Rodgers has informed the owners that he wants Christian Eriksen to be the priority signing in the summer transfer window. Also expect Ince, Diakité on a free and there's possibility of a decent loan signing. Any other deals will be on a sell-to-buy basis. I have no information on the goalkeeper front. Many thanks.

Eriksen is believed to be going to spurs!

14 Feb 2013 07:08:36
what rubbish. so what will you do with allen and countinho?

14 Feb 2013 07:33:00
Apart from Eriksen (AGAIN!) the rest of it sounds realistic. {Ed002's Note - Diakite won't be moving to Liverpool either.}

14 Feb 2013 10:00:58
Ed 002 where do you think diakite will end up then? Thanks. Gaz {Ed002's Note - He will move to Napoli.}

14 Feb 2013 10:22:50
Oh that's just great that is! Here we go again Ashley (bleeping) williams talk going to start I fear.

Eriksen brilliant. Dalglish and Carragher priority not Rodgers!

13 Feb 2013 21:22:48
Christian eriksen and ander herrera the men the manager wants to inject some creativity into our midfield. Diakite will arrive on a free. all other deals are subject to players leaving first.

13 Feb 2013 21:09:11
Assaidi will go to ajax in the summer as part
Of the deal that will bring christian eriksen to
Anfield.

I pray you're right

Of course he will because their abilities are so alike get real will you.

Paris Saint Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti reportedly turned down offers to manage Liverpool and Manchester City last November, with French press making the explosive claims that the Italian was wanted by three Premier League clubs towards the end of last year.

well finally we accpet BR is a mistake? LVG was the right choice.

r-r

What a pile of nonsense!

Can you not just see how far we have come as a team this year and get behind the manager instead of moaning!

MR EM

13 Feb 2013 21:00:01
Nice. That's answered my questions. Cheers.

And I believe what I read too. Elvis DOES work in ASDA.
Give BR a chance. We're heading in the right direction, he's not even had a season yet. If after at least a year in the job there's clearly no improvement in our position/style of play/quality of players brought in (I'm not saying there hasn't been some imporovement in some areas) then maybe he was a mistake, but give the fella a chance. I'm just glad we're not all fairweather fans like you. YNWA

Rodgers is a nice enough guy but we need somebody better.

So three months into his tenure we decided that Rodgers wasn't good enough? What a joke from you

Van gaal is going on 62 yers old is he the man to be here for the long term and grow into his role? Is he even hungry anymore? No

If it was between martinez and rodgers we have the right man

Realistically who else is there? Laudrup has a rodgers team and added michu who was scouted during rodgers reign.

Rafa isn't doing too great at chelsea, hodgson was experienced and flopped, kd is a great and didn't do too good let's face it

So just quit moaning because no doubt even if we was sitting in 4th place right now people like you would moan about something else

This is embarrassing give him a season at least! We've come on leaps and bounds this year, just lack consistency.

I'm sorry but I don't agree that we have to back our manager mindlessly. Yes we should support our club, but if something is inherently wrong it doesn't mean we should follow it.
Talent is easy to spot in a player and a manager. If I saw talent in BR I would back him. However he is defensively weak in tactics (previously top defenders now look exposed and rubbish), and has shown poor judgement in the transfer market.
The team does not play 'champagne football'. I personally thought the team last year was more exciting, only problem was that we kept hitting the post.
We are spending millions on players and their salaries. I hope FSG go and spend some of that money and recruit a top proven European manager.
G

Give br a chace and will finish top 10

So they looked to replace him in November then let him spend 20 Million in January seems likely

I saw the leaps and bounds we have come on monday epic fail that is.

The club has been mis-managed both on and off the field for the better part of a decade (with the exception of about 18 months when Rafa was here and the euphoria took over).

There are too many people living in the past and the belief that we are the best team in the world. We aren't but we are shaping up better to regain our spot than we have done for a considerable time. This assumption that the solution is somehow simple is personic - if it was we would have done it.

Ancelotti may have been approached - he may not, he may have been good for the club, he may not -it's all irrelevant. It didn't happen and we have to deal with the world we live in rather than some imaginery one in which we are still the best.

There are sgns that we are gong in the right drecton both on and off the feld. There appears to be the begnnings of a methodology off the feld - supportng the nurturng of young talent and a cohesive transafer policy, for instance. On the field we have shown a good number of glimpses that we are capable of actually playing good football. We will suffer from time to time because there is (for example) a disproportionate dependence upon (largely untried) youth.

We are still light on in some areas - we lack a dominant defensve midfielder and centre half and we lack a natural leader. Steve is too undemonstrative as a person ever to be a natural leader of men (oh for someone like Sami H again) and the solution isn't going to be something that we can come up with over night.

In footballing terms, our Plan A is taking shape, but still has a way to go Plan be - musclke up and get in oppositions faces when the need arises is a long way away yet - which is not entirely unexpected given the relative youth of the squad. But for the love of God can we stop it with the lazy, mindless 'we missed out on' anybody and everybody whenever there is some trash in the press?

Don't forget Ferguson took 7 years or more to actually win anything and things haven't turned out too badly for him have they?

As was said recently. 'If you can't support us when we lose or draw, don't support us when we win'.

Haha I find G's post quite funny. its the same tripe being spouted off on certain forums by some that are still hung up on kenny getting the sack.
its embarisinig.
we all love kenny but he has gone, get over it and stop trying to spread your gospel of doom.
Get a grip.

I think should see how we fair in europa and end up in the leauge, we have played some great football at times but the money he spend on over rated players like allen and borini is poor, need experience mixed in with young and he don't see that which is frustrating, I must admit didn't want him here but like his method on how to play football, but he has no plan be and not enough experience to get what we ne CL football to start and to be cemented back into the top 4

Ed002 have you got any idea yet if the ancelotti story in le parisien was true? {Ed002's Note - I understand that an approach was made to via a third party and not PSG to enquire of his availability.}

I don't see how you can blame BR, we had enough chances to win 2 games on Monday. He made the subs as most people would have seen them.

Agger, seem to get absolved of all blame, but a lot of goals we conceded are from set pieces where he has lost his man

You accept it by believing what you read in the press, seems a strange one to me, you say Ancelotti turned us down and that Van Gaal was the first choice? {Ed002's Note - It is not quite like that. van Gaal was approached in the early summer before Rodgers arrived about taking the Director of Football role but wanted to structure the first team, reserves and academy management as reporting in to him and, critically, was insisting on being given the budget and a completely free-hand in recruiting all of the staff afresh himself. I understand that it was immediately agreed that the board and owners would never agree to such a deal.}

Dalglish was one of the worst managers we've had over the last 30yrs, both times. Paisley or Fagan wouldn't of getting beat by Wimbledon in '88 or lost the league to Arsenal in '89! So called King Kenny did. He was a great player but poor manager

Ed002 so does that mean that we are did enquire? sorry I am abit confused by the third party stuff {Ed002's Note - Yes, but not directly.}

Ed002 do you think this means that rodgers is likely off at the end of the season? {Ed002's Note - I would not read that in to it necessarily. I would perhaps have a little concern about what commitment was given to the board in order to convince them to fund the Coutinho purchase if the truth be told.}

Ed002 how do you mean, what sort of commitment with the coutinho deal? surely if we are enquiring about other managers then they must be considering sacking rodgers {Ed002's Note - The enquiry dates back a few months ago. Obviously nothing happened and results have improved and, yet again money was spent in January. Whilst we knew money was available to be commited on Ince and Liverpool were looking at loan possibilities, the cost of Coutinho was considerably more and I suspect may well have included a commitment from the manager that this would help guarantee fourth place - which was the target when he arrived, the target he committed to and it no doubt remains the target today.}

Anyone trying to use Taggart as some sort of example as to why we should 'believe' in Rodgers, just look at Taggart's record before going to the Mancs.

He actually had a track record of success on which belief could be based. Can the same be said of Rodgers?

We're shipping goals for fun and have been all season. 14 times in 26 games we've conceded 2 or more in a game.

Hope is blind, but faith and belief need to be built on something.

Rodgers is a mistake? fans needs to be patient. jeez it takes 5+ years to build a consistent team. look at united, arsenal, chelsea and even spurs and city. city didn't immediately start winning titles.

give br time because he will bring back glory days to liverpool.

Hi Eds, should we lose any of our defenders this summer Micah Richards is a player I would like to see LFC go after, has there been any interest from LFC? cheers ant {Ed001's Note - yes, we have tried to sign him before now.}

13 Feb 2013 20:00:30
He'll do.

Waste of money, thought he'd retired,

I suggested this yday, I think he is a very good player and would jump at the opportunity to join us as he is not a regular, he can play various positions, is strong, good going forward but can also defend. If we could get him for around £12m then it will be good business as he would replace Carra/Skrtel at CB alongside Agger.

BigD

I think I remember one of the ed's saying a 20 million bid got rejected while kenny was in charge.

13 Feb 2013 16:46:03
hi eds
any chance of shaw from southampton?
also heard that Liverpool will announce something soon in regards to stadium devleopments, any idea? {Ed002's Note - There has been no interest shown by Liverpool in Shaw. I suspect the next thing about the stadium will be the outline plans going in.}

13 Feb 2013 17:38:04
I thought Arsenal were intersted him until they bought Montreal. So i'm keeping optimistic on this occasion. {Ed002's Note - There is interest from elsewhere and none from Liverpool. He will likely sign a new deal when he is 18. Don't hold your breath.}

13 Feb 2013 17:47:02
Shaw is Chelsea-bound. I see a deal in the summer to possibly remain on loan till Cole leaves. {Ed002's Note - Chelsea has an interest but I suspect nothing wioll happen for a while.}

13 Feb 2013 17:59:21
And just like that ed 002 crashes my optimism like a lead balloon :-D

No, there is no chance of Shaw from Southampton. He will continue to play at Saints with Ramirez and Forren-and perhaops Suarez next season!
But, don't worry-you will still have Coutinho-LOL.

13 Feb 2013 15:45:35
Eds,

Milan Baros has today been released by Gala, how about signing him up until the summer? He still knows where the net is and see how he goes until the summer! Not a bad backup incase Sturridge or Suarez ain't fit (I assume Baros can't play in the EL either like sturridge?) {Ed002's Note - He cannot sign for an English side as the transfer window is closed.}

Ed I was under the impression that anyone out of contract can still sign. Am I wrong? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - No. Anyone out of contract in the previous transfer window can still sign, but unless a player is out of contract due to a breach by the club then they cannot. He can still go to other clubs where the transfer window is still open. Gala are now planning ahead and moving a couple of players on whilst they are also looking to the summer when they expect to lose Inan - although have a target in Spain as a replacement. Baros may not be the last out of the door.}

Its not a transfer! as he's not in contract! PL clubs can sign anyone on a free! (reference scholes to united outside of the window) {Ed002's Note - No, it doesn't work like that.}

You learn something new every day! Thanks Ed! {Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Emergency loan? {Ed002's Note - No.}

13 Feb 2013 17:13:21
Damn shame that could've done with him for 6 months and see how we went. Wherever he goes i'm sure the team will prosper.

Am I missing something here. BAROS!?!?!?!?

He can as he's a free agent {Ed001's Note - no he can't, he had to be released before the end of the window in order to sign for an English side before the next transfer window.}

This is the same Milan Baros that was poor during his first stint at the club. One that ended seven years ago. ? Good to see we are looking forward

ProfG

He was crap back then and will be no better now.
NickS

Baros is nowadays ten time worse player than he was when he left the club seven years ago. he really doesn't know where the back of the net is. usually, he doesn't even know where the ball is:) even here in czech republic, most of people cannot hear his name. The rumour is he will end up in Banik Ostrava (the club where he started his carreer. )

czech red

Ed's are wrong here.
Baros can sign as he is a free agent.
Still wouldn't want to sign him though! {Ed002's Note - No he can't. You don't understand the rules.}

No way he near knocked xabi out with a closeline after he scored against ac milan in that great match would cause too many injuries to his own players. Tommy Irish Red

13 Feb 2013 14:12:44
Any interest in Bas Dost eds? Is there a possibility he might move in the summer? {Ed002's Note - He won't be moving.}

He won't be moving? The selfish Bas Dost. RED LENIN

Do you seriously think that Bas Dost would fit into David brent Rodgers footballing philosophy as I don't

People were saying Sturridge is selfish but now no one is saying it. Dost is young, knows where the net is and is tall which would be useful with the millions of crosses we put in.

Hi all, I have carried out work at Melwood for the last three years and occassionally pick up some interesting gossip and rumours. The latest is that West Ham have informed Liverpool that they are "unlikely" to take up the option of buying Andy Carroll at the end of the season. I am also told that Carroll would prefer to return to Liverpool to fight for his place but if he is not wanted by LFC then to go back to Newcastle. My contact said that Liverpool will almost certainly bring him back to Anfield and ship him out on loan if a deal of £15m+ cannot be brokered with NUFC. Contact has already been made between LFC and Swansea for a loan deal for Carroll next season! Interestingly all this is being driven by Werner (fsg) and not Rodgers.

I think Carroll will be sold to Newcastle for £15m - £18m plus add ons and future sell on clause etc.

BigD

The work that you carry out, can you make us a couple of decent defenders!!

Anything over £10 mil we should say yes!

13 Feb 2013 10:24:00
the players that LFC are looking at this summer with a view to buy Begovic, Ter Stegen or Akinfeev for the GK position. Neil Taylor at LB. We will go back for Ince and we have been constantly scouting Erikson for the midfield rolls. Viktor Fischer has also been looked at for the forward position. We will also need a commanding CD but I have heard no names mentioned for this position.
Murton Red

13 Feb 2013 11:30:05
Don't hold your breathe geezer.

Ter Stegan as our new No. 1

Neil Taylor signed a new deal, so unless we pay over the odds like we did for Allen then it won't happen, we already have Robinson, Enrique but if we do go for a new left back then why not go for Criscito of Zenit in a swap deal for Skrtel.

Erikson & Fischer won't be moving to Liverpool.

BigD

Have to admit there very realistic targets. YNWA

Can this website be renamed 'Blatant Liverpool Lies'? It seems that's all the majority of the people post. I feel for the Eds having to deal with this

Your right gets annoying can't imagine what the eds have to read! Would reck my head. I think that the WBA game was a real opportunity to stay in with a chance at grasping with keeping up with top 4/6 but we blown it away as usual it's like the club is cursed! I think realistically it will be hard to to attract these type of players considering that they will be drawn in by the other competitors with goals that they are actually achieving as much as I would really love these players at the pool!. I love Liverpool and always will but there is a time were you need to stop being blind and face up that we will not be back to we're we were for a long time and that unless the maturity and knowlage and all the good things that makes a quality player over time comes quicker than expected and the bonding of the team that the Liverpool management are trying to create, and the stability that has been rocked the club by greedy *******ooos, then I think the club will take time to mature again, which really hurts me! Keep the good work up lads (eds)
Noel

Good old Noel has taken the words right out my head. Nice 1 geezer.
