Sakho, Ince, Eriksen and Jovetic are the players the club are thinking of bringing in.

Brad

13 Feb 2013 01:14:14
We'll see.

Sakho would be a good choice as we all know that we are probably going to loose 3 defenders in Carra/Skrtel/Coates.

Ince I think will join, he himself wants the move but it all depends on price as we will not overpay.

Erikson will be hard to get and I don't see him moving to us as we already have 5 midfielders, so unless 1 departs i'd think it unlikely.

Jovetic will only arrive in my view as a direct replacement for Suarez as they are both similar in style of play, i'd rather keep Suarez.

BigD

Thinking of bringing in, Don`t you mean dreaming of bringing in! You need to lay off the sauce fella!

Much love

What makes you think that Sakho, Eriksen and Jovetic will sign for a team finishing 8th in EPL and Suarez also leaving? Dream on. that's the only thing we can do. Lol!

They can 'think' all they want. Never going to happen. Get real mate.

50% spot on but I'm afraid Sakho & Jovetic will not be signing for LFC in the summer

Suarez07

Eriksen won't be joining either! So that just leaves ince

No chance of Jovetić, we passed that opportunity up three years ago thanks to the cowboys. Only way we'd go in for him is if we sold Luis *shudders*. Sakho would be a food signing as we'll lose at least two centre halfs this summer and he can play LB too. Ince will come if the price is right, we know that. We are very interested in Eriksen but what chance do we stand as City, AC Milan and Real are also?

Surely Ince is the only realistic buy and even then we could easily be beaten to him by the likes of Swansea.

We need to find 'the next' Eriksen, Sakho, Jovetic etc, that's the only way we can attract the neccesary quality.

Go back to making our own star players, it's the only way to have a chance of competing.

We did it with the likes of Hyypia, Alonso, Arbeloa and Reina.

After falling out with coach Luciano Spalletti after being replaced during a match against A. C. Milan for the Champions League group stage, Hulk declared that he was seeking to leave Zenit in January. [20] However, as FIFA regulations barred players from playing for more than two clubs in a season, this forced him to stay in Russia at least until June 2013;[21] eventually, the conflict between player and management was solved.
SO it would be possible to make a deal (swap + money) SKRTEL-HULK? {Ed002's Note - I think the money would be well beyond Liverpool's means right now.}

13 Feb 2013 01:20:22
Yeah, how much? Skrtel and €30m. No thanks.

Skrtel's value is around £15m - £18m
Hulk's value around £25m - £30m

So we would have to give them £15m plus Skrtel for Hulk, although a very good player i'd imagine his wage demands in Russia are very high, a better idea could be that we do a straight swap deal involving Skrtel for Criscito, he plays left back and is very good.

BigD {Ed002's Note - Far more likely than all of this fantasy stuff involving Hulk is that Skrtel is sold and a replacement, De Vrij or someone similar, is purchased for about the same amount.}

Hey eds, good evening, could you tell me some CB's we have previously shown some interest in or had scouts sent out to watch play etc, for example Ismat Mirin? (spelling) cheers. {Ed002's Note - Scouts attend games all of the time and save where we have specific information about which players were of interest (e.g. Praet, South Americans etc.) to the scouts I tend to ignore such matters. Information tends to become much more freely available and useful once interest in shown - otherwise you would end up with hopelessly long lists of players which have been of nothing more than transient interest. As for Mirin, interest still remains from Newcastle and from Fulham. It has been suggested that there is some Liverpool interest in Florin Gardos - seems surprising to me.}

What about Dejan Lovren Ed?
weren't we interested in him a while back. {Ed002's Note - An interesting thought. Whilst I am not aware of specific interest at this time, Lovren could well be available at the right price in the summer.}

Any reason you are surprised Ed?
Is he not a good defender? {Ed002's Note - I am surprised because he would not want the Coates role sitting on the bench or getting an occasional game. But I understand that there is some interest in him.}

13 Feb 2013 11:35:22
I want Coates to have more of a chance. Yes he's bodged up before but who hasn't? He is still really young and a hulking beast of a bloke. I'm sure the boy will come good. {Ed002's Note - As I understand it, he wants out.}

If someone cares I have some information about the keeper from DK who is on trial in Liverpool. His name is Kevin Ray Mendoza, he plays for a team called Viborg FF, and the team is in the 1. division (second best league in DK), and Viborg is fighting for promotion. He has only played to matches for Viborg's first team, but the guy is only 18. By the way Viborg FF's first goal keeper is Martin Hansen who has played in our beloved team. We see him as a great talent in Denmark, and we are famous for great keepers.

Thanks for the info.

PDUK

How can people disagree with this, its been in LFC news that the player has had a 1 week trial with us.

I have just been told by a friend (who lives in Malaga) that Diego Simeone has been approached by FSG today.

Apparently he knows someone! He's a Manc aswell so. dunno what to make of that.

Jamie {Ed002's Note - Even as cover for Lucas he seems a little old for the club to be brining in.}

Diego Simoene is the coach of Atletico Madrid at the moment!

It is sarcasm.

Piledriver

Still better than Allen in any midfield position, even at his age. :)

Eds A Swedish site says that Eriksen denied new contract from ajax, and Man utd, Newcastle, Spurs and Liverpool are intressed, with Liverpool most likely to be his destination, any truth in this {Ed002's Note - Some. I would certainly not say Liverpool is his most likely destination. However, Liverpool, Manchester City, Roma, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Spurs, Inter and AC Milan have shown some level of interest in Eriksen in the past year or so. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan and Spurs remain the most interested clubs. I would not rule out Bayern Munich, Manchester City or other previously interested clubs regaining interest in him - although I would say that it is unlikely that Inter or Chelsea would be interested. Back in July the Milan Press Office were convinced of interest from Manchester United and they have let it be known that they expected a bid to be made by for Eriksen. Expect Milan and Roma to press if a bid is made by Manchester United and I remain in agreement with them that there is every chance of that happening. The player remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam for18 more months before moving to Spain but would likely jump at the chance of a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona if the opportunity arises. However, Ajax will not let him run down his contract so a move beckons in the summer. The player will see out the rest of the season at Ajax and see if he can attract attention from Spain.}

He is also a boyhood Tottenham fan!

Much love

Ed 02?
You are the voice of reason, I too feel the job at LFC has come too soon for Rodgers. Let me ask you this will FSG now be looking at bringing in a DOF or similar person to "help" the manager and at some level will they be considering the nuclear option of sacking their appointment?

They must be horrified that further transfer spending has yielded little return and upset that the old assistant manager is out performing the new gaffer?

Would love to know your considered opinion. {Ed002's Note - As previously explained I expect that Liverpool will be looking to bring someone in on the footballing side to help out - not necessarily a Direct of Football. FSG has made enquiries about such a person.}

Who to ed may I ask. {Ed002's Note - The person the enquiry was made of will not likely be available until after the world cup so they will need to look elsewhere.}

Can everyone stop jumping the gun here, it was one loss. If we won last night you'd all be talking about how much "progress" we are making and how good Rodgers is doing. Some perspective please.

As he has publicly spoken about Liverpool at the start of the season, I would like to put forward my guess as Louis van Gaal? He's the current Holland manager if I remember correctly and is after the world cup when his contract expires? {Ed002's Note - I wasn't thinking of Louis van Gaal because that was a rather different situation. He was approached about taking the Director of Football role but wanted to structure the first team, reserves and academy management as reporting in to him and, critically, was insisting on being given the budget and a completely free-hand in recruiting all of the staff afresh himself. I understand that it was immediately agreed that the board and owners would never agree to such a deal.}

Rafa will be available, just saying

It's not about one loss. Small brains forget Villa and Oldham! Rodgers has a serious problem. He only wants players in his own image. Small. Last night we looked like a team of Hobbits up front. He simply is not good enough. Fact.

The reply to the op is hilarious. if we won, OF COURSE we'd be praising BR and the team and OF COURSE we'd be banging on about the progress we've made. because praise would be in order. The name of the game is winning and that is how success is measured. like it or not.

The fact we didn't win (not just yesterday's game but, other 'must win' games we've had; in truth, we needed a win against Arsenal to be seriously considered for a CL spot) is a clear indication we haven't made progress.

So, shouldn't we be worried about the state of affairs at LFC and angry especially given that a good part of our predicament is not due to a lack of funding but, the poor, poor allocation of those funds?

Is it Roy Hodgson

Roy Evans and Carra should be brought in, in some sort of coaching capaicity.

I am a BR fan and we defo have made good progress in the way we play.

Still lightweight though and I do think the BR learning curve isn't progressing at a steep enough incline

Liverpool to move for Howdes or Kosciellney at the end of the season.
Kelly to be the 3rd CB

You mean Laurent 'OG' Koscielny?

12 Feb 2013 12:08:26
How's it going eds? Quick question. Everyone on here is banging on about GK's, weren't LFC looking at Ochoa? I know its's way too early to say who we're interested in but am intrigued his name was mentioned? Have a good day boys. Nice 1. Gaz {Ed002's Note - I really don't know as I said at the time.}

Ed002 this morning le parisien are reporting (and they are, I have checked) that we have made enquiries about ancellotti and his plans for next year. Are we already looking at replacements for rodgers if they decide to sack him at the end of the year? {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool for Ancelotti - but I will see if I can find out more. It strikes me as unlikely unless it was a third party doing it on "behalf" of the club. Also, I am not aware that the owners are looking for a new manager at the moment.}

Dont sack rodgers

If true, I'd think that this was a dumb move. We don't want to keep replacing managers every year, there's no stability there and there are obvious example of that already. Also, excusing the result yesterday, I think Rodgers' system is really turning us into a force, but we keep being let down by silly mistakes, sadly in our back 5 where they're most costly.

ChrisMiz

Ed002 I was suprised by the story but le parisien are not one to make up stories and they seem certain that it happened? {Ed002's Note - As I said, I will check.}

12 Feb 2013 13:08:24
BAD MOVE! If it is true of course and not just crazy speculation. I thought plan was to build a team NOT tear it apart already.

Typical knee jerk reaction from certain quarters. last night was a setback but we need to keep at it and get a result in the swansea game

Few weeks ago when I mentioned that the time has come to look for a new manager, I was criticized for my Knee jerk reaction. How long are we going to continue with this farce. The inexperienced owners chose an inexperienced manger due to their knee jerk reaction. Rodgers had inability to judge the enormity of the job but took it for his self glory. He was helped in the early days by the doco Being Liverpool ( which should have been titled Being Rodgers). He has no idea on game plan and his choices of players is worse then some one playing the manager on video games. The ones who are currently singing the praises of Sturridge are the same people who were singing the praises of Allen. I firmly believe that the owners should have given a bit longer to Kenny whose experience would have brought the team slowly back to glory. I hope the stories of Rodger's departure gather pace otherwise we are doomed. It is fool hardy to give him more chances when his record is worse then any manager we have had.

Ancelotti, Bad move? No that's a GOOD move, won titles all over europe and has player pulling power. He plays with two defensive mids, like rafa did and has PL experience, winning the double with chelski! I like BR but based on his signings, I wouldn't be at all suprised.

Jamie

I'm sure the manager situation will be sorted out come the end of the season based on the final league position. we will probably finish 6th, is that good enough for LFC and does it siginify progress from last season? probably not as last season we won a trophy and got to the final in the other. There were also key injuries last season and remeber luis's ban that meant we finished a poor 8th.
on another note ed, do you ever think we will be back in a position when we will ever again be able to attract top british players? gareth bale for example. the money we've wasted on borini, allen and asssaidi should have been spent on a top player that can improve the side. long ago we would have got him. now we can only dream of him and hope the mancs do not get him
G

Ancelotti is one of the best coaches/managers in world football. It would be a fantastic coup if Liverpool landed him as boss next season.

Rodgers is doing a good job! we will have little blips in the road like last night its all part of the learning curve. Rodgers style of play and his passion for our great club will be a force he just needs time. The players are to blame for last night not the manager. YNWA BR

12 Feb 2013 16:18:48
anything would be better than rodgers, he's turning us into a bunch of lightweights who aren't very good

Can we give the man a chance please, we've finished 7th, 6th, 8th the last 3 years, we are currently hovering around 8th place. that's with 4 different managers. it's not the manager, it's the PLAYERS.

Stability is great if things are working well and consistently, but if they are not being a stable mid-table side is not exactly an encouraging thought. I don't know whether BR should/will/won't get the sack, but I certainly wouldn't rule it our for some notion of irrelevant 'stability'.

The amount of fickle fans on this website is alarming. At what point is it the managers fault when we have 20 shots to our opponents 4 and lose 2-0? We should of had 6 points against last years champions but not for 2 glaring individual errors or are we to blame this on the manager again? This is a transition year and Rome wasn't built in a day. Only by the end of next season can you really judge Rodgers.

If the owners had known anything they would have held fast at the end of Dalglish's caretaker stint, and picked up Ancelotti when Abramovich fired him that Summer. It was on the cards once his assistant had been dispensed with during the season.

Our defence leaks goals just like Swansea's did last season despite having supposedly better players. It's one of the flaws to his 'philosophy'. He had no madate to take on such a job. One season in management in the PL and one whole season in the Championship. People aren't being knee-jerk in wanting him out. It's just a shame that we'd be paying out so much again to change manager and giving out signals of complete instability. Abramovich gets away with it because he can give his managers such a good budget. FSG can't. That's the only reason we need to keep him until the end of next season. Dalglish at least got us European football of some sort. We won't have that this time around to attract players.

I don't agree that Being Liverpool 'helped' Rodgers: he came across like David Brent most of the time!
He bull####ted his way into the job by pulling the wool over the eyes of our owners; telling them what they wanted to hear in 'Moneyball'-speak.
For a Liverpool manager to only have one way of playing, with no regard to the opposition's tactics, is not good enough.
For a Liverpool manager To be out-thought by the managers of teams like Villa, West Brom, Stoke and Swansea, is not good enough.
I originally thought that Rodgers needed at least a season before being judged, but I've had enough already. If Ancelloti is available in the summer, we should get him in: at the very least he would sort the bloody defence out!

12 Feb 2013 11:06:03
Hi Eds, do you know of any direct interest already in any central defenders given it looks like we could have 3 going out? Or is it still too early to be looking towards the summer {Ed001's Note - it is still too early to say who are the likely ins, but we do know central defenders are priority.}

This is going to throw a few people but I work at Anfield and I am hearing strong rumours that Joe Hart will be a Liverpool player next season. He is fed up with all the hassle at Man City and has fell out with several players and the management. He is best friends with Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson and is a Liverpool supporter, he also thinks LFC will develop into a top team in the next few years. With Riena Going to Spain at the End of the season the figure would be around 20 Mil, but that will be easily raised from a Anfield clear out. :)

12 Feb 2013 11:58:28
Wa-hey! That would be great. But I think it all depends if Mancini is let go first. The owners will certaintly want to keep core of squad if they do.

Maybe he's been hit in the head too many times, because there is no way Liverpool will become a top team in the next few years. unless you have information on a new manager coming in?

As much as I would love Joe hart at anfield there is not a hope in hell that this will happen
Belfast

You never know this could happen. its not like man city are playing good football and with all the egos at city I could see him becoming fed up with the egocentric attitudes of the underachieving stars.
-slim

Not a chance. Young man moving from a title winning team into a mid table squad and taking a big pay cut to do so? City would never let him go, never mind him want to come to us

Joe Hart grew up an Arsenal fan.

Joe Hart supports Shrewsbury Town. I thought everyone knew that?

I'm from Shrewsbury like joe and whilst I don't know him, we have mutual friends. Joe grew up an arsenal fan. And his first name is really Charles!

Get real, comeon! Liverpool fans are tragic, I have personally thrown crap at ed02 for saying stuff like that, but I take it all back and if he/she reads this I really really from the bottom of my heart apologize because you are completly right.
these can't be supporters or real fans!fickle, negative, and completly unreal and have almost no clue about football or how it works. you should be ashamed of yourselves.
jovetic?hart?eriksen? and all other names. why would they come to us? they can chooose from top clubs. Benitez and co ruined our wage budget balance and we are still to this day paying off beitez signings and hodgson signings and kenny signings, the only differnce is all the players you slate and want out along with the manager are all so young and could and some of them will turn out world class but with fans like you I doubt they will stay here so we can see it. how can anybody in their right mind come out and judge coutinho on 10 min? or saying sterling is rubbish and allen and so on and so on, am embarresed of being a Liverpool supporter, but not because the club lost a game or 2 or 10 but because of you so called fans waiting for something to happen to come out and lay you crap and rubbish on all of us real fans who understand the reality of football and that its not football manager you can turn it off and start over and things don't go your way or take over another club and get 100M to sign these names most of you living in dreamland talk about. realstic targets is more like thomas ince, Amorbieta, a young german Keeper.

PHARAOH

Joe hart is no arsenal fan

just an enquiry for the eds but with carra retiring and skrtel most likely leaving is there any chance of dawson from spurs? would be the ideal replacement as he is experienced and a natural leader also doubt he would cost too much as he has dropped down the spurs pecking order {Ed001's Note - no, he is not coming and he has not dropped down the pecking order.}

Why would Dawson want to leave an exciting champions league team to join a mid table declining giant like us?

11 Feb 2013 23:40:07
Please make my day eds and tell me we have looked at Alhassane Bangoura, from Rayo Vallecano. The guy ripped Atletico apart over the weekend and at 20, would prove youthful enough to get good mileage / return on. Is there a slim chance.
Much appreciated, still think we are going in the right direction. Just a blip. ! {Ed002's Note - Sorry, I can't help with your MOTD fever.}
