Hey Ed,

Do you know of any interest from Liverpool for Ioannis Fetfatzidis of Olympiakos?

Cheers, MansfieldRED {Ed001's Note - no, sorry, not as far as I am aware anyway.}

I personally feel that:

*Villa would be an excellent option. I saw somebody suggest he only has 2-3 years left? On what basis? Do you even watch the lad? He is one of the best forwards in football history, and if Giggs can go till 37 so can Villa! He is also pepe reina's best friend and the godfather to his daughter.
Imo, (IF he has fallen out with Messi and does want to leave) Anything £30m or under would be an absolute steal.

*Keita is also fantastic, takes a world class player to make Barcelona's bench. He would give out midfield a bit more mobility and experience. Not sure what fee we'd be looking at, but Barca would probably do business at around £5m.

*Doumbia is a massively over hyped player, whom i personally would not like to see in a Liverpool shirt. £25m would probably be the asking fee. What does the Russian league prove? Its of a similar quality to the Dutch league... 3/4 good teams then a shocking amount of average teams to fill the league. Having said that, Suarez came from the dutch league and has been an absolute beast so...

*Chivu is perhaps a viable option if we only seek back up for our defence but if we were to buy him for our starting line-up, Jose Enrique/Kelly/Johnson would have good reason to feel aggrieved. I'm not a big fan. No idea what sort of fee he would command. A similar amount to Keita, maybe a tad less.

*Luuk De Jong has excellent potential in my opinion but is unproven, and not what we need in January if we wish to push on for the top 4. However if he were to still be available in the summer, I'd be willing to gamble on him. £12-14m is hefty sum to pay for a young player only proven in the dutch league in January though.

*Ryad Boudebouz is sensational. Would love to see this man in a Liverpool shirt. He works the right or left flanks brilliantly, but can drift into the middle with ease and by a deadly playmaker. Awesome potential. Commolli is definately a fan, and he may be available for as little as £8m.

*Eriksen is simply phenominal. Can't think of a midfielder who was as good as him at his age. Possibly not even Gerrard. With Agger his danish captain, and Saurez his old captain in our side, we might have a chance of convincing him, but i'm of a similar opinion to the Eds. He will more than likely end up in Spain or Italy, but should the chance arise to sign him, anything under £30 would suit me.

All said and done, we have been linked with some good targets this January. Some great young talent, some top quick fixes and some that even fit both these criteria. These are of course just rumours and my opinions of them, i'mnot claiming any sources! Some of these player (if we are interested) may have to wait till the summer anyway...

YNWA! (Adam)

Villa - never going to happen

Keita - another central midfielder who is ageing as well..? wouldn't be my choice

Doumbia - Looks promising but 25mil? Ridiculous fee

Chivu - well past it..

De Jong - a gamble... sometimes you have to though

Boudebouz - sweet player and would love to see him, depends how interested we are - could've got him in the summer and never made the move, might regret that later

Eriksen - stunning player but i'm convinced he is nailed on for Milan in the summer. If we got him would be a fantastic coup

SMc

Eriksen, has turned down chelsea and man city, the lad is unfortunately is a self confessed spurs fan and if they were to go head to head I can only sadly see one outcome.

No doubt Villa is an excellent player. And no doubt we will never spend close to 30 million on a 30 year old.

We spent 35 on a player with less than 30 pl games under his belt...

A mate of mine says that one of his 'sources' told him of a fair bit of interest in Podolski and Mertens. Do you know if this is true? If it is, how likely would it be that a bid would be made for Podolski and/or Mertens.
Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - I don't see any chance of Podolski going to a club where he cannot be sure of a starting place - it could well put his international career at risk. Spurs and Arsenal have shown an interest but I expect him to move to either to Turkey with Galatasary or possibly Russia with interest from several clubs. Assuming you mean Dries Mertens, I suspect that your friend has MOTD Fever.}

Solbakken (Köln's manager) will never sell him

Hey eds - any truth in the rumour that we are looking at michu?
Cheers {Ed002's Note - I expect that Michu is a player who has been watched by scouts of a number of clubs possibly including Liverpool but I think it most unlikely a January move is on for him to any club as he only arrived in Madrid this summer.

DC met with Sochaux's director on Saturday and talks are at an advanced stage for the signing of Ryad Boudebouz... He also scouted him that night... Boudebouz is fully aware of discussions between Comolli and their director.

Boudebouz and Doumbia are looking good atm... Things can change though, long way away from January.

RM

Don't know how reliable you are mate but i'd be happy with that in January

What about marvin martin

Not all my info is 100% right mate but I post in good faith and Im not trying to cause any wind ups... My source got the West Brom (which I posted on here), Man Utd and Everton teams right (Ive only known him since just before the Everton game) but got the Norwich line up wrong... So we'll just have to wait and see... Im just as hopeful as you are on seeing this info be true come the end of Jan.

I think some journo thought about the wrong seydou when they got "informed". thats why the keita rumors are about. wouldn't mind either though.

We're REALLY struggling to get 4th.
These look pretty uninspiring names to be linked with..

10 Nov 2011 17:11:47
hey eds i heard a rumour about moussa demble is this possible {Ed002's Note - It seems unlikely but not impossible.}

He is good, just as good a shout as luuk de jong

Hi Eds, speculation aside, what are the chances of Glen Johnson leaving in Jan/Summer?

if we dont start playing him in a RM position, we're better off with Kelly anyway who can get forward but also defend very well. a big lad and could be 1st choice for the next 10 years! plus flanno and robbo can both play either side, i see him as being surplus to requirements, and we could fetch 10m+ for him. what do you think? {Ed002's Note - He has been out injured for a while and has been getting a game since he has been fit. He will want to keep playing to assure his position in the England squad for next summer. Leaving in January seems unlikely to me but perhaps the summer.}

Johnson is betta than kelly just coz he aint scouse lets not start selling our betta players plz

Johnson is better than Kelly?? Have you ever actually been to a game?? Johnson is just awful.

To the first poster - i'm flattered, but i'm sadly not scouse!

Second poster - I wouldnt say Glen was awful, but Kelly is becoming a fantastic player - eg his u21s performance this week, and i was just making the point it might be worth cashin in whilst we still can!

Hi eds ryad boudebouz as been linked with us many times is it a possibilty we might sign him in the future? And in your opinion is he any good cant say i have watched many times?

Cheers
mighty reds {Ed002's Note - I am not going to comment on if he is any good. St-Etienne wanted the player to replace Dmitri Payet and Marseille, Lyon and Newcastle showed some interest over the summer. There was previous interest from Spurs and Liverpool and certainly both made tentative enquiries. This latest news of Liverpool interest could of course be simply a recycled story from the summer, but it is not beyond the realms of possibility.}

Last I heard was arsenal was intrested

Hey eds,
Is Ryad boudebouz a likely signing and is he good enough for liverpool? {Ed002's Note - I am not going to say whether Boudebouz is good enough or not but the club have looked at him before. Boudebouz has had a good season for Sochaux. St-Etienne wanted the player to replace Dmitri Payet and Marseille, Lyon and Newcastle showed some interest over the summer. There was previous interest from Spurs and Liverpool and certainly both made tentative enquiries. This latest news of Liverpool interest could of course be simply a recycled story from the summer, but it is not beyond the realms of possibility.}

I hope we definitely move for Erikson next summer. This kid is the absolute future, and is perfect for NESV- potential, young (20 next yr) and his value will soar. With Agger his danish team mate and captain, Suarez his former Ajax goal scoring partner, along with given the responsibility to replace a legend in Stevie, could make us a real attractive option next year. He's has so much creativity that we need for midfield but we'd have to get CL football this year though, cus he will become world class very soon.

He wants to play in Spain like Suarez, but also wants first team football, we could offer him that stepping stone and opportunity to improve his game. He's already turned down City, so he's looking (just like Suarez did) for a challenge to better himself. Value, £25m-£30m maybe? I could see NESV doing exactly that, spending big on young talent, an investment. His price will rocket after the Euro's however if we don't act fast, I think he could be a real possibility next year, and the best possible CM option. Thoughts?

RedChris

The only draw back is erikson's a spurs supporter and according to rumours would be his preference?

What do u mean by just like suarez did? did suarez turn down city too?

If things continue the way they're going Suarez will be off to spain to. Not being english born his dream is to play in spain with one of the big two. The only plus is the form he is displaying(despite missing quite a few chances per game) will have upped and we might manage to buy a decent poacher out of the profits

I meant he wants a challenge, just like Suarez did with us to test himself in the PL, nothing with City.

RedChris

Suarez has said he wants to add years to his LFC contract so the fella saying suarez will be off you obviously dont know anything about suarez

MJ

I totally agree, erikson is the business. problem is by the time liverpool have faffed around with players that aren't as good, he'll have gone to barcelona

If we're buying players who hold the view that they join us as a stepping stone to a 'bigger ' club, we don't bother with them. Otherwise we're no better than Crewe Alex, West Ham or Everton.
We are Liverpool not a feeder club for RM & Barca.

Ed's, great work and great site etc... I know that the bandwagon for January has started with the Villa rumour which I believe goes against the transfer ethos of fsg, but do you think that a striker in the mould of villa might be in kenny's thoughts, given AC's difficult start and if so who might be a likely/ realistic target.

Thanks
Aus {Ed002's Note - NO, that is not going to happen. Perhaps in the summer.}

10 Nov 2011 10:57:43
Eds, according to the info you have, what positions are LFC seeing as the priority, where new players might be needed?

I saw a reply saying LFC needed a right sided forward, but wasn't sure if that was your opinion, or was based on some inside info you might have had?

Have you heard anything about whether it is an out and out striker, or a right sided forward/winger that we are targeting?

Personally I would agree that we do have a decent threat on the left side, but even with Johson we don't seem as dangerous on the right. {Ed002's Note - The interest that we have at the moment is as repeatedly stated - that Liverpool have an interest in a right sided forward and Luuk De Jong. They have obviously been looking at other players as discussed regularly but they may be the focus in the summer - as qualification for Europe, and the Champions League in particular, is critical to the revenue streams and what players will likely be bought in the summer. Expect perhaps a couple of players in the January window but don't expect a massive spending spree and another 7 or 8 players arriving in to the first team squad. The club are simply not in a position to be doining that. As we have said, long-term injuries and players leaving will perhaps need replacements if there is not teh strength in the current squad. Players such as Shelvey will be returning from loan and may be kept at Anfield for the rest of the season. The Eds are getting pissed off with the same questions being asked over and over again and will simply be cutting posts from now on.}

Well said Ed's.....Please lads stop repeating the same bloody questions.

Ed002 you are becoming more knarly by the day.

May I suggest some raspberry tea to relax and unwind

{Ed002's Note - You wait until I am in a bad mood.}

Maybe the Eds, should tone down the attitude and just answer the questions as well as they can. Many of your "customers" do not sit on the site 24/7, so come on show some manners! {Ed001's Note - well then they could scroll down and read some of the previous posts and stop being so lazy and rude.}

GuillemBalague Guillem Balague
Villa has got no intention of leaving FCB.He heard rumours of a POSSIBLE interest from LFC, but will have 2 work very hard to change his mind.

Dan Rogers.

10 Nov 2011 09:26:45
EDs, surely there is no real interest in David Villa? The transfer fee would be huge, and also his wage demand would be higher than most. Where do these rumours start? In your experience where would Metro have sourced this information? Great job. Cheers {Ed002's Note - The story is coming out of Spain. As you say he would be expensive. He has always turned down offers from clubs outside of Spain and I doubt he would change his mind now. I also very much doubt Liverpool have something like £30M to spend on one player at this time.}

Eds do you think that David Villa may be interested in coming to Liverpool Fc because of his close friendship with pepe.

He did dedicate Barcelonas Champiions league win to the two daughters of close friend Reina.

He actually said: I dedicate it to all my family, my daughters and also Pepe Reina's, who are like my nieces.

{Ed002's Note - I have answered this in the post you are responding to.)

Ed002 seem to have some close contacts with Guillem Balague...coz this is exactly what he has tweeted now.lol
Dan Rogers {Ed002's Note - He pretty much gets everything he says from this site.}

In before Balague again then Ed002, or should we call you Guillem?

Perhaps Chelsea are preparing a £50m bid for Andy Carroll and that is how we will bankroll it - lmao

I'm not denying that David Villa is awesome, but i'd be a bit gutted if we paid £34ish million for him, due to him being nearly 30, if we had that kind of money to spend on one player i'd rather it be on someone younger, with more years to offer us. I know someone of his ilk would give us a really strong chance of getting top 4, but with that kind of money we would need to look at someone to play longer term. Plus i very very very much doubt KD would even think about it. Why would they make up something this unrealistic? it's not even slightly believable!

10 Nov 2011 08:51:33
The rumours of our interest in Villa and Keita have originated in Spain. Could this be Guardiola's brother (Suarez's agent) starting to engineer a part exchange deal for Luis?

Harry J

Wow! That's some imagination you've got there lad!? Now get back to your colour-by-numbers book!

10 Nov 2011 08:06:25
It's not altogether impossible for David Villa to join us - he's great mates with Reina and godfather to Pepe's daughter. Who knows - Pepe could be having a word with David even as we speak

SingRed

Not being funny but a lot of teams are shot down for straw clutching, and I'm afraid youve been caught clutching!

10 Nov 2011 03:04:53
Hi Ed, who is the most possible center defender to arrive at liverpool?
coloccini
cahill
liverpool should consider hummels and subotic, 2 youngstars
What about Doumbia? is there an option if CSKA loses in CL {Ed002's Note - I don't see HUmmels or Subotic happening and I suspect Cahill will end up elsewhere. There has been an enquiry from Newcastle about Doumbia and it is likely if there is another team who have actually enquired it will be Arsenal. Chelsea and no doubt others have had scouts at games but that is some way from making any enquiries for the player. Doumbia does a good job of talking himself up and CSKA will likely want £25M or so for the player.}

10 Nov 2011 02:44:49
guys a very very good news!!
liverpool have approached for the ryan boudebouz a right winger claimed by the player himself! he have told that dc have been in cantact with sochaux about him! and the agent of david villa too have claimed lfc interest! now this two singing would really help us and plz plz lfc buy sissikoo plz!! and sell lucas!!! this would be interesting!! what do u guys think?
ynwa..............

Why would you sell Lucas the best passer on the team?

So you'd sell our only competent DM and replace him with a CM who is better at attacking than defending. Hmmm. Can see why you're on the staff.

TSP

Utter b****cks!

I wud sell adam instead of lucas.

Sell lucas ???? what have you bin smokin ?

Sell lucas you serious?

Are you mad, lucas is a brilliant player

Why would ya sell lucas hes a brilliant player

Hi eds and all,

Eds, a question please in rumours... David Villa to LFC? Reports say he ha fallenout with Messi and we are going to offer £34 mil.
Is there any substance to this? I feel its very dubious to be honest. He only has 2 - 3 years max left in tank. Quality player right now though.

Your opinions welcome.

Bazzaa {Ed002's Note - I would not have thought so.}
