Can easily see Klopp changing to a 4231 next season. I personally think he would have started this season with it if he had signed Keita, with Coutinho as the 10. If our reported transfer targets are correct someone like Fekir would be perfect for that no10 as he can overlap into the spaces Firmino creates, a then for games we need to rotate and rest the forwards we can shift to the 433 where Fekir can slot in seemlessly to bobbys position. And for games Fekir is unavailable we can once again shift to the 433 that has worked so well this season.

I think our formation works great for big games but still need the option for a striker in my eyes. They created so much today and I do like solanke. With someone like fekir we can rest Salah/ mane or firmino against smaller teams and still have a strong attacking three or maybe four if needed, which I think is key.

That is actually a pretty good shout.

Expect we’ll see more of the 4-2-3-1 when keita joins, and particularly against defensive setups that look to pack their box and limit the space for our attack.

Having Firmino run the show at no.10 was very effective today, and having a striker ahead of him meant Mane and Salah could stay wide and stretch the defence. Having 4 goal scorers on the pitch was more important against Brighton than having 3 midfielders but that won’t be the same against every team.

Expect the 4-3-3 against RM where possession will be more even and our front three will have more space to exploit.

We seem too do better when teams have more possession against us, Madrid will definitely have more of ball for us too exploit an counter on them hope this is the case.

Agreed that the 4-2-3-1 worked well against Brighton. But don't agree that we should use it all season long simply because it is too offensive and exposes our defense way too much. Our fullbacks actually play like wingbacks, so that leaves only the centerbacks and the two midfielders to hold back. We're at our best with the 4-3-3, but I wouldn't be against the 4-2-3-1 for the last 15-20 minutes of a game, against a team that came with a fleet of parked buses.

Salah plays up the shoulder of center half and full back so we never played 1 up top if anything

4213 is more suited.

We have Keita coming and are linked with another cm. We are losing can. We have been saying for seasons we lack that bite in midfield and maybe Keita adds that, but something noticeable for me, against city and against Roma in the first legs, hendo, Milner, gini or Ox won 80% of lose balls, headers and 50/50s which WA Skye to our quick turnovers and counters for me.

I hope we don't lose that, and if we do sign another cm, I obviously hope they are a good footballer first, and suits our style, but can't help but think that physical edge would be great.
I know we have been loosely linked with Jorginho, but I don't believe he really offers that.
Are we linked with any who do?

Do you honestly believe that Klopp would sign a midfielder who wasn't a good footballer or didn't suit our style?
Or couldn't stand up to the hurly burly of the Premiership?

He DID sign Steven Caulker on loan at one point. lol.

I propose a ban on the mentioning of Caulker on this site, Klopp has had an excellent record in the transfer window for us but every time someone mentions it, someone says caulker.

Reynard, he signed him based on the opinion of someone within the club. He decided to trust this persons view and then learnt from it. That is entirely different to his view when signing a player.

Hey eds and reds

What is the future of Brewster at the club I'm hearing he's going but the club are doing all they can to keep him . What do the eds see happening in this scenario

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in him from German clubs - this is not new. This has been discussed before, the search engine may help.}

Cheers ed 2

I know he is a massive talent but how far away is he from 1st team competitive football

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - In England on a regular basis - a couple of years or so I would think.}

Ed is it true about Mondelbach allegedly tapping up Brewster?

Taste of our own medicine if true lol but sucks either way.

However if we aren't ready to play him, then I can see why his head has turned.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I don't know if they have made a direct approach to the player. The original interest was from Dortmund, and RBL have also been looking at him.}

13 May 2018 20:44:33
Nice to hear off ya Ed- have you seen much of Brewster? If so do you rate him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no way to "rate" players I am afraid.}

Dortmund’s success with Sancho shows it can work!

Whilst I think he should stay, I think he would do well in Germany.

2 year loan with a return clause would be good for all.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - he is only on a youth contract, he doesn't have 2 years on it.}
