eds do you know the transfer situation with Sakho at PSG he is in his very early 20's and isn't getting much game time their just wondering if lfc r interested or have evn bid in the past {Ed002's Note - Arsenal have consdered Sakho in the past - but there is growing interest from Inter Milan and possible interest lingering interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. PSG are not keen on selling.}

Are you stupid? he is there captain he obviously is getting game time. he played 22 ligue 1 games last season

Who wants Borini?... vote believable if you do and unbelievable if you dont

Is it true that we're signing a Brazilian? Or is it looking at one?
Keep up the great work ed's and great site! You guys really do have a great knowledge of footballers! {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath over signing one, but Liverpool did have a number scouted fairly recently.}

11 Jul 2012 19:47:32
Burak yilmaz ed??.... Has this one got any truth in it?......

A liverbird upon my chest {Ed002's Note - Burak Yilmaz has attracted interest from Sevilla, Spurs, Fulham, Dortmund, Beyer Leverkusen and Newcastle. There are also unconfirmed rumours of interest from Liverpool dating from early June. Lazio and Lokomotiv Moscow have both spoken with the player.}

11 Jul 2012 19:42:48
any of the eds no were Berbatov is most likely to move thanks {Ed002's Note - Nope - Gala and Malaga had shown some little interest, but that is it.}

Please take him, yours for a box of peanut chunky kitkats and a case of irn bru. Deal?

Why would you no where he is moving to /from

According to Newell's secretary Pablo Morosano, everything is in place to bring 'La Fiera' back to Rosario once he becomes a free agent.

"We are waiting for official news about the end of Maxi's link [with Liverpool]. There is an ongoing contact and we have a deal agreed with him," the official revealed to Ole.

"But as long as his exit from Liverpool has not been settled, we cannot announce it."

Posted recently that Maxi is heading out of Anfield. His astronomical wages will make room for new faces and possibly see Sterling being played more which could only be a good thing.

Not a fan of Maxi myself but all of the best to him.

Hello all, great site
Just to say the "moose" from talksport is reporrting that according to his source in Wales, joe Allen is set to follow rogers into Liverpool. As I understand it rogers is not able to instigate a deal for any Swansea player. However this agreement is void Ida particular player were to hand in a transfer request. Joe Allen will be the exciting signing in my opinion.

Moose is a cretin mate,during the euro he made up a story about Moyes leaving the bitters...it infuriated the club that much they threatened him with a law suit if he didn't admit to making it up.which he did,quickly. DON'T believe a word...
Unklemad.

What type of player is Allen?
He seems very similar to Henderson, Shelvey and Gerrard from what little I have seen of him.
How many midfield players do we need?

The same moose who was 100% that Klopp was going to be our new manager? The guy's full of cr*p.

There is no need to buy another central midfielder. We have Henderson, Gerrard, Lucas, spearing to name a few

The Moose, my word! He says he is 'in the know', He's about as itk as my gran about signings! he is a total tool. Supports West Ham, and knows feck all about them too!!

Coily

Don't think so aquillani is staying at Liverpool so we don't need any more midfielders.cheers psv

Another henderson? Dont get me wrong if we can get him cheap im sure he will improve the squad but doesnt excite me, sorry

No mate Spurs will come in and offer a bit more cash and he will go there

This would be a huge signing, he dominated possession for swans last year, dominated against us twice, he is skillfull, quick, hard to tackle, 100% passing and cool as a cucumber, if he was Spanish he would play for barca.

Hes a better player than henderson i hope this is true

The moose gets his info from sportinglife.com
the only source he has is tomato sauce on his burgers

Allen is better than Henderson and Shelvey IMO. Not saying you should necessarily sign him

Gav

I Hope wee buy Joe Allen and sell Jay Spearing on center midtfield. I agreed that wee have too mouch cm but wee need Allen or Alonso next season too get top 4 I hope for.

Yawn yawn more mediocre players just what we need!

Eds do u think modric on his way to madrid?
Basy {Ed002's Note - Perhaps. Nothing is resolved yet.}

Sly sports reporting that Carroll may be heading back to Newcastle! Alan Pardew playing it down according to story

Just a thought for all, were linked to almost all players at some point, and many over and over on the rumour sites, but I have a question - If Rogers can do so well with Swansea and so called "lesser" players why are we so concerned with getting hoards of new players in (fans on rumour sites not the club), is Dyer better than Cole or Henderson, Allen better than Stevie, D. Graham better than Carroll etc etc... I would say no, so why dont we all wait to see how BR gets our players playing then say where we stand?

I think the style of our play is the main thing that needs to change not the staff...

If we get a couple quality signings I wont be complaining but lets see what BR can produce, the players have under-performed under KK and RH, I think BR will get them going

Carroll going ,so were is our plan b then carroll coming off the bench in the last 20mins to snatch the points ,if plan a fails we will ,we need quality in & get rid of the below averages.

People keep saying about how well ROdgers did at Swansea but remember that he had good players which he obviously brought in such Allen, Sig, Dyer, Sinclair and they still only finished 11th. I do not think that we would be pleased if we finished 11th. It is fair to say that he did extremely well given budget but I would not say that the players he had were s**t...

Sly also reported that a source told them carroll is happy at liverpool and no enquiries have been made, think they are just covering all their bases

Maybe because the new manager has been successful with a certain style of play and he requires player that can cope with and complement that.

BRs style of football can't be implicated in 2 weeks UNO...... Hel end up tryn 2 sort the team out n gt us relegated

No one said the Swansea players were s**t just that the players we currently have are better than the ones at Swansea, so why the need to buy better? BR will get them playing better that the Swans as we have better players, 11th is a good finish for swansea, but BRs style with our squad will see a better finish then we did last year and certainly better than 11th

Carroll back to Newcastle would be a bad move for LFC.They are one of the clubs that could keep us out of the top 4 He is just showing signs of returning to the form he showed before we bought him from the Magpies and could do us serious damage on top form. I feel he should be given a chance to prove himself or loaned abroad.
CR

Carrol wont go back to the Magpies,the fans h8 him and he would get booed,why would Liverpool loan him out to another premiship club as well as its helping them in the league .if he goes any were it will be abroad ,hes staying anyway!

We should be keeping our best players, and caroll is one of them, kuyt gone bellamy might be goin we are lacking in the forward department as it is, we will be playing more games this year with the europa i think we need as big a squad as possible as last year even it looked bare.

I partly agree and disagree. we were playing the right system we just never finished our chances. however i think that you are smack on about how we shouldn't pass judgement until we see how our club fares in BR's style.

News of the eventual arrival at Newell's, has led to its president, Guillermo Lorente, noted that "due to the versions that emerged through media and social networks, I want to communicate to the fans lepers Maxi has not been disconnected Liverpool FC "

Hi

This is to ed001 what do u think the situation with Ramirez is as there is mixed responses from different eds some think we have a chance others don't think we r interested same applies to borini as a few of the eds were saying he is not interested in a move back to England whilst others are saying he could well be on his way

I'm not criticising any of the eds u guys do a fantastic job trying ur best do answer our questions I just wanted to know where u think we stand with these players as it gets confusing with different responses

Cheers
Mo {Ed001's Note - from what I can gather, there is some interest in Ramirez, but we have yet to make a move for him. We have looked at him repeatedly, like we did Luuk De Jong, but that doesn't always lead to a bid.}

What do you mean "looked at repeatedly"? Is it the same video of him being repeated over and over. No wonder we have not made a decision yet.

Good to have you back ed001. Haven't seen you in a while. {Ed002's Note - Good behaviour.}

Am getting fed up of hearing about this guy now, if he comes it will be this week while his national team are in the liverpool area if not i very much doubt it will happen,because you would have to wait untill after the Olympics

LFCBoston have said they heard from JWH that "looks like we got the striker from roma". they dont post rumours and are the offical supporters club in boston.

Not that signing him is a surprise but looks pretty much done i guess

Just had a look at the lpool website after reading another post, it looks like they have in deed taken off the Borini rumours. Might be nothing in it but this is a rumour site after all and I have never known the LFC website to remove stories from their media section.

RAH, YNWA

Indeed all the post related to Borini have been removed. Perhaps he has decided to stay in Italy.

So what, they removed it and replaced it with another story, every site in the world does the same, give it a rest

The new one now will be jose calijon... the rumoured targets are gettin better haha

They have only removed the Borini rumour posts and left all other posts that I read this morning, including posts older than some of the Borini rumours. I don't why they have done this, but that is the fact. May be he is no longer a rumour?

Like the majority of these sites that post links to other things, they are probably being paid per click so if it's not getting clicks because everyone who's is ever gonna read it has clicked then they will change it for something else. Just a thought

Cudge

I can't imagine that's the case, Cudge. Not to mention a very 'strong' rumour would mean more 'clicks' not less...

I think you can definitely infer that Borini is on his way... It wouldn't look good for the club's first signing to be announced via external sites than it's own official one. There may even be a legal problem with juxtaposing the fact and the rumour... Legitimising all 'rumours', as it were...

11 Jul 2012 16:12:05
dear eds

what do you make of jakub blaszczykowski agent coming out and sying liverpool have an interest in his client. Is this genuine or is it some sort of ploy to get a better contract

{Ed005's Note - I don't think it is true mate I think it is perhaps to drum up interest or as you've said, to get a better contract maybe. I wouldn't mind him though - I think he's been a solid player for Dortmund.}

Ed005.. Didn't he move to Anzhi last summer?

Chaki {Ed002's Note - No.}

Thanks ed,, another thing I was wondering is why Roma and his agent are being so transparent about the borini deal. Usually clubs keep it all quite and deny everything but this thime they have confirmed the interest, the bid, its accceptance and the fact that borini is considiring the offer {Ed002's Note - Everything is always pretty open in Italy.}

I think this lad posted on twitter that Liverpool Roma and someone else (can't remember) were interested in him

11 Jul 2012 16:04:58
According to a scource on the internet ESPN! Liverpool are offering 16 million for suseata of athletic bilboa. Monksy

He would be an excellent signing. If we could do them a deal and get Muniain with him we would open the door to many more defences than we have been doing. Both quality players. If we don't get them someone else will.

There's nothing on the espn website about this

Andy

Even with bad rumours we are paying way too much for players...

11 Jul 2012 16:01:37
ed002, with the club all set to sign clint dempsey & Fabio Borini this week who are the other 2 -3 players you think BR is targeting ? or would it depend on which players are moved out?
I for one think a front 3 of suarez-borini-dempsey would be great.. {Ed002's Note - I suspect these are the most likely right now. MAcca also mentioned interest in Allen.}

And yet the Liverpool eds say these 2 won't sign

So who is supposed to be the exciting signing? neither of these are...

Would love to see us sign wee joe allen. gonna be huge....well, not huge *sniggers*
spearing will have to go tho. cant have 2 vertically challenged cm's now can we.

Len

Dempsey is too old but Allen is a decent player at the right price. I would like a couple more after that perhaps Ramirez or Munian and another top winger like susaeta or affellay.

Dempsey is old a joke, n as a liverpool fan, gettin rid andy carroll for Dempsey is a major step back! So don't know what Brendon's Rodgers who has no European experience, and only 1 season in the top flight, fills me with hope, what we goin for the bottom half this year! The owners say they want youth policy, but yet were being linked with dimple Dempsey! I think they know nothing about football at all, all other top teams even 1's in the Europa league making bigger signing than us! I jus get that feeling we've got another hicks n Gillette, any development on the stadium yet by any chance??? Hmmmm I think not!

11 Jul 2012 15:16:38
Hi eds, just asking if Canales would be available this summer. Would be a decent signing. {Ed002's Note - Canales missed most of the season with a crutiate injury but remains at Valencia. He is on a loan to buy deal and will not be moving to Liverpool next season. I suspect that the player has no interest in a move away from Spain as demonstrated by the previous interest of Manchester City and Arsenal being rejected.}

Canales is in his way to Malaga,4 year 70k a week contract

11 Jul 2012 15:13:45
Hi eds, juat wondering if LFC would consider a bid for Jurado, who i think is surplus to reqirements at Schalke after being not so impressive. He could be a decent backup player, honestly I feel that he is worth the risk as he would be cheap, both transfer fees and wages. {Ed002's Note - Is he going to be an improvement over what the club has or is he going to take away a place from a youngster?}

Jurado lol. Sounds like something Vic Reeves would say

11 Jul 2012 14:46:36
Hi Eds, with Villarreal needing to make cut back son their wages it would be a good time to take a look at Nilmar and Zapata. Can you see them being viable options?
Cheers {Ed002's Note - Nilmar is very likely to move to Internacional to replace Oscar with Roma, Galatasary, Fiorentina also showing an interest but not his favoured Sao Paulo. Zapata will be moving but Napoli (who he has permission to speak with) Juventus and the two Milanese clubs are favourite.}

I thought oscar wasnt moving this summer? Or is it Damiao hes replacing? {Ed002's Note - Oscar. Things have moved on.}

11 Jul 2012 12:44:41
ed002 is there any interest from us in Thomas Muller or is he likely to go to city in some sort of swap with Dzeko thanks {Ed002's Note - Manchester United, Lazio and Chelsea failed with bids after the world cup. If he is available this summer there may well be interest from Chelsea at the right price but chances of that are diminishing. Expect a part exchange deal involving Manchester City and Dzeko as one option. Somehow I doubt he will move.}

11 Jul 2012 12:22:17
Real Madrid to offer Liverpool alonso and cash for Daniel agger

So Real are going to offer their best player from last season PLUS CASH? Seriously, why even waste your time!

If we are going to get Alonso it wont be a deal like this

RAH, YNWA

If he comes back will be next season not this, personally think he is the best midfielder in the world at the moment as his all round game is fantastic. Though i don't think we'd be paying £20 million as he has not long left on his contract and we sold him for that to them. I'd say £15 millon max.

Other way round we have to pay cash plus give them Agger

Rah, thankyou man...i just cant understand how stupidsome of these rumours are mate!!its incredable that pople dont see, that alonso, mascherano, torres, arbeloa, etc.etc. left the club for a reason and are NOT coming back!!

The same nameless who wrote the one above just to add credence
Geez

In fairness he has won everything now...and he did leave Liverpool on good terms declaring his love for the club...cash deal possibly. It would certantly be the "exciting" deal we are all waiting for

I'd love to see Xabi back, but not at the expense of Agger-doo.

Quit living in the past. Xabi is gone...let's move forward.

Every transfer window, he's not
Coming back! Move on!

People keep saying it, cause he (Alonso) stated he wanted to come back to end his career

Hi, eds(preferably ed002), please, answer. I just heard that Schalke will not be signing Van der Vaart. Heard it from one of the most reliable websites in the world, ESPNsoccernet. Is there a possibility that, we might try & get him. Please, help.

SUMON VAI {Ed002's Note - No I don't think so. He will likely go to Hamburg.}

Why preferably ed002? No offence intended to ed2 but I'd assume that the eds talk to each other. Especially asking a question like that where every ed would give you more or less the same answer. {Ed002's Note - Why would the Eds all talk to the others? Why would the other Eds all answer the same about VDV. You have some strange ideas about how this works.}

So you don't keep each other up to date with new things you hear? Makes sense I guess as you do keep contradicting yourselves. I highly doubt any of the eds would say VDV has any chance of going to Liverpool, maybe I'm wrong. {Ed002's Note - I think the other Eds may chat away about school work, girls and monster truck racing type stuff.}

Haha fair enough, always imagined you guys were like the executive types tbh.

If I was putting together a list of lazy/unfit, immobile attacking midfielders that probably won't fit the new managers setup then Rafa Van der Vaart would be extremely high on it.

Classy player, nice touch and all that but there's a reason why tottenham and madrid were looking rid (that rhymes!).

"Please help!" Hilarious ... sounds so desperate.

Too add to the previous posters point...he's also awful for the dressing room. Not a very good teammate.

Sorry guys but havent got a clue, vdv hs said he is very happy at whl, his mrs sylvia has said the same thing and that anything coming from her is rubbish regarding him leaving! and as for being lazy, yea he can be but he does put a shift in at tottenham and as for upsetting the dressing room, only once has he done that since being in england! i dont think your knowledge of other clubs is any where near as good as you think!

What do you mean he puts a shift in for tottenham lol. Have you watched him on a regular basis?

He's a 60 minute player, he literally waddles around the pitch. He's not going to get any fitter or faster.

11 Jul 2012 10:38:36
eds is there any chance of a swap deal aquilani for borini as he could return to his former club? {Ed002's Note - If there is I am sure it would suit Liverpool and Aquilani.}

I believe they are trying to raise cash for another young Italian striker so a swap type deal is probably not good for them, the Eds may know different, otherwise it would be great for us.
RNred.

11 Jul 2012 10:30:38
Seems to be rumours that Swansea will listen to offers of around 10mil for Allen. If this is true then surely BR would be able to offer too? I think this could be the ideal player we need in midfield. He seems very comfortable on the ball and knows the right pass. YNWA Waynos.

Liverpool already have Gerrard, Lucas, Adam, Henderson, Spearing, Shelvey and with Aquilani still on the books, the club need to shift some players before they spend another 10m on the centre of midfield.

Think like Gylfi Sigurdsson Rodgers will have an idea of what Allen is worth and wont bid over that and I doubt that to be 10m.

YNWA jns

Lets not forget Rodgers is NOT aloud to sign any Swansea players for 12 months!!!!!

Lets not forget Rodgers is NOT aloud to sign any Swansea players for 12 months!!!

Allowed....

Also I'm pretty sure that if Swansea want to sell or the player wants to go and other clubs are interested then we are very welcome to bid. It would be extremely stupid and naive to not do business with Liverpool in scenarios where it would suit Swansea.

I wonder if people right this rubbish just to p*** people off ?

Write!! your RIGHT though, people get annoyed with the negativity that comes from supporters

Morning eds ben smith from bbc the guy that was at the conference and spoke to rodgers off camera is know saying both dempsey and borini will sign and rodgers was talking about borini when he said an exciting striker, throw us a bone here eds any info?
cheers
laylow {Ed002's Note - THat makes sense to me. There is interest in both players and I have no doubts the exciting potential signing is Borini. If he does sign then I am surprised he wanted to return to England so soon.}

If borini is the exciting signing rogers is very easily excited !

See? I told you Borini was the exciting signing. But you lot slated me. Now eat your own words, buddies. If ed002 says, he's the exciting player then he almost certainly is.

SUMON VAI

Hope this is not the exciting new signing which we are all supposed to know about. Borini is not the level of player we should get excited about .... but then again hands up how many were excited when we got Adam and Carrol last year... Must do betted BR ...Please aim higher .....

TrueRed73

Oh great a player from roma that will cost a s**t load of money and wont settle sound familiar.

I highly doubt Borini is the exciting player, considering rodgers was speaking as if we pretty much had the deal done, all that has happened with borini is a enquiry which yesterday might have been a bid, nothing more, this suggests to me that the 2 imminent signings dont include borini. Also why in the hell are we after dempsey, he is old and has just had the best season he will ever have, we might get 2 ok years out of him but for like 10m we are much better off getting allen.

Borini from what i hear from the romans is a great player and are more then happy to keep him. the club are willing to sell him cheap. i am trusting rodgers on this one and if he says he is exciting then he is gonna be exciting end of

Great, another average player not suited to the Prem. If he comes then good luck to him, he has potential I guess.. If that's exciting and a player we will love, then god help the rest of the signings that BR gets. Probably a bit naive but hey..

All Borini-rumours have been taken off the LFC website... he's signed.

"I highly doubt Borini is the exciting player, considering rodgers was speaking as if we pretty much had the deal done, all that has happened with borini is a enquiry which yesterday might have been a bid, nothing more, this suggests to me that the 2 imminent signings dont include borini. I agree, seems like Rodgers was talking about a transfer that's further along the line than this one....

Hope borini is not the exciting new player or we are in trouble .. letting carrol go for him noooo looks like we have no money at all

Eds, do any of you think that borini has the talent or potential to be a top striker? Some how I don't! He cost Roma something in the region of 6 million so y sent other clubs in for him if he's they good and y is BR saying he's an exciting player. Pulling wool over eyes I suspect. Iv read the player profile on him and he just doesn't jump out at me. If Carroll leaves or isn't playing to the way BR wants LFC to play, and Suarez is injured or suspended then who's going to cover? Borini going to scare the defences of man city, its, Chelsea. NO! Honest opinion please. Jayb86 {Ed002's Note - MUch was expected of him at Chelsea. BR worked with him at Swansea more recently and obviously thinks enough of him to make him a target. I would trust his opinion - at least for now.}

How is borini an exciting signing????????????????

I presume those of you saying Borini is not exciting , have not watched football for the last couple of years. His movement across the front line between defenders, close control under pressure in the box and ability to pop up to poke the ball over line is excellent and will compliment Suarez perfectly. If he is to be the exciting signing, Then I'm excited.
In Brendan we trust.

I think that it's fantastic that so many erudite, well-versed footballing cognoscenti take the time out from their busy days scouting to pass on their undoubted insight into the various transfer targets that clubs have.

I know if I was the chairman at their clubs, I would rather pay their expenses for actually doing the job they're paid for, and not for posting their comprehensive profiling on this site for free.

Maybe this is their idea of parading their talents for Brendan and FSG to make them an offer as new heads of scouting and recruitment.

Personally, I put more stock in the eds info.

This makes sense to me also - as I posted 1 or 2 days ago -- It was the comment 'the fans will love him' that made me think Borini. LFC fans tend to love a player who gives 100%.

We'll see.

hi eds,great site,i am a liverpool fan of 40 years and i live in swansea.i hope br does'nt send andy carrol out on loan because when he was here he did'nt have a plan B which was a big cf who would attack the opposing cb's.Even when we were 2 down and in the last 10 mins we would still pass the ball all around the park and get no nearer their goals.The fans here put up with it because just staying in prem league was the aim for first season.lfc will have higher ambitions

You don't pay 35 million pounds for a Plan B.

And in the same way you don't sell at a loss and lose that option ...surely..my perception is that his weekly is about half Gerard's ..it would not make sense (also thinking England quota)

He's got too much potential and could fit in as a class striker for too many teams to just be brought on were desparate.

I totally agree with this post, also we know you dont pay £35 for a plan B but to sell him for £15m just as he is starting to show some worth is worse. the damage has been done now and he's proven he's a great impact player for England!

Have to agree with the opening poster. The point about Swans not having a plan B is interesting. Rogers said sometime ago that teams needed to be able to adapt to different circumstances.( or words to that effect) Carroll gives us a different option and could surprise Rogers given the chance.
C.R.

You dont pay 35 mil to send out on loan either plus everyone needs a plan a b and c lad only team that wouldnt would have messi in it dont get this carroll cant fit in stuff aswell hes good with his feet and what was danny graham for swansea

Even though he didn't do well last season, I think Carrol should be Plan A. Of the few goals he scored they were ALL QUALITY and well fought for... And anyone who thinks Carrol isn't capable of fitting BR styles (not good with feet), Watch the 2012 FA CUP Finals, I think JT thinks otherwise....

Chez....

Ed's I think we need another left back and I was wondering who u think we may be interested in I know Taiwo is available at a cheap price and that cissokho is also available for about 10m
Thanks love ur work {Ed002's Note - I would doubt interest in either player.}

Yea, we definately need alb, I mean having Enrique, Jack Robinson and Agger (If needed) just isnt enough...

Anfield Andy

10m is not cheap, this is the sort of underestimated spending that left Liverpool in trouble last season.

That's not wat I meant Taiwo is cheap and it is cissokho who costs 10m which is expensive

Cissokho is a bad player. Why do we need a left back? Jose Enrique is great when not forced to bomb forward and we have young jack Robinson in reserve.

Borini will sign before Friday, possibly medical friday. Watch this space lads, 10 games into the season, he will have his own kop song lads he is that good!

YNWA!

I hope so, my friend. I hope so. I'll gladly eat my own words if he does become successful.

SUMON VAI

Talksport reporting we have agreed a deal with him. Trust me mate, he may only be 21 but he is sublime!

You know some of Rafa's transfer dealings I doubted, some of Kenny's, deffo doubted some of Roy's but the more i think about Brendan's, the more I think the guy has a definate nose for talent.

If we are looking at Joe Allen and if we bring him in, I would be over the moon. Joe might not be a big name like Jordan or Granero, but damn he is a talented lad.

Ramirez, a rough diamond, but one who would be really good for us with work am sure.

If Carrol is on his way as it looks for me, I would love another striker to come in. If we looked at Rondon, holy s**t ! Another major talented lad.

Brendan is after young, talented, hungry professionals with some serious grit and determination. Not only are his targets talented up to their nines, but they are all gritty professionals.

Am really mad up with Borini mate, reminds me of both Rush and Fowler.

YNWA!

Last season seemed to be rife with relatively unknown/undesired strikers bursting onto the scene - look at Ba, Cisse and Jelavic! Fingers crossed it's Liverpool's turn to have some luck in that department eh!

Borini is not good enough for Liverpool- I will be thrilled if I am proved wrong but I very much doubt it

^ None of these players were unknown, Ba was scoring at West Ham last yaer, Jelavic was scoring freely in the SPL, and Cisse was top scorer in his German league last year, they are hardly unknowns, just in less known teams.

I nominate that it's sung to the tune of 'The Sweeney' from years ago.

-Shane.

OK, let me rephrase - Unknown in the EPL. Does that clear it up? They weren't highly sought after players, yet still made a huge impact. Stop being so pedantic when some of us are trying to actually instil a bit of positivity instead of the almost constant moaning about a player who hasn't even yet signed, let alone given the time to prove himself.

To the guy who said Borini isn't good enough. With respect mate, I think you need to change your glasses. What does he miss, which if he had, would make him good enough? YNWA.

No i'm sorry, but all the borini lovers out there - he is average. Sublime?! No.
Yeah, the kid has potential and we have a limited budget probably, but this is Liverpool for gods sake. He is not good enough, and yes I've seen him play. If this is the type of signings we will be making, I wish them all the luck they can possibly get, cause they're gonna need it if they're to improve on last season. Just not good enough..

I watched Roma play AC Milan last season and Roma were outstanding. They played a system that was very similar to Brendan Rodgers. Guess who was at the forfront of everything and had a very good match? Borini! He played awesome. This is the only time I've seen him play though, but I'm willing to get behind the kid if and when he does sign.

I thought he scored 1 in 2 in Seri A last year. Not bad in a country who walked over our stars in the Euros.

Mate, but answer my question. What does he NOT have which would make him worthy to join Liverpool? Am genuinely curious as to your opinion. You probably don't think Joe Allen is good enough either do you ?

He will be a class a flop worse than downing and aquaman

Cheers, Zincho

Zincho, you know in the intelligent world of offering your opinion, it helps if you can also qualify it. So why do you think he will be a flop mate ?

Funny how everyone who says he will flop, cannot qualify it.

Go watch him first and then decide.

Again zincho pops up to troll....... no ideas, no clue and very closed minded.....like too many on here, however zincho signs off unlike some who claim to have seen borini play and are unimpressed......he's no messi, but the lad is class and brendan has seen a LOT of him....i cant abide those who spout negativity, these are the classless people.
supporting is exactly that, SUPPORT the Club, SUPPORT the Players, SUPPORT the Manager AND his decisions/choices/philosophy

welshred9

"...and we have a limited budget probably, but this is Liverpool for gods sake"

This ain't your daddy's Liverpool unfortunately. LFC is in a new reality so,
get used to it.

Borini, (not talented)?
I think Italy manager Prandelli might have to disagree with you there mate, as he was good enough to get into the Italian squad who got to the final?
The kid must have some talent to have been picked, do you not think????

People need to seriously back off the kid. I would trust BR judgment over anyone on this site.
Granted he isnt a household name but how does that guarantee he will be quality? If he signs (and thats no way certain) then just get behind the lad like supporters do and give him the best chance of success.
Remember a certain Lucas Leiva... how much did we miss him last year...?
Borini has my backing all the way if he signs. same as Carroll, Downing, Adam etc

@ reply no.7

Why do you start your post with "we" have a limited budget and then half way through state "them", "they" and "they're"? I suspect that you're on the wrong site and are just putting your little stirring paddle into the water.

Good morning eds,or other time of day depending on when you read this.Sly news reporting we're in for Callejon any proof or just making up news on their part.Keep up the good work {Ed002's Note - Perhaps recycled news. I don't know of any serious interest in Callejon although a number of clubs have apparently enquired as to his availability. I don't see him being made available.}

hi eds all reds just seen on ssn rumours about andy carroll maybe going to west ham utd on loan. reasons , suits there style , still very good friends with kevin nolan. what do you think? personally dont want him to go , thought hes been looking very good, and for him , i think it would be a backward step. and then who do we sign to replace him?. godbless 96 all reds. steviep62.

We would need a very good replacement, not just Borini. If the 15 million rumour is true i would be very annoyed. I think Carroll could be class in a season or two.

Load of rubbish, everyones just saying it cause BR said Andy knows where he stands, which could mean he's part of his plans, also i read somewhere last night that Carroll had said he'd rather fight for his place that go on loan.

Just heard from a genuine source that Alvaro Negredo (spain) will sign for LFC today or tomorrow.He seems to be the 'exciting player' Rodgers is referring to. Your opinion Eds.. {Ed002's Note - Negredo was offered to Chelsea last year but I understand not for sale right now. That could change if a high bid is made and there seems to be some interest from Malaga.}

So there's no bid but he may sign today/tomorrow, have a word mate!
paul the red

Naah, not Negredo, Borini will sign for us.

SUMON VAI

Dont want him, he's not that good. Was awful in Euro 2012.

Exciting? Did you see him at Euro 2012, Spain would rather have no strikers than him up front, what does that tell you?

This guy is a donkey , didn't you watch the Euros , better players in Sefton Park !!

Commentators couldn't contain their negativity against him when he started in the euros vs Portugal...made Carroll look like a world class striker

i have to say this andy carrol to west ham on loan talk has to be made up! why why why would we let our 35 mil striker go, when both bellamy and suarez is at the olympics and kuyt gone carrol is our only striker! he was unplayable towards the end of the season and it will be a great shock if we let him go, ok so we may have borini but we dont no if he will fit straight in or dempsey who is excellent at fulham bacause he is there main man! he joins us and could just slip away! dont let carrol go.

Lol 35m striker? More like 8m worth striker there is a reason only a promoted side and Norwich are keen on him....unplayable towards the last end? What rubbish {Ed049's Note - I guess you missed the last 4-5 games then.}

I still believe this is an attempt by Rodgers to give Carroll a kick up the backside before the start of the season. We need Carroll to start next season in the same form he finished last season and Rodgers is giving him a warning.

I fully expect Carroll to stay and expect him to really put the effort in when he returns to the club.

JRG

Rodgers is clueless he wants to loan out a forward when we need all the forwards we can get. He thinks fans will get excited about borini well i doubt that.

My friend, it is more than possible that Carroll leaves. I don't think it's made up tbh. I saw it in ESPNsoccernet & I don't remember the last time I saw them post made up stories. Besides, Carroll simply won't fit into BR's style of play. I think it would be good for Liverpool to let him go.

SUMON VAI

If Rodgers lets carrol go on loan then he is thick.

Perhaps it's because he doesn't fit into BR style of play and no club will pay more than £10m for him. Liverpool will loan him out and hope his valuation goes up a little so they can get some money back for him when they sell? I would say WHU is about his level.

Disney!

This is made up, not saying that West Ham would not enquire but TalkSh*te are really playing the BR wants to get rid of Andy card. I may be wrong but BR said that he would give the players a few weeks to learn about them and then make a decission. He said the same about Andy when directly questioned on him. When asked about luis a few weeks ago he said that he would be staying. They have put 2 and two and got 87, why is that. Andy is with the squad for preseason so he is exactly the same as almost all other players, Suarez is not there for preseason, he is at the Olympics, hence the different response. If BR was asked about Coates I would have expected the same response that Suarez got and if asked about Stevie I would have expected the same response that Andy got.

Every time I hear TalkSh*te talking about Andy leaving it makes my blood boil. Only last month I had United fans saying to me that Andy should start in front of Rooney. Why should we get rid of him if he has even United fans saying that. Utter media crap.

It's true he played better towards the end of last season so now is the right time to generate interest in Carroll with smokescreens about loaning him out. ( don't you lot know anything about business) Rodgers is hoping someone somewhere hopefully more than one will take the bait and make an offer and compete for his signature. " Watch this space; he will be sold"
kidmillions

Not BRs style, but would you have considered was Danny Graham and he actually bought him. We do not have sufficient talent to go exclusively to a style of play over night, variety is the spice of life and I think Carroll does interest hammers but I don't think Carroll or BR will be interested really because he has worked very hard in the last few months and will I am sure impress Rodgers enough. Also as has been pointed out, only striker at the club at the start of the season who has played with the team. BR will know losing ground immediately will hamper his progress with the fans very quickly

Pr1ck an offer does not mean that they have got him?!
and who says that we wont buy any players?

I don't see why Buck would make a decision to loan/sell the big yin before he's even seen him train. AC might take to his style/methods like a flying salmon to water with the right motivation (who knows maybe this is the right motivation).

I just think unsettling players with talk of loans/sales (fair enough BR didn't come out and say i'm definitely looking to get shot of AC but he skirted the issue in the presser and the papers have run wild with it as a result) is harsh before they're even given the chance to impress. Why isn't there talk of old 0 goals, 0 assists Downing going if everyone's being pre-judged? The wind got more assists than him last season for gawd's sakes (Tim Howard's goal). Carroll did more than him and some others last season - admittedly it was a poor start for him but he looked an absolute beast towards the end and i think if Roy had shown some back bone and started him and Welbeck against Italy instead of caving in and starting that useless lummox Rooney we might have got through (or at least shown a bit more passion).

Anyways, enough of this ranting - I'm super excited about Brendan - he's been a class act in all other aspects and it was great to hear Shelvey saying that the training's all about passing and that everyone's encouraged to play football instead of just distance running. Exciting times ahead methinks.

Professor Frank

Yeah let big sam go and get a player of his best buddy purple nose.

If BR sticks with Carroll up front he'll get a ticket to Boston in the post by the end of the season. If he wants to implement his system, he has to bring in players that will work to the systems strengths. Carroll will be a good player for Stoke, West Ham or one of those teams, just not for a brendon rodger's liverpool side.

Big Andy did not become rubbish overnight when he left Newcastle and he'll come good again. He was seriously lacking in confidence last season and I'm really glad he showed a bit of form at the end of the season. (Don't forget - he did more damage in 20 minutes against Chelsea at Wembley than Barca, Messi and all, managed in 2 whole games!) I kept forgetting just how young he is until I saw him getting interviewed on TV - he's just a big shy laddie and he needs a serious confidence boost. I reckon BR thinks talk of a couple of seasons at AC Milan would give him that boost and that's why he's been happy to let that chat go. Unfortunately the press, cos we're fair game these last few years, change that to a permanent move to cut our losses or a loan to a lesser team (no disrespect Hammers) and we're all panicking. We've gotta trust Brendan. He knows his stuff and I think that means that Andy is going nowhere.

Morning eds, what are the chances of jordy classie? Is there any interest at all and what would he cost? He is a class act (excuse the pun) it doesn't seem that he will cost too much either but in a few seasons I believe his value will treble at least. Iv tried the search function but my phone doesn't seem to agree with it for some strange reason. Also any chance of a player profile on him? Thanks in advance for you reply.  {Ed002's Note - No, I really don't see him as an option.}

No chance of him in this window, been told that our scouts are keeping an eye on him though for january.

11 Jul 2012 00:07:41
Hey ed's! The mirror claims that Bellers is on the verge of joining Cardiff, do you know if that is true? Scouserseb {Ed049's Note - There are rumors going around, not sure myself.}

When asked about bellamy in the press conference he said that he talked with him good talk bla bla bla.and then went on to say he turns 33 this week id say bellamy might want to wind down now career wise and rodgers training sessions will be probably intense and in games he will be expected to keep moving (pass and move)throughout the game that might not suit.

Charlie Adam on his way to Newcastle according to rumours from within his family in Dundee.

Good! overrated rubbish! thanks big ol' red nose for pushing the price up!

Good, he was crap last season. Hope he goes ASAP.

Unless that deal involves Yohann Cabaye coming.te other way and some cash going to them. Or better yet, some cash and Adam for Tiote and Cabaye, its not believable.....

I think if Andy goes Charlie will go too. Charlie was mainly signed to provide assists to Andy. Obviously didn't work as planned

I hope so, he can take his turning circle of a barge with him

Adam is underated

Before Gerrards return in Decemeber/January Adam was a regular and we were battering teams. Only poor strikers stopped us from being in top three. On Gerrards return, Adam was dropped and we were much less of a team. Lucas injury played a part, but I feel Adam was unjustly dropped and then had his confidence knocked. Gerrard was poor for the most part. Hence our second half season relegation form. Just a thought.

All the armchair experts on here! Charlie Adam played well in the early part of last season. Short memories or perhaps they don't actually watch the games?
kidmillions

Charlie adam is from glasgow and so is his family

Turning circle of a barge is perfect way to describe him that was my biggest complaint on adam so slow to turn rivals midfielders were all over him like the chicken pox my friends did not agree they kept saying he has a great pass my god carra does the long ball with accuracy or at least did wen he played....with ease i might add.turns like barge .WELL PLAYED SIR.redness

Too slow, dwells on the ball, overrated, and happy to be seen out drinking before games.

He took all the pens, corners and free kicks at Blackpool so looked the part.

I for one, a kopite, would be most happy to see him leave.

Missed penalty, poor corner kicks, got himself set off agaisnt spurs, own goal (may be against blackburn), and clueless passes against Sunderland (away). However, I will remember him for the delightful pass to Johnson in the Chelsea match and nice diagonal cross to Andy against Wolves. Overall, did more damage than good. he was extremely hyped by the fans, the then manager and some corners of the media. hope he leaves. but Downing was worse than him last year to be honest.

I hope there is a canal route to Newcastle
from Anfield!
He aint mobile enough,reminds me of Le Tiss of Southampton.Good in a poor side,overwelmed in a good one(Playing for England).

I hope Adam leaves....never rated him....cabaye is top player and fitted straight into the PL. Possible swap ?

Another seriously lacking in confidence - not helped by the fact that too many so-called fans were happy to make him a scapegoat. The season before he ran Blackpool single-handedly and was the best dead ball expert in the league. I hope it's BR's style to put his arm around Charlie and a few others and build them up. We played well in the cups and against the 'big teams' last season but couldn't get motivated or froze against the wee teams. BR needs to sort that.

Can we get some clarity Eds. ?
Ed002 says there is interest in Dempsey, Ed016 says it's made up. {Ed001's Note - I believe there is interest too. I was told that Danny Murphy was asked about him, to find out what he was like in training etc.}

I hope we get him! We never get the players i want and ive wanted him at lfc for ages. KiwiRed

Is that Danny 'Roy is just the man you need guys' Murphy?

We will probably get him on a five year deal, get a year out of him then struggle trying to sell him for the next four years, id rather borini and keep carrol!

He is old and not really that good. I would rather buy Ramirez and forget the pair of these players.

I will also take borini and keep carroll. dont want dempsey.

The good thing about Dempsey is that he reliable and works hard for the team. Also, he definitely has the mental strength to continue his good form away from Craven Cottage. He would be a good buy at the right price.
