out.) He wasn't good enough at Villa; what makes you think he's good enough for Liverpool?

A certain Mascherano was not good enough for a certain relegated former premier league club. 'Nuff said.

Hey Eds,

My football knowledge of the dutch league is not great, so could you tell me any of the possible south american stars in the dutch league who would fit in with our transfer policy? or have been linked?

Read about Bruce Grobelaar saying we may be signing someone from there and was wondering who it may be

Sorry if this question has allready been answered

Thankyou:)

Nicolas lodeiro mate suarez friend only 6months left on contract uraguayan aswell.only 23 i think.DORSET RED

Hi mate, bit of talk about Lodiero of Ajax. He's meant to be the next 'Messi'. Nobodies sure about the second striker he mentioned, as he didn't give a nationality, or the country he plays in. Fingers crossed!

Nicolás Lodeiro is the only one i can think of who fits that bill, good player. Not heard anything about a transfer though.

David texiera (spelling not so sure)

I couldn't find any maybe teixara but...

It could be Jonathan Reis who has a contract with Vitesse Arnhem until the end of the season

Liverpool legend Bruce Grobbelaar has told talkSPORT he believes the club are on the verge of signing a new striker.

With Luis Suarez banned until mid-February, Andy Carroll out-of-form and Dirk Kuyt without a goal since May, the Reds have struggled to score, culminating in a 0-0 draw with Stoke.

But the goalkeeper, who won a European cup and six league titles with the club, understands a new forward will be arriving at Anfield shortly.

There are two strikers [Liverpool are interested in], said Grobbelaar. I know that [Kenny Dalglish] is looking at a South American striker who is playing in Holland and I know that he's quite close in getting another striker.

I'm not going to be the one to actually tell you who, but I'm sure that the striker will be arriving soon.

From the TALKSPORT site.

Who could he be talking about? South american and plays in holland. Hmm, another luis suarez maybe?

Sorry but how would grobbelaar know this much is he still involved with the club in some form?

From this statement its the other striker who is supposedly close to signing

Well the way Bruce has said that or Talksport wrote the article is that there are two players and both seem to be strikers "A South American striker who is playing in Holland AND I know that he quite cose hetting another striker" That would appear as two.

15 Jan 2012 18:10:46

Can add to that, its a loan. Currently no option to buy but its still in discussion. Unlikely that this will be a quick signing and is still quite a bit from being Finalized.

Liverpool interested in Lodeiro

15 Jan 2012 18:05:15
Nicolas Lodeiro will sign from Ajax.
Marius.remember this name

Basically, because Bruce says he's South American, and plays in Holland, You Guess it's him.

I have remembered it from the first time we were linked to him when he was at Nacional in Rafa's days. Was once called the next Messi for his movement

Does this Marius play for Ajax as well? I've never heard of him.

David texeria, one of Groningen top scorers? Only 20 years old uruguay international may be the player grobelaar is talking about? Also help Suarez settle in the country.

What u think eds? {Ed002's Note - I am not going to speculate.}

This would be my guess too! Can't say I know too much about him but our other Uruguayans have seemed excellent value so I won't complain if he's our new striker. In KK (and his scouting team) we trust!

Any ideas for who Bruce was referring to when he revealed that KK wasclose to 2 strikers:-

One south american from holland

Another striker apparently close to signing.

My guess would be nicolas lodeiro - suarez recommended him to ajax and he is now over injury issues - plays like messi!

Its a old quote referring to suarez (south american playing in holland) and carroll was the other one.

If true take it

Wer wud sunderland have got 20m from midway through the season

When they already have a better player in James McClean? Very funny....

I would assume they got it from wherever your H, E, O, and L went.

I hope so, it sounds very plausible because he seems to like English players the same as kenny. When he was at the villa he seemed to spend money that nobody else would for players also similar to kenny so there could be some substance the rumour,

Bruce Grobbelar Has Just Stated On talk Sport That He Knows Kenny Dalglish Is close To SigninG South American Striker Who Plays In Holland And Another Striker Later In The Window But He Did Not Say Who It Will Be!! KENNYS UP TO SOMETHING OR GROBELLAR IS CHATTING S***

David Texeira or Nicolas Lodeiro?

Would love to see Nathan Dyer in a Liverpool Shirt, Come on you Swans.

Has the pace and ability to take on players that we lack. think he signed a new 5 year deal in the summer tho so would command a fee in the region of 10-15m

15 Jan 2012 17:11:35
Right ads Ozil has been bavk to his old decisive passing self. In the last 2 weeks hes created like 10 goals. Been used as a super-sub beeb praised by mourinho fr his performances and as a reward actually played the 90 mins yesterday so can we put an end to these rumours? Mou in december gave him till may to turn his game around and its taken him less than a month to do o. Hes this seasons Bezema lads he is back on the road to being on top so lets forget about him coming to lfc! S

Rumours going on that comolli is finalising a deal to bring in a south american playmaker. And he plays in Serie A. {Ed002's Note - You need to keep up with the posts.}

15 Jan 2012 16:33:32
Eds, you said there's no chance of Dani Pacheco returning, but he's always tweeting about our club and how much he likes LFC... {Ed002's Note - He should have made more of it when he had the chance. Was it him that Tweeted about Hoilett, Sinclair and Bent all having signed last week?}

Shame i like Pacheco think he is like Suarez but obviously not as good, he reminds like Bojan good potential but ain't fulfilled it

I don't recall him having a run in the first team, if Carroll and Henderson can have a serious run I would like to see him and some of our other youngsters get a chance. I can't see how they can do less than we are doing now as far as scoring goals .

Give the guy a break. You are always saying give Andy time, DP never got a chance.

Pacheco was given games, in those games he went missing

Spot on. Again.
We hear so much about players for the future. And needing time. Why? Because we spent big money on them?
There's been players who have cost next to nothing who deserved a chance.
Stop backing Carroll. We all know he's not good enough.

Pacheco was NOT given games he has 5 app for LFC and within 200 min. of game time. Look it UP

15 Jan 2012 16:32:39
From Bruce Grobbelar has just said on talksport that a striker is close to joining one is from South America the other is from Holland so i am guessing that its Luuk De Jong and Abel Hernandez maybe i am not sure on the south american but De Jong is definitely right.
Pistolero714

No he didn't

Luc castaignos

Is it true guys that he's said this?

Burnsy

Dutch guy i'd guess at Costaignos

Corkpoolred

The Inter lad is dutch,so it could be him.Jackson Martinez as always been the attacker I would like us to go for.He his the finisher we need, good on the ground as well as in the air.

Woodi lietoyeh

Pistolero714: Where are you getting this rubbish from? Remember a certain Phil Thompson saying we had signing x and it never happened. {Ed002's Note - Actually it was about Enrique and Thompson was correct.}

Think it's more likely that the striker from Holland is referring to Castaignos.
South American, we could make a list as long as my arm of who we've looked at, but I'd imagine & hope that the Jackson Martinez rumours are true.

Johnny {Ed002's Note -

Have we any idea who the south american is ?

It is true Bruce did say this btw, hope it turns out to be true we need a finisher! YNWA

To back original poster, I too heard Brucie on Talksport. He sounded very confident on these deals. Spot on with his analysis of our team's failings as well.

Phil coutinho is Brazilian ( south America )
He could also be the Loan player.

My mistake ed002. but did Bruce say what someones posted? {Ed002's Note - I don't know but I suspect that he said something along those lines. You do realise this is the final confirmation we were waiting for - Bruce Grobbelar and Macca are one of the same.}

Can anyone confirm that Bruce sad that?

Bruce said south american playing his football in holland

Is it possible ( by the rules) that we could loan both players from Inter ?

Hope he's not taking bets on it

Guys, we need to make clear, did he actually say this, or is someone just making it up?

I dont suppose you can clear this up can you ED?

Thanks
Burnsy

You can listen tothe interview on talksport where he CLEARLY reveals liverpool are close to 2 strikers, one of which is a south american in he dutch league - my guess is lodeiro who was recommended by suarez!

Defo said this.heard it myself while driving back from work but i thought he said south american playing in holland

This is what Bruce said in the interview:
There are two strikers [Liverpool are interested in],. I know that [Kenny Dalglish] is looking at a South American striker who is playing in Holland and I know that he's quite close in getting another striker.
I'm not going to be the one to actually tell you who, but I'm sure that the striker will be arriving soon.
Hope this helps and eds keep up the great work :)

I got it mixed up its a south american playing in holland and we are close to signing another striker by any chance is macca actually grobbelar

Yeah he did say south American playing in holland, just listened again online. He also said there's another player we're looking at. After a quick hunt around at eredivisie top scorers in noticed David Texeira. Scored 7 in 12 games for Groningen. Uruguay u20 international. Makes sense!

Chally

Ps. His full name is Cesar David Texeira TORRES. Ha!

A year late suarez was singed last jan

I think it must be Lodeiro of Ajax if not then Texeira is the only other one i can think of

1) Esteban Granero's agent has claimed that Liverpool are in the market for the Real Madrid ace.

2) Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is said to be monitoring the situation around Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe after news emerged that his agent told the club that the striker wants to leave in this transfer window in order to get more regular starts.

Loic Remy to liverpool

www.liverpool-kop.com/2012/01/agent-15m-france-star-has-his-heart-set.html {Ed002's Note - This is from last summer. I can say with certainty that there have been no approaches to Marseille regarding Loic Remy from Liverpool but a third party (an agent) suggested to Marseille that there is interest from Spurs and some sort of exchange for Pavlyuchenko was proposed which was immediately dismissed. Spurs however are looking at REmy with a chance of a cash bid. Remy would perhaps be interested in a move to a leading side in the summer but Marseille may price him out of the January market as they have no interest in selling at this time unless a very good offer is made. There has been a suggestion that Arsenal could also be interested in Remy.}

Carroll spoke to king kenny and said he needs better service. So does this mean another winger

LfCjbvc

Hope so but don't see it happening anytime soon

He meant a better service on his car.

He meant better service in the club bar...

LJ

Did you mean to say another *whinger*

Room service? Or that special concierge service?

LOL! the person that put *whinger* trying to act smart the other guy spelt it right *winger* HA

I think the 'whinger' post was a play on words, saying that Carroll was blaiming the lack of service for his poor form... just to clear that up for everyone

Oh god if Kenny needs to be told this,then their is something seriously wrong.
It's obvious to see he aint getting the wright sort of service.Downing playing on the right is not helping anyone,least of all Carroll.Both need to do better ASAP

If he said that he should be out the door. Disrespecting his team-mates likes that is not on. He has had the service, he just can't finish.

hi eds
so in summation what is your opinion on any possible spending liverpool could be doing this month?

i only ask such a general question because it seemed in the build up there was much speculation of the signature of the likes of de jong, sissoko, ozil etc but now we are actually in the window it seems there is no interest in these players. if i'm being honest i am a little disappointed at kenny's lack of admittance as to the fact our team needs to sign in order to finish top 4 {Ed002's Note - In summation my view remains unchanged. Sissoko was of interest in the summer, particularly to Comolli. He was available but Liverpool never followed up. I assume Dalglish has no interest. Oezil was never goining to move in January to Liverpool. Interest remains in De Jong.}

The Sissoko situation reminds me of the Turan situation, with Turan Kenny recommend him to Roy, and when Kenny took over he didn't pursue Turan, Comoli recommend Sissoko to Kenny but it looks as if Kenny ain't interested so theres another rumour we can put to bed.

BigD

Kenny is a fool, that what he is. he thinks that building a squad full of english, scottish players will work like the 80's... starting to think he favours them as well!

15 Jan 2012 14:03:28
From a very good source Philippe Coutinho will be the only Liverpool signing in Jan LFC reps in Milan now deal done by the end of the week for 7-9mil. Good prospect but think we need someone who can hit the ground running as he is not the finished article yet. Good signing at the price but would of preferred a quality RW. NGIBO.

If it's true he would be a great signing, great attacking player that can score and unlock teams...

Rob s

Agree Coutinho is a good player and hopefully he is the missing link

We need such kind of player who can dribble past defenders

After Yestrdays performance, we are obviously in need of a good/top striker. However since the race rows, i have noticed we are linked with players of ethnic origins. Now personally i believe we need more players of ethnic origin because we are the only team in the premiership that has no more than one in the first team. I think its about time we stop being linked with players and just buy. The longer we play without a form striker the lower we will go in the league.

What an absolutely ridiculous comment to make !

'We need more players of ethnic origin'

We need players who are going to improve our squad. Their ethnicity has no bearing on this. I am amazed at some of the statements on here !

We need a Modric type of player,

Spurs have Modric, VDV
Cty have Silva, Nasri
Utd have Nani, Park
Chelsea have Mata, Miereles
we have NO ONE !

We have Gerrard and I would hardly count Park as one...

MansfieldRED

Coutinho is a good dribbler, but he doesnt have the knack of scoring. If he can supply in good chances to both Suarez and Carroll then i dont give a damn whether he scores or not. I think he might be up there with the likes of Neymar in 2-3 years time....

Charlie Adam

6 Assists
2 Goals

If we can find a cheaply priced player who can score us goals he can be emerald green for all I care.You do NOT sign players based on the colour of their skin or ethnic origin you buy to improve the squad.The idea we sign a black player becuse he is black is monumentaly stupid!

You named the wrong Coutinho. Google him

A player with genuine pace is what is needed.More often than not they are black,but regardless of colour,we need pace,skill,killer instinct and NOW.

Interesting, we may share a source then my friend. A rather popular bloke that goes by Macca perhaps?

Sorry NGIBO, I checked your past rumour posts and they were all wrong and baseless. In last August alone, you posted several times that LFC is not after Enrique at all- who is now playing for LFC and perhaps the best buy of the summer. Funny that you also mentioned you heard it from a very reliable source.

just heard from a reliable source that kk has set his sights on bringing in wigan starlet franco di santo £10-12mil,imo great potential, bargin. roblfc

The same player that was garbage at chelsea and cant get it the wigan side. doubt it

I would like that signing !

Di santo is terrible

Hope not he wasn't good enough thats why Chelsea let him go.

I think I'd rather sign frank spencer

Monkerhoistin

Wtf we must b turning into a small club.

Not a small club by history or fans , but we are an average club by means of transfer funds . And how is it a good player can not be at a small club .

A reliable source from the land of make believe? If u r gonna lie at least make it believable, at the other end of the spectrum this is as believable as signing hazard, neymar and ganso, toss3r!!?

12 million for "POTENTIAL" I don't think so somehow!

Yeah not 12million for potential needs to be 20 or 35 !

Di Santo has a record of 6 goals in 70 games in the premiership he is terrible. Possibly the worst rumour I have ever read!!

To the chap sayin we are an average club by transfer funds were have u been since last jan?? big money spent on Carroll, Suarez, Downing and henderson not saying the are the best of signings but we have spent alot of money u are defo a manc or a blue

Not at all LFC all the way , just realistic. The money we spent was for the most part generated from sales of players . The eds are saying the same thing . I would love to see Hazzard ect but it's not gonna happen .

Canadian Dave

Seriously, who do you think you're fooling, Franco is worse than walking into you're bedroom to see your patents Going at it o your her post

'morning Ed(s), just wanted your thoughts on a few things. Personally, I believe we need a natural right Winger and a proper goal scorer, like a Higuain, to get us where we want to be. But what would you think of going for Dyer (Swansea) to play down the right? He ripped us apart at Anfield and has pace to burn, not to mention he's also English and young. Also, with regards to transfers, will we still see the same approach in January taken towards new signing ie if viable go get them, or do feel a more cautious approach as summer dealings haven't reaped the rewards..? Ta lads {Ed002's Note - I would not expect that you will see too much activity this month.}

If we did buy a right winger Kenny would play him on the left anyway so what's the point !!!!!!!!

15 Jan 2012 13:26:50
Hi eds just wondering if there is any truth in Lfc's interest in Defore, I can understand why he would want to move as he isnt getting the playing time with Spurs, however you can never really belive what you read in the press but apparently he shares the same agent as downing and henderson and that could possibly be the tipping point for Lfc. I think he's a natural finisher and would be a good addition
Zell {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool.}

15 Jan 2012 13:32:42
would love too see roberto soldado or darren bent at liverpool

Awesome

15 Jan 2012 13:10:14
who is a done deal to come to liverpool eds hope its not fletcher and it is ozil {Ed002's Note - There are no "done deals" just yet and Oezil will not be moving to Liverpool in January.}

15 Jan 2012 13:06:34
Harry Redknapp confirmed that he is in South of France to watch Marseille v Lille, with Loic Remy the reason for his trip. I think its a smokescreen and he might looking at Joe Cole, what do you think Eds.

{Ed002's Note - Joe Cole is on loan for the season so he will not be watching him. As for Remy, a third party (an agent) suggested to Marseille that there is interest from Spurs and some sort of exchange for Pavlyuchenko was proposed which was immediately dismissed. Remy would perhaps be interested in a move to a leading side in the summer but Marseille may price him out of the market as they have no interest in selling at this time unless a very good offer is made. There has been a suggestion that Arsenal could also be interested in Remy. I will see if I can find out more.}

Thanks Ed

Love your work 002

Eds, any decent signings this January, Lost my trust on kenny, saying he won't be active in this transfers is a joke! any person knows we need a strikers, winger and a creative mid... {Ed002's Note - I havbe said from the start that I would not expect too much in January and that the signing will be limited to replacements for those leaving and injured where cover does not already exist - plus any major shortcomings would be dealt with.}

Like our inability to score perhaps

You have no clue, this transfer window was never going to be busy, with the acon and euros at the end of the season no player is going to move and risk their place in their respective squads, so that leaves players that are of a lower quality, and if you want kenny to go and waste the clubs money on trash like fletcher, well that would be far worse. so get a grip, any mojor deals will de done in the summer

We will not get any 'Major deals' in the summer after we finish 6th or 7th.All our targets will go to clubs in the champions league.
Kenny needs to get someone like Hoilett to provide service to Carroll,Bellamy Kuyt.Just one player like a right winger could change a lot of things.Like moving our TWO strikers we already have back into their natural positions.COME ON KENNY/LIVERPOOL we need something!

15 Jan 2012 12:28:39
Mark my words, we are definateley interested in signing Steven Fletcher. Got a feeling we wont succeed, unless he pushes for it (he is a huge Liverpool fan). I believe he would be a good option. His goal return is good, and he's younger than Bent, Defoe etc. Get it done Kenny, you know it it makes sense.

Gord Almighty

It does not make sense, his goal return isnt that good, we need a 20 plus goal a season striker, and that wont be done till the summer

People like you just talk s**t, he is not a huge liverpool fan, away and stop talking rubbish! hes not liverpool class either.

"you know it makes sense"

del boy

15 Jan 2012 12:04:48
Guillem balague's latest tweet, so u can put this rumour to bed.. For now...
@GuillemBalague: Llorente has NOT been contacted by LFC. No intention to leave At Bilbao this season. He would cost now 36m euros, but cheaper in the summer

Cheers
Lee

Don't see why we should go for Llorente anyway. Money would be much more wisely spent on Soldado. Plus, it would be a big blow for Carroll if we were to sign another target man.

15 Jan 2012 11:24:46
Why don't we loan Beckham for 2 months to just stand on the wing and put quality crosses in for Carroll to build his confidence, even if he only plays half an hour as a sub he has quality delivery and Carroll needs it.

I'd rather get relegated than have Beckham as a Liverpool player.

Because he's a manc and not a judas like Owen

From the last games that a I watched I saw quite a few passe going in for Carol but he still failed to score. We do not need any more players to support Carol. What we do need is a striker that can crash down defenses and finish. We can not adapt the whole team for Carol. We play much better without him.

Because Beckham wouldnt p*ss on Anfield if it was on fire let alone play football there

Gav

He'd never play for Liverpool, He's old, the wages and insurance wouldn't be worth it, he's slow when the main thing we lack is pace, He's a Man Utd legend and has repeatedly said he wouldn't play for another EPL club and certainly not one of UTD's fiercest rivals when he could pick so many other good foreign clubs. I can carry on if you want . . .

Carroll's lack of movement is shocking...he doesn't attack the ball or seek space in the box. He just waits for the ball to come to him...a Centre-Half's wet dream. {Ed001's Note - is that why they were pulling him down every time the ball came into the box? If he was that easy to deal with, then there would be no need to foul him.}

Get a Grip!!

He's still a threat, but I have to say watching him recently, poster is right to say he never attacks the ball. He's always at a stand still when the ball reaches him. Still think he'll come good though

Its not a lack of movement from Carroll's part. For me, its his inexperience in positional play. He doesn't really know how to read center halves.

Brian from Birmingham

Ed001...you argue my own point! The ease with which Huth and Shawcross dealt with him was plain to see...all's fair in love and war. Carroll needs to 'up his game'; give Centre-Half's something to think about - big lumbering defenders just love big lumbering forwards - witness Carragher's 'difficulty' against Drogba, Henry etc...who bring that something 'extra' to their game! Carroll needs that!!

If Roy Hodgson had bought Carrol all yoo fickle liverpool fans would be slating him,why not have a pop at Daglish for throwing 35 mil at him,everyone in WORLD football new that was a ridiculous price to pay

Beckham in liverpool red?? Haha I don't think so!! Even if kenny list his mind and went for him can you imagine mr posh reaction? Oh gosh, I mustn't, that be going against sir, and sir would throw the boot at me if one was to join the team across the lancs... Come on lads let's be serious that's like robbie fowler going to join them. NEVER HAPPEN. Never wanted. And never will he be needed by liverpool fc/fans. Dave_o1

Beckham to Liverpool is never going to happen for all the reasons mentioned above. I don't get the post saying that we shouldn't adapt our play to suit the striker e.g If you have a small quick striker then it is absolutely pointless playing high balls into the box. Works the same for Carroll. If he is the only man upfront for us then we have to play to his strengths because that is where our goals should be coming from. Observe the Newcastle game. Didn't do much until Stevie comes on and starts pinging the balls in. He should have had 2-3 goals but think the confidence isnt there to turn these into the net. A bit more of this and some more chances and he will come good once the confidence and supporters are behind him.

I suppose that he couldn't possibly get that service from Stevie G. We have been in the media more than enough this last few weeks, why would we court more with the media circus that constantly follows Beckham?

Hope he goes to Spurs so that the press attention might cause enough of a distraction as to derail their chase for a top 4 spot :)

Bent would hit the ground running and would get the goals that will put us back in the hunt for fourth. Champions league means we are eating at the top table and getting first dibs on the top players. It is the difference between spending 20 million on stewart downing or juan mata. Suarez is also not a finisher. With an out and out goal scorer in our side we would have a great chance of fourth. With the current personnel I would say no chance. Speculate to accumulate, FSG!

Why is everyone interested in bent, he doesnt actually score that much i think its 7 this season, i have said this before but jelen is alot better and cheaper, he is older but alot quicker and is a poacher which is what we need

The career goal scoring record Suarez has suggests he is as much a finisher as he is a creator. When he comes back fresh I suspect he'll prove that.

Soldado is 10 times better than Bent.

Well if we bought another striker who creates chances Suarez would have a s**t load of goals.people keep saying all the chances Suarez gets?? He creates all of them himself! Bring in defoe or swap deal with Carroll and bent....maybe even try to get a bit of money too but the way Carroll plays who'd want him.

No good going for a player unproven in premier league. As for you saying we need to splash more cash, ridiculous!! We've spent the money we had badly. We could of got Mata before Chelsea, got Adeybayour before Spurs or even Aguero before City. This buy just British is.... should I say has backfired! {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were not able to simply buy any player they wanted. For example, there was zero chance of Aguero moving to Liverpool in the summer.}

Not good enough for LFC. We do not need another Carol

Speculate to accumulate what?

Spending 20 M on bent is not going to result in a windfall for FSG.

FSG are not a benevolent Sheik who can throw money a at problem like its water

John Henry does not have huge resources he wants to be successful by other means "the writing is on the wall" try reading it!

Past 7 seasons only players to score more, Rooney and Drogba in total. not that many tho eh lol

I was original poster. Bent is a goal scorer. I would be happier indeed with soldado, if he would come. Bent would come. My point is that an investment now would push this time into the top four bracket. That would be the difference between feeling rubbish as we do today and on cloud 9. I was at both matches this week and spent the last three halves with my head in my hands.

So we really trust Kenny with anymore money? He will move back upstairs in the summer, I'm sorry to say it but we are not going to be competing for any major honours under him. Yes we all love him he is part of our family but let's not bury our heads in the sand. Time for a change at the top. Sorry.

More like just hit the ground

Redman j4t96

I, like many who post, am a season ticket holder. And it is painful to watch sometimes at Anfield as it is crying out for some quality and creativity in front of goal. We all say it. We all know it. And I'm pretty sure Kenny and the staff can see it. But the big issue is both dealing with the financial mess we were in previously, and striving to be an attractive team top players want to play for. Buy I will make one major point. At some stage we will have to start looking at the best in Europe, as Gerrard has continued to carry our club for arguably the last 10yrs. Once his time is over, the TEAM will have to carry the burden.

15 Jan 2012 10:52:22
Soldado will signe for Liverpool this Jan... I was told by a friend of mine who lives in Valencia.

Yea i was told by Pep that Messi would sign in Jan on a free

BigD {Ed002's Note - It is strange that the fans still trash the credible rumours - Soldado being a player Liverpool have looked at.}

I would love too see him sign. By far the best striker we could get.

We signed carroll injured

The only credible rumours on here ed are either macca's or the ones you post, fair enough u eds have said b4 that Soldado is being looked at as is De Jong, Podolski, Sow etc so if everyone starts posting that the ones mentioned by u eds are gonna sign then what do u expect after all it is a rumour site.

BigD

You know weather its credible or not if the poster leaves a name, most don't because its just wishful thinking or they just post what they have read on various sites, id be happy if we pulled it off but don't see it happening in Jan, summer maybe.

I thought it was a bit odd that he was not involved in yesterday's match. I have not heard of an injury to keep him out of the squad. Probably not related, but I do have that glimmer of hope.

He couldnt play he had racked up one too many yellows and was suspended

15 Jan 2012 10:15:20
Hi eds
we r closing in on llorente and defoe {Ed002's Note - Llorente has managed 25 minutes football in seven weeks, and I expect him to stay at Bilbao.}

Agree with the ed on this one, cannot see Llorente moving and Defoe blows hot and cold too much.

BigD

We are known for signing injured players

15 Jan 2012 10:05:07
Ed, is there a chance of Carroll leaving? I have supported him his whole LFC career, but the last few games have been the last straw. He is bloody awful. {Ed002's Note - I really don't know if there is or not.}

Totally agree, I don't think Carroll will ever make it at Liverpool simply because he ain't up to it, his 1st touch, control is poor, he solely relies on crosses, has no pace and goes down far too easy considering his size. I personally believe that we panic brought Carroll, as Torres wanted to leave and the club wanted to easy the pain of loosing Torres which was a big mistake as anyone can see that our style of football doesn't suit his style, so we desperately need to either loan Carroll out or drop him into the reserve team like they used to do and hopefully he will come back stronger next season. That is my opinion on the Carroll case.

BigD

Actually, Carroll is playing better at the minute than hes played for his short time at LFC. He is a pretty shocking player overall, but he doesnt get the games. whereas like at NUFC he played day in day out. Reguardless of cost, you cant expect someone to come in and hit the ground running.

Bet yous were this impatient with Lucas n all. He's just turned 23 and has only been here for an injury-interrupted year. Drogba was still playing for Guingamp at that age.

For a 35mill player i think he looks totaly unfit i would be expecting a lot more for that money suprised kenny hasnt had words with him, will never get the goals you need.

In fairness, if you have supported him all his Anfield career, then nobody could possibly accuse you of being whimsical.

Can't expect to see someone hit the ground running? Carroll has been at Liverpool for a year now, so this is hardly the case. Also, tired of hearing how he just needs to get fit. He is a professional footballer, who LFC paid 35m for. He needs to get his finger out, stop spending games on his bum and score goals (which is what he's paid for). If he can't crack it soon, we need to cut our losses and get shot in the summer.

15 Jan 2012 09:54:22
Hello Eds,
it's not a rumour, just an opinion. I hear that Chelsea prepare to buy Hazard, they've just brought in Cahill. How can Liverpool compete with City and Chelsea who are building their squads for years with loads of cash. We can't get a good striker, maybe no one will be bought by Liverpool this window. And another game with no goals scored. I understand Dalglish's frustration, but the question is : Is anyone coming in? I know that everyone makes mistakes (De Gea) but all of the big clubs are scoring goals and points and the reds are drawing again at home. I don't understand the policy with 5 defenders starting the home game and with Kuyt as a striker? Either LFC need a great striker or, sorry - I love Kenny Dalglish - the manager has to be changed. Any news on strikers coming in? We are in the middle of nowhere and today is the 15th of Jan. Greetings. {Ed002's Note - Chelsea have had a fairly low turenover of players meaning that many have grown older together and therefore they need to do quite a bit of rebuilding - like Liverpool did in the summer. They have an owner who is willing to support that redbuilding. A lot of money has been invested in the Liverpool squad by the owners and many seem to forget that FSG (a) paid a great deal to move the likes of Degen and El Zhar on; (b) paid the outstanding installments on Aquilani whose sale will not even cover those payments FSG have made; (c) are are still paying a contribution toward the wages of Joe Cole and other loan players; (d) continue to pay most of Christian Poulsen's wages. Additionally FSG need to contend with the losses that Liverpool are incurring in the day-to-day running of the club - all with the lack of income from European competition. Add to this the self-inflicted grief of the on and off field issues that have come about this season and perhaps the fans should be thankful that the owners have not thrown their hands up in the air and sold up. I think the owners should be seen as most supportive regardless of whether anyone arrives or not this month. We have explained where interest lies in a number of players and Macca has chipped in as well. Obviously until any deal is completed there is no guarantee but clearly efforts are being made to further improve the squad. However, if the players wanted are not available, I would not expect the management team to spend just for the hell of it.}

Gary cahill aint that special. they are probs doing everyone else a favour by buying gary cahill

Ok, so the owners do all them things (which are good) and don't strengthen and we fall further behind..then does someone get the blame, or do we shut up and be happy? If so, why have ambitions, goals, we may have just kept woy, or Benitez.. {Ed002's Note - The club bought in several new first team players in the summer - the issue does not seem to be strengthening, just that many of the fans are not happy with the players who have arrived. If you still want to blame FSG and force them out and get someone much better in - I hear Kenny Huang may be able to help.}

If we had more astute in the players we were buying in the summer, we wouldn't be in this situation, paid way over the top for downing and Henderson, all starting from last January when we paid perhaps 20m more than we should have for Carroll.

Personally, we are never to going to make champions league cos the team we have is not good enough, and whilst we aren't in champions league, Our revenue will always be down.

We need to spend now to get into Europe otherwise it will be a few more season before we do, but whilst we are out of whirl, none of the top players will want to join.

Instead we will end up buying more mediocre players.

Very Concerned Red {Ed002's Note - The money to do that has already been spent - and Dalglish says he is happy with the squad.}

John Henry is still my desktop background. I think they have done a brilliant job in stablalising the club.

Realistic red

Fantastic response Ed. Many supporters are too critical of the players brought in and forget the fact that these players are still gelling together as a team. These players are still learning what it means to be playing for LFC.

I will not blame John Henry or any of FSG for the problems surrounding Liverpool. If anyone is to blame it is the players Kenny has brought in. Downing, Adam and Carroll are simply never going to elevate us to the the heights we desire. Henderson I do feel when played in the centre can come good. The money given to Kenny has been on the whole poorly invested at this current moment and the results dont lie.
CC {Ed002's Note - Is it the fault of the players or the person who brought them in?}

Other than Suarez, the players brought in don't possess the guile or craft to break down packed defences.Manager must take responsibility. BTW five at the back at home to Stoke, who always park the bus, was just pathetic. Dalglish making his own problems trying to be too clever. Home games becoming embarassing now. This is not the 80's, no one plays back five now. Brought in tall defenders to deal with Stoke, let them worry about us, not dip to their level.
David

Henry has stabilized the club but can he take it forward?

That is the question?

Without huge resources it will be difficult and mistakes in the transfer market add to the difficulties?

Hindsight is great though, I thought Dalglish have pulled a master stroke by signing Carroll just shows how life and come up and bite you when your least expecting it.

I have nothing bad to say about the owners, they have so far, have gone above and beyond the call of duty for the things they have done..I think if the players had come in for half the prices, it wouldnt be as bad, but they have come in on big money, where a lot of fans think it could of been spent more wisely (granted fans aren't football managers but they are intelligent people - well the majority are) the problem is I don't think they are all being used to their strengths, I personally think, its down to who brought them in, and how he plays them..just a small example - martin o'Neill at Sunderland, them players were brought in by Bruce and look, how they performed and subsequently the results that came in..u then bring Martin o'neill in, same players but better performances, better results..I suppose with mark Hughes we will see if same at qpr..

Of course the players have to take responsibility for their poor performances. However there were plenty and plenty of skeptics surrounding Downing many felt he was good but never going to be good enough: me being one of them. Adam again many felt can he make the grade from Premiership struggles to a top side? On reflection no, played well at times but still looks too slow, over weight and form is too indifferent. Henderson I feel has played well when played in the middle again form has been a little indifferent. But Kenny has caused this player a lot of criticism when playing him on the right which has been unfair if you ask me. However 16, 20 mil how much he cost many feel that sort of money could have been better invested. Carroll? 35 Million a gross amount of money, seemed a bit of a panic buy. I thought he'd hit the ground running. For me he can't even do the fundamentals like control, laying off, chasing lost balls for me at this moment in time will never be good enough. My honest opinion.

Enrique has been the signing of the season and Suarez has been a great buy. I'm a little baffled by the Bellamy situation he seems to be playing him in games which I would deem less important. A lot of speculation saying he cant play every game, if that was the case we never should of bought him.
Back to my main point the players do have to be stand up and be counted but the manager buys the players and they're not good enough.
CC

In my opinion, fsg is a big business, and the way i look it, they are interested in young players, so that they can make a high resale value... Lets be realistic fsg is not going to be our owner for another 3 years and will sell LFC for a higer margin to get more profit... you people say that they have invested alot of money, but Their fsg repuation has increased due to buying Liverpool...
Their sports takesovers has generated large amount of profits, they are not interested in developing Liverpool but by making them provide income... {Ed001's Note - rubbish, utter and complete nonsense. There would be no profit whatsoever in selling Liverpool in 3 years, so why would they sell?}

I have no problem with the owners they are doing everything asked of them, kenny and co are the problem he wasted a huge ammount of money in the summer on Carroll downing Henderson and Adam both Henderson and Adam are ok but that's all ok. As for carroll and downing they are awful some of the worst plates to put on the great red shirt and it's nothing to do with them gelling together downing has had so many chance 2 score and he always fails

Guys guys guys...if you'd hav watched all the games we've played this season wer all over teams, I concede we do need a goal scorer but wer not to far away frm bein a top side again, trust in kik, if any1 can squeeze the last penny out of fsg it's him, I personally have wrote 4th place off before Xmas but I still love LFC and will support them 2 the death, it's just frustrating at times.lol YNWA....? Sugar-red

Hurray finally someone mentions Enrique bellamy and Suarez, for anyone to turn around and say new striker or a new manager...?? What the hell... Owners have done a fantastic job!! Kenny has changed the team leaps and bounds for the better. It's a growing team for christ sake, for any one to be calling for new owners and new manager now, I've never heard so much waffle, we are scousers and we stick by our team we make it grow we give it the extra push other clubs only dream of them kind if fans we push scream shout and sing for the team, we don't cry and moan about little problems we leave them for the right people to deal with. Look at last season at some points we were actually thinking of relegation as a possibility, no one will be hurting as much as kenny with our home form, I trust the man will get it right- and he will do. I trust the owners to bring a title - they hungry for it, and they will do.we are Liverpool FC they greatest sorted club in the land. We only have to look at match stats and they tell us we are only short if a Ian rush-John Aldridge-fowler, a goal sniper, from the amount of times we hit wood work from amount of chances from the amount of attacking football we are heading in the right direction. The three I mentioned at start are great signings another couple more either this or summer window and all the better for next season (growing in time and there may be one or two that don't make the cut of what is expected in this or next window) what is important is we get behind the team support the men behind the working progress. The one player in all rumours am sorry we haven't succeeded in getting is benzema, I think he would have been a successful & great signing for us wwNWA. We will never walk alone.

Great initial reply from Ed 002 and very moot
Surely no matter how you look at it you are a better side than last year, the cost that FSG has incurred just in getting rid of the crap rafa bought has probably been huge, they spent money on I imagine who the management team wanted.
Now Enrique was a great buy the others not so, I think you will be extremely lucky if the owners can pump more money in this window. There is improvement it should continue right up until dalgleish resigns.

Pardoe

The way I see it. We have a team still gelling and developing. KK is still working on systems and how best to get them working in their best positions. This takes time but I have no doubt his signings will come good. We're almost into the final of one cup, I'd fancy our chances of beating man u at anfield so given city are out we'd also been in with a good shot of the FA Cup. We're still very much in the mix for fourth. Look back 12 months ago- are we really doing that badly!??

Rob s

Rob S,
Enough of this developing rubbish everyone would think we were a million miles away. We're not. The way things stand Kenny has bought badly. They've all had enough time to gel and we've looked good on occasion but overall the players brought in (Enrique, Bells aside) aren't the answer. You refer to 12 months prior, of course its better that was one of our worst seasons in recent memory thanks to the Hodgson reign. The cup runs are all well and good but every fan would trade that for 4th. I think 4th is beyond us now I mean Newcastle who are currently winning will go ahead of us putting us down to 7th. So this insistence we should trust the hierarchy is nonsense the fans know what theyre talking about and the consensus is better players need bringing in. RANT OVER :-)

The scouts and Comolli need to earn their wages and find us a couple of gems. We have enough home based players, time for skill and talent in the team.

Im a browser and not a contributor, and im afraid now a southern exiled armchair supported. Im my younger days was season ticket holder in the late 80,s annd 90,s. Frankly the fickle attitude of some of the idiots on here astound me,,,i remember Molby s first season,,,he was awful,,,Alonso was as a slow burner, Lucas,,how you all slagged him.Judge in 3 years unless you want to see a Leeds..but what do i know,,

You should stick to your armchair. Alonso in no way was a slow starter for Lfc, still remember his debut and he stroked the ball round beautifully. Lucas was poor in the beginning but he had the luxury of having better players like Mascherano and Alonso in front of him. The likes of Downing, Carroll etc are supposed to be the benchmarks for gradual and further success and they're poor. I've had enough of people referring to things of how they were in their day.

Re back to your Arm chair comment ..cheap shot , of it was,nt for arm chair sky subscribers we would nt behaving these discussions. I spent my time getting pissed on the old kop think I'm entitled to my comments. Re Alonso, meant he was,nt instantly the world class star he became. It takes time sometimes..It just seems harsh and premature to question the owners and Jenny, although Saturday was a strange team .

Bale was a commoli signing and look at his first season compared to now for Spurs. The lads need supporting - I'm hugely impressed with Enrique, Kelly, Flanagan, the Agger-Skrtel partnership, Bellamy, Spearing, Adam (will get better), Suarez. Henderson is learning, Downing finding his feet and gives balance in defence and attack - just needs to makE a bigger Impact on the game. Carroll needs consistent service from both flanks, goals and to build the system a bit more around him or tell him what's fully expected of him.

Sorry Kenny!!!Think I wil stick to just browsing !!!!

According to some Sunday papers, Man U are going to offer CSKA Berbatov + 4Mil for Keisuke Honda.
Surely we could afford a similar deal ie: Kuyt + 4Mil?

Getting into the Champions league will give the the club an estimated revenue of 35+ million.
Spend 35+ million now on get some creative players!

The way i see it is, spend now on players so that we can get Champions League football then the players are free, or spend money in the summer and they cost us.

I hope that makes some sort of sense.

JamieMK

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps Kuyt does not want to move to Moscow. Your view on the finances of football is a long way wide of the mark - but another fan who somehow sees players as free is somehow not a surprise.}

Lol not free, as in they don't cost anything.
What i was trying to say if we secure Champs League football, we are 35 mill+
if we don't we are 35 mill -

That sort of idea got Leeds to where they are today. We need to be a work in progress I'm afraid. We weren't good enough yesterday but on the whole bad luck and great saves have stopped us being closer to the top. Patience is the key.

So spend 35 million now and then what happens if the club does not make it? Anyone remember Leeds united?

As much as I hate to say it, Berbatov is twice the player Kuyt is these days. Kuyt done a great job for us over the years, but his legs have gone. His tenacity and work rate are what his game is all about.

hi could you explain who makes transfer decisions kenny or comoli thanks {Ed002's Note - Such decisions are never made by one individual but, aside from money which the management team need to get the board to approve, scouting is down to Comolli and Dalglish has the final say - but it will be a collaboratorive process.}

Thanks does kenny give comoli a list or does comoli report back with suggestions have read in papers about kenny liking 1 player comoli prefering another {Ed002's Note - I have no access to the little notes that Dalglish passes to Comolli.}

Both, mainly Comolli reports back

Eds,

Reading today that we are interested in Llorente. I know he would cost at least 20mil but what would be the possibility of him coming in?

Matt {Ed002's Note - I expect Llorente will stay with Bilbao.}

The sunday people seem to think he's on his way to Liverpool {Ed002's Note - Exciting days ahead then.}

You read this off Facebook, or (People) right? it's never going ot happen, sorry.

BBC news are reporting that Liverpool have turned down a swap deal involving andy carrol and darren bent. Come on Liverpool Bent is way better than Carrol.

I posted about this deal a couple of weeks ago and got slated for it. Its been ongoing behind the scenes but its proving a difficult deal to pull off...

Peter

Stick with a 22 year old not a 27 year old who will be worth nothing in 3 years, at least if we keep carroll and when he does come good he has resale value.

support or go

sweetcorn

Why would Villa want to swap a 15+ goal a season striker for one that couldn't hit a cows ass with a banjo ? Get real
Andy Carroll will be staying at liverpool andeven if they do sell him, who in their right minds would pay 20 Million ? Not going to happen unless he's part of a swap + cash deal and they don't happen much
Liverpool will bring in at least 2 players and one of those will be a striker
They are looking at no less than 5 different options at the moment, but because it's January, no one is willing to let a decent player go for peanuts, so it will take time to get the right man for the right fee
The other player is believed to be a RM and again, they have several names in mind
People keep asking about Hazard and the ED's don't think that will happen, but just wait and see what happens and who arrives

What actually bothers me is that a story this crap and false makes it into the papers these days...and what is worse the BBC print it (albeit as newspaper rumour and gossip) without regard for anything. Time to stop the TV License as they lost all independence about 20 years ago! Thanks for allowing the rant, lol. Izain {Ed002's Note - The BBC simply list stories from the newspapers and other media sources, if you find it so upsetting why not just stop looking at it.}

As much as its plain to see that Carroll and Liverpool DO NOT FIT, unfortunately he is going nowhere. I tire of hearing that Carroll will come good. He won't in my opinion. A comment was made about Bents age. 27. He will score more goals in his next 3 years than Carroll. Fact. If we had Bent for that time, surely another striker would be brought in during?
I understand the need to support, but at times its blind will. The lad can't run. His touch is awful, and for a big guy doesn't muscle defenders. People saw. He is talented. I don't see it. The very same as Heskey, and we couldn't wait to sell him. And he did score goals at first!
Managers make mistakes. Look at Fergie. But at least he has the guts to get rid for the sake of his club.
Carroll will stay. But for the sake of our club, we need to buy a goal scorer. Or it will cost Kenny his reputation with some. And his job.
YNWA

Sadly the people who read it do not seem to realise this. It is sad how easily people are misled

Id take that all day long,ok carroll may have resell value in a few years, if and when he comes good,but we want success and goals NOW,dont let us become another arsenal,relying on kids to try and win us things,coz it just dont happen !!

Carroll couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.

It's rumours that make the transfer windows exciting...Could you imagine having no rumours about players coming ang going ? how boring would that be!

Oh while i'm here; Messi will be holding talks with Liverpool in the coming week :)

"Ed002's Note - The BBC simply list stories from the newspapers and other media sources, if you find it so upsetting why not just stop looking at it." ...Granted (as I said originally) but (like many adults resident in the UK) I am a statutory financial contributor to the BBC through the license fee so I exercise my right to comment on their publishing policy. Izain ;) {Ed002's Note - Fine, but don't bring it here.}

dear edmonton how close are liverpool to signing zaha out of 10, 10 being hes signed {Ed002's Note - I really don't know that Liverpool are interested in signing the player at all.}

Suggestion is that we're watching him but think his end product isn't much

15 Jan 2012 07:41:22
ed is it true that king kenny has come out and said no one will be signed this window {Ed002's Note - I don't think so, but he may have said he is happy with the squad.}

Well ken Dodd is an person if he is ! He is showing his naiveity when making team selections he leaves best players on bench and plays the same crap players who ought be dropped. Well pissed off having my doubts in him
S Bradford

I must have missed something but what has Doddy got to do with anything?

One inside source informed me that Liverpool is buying back old boy Sebastian Leto from Greek side Panathinaikos. Leto is on fire this season scoring 15 from 18 matches. This will help us add some pace and flare from left side and to replace lackluster Stuart Downing. What do you think, EDs? {Ed002's Note - I would have thought there is little to no chance of this happening after his previous work permit problems.}

Would work permit issues still apply?

If you live in the UK for 5 years you can apply for a UK passport, in Spain I believe it's 2 years to get a Spanish Passport. How long do you have to reside in Greece to get a greek passport?
If he qualifys for a greek P/P he wouldn't need a workpermit.
Not saying this is going to happen, just not sure a work permit is the reason why. {Ed002's Note - I am not saying that is the reason why either - but there seems to be a thought that all players want a European passport and that is simply not true. In the case of Leto you should recall the reasons he left Liverpool before and an Italian passport that was later taken off him.}

Hello ed02! the problem was 3 years ago when he had no experience in Europe. Since then he moved to Greece (which is part of EU) and now can fulfill the criteria for work permit. Pretty sure DC has done his homework. Just wait and see. {Ed002's Note - How does he now fulfill the criteria for a work permit?}

You are all over looking the fact he was crap and that is a reason he left if he was good enough for liverpool he wouldnt be playin for panathinaikos now

Hi eds, what do you make of the zaha situation is he coming in this window or in the summer? {Ed001's Note - I am sick of repeating myself on this, I was told that numerous scouts have looked at him from the Prem, all reported the same thing, lack of end product. It is likely to be a lower end Prem team that is willing to take a chance on him that will get him.}

Well if its a lower end team that he's going to expect him at Anfield anytime in January then. Our lack of quality, creativity and 'criminal' conversion rate must make him a certainty. And 5 across the back against Stoke....with respect ... is a joke. discuss

Poster above your the joke mate your obviously pretending to be a liverpool fan or your just a really bad supporter seriously we drew not got beat 5 nil u need to give your head a shake
