Liverpool are flying at the minute but big changes are still planned for this summer. Liverpool will be hoping to recover at least £23m of the £32.5m they slent last summer on Christian Benteke, others will also be leaving with Joe Allen, Martin Skrtel, Adam Bogdan, Mario Balotelli, Jose Enrique, Tiago Ilori, J. Texiera and Luis Alberto all look certain to leave while Alberto Moreno and Lazar Markovic will be playing for there future. Liverpool are planning big summer moves for Leroy Sane and Granit Xhaka while they are considering a number of big targets to provide competition for Simom Mignolet, Ter-Stegen, Butland, Horn and Leno are all on the short list. Jonas Hector and Ben Chilwell have both been scouted for the left back position . Chilwell has interest from a number of clubs but Liverpool are confident of a deal, the 18 year old is out of contract with Leicester this summer. Jonas Hector will only join in Alberto Moreno is sold. Joel Matip and Marko Grujic have already signed and next year hopefully we will see Klopps stamp on the squad.

Few typos, two certain transfers this summer are Berahino to Spurs and Gundongan to Manchester City.

I expect a box-to-box MF and a winger to be brought, but it won't be Sane or Xhaka.

I don't think either Sane or Xhaka will end up here. Sane is going to be far too expensive for what he offers and I'm not sure Xhaka has the attitude to excel under Klopp. Plus, Xhaka has also said he prefers to play for City, over other EPL teams. Klopp seems to always have had the attitude if you prefer elsewhere or "CL is required", then go somewhere else. If you don't want to come here and be a part of a team that achieves such things-- CL and more-- go play somewhere else.

Agree3 Disagree18

12 Mar 2016 18:25:20
Granit Xhaka. yes please!

Agree5 Disagree20

12 Mar 2016 19:25:00
If gundongan is off to city I wouldn't imagine that xhaka will be as well.

Long way off summer but hopefully only one or two quality signings.

Whilst I don't disagree with the list of players who look likely to leave, the rest of the post I won't take too much notice of until it happens. The one thing that puzzles me though is where you get this figure of £23m for benteke. where have you got this figure from?

Agree2 Disagree15

13 Mar 2016 01:52:46
Piotr Zielinski perhaps a more viable option than Granit Xhaka, and I can't see Leroy Sane at Liverpool with all the sides interested in him. Ter Stegen likewise will likely be too expensive, and perhaps Horn or Karius are likelier to push Mignolet.

I agree with the outs, plus Balotelli.

Agree2 Disagree13

13 Mar 2016 06:29:30
Sane will be at Barcelona or Real, and Xhaka is off to Man City. I really do not see the need for another CM with Grujic coming in, and Chirivella and Stewart also pushing for squad places. Horn or karius would be better options since they are as good as and will cost half of Ter Stegen who is probably City bound too. I would be happy with Hector at LB, defensively solid and reliable.

Agree3 Disagree12

13 Mar 2016 11:14:28
Zielinski isn't at all the same type of midfielder as Xhaka, Xhaka is the sort who is good on the ball and fierce in the tackle, the kind we haven't had since McMahon. Rather we went for Xhaka all day long.

Agree2 Disagree9

13 Mar 2016 13:19:32
Seriously with xhaka in, how many DM we already have? Lucas, hendo, milner, gruljic, chivirella, xhaka.

Agree0 Disagree8

{Ed001's Note - Milner?? On what planet is he a DM?}

13 Mar 2016 13:30:41
Zei links is an AM who can play wide with pace, power and skill as well as goals which is exactly what we need. Chaka is a very good player but no need for him if som mids don't leave.

Agree1 Disagree9

13 Mar 2016 14:21:37
Helloo ed001 he was playing at cm before klopp came in and switch him to flanks. He is definitely not am.

Agree0 Disagree8

{Ed001's Note - playing in central midfield does not make him a defensive midfielder and Milner is not in any way a defensive midfielder.}

13 Mar 2016 14:52:14
Milner hasn't the nous to play centre midfield. End of.

For us to be successful we need a solid spine, Xhaka would help in that respect as he's mobile, quick, aggressive, good tackler, good reader of the game and has a good range of passing.

My problem with Zeilinski is that he's a number 10 type. Which we have loads of already.

Agree3 Disagree6

13 Mar 2016 20:21:23
At the moment Lucas is our only recognized CDM. Milner is a winger and is poor when played centrally, Hendo is box to box, Grujic is predominantly a CM and Chiravella isn't ready yet but may be eased into the role in cup games. If we have serious top four ambitions then Lucas isn't good enough on a regular basis to be the main man. Can is also a CM. Xhaka is a huge step up on Lucas in my opinion and adds something we have so evidently lacked, a bit of steel and bite.

Agree0 Disagree3

13 Mar 2016 08:14:58
We defo need a top class CM. but very unlikely it would be Xhaka. I am skeptical on £23 mill coming in for Benteke.

Agree0 Disagree2

14 Mar 2016 08:11:12
Lucas isn't our only DM, Stewart is one as well.

12 Mar 2016 10:26:25
Anyone sniffing around Firmino? I do think he is our best player and will be one of the best in Europe and the World. Has it all. Great feet, smart head, loads of energy, loves playing. Would remind you of someone but for the fact he doesn't get his teeth into the opposition.

Believable5 Unbelievable16

{Ed002's Note - Not at this time. Obviously he has improved recently but admirers he had in Germany last year when he played consistently well were not interested at the €25M they could have purchased him for (before Liverpool paid €41M rising to €50M). Interest from Manchester City went due to his cost. Inter didn't have the money to get close to buying him, and none of the other interested parties (Atletico Madrid, Shakhtar Everton and Dynamo Kiev) dropped their interest - again probably due to the money.}

12 Mar 2016 10:57:45
Well I bet those clubs will be kicking themselves now especially as if he was on the market today it would be around the 60 million mark. Shrewd investment.

Agree15 Disagree17

12 Mar 2016 10:51:12
Silly question Ed - why couldn't we get him for €25m?

Agree0 Disagree16

{Ed002's Note - That was his release clause and interested clubs in Germany (Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg) had no interest in him at €25M.}

12 Mar 2016 11:01:57
I wouldn't got that far.

Agree4 Disagree16

12 Mar 2016 11:41:19
Deluded Acered!

Agree6 Disagree21

12 Mar 2016 13:06:44
Great players cost great money. If all the German clubs passed on Firmino for 25m€, then there is a lot of clueless clubs there. He has been consistenly good for several seasons there. Some time after he was ready for liverpool i was talking to a player he played with in hoffenheim, he said Firmino was the best player he had seen, teqnically very good and the most hardworking guy in there team. Every training session he said he was doing incredible stuff and always working he's sucks off, he said no doubt he will be one of the best players in England if he can settle in there.

Agree11 Disagree11

12 Mar 2016 14:02:09
He is a very good player and chuffed to bits for having him BUT we still overpaid for him and that is still a fact.

Agree7 Disagree20

{Ed001's Note - I have never seen it that way, we paid what it takes and he has been worth every penny so far.}

12 Mar 2016 14:06:17
Irish rover why is that deluded David Luis left Chelsea for 50 mill! ?

Agree8 Disagree12

12 Mar 2016 14:27:44
If he delivers the goods productively then how the hell can you say he's overpriced?

Agree10 Disagree12

12 Mar 2016 14:59:24
At the end of the day a player is only worth what someone else is willing to pay.

Even if we did over pay at least the club went out and got the player they wanted. Also I'm not arsed because it isn't my money there spending.

Agree5 Disagree12

12 Mar 2016 12:42:17
€50m is nearly £39m. Actual transfer fee was £21m potentially rising to £29m.

Agree1 Disagree14

{Ed002's Note - No. The fee was €41M potentially raising to €50M.}

12 Mar 2016 13:22:16
Cheers ED002. Good news.

Agree1 Disagree12

12 Mar 2016 16:23:44
He's delivered the goods and gets better each game. A match winner and genuinely gifted. Certainly looks a better signing that Depuy.

Agree10 Disagree11

12 Mar 2016 16:30:44
So we paid £32 million for Firminho initially. Same price as Benteke. Let the words do the talking.

12 Mar 2016 18:18:08
I love how things have changed on this forum.

Only a month or two ago, I remember myself, and others (including Ed1) constantly defending Firmino from people slating him on here, day in and day out.

Now we're worried someone is going to snap him up for 60m.

I suppose that just comes with the territory, when you're not only in-form, but you're one of the best and most prolific attackers in the entire EPL-- which Firmino is right now. Decidedly so.

I remember quite well people slating him, and insisting Benteke should be starting over him. Thank God for Klopp.

Agree9 Disagree8

12 Mar 2016 19:16:59
Would that fee not make him our most expensive ever (potentially)? I'd have thought the board would be singing it from the rooftops if so.

Agree2 Disagree12

12 Mar 2016 19:46:12
He is worth EVERY euro spent! Acered is not deluded at all, he has been a fantastic signing and has shown serious quality. With a 1 more intelligent player around him the team will be so much better, he has shown his quality alongside Couthino and even Lallana has been linking up well lately. We got him for a price that they wanted from us for the sale. Same way Liverpool wanted £50m for Torres and £49m for Sterling. Firmino is a quality player and will only get better.

Agree7 Disagree9

12 Mar 2016 23:34:09
for me firmino has always had this in him, he just needed to get uswd to the prem and how fast and physical its been for him he's our top scorer at the time of this post so that's saying something about how good he really is also for me he still has not got a 100% used to the prem, next season he will be some player for us and that's when all the clubs will come sniffing around for him, let's hope he likes liverpool fc andthe city and klopp being his manager because i don't want to lose him, and what we paid for him he will repay that back with his goals for us in the coming seasons, it might even be seen as a cheap buy if he continues to get better and keeps scoring, as I've said before in many of my posts i can't wait for the summer transfer window to see who we get in and who wants to come to us, and if we are very lucky we could get into the top 4 so champs league will be a big bonus and draw for the top players.

Agree0 Disagree9

12 Mar 2016 22:08:04
€50million is £39million
I thought AC was the most expensive player.

Agree0 Disagree11

13 Mar 2016 11:20:56
Transfermarkt has the fee as £30.75 million. Which is going rate for a talented goal scoring midfielder/ forward. End of the day he's not let his head drop, he's toughed it out and he's got on with it by working hard to adapt. He'll get in to double figures the way he's playing and that's a fantastic return for someone in their first season in a new league.

Agree2 Disagree6

{Ed002's Note - The fee was in Euro and was exactly as I have said.}

13 Mar 2016 13:22:47
Wouldnt mind if we get back suarez with 20 mil + Firmino offer to barca.

Agree0 Disagree7

13 Mar 2016 20:19:18
While the fee is obviously somewhat inflated, I agree with Ed001. We paid the price required to get him, his release clause is inconsequential. The fact is that in this season he has grown into one of our most important players, along with the most creative EPL player this year, and the fact that Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg were not interested in paying that money makes no odds to me; in a way I'm glad.

Hi eds, any intrest for stuttgart winger filip kostic from liverpool? Also what do u think of him do u think he's premier legue qualtie cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable15

{Ed001's Note - never seen him play, nor heard of any interest in him from us.}

12 Mar 2016 11:33:47
Thanx 4 the reply.
also do u think james milner could get moved on in the summer.

Agree1 Disagree12

{Ed002's Note - Stuttgart rejected an approach from Bayer Leverkusen for Filip Kostic in January who they said was not for sale. Anderlecht's Acheampong will need replacing in the summer and with the club in a financially strong position they may have started watching Kostic - a player they were interested in when his career at Groningen had turned a little sour at the start of 2014. I cannot see them being successful.

I am not aware of any plans to see Milner leave in the summer.}

12 Mar 2016 11:53:40
Thanx 4 ya info mate appreiciated.

Agree1 Disagree11

12 Mar 2016 23:55:44
Dear ed002 sorry if i missed the point of your answer but why is it that we paid significantly over his release clause to get Firmino?

Agree0 Disagree7

{Ed002's Note - The release clause can only be invoked by a side in the same country (the law under which it was written). Some clubs use it as a guideline and say they will not sell for less - but clubs from outside of the jurisdiction cannot force a sale - it needs to be agreed.}

13 Mar 2016 20:21:45
Thanks, had no idea!
