This is probably a load of crap but hearing the Lyon share prices have dropped fueling speculation that a deal to us is still on but after the world Cup.

Believable9 Unbelievable6

11 Jun 2018 22:17:28
Share price would have dropped because there was no deal, therefore less profit for the year. saying that I wouldn't read anything into price volatility. volatility is just a representation of trader emotions.

What about gelson Martins from sporting Lisbon as an alternative too fekir he is so good front 3 mane Salah martins with firmino just behind or alternate would be scary and rapid fire, also the idea of draxler as an alternative would be nice if he has the hunger an desire too get better with us. On fekir there president has not said there player has expressed too stay another season just that he was staying, I think if fekir pushes it things might change as he had shirt on was going to do interviews an the medical he was invested in signing for us, his head was with us so interesting too see how it plays out.

It dropped in a similar manner around the time of the Lacazette transfer saga and that still went ahead even after Aulas publicly denied it. Maybe I'm just getting my hopes up as I'm desperate to see Fekir in a Liverpool shirt!

I know I'm not the only one hoping we go back in for him after the WC. My only concern though is that Aulas initially wanted to push negotiations back until the WC was done on the off chance Fekir had a good tournament in which case they could demand more for him. If that does happen I wonder whether LFC will pay an increased price considering the whole debacle at the moment. Would they be seen to pay more for a player they initially called a halt to due to his injury history or would they want to save face and cut their nose off to spite their face?

1- Gelson Martin will only come as a replacement of Salah.
2- We are looking for a Coutinho replacement.

Is this what it has come to in regards to the Fekir transfer saga? Watching the share price on the stock market rise and fall? It gets more embarrassing by the day.

There was talk that Lyon wanted to delay the Fekir transfer till the 30th June so it will go on the figures for 2018/ 19. They have already made good profit for 2017/ 18 trough the sales of Lacazette and Tolisso. Probably more rubbish.

When was the last time we produced a decent keeper from our own academy?

I'm 47, been a supporter since I was 8, don't think I can think of one.

Been a while since a good home town goalkeeper anyway!

You could say the same about the majority of premier league teams.

11 Jun 2018 18:00:08
I can remember back as far as Clemence and can't remember any home grown keepers. There was lots of potential but none ever came through the ranks.

11 Jun 2018 18:00:31
was Gulasci from the academy? If he was then heā€™s become a competent keeper for a decent bundesliga side.

Agree8 Disagree0

11 Jun 2018 18:02:04
Iā€™m 46, supporting since a similar time and I agree with Johnny.

So we ether go half hearted and buy Butland level or go all out for a top keeper and spend Ā£80m.

11 Jun 2018 18:06:41
Fair point. Although that Irish lad caomhin Kelleher highly regarded. Last keeper from ressies to get a lookin. a tough one mate. Tony warner? A danish keeper in early 90's?

Tommy Lawrence. the first sweeper Keeper.

11 Jun 2018 18:36:51
Tommy Lawrence. Loved the guy. He was known as the 'Flying Pig'. Big lad in all senses of the phrase. He was in goal in my first ever Liverpool match attendance in 1962-3 season.

Grabara from the u23's is very good! should be made 3rd choice keeper and ay any dead rubber games or be sent out on loan for the season.

David James was good.

Agree1 Disagree12

11 Jun 2018 20:16:13
David James was a clown and was bought from Watford to replace Grobelaar. He was lauded as the next big thing in England.

Agree8 Disagree1

11 Jun 2018 20:45:09
Bob bolder was the last homegrown keeper. Him and Bruce grobelaar.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Grobbelaar was hardly HG.}

11 Jun 2018 21:41:02
Didnā€™t David James once injure this thumb from playing the PlayStation?

Agree3 Disagree0

11 Jun 2018 22:06:51
In fairness, David James was considered the best England goalkeeper for a long time and won over 50 caps. Shows how bad the keepers are in England overall.
Last decent keeper in England was David Seaman in my opinion.

11 Jun 2018 23:15:05
Stephan Henchoz was good in the fa cup final.

Agree5 Disagree0

12 Jun 2018 00:01:19
Bob Boulder came from Sheffield Wed if I can remember right but never got a game for us back in the 80s. He was suppose to be Grobbelars understudy.

David James cost Liverpool the title more than once, he was terrible, great shot stopper but awful decision maker.

Agree1 Disagree2

12 Jun 2018 13:19:29
David James never injured himself playing his PlayStation, he blamed it for destroying his concentration in matches. He maybe had a point but he must have kept playing it anyway.

afternoon ed's seen rumours of huddersfield and Fulham interested in Wilson, anything in this?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - there is a fair bit of interest in him but LFC were looking to give him a chance in pre-season first, while the likes of Salah are going to be late back.}

12 Jun 2018 09:40:21
thanks for the reply, i have a real hope he can push on and become a good option upfront! although i do think if we sign shaquiri it will make life difficult for him.

although he is still very young so another year away could do wonders!

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2018 11:36:41
I doubt another year away will do anything for him because most teams will want him for his offensive ability. Klopp might want him to be more diligent tracking back etc but most teams will want him to be camped in places where he can burst past defenders and score goals.

ED002 or ED001

Hope all is well!

It seems Alisson Becker would ideally like his future sorted in the coming days/ weeks, do you boys still see his most likely suitor to be RM?

Thanks for all your knowledge.

Tommy T.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer ā€œmost likelyā€ questions but he would like to move to Madrid.}

11 Jun 2018 10:58:20
Ed can i ask you opinion on the cillesen rumours. they won't go away and i just can't understand buying a 29yr reserve keeper for 40m. Please confirm its rubbish.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the interest is in him as a back up, he is nowhere near first choice, thankfully.}

11 Jun 2018 11:11:22
Appreciate your response.

Im trying to possibly see if you can give me any details or any hope at all that Liverpool may place a bid for this beat of a player. Out of fall players I would like him the most, fingers crossed.

I think it was a few weeks a go I had asked a question and I recall you mentioning klopp is a loyal manger as I was comparing him to what Mourinhio may do in this situation, however, I do like loyalty myself. (this question was also prior to the UCL GF)

Just wondering if anything could change here.

Thanks Ed.
love your work.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - To be fair it has rather been done to death. In discussionsn with Roma about another player, another club who asked were told they have to wait for Alisson as the player really wants to move to Madrid.}

11 Jun 2018 11:23:20
Expensive back up. Are there any other keepers as a possible ed, or just whst has been explained in Allison, Butland.

Cillessen has the same flaws in his game as Mignolet. Plus heā€™s barely played over the last two years. Hopefully Chelsea will sign him instead.

Agree2 Disagree2

11 Jun 2018 15:00:47
Ed2 wouldn't Allison be bought as a second choice to De Gea/ Courtois if Real were to succeed in their attempts to buy either of those two? Is it still a move he would look to if that scenario was to occur, or does he want to be first choice? I remember reading that Real tried to sign a keeper in January but he wasn't happy to play second fiddle so rejected them. I forget the name. Sorry if this is the wrong page to post this.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - This is the Liverpool late.}

11 Jun 2018 15:03:07
I was just about to say the same thing now Smedegaard!

I wonder how much Sky Sports pay these "sources" of theirs!

Thank you Ed002, aka "The Source. "

Agree0 Disagree2

11 Jun 2018 18:48:35
Tbh i would prefer he didn't come if his preference is real. If real don't buy him and we get him instead it will be the usual story of him developing into a world class player here and then decide he wants out to play for Barcelona or real.

Get someone in who wants to take us to the next level, not use as as a stepping stone.

Ed you have mentioned Draxler as possible alternative to Fekir, can I ask please is this you saying he would be a good option in your opinion or does Klopp actually want him?

Also prople are putting Ziyech as another option but i've not seen a post with you saying that at all?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to answer any weird questions about Draxler. Ziyech is the subject of discussions with another side.}

11 Jun 2018 08:57:12
Ziyech going Roma?

{Ed002's Note - Try the European pages.}

11 Jun 2018 09:02:32
People, it is utterly pointless wasting your time trying to think up alternatives or asking the Eds on the hour, every hour. Klopp wanted Virgil and ended up waiting 5 months to get him, he wanted Keita and agreed to a deal that would see him arrive a year later. Klopp wants Fekir and Fekir wants to come. Just chill, the World Cup starts in four days and most of the players we want are going to be in Russia focusing on that. Let's just enjoy the football and cheer on Bobby, ManƩ, Salah, Trent, Hendo and Grujic! (and even Migs who will be sticking to what he's best at and warming the bench)

Oh damn, EP, you got me! Of course I'll be cheering for Big Dejan! I genuinely like the guy a lot. I even watched the Senegal v Croatia game the other day, just a Monday morning brain fart, do please excuse.
I'm already hoping we get to see Hendo and Trent trying to stop Sadio. Or how about Salah vs Ramos the revenge? :)

11 Jun 2018 10:06:23
Jurgen meister, can you and others stop trying to rewrite history and comparing vvd and the fekir situation. Our failure to sign vvd last summer wasn't because the club's haven't agreed terms as is the case with fekir at present. Our failure to sign vvd was down to klopps illegal approach to another club's player. End of story. The two situations are chalk and cheese.

Agree2 Disagree4

11 Jun 2018 10:38:24
I know BrisbaneLFC, you're stating the obvious. It is not the circumstances that are relevant, but Klopp's single-mindedness and willingness to wait as long as it takes to get the player he wants. As for 'trying to rewrite history', I literally haven't the vaguest notion where you get that from or what you mean by it.

Agree6 Disagree0

11 Jun 2018 15:48:04
Ha Jurgen, if you could really rewrite history, life would be so much better .
