The Poacher

****Breaking News****

Ngog to Bolton done deal, the trotters have accepted our 5m (with add on) bid 2 secure his lack of services.

Jimbob {Ed033's Note - why would we bid for our own player?}

Wouldn't you pay to get rid of him?

I think it was a joke. Just my guess... Helped by the "lack of services" part..

Cumbrian Scouse

It would of been nice sweetener in the deal for Bolton. Liverpool pay them £5million to take our rubbish away

He forgot to put cahill in i thinkk :L

Get back to school you nut

if dann goes to arsenal and bolton want ngog would that make cahil to liverpool more likely eds your thoughts please {Ed033's Note - That deal could be considered but it is all speculation at the minute. Bolton have just signed Tuncay so would they want another forward?}

Ryan Shawcross ? who knows.

Tuncay is not really a forward though

Because their only strikers are Davies (34), Klasnic (also old) and now Tuncay. Think I'm missing someone else too, but he's no doubt awful. They need strikers...

IT WAS A SARCASTIC JOKE, they are paying us 3-5 million, wake up people

I think that they do need strikers. Coyle is clearly unconvinced by Klasnic, Tuncay is not an out and out goalscorer and Davies is past it. Never that good in the first place. There's a place for him. Also, to the shouting guy, sarcasm is difficult to convey in written word. And your joke was awful.

Rush

Klasnic has already been sold...

we will get enrique before the transfer window ends. Dann is surely going to Arsenal unless we put a bid in. If we put a bid in he would choose us because he's a scouser and he supported liverpool as a kid so that would sway him if its a 2 way battle. If we dont get dann its either cahill or mertesacker. ngog will be going for a swap deal and money for cahill.
-Also what are the chances of park chu young?

Where have you been? Enrique was confirmed on our official website today.

11 Aug 2011 22:30:41
Atleast if Enrique has any problems we havent splashed a silly sum on him, i think the lad will come good.

Real are using Liverpool to gain interest in players like Gago that are in my opinion not good enough, I wouldnt be suprised to see us linked with Lassana Diarra before long as Spurs already have for obvious reasons.

By the looks of things we may have chosen to pursu Cahill over Dann, if he joins Arsenal i cant blame him, for all he knows we may not bid for him and he'll be playing championship football rather than champions league for Arsenal.

Post on rumors please ed's

JP

Gago plays defensive midfield for Argentina (as you surely know) and has done well there lately. Can't see why he woulden't bee good enough. Personally I rate him and would choose him over Biglia.

-red norwegian-

Gago is a laughing stock by Madrid fans and they can't wait to see him gone.The guy has been on the market for how long,no european club has shown interest and he is suppose to be good for Livepool?Load of crap.If we want to sign another defensive midfielder we should go for Moussa Sissoko,and i don't see that happenning till we sell Poulsen & Raul.

@Red Norwegian do you mean Ever Banega ? I also think a few good games for your country doesnt make you a good player, he's never impressed me in a Real shirt the little i've seen of him.

We all know Real sign about 5 players every summer and 3 of those are gone the next summer anyway.

SSN reporting that bolton have made a bid for ngog, you know if this is true eds and if so how much?

ryanmc73 {Ed002's Note - The bid makes sense but I don't know how much it is for.}

Ssn saying its in the region of £4mil

hi ed, if n'gog goes to bolton do u think we will get park chu young?thanks {Ed002's Note - Perhaps.}
----------------------------------------------

What about Higuain, is he really a target?

-Jonathan. tnx(PS. Best lfc site ed's)

{Ed002's Note - Don't hold your breath over Higuain.}

I some what doubt that we would bring in another world class striker to be back up if I am honest, but you never know do you?

LFC Eaton

I'd be very happy with PCY tbh ;)

11 Aug 2011 21:58:20
Quesion for the eds/macca....

Pacheco, where does he stand at the moment, and do you think he will be cover as a 4th striker if ngog moves on?

Thanks lads

Ozred {Ed002's Note - At present I suspect he is looking for another club.}

Pacheco said on the liverpool site not that long ago that he wants to prove himself at anfield

I heard he has an attitude problem and he will be leaving for another club. Just what I heard. I rate him and want him to stay, he showed more promise when he was given a chance with spearing and IMO looked better than spearing did at that time. Shame there was no more opportunuties for him.

Gaz YNWA

There is a tendency to over rate players from the acedemy

Pacheco is over rated, he's very average. lf Kenny had more faith in him he would ahve played him more?

11 Aug 2011 21:31:34
hi ed, if n'gog goes to bolton do u think we will get park chu young?thanks {Ed002's Note - Perhaps.}

That would be a terrible move ngogs far better

R u joking PYC is by far better

11 Aug 2011 21:17:26
Given the noises tonight (not just from me) it seems that Arsenal have decided on Dann, we have decided on Cahill, and Bolton are interested in taking Ngog. Hopefully this runs smoothly and everybody's happy, especially Kenny.

11 Aug 2011 21:07:18
ed/eds please rate following rumours,thanks-vargos,elia,mata,gago,higuain,benioyoun {Ed002's Note - 1, 2, 2, 4, 1, 4}

11 Aug 2011 21:01:01
I think one of the Eds said earlier that we've been looking at defensive/holding midfielder's. If Gago like an earlier poster mentioned, i think it'd be good signing. If Lucas goes down we've got Spearing which in my opinion is alright for a few games but if its anything long term we need a quality player to take his place. Argentina were dire in the Copa until they dropped Bangera and Cambiasso for Gago and the other Lucas who plays in Belgium. Although Kun Aguero scored 2 in that game, it was Gago who stood out not just for his breaking up play but it seem he's picked up some top tips training with the great Xabi Alonso at Real. Composed on the ball and played quick and concise forward passes, that reminded me a bit of Alonso,not by his vision or long sweeping passes, but how quickly he moved the ball on, usually forward as well not just going side ways all the time.looked a different player to the one i'd seen before and not just because he'd had his hair cut. Anyhow in my opinion if were in the market for a Lucas style midfielder we could do a lot worse then Gago for 10 mil. Jonson6

Somehow I think with Lucas and Spearing in the defensive midfield role, and also Poulsen (shudder/think someone just walked over my grave), there may be other areas to strengthen first.

Personally I think Lucas could do with some quality competition in the DM role (not sure Spearing is that man), even if he is a superb trainer and great bloke there is nothing like competition to fire someone up.

11 Aug 2011 21:00:08
Ed, with reports that LFC can't afford dann at the moment then why are we buying enrique although at a decent 6million and letting dann a quailty CB that would benefit our defence more out of our grasps to arsenal when the lad would jump at the chance to join us? {Ed002's Note - Much will depend who leaves over the next couple of weeks.}

We dont have a experiance left back. Aurelio is too many injury , right back do a good job for us but left back is needed. Enreque is more attacking LB. and dont forget he have very good undastanding with Carrol so Enrique is going to be a very good player.

Reports ? ssn sources absolute tosh. it has nothing to do with affording a player. henry wants the wage bill down in line with the forthcoming regulations. it has nothing to with us being able to afford hil

Danny Wilson heading out on loan possibly back to Scotland...think he should be given a chance this season class young player...

I genuinely haven't been impressed with him, has some potential but seems to lack decisiveness and awareness. A loan would definitely suit all parties.

Papa G

Never seen him have a good game for liverpool

Dont see him goin on loan to rangers they have enough defensive cover and celtic is a no go

So far he's been said to be going on loan to 2 or 3 English clubs and now to Scotland. He'll be a busy lad

Ranger need a cb ..and Wilson is a Celtic fan...Think Celtic would consider him too daft not 2.. he is promising still only 19 needs to be playing regular .looked the part against Denmark can only get better..

No right foot, indecisive, slow, light weight and a bit of a ball watcher. A bad buy in my opinion. Off load as soon as possible.

How many times has he been played as a centre half for Liverpool? He's not and never has been a left back. As a Liverpudlian living in Glasgow, I can tell you he is a fine prospect. Was regarded as man of the match for Scotland vs Denmark. When he's been given a fair chance in the correct position, then form an opinion on him, eh? He's only 19 for f***'s sake.
Hingytherubberdingy

Really he's a celtic fan? interesting considering he joined liverpool from his boyhood club rangers

You have been playin to much football manager. He is good on that, but not proven in real life.

Sorry to be blunt, but he's not good enough for Liverpool.

Wilson does not look fit - looks tired early on in the game

He does not belong in a premiership winning team.

For the Liverpudlian living in Glasgow, you have only stated your opinion. But which clearly is wrong. The question is have you ever watched him play? We have and don't think he's good enough.

Why should he be given chances when there are other youngsters outperforming him? If he wants it, he needs to fight for it. Period.

He belongs in the same calibre as Ngog, El Zhar and Insua.

I'm forming my opinion on having watched him play a full season for Rangers, in which he was ever-present in the side (aged 18) and which won him his move to Liverpool. I believe Dalglish was instrumental in his being bought, but that was only based on Kenny's opinion.

You say you have seen him play for Liverpool, how often? and in which position? We had to use him at left-back due to injuries, this made him look poor, just like Skrtel lasted one game at right-back, because it is not his position.

He is young, he needs to go on loan to play games, he will come back the stronger for it.

These are my opinions, based on having watched him. The opinions of many pundits in Scotland are that he has immense potential. They are simply that: opinions.

P.S. "He does not belong in a Premiership winning team". All of our squad, after not winning the league for 20 years, have to prove that they belong in a "Premiership winning team".

Hingytherubberdingy.

Unfortunately liverpool are not a premiership winning team yet.
How can you put him in the same category as ngog when he is 19 and not been given a chance at CB

Ssn reporting that Liverpool will miss out on Dann to Arsenal, Liverpool are out of cash and have to sell if we want to buy anymore. Any truth Eds? {Ed009's Note - There is an onus on selling but I remain confident we will get a centre back before the end of the window.}

When sky say "according to sky sources", they mean twitter

Ngog plus cash-cahill?cant tell meireles or aqua wont raise substantial fees

It's not about being out of cash as we didn't have a budget. It's to do with the wage bill. Notice how we didn't move on Enrique until the Jovanovic deal was done.

We didn't go for Enrique cause we were waiting for a right moment.Remember we bided 7 or 8 mil for him,but Newcastle rejected it & demended almost twice as much.The same situation with Dann and Cahill,you just have to wait for the right moment since both their clubs are desperate to sell them.

They spouted the exact same rubbish when we were apparently about the 'lose out' on Enrique to Arsenal or Barcelona.

Martin

Out of cash? Are you seroius. We are certainly not out of cash. All we are doing is being responsible investors.

FSG is a sports investment company. If we do not invest wisely, taking into account the return on investment within a given timeline, then we would just become Citeh or Chavski splurging on anyone and everyone. It might have worked for the 2 clubs until now, but with the financial rules coming into play, they will not know what to do when they are required to act financially responsibly. Even if they were to win everything, they would still be in debt. We will never be in that place. Thank god.

FSG is a very very successful company and I am delighted that we finally have good investors in charge. They have already proven themselves in sports in USA and now they will do it here.

ed any truth about higiuan rumours or just speculation who ya think is most likely dann or cahill {Ed002's Note - Speculation. Arsenal and Liverpool will likely each get one of Cahill, Dann and Mertesacker.}

11 Aug 2011 19:27:40
I have a good source which suggests that Scott dann will be at melwood for medical on Monday. I presume a deal will be reached with Birmingham between now and sunday.

Looks like arsenal bound

Yeap? he is chasing Stevie G for an autograph?

11 Aug 2011 19:25:15
Heard from an insider that Gary Cahill may sign next week.... may be wednesday but no sooner than that.. fee will be around 9 mil with Wilson going on loan as a cover and Owen Coyle also wants David Ngog..

The only reason we are not selling ngog is because the are not ready to offload cahill for less than 13-14mil.

The Urchin

The question is simple. is it a wish or is it real info?

Look mate it's not a wishing site is it? so why would i post a wish on a rumour site? Even then if i had to wish i'd wish for a much better player than cahill.

I dont mean to be rude to you mate but this deal is probably going happen if bolton want Ngog and if they dont sign wright philliphs.

The Urchin

11 Aug 2011 19:15:59
eds, Have you heard of any "Actual" bid for higuain? or just more stupid rumours. {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

No news even in marca (more or less the real madrid newspaper)

Daft rumours ild say,but hope wrong

No rumour is stupid rumour. its kind of talk people hear from some wear and they shear it. it is possible as I read Higiain say he is fed up to hear it he is in transfer list.

11 Aug 2011 17:18:06
eds you hear anything about higauin and do you think we will get dann {Ed009's Note - Higuain will not be joining. As I have said many times, we will get one of Dann, Cahill and Mertesacker. Dann perhaps remains the most likely, unless Arsenal steal in.}

11 Aug 2011 18:05:19
as i told use abount enrique yest i have more info 4 use, we will sign cahill but not until next week with ngog goin in the other direction permantley and them also taking wilson on loan for the season. that will be the end of business, then 2 get afew off the wage bill(poulson,el zhar,insua and maybe cole) aqua 2 but only if we get £12m at least 4 him...

All true,but hope not endve business

Bolton just signed tuncay though

Oh my, you can regurgitate the papers for the hundredth time. Insider.

11 Aug 2011 17:58:24
I've seen on the LFCTV website and heard from a few other fans, that we're interested in signing Real Madrid's Gago. Surely we don't need another CM??

Could you shed any light on this rumour please

Red James. (ps. top site)

I would imagine there are two factors to consider in this story.

1) Gago needs a new club
2) We've been splashing the cash like there's no tomorrow

I wouldn't read anything into it more than 'This is a large dollop of Man Utd'

TSP

Or you can read in it that Real Madrid are trying to sale a player and spread fake info

11 Aug 2011 17:47:26
Rumours are in that Liverpool are tabling a bid of 10 million + David N'gog for Bolton's centre half, Gary Cahill. Hope this is true

SGred.

I would give up Ngog and 10 mil in a hearbeat no way they go for that deal

Cracking player,hope so.next centre half,right winger,striker.and i honestly believe=title

11 Aug 2011 17:38:19
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but it would all be repeats of what other people have posted regarding Dann/Cahill/Enrique so there wasn't a lot of point.

From what I can gather the deal for Enrique looks to be around £6.2M. There will be add ons of course too. He is at Anfield completing his medical right now.

Thanks, James.

Medical at anfield? Wouldn't it be melwood? Haha. Pics of it on LFC site mate.

Sorry yeah, thats what I meat. I blame the extra long day at work for that error.

Thanks, James.

*meant.

... Just to add to my point before.

Thanks, James.

11 Aug 2011 17:01:53
Jose Enrique and Gary Cahill look to be Liverpools final signings for the summer. Arsenal have given up on Gary Cahill as he is destined for Liverpool. Scott Dann looks set to sign for then Gunners. Also Liverpool are still interested in bringing in 1 more player who that is is beyond me but I assume it will be an attackive type player, could there be int truth in the Juan Mata rumours? Do you believe Gary Cahill will sign ed?

Daniel Hanwell

Yeap agree abuut both defenders.really hope mata true.wont be far off then

11 Aug 2011 16:51:58
Ed,

Heard from Supersports now that Dann and Arsenal are already in for prelimnary talks. How true is this?

O'seunfunmi (Anfield Red) {Ed001's Note - they have spoken to Brum.}

Before every moans we have missed out on him if kenny real wanted him the board would give him the money to buy him

I just hope we can scupper the preliminary talks and get Dann to Anfield

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Ed do you think if they get dann we will get cahill?

ste liverpool

11 Aug 2011 17:14:55
Just a quick question to any of the eds:
Except for the CB position, does any of you expect another attacking player to be brought in? I'm not asking for a name, just a gut feeling (or more) on your part. Keep up the good work.

Canadian Fan {Ed033's Note - I don't think so mate. If suitors are found for the likes of Cole, Aquilani, Mereiles and Pouslson are found then maybe but at this point in time it is the least of Kenny's worries. Kuyt, Suarez and Carroll are deemed first team strikers, with N'gog viewed as surplus to requirements. If we bring in a centre back I would presume that would wrap the summer up perfectly}

Ed who do rate more dann cahill shawcrosso or mertesacker {Ed001's Note - Dann by a long way.}

If the ed is correct and the players mentoined are moved on i personally would expect more attack minded players ...dont forget we went after the ipswich forward , so if the deal is right for lfc then kenny and the owners will sanction it

kopace

Hope wrong.every club at top,needs x4 top strikers

11 Aug 2011 16:26:59
rumour floating around that lfc bid of 25m for higauin has been rejected.

not sure i believe it but just passing it on.

looking forward to saturday

red snake

Would love to get him

I think 20 million is enough for higuain, dont get me twisted he is such a outstanding forward but considering his latest injury and lack of game time on the pitch 25 million should not of been rejected.

11 Aug 2011 19:13:38
This is where it came from.

www.fichajes.com/premier-league/fichajes/el-real-madrid-rechazo-25-meur-por-gonzalo-higuain_34502

Yeah but whos twitter. I can't see myself either but if it's on mata's twitter then I might change my mind but if it's just ransoms on twitter then assume it's lies made up to catch the gullible

I can see it, Mata will come

When the mata rumours going stop he not coming to liverpool so stop saying he is everyday you plank

True but its on arsenals gossip page also

RealMadrid # # received an offer from Liverpool for Gonzalo Higuain were € 25M were rejected

Do you think they'll come in with an other bid and how much

Lol damm thats Higuain,Aguero,Sanchez we have missed out on what we gunna do

Real Madrid Official News says a bid of 25 million from AS Roma has been rejected.

11 Aug 2011 15:51:42
Swap deal on the cards between us and fiorentina aquaman for jovetic , we made enquires for him last year according to his agent before he got injured for the seaaon , he can play anywere in attack. This deal will only happen if the montilivo deal goes thru to milan

If that happen that will be dreat, Like to see Jovetic in Red. will be on fire along side Suarez

Well lets hope milan deal goes through then

Been out for a season with cruciate ligament rebuild. Would be a punt.

11 Aug 2011 15:27:15
Ex Liverpool keeper Sander Westerveld joined South African club Ajax Cape Town on a 2 year deal

11 Aug 2011 15:14:59
Ed, has anything materialised with Ayala to Swansea. Will LFC sell or loan and if they sell will they insert a buy back clause to protect. Heard a 3.5M price bandied about yesterday and if we got that and 4.5 for N'gog then I think a 10M Dann bid would be imminent. What do you think?....................

Chi-Paul {Ed009's Note - I imagine that the player is considering his options. Swansea can of course offer him more money and a Premier League spot but he has more of a connection with Hull after his loan. I think that we will buy a centre back.}

£3.5 mill for Ayala? The highest estimate I've seen for him is £1 mill

Buy backs,something lfc should do more of.protects club in future,buying own talent back,at inflated fees

11 Aug 2011 15:14:10
Liverpool have tabled a bid for Gary Cahill, 10m + Ngog, and Danny Wilson going on loan.

Witto

If true fair enough deal all round i say

Let's be generous and throw in Shelvey on loan too.

Damm would rather dann

Sounds sensible but I doubt it will happen.

11 Aug 2011 15:07:13
stevie(Liverpool)

Liverpool have tabled a bid of £10M plus David Ngog for Bolton's Gary Cahill. Danny Wilson will also join on loan for the season.

Just wondering eds dose this make any sense to you guys
Barrett in the times saying there will be 1 more signing do any of you guys have any idea weather it will be a defender or a striker.great site keep up the good work. {Ed009's Note - I, and the other Ed's, have been saying for an awfully long time that a centre back will likely also sign. I would imagine it will be one of Cahill, Dann or perhaps even Mertesacker.}

Hope more than one.need oneve names you say.and more pace uptop

11 Aug 2011 15:05:59
Hi eds is there any truth to the benyaoun rumours? I heard he is free to choose between spurs and newcastle
Dan {Ed009's Note - I have heard nothing in that regard I am afraid, other than the fact that he is available.}

Why would we want him? hes old and were far from short of midfielders

And he reportedly slagged us,when got to chavski.plus didnt he have bad injury,shortly after leaving?

11 Aug 2011 14:10:05
Tony Barrett from the Times says he is expecting at least 1 more signing after Enrique

Centre-back is most likely. Any more i reckon will depend on people moving on.

RedSG

I believe this is correct (centerback) unless Bolton up there bid for ngog, we will then look for another foward

Darwin YNWA

Gary cahill and park chu young hopefully and hopefully a right winger

Didnt he say there would be no more signings after the last lot until we got rid of deadwood, well noones left apart from Jovanavic..just goes to show journos know nothing

Could be a striker but i think kenny is more than happy with kuyt playing upfront if something would happen to suarez or Carrol but i personally want cahill hes a class act and great professional

I think if we sell ngog then we will sign two more..

Razor Ruddock you heard it hear first

Hope hes wrong.3more reqd in my view.centre half,wide right,and defo upfront

^^i agee hopefully gary cahill, a good right winger like a.johnson or hazzard and park chu young

11 Aug 2011 13:51:07
I understand that olympiakos have been thrown out of the Europa league and Liverpool have been put on alert to play Paris st germain in the qualifier. Ed's have you heard anything, also any news on Adam Johnson signing for us {Ed009's Note - I have not heard anything on the first point. Adam Johnson remains very unlikely.}

On uefa website they have officially been thrown out but no clue to a replacement

Olympiakos can appeal, also it's far more likely that PSG will get a bye into the competition.

Sydney!

It's partly true.. Olympiakos Volou have indeed been thrown out of the Europa league, with 3 years further ban for match fixing. UEFA website doesn't say who will replace them, decision still to be made.

Why would we get the place? Surely PSG would just get a pass to the next round.

Phil

I have just found the story on fourfourtwo.com and if true i have no idea who PSG will face instead

Olympiakos Volos have been banned for 5 years by UEFA, but they will appeal. If their appeal is turned down, UEFA will look for a team to replace May or may not be LFC

Google Olympiakos and Europa nd you will find that they were kicked out because of a role in a match fixing scandal and were deducted points as disciplinary action, which within the europa rules gets them a 3 year ban and exclusion from this year. Doesn't necessarily mean Liverpool is in line, and the appeals haven't started.

Psg will get will automatically qualify

Surely it would mean a team from the Super League (Greece) will replace them or maybe Differdange who they beat in the previos round. Why wpild Liverpool have anything to do with replacing them ?

MickQ

Olympiakos Volos have had to play two qualifying rounds to get to where they are at the moment so i would think the side they beat in the last round would get the chance to play PSG

Surely the next-in-line greek team would take its place?

Surely they will have to enter a team from the Greek league. Would be the only fair option in my view.

Rather we dint go in it anyway waste of energy for the players and staff

LFC#1

Wouldn't be a fan of us being in the europa league this year. its a nothing competion. not worth risking not getting champions league for

This cannot be true. Whichever team finished after Olympiakos will replace them imo

Aris will be replace the spot not Liverpool.

Could someone please explain to me why PSG will automatically qualify rather than it go to a qualifier? and wont there be other 6th place teams in other leagues who will stand an equal chance to us? Sorry for my ignorance, I closely follow EPL business, not so much Europe :-(

I dont know for certain, but I would assume the spot would go to the next greek team maybe, i dont see PSG getting a bye, but dont see why we would be the replacement, only way we would be is if Brum go into admin, think thats correct? :

European football would be god but there is no way we would get it. It will go to someone in the Q' round already. Personally I prefer Saturday league games so no thanks - we did not qualify.

Just goes to show what many Liverpool fans think of the Europa league, at least 15 replies and no one thought it would be great, exciting, etc. Number 19 is en route

Volos knocked out the luxembourgish team of Differdange in the first round. It is now hoped here in Luxembourg that Differdange might get the chance to play against PSG

I think it would be good. Nobody complained about the Europa league equivalent when we were winning it. It is not the CL but it is another door to the CL.

Why in gods name would we get the spot? Only 2 options would be a spot goin to another Greek team or PSG getting a bye into nxt round. I wouldnt want Europa league anyway and certainly not by default

Obviously the spot will go to the team the beat in the last qualifier not us.. although you fans who don’t want us in that compition I say wtf kind of fans don’t want to see their team win in European compition Grow up lads. If we can’t get top 4 while playing in the Europa league we don’t deserve a top 4 spot and what will we do the following season say the FA cup isn’t good enough for our team... sounds like Fergie is disguise to me..

Quigz23

Given that there have already been 2 rounds of the Europa League, and Olympiakos played in both of them, a new team cannot enter (I would imagine, it would not be fair to the two teams already knocked out). So it would either be the team that was knocked out in the previous round or PSG get a bye. If there was anything suspicious about the Differdange game, then they might get the chance to go through. As it stands, likeliest scenario is PSG just get a bye.

TSP {Ed002's Note - Whatever the solution is, it does not involve Liverpool.}

Liverpool confirm they have agreed a deal for enrique, now on the offical site for those panicking about it.

Have faith reds, the eds have never let us down regarding anything and if situations change around transfers eg marveaux they have always explained to their knowledge why.

Cheers,

Hi all,

Got some news for you all on ins and outs.

Right well I have been told that Aquilani, Meireles, Cole, Poulsen, Jovanovic, Ngog, Insua, Degen and El Zhar are all wanted off the wage bill. If we succeed in selling most of them, we will move for:

Yossi Benayoun (never wanted to leave, hated Rafa)
Scott Dann (in negotiations with BCFC)
Jose Enrique (fee has been agreed)

--------------------------------------

This is what I said on Thursday... No I didnt sign it off because I couldnt think of a name.

Jovanovic, Ayala, Konchesky, Mavinga have gone. Cole, Insua, Degen and El zhar are certain departures. {Ed009's Note - Just use your first name as a name if needs be?}

-----------------------------------

Fair enough. Also we are interested in Cahill but the price is putting us off... Arsenal are in for Dann and Cahill like ourselves so whoever gets one gets the other. If Arsenal close in on Dann (which I doubt as Dann wants to move here), then expect quick movement from Kenny as he likes him a lot. Even if we havent sold the deadwood.

RM

Arsenal will need to move quickly if they are in for Dann as the original post claims he is in negotiations with Bradford City? ;0)

MUSHROOM

I think its rgt to sell those players u mentioned n buy a new striker

'whoever gets one gets the other' - so they come as a pair? I think it should be 'one team will get one player and the other team will be left to get the other player'.

I said this after your first post- what part was unique or grounbrwaking news Everything you said has been talked about online for months. Only unusual point is yossi and I'll put a 20 quid wager he does not join us

Nice attempt to re-write history - Benayoun never wanted to leave, hated Rafa. Benitez was sacked a month before Benayoun signed for Chelsea.
Red Steve

Hope yossi type comes in.but not yossi,if you understand,lol

The agreement for Yossi to be sold was done before rafa left

Enrique deal confirmed.

11 Aug 2011 13:07:53
liverpool to sign stefan jovetic of fiorentina for around 18m

No, hes got massive injury problems

For an injuried player? - never gonna happend

Be a good signing as he can play striker or either wing but i doubt happen myself we havent got funds unless sell and aqua man is staying.

Hes only worth about 9 mill aswell so this is a load of my ar*e

No way. Our last deal is Enrique.

Has same continual injury to knee as Hargreaves apparently

^^ it is not if we sell we could see at least another one or two coming in

Jovetic - 8 goals in 58 matches for Fiorentina, and the whole of last season out with a knee injury. Sounds like a bargain for 18 million.

11 Aug 2011 13:04:23
hi ed's, any idea what fee Enrique deal would be some are reporting as low as 5.5m and others up to 12m? cheers Lee YNWA {Ed009's Note - Around six million I have heard.}

Can we have a seperate page for enrique please? i am sick reading the same question. What is the price paid?

It's 6m pounds What a bargain

Didn't realise anyone else had already enquired about price the is nothing on rumours page, if you dont like reading it you could always find another site, people are interested in the deal and with so many conflicting prices been thrown about the ed's are a safe bet with info they have so makes sense to ask??

That's a bargain IMO

Jose Enrique deal to be confirmed earliest late afternoon today latest tomorrow, He will wear the vacant number 3 shirt he currently occupies at Newcastle.

SSN & KopTalk reporting Enrique has signed for around £10million.

SSN are saying between £5.5/£6m

atlfc70

Duno where you got 10 million from koptalk coz i'm a memeber and cant see it anywhere..i believe it said 6.2...

Koptalk have said 6.2

Ssn say its around 6 mil not 10 get it right

10 MILLION clichy who is better was only 7 million for city {Ed009's Note - Clichy is (a) not better and (b) cost one million more - Enrique will likely be around 6 million.}

Its actually been reported 6 - 5.5 mil

Is that all? I was expecting a £35m bid. Big Mike will be laughing all the way to the bank. £45m+ for Carroll & Enrique. Both could have been bought a year earlier for less than £4.5m.

Sydney ;) {Ed009's Note - It isn't ten million Sydney.}

Enrique has a year left on his contract and he won't sign another so he will go for less than hes worth

£5.5 MILL - £6 MILL NOT £10 MILLION.

'Ed009'

I know mate, just going fishing.

Sydney ;) {Ed009's Note - you'll catch a few whoppers here mate.}

@Sydney carrol is now showing why hes worth 35m he is still young aswell and he is starting to adapt to the liverpool team which is showing with the goals recently and his performances and is a defenders worst nightmere

Nahh 2nd worst mate ;) suarez is 1st

Carrolls a good player its just in the shadow of suarez

I think we should judge at the end of the season whether or not Carroll is worth £35m

He signed for 6 millon 10 bit to much for a deffender they must get dann aswell

Carroll does need to be judged at the end of the season along with the rest of the team however don't forget that the £35m price tag is irrelevant as it was always about getting £15m more from the Torres sale. Torres isn't worth £35 right now, its all relative.

11 Aug 2011 12:36:03
ed nobody is mentioning Ryan Shawcross. Could he be a sneaky back up if we don't get Dann/Chaill. After all Stoke are loaded in the centre of defence now {Ed009's Note - Perhaps, but I doubt it. He is not really good enough.}

2010/11 FA Cup Semi Final :

Cahill 0 Shawcross 5 {Ed009's Note - I forgot it was a one on one.}

He is nowhere near good enough for liverpool, skrtel, agger and even wilson is better than him, cant beleive liverpool fans r even mentioning a his name for a possible transfer, awfull player unbelieveably overated garry cahill is the only defender we have been linked with who i would have and is better than any other CB we have got (eccept jamie carra)

I was speaking to a staunch Stoke fan earlier and asked him about Shawcross. He said he's very well thought of as a no-nonsense, good in the air defender who needs to go to a bigger Club. All the fans there believe he is wrongly being labeled "a hoofer" because that's how he is told to play at Stoke and that the time is right for a move to a better Club.
ANFIELDPETE

He is too clubsey and gives away too many fouls overated in my opinion

I hear what your saying ed I don't think the 3 defenders we are after are good enough for Liverpool either (dann cahill enrique) I hope i'm proved wrong

He is on FM 2011

Jon

Shawcross has a horrible disciplinary record with way too many yellow and red cards

11 Aug 2011 12:32:55
Ed with arsenal reportedly putting an offer in for Dann, do you think we MIGHT put an offer in for Cahill. {Ed009's Note - Yes, there is a fair chance of that.}

We could offer NGOG as a swop and cash. I know Coyle likes him.

11 Aug 2011 12:15:47
Eds whats up with the Enrique deal. How come liverpol have t confirmed it on the website when other sites seem to have {Ed009's Note - The official site would never confirm a transfer before it is 100% completed.}

Ed, usually they confirm when a fee has been agreed or when they pass a medical and then when the deal has been completed. Does this mean that the fee has not been properly agreed yet? {Ed001's Note - they have done.}

Have a look at the website again guys it been confirmed on there that we have agreed a fee for him

Its on there now tough

11 Aug 2011 12:09:32
Enrique on way for medical now

I thought the deal was already complete?

11 Aug 2011 11:51:17
Newcastle full-back Jose Enrique is expected to undergo a medical at Liverpool later today after the two clubs agreed a fee.
It's understood the Reds have had a bid of around £6million accepted for the 25-year-old Spaniard with the saga over his future finally approaching a climax.

11 Aug 2011 11:19:38
Ed, with Tottenham's game called of, do you think there is any chance that the game at Anfield will be off too. Smithy {Ed002's Note - Perhaps.}

Everton's game at spurs is off ,that means after all results at the weekend this will be everton's best start to the prem for 29 year's.

The reason that the tottenham game is off is because of the safety issues as there is damage near the stadium

11 Aug 2011 11:12:23
Hi Eds, with Dann talking to Arsenal and Enrique looking done, do you think Mertesacker will be offered for? cheers. Great news on a LB though :) {Ed002's Note - As I have said, I expect Arsenal and Liverpool to each have one of Cahill, Dann or Mertesacker.}

Please no Mertesacker guys so slow.

Yea it has to be gary cahill mertesaker isnt good enough dont know why people would want him.
DCG

I havent heard any major talks or mertesacker, hopefully its all juts a rumour cos hes available on a cheap, but why is this? Probably cos hes a not worth much, please get cahill

Peace.

I would of thought just by the signing that have already happend that it will between cahill and dann i would of thought just cus there english and played in the priemier league

Who says dann is talking to arsenal ? ssn understands etc ? take with a pinch of salt

Mertesacker isn't good enough ? a true showing of ignorance there. he is a class player and german international and the last time i looked germany were in pretty good shape, but then again they have the right idea on how to develop a national team

11 Aug 2011 10:58:48
Ed, gas the fee deffently been agreed for Enrique, or is it just stupid Twitter rumours again? Cheers {Ed002's Note - The answer is probably. But regardless of that, sufficient agreement seems to have been reached for a medical to be undertaken.}

So that I may enjoy your post in full , what is a '' deffently '' , please ?

Yip fee agreed around six million. Enrique to hav medical today

11 Aug 2011 10:57:49
Ed, could u sum up the enrique situation for me, is it a done deal or is it not? {Ed002's Note - It is not. As I understand matters, agreement has been reached for the player to have a medical. It is assumed that to do this the fee will have been agreed (but that is not strictly necessary). After the medical, personal terms will need to be agreed, contracts drawn up and signed. The player will then be registered with the FA and Premier League. Then it will be a "done deal".}

Whilst I agree it is not a done deal and I appreciate that the eds won't say so until it is. Everything is in place for it to take place. Fee of 5.5m agreed, personal terms, verbally and off the record, are agreed. Just a medical to complete then it's just the formalities as mentioned, fine tunung contract, signatures, Fa approval etc.

Aintree Red {Ed009's Note - I think that simply with regards to the deal being set up, you are correct Aintree.}

11 Aug 2011 10:54:52
Enrique set for medical today source ssn, not heard nothing on this sooner because newcastle an liverpool have agreed a confidentuality agreement so will be no official comment as of yet.
Skurks

Confidentiality agreement?? This has been the most publicised transfer in this transfer window, what would be the point?

Well thats what ssn understands that the to clubs have agreed so why ask me?

Spot the irony ? a confidentiality agreement and you know about it ? quite funny

Did'nt say i knew about it that is what ssn had stated an it was sky sources that found out about the deal somehow.

It was stated on ssn about the confidentiality agreement no irony not acting like i was in the know just letting people know what was said when the news broke this morning? Get a grip an stop slateing every one an macca and the eds they only putting information across at the best of there knoledge for us fans.

11 Aug 2011 10:51:34
SSN just broke the news enrique's having his medical. First again ED's/Macca

Congrats for braking the news first

Don't you mean Phil thompson who broke the news in January.EdO2 deserves some credit He said all summer that Enrique was our first choice, because we bid for him early on.Macca got it wrong he said we would not be buying a left back till January.He change is stance only recently, because it's been general Knowledge that talks where going on between clubs.I knew we would get him all along,because Cashley wouldn't let him go for nothing next season. Jiminy Cricket

Your not the first hahah

Phil thompson, then all the media, then every liverpool fan i think is the correct order.....macca got this seriously wrong again

Macca was way off this one ,but as football is a funny old game most is guess work anyway,lets see if anyone can guess are next signing now that should be interesting ed's

Does it matter who is wrong - who is right?

Just like to add that it was me that told you the deal would be agreed before 5pm on weds. check back to friday saturday.
Hulkman

11 Aug 2011 10:35:42
Just to confirm what others have said, Enrique is a done deal, medical pending. He is in Liverpool. Medical this afternoon. He will not play at the weekend.

Aintree Red

Heard the same thing :) LB sorted at last

RobLFC

Why isnt it on the official liverpool site that we have agreed a fee? {Ed002's Note - There is no way that the official site will announce a transfer before it is complete.}

As medicals seem to take two days to complete nowadays, don't see him making the squad for Saturday.

dmedly

My info is not from the club, it's from the horses mouth. He was out in Liverpool last night with 2 other Liverpool players. He is hoping to play next week, if selected.

Aintree Red

It would seem, looking at todays posts, that I was first to report todays medical. Before ssn. Unless I've missed one. :)

Aintree Red

No mate sorry it was me last friday. i told everyone that the deal would be agreed by wed at 5pm
Hulkman

I said I was first to report todays medical.
I think there was many more before you guessing it was going to take place over the last few months. It's been on the cards since Clichy turned us down and it was no secret we were after a left back, so anybody could do what you did and the chances are it would be right.

11 Aug 2011 10:21:20
Do u think we could gazump the deal for dann from arsenal we did with downing?

11 Aug 2011 10:14:05
Hi Eds

Arsenal in preliminary talks with birmingham about Dann, i know that doesnt mean a huge lot at this stage but lets hope they get him and the formula is then followed of him going to Arsenal, and Cahill to us...Do you concur? {Ed002's Note - I don't see that anything has changed. I still expect Liverpool and Arsenal to each get one of Cahill, Mertesacker and Dann.}

I want Mertesacker, tall, smart experienced and knows how to win. Part of german football which sure no how to do that Will go great Carroll at set pieces and will be a good pairing with Agger who is more of footballer where Mertesacker is more lets get it our of here.

11 Aug 2011 10:12:23

Hi Guys.
just a quick piece of info as im sure has been widely reported, but 'six crazy minutes' are reporting that the Enrique deal is done and Cahill will be not far behind. That will conclude our summers spending.
We will still accept offers for a number of players, those being Poulsen, Cole, Aquilani, Degen, El Zhar.
Thanks.

Scott Dann is going to Arsenal. Have we been to slow?

I am worried we have to, but Kenny is to clever to miss him if he wanted him.

If thats true we will be in a fantastic position to get back in champions league football

Hope not flair player of pace who can change games reqd

11 Aug 2011 10:01:03
This is getting silly. Newcastle still saying there has not been a bid for Enrique
Pardew says he will explain this afternoon.

CR

Probably means a suitable bid hasn't been received

11 Aug 2011 09:44:32
if city buy nasri do u think we might go for johnson thoughts eds rumours plz {Ed002's Note - I don't expect there to be a bid for Johnson this summer.}

Didn't Downing and Johnson share duties at Middlesbrough once ? Do they not play in the same position ? Are you suggesting we sell Downing or just going for strength in depth ?

They can both play on the wings only brought it up as we were linked with johnson before if man city bought a replacement

We will not buy another attacking player unless Ngog leaves

11 Aug 2011 09:39:53
Liverpool to complete the signing of Adam Johnson from Manchester City in the next few days, if not by the end of this week the beginning of next week. The Enrique deal will be done next week and there are still enquiries being made over Dann and Cahill, but KK insists that only one central defender is needed. There are also enquiries over the Hamburg forward/winger Eljero Elia being brought into Anfield to either play on the wing opposite Downing or alongside Suarez and Carroll. You heard it hear first, some of the reports from SSN and some from the German Press
YNWA

How do you know about A Johnson? i feel that this is you just getting your hopes up. I really can't see it myself.

Why on earhe do you think city would let johnson go anywhere youare deluded

Don't you think that James milner if he became available would be a better option for the right side

Actually i've been hearing for bloody weeks we are going to sign Johnson and I still don't believe it

All that post needed was a "news at 10" style BONG at the beginning.. I live it when people cleary make up there own news story. We will not bid for Johnson because he would be surplus to requirements, we do not have the prince of Saudi Arabia spending for us. BONG...

Myk

Hope so.winger wise=think elia more likely

11 Aug 2011 09:29:40
Hi eds - is it true about boltons improved offer for nGog ? And if so what's the fee ? Thanks {Ed002's Note - Bolton are certainly still interested. I don't know what the fee would be.}

Eds, IF nGog does go, do you think it likely that we will buy a back up striker before the window closes? It leaves us with 3 strikers including Dirk and to be honest, the lads in the reserves probably won't play at this level for Liverpool. We're still a bit light up front if we get an injury or two.
The Ronoc {Ed002's Note - Yes, I think there is a good chance.}

The improved offer for ngog is 4million,

Few news items for my fellow reds
1.Mata is going to arsenal problem was valencia was asking cash upfront arsenal will use fabregas funds for him.
2. Aqua situation is this with his recent performances for us and italy damian and kenny have decided to sell him in cash deal or keep him as a option in team.NO LOAN for now.
3. We need pace raw pace for me and kenny nows this also so I don't expect yossi return.

Liverpool will ask for cutiniho (spelling) in raul deal to inter.he solves 2 problems winger/forward.

Red indian

If it's pace we need I hope we can lure Lucas Moura over the pond during the winter window.

or to correct myself, I want Lucas Moura no matter what we need... he is worth whatever San Paulo asks for him {Ed002's Note - Sorry, but I am afraid this one won't be happening anytime soon.}

U sed mata is going to arsenal but the other week the bit in his contract made his price go from in the 20's million to like 50 million or something rediculous like that

Coutinho sucks man, we don't really need him, Inter isn't using him that much why would we..

Raw pace just for you?
I don't believe we have a winger/striker problem. If we did (or do), King Kenny and Holy Camolli would (or will) be all over it like a lamp shade.

Myk

Aquilani has come out and said he is happy to stay at Liverpool now. Is he staying now eds? {Ed002's Note - Refer to earlier answers please.}

Yes mate, he is staying, i took an interview with Kenny Dalglish and he has said that Aquilani will shun any more transfer talk of him going away..FACT..

according to a certain mr carragher and a mr barret the enrique deal done last night

mark m

The deal "in principal" may of been agreed last night but we won't see Enrique in a red shirt until the Geordies has signed a replacement. Just wish people would stop putting deadlines on when these things will happen

Ed what's your view on aqualani's comments post Italy game? Decided to stay or just keeping everything civil? Cheers in advance mate.
Lfcmatt {Ed002's Note - Liverpool are still happy to let the player go but are struggling to find anyone to take him. The rest of his statement to RAI was about awaiting an offer to come and needing to consider all offers. Fiorentina are not entirely out of the picture and did meet him when he arrived in Italy. Juventus and AC Milan are still considering their options. Obviously if they cannot sell, he has to stay in Liverpool. I still expect him to leave this summer.}

Ed - if Aquilani leaves will Liverpool try and replace him this window or will we stick with what we've got? Is there a possibility LFc will replace him with a striker such as Park chu Young? {Ed002's Note - There is a chance of a striker, such as PCY, moving to Anfield but it is not goining to be dependent on Aquilani leaving. I would guess that if both Aquilani and Meireles were to leave then the midfield may be looked at again.}

11 Aug 2011 08:47:35
Aquilani (80k), Meireles (40k), Maxi (65k) will stay.

Cole (90k), Degen (45k), El Zhar (30k), Poulsen (50k) will leave.

I stand by what I said on the 4th of August that Benayoun, Dann/Cahill and Enrique would sign. Check yourself.

No signature, how do we know you said it ? {Ed002's Note - You don't.}

Check what? You've no name.
Milamber

How the hell is el zhar on that much he is so poor

Bluffer you never said that your trying to take credit from macca.
DCG

Everyone and their dog has known about Enrique for weeks.No chance of Yossi coming back Dann talking to Arsenal but Cahill is possible as is Mertesecker.

Is it any wonder Meireles is looking for more money. Paid less than Deggen, Poulsen, less than half of Cole. He deserves a new contract. Good player.
The Ronoc

If those wages are correct no wonder Raul is p#ssed off.

Nasri's move to Man city should be done within the next few days and mancini has told milner and Johnson they can leave the club if they wish.

Dont even know why i'm posting this as i'm gonig to be slated for it anyhow we will have to wait and see what happens in the coming weeks.

YNWA
RobLFC

Not havin a dig roblfc was just thinking wouldnt mancini be wanting to keep as many of his top players to compete on all fronts or is your thinking that they'll be overloaded in those areas this is a genuine response and question to your post,i htink maybe by jan we'll have a clearer idea,kyb.

I agree with you totally..Johnson is a class act, seems to be abit out of favour at city tho seeing as there bring in nasri and they have silva and co..so i'm not sure whats going on at that club

RobLFC

I've said since last season Johnson would be amazing in a red shirt but just can't see it happening, not this summer at least anyhow. I think He'll stay at city for the mean time.

Hi Eds im taking my 9 yr old twin boys to their first game on sat, wots ur thoughts this morning of the game going ahead? They be devestated if these idiots have caused the game to be postponed {Ed029's Note - If the police can keep control like they did last night then hopefully it should go ahead

So we decided to wait two weeks so we could pay an extra £12mil

Hi everyone

First time I'm playing in the PL Fantasy League. Just 2 questions. If you choose 3 players from Liverpool and a player (Enrique) from another team, and he joins Liverpool. Do I have to change my team again before the deadline? Also, I chose Suarez in my team, is that a gamble, seeing that he has a yellow square next to his name. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for a great addictive site Eds

Liverpool to win the league I believe we can.

Zoula {Ed029's Note - You can change your team any time up until the first deadline which it should say on the site. I have also got Enrique and Suarez in my team. I think Suarez will play a part on saturday albeit possibly from the bench

I have Suarez in my team too but it says doubtful so i have put him on bench for the time being. If you're interested, you can join my League. The codes are:
Head-to-Head League: 125607-227826
Classic League : 125607-67405

Feel Free to join all LFC fans YNWA

Thanks for the reply Ed029.

Zoula

You will not be able to make future transfers if Enrique transfers to Liverpool & you then have 4 LFC players, until you get rid of 1 and get back to the maximum 3.

If Enrique joins, and you end up having 4 from Liverpool, then you should transfer one out. If you don't then one of the players will not score points. That will most probably be Enrique, even though I have not read that part of the rules. I am sure they have this information in there. Spend 5 minutes reading it.

Thanks for the replies.

Newcastle United full-back José Enrique is set to complete a move to Liverpool this week as Kenny Dalglish looks to bolster his defensive options.
The 25-year-old is set to agree terms with the Anfield club pending a medical, with the Spaniard expected to earn close to £60,000-a-week on Merseyside.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew was hoping to hold on to the player, however the growing turmoil at St James' Park has sparked the defender's exit for a fee believed to be in the region of £6m.

Enrique will be the fifth addition to the Reds' first-team squad this summer after the arrivals of Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam and Alexander Doni.

Liverpool are also believed to be stepping up their pursuit of Birmingham City's Scott Dann, though they may face stiff competition from Arsenal as Arsène Wenger looks to sure up his defensive options.

The London club may be confident of luring the 23-year-old to The Emirates but the fact that the centre-back, who was highly rated during his time in the Premier League, is a Merseyside native may work in favour of the Reds.

Meanwhile, Alberto Aquilani has suggested his future may lie on Merseyside despite his agent linking him with a number of Italian clubs.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who was sent out on loan to Juventus last season, believes he does have a future at Liverpool despite reports linking him with a move away from Anfield.

"I'm calm. People talk a lot of rubbish about me. It's not true that Liverpool aren't giving me a chance. I feel like they appreciate me," Aquilani said after scoring the winner in Italy's 2-1 friendly win over Spain in Bari.

"I'm at a big club, I'd love to stay and play. But the market closes on 31 August. We'll see."

WE LOVE Aquailani TO STAY...

Eds have we actually agreed a deal for enrique...not a big fan but willing to give him a chance {Ed029's Note - The signs from Newcastle are that it is only a matter of time before it is complete}

Juan Mata will sign for LFC costing them £32 millions (inside news)

Nothing will surprise me any more as we have seen over the last year

Still hanging on to Mata.......32m is absolutely ridiculous stop kidding yourself, nobody will buy it.

My inside source says we'll be signing a bengal tiger from the San Diego Zoo to play centre half. The tiger is well known in the states for its lockdown ability at discouraging opposition attacks. Vulnerable in the air though. The transfer may not fall within FIFA's Financial Fair Play rules, but so far the language is ambiguous and seems only to apply to transfers of human players. I'm not sold on the transfer but I trust in KK. ITK

If Mata goes anywhere it will be to Arsenal to replace Nasri.... and to be honest I don't care since we need to spend our money where it gives us most bang for the buck and that is on defenders.

Keep on telling the fairy stories to the kids because we don't believe them

He aint going to sign he will go to arsenal if he leaves to any premier league team. Unfortunatly. I would love him at lfc but just isn't going to happen.

He was kept very quiet on Saturday, I'm not to bothered, doubt he will be coming anywhere near the premiership this year.

No he won't because we don't need him and have not bid for him.

Jose Enrique to wear the number 3 shirt at Anfield after completing his £6m move to merseyside.

Cahill could sign in next few days, with a bid of £10mil plus ngog, plus coyle would like wilson and shelvey on loan In KK I trust Y..N..W..A. Bring on sunderland Thank ED's DHH L20 KOPITE

This'd be a great deal, Ngog, isnt going to be any more than a fringe player but Wilson & Shelvey have loads of potential and a year long loan would be of great benefit to the club and the players

Jose Enrique deal done 5.5 m i don't think he is good enough but in kk we trust

Tackle success - Evra 76% - Enrique 84% - Baines 74% - Clichy 81% - Cole 61%

1 on 1, Enrique's very hard to beat. Happened only 9 times last season, compared to A. Cole (38), Clichy (26), Baines (24), Evra (23).

Like the original poster, I have had my doubts about the quality of Enrique. In fairness, I only watched him play a few times last season and in each case the player in front of him wasn't the best so I'm sure that affected his performance. Downing could bring out the very best in him. I was concerned a few weeks ago when I heard £8mil quoted but £5.5mil sounds like a more reasonable amount for this player. Needless to say, if he signs, he'll get my full support and I'll be telling everyone that he's the best LB in the league...

Great stats above. I wasn't aware of these. Show just how poor Chelsea and Cashley were last season. What is you source poster?
The Ronoc

Why do everyone we buy get negative comments from our own? i love my club and know we NEED a experienced left back, do the people who say these things think we havent looked at the pro's and cons before buying enrique, negativity breeds negativity, go elsewhere and depress people we are on the up again, bob paisleys skids

Tony Barrett of the times saying that the Enrique deal is " closer than close" - eds I know this basically goes with macca's thoughts - could you share your thoughts?

Many Thanks

Jamie {Ed001's Note - it does seem to be the case, according to Newcastle anyway, Liverpool are still bloody hard work to get anything out of.}

My thought is weve bought the wrong man he is not good enough in my opinion, we have lacked a good left back for years and enrique is not any better than any of the recent ones if we want to challenge for the title we need better players than him

... But i hope he does well and change my opinion

Have to disagree with the above post, enrique is quality ive watched him at sj james the last 4 years and hes come on so much in that time its unreal, im GUTTED to see him go, easily the best left back weve had in my lifetime and dare i say it maybe the best in the prem last season. If your getting him for 6mil as is being reported you will soon see thats a bargain. For the record I only came on your club page to see if there was anything about Jose and sadly (for me) there was :( your getting a hell of a player. {Ed001's Note - so you don't think it is worrying that he is constantly caught out of position? When me nan was alive she used to wander round aimlessly, every time I watch Enrique play I am reminded of her. Still Kenny believes he can have positional sense coached into him and seeing the wonders worked with Johnson at left back last season I find it difficult to disagree with that!}

"liverpool hard work to get anything out of" Just as it should be back to a class act all round KK u da man

You been watching the right enrique ed? Hes rarely out of position hence why its rare players get past him, yes he makes mistakes but needless to say who doesnt, his strength is unreal, i think you may well be proved wrong when you see him at LFC, as for your nan i can only apologise and send her my best wishes.....
