Hi eds, just seen a media report linking us with breel emboli as one of klopps top targets, don't know much apart from YouTube about the lad. Is he a target and is he any good?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Basel's Breel Embolo remains a target of Arsenal, Borussia Moenchengladbach, Spurs, Inter, Juventus, Red Bull Leipzig and West Ham with Basel aware of interest from all of these clubs in addition to Wolfsburg who have discussed a transfer with the club. Inter will push to agree a summer move as they don't have the money for a January transfer unless they can offload Icardi. Barcelona, Everton, Real Madrid, Southampton, Liverpool and Leicester have also had the player watched.}

To be honest, if he doesn't fancy Benteke, I have no idea why he'd go for Emboli as they are very similar.

I take it you have never watched embolo play so Mr. dennis as he is nothing like benteke.

Maybe he means because they both have small ears. Although still, not really. They're hardly Kolo sized. ;)

Hhahaha. Embolo is a radically different player from Benteke. They both kick the ball with their feet. That's where the similarities end.

Seriously, where do people come up with this stuff?

Embolo, actually, is a lot like Ousmane Dembele -- lots of pace, but arguably more power than Dembele. I've been advocating us going after Embolo for a while. He can offer us explosive pace and power off the wing.

No surprise that the links to Embolo have appeared just as it seems Dembele has committed to BvB. The Guardian reported that Klopp spoke to Dembele last week, and said he was "impressed" by Klopp's plans, but then later said "he knows where he's going" after explicitly rejecting Leicester.

He's going to BvB, so maybe Embolo was another name on our list after Dembele.

{Ed023's Note - Dortmund have confirmed the transfer of Dembele}

Hes a YouTube player. Seen him play and he looks like his brain and his feet aren't connected most of the time, shows flashes of brilliance but that's all. Not convinced.

You do he's 19 years old 😇.

Eds - what are your thoughts on Embolo? He is only slightly older than Ojo but both look to be quite similar in their play, size and strength. Is he leaps ahead of Ojo or similar in quality and so we just stick with what we have?

Agree0 Disagree5

{Ed002's Note - He is a decent player that many clubs are taking note of. It is always difficult to compare one player with another.}

13 May 2016 08:38:05
For a young lad he's certainly worth keeping an eye on, he's good now, got plenty of time to improve further.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - there is nothing much changed since the last time I put one up to be honest, that I have. I will chase up and see if there is anything recent that I have missed while I was busy with real life.}

11 May 2016 13:27:55
any truth in the interest in Thomas Lemar of Monaco?

Believable2 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - Bayern Munich approached Monaco regarding Thomas Lemar after a game where they were scouting another player. They were told he would not be sold but have asked to be kept informed. In similar circumstances, Manchester City scouts reported back on Lemar after scouting the same player as Bayern Munich. Manchester City spoke informally to Monaco who made it clear that it would take a wholly unreasonable amount of money to make them consider an offer. With a number of clubs watching another Monaco player I understand that Atletico, PSG, Liverpool and Benfica have also all taken the opportunity to have Lemar watched.}

I have seen that The Guardian are linking us with Ousmane Dembele (along with Dortmund) . I know he is linked with a number of clubs, could you clarify whether Liverpool are one of them? And also, which other clubs are interested? I searched the European pages and didn't find anything.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - Renne's Ousmane Dembele is seen as one for the future and has attracted the attention of Dortmund, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Marseille, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Seville, Roma, Leicester, Spurs, Liverpool, Lille and Manchester City amongst others. Dortmund have been negotiating a deal for the summer. Most others see the transfer fee as pretty outrageous.}

11 May 2016 13:29:06
Thanks for the reply - some pretty big names in there, it will be interesting to see if he lives up to the potential.

Agree0 Disagree8

{Ed002's Note - I think that is the point - "potential". That is why most of these clubs step back when they hear the asking price.}

11 May 2016 13:50:15
Media outlets saying 28 million pounds for Dembele. Hope LFC steer clear because that price is just outrageous for a 18 year old when we already have our own teenage wingers to groom for the future.
Also hope the club pushes forward with a deal for Rafa Silva. Looks great, at least on youtube.

Jordan Ibe has "potential" but Dembele is more than potential as he's already delivering. Ibe for example has the potential to be a very good player but Dembele already is, he has the potential to be truly world class. He has 12 goals and 5 assists in Ligue 1 this year, won young player of the year last week and has one of the highest whoscored ratings of any players in France. If your good enough your old enough is a saying that comes to mind. Leicester and Dortmund have been heralded for there scouting over recent years and they are two of the front runners for Dembele, that should tell us that the lads probably a good player. Dembele ruled Leicester out today, saying he was on the phone with Ranieri already, rumours are rife he was on the phone with Klopp was well and all went well. £27.5m is a lot of money for an 18 year old but it's a lot less then United payed for Martial, he turned out alright and wasn't as highly rated as this kid. Liverpool need good pacey wingers who can contribute goals to the team and Dembele fits the mould.

{Ed002's Note - The discussion with Ranieri was not that recent and he had permission to talk with the player.}

Donal dembele is delivering in France you can hardly compare him to ibe. I guarantee if you put ibe into a top 5 French club his stats would be a lot better. joe Cole looked a world beater again when we loaned him to lille.

How much did Martial cost UTD? He has cemented his place on the left side, Didn't he?
Dembele is top class and all he needs is proper development and Liverpool could just provide that over any club. I could see a Hazzard in the kid. I hope we buy him.
